Robin McAuley (McAuley Schenker Group, Black Swan, Survivor, Raiding the Rock Vault) is one of the best Hard Rock and Metal vocalists ever to have stepped behind a microphone. If you were listening to Hard Rock in the 80s, you probably know Robin best as the voice of the McAuley Schenker Group, MSG, with his frequent partner, guitarist Michael Schenker. Younger fans of the genre may only know Robin McAuley from his more recent work fronting the supergroup Black Swan with Reb Beach, Jeff Pilson, and Matt Star, or as one of many vocalists in the star-studded, long-running Las Vegas jukebox mega concert, Raiding the Rock Vault. Pariah Burke recently spoke with Robin about Raiding the Rock Vault, the status of the second Black Swan album Reb Beach had recently told Pariah was being written, Robin's advice to new singers, Robin's brand new solo album, Standing on the Edge--his first in more than 20 years--and more!

  • The first song he wrote for his wife of 28 years
  • Advice to singers who want a long career

Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
