Bye.

SPEAKER_00 (00:09):
Hello, and welcome to A Path to Redemption, the
podcast.
My name is Daniel Arona, andjust remember this simple truth.
The Father loves you, Jesusloves you, and the Holy Spirit
loves you.
Once again, I hope that you hada great week.
I hope that you've had time tospend with the Lord in prayer
and also in His Word.
And again, I know that you'reprobably getting tired of me
saying that.
I've been saying that everysingle day, I feel like, for the
past four years.
But it's very important.
I mean, the things and theevents that we see happening in

(00:31):
this world, all of this isprecursors to the end and to
what's coming down.
And look, you know, the Lordtold our church probably three
years that we have got to makesure that we are intimate with
him, that we have an intimaterelationship with him, because
we won't be able to handlewhat's coming on the earth.
And I think what's coming on theearth is that fullness of
iniquity, where the love of manywaxes cold, and then everyone

(00:53):
only cares about themselves.
And it's the fullness of theiniquity that rests in mankind.
And it's really no differentthan what you saw in Genesis 6,
where Jesus says, or not Jesus, but God says, you know, man is
only evil continually in hisheart.
And so just make sure thatyou're studying to show you
yourself approved unto God, makesure that you are putting in the
work, make sure that you'reabout his business and make sure

(01:14):
that you're fostering thatrelationship.
Okay.
It's just very, very, veryimportant as we go forward.
And particularly as they, causeI would truly, truly believe
that the rapture is right aroundthe corner.
So with that being said, um, weare going to move on.
We're going to go into the Kingon the cross today.
We're going to look at thedifferent aspects.
We're going to spend a littlebit of time on the cross.
Um, but we're going to look atthe different aspects of what

(01:36):
Christ had redeemed.
Um, particularly at, on thecross here.
And we're not necessarily goingto go verse by verse through
Matthew here, but I do want tospend some time talking about
everything that Christ redeemed,or at least the high points of
what Christ redeemed on thecross and the different points
that are in there.
So before we get started, again, all of our scripture comes from

(01:57):
the New King James Bible.
If you'd like a copy of the NewKing James Bible, feel free to
drop me a note atpastorredemptionohio at
gmail.com.
More than happy to get one intoyour hands.
Also, my book's out, GraceAbounds.
If you'd like a copy of Again, feel free to drop me a note at
Pastor at EmersonOhio atgmail.com.
And then again, finally, don'ttake my word for it.
Make sure that you are puttingin the work.

(02:18):
Make sure that you are studyingto show yourself approved unto
God and working out your ownsalvation with fear and
trembling.
And then on a personal note, Iwould just ask that all of you
pray for me.
I'm actually having a, they'recalling it a minor surgery, but
there's no such thing as minorsurgery on Tuesday.
So I just pray that the Lordbrings me through that and that

(02:39):
everything goes goes the waythat it needs to go so um if you
could but i still should be ableto record next week uh so if
something happens or for somereason i'm a little late getting
it out you know why um so withthat being said let's go ahead
and dive right in so in matthewum 27 again last week we looked
at the mocking of jesus and howwas a picture of him being

(03:01):
mocked for his millennialkingdom this week we're going to
look at kind of the fullness ofthe cross and what jesus
reconciled back through thecross then next week we're going
to talk about his death andeverything that he accomplished
with the death because all ofthe things that we're going to
talk about before actuallyhappened before his death and
then we're going to talk aboutwhat he accomplished in his
death next week and then eventalk about what happened in

(03:23):
between his death and hisresurrection so we have a lot of
stuff to still get through herein the book of Matthew before we
wrap up and we're going to spenda lot of time because like I
said I still don't think thatanyone will ever fully
understand everything that Jesusaccomplished So with that, let's

(03:46):
just make sure there's onecharacter that we have to talk
about first, and that is Simonof Cyrene.
So Matthew 27, 32 says, And youknow, this is an interesting
little passage that Matthew putsin here.
And there's no doubt that afterthe beatings and everything else
that Jesus would have been weakin the body.

(04:07):
However, there's more here aswell.
You see, Simon of Cyrene, wasmore than likely a Libyan Jew.
Cyrene was a city founded by theGreeks that had a Jewish
population at the time.
Many resettled in Judea duringthe time of the Ptolemies in 300
BC.
But here we have a man who wascompelled by the Romans to carry
the cross for Christ.
This is us.

(04:27):
We are to deny ourselves andtake up our cross and follow
him.
This is the picture even duringthe crucifixion.
But the other thing here is thatit shows us that we deserve the
cross, not Christ.
It should be us that that arecarrying that cross up there,
not Jesus.
We talked about this two weeksago with Barabbas.
But because of our shame, because of our curse and the sin
and transgression and iniquity,he had to go.

(04:50):
But it was us that put himthere.
If we didn't sin, if Adam didn'tfall, none of this would have
happened.
But it all happened according tothe will of God that his son,
Jesus Christ, might sit at theright hand of the Father, which
is exactly where he needs to be.
Amen.
Being fully man and fully God.
So with that, let's Let's kindof transition here into the king

(05:10):
on the cross.
So now Matthew 27, 33 through 35says, I don't know necessarily

(05:39):
how Matthew records it, but Iwant to talk to you about the
different aspects of whathappened to Jesus on the cross
and specifically what heredeemed through each of them.
But first, though, they took himto Golgotha, and there's a lot
of teachings out there aboutthis possibly being the place of
Goliath's skull, since he wasthe seed of the serpent, being a
giant, that it fulfills the seedprophecy in Genesis 3.

(05:59):
There are others that say thatthis is where Adam's skull was.
Some said it was because thehill looked like a skull or that
it was a common place of deathand crucifixion.
I don't know what's right andwrong, but I wanted to at least
show the different thoughts.
I don't think there is enoughevidence or documentation from
the time to support either one,but Matthew clearly includes it

(06:20):
here for a reason, but morestudy would really be needed for
me to say why.
The important part here, though,is that Golgotha was just
outside Jerusalem, and thisfulfills the sacrifice
requirement.
The writer of Hebrews says thisin Hebrews 13, 10-16, We have an
altar from which those who servethe tabernacle have no right to
For the bodies of those animalsNow, there's a lot in there that

(07:19):
we could unpack.
There's probably about sixdifferent messages I could
preach about in just that littlepassage here.
But he discusses specifically tothe Jews that they must go
outside the camp or outsideJerusalem to find salvation that
is in Jesus Christ.
They have to forsake thePharisees.
They have to forsake the temple.
They have to go outside to findhim and bear their reproach as

(07:42):
they go out.
And this was shown as the shadowof the sacrifice and fulfilled
in Jesus through thecrucifixion.
So with that being understood interms of the place, let's get
into what Jesus bore on thatcross.
The first thing that he bore ishe bore the curse.
And what I mean by that is Imean all curses.
So Galatians 3, 10-14 says, Foras many as are the works of the

(08:05):
law are under the curse, for itis written, Cursed is everyone
who does I'm going to stop therefor a second because all of us
have failed the law.
Every single one of us.
The law was meant to tell us howevil and awful we are.
We all failed it.
So guess what?
All of us are underneath thecurse of that law.
But that no one is justified bythe law in the sight of God is

(08:28):
evident.
For the just shall live byfaith.
Yet the law is not a faith, butthe man who does them shall live
by them.
Christ has redeemed us from thecurse of the law, having become
a curse for us.
You see, understanding this,Christ bore every curse on that

(08:52):
cross.
This includes things likegenerational curses, but also
the curse of the law, which wasdeath, and more importantly, the
second death.
It is all the curses listed inLeviticus, Numbers, and
Deuteronomy.
This is what he took on thatcross.
And that's why Paul was able tosay in Romans 1, 8 1-4, You see,

(09:39):
it was the cross that gave amechanism to deal with the curse
caused by sin, transgression, that is ultimately rooted in
iniquity.
Remember, iniquity or self isonly dealt with through the
cross.
Jesus in Matthew 16, 24 said,It's going to end in the exact

(10:03):
same spot.
Paul says that.
Paul said in Galatians 5, 22-23,With the The fruit of the Spirit
is love, joy, peace,long-suffering, kindness,
goodness, faithfulness,gentleness, self-control.
Against such there are no law.
And those who are Christ havecrucified the flesh with its
passions and desires.
If we live in the Spirit, let usalso walk in the Spirit.

(10:24):
He also doubled down on this inGalatians 2, 17-21, where he
said, You see, our flesh must becrucified just as Jesus was, but

(11:06):
it bore that entire curse.
It bore the curse of the law forus that we may be the
righteousness of God because hehas fulfilled it all through his
work.
Now, the other thing that he didis he bore the curse of Adam
here.
So it wasn't just the curse ofthe law, but the curse of Adam.
You know, we talked about thislast week with the crown of
thorns and the curse that wasplaced on the earth due to the

(11:27):
fall of Adam.
But the other aspect of thatcurse was that Adam would have
to bear fruit from the sweat ofhis brow.
But now, because of the crossand the work of Jesus, Jesus
taught this in Matthew 6, 31-34.
Therefore, do not worry, saying,What shall we eat, or what shall
we drink, or what shall we wear?
For after all these things theGentiles seek.
For your heavenly Father knowsthat you need all these things.

(11:51):
But seek first the kingdom ofGod and His righteousness, and
all Therefore, do not worryabout tomorrow, for tomorrow
will worry about its own things.
Sufficient for the day is itsown trouble.
In the work of the cross, Jesusreconciled that curse that God
will provide all things for us.
And that's important, right?
That's what it means to trust inhim.

(12:12):
Literally, Jesus wanted toreconcile us back to the way it
was in the garden before thefall where the Father provided
all things for us.
And the final aspect of thecurse of Adam that was born was
that he would return Through thedeath and resurrection of
Christ, Paul says this in 1Corinthians 15, 20-28.
But now Christ has risen fromthe dead and has become the

(12:34):
firstfruits of those who havefallen asleep.
For since by man came death, byman also came the resurrection
of the dead.
For as in Adam all die, even soin Christ all shall be made
alive, but each one in his ownorder.
Christ the firstfruits, afterward those who are Christ's
that is coming.
Then comes the end when hedelivers the king You see,

(12:57):
Christ bore this curse by dyingphysically and overcame it by

(13:26):
being resurrected from the deadand then ultimately when we go
into not the millennial kingdombut into the new heaven and the
new earth then we will see deathultimately defeated completely
and then it will be the lastenemy defeated and God will be
all things for us as it shows inRevelation 21 and 22 now Christ
fully took this curse so but hetook all the curses of Adam did

(13:49):
he take all the curses of Eveabsolutely he did in Genesis 3
16 we God levied this curse onEve.
To the woman, he said, I willgreatly multiply your sorrow and
your conception.
In pain you shall bring forthchildren.
Your desire shall be for yourhusband and he shall rule over
you.
So the first curse on Eve isthat he would greatly multiply
sorrow and conception andbringing children in the world.

(14:12):
See, John 19, 31-34 says,Therefore, because it was the
preparation day that the bodyshould not remain on the cross
on the Sabbath, for that Sabbathwas a high day, the Jews asked
Pilate that their legs might bebroken and that they might be
taken away.
Then the soldiers came and brokethe legs of the first and of the
other who was crucified withhim.

(14:34):
But when they came to Jesus andsaw that he was already dead,
they did not break his legs.
But one of the soldiers piercedhis side with a spear and
immediately blood and water cameout.
You see, Jesus pierced in hisside, which is where woman came
from in Genesis 2, 21 through22.
And the Lord caused a deep sinAnd he slept, and he took one of

(14:57):
his ribs and closed up the fleshin its place.
Then the rib which the Lord Godhad taken from man he made into
a woman, and he brought her tothe man.
So when Jesus' side was pierced, the very root of the woman was
pierced.
Just as the body of the man wasdying on the cross and being
dealt with, the place of thewoman who was also stabbed and
dealt with while Jesus was onthe cross.

(15:20):
But when he was pierced, bloodand water flowed.
When the woman was cursed, it issaid that she would have sorrow
in conception and sorrow inchildbirth.
In both of these instances, blood and water flows from the
woman.
So by being pierced in his sideand blood and water flowing,
Jesus bore the curse that wasplaced on Eve.
This is why Paul is able to saythis to Timothy in 1 Timothy 2,

(15:43):
13-15.
For Adam was formed first, thenEve, and Adam was not deceived.
But the woman being deceivedfell into transgression.
Nevertheless, she will be savedin childbearing if she The last
part of the curse on Eve is thather desire would be for her
husband.

(16:04):
You see, when this is levied, the relationship between man and
woman changes.
Suddenly, the woman desired forthe man to love her, and more
often than not, the man lordedover her.
And we see that oftentimestoday.
We see it even in Westernculture, but particularly in
Eastern cultures where the manis the head and the man kind of
lords over the female.
That's not how it's done.

(16:24):
Yet in Ephesians 5, 22-28, thisis what Paul says, So here we

(16:56):
see the woman restored back toher rightful place as a helpmate
for the man.
But the man loves her more thanhis own flesh and is willing to
give his life for her.

(17:16):
This is the rightful place.
This is the rightful position ofthe partnership.
You know, even in my ownrelationship with my wife, yes,
I'm the head of the household, but I have a desire to provide
the things and the desires formy wife that she has and for my
children, just as Jesus does forus.
It's his good pleasure to dothat.
It's my good pleasure to dothat, too, where we're able.

(17:36):
So we have to look at that.
The woman here being reconciledback with the piercing of the
side is put back in her rightfulplace in partnership with the
man.
You know, going on, Jesus isalso pierced in his hands and
feet.
But in order, let's look at thehands first, though, because It
says, Then the Lord God took theman and put him in the garden of

(18:26):
Eden to tend it and keep it.
And the Lord God commanded theman, saying, Of every tree of
the garden you may freely eat,but of the tree of the knowledge
of good and evil you shall noteat.
For in that day that you eat ofit you will surely die.
Now this is an important piecebecause this was the only law on
the garden.
That was it.
There was no other law.
There was no law against kickingthe tiger.
So if Adam wanted to kick thetiger, he was free to kick the

(18:49):
tiger.
And there was no law againstthat.
Okay?
But...
At the end of the day, there wasonly one law, and it was not to
eat of the tree of good or evil.
So by doing so, the handtransgressed the law.
And to bear that act, Jesus wasnailed in his hands.
This is why Paul said in Romans6, 12-14, Therefore do not let

(19:11):
sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its
lusts.
And do not present your membersas instruments of
unrighteousness to sin, butpresent yourselves to God as
being alive from the dead, andyour members as instruments of
righteousness to God.
For sin shall not have dominionover you, for you are not under
the law, but under grace.
So you see, sin cannot havedominion because it was nailed

(19:33):
to the tree through Christ'shands.
The transgression of the law hadto be nailed just the way that
everything else was.
Now, he was also nailed in hisfeet.
And the nailing of his feet isthe fulfillment of the curse of
the serpent.
Genesis 3, 14-15 says, And morethan every beast of the field.

(20:24):
So once the foot was pierced andJesus died and the resurrection
took place, Jesus took back theauthority that was taken by the
serpent.
He in turn gives that authorityto us in Luke 10, 19.
You see, the authority given toAdam that was lost was now found

(20:52):
in Jesus Christ through the workof his cross.
And in doing so, the feet or theheel of Jesus was bruised, yet
the head of Satan was bruised aswell because it was the
overcoming.
And later in the glorifyingChrist, you're going to see his
feet are made of brass, whichrepresents overcoming sin,
treading over top of sin, all ofthose things.

(21:14):
So it's important to realizewhat Jesus took when that foot
was pierced as well.
So now the last thing here thatI want to kind of talk about is
that they gave him And thisfulfills Psalm 69, 18-21, where
it says, And look, these are themain points of what Jesus took

(22:21):
on the cross for us.
If you're listening to this Justknow that you have been fully
reconciled by the grace of Godthrough your faith.
Christ has taken all things thatwe may come into sonship or
daughtership with the Father theway that we were always intended
to be.
You see, it was after this, after all these things were
done, that I believe he yelled.

(22:43):
Now, some people say hewhispered.
Some people say other things.
But I believe he screamed at thetop of his lungs and roared like
the Lion of the tribe of Judahthat he was.
It is finished.
Then our reconciliation, ourcurses, the iniquity, the sin,
the transgression, all of itnailed to the tree and
sacrificed so that we may havepurity of heart and purity of

(23:05):
who we are.
The iniquity, the sin, thetransgression, all could now be
dealt with through the cross ofJesus Christ.
And I think that he yelled it.
I think he yelled it as finishedbecause it was the single
greatest act in human history.
Not only the single greatest actof love in human history, but
the single greatest act periodwas the death and resurrection

(23:26):
of Jesus Christ and this is onlypart of it because there are
still more things to see becausethere are more things that
actually happen because we gotto talk about what happened in
his death and what it trulymeant and now how we can now go
boldly before the throne ofgrace to obtain mercy to find
grace to help at the time ofneed but at the end of the day
all of these things have beennailed to that tree so if you're

(23:47):
struggling if you're strugglingtoday if you're struggling with
sin or iniquity or transgressionor if you're struggling with you
being worthy or if you'restruggling with the curses that
Adam had or any of the curses ofthe law or any of those things,
I want you to know this.
Jesus Christ died and he boreall of that for you.
He bore every single one of itfor you that you may live free,

(24:11):
trusting in him, because whomthe Son has set free is free
indeed.
And you are free through yourfaith in Jesus Christ.
The only question is how muchyou're going to trust him and
how much you're going to obeyhim.
Because if you obey him, thenwhoever is led by the Spirit of
God, they are the sons of God.
And you've got to make sure thatyou understand that.

(24:33):
If you obey him, if you walk theway that he wants you to, you
won't fulfill the lust of theflesh.
You won't fall back intoiniquity, into sin, or
transgression.
So make sure that you'refollowing him.
Make sure that you are doing thethings that he has asked you to
do.
So after this, there were stilla lot of things to do before the
fullness of the resurrection.
And we're going to talk aboutthat next week when we talk

(24:55):
about the death because all ofthis was the crucifixion and the
cross, but we have to talk aboutthe death of him and everything
that it accomplished from thetearing of the curtains to the
earthquake to why the sun wentdark for three hours to all of
these things.
There's a lot of things that westill need to cover.
Where Jesus went during thattime because that's important as

(25:17):
well.
You've got to understand thatbecause it's important.
So all of this matters.
All of this is important And Ijust hope you're getting
something out of it becauseJesus Christ did it all for us.
And the fact that he did it allfor us, it's important that we
study it out and make sure thatwe understand exactly what he
did.
Amen.
So with that being said, untilnext time, just remember this

(25:39):
simple truth.
The Father loves you.
Jesus loves you.
The Holy Spirit loves you.
God bless.
