Dr. Gunter-Edwards comes with a rich academic palette, equipped with a bachelor's degree in forensic psychology, a master's in counseling psychology—where she achieved the prestigious Summa Cum Laude distinction—and a Doctorate in Christian Counseling. Her thirst for knowledge is matched only by her commitment to serve, a trait she exhibited profoundly during her time in the U.S. Army as a Drill Sergeant. Cheryl's military tenure is decorated with honors, including deployments in Desert Storm, Turkey, and Bosnia.

Cheryl's heart beats with profound love and compassion—evident in her role as a sister, daughter, niece, aunt, and great-aunt, not to forget a devoted wife to her husband, John. In 2021, she answered a divine call, stepping into ministry as a licensed Minister, and was ordained as a Reverend in late 2023. Her spiritual roots are deeply embedded in the Tabernacle Baptist Church, her spiritual residence for over four decades.

In her advocacy, Dr. Gunter-Edwards extends her hand to the intellectually developmentally disabled community, teaching skills that foster independence and dignity. Her work highlights her professional prowess and dedication to those often left in the margins of society, including veterans and the voiceless.
