Speaker 2 (01:11):
Hey folks, it's Greg
Phillips.
Welcome back to Patriot Games.
I'm going to give you an updatetoday on the situation in
Nicaragua.
Hearts are heavy.
We have learned that that thecourt has basically completed a
sham trial.
They brought them in.
They were given very littletime, if no time, to react to
(01:33):
the charges themselves.
They spread the trial out overa few days.
The total number of hours inthe trial, though, was less than
seven across the three days, and they have convicted them all
.
And just to kind of remindeveryone, if I could, what
exactly happened, so we gotinvolved with a group called
(01:55):
Shake the Nations and anotherone called Mountain Gateway.
Mountain Gateway is an amazinggroup of missionaries that is
really all throughout CentralAmerica.
They're based in the UnitedStates, a place called Dripping
Springs, texas, not too far fromAustin, and the Mountain
Gateway team, along with theShake the Nations team, got
together, with some support fromAmericans, and built a
(02:19):
mechanism through which theycould build on to the missionary
work and the mission field workthat was being done and do a
prayer crusade.
This was spread out over 2023.
It was two nights each, eightevents, so a total of 16 nights,
and they brought in over amillion people.
(02:40):
Even the last night, the lasttwo nights in Minagua, over
300,000 people came to the event.
So Catherine and I got involvedin this, went down to Nicaragua
a couple of different times, flew up into the mountains, was
able to join just an incrediblegroup of people who had come
together.
Literally hundreds of pastorsacross Nicaragua came together
(03:03):
to support this effort and whilethey were from maybe slightly
different denominations andcertainly different church
setups, they were able to reallybring all of these people
together.
And the just the first day wewere there, we had an
opportunity to go to a lunch.
And what the lunch was?
It was on a Thursday afternoonand we flew up into the
(03:25):
mountains.
As I said, when we got there, the government of course, had
their eyes on us, theirSandinista signs all over the
place.
They were flying drones over usover our helicopter, kind of
watching where we were going.
We went to a lunch with a groupof pastors the food was great,
by the way, and they prayed andthey all just came together in
worship and it was the mostamazing thing and they treated
(03:47):
us like we'd been their bestfriends the whole time and took
such good care of us and therewas so much love and care in the
room.
They took the time out to prayfor me and my health and it was
just, really just an incredibleadventure.
The next night went to a littleplace called Messiah, nicaragua,
on a Friday night, and, man, itpoured like you've never seen
(04:08):
before.
Thunderstorms just rain, rain,rain.
The field, as I tell everybodynow, you could literally feel
the blood of Christ in thatmuddy field.
And as that rain came down andthe storm went on and the
lightning and everything kind ofboomed in, the people just came
closer to the stage and when Ifirst saw the drone pictures
(04:29):
that emerged from that event, Iwas so blown away because from
the stage you could see it, butit also also bent up around a
corner, kind of dog laggedaround and you couldn't see.
So to us it looked like 40 or50,000 people, but there were
another 40,000 people kind ofaround the corner, if you will,
and it was amazing.
The next night was equallyamazing.
(04:50):
The folks that were involved.
Again, they prayed for me andwe saw healings and we saw Just
people being saved by thehundreds and it was just an
incredible adventure.
We had the great fortune then togo back again when they were in
Managua.
Managua was the last night.
It was on November 10th and11th.
(05:11):
On November 10th, I think Iheard there was 210,000 people
the first night and the secondnight was over 300,000 is the
estimate.
The second night I went walkingout into the crowd, much to the
chagrin of the security teams, and just walked as far as you
could walk and I ended upwalking down a boulevard that
was just full of people.
I think I walked a half a mileor a mile or so and people on
(05:35):
this boulevard that fed theNational Square couldn't get
there because there were so manypeople.
And it was just fantastic.
I mean, I had no fear, I had noconcern really, certainly not
over my own safety but of anyoneelse who was just such a loving
, incredible experience.
And the second night, inretrospect, there were some red
(05:56):
flags.
As you look out into even someof our pictures and some of our
video, you could tell that therewas an intelligence operation
ongoing in the crowd and reallytrying to keep it high on us.
There was also some evidence ofsatanic activity, but we just
kept praying and they keptpraying and the folks kept
(06:18):
moving closer and there was justjoyful music and it was just an
incredible adventure.
A month later, almost exactly amonth later, all of the pastors
that had been involved in theorganization of all of this
throughout the period in 2023were arrested and thrown into a
dungeon beneath the policestation in Minagua.
(06:39):
It was heartbreaking, to saythe least.
Not long after that, the mainguy, someone who befriended me,
and he and I just became hisfriends and we shared gifts with
each other before I left, andit was just.
He was just a super incredibleperson who had lived a life very
much like mine, but imagineliving that in a communist
(07:02):
country.
Jesus saved him and he turnedinto just an incredible minister
, an incredible missionary and aguy willing to risk his life to
have others be saved by ourLord and Savior, jesus Christ.
And they tried to break himwhile he was in the dungeon.
He wouldn't.
So they went out and picked uphis wife, who had the high crime
(07:23):
of taking care of some of thebooks around all of this,
because it was just a huge setof events and if you've ever
done events, you can imaginejust how much bookkeeping goes
on around that kind of thing.
And that was her.
That was her crime.
Well, they picked her up andbrought her into court to charge
her with some stupid chargesthat no one still to this day
exactly knows what charges were.
(07:44):
And they did a wellness videobased wellness check on her the
first time.
It looked to the observers asthough she had been tortured,
raped, beaten to the point whereshe couldn't even stand.
And the hard part for those ofus that knew the family is she
had at the time a three monthold, so she was the mama of a
three month old still nursingthe baby, and they picked her up
(08:07):
and did that tour.
It's heartbreaking to reallyknow that this has gone on and
remember all of this hashappened since December.
They charged them but theynever would read what the
charges were, just as the trialwas starting.
A week or so ago they finallyread the charges to them.
Completely absurd, absolutelyridiculous.
(08:28):
We have been in DC off and onalmost gosh, I guess for about a
month and just an incredibleoutpouring of bipartisan support
.
There've been Republicans,democrats, black White.
Nothing has really matteredhere.
The administration has beengreat Homeland Security and the
State Department and others.
There are major law firms thatare basically lobbyists in DC
(08:53):
that are getting involved inthis and there's been a pretty
sharply worded letter to theNick Rogwin embassy from a bunch
of Congress people and I don'tknow whether they actually
answered that or not.
Typically, these communistorganizations don't answer
anything.
They don't answer to God.
They don't answer, or at leastin their view they don't answer
to God.
They're gonna answer to God.
I can assure you that Judgmentday is gonna be really hard on
(09:16):
these folks.
The other thing that's happenedrecently is a resolution has
made its way it looks like it'smaking its way through the house
and a companion in the Senateand it's very exciting to know
that that's happening.
My friend, barry Moore, congressman in South Alabama,
has led the house side of thatand I understand that Rick Scott
is leading the Senate side ofthat, along with another Florida
(09:38):
senator, mark Rubio, andthey're pushing this resolution
through and normally things takeyear or years and I'm hopeful
that they're gonna get that donehere in the next couple of
weeks.
So we have all that going onwhile the trial is happening.
So all of that's going on.
They go in there the first day.
The trial's absolutely bogus.
They don't get to speak.
They don't even get to hear thecharges.
(09:59):
Until they go in there, thegovernment puts on their
witnesses a couple days later.
It's a couple of people thatjust they had nothing to do with
anything.
They were just people that hadshown up to have the people
arrested, and what we thoughtwas the final day of the trial
was last Friday, and then theybroke it off.
Finally, let the people thatwere detained let the lawyer
(10:21):
speak for a little bit, andwhile the lawyer did their best,
she was really unable to move acourt that was dead set on what
inevitably happened.
So they reconvened this pastMonday and then just abruptly
adjourned.
They brought it back inyesterday and found them all
guilty and we understand thatthey're going to be announcing
(10:44):
their sentences.
So what we have right now is wehave, I think, 12 pastors, one
pastor's wife, also a bookkeeper.
All have now been convicted.
The babies, we understand, aresafe now with their grandmother
and Nicaragua, but we areworking with really everybody
(11:06):
everybody on the planet, itfeels like to try to find a way
to get the babies out.
Tomorrow's sentencing, I think,is going to be difficult.
It's going to be hard to hearand I just the reason.
I wanted to just hop on andshare this podcast and we may
not even post it till tomorrow.
I don't quite know how we'regoing to do this, but this is a
(11:27):
time where, where I think thatJesus is really hoping and and
and leading us to cry out to himand the father and we, we still
fight this thing out here onthis dirt earth and we're not
given up by any stretch.
There's a lot, of, a lot ofdominoes still to fall here.
(11:48):
We've got some great attorneysthat are supporting us, not only
in DC, but another friend ofours is helping us with the
possibility, if maybe they'reexiled or something, maybe we
can help with that.
We're looking hard at thesafety of the kids and what we
can do to ensure that these twoyoung American citizens are
brought back to the UnitedStates and in safety.
(12:10):
And again, I think just prayingfor Walner and Marcella by the
parents of the babies and payingfor the rest of the pastors is
desperately needed at this time.
And I'm leaving for CentralAmerica here pretty quick and
I'll try to give an update whileI'm on the road.
We're trying to rally thesupport of others in in Central
America.
They might be able to help.
(12:31):
And we've got it.
Just as I said, we have atremendous number of people
willing and able to step upright now and really step into
this terrible situation in whichthese amazing pastors and these
people who had the absoluteaudacity to spread the word of
the gospel and the word of theLord to the people in Nicaragua,
(12:54):
saving millions, healingthousands, and this is what they
get, and I know the Bible ispretty pointed on this fact that
you know we will all bepersecuted for his name.
When it happens in this way,it's hard to see and it's hard
to hard to unsee.
It's hard to imagine that ourfriends Walner and Marcel and
(13:16):
their two babies are put in thisperil, and so I'm struggling a
lot with it.
But, as I said, we're doing allthat we can.
Everybody is.
There's been just hugeoutpouring.
But the one thing I would justask you now if you could just
just close your eyes and bowyour heads and pray with me for
these amazing people, and I'llget you an update as soon as the
(13:37):
actual sentencing happens, andthen, once we get a little
tighter grip on what the finaloutcome is, I'll let you know.
With that, please pray with me.
Dear God, we're coming to youtoday with heavy hearts,
thinking about our friends, their families, the pastors who
are growing through thisterrible and difficult time
(13:59):
because they had the audacity tobelieve in you.
They're in jail and we'll soonfind out what their punishment
will be.
It's so hurtful and so hard andand people everywhere are
watching and in in praying toyou for just your grace and and
and saving that not just thebabies but but all of the
(14:21):
pastors and all of those thatare involved.
We pray that you give themstrength and courage.
Help them feel your love andcomfort, especially now when
things are so hard, so difficult, so scary.
Help them remember that you'realways with them, no matter what
.
We also ask that you help guidethese judges and the people in
charge to be fair, to be kind,to open their hearts so that
(14:42):
they can see that thatpunishment Someone for loving
you just isn't right.
Please watch over theirfamilies of those who are in
trouble.
Give them hope, peace and letthem feel the support and
prayers of the people all aroundthe world and all around your
kingdom.
We believe that you do amazingthings, god.
We trust that you take care ofour friends and their families.
(15:03):
Thank you for always listeningto our prayers.
In Jesus' name, pray, amen.
Again, thank you so much forlistening in.
In this special update aboutNekaragua, I will I will try to
get a live update for you as itunfolds.
God bless you all.
Thank you so much for stickingwith us during this tough time
and God bless you and God blessAmerica.
