Anyhow, I jumped way ahead rightthere.
I haven't even told you that asI look out my beautiful the
studio windows into thebeautiful foothills of Northern
California, it is a nice day.
It's weird.
It's because it's like the sunwants to kind of come through.
But the last couple days it'sbeen cloudy but sunny and not
(01:38):
too cold, which has been nice, and now it seems like we're
going to get some sunshine inthe next few days and then
perhaps some rain by nextweekend.
So that's where we are.
I hope you're doing well.
You know, on the 213th Pat'sPeep, I said it was updated
because someone thank you tolistener Eileen, who let me know
(01:59):
that apparently what was listedas 213 was actually somehow uh,
I don't know, it turned out tobe like our valentine's day
pat's peep.
So we updated.
That is all.
I meant that we got the rightone up there.
We had some kind of a, an erroror whatever, but hopefully
everything is straightened up.
You know, uh, I have to.
(02:22):
I have to be honest about'm sohappy and, by the way, my last
podcast man.
We got lots of peopledownloading my last podcast 213.
Was it 213?
Let me double check.
I believe it was.
Yeah, number 213.
See, I learned from you guyswhat you guys want to hear,
which is really great, thank you.
(02:42):
Apparently, you want to hearmore cursing.
I don't know.
That was the Ralph Williams carads where he was cursing um, I
don't know what it was, butthat's cool.
Maybe it was a story about RushLimbaugh, dave Williams, bob
Nathan, what have you, eitherway, love that you're listening
(03:02):
to the podcast.
A lot, lot of people are tellingme they're calling my radio
show.
By the way, I'm Pat Walsh, hostof the Pat Walsh Show on KFBK
Radio in Sacramento, 93.1 FM,1530 AM.
We stream live everywhere onyour free iHeart app, just like
my podcast does.
A lot of people calling my showand saying hey, pat, I've been
listening to your podcast orcatching up on your podcast.
(03:24):
So thank you, thank you, thankyou, thank you very much.
You know, one of the things Iwant to mention this morning is
and I would not normally maybedo this Normally, I would not
delight in someone losing theirgig.
(03:45):
I mean, I'm going to be honestwith you, I would not delight in
that at all.
But you know, when you are whatI would consider to be, and I
don't want to get too, too heavy, but when I consider you to be
an outright liar and a racistand a race baiter and all that,
and you lose your position, which I'm completely mystified
(04:08):
to begin with that you have thatposition.
It's truly remarkable thatpeople who can speak like this
have a show to and they have aplatform to give us these racist
, racist thoughts, and JoyReid's one of them.
(04:29):
Unbelievable, I mean.
Rarely have I seen anyone whois truly this racist with a show
, with a show and again the ideathat she could have a platform
(04:52):
to race bait.
It's not unusual because we seeit all the time, but MSNBC is
one of the in my opinion, one ofthe biggest at doing this, one
of the most well-known.
So guess what happens when, apparently not always, there's
still a few shows on that Icould name.
But when you are this racist, Imean even the racist MSNBC,
(05:16):
ridiculous network of MSNBC saidyou know what you got to go,
you know, if you believe thatJoy Reid axed them, why her show
was being axed, I would commentthat there's a lot of reasons,
quite frankly Again, one beingthat it's all racist, bigoted
(05:39):
lies.
That's why.
So, yeah, so, msnbc cancels.
Joy reeds evening show, held atense meeting with her staff
after the news was leaked, whatever doggone it I forgot to.
(06:00):
You know I had.
I was going to edit some ofthis stuff up for you just to
give you some examples of herrhetoric.
Speaker 2 (06:06):
To be a black person
in you know 2024 in America is
to be in a state of completeperplexed confusion about.
You're kidding me.
What is wrong with a countrythat hates your history Really?
Speaker 1 (06:21):
Really she says in
Black History Month, someone who
I don't know has her own showdespite her racist thoughts, but
she's oppressed and confused in2024.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Wow, To this day
can't admit even the basics of
what was done to your ancestors.
Speaker 1 (06:45):
Are you out of your
mind?
How long?
Listen, let me me ask you aquestion, not to be insensitive
to anyone or anything.
How, how many decades do wehave to admit that, that that
happened for a while, for years, for too long, and you have the
gall to sit there.
Well, you can't even admit, noteven the basic facts.
I'm sure it's been admittedtime and time and time again.
(07:08):
So this is again spewing racist, race-baiting manure.
Speaker 2 (07:14):
Can't accept any
responsibility for the lack that
has carried through theentirety of the existence of you
in this country.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Through the existence
of you in this country.
Yeah, you really are oppressed.
Again, you have your owntelevision show and you get to
spew this trash.
Speaker 2 (07:31):
But yeah, you, you,
poor thing gosh, I think 60
years of relative freedom isenough.
And to find out that literallybarack obama's two terms in as
president are your reparations, and Juneteenth, which you
already celebrated anyway.
Speaker 1 (07:49):
I didn't.
I honestly didn't.
I mean I don't.
I've never sent out a card forJuneteenth, whatever.
To each their own, but you'retalking about like I've
celebrated.
That's a tradition in the Walshhousehold, Juneteenth.
No, you don't know peopleyou're speaking.
You're just making generalitiesabout people.
Speaker 2 (08:10):
Reparations, and yet
you built this country.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
Right, okay.
So what are you saying?
You want reparations.
So I guess she wantsreparations.
Okay, let's listen.
Speaker 2 (08:26):
You literally
physically built this country
Really, and yet the attitudetoward you from a lot of your
peers and your fellow citizensis just shut up.
Speaker 1 (08:37):
Really To you.
It's just shut up.
Most of my black friends, whichI have, have a lot wish you
would shut up and, by the way, none of them are asking for
reparations.
Be grateful, be grateful andit's.
Speaker 2 (08:53):
It's infuriating to
be a black yeah yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
So let's just take
off what she said.
Let's just take, because shesaid that's such a fact, right,
that built on the backs ofblacks.
Okay, no one could admit that.
Okay, well, first of all, let'sgo down the list, shall we?
Let's think about, I don't know, maybe Italians.
Let's start with Italians.
(09:18):
I'm going to Italy soon.
You know, many Italianimmigrants arrived in this
country in the late 19th and20th centuries.
Many Italians you want to talkabout a labor force worked
primarily in things likeconstruction, mining,
manufacturing.
Italians, joy, just like blackswho came to this country, were
(09:43):
instrumental in buildinginfrastructure like railroads
and bridges and buildings.
They had a cultural influenceon the country.
Of course, if you think aboutit, italians brought rich
cultural traditions to Americafood, music, festivals.
These have become an integralpart into our society, american
(10:03):
culture, the celebration ofItalian heritage.
It can be seen in all kinds ofevents.
Joy, just look around you.
I know you don't want to doyour homework, columbus Day,
various local festivals but youdidn't like Columbus Day because
somehow that's racist, right,it's a way to get rid of that
because of your beliefs.
Let's talk about my ownheritage.
(10:24):
What about the Irish immigrants?
First of all, during the workcrisis during the great famine
in the mid-19th century.
This led to a significant waveof Irish immigration and many of
the Irish worked as laborers.
They worked in harsh conditionsJoy, you should look this up
(10:48):
particularly on railroads.
They worked in canals.
They worked in factories.
They were very involved inpolitical participation.
The Irish, the Irish immigrants, formed strong communities.
They became involved in helpingto shape urban policies.
Through their politics helpedplay key roles in the labor
(11:10):
movement in the United States.
You can find this out by justdoing a little research.
Open up your encyclopediaBritannica, joy, instead of
being a racist, this is why youwere fired.
How about the Chinese?
We could go down all of thesegroups of people.
You know Chinese.
(11:31):
You think anyone worked harderin the railroad construction in
this country than the Chinese?
Chinese laborers were crucialduring the construction of the
transcontinental railroad in thelate 19th century.
Do you think Joy would mentionthat?
No, she's not going to mentionthat.
You know the Chinese facedangerous working conditions,
(11:54):
incredibly dangerous conditionsand, joy, believe it or not
discrimination on many levels.
Also, if you look at thecultural contributions of the
Chinese, they brought uniquecultural elements to America as
well Cuisine festivals, like Imentioned, the Lunar, new Year,
the establishment of Chinatowns.
They've enriched Americanculture.
(12:15):
You have other immigrant groupsthat are very diverse to
America, joy.
Immigrants from Europe, latinAmerica don't forget about them,
I know it's all about you, joy.
The Middle East, africa, contributing to agriculture, to
(12:39):
technology, various industries, ensuring that the US economy
continues to grow.
Do you think she'd give you onesingle example of anything that
any white person or immigrantthat is non-black did in this
country?
That was great Penicillin.
(13:01):
There's a whole litany ofthings.
You could go right down theline, right Right, you talk
about cultural enrichment.
Each immigrant group hascontributed its own cultural
heritage, has influencedAmerican music, art, fashion,
culinary practices.
So when you want to tell usthat it was literally built on
(13:26):
the backs of those people whoyou want to say it was built on
which, in part, it was just likeeveryone else I mentioned here,
immigrants have not only helpedbuild the physical
infrastructure of the UnitedStates.
They've enriched the nation'scultural fabric, stories of
resilience and integration intosociety.
(13:49):
There is a much broadernarrative of America as a
melting pot, but joy is notgoing to deal in those kind of
truths.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
We've had.
That is dispositive of whatthings could be like now.
The midterms in 2022 are muchmore to me.
Dispositive of what?
Because women are not less madnow.
They're more mad because morewomen have died.
There have been 62,000 babiesborn of rape that we know of.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
How many were
murdered, or some people would
say, through abortion.
Again, you can't mention thosekind of facts.
Anyone who is raped, you haveto have sympathy, no matter what
, for their situation.
Speaker 2 (14:33):
So if you actually
are saying that, oh and it's,
you're a fascist I mean, in theend, you know, if they didn't
make their numbers andessentially exceed the numbers
that joe biden had in thesuburbs, and I think we have to
be blunt about why.
Um, black voters came throughfor kamala harris.
White women voters did not.
Oh, darn white women.
(14:54):
Um, that is what it appearshappened in that state.
Um is that if you can't flipenough white women and we've
talked about this on this setnumerous times- yeah, we know
you have, but it's a state whyyou'll part of the part of the
reason you lost the electionwhere women lost their
reproductive rights, where therewas a very heavy push to get
women to focus on not putting inplace, you know, reelecting,
(15:18):
putting back into the WhiteHouse the person who was
responsible for taking thoserights away and restoring them.
But that message obviously wasnot enough to get.
Speaker 1 (15:26):
This just goes on.
And on Some of the mostdisgusting things I've ever
heard anyone say, let me see,and I can only take so much of
this.
Believe me, I understand youtoo.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
David, I have some
stats.
Speaker 1 (15:40):
No, let's do this,
let's do this one, and then I'm
going to get off of this.
I want to really demonstratewhy.
Another reason why I find thatI'm not sad that that this woman
, joy reed, is off the air.
Speaker 2 (15:56):
We begin our final
right here, here you go and we
begin our final sprint, havingarrived at that point in the
election season where, basically, we on this side of the tv
screen have said all we can no,you've laid out the stakes in
this crucial election, where oneside stands for freedom while
the other meets the textbookdefinition of fascism.
Speaker 1 (16:16):
So you, if you did
not vote for Kamala Harris in
this past election, meet thetextbook definition of fascism.
Namely a far-right dictatorialregime like right okay hitler's
germany or franco's spain ormussolini's italy, but this is a
(16:38):
person who just simply doesn'tknow history.
When you talk about thesepeople she's mentioning right
now and then put them in thecontext with what's happening in
america right now, you're socompletely lost and out of touch
that it's it's truly absurd,it's beyond absurd.
Visit some of these countries,go, go, go see, see reality,
(17:04):
learn, because you're justsaying things to
sensationalizing and get me, thepeople like me, to react, oh,
and to lose your job white ruledsouth africa before mandela and
the black majority took control, or vladimir putin's russia,
victor orban's hungary, ornicolas maruro in venezuela
today how long do you think ittook her to google all those
(17:26):
names?
it?
Speaker 2 (17:26):
suppresses the rights
of women and minorities.
Speaker 1 (17:29):
Right, yes, you poor,
suppressed your rights and
minorities.
Yeah, you have a.
Let's see a black woman runningfor president, who you claim
barely lost for weren't a bunchof racist and bigoted whiteys.
And you're a white, a blackwoman who was on TV telling us
how oppressed you are.
Speaker 2 (17:46):
This is the military
to execute the whims of a
strongman dictator strongmandictator.
Speaker 1 (17:53):
Okay, oh, okay,
controls and suppresses the
press.
You know what a strongmandictator is controls and
suppresses the press, education, the arts oh my god, really tell
me what donald is.
So you have people throwingstatues because they feel like
it's, because they're woke intothe bay.
(18:15):
Tearing down statues, cancelculture and then you're going to
spew this Rewrites history tosuit a favored and dominant
racial class.
That's what we're doing.
Speaker 2 (18:25):
And foments
extravagant corruption in order
to enrich the dictator and hisfriends.
Speaker 1 (18:31):
What?
And you wonder why she wasfired.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
We've warned you
about Donald Trump's profound
unfitness for office from histheft of classified documents.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
Shut up.
I can't take it anymore.
Honestly sorry, I just can'ttake it.
Any answer, she's gone.
Final episode is going to airthis week, or maybe it was last
week, I don't know.
Don't keep track too much, Idon't watch this.
Replaced by a show led by atrio of hosts Democratic
(19:02):
strategist Simone Sanders, townsend blah blah blah.
Former Republican NationalCommittee chair Michael Steele.
Journalist Alicia Menendez, currently hosting the Weeknd.
Don't care, she's hosted thistrashy show since 2020.
She's been with the companysince 2014.
(19:26):
They've also removed AlexWagner whoever that is from her
weekday evening spot.
I don't know who that is.
Anyhow, speaking of that kind ofstuff, I couldn't believe the.
I got an incredible responsefrom a video I reposted this.
(19:48):
I'd actually done this on April3rd I think it was several
years ago, 2019, I believe.
I reposted this because Ididn't think a lot of people had
seen it, and when I repostedthis on Facebook, I tell you I
got more feedback than anythingI've ever posted on Facebook or
(20:11):
on social media media for thatmatter.
And this was.
I was at Highway 49 at Bell Roadup there in Auburn one day and
I saw a protest going on and Ithought you know, I'm going to
go out there and I'm just goingto, as they say, kill them with
kindness.
And all of their signs wereanti-Trump and F-Trump and dump
(20:33):
Trump, and all of this, whateverthey said.
And I thought, heck, yeah, they're out there.
You know, their first amendmentrights, freedom of speech,
freedom of expression.
With their signs.
And I thought, hey, I'd go mixit up with them and say hi in a
very kind and gentle way, but itreally, in my opinion of many
(20:54):
others, apparently, uh, exposeda bit of hypocrisy here.
Let's go, let's try this, let'ssee.
There we are, there we go.
Freedom of expression huh, herewe go.
What's of expression?
Huh, here we go.
What's your sign say?
What's it say?
(21:16):
It says Dump Trump, dump Trump, freedom of expression, baby,
right, right, that's right, right Right, dump Trump.
God bless our President, donaldTrump.
God bless President Trump.
God bless President Trumpeverybody.
God bless our president andAmerica.
(21:37):
She literally said no.
Speaker 2 (21:40):
What am I?
Speaker 1 (21:41):
doing.
God bless the president.
Speaker 2 (21:44):
John, if you're a
blessing, you got to bless Putin
too because they're together.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
God bless, god bless
the president and Putin.
So if I'm a heckler, then if Isay God bless the president, it
just sounds aggressive.
I said God bless the president.
Yeah, it sounds like you'retrying to start a fight with
Putin.
Oh, god bless our president, have a great day.
It sounds aggressive, I'm aheckler.
Great day, it sounds aggressive, I'm a heckler.
(22:13):
It sounds like you're starting, you're trying to start a fight
by literally smiling and sayingGod bless the president, have a
great day.
God bless the president, I wasa heck.
Their signs were okay right Atthe beginning.
Freedom of expression, right, yes, yeah, dump trump, dump
trump.
But as soon as it turned intogod bless trump, no, you're
(22:38):
starting, you're trying to starta fight.
I mean, you know, I talk aboutexposing hypocrisy.
Wow, that was pretty uh, but.
But thank you for all of the uh, I guess attention or feedback.
I got him on that video for anoldie but goodie.
I don't know, I might see, Imight go out to.
(22:59):
You know, listen, I'm nottrying to go out there and be a
jerk or nothing.
I'm just I'm trying to be nice.
My thing is to get him withkindness.
You know, exposing thehypocrisy in a nice way, nicely
exposing hypocrisy.
Hey, I pulled this record off myrecord shelves today Very
(23:20):
popular.
This is the first time that Iquestioned myself like, did I
already do this one?
But I don't think I did, to behonest, because it has a B side
and I don I don't recall hearingthe B-side.
Maybe I'm wrong, I don't know,or what it could have been was.
I have another copy of this andthat might be possible, like in
a picture sleeve or something, and then I just found another
(23:42):
copy of it.
So either way, it's a good tune, why not?
So this song always reminds meof the 1980s New Wave Band
recorded in 1982.
It was their third single andit was their second single from
their self-titled debut album, and this one topped the chart in
Australia.
It reached number seven in NewZealand, went to number nine
(24:02):
here in the United States andwas not as successful in Europe,
only reached number 31 inGermany, which kind of surprises
me.
Actually, in the band's homecountry, or in the United
Kingdom, it reached number 43.
However, the song was certifiedsilver In an article for that
(24:28):
rag Rolling Stones that I usedto respect and no longer do, as
I always say titled Aglomania, the second British invasion Park
, pewterberg Pewterba wrote ofthe impact of the song's music
video on its US chart success.
Fronted by a singer, synthplayer.
With that, this will give itaway, probably With a haircut
(24:53):
stranger than anything you'dlikely to encounter in a month
of poodle shows.
This band struck gold on theirfirst try.
The lead vocalist, mike Skor, says that there were two main
sources of inspiration for thissong.
I swear I did.
I mean, either I'm having adeja vu or I did this one before
(25:16):
.
I don't know I might be havinga deja vu.
Anyone ever get a deja vu.
We should talk about that on myshow tonight.
I'm going to write that down.
Deja vu Is that real?
It does happen, right.
Anyhow, I think I might behaving one right here on my
podcast.
I think that was in my deja vu,that I just said that.
(25:36):
Anyhow, let's see.
So this song.
A member of the group wouldregularly visit this Eric's Club
in Liverpool, where one of thebands had a song with this title
, and he noted that because ofthis band, they'd rehearse right
after returning from Eric's.
Then the song title and thechorus may have got stuck in his
(25:58):
head.
Then there was another ideafrom a poster at Zoo Records at
their office.
The band had gone there withthe intent of securing a record
contract.
They wanted to use this posterwhich featured a man and a woman
running away from a flyingsaucer as a cover for their
first record, and the depictionalso helped spark the song's
(26:20):
unusual they say, space-likelyrics, recorded at Battery
Studios in London, producer MikeHowlett.
New wave synth pop song andvery memorable though I believe
(26:40):
I mean you go back to 1982, whohadn't heard of the flock of
seagulls?
Iran, pat's Peeps 214.
It's on Arista Records blue.
It is in mint condition and itdoes have a B-side.
By the way, no radio stickerson it of any kind.
(27:13):
Unauthor Records, which is apart of Arista.
Thank you, guitar solo.
(28:17):
I walk along the avenue.
I never thought I'd meet a girllike you, meet a girl like you
With open hair and tawny eyes, the kind of eyes that hypnotize
me through, hypnotize me through.
(28:40):
And I ran.
I ran so far away, I just ran.
I ran all I ever need.
I couldn't get away.
(29:16):
I still like this one.
It still sounds pretty goodafter all these years, and I
wasn't a big 80s guy.
Still sounds pretty good,though.
And I ran, I ran so far away, Ijust ran.
(29:43):
I ran all night and day.
I couldn't get away.
(30:22):
So so there's a flock ofseagulls.
I ran.
But again, there's a song,there's a B-side to this.
So again it's on Jive Records asubsidiary of Arista.
So the other side is called, let's see here, pick Me Up, pick
(30:43):
Me Up.
You can impress your friendssome with the flip side of Iran
by a flock of seagulls.
Here it is Pick Me Up, flock ofSeagulls, we'll be right back.
Speaker 2 (31:33):
You make me stop with
every word you say why don't
you go away?
I never thought that you wouldunderstand.
Or did you have a plan?
I saw you on the street theother day, but you just turned
(31:55):
away.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
You leave me lonely,
sad, depressed and blue Can't
take my mind off you.
I need a pick-me-up, pick-me-up.
I need a pick-me-up.
Pick-me-up.
I need a pick-me-up.
Pick me up, pick me up.
I need a pick me up, pick me up.
I need a pick me up, pick me up.
(32:20):
I saw a friend of yours theother day but she just turned
away.
I never thought that she couldunderstand.
It, just got out of hand.
You know I've never heard thissong, but if you were to ask me
to guess who it was upon firstlistening, you know who I would
guess.
This is Flock of Seagulls.
(32:41):
You know I did like the othersong by them, space Age Love
song, right by Flock of Seagulls.
One of my favorite songs bythem is that one they released
(33:04):
in the later 80s.
Goodbye.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Joy Reid yeah.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
Pats peeps 114.
Happy Monday.
See you for 2.15 manana.
See you on the radio.
