Why is that?
Because it's Saturday.

(00:31):
I don't generally do any kindof a podcast on the weekend, but
I don't know.
I just felt like it tonight.
I just felt like doing this.
I don't know why.
I'm enjoying it very much.
Pat's Peeps 184.
It's dark outside as I take alook out my studio windows into

(00:52):
the beautiful foothills ofNorthern California, but today
was a lovely day and I workedall day.
I mean, I worked all dayyesterday and today.
I don't know if that's thegreatest way to spend a vacation
.
I mean, tomorrow is my last dayof my vacation.
When I say vacation, as Ialways tell you, I'm the host of
the Pat Walsh Show.

(01:12):
It was heard on the iHeartRadioapp free or free app and KFPK
in Sacramento.
But I've had a couple of weeksoff to rejuvenate.
I needed it, I tell you.
But tomorrow's my last day offand then back to work.
On Monday we begin a new year,Positive things to look forward

(01:35):
to, Wherever you are.
Thank you for listening tonight.
I just thought I'd like I say,do this one on a Saturday and,
quite frankly, the only thing Ihave on my mind is just goofing
off.
So I have nothing reallyrelevant in terms you know,

(01:59):
nothing earth shattering,nothing super important.
I need to break in on aSaturday for important stuff?
No, nothing super important.
I need to break in on aSaturday for important stuff?
No, I don't.
I just had a collection ofthings that I find fascinating.
So, if you don't mind, here onBats Peeps 184, I have some
audio gems for you.
I love audio, so I've got alittle mishmash of a variety of

(02:27):
things here that we'll dive into.
On Pat's Peeps 184.
We'll start with this one.
Being a radio guy those of youwho enjoy radio, I certainly do
I love working in radio.
Tough business to be in.
But there are legends in thisbusiness.
One of the big legends, as weall know, is the great Wolfman.

(02:48):
Jack baby, that's right.
The Wolfman, that's right, youknow.
Wolfman put out some music ofhis own back in 1972.
Wolfman, Wolfman, he gave SweetCaroline.
You know the great Neil Diamondsong that's still sung at
ballparks when everyone's in afestive mood.

(03:11):
Wolfman thought he'd give thatclassic a try.

Speaker 3 (03:15):
Okay, when it began I can't begin to know when I only
know it's getting strong, growing every day.

Speaker 2 (03:34):
Sometime back in the spring.
And then spring became summer.
Who'd have believed that you'dcome along, hands touching hands
?
Who'd have believed that you'dcome along, hands touching hands
, reaching out, touching you, touching me.

Speaker 4 (04:00):
That's right, baby.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
That was me.
Yeah, baby, sweet Caroline, things ain't never been so good.
Look at the night and it don'tseem so lonely.

(04:26):
Baby Smooth, we fill it up withonly two, and when I hit it
just runs off my shoulder.
How can I hurt when I'm holdingon to you One?
How can I hurt when I'm holdingon to you One?

Speaker 5 (04:53):
Touching one.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Reaching out, touching me, touching you.
Hey, now here we go.
Wolfman, these backup singersare serious.
Thank you, wolfman Jack, everyone, there he is.
There he is, ladies andgentlemen, the great Wolfman.

(05:16):
That's right, baby.
And if they ever ask you whatthe Pat's Peeps podcast is about
, or my radio show, the Pat WolfShow, probably I can't figure
it out myself.
Here is Scott Ladeau.
Scott Ladeau is a former boxer.
Scott Ladeau was fightingJohnny Boudreau back in the day.

(05:40):
You know Howard Cosell, one ofthe great broadcasters of all
time.
Just recently we were talkingabout broadcasters here on Pat's
Peeps 184, we present ScottLedoux talking about the time
where he knocked off this is.
You got to see the video too.

(06:01):
By the way, he knocked offHoward Cosell's toupee live,
live on ABC television.
Scott Ledoux, that guy couldfight.

Speaker 6 (06:13):
by the way, it was so frustrating to me that I had
won the fight and Papa Joe saidyou won this fight and
afterwards to get a decision, togo to Johnny Boudreaux and
prior to that I was training inMontreal and they were asking me
about the fight with BoudreauxI said I'm gonna.
I'm gonna knock him down, kickhis butt and beat him up.

(06:36):
And they said you won't get thedecision.
And I said what do you mean?
I won't get the decision?
We were on on the street, it'salready done.
And so I went to the NavalAcademy and fought and they held
true.
I lost the decision.

(06:57):
I got through the ropes andstood on the ring and hollered
at Cosell you tell it like it is, howard, you tell the truth.
And then Howard was looking upat me and then Johnny Boudreau
was looking up at me and saidsomething about my mother, and
so I tried to kick him in theface and he jumped back and his

(07:20):
foot got tangled in HowardCosell's headset, took his
toupee off.
I have that on film on a discthat isolates the toupee.
I look at it every winter andjust kind of run it back and
forth and it makes me laugh.

Speaker 1 (07:39):
Scott Ledoux.
It's great man.
I can't believe it took me allthese years to see that.
You know we just heard WolfmanJack doing a Neil Diamond song.
Sweet Caroline, speaking ofNeil Diamond, you ever heard
this one?
Here's Neil Diamond.
Ladies and gentlemen, here onBatch Peeps 184, I present to

(08:00):

I don't know how many of youmaybe have heard it, maybe some
Neil Diamond fans out there.
I'm a Neil Diamond fan.
I don't know how many of youmaybe have heard it.
Maybe some Neil Diamond fansout there.
I'm a Neil Diamond fan.
I love Neil Diamond.
There's just something abouthim.
But maybe not everyone hasheard Neil Diamond, the pot
smoker song.
Here he is.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
La, la la Pot pot.
Give me some pot.
Forget what you are, you can bewhat you're not.
High, high, I want to get high.
Never give it up if you give ita try, try high, high.
La la, la la la.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
I started when I was 13, and I had saw some people
smoking pot and I had saw somepeople smoking pot and I bought
myself a nickel bag and I wentbehind my building and sat on a
bench all by myself and I smokedthat bag, you know, until I
finally got high.
I started with pot because Iwas curious and at that time I

(08:58):
was having problems with myfamily.
I remember on one trip I was atparty and I got very sick from
speed, from meth, and I used toshoot it in my spine.
Jeez, I used to shoot acid inmy spine.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Ladies and gentlemen, I'm not making this up, neil
Diamond.
By the way, this is from thealbum Velvet Gloves and Spit.

Speaker 4 (09:28):
I had too much.
I was building a big thing upover a week and I got sick and I
tried to commit suicide.

Speaker 6 (09:36):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
La, la, la pot pot.
Give me some pot.
You get what you are.

Speaker 1 (09:42):

looked down.
I noticed I got a flat so Iwalked out, parked a car like
sideways, so I can find what Ican fix.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
I looked around, there was no car on my way.

Speaker 5 (12:20):
I felt estranged, feeling like a mist.
I walked down toward the end ofthe road and in the fog, a
woman appeared.
She said don't you worry, myfriend, I'll take care.
Take my hand, I'll take itthere.

Speaker 1 (12:51):

You know the U-Haul trailer, right, it is an icon of America,
american society.

(16:11):
It's the U-Haul trailer.
Here's the U-Haul trailer song.
Please enjoy.

Speaker 2 (16:18):
It's goodbye town, See you around.
Boss man on the job has been myjailer.
Come on, hon.
The packing's done and ourfuture loaded on the U-Haul
trailer.
Well, I'm driving to thenearest service station.
It has U-Haul trailers waitingin the road and I'll tell the

(16:40):
man at the time that I wasmoving to a place, somewhere
that I don't even know, and ifhe wants, to know my destination
.
Well, I'll tell him.
Pick out any place that's far.
Then he can hook that new andshiny U-Haul trailer to the back

(17:04):
of my old trusty beat-up car.
Then it's goodbye town, see youaround, boss.
Man on the job.
Job has been my jailer.
Come on, hon.
The pack is done and our futureloaded on.
Thank you, old train dude.
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
I don't think anyone can ever describe what is my
podcast all about.
I don't know.
I guess I don't know.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
It's not fair to make you put up with my weakness,
and I need the love you'vealways given me.
So it's goodbye town.
See you around, boss.
Man on the job, spin my jailer.
Come on, hon.
The pack is done and our futurenoted.

(17:46):
On U-Haul trailer yeah.

Speaker 1 (17:50):
Thank you very much.
U-haul trailer song right therefor you.
You know one thing that I doenjoy doing and people tell me
all the time oh, you're a goodwhistler.
Little vibrato in there, alittle vibrato in there.

(18:13):
They have some very oldinstructional whistling videos
that you can check.
Here's Fred Lowry.
It's a rare instructional videoon how to whistle.
In case you don't know how towhistle, he'll teach you.

Speaker 8 (18:36):
I'll try to go along with it.
Yes, whistling is real fun andI'm going to try to show you how
it's done.
But first of all let's talk alittle bit about breathing.
When you get up in the morning, stand erect shoulders back.

Speaker 1 (18:48):
Oh, that's for sure You're not joking, Fred.
How'd you know?
Take a real deep breath, likethis that guy needs to get some
of that.
He's got like nasal congestion.
Take a deep breath like thisShit.

Speaker 8 (19:16):
Always keep your mouth closed when deep breathing
.
Now, try and do this at least10 or 15 times in the morning
and at least 10 or 15 times atnight before you go to bed.
You'll find it very effective.
Sure, now we're ready for thewhistle, and first of all,
briefly, let's just take a fewdo's and don'ts when you whistle
try and keep a real pleasingpucker.

Speaker 1 (19:39):
In other words don't pucker your lips too tight.
It might be a good idea if youget a mirror, yeah get a mirror
for your pleasing puckerPractice.
What are you doing in there, honey?
I'm just trying to find mypleasing pucker.
That's good dear.

Speaker 8 (19:49):
Your facial expressions as pleasing as
possible for others to look at.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
As pleasing as possible for others to look at.
You don't want to be an uglywhistler.

Speaker 8 (20:02):
Second, always breathe in and then whistle on
the outtake of the breath.
Don't whistle while breathingin, because this cools your
vocal cords.

Speaker 1 (20:13):
Let me whistle on it.
I don't ever do that.
Let me try to whistle him.
I'm going to whistle out to him.
Let's see, that's not a goodone.
No one does that.

Speaker 8 (20:30):
No one whistles in oh and one other thing, uh-huh.
When you're whistling, I'vealways found it best to keep the
tongue right back of the teeth.
You'll get the best resultsthis way and get a more
beautiful whistle.
First of all, let's take someexercises.
Here's the first one.
You'll notice that this is justa plain whistle.

(21:01):
Later on I'm going to give youa little exercise to get a
beautiful little tremolo on yourwhistle, something like the
violin.
And then let's take the nextlittle exercise.
You notice, the first one islegato and staccato, or the

(21:23):
first one.

Speaker 1 (21:23):
We connect the notes.
Thank you, ed Lowry, everyone.
There he is.
Hopefully you learned somethingand now you'll know how to
whistle you.
Look, you can impress yourfriends.
Here's something extremelyannoying.
The song was annoying to beginwith in 1995, but then you hand
it over to alvin and thechipmunks.
It takes annoying to an all-newlevel.

(21:46):
Already annoyed most of you, already annoyed put your hand up
in the air like you just don'tcare.

I left the world while I waseating macarons.
I left the world while I waseating macarons and macarons.
My daughter was without myboyfriend.
The boy's name was Alessandro.
I don't want him, can't standhim.
He was my good son.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
Here's the guy, the guy's chastising one of the
listeners, one of the guys youknow, one of the dog owners.

For an example we have with ustoday a dropout from our
training school.
Mr Timid, have you evercorrected your dog's jumping and
barking problem?
No, I haven't.
Well, why not?
We've shown you a method thatworks.
Well, I would never correctRover, I just can't be that

(26:22):
cruel.
He will probably straighten upanyway.
May I ask what you will do withhim if he doesn't straighten up
, be it as little?
Oh, I may give him away to somegood home.
The chances are that the peopleyou give your problem to, mr
Timid, will not have very muchpatience with him, as they have

(26:42):
no real attachment to him.
I didn't think of that.

Speaker 1 (26:47):
Mr Timid, ladies and gentlemen, you know it's been a
long time since I'd heard of MrTimid.
It's good to hear from Mr Timidagain.
Ah, pat's Peeps 184.

little quicker.
Podcast today nothing off theshelf today, nothing off of the
shelf.

(27:08):
How about this one?
I think this will be a greatone to end it with.
This is from the 1960s.
This is from Everything isComing Up Prophets, the Golden
Age of Industrial Musicals, volume One, which, by the way,
this is indeed an audiocompanion to the book, in case

(27:31):
you were wondering.
