In episode 21 of the 'Pastors and Money Podcast,' we engage in a deep, insightful conversation on the topic of how to trust God to provide with Paul Granger. Paul is a longtime ministry worker associated with YWAM and other entities. We tackle the challenging question: Do we truly trust God to be our provider? We introduce the concept of new beginnings, both psychologically and biblically, and share some exciting opportunities for pastors to gain financial coaching and support. Paul Granger shares his personal journey of losing his job, embracing full-time volunteer ministry, and learning to trust in God’s provision. He recounts how God provided for his family in inexplicable ways during financially uncertain times. Granger's testimony emphasizes the importance of discerning God’s voice, seeking His wisdom, and trusting in His plans, which may often seem foolish but are ultimately for our good and for the lives we touch. I'm Joy Suzanne Hunt, pastor and financial coach, bringing you conversations about personal finance, church finance and how we disciple our churches in the areas of finance and stewardship. You can find the episode show notes, and more at pastorsandmoney.com. And here's the show. Joy Hunt: Hi there. Welcome to episode number 21 of the [Pastors]{.underline} and Money Podcast. Today, I'm talking with Paul Granger about a challenging question many of us wrestle with: do I really trust God to be my provider? Before we dive into that conversation, I've been thinking about fresh starts. You know, how motivated we feel at the beginning of the new year. If you're listening to this when it's just come out, we're a couple of weeks into the beginning of the new year. [00:01:00] Scientists actually call this the fresh start effect. This surge of energy and hope we get when we begin something new. But this isn't just psychology. It's actually a deeply biblical principle. Throughout scripture, God offers his people new beginnings. Think about the year of Jubilee, where debts were forgiven and slaves were freed. Or the practice of firstfruits giving, acknowledging God's provision at the start of every harvest. Even the command to remember the Sabbath is about starting each week fresh, realigning our hearts with God's purposes. So, if you're feeling that nudge to make changes in your finances or your ministry this new year, lean into it. Start by sitting down with your spouse or a trusted friend or a coach. Have an honest conversation about your finances. If you're stuck and you're not sure where to start, you can reach out to me at joy@pastorsandmoney.com. I'd love to chat with you. Our God is the author of new beginnings and he delights in helping his people start fresh. Exciting Opportunities for Pastors Speaking of new starts, I [00:02:00] have two exciting opportunities to share for pastors looking for support. First, Church Boom is launching their next coaching cohort in February of 2025. If you're pastoring a church with under 100 attendees, you can participate completely free. This 10 month program includes monthly group coaching, a fully paid soul care retreat. And a personalized growth plan for your church. And I'm actually in one of their cohorts right now. If you're listening and it's after February of 2025. You should still check the website because they offer these cohorts a few different times a ye...
