Life is in the Son! That is the truth of this message that we all need to walk away with. In this sermon, T. S. Myers exposits probably the most difficult passage of this book. Listen along to see how he deals with how to understand the three that testify and what is known as the Johannine comma. But to get stuck in the weeds would be to miss the overall point that John is making - that our eternal life is in the Son and God, in Ch...

This will show in our obedience to his commands because our natures have be...
Does a Christian have to fear ultimate punishment? What does John mean when he says perfect love? Join us as T. S. Myers preaches through 1 John 4:16-21. Here Myers shows us how we don’t have to fear God’s ultimate punishment because God’s love drives out fear and the reason we can love others like God wants is because He first loved us. If this message touches your heart, let us know by going to www.turnevangelism.com/connect, and...
Why do we love? Is God impressed with our love? Join us as T. S. Myers works through 1 John 4:7-16. Through this sermon, we learn that God loves us, not because we are good but because He is good; because it is His very nature to love. As a result, we can rest in His love and not have to fear a looming punishment when we stand before Him because His cross has cast that fear out. But we must be born to that love and rely on it. If t...
When John says, "Test the spirits," what does he mean? In this message, pastor Thomas exposits 1 John 4:1-6, and teaches that John actually gives us two tests to see if the Origen of the message that a person presents to us is from God's spirit or from the spirit of the antichrist. The test, is twofold. First it is confessional/doctrinal - the person professing Christ must confess the right things about him - things ...
When we live like God wants, focused on the gospel and consequently, doing good to others, we can have even greater confidence that God will answer our prayers. But how can this be? Listen along as T. S. Myers exposits a difficult passage, 1 John 3:19-24. Here we find that because God's Spirit lives within us, we will live a certain way and we can be persuaded that God hears us. But, if we harbor evil in our hearts and are not...
Jesus calls us to love all people. But the mark of a Christian is supposed to be love for one another (that is, other believers). There is supposed to be something different about the believing community. In this sermon, T. S. Myers preaches through 1 John 3:11-18 explaining what Christian love is supposed to look like. He explains what it means for true believers to love one another - that this love is not limited to a few believe...
Does what you do determine who you are or does who you are influence what you do? Join us as T. S. Myers works through this question by exploring 1 John. Here he explains that Christians who truly ARE God's children because they are in the Son, will start to look like the Son. He covers three conclusions from the passage he is expositing: 1) Because believers live in the sinless one (Christ the Son) they are Children of God an...
What you look to changes you. This is true whether you like it or not. And in the gospel of God, the first thing God does to change us is, reveal himself and his love in Jesus Christ. In this message, T. S. Myers exposits 1 John 3:1-3. Here, he teaches us that when we look to God's goodness and really understand it, we will be willing to let go of everything else. 1 John 3:1 talks about how those who have hope in Jesus purify ...
Can you lose your salvation? Does the Bible have anything to say on this topic? If you can't, then how do we make sense of those passages that require us to persevere to the end? Join us as T. S. Myers preaches through 1 John 2:18-29. Here we find that John is dealing with a group of people who left the church to start their own movement. Do you know who you will be in 30 years? It is pretty hard to see that far ahead, but those who are true followers of Christ will still be His followers. Following Jesus for such a long time is hard, and along the way we will face temptation to compromise or give in to the world. Know this, if we do not have strong boundaries set from the beginning, we will be susceptible to fall. In this message, T. S. Myers teaches through 1 John...
Do you know for sure that you know God? Well we can know that if we believe the gospel and are born again. But there are certain signs that accompany that salvation. Or, to uses Jesus' terminology in Matthew 7, there will be fruit that accompanies a genuine follower of Christ. In this message T. S. Myers goes over 1 John 2:1-11 and talks about three fruits of fellowship. First of all, fellowship with God Leads us away from sin...
Did you know that fellowship with God has implications? This is because God is light. To be close to Him—to know Him—is to walk in His light. That means those who claim to walk with God but actually walk in darkness are lying. This is the language of 1 John. Join us as T. S. Myers continues his series through this convicting book. If this message touches your heart, let us know by going to www.turnevangelism.com/connect, and fill ...
Imagine a group of people were in a room and everyone was arguing about who God was but then, God himself walked into the room. Would you listen to those people if they told you this? Twothousand years ago, Jesus walked into the room, God became flesh, and told His apostle what eternal life is. In this message, T. S. Myers starts his series through 1 John, explaining that John is basing what he is teaching on eye-witness testimony ...
