Sending State National Guardsmen overseas to fight for their country is an unfortunate fact of being an American. But what if it didn't have to be?
Well, Defend the Guard is a piece of legislation that could prevent State Level National Guards troops from being deployed overseas without a formal declaration of war. This hasn't been the protocol for nearly 100 years, but seems to be clearly outlined in Article 1 of the Constitution.
