SPEAKER_01 (00:13):
Welcome to our introductory episode of
Parenting Out Loud Unscripted.
I'm Brandon

SPEAKER_00 (00:20):
and I'm Jackie

SPEAKER_01 (00:20):
and this isn't going to be a episode like we would
normally record.
We're going to use this firstlittle part here to just kind of
introduce ourselves, who we are,why we're doing this, and How do
I go from there?

SPEAKER_00 (00:34):
All right, I'll go first.
My name is Jackie.
I was born in Las Vegas, Nevada, and I'm 34 years old.
I'll be 35 pretty soon here inOctober.
We have four kids, and anytimeyou tell somebody that, they
always just are like, oh my God,four kids.
And it literally is, oh my God,four kids.

(00:54):
We have a five-year-old, anine-year-old, a 10-year-old,
and a 15-year-old, and the chaosis never ending.
We are actually a blendedfamily.
So Brandon and I actually metwhen I had two kids of my own
and was pregnant with my third.
And that's a story for anotherday.

(01:15):
But when me and Brandon met, wejust, we've been together for
seven years now.
And well, longer than that,we've been married for seven
years.
And basically, I'm a hairstylisthere in this small town and I
love what I do.
And Oh, where to start?
I mean, I'm more of theenthusiastic one.

(01:36):
I'm into astrology.
So I'm a Scorpio through andthrough.
And I love stuff like that.
I love weird haunting storiesand ghost stories.
And that's kind of mypersonality in a nutshell.
And our kids all have their ownpersonalities, which can make
parenting kind of hard.
And we just this the whole pointof the podcast is to just talk

(01:58):
about the daily things that welearn and how to do things
differently.
And also another backstory is wedon't have a village.
It's just me and my husband andhis mom, who we are extremely
grateful for.
And so we'll talk about thechallenges of that and what it's
like to be a small family andnot have aunts and uncles and

(02:19):
cousins who can help you raiseyour village.
So I'll give the mic over toBrandon now so he can introduce
himself.

SPEAKER_01 (02:28):
All right.
Well, my name is Brandon.
I'm not quite as interesting asJackie is.
I was born and raised inGeorgia, not Las Vegas.
So a little difference there.
Straight out of high school, just to give you a little back
story of where I'm from and whatI've done.

(02:51):
I joined the military straightout of high school, 17 years
old, signed up, went off tobasic training shortly after I
turned 18.
Looking back at that kind ofexperience, I wouldn't trade it
for the world.
If I had to relive my life, Iwould do the same way.
I would join the military again.

(03:12):
Now, if you ask me to join rightnow, I definitely wouldn't do it
again in life, twice in life, oranything like that.
But I enjoyed it.
I believe I learned a lot oflife experiences from that.

SPEAKER_00 (03:25):
I also think it's what shaped your career into
what you do now, today.
Yeah,

SPEAKER_01 (03:31):
I agree with that.
Shortly after I had a deploymentto Afghanistan, and once I got
back from Afghanistan, I startedlooking into what I was going to
do with my life on the civilianside of it.
outside of the military so Iworked a couple odd new jobs and
then found my way into publicsafety which is where I've been

(03:54):
at for about 12 years Iabsolutely enjoy it but you know
like you said I learned a lotfrom being in Afghanistan simple
thing you know toilet paper youknow being able to be in
Afghanistan and observe thosepeople and how they live and all

(04:16):
of the trials and tribulationsthat they dealt with there, it's
nothing compared to ourday-to-day life.
We complain about stuff and Youlook at how they're living in
mud houses and no toilet paperand using the bathroom outside.
It

SPEAKER_00 (04:33):
also is how I've heard you say that to the kids
before about how they don'trealize how well they have it
here and how ungrateful kids canbe sometimes.
And it's not any fault of theirown.
They don't know any better.
But I definitely can see whereyou're coming from and how that
shapes your view to appreciatethings so much more.

SPEAKER_01 (04:54):
Yeah, definitely.
definitely changes everythingchanges your perspective on it
and things like that but that'skind of me in a nutshell I'm not
the quite the extroverted and gogiddy kind of person that Jackie
is I'm more of the realist typeof person and I kind of see the

(05:17):
realistic side of things and shelikes the made up scientific
fantasies yeah fantasies I guessshe she calls it.
I'm the real person.
The movies that I enjoy, thestuff that I enjoy is going to
be the real stuff.
Stuff that could really happenin real life.
Every now and then you'll catchme enjoying something that's

(05:38):
sci-fi or something that's not areal type of thing or something
like that.
But for the most part, I reallyenjoy watching stuff that's
real.

SPEAKER_00 (05:49):
I definitely agree.
And I'm excited for this podcastbecause we do have such
different perspectivespersonalities but our goals are
completely aligned and I thinkthat's what shapes our parenting
into what it is today and wherewe want to see our kids and
successful futures and how westill try to maintain our
identities while still raisingour kids and that's something

(06:11):
we've talked about before thatyou know we our job in life is
to raise these kids to besuccessful but in the process
you don't want to lose yourselfand that's that's super
important to us and so we try tomaintain that by trying to get
regular day Right.
Right.

(06:42):
people tend to be like oh my godI could never do that and I'm
like yes you can though you knowand we I can't wait to make it a
family thing I can't wait todive into some of our stories
that we have to share and Ialways kind of you know we
always joke about does anybodyelse go through these things and
sometimes I think people put agood facade on and they love to

(07:06):
parade around that they're theseperfect parents but there's just
no way that mishaps don't happenin other homes.
I just think it tends to happenmore in our house but I can't
wait to dive in about how likewe've lost our kids before and
like that's a story that peopleare just going to absolutely
love and just funny things thathappen in this house and I've

(07:27):
had people tell me I wish Icould just be a fly on the wall
in your house to see some of thethings that happen and also dive
into some darker parts about howhard it's been to parent and
being a blended family and howthat has affected our kids and
but the positive outcomes of itas well.

SPEAKER_01 (07:47):
Yeah, I really like that.
I'm excited to tell some ofthese stories and kind of
excited as well to kind of hearfrom other people as well.
I mean, we may not get a lot ofviewers on this.
There may be four total peoplethat listen to this, but if
there's four people, then I'dlike to hear from four people
about, you know, are we crazy oris this normal?

(08:13):
I hear from parents all thetime.
I've got, you know, Somebody Iknow had told me that we're
talking about Halloween candyand stuff, and...
I was talking about how the kidsjust try to eat it all up and
try to go through all of it oneday.
And this person was like, not mykid.
I've got two kids and I justleave it sitting on the kitchen

(08:34):
counter.
And they're just the perfectangelic little kids.
And they just, you know, theyget a couple pieces a day and
that's it.
And I'm like, not us.
We have to hide it in the atticjust about it to keep it away
from the kids.

SPEAKER_00 (08:48):
Yeah.
I tell people all the time, I'mlike, I feel like there was a
time where I didn't want peopleto come over to the house
because I felt like all I everdid was clean, clean, clean.
And I mean, there was a timewhere we had to hide the crowns
because we were going to havewhat I used to joke.
I used to call them Egyptiancalligraphy on the wall because

(09:10):
it was just always something.
And I'm like, I'm so tired ofcleaning this house and fixing
things because these kids, theycan be so destructive sometimes.
And then I have kids that, oh,my kids never did that.
Oh, my kids would never.
do that.
And I'm like, well, shit.
Are we alone in this?

SPEAKER_01 (09:27):
Right, right.
I mean, you definitely feel likethat.
So definitely I would encourageeverybody to like and subscribe.
Come along for our journey.
We're going to talk about stuffway more than just parenting as
well.
You heard Jackie talk aboutdiving and stuff.
We may get into some off-topicstuff that's not parenting.
Talk more about life and kind oftake you along our journey and

(09:51):
see how everything goes.

SPEAKER_00 (09:53):
I can't wait.

SPEAKER_01 (09:55):
Well I think we'll call this a good introduction
and we'll talk of course a lotmore about everything and you'll
get to know us a lot better andhopefully we'll get to know some
of y'all as well.

SPEAKER_00 (10:06):
And join us for our first episode which is going to
be talking about morning chaos.

SPEAKER_01 (10:11):
Yes and definitely having your coffee first.
We're going to talk about somemorning routines and how it goes
in our family and see if you canrelate to it at all.

episode and we will see you nexttime.
