SPEAKER_00 (00:09):
Hello and welcome to A Path to Redemption podcast.
My name is Daniel Arona and justremember the simple truth.
The Father loves you, Jesusloves you, and the Holy Spirit
loves you.
Once again, I hope that you'vehad a great week.
I hope that you've had time tospend with the Lord in prayer
and also in his word.
Again, I know I say it everyweek, but I'm telling you the
day is very, very, very quicklyapproaching.
There are so many things thatare lining up with scripture.

(00:30):
I mean, not to mention theaccords that are potentially
going on in the Middle East thatI believe are a precursor to
some things that are going tohappen when we start talking
safety and security.
The scripture also says thatwhen you start saying those
things, that look, suddendestruction is coming.
We're seeing a buildup of troopsfrom NATO alliances going into

(00:51):
Ukraine.
You're seeing troops from NorthKorea going into Russia to fight
against Ukraine.
The world is literally teeteringon a knife's edge right now.
And this is now the time forthis church, the church, the
true church, the remnant church, however you want to To rise up
and be focused on Jesus Christ,be focused on the harvest, be

(01:14):
focused on souls, be intimatewith the Lord that we may be
able to go out into thebattlefield.
And no matter what, no matterwhat the cost, to go ahead and
tell people about Jesus.
That's really how close I thinkthat we are.
And I think that things are justgoing to start to spiral out.
That's what scripture says.
And at the end of the day, andI've taught this at my local

(01:35):
church, and perhaps I'll teachit here at some point.
Just as the disciples arewalking into a pre-Christian
society, and what I mean by thatis that the Gentiles had no
Christian values.
Everything was pagan.
There's no value of life.
There's no biblical teaching, noChristian teaching, no Christian
values that went along into therest of the world.

(01:56):
And what happened to them isthat they were murdered for it
because it went against what, you know, do as thou will, if
you will.
But we are walking into apost-Christian society, and what
I mean by that is a society thathas left and has left the people
and left the biblical teachingthat is out there.
And I think that we have got tomake sure, one, that we are

(02:18):
rooted and grounded inScripture, and two, that we are
focused about His work andintimate with Him as well.
And we've got to be prepared forthat because if the last church
is going to be as powerful asthe first church, as Scripture
alludes to, then we're going tohave to make sure that we are
ready and that we're putting inthe work now.

(02:38):
Amen.
So with that being said, lastweek we talked about the king
being ridiculed on the cross, which I find interesting again.
That Satan just can't take awin.
He's got to rub it in and do allthose things.
But as Paul said, if they hadknown, they would not have
crucified the king of glory.
So at the end of the day, eventhough there was a cross there,

(03:00):
it didn't matter because at theend of the day, Christ got
victory through his death andresurrection over a whole host
of things and We're going totalk a lot about that a little
bit today and then a little bitas we get into the resurrection.
So with all that being said, allof our scripture comes from the
New King James Bible.
If you'd like a copy of the NewKing James Bible, feel free to

(03:21):
drop me a note atPastorRedemptionOhio at
gmail.com.
I am more than happy to get oneinto your hands.
Also, my book's out, GraceAbounds.
If you'd like that, feel free todrop me a note at
PastorRedemptionOhio atgmail.com.
Again, more than happy to getone into your hands.
And then finally, once again, don't take my word for it.
Make sure that you are studyingto show yourself approved unto

(03:42):
God.
Make sure that you are puttingin the work.
That is what's important.
That's what's going to fosteryour relationship with Jesus is
when you put in the work.
Never forget that, you know, theone that blesses the servant
that when the master returns, hefinds him working, right?
And we know that from theparable of the faithful servant.
And don't forget what happens tothe unfaithful servant.

(04:03):
They're cast into outer darknessand which I truly believe is the
tribulation.
So with that, that being saidwe're going to go ahead and jump
in again last week we talkedabout Jesus being ridiculed on
the cross this week we're goingto look at his death and what
happened after the death ofJesus Christ on the cross so
Matthew 27 50 through 56 andJesus cried out again with a

(04:24):
loud voice and yielded up hisspirit then behold the veil of
the temple was torn in two fromtop to bottom and the earth
quaked and the rocks were splitand the graves were opened and
many bodies of the saints whohad fallen asleep were raised
and coming out of the gravesafter his resurrection they went
into So Jesus gave up hisspirit.

(04:53):
Remember that he did thatwillingly.
And that's an important point.
You see, John 10, 18 says, Ihave power to lay it down and I
have power to take it again.
This command I have receivedfrom my father.

(05:16):
He willingly died on the crossfor you and me.
That is a different picture thanif someone takes his life than
just being a martyr.
He willingly laid it down forus.
So there has to be a purpose andcertain things must have been
accomplished.
And notice what happened afterJesus gave up his spirit.
The veil in the temple was tornfrom top to bottom.

(05:38):
The earth was torn.
So let's first look at the veilof the temple.
You see, up until this point, only the high priest was allowed
behind the veil.
It was the barrier, theseparation between man and God
due to sin, iniquity, andtransgression.
Behind it was the Holy of Holiesthat housed the Ark of the
Covenant, and it was here thatonce a year on the Day of

(06:01):
Atonement, the high priest wouldgo to commune with the Lord.
Now you see, the veil being tornmeant that now anyone could go
to the Father through JesusChrist.
The barrier between man and Godwas lifted as a new mediator of
a better covenant had come inChrist Jesus.
Hebrews 9, 13-15 says, And forthis reason, he is the mediator

(06:38):
You see, Jesus then became themediator.
No longer was it the blood ofbulls and goats.
No longer was it the temple.
No longer was it all thesethings.
Jesus literally transferred thephysical nature of that

(07:01):
relationship to the spiritual towhere we are now the temple of
God and that God's spirit dwellswith us as Paul says, So at the
end of the day here, themediator for the covenant means
that he now is who we go throughin order to get to the Father.
So understanding that, then thetemple veil had to be torn down

(07:23):
because it wasn't through thetemple anymore.
It was through Jesus Christ.
So Jesus was now the door of theFather.
And when we believe in him, wenow have access to the Father.
As one minister put it, when hedied on the cross, they hung the
door that we may go before theFather at any time.
And the writer of Hebrews evenwent this far in Hebrews 4, 14

(07:45):
through 16, where he says, wecan now go boldly, boldly to the

(08:11):
throne of grace.
You see, the blood of bulls andgoats, the Passover sacrifice
that was established, which is apicture of the fullness of the
redemptive work of Jesus Christon the cross, was never going to
be enough to reconcile us backto the Father because it was an
outward holiness.
What do I mean by that?
It was an outward purification.
It was a purification of thecarnality.

(08:33):
It never once dealt with theheart.
Jesus dealt with the heart Andwe've talked about this.
Remember when he told us that, look, if you even look at
another woman with lust in yourheart, you have committed
adultery.
Meaning it's about where theheart is.
But the law can never deal withthe heart.
Only Jesus Christ and the crossof Jesus Christ can.

(08:54):
Now, the tearing of the veil isno small feat.
Exodus 26, 31 through 35 says,You shall make a veil woven of
blue, purple, and scarlet threadand fine woven linen.
It shall be woven with anartistic design of cherubim.
You shall hang it upon the fourpillars of acacia wood, overlay
with gold.
Their hooks shall be gold uponfour sockets of silver, and you

(09:17):
shall hang the veil from theclasps.
Then you shall bring the ark ofthe testimony in there behind
the veil.
The veil shall be a divider foryou between the holy place and
the most holy.
You shall put the mercy seatupon the ark of the testimony
and the most holy.
You shall set the table outsidethe veil and the lampstand
across from the table on theside of the tabernacle toward

(09:38):
the south.
You see, even according toExodus, the curtains on the
outside of the tabernacle were42 feet long.
And this veil had to separatethe sin and transgression of man
from God.
So you think about it, if theywere 42 feet high or 42 feet
long, so had God himself had torip this himself and allow us to

(10:01):
go before him and he had to doit supernaturally.
Only with the ripping and thetearing of the veil did God
allow us to go before him.
Could the Holy of Holies beopened for us to be able to
commune with the Father, but itwas only going to be through
Jesus Christ.
Remember, what did he say?
He said that everyone that triesto go to the Father, but through
me, is nothing more than a thiefand a robber.

(10:23):
So that means that the law, according to the Jewish faith
and tradition, is a thief and arobber.
Anyone else, any other religionout there that's trying to go to
God the Father without goingthrough Jesus Christ is the same
as a thief and a robber.
because they do not go throughthe door which is jesus christ
amen so next was the earthquaking and of the resurrection

(10:47):
of the saints look on its ownmerits it makes sense jesus
christ had just died but we needto recognize the role of the
earth remember what we talkedabout two weeks ago that by
wearing the crown of thornsjesus reconciled the curse that
was given to the earth duringadam's fall and look the
creation story points to thework of redemption jesus 1, 1

(11:08):
through 2 says, See, thebeginning is when God created
the universe, but we know thatin verse 2 what we see is not
the character of God.
He does not do anything withoutform and void and in darkness.
That's not his character.

(11:29):
That's not who he is.
But rather, I personally believethat this shows that something
happened between Genesis 1, 1and Genesis 1, 2.
And exactly what, we have noidea.
But my personal belief, and whatI think is most likely and borne
out in scripture, is that therebellion of Lucifer is seen
between verse 1 and verse 2,where he is cast out to heaven

(11:49):
and sent down to this earth.
But the picture of the earthhere is also a picture of us and
how we were before Jesus.
We had no purpose.
You see, it is not possible forus to have purpose outside of
Christ.
You found your purpose when thelight of salvation came, just as
the earth did when God said, letthere be light.
The rest The rest of thecreation story is about the

(12:09):
fullness of the redemptive workleading us into the fullness of
the rest with the Lord, withGod.
I cover this extensively in myfirst book, Grace Abounds, and
it will be summarized in mysecond book of my trilogy, The
Cross.
But it's an important look herebecause from Genesis 1-1 all the
way through the maps is thepicture of the redemptive story

(12:30):
of Jesus Christ.
It is outlaid in the verybeginning from what God had set
forth.
So the earth itself groans Paultalks about this in Romans 8,
18-22.
Because the creation itself alsowill be delivered from the

(13:04):
bondage of corruption and toglorious liberty of the children
And I think that's a key thinghere, right?
Because when we see theredemptive work of Jesus Christ
on the cross, Paul alludes herethat, look, even creation itself

(13:24):
is going to be redeemed and it'sgoing to be delivered from the
bondage of corruption into theglorious liberty of the children
of God.
And we see that in Isaiah, right?
When the lion lays down with thelamb, we see that when the the
men take their swords and makethem into plowshares.
We see all of that happen wherecreation itself is reverted back

(13:46):
to the way that it was in theGarden of Eden.
And all of that is because ofthe redemptive work of Jesus
Christ.
And that's what Paul says here.
Now the question then is whydoes it groan and why did it
quake?
You see the earth was corruptedwhen sin entered during the
rebellion of Lucifer.
He was cast to this earth and itwas further cursed when Adam's

(14:07):
We see this in Genesis 4.10.

(14:37):
Then we're going to talk aboutthat here in a second as well.
But at the end of the day, though, we have to fully
understand that the earth isgoing to be redeemed for the

(15:01):
millennial kingdom.
And then it's going to passaway.
Then you're going to have a newheaven and a new earth with the
sun and God.
You see, all of these thingshappened miraculously when
Christ died.
All of this caused the centurionto say that, man, this truly was
the Son of God.
And it's I'm going to pause herefor a second because this man

(15:24):
believed because of what he sawin the death of Jesus Christ.
This is why I truly believe thatthe rapture will be one of the
greatest soul winning events inhistory.
People will believe because theysee the faithful believers go up
to meet him in the air.
I know plenty of people thatsay, look, if I miss the
rapture, then I'll believebecause then at least I'll know
it's real.

(15:44):
And I'm like, well, and I tellthem all the time, well, why
don't you just go up with me,man?
Like, why don't you just believeright now?
And then we can just go uptogether.
that you don't have to worryabout what's coming afterwards
and he's like well no i don'tneed to do that i'm like all
right but i'm just telling youlike i don't want you to miss
out because of your youriniquity and because of all that
stuff when you know that there'sa rapture coming and that's a

(16:06):
struggle for me particularlywith with with people that you
once believed and had thingshappen because at the end of the
day i just want people to go ijust want people to go up and be
raised up and go with us intothe into the sky to meet jesus
christ now people People arealways like, oh, the rapture is
escapism, and I don't believethat at all.
I believe it's the reward forthe saints that have diligently

(16:27):
followed him.
Now, I've also told you beforethat I personally don't believe
that everyone that believes orclaims to be a Christian is
going, because there's a lot ofscripture in the back half of
Matthew 24 and through Matthew25, which we've talked about,
that says that it is split, thatabout half of them will go
because they are the ones thatare faithful and the ones that

(16:48):
have prepared themselves.
That's why I start every singlepodcast by saying, make sure
that you are fostering yourrelationship because I want all
of you, all my listeners, to beable to go with me, to go up in
the air, and to go and be withJesus Christ during that
marriage supper of the Lamb.
Now, after this, we see thatJesus is buried in the tomb of

(17:08):
Joseph of Arimathea.
Matthew 27, 57-61 says, Now inthe evening had come, there came
a rich man from Arimathea namedJoseph, who himself had also
become a disciple of Jesus.
This man was Then Pilatecommanded the body to be given
him.

(17:51):
This also fulfills that Jesuswould be put into the earth like
he said in Matthew 12, 38-42.
Then some of the scribes andPharisees answered saying, The

(18:22):
only caveat here is that Jesusplainly says that he would be in
the heart of the earth as Jonahwas.
So let's go back and look at thestory of Jonah and see where
Jonah was in the belly of thewhale.
It says when Jonah was in thebelly of the great fish, this is
what he said in Jonah 2, 1, 3,4.
It says, Then Jonah prayed tothe Lord from the fish's belly,

(18:42):
and he said, I cried out to theLord because of my affliction,
and he answered me.
Out of the belly of Sheol Icried, and you heard my voice,
for you cast me into the deep.
So where was Jonah?
The scripture says that he wasin the belly of Sheol, or hell.

(19:06):
Based on how he was praying, hewas teetering between life and
death in the belly of the fish.
If that is the sign for Jesus, then he must go to the same
place.
This man who knew no sin becamesin for us.
Sin creates suffering.
So God had no choice.
The Father had no choice but tohave Jesus go to hell.

(19:27):
In hell there is torment.
Yet for Christ it was aseparation because he did not
have the intimacy with sin thatwe do.
He only had the knowledge.
He didn't know it.
He didn't know it the way thatwe do.
But yet he became it for us.
That it could all be nailed tothe tree.
And this is shown in Ephesians4, 7-10.
Where it says, Therefore, hesays when he ascended on high,

(19:53):
he led captivity captive andgave gifts to men.
Now this, he ascended, what doesit mean but that he also first
descended into the lower partsof the earth?
He who descended is also the onewho ascended far above all the
heavens that he might fill allthings.
Peter also shows this in 1 Peter3, 18-20.

(20:13):
For Christ also suffered oncefor sins, the just for the
unjust, that he might bring usto God, being put to death in
the flesh, But made alive by theSpirit.

(20:50):
Now look, we know from Luke 16,19-23 that there was a section
in hell where there was notorment.
Because this is what the Biblesays, There was a certain rich
man who was clothed in purpleand a fine linen and fared
sumptuously every day.
But there was a certain beggarnamed Lazarus, full of sores,
who laid at his gate, desiringto be fed with the crumbs which

(21:12):
fell from the rich man's table.
Moreover, the dogs came andlicked his sores.
So it was the beggar died andwas carried by the angels to
Abraham's book.
The rich man also died and wasburied, and being in torment in
Hades, he lifted up his eyes andsaw Abraham afar off and Lazarus
in his bosom.
And then he cried and said, Sothat those who want to pass from

(21:55):
here to you cannot, nor canthose from there pass to us.
All of those that went toparadise, the area separated
from torment, could still not goto heaven to be with the Father
because redemption had not come.
Only when Christ died couldredemption come that they would
be released from that area, fromthat prison, if you will, in the

(22:17):
earth, to be reconciled back tothe Father.
See, this is why in Revelation 118 Jesus is able to say I am he
who lives and was dead andbehold I am alive forever more
amen and I have the keys toHades and death he took the keys
to hell when he is when hedescended down to captivity let

(22:38):
captivity captive led them outand marched them right out of
hell through his redemptive workto be reconciled back to the
father why because they havebeen redeemed at that point they
had all been looking for thepromise they all been looking
for the promise of Jesus Christfor the redemptive work that was
to come yet in their longsuffering they had to wait they

(22:58):
had to wait on it until thefullness could be done then
Jesus descended took them outtook the keys to hell because
there was no longer they wouldno longer be separated anymore
from God because they died intheir iniquity they still died
in their sin because as I saidthe law could not do anything it
was only ritualisticallypurifying people so what

(23:19):
happened they still died Theystill died in their sin until
the cross of Jesus Christ cameand redeemed them from it.
And he went down and preached tothem and told them, I am he that
you were looking for.
That's what I truly believe, that they looked for him and
they longed for him.
And even Hebrews 11 talks abouthow they longed for the promise

(23:40):
and how they put forth thepromise.
But at the end of the day, theystill held the faith, even
though they had to wait foryears upon years down in that
paradise area.
where that gulf was in order forJesus Christ to fulfill the
redemptive work.
But now we don't have to waitanymore because for the
believer, for the one that trulyloves the Lord, the one that

(24:01):
we've seen the change in, all ofthose things, when they die,
guess what?
They go home.
They go home to be with JesusChrist because we are his.
And if we are his, we are thefather's.
Amen.
So while Christ became sin, heknew no sin.
So hell could not hold him back.
Couldn't hold him back at all.
There was no punishment that canbe levied upon Jesus Christ and

(24:24):
next week we're going to look atthe resurrection and how he has
the keys to the death butbecause he holds these two he is
the only one that can judge manRomans 8 31-34 it says what then
shall we say to these things ifGod is for us who can be against
us he who did not spare his ownson but delivered him up for us
all how shall he not with himalso freely give us all things

(24:48):
who shall bring a charge againstGod's elect it is God who
justifies who is he who condemnsit is Christ who died
furthermore is also risen who iseven at the right hand of God
and who also makes constantintercession for us so it is
because of his triumph that hecan judge Christ is the one that

(25:09):
died not you Christ is the onethat died not anyone else
whether it's people judging youor you judging someone else know
that it was Christ that died notanyone else the time Amen.
Hallelujah.
You see, God was not going toleave his creation.

(25:36):
God was not going to leave thefaithful out to dry.
He was always going to make away.
We knew that the promise wasthere of Jesus Christ from the
very beginning of thefoundations of the earth, and
they would be reconciled.
back to him through theredemptive work of Jesus Christ.
And all of it would happen inthe time between his death and

(25:57):
his resurrection.
Now, next week, we're going totalk about the resurrection of
this.
And there's going to be animportant part about this
regarding the temple that is inheaven, regarding some other
things that happened there interms of conquering death as
well, and some other things thatallowed Jesus Christ to retain
and take his rightful place atthe right hand of the Father.

(26:19):
But we're going to talk aboutall that next week in detail.
Once again, I hope you'regetting something out of this
study in Matthew.
It's actually been reallybeneficial for me to do this
deep of a dive here into thebook of Matthew and understand
what the King Jesus Christaccomplished for us.
He is the King of it all now.

(26:40):
I can't wait to talk about itnext week because while the
death, the dissension into hell, and the redemptive work of those
that happened before is allimportant it is all sealed in
the resurrection you cannotseparate them they are you
cannot you can't have deathwithout the resurrection and you
can't have resurrection withoutdeath and that forms a

(27:01):
foundation of how we are changedinto his likeness through the
trials and tribulations that weface so with all of that being
said i hope you're gettingsomething out of this but until
next time just remember thesimple truth the father loves
you jesus loves you and the holyspirit loves you god bless
