Speaker 1 (00:20):
welcome back to the pats peeps podcast.
Yep, we're still here.
Welcome back to the Pats Peepspodcast.
Yep, we're still here.
This is a Monday Now, the 19thday of May, birthday in the
books.
I'm looking out my studiowindows into the beautiful
foothills of Northern California, wishing you a happy Monday and
telling you that it'sabsolutely gorgeous.

(00:42):
The weather again, again.
I've been talking about thisfor the last few podcasts and
thank you for listening.
The weather has beenspectacular, by far the best
weather I can imagine.
The spring is the best springthat I've seen in years.
It's sunny, it's not too hot.
I was looking ahead because ofthe Strawberry Music Festival

(01:05):
that I am attending this weekand it is going to be.
The weather is going to be justoutstanding, like highs in the
mid-70s.
You know and here we are again, may 19th.
A lot of times in the past, byMay 19th, we've already, you
know, gone from rain intostraight up or even winter.
You know a lot of rain intostraight up or even winter.

(01:25):
You know a lot of snow intostraight up hot temperatures,
but this year, spectacular.
So thank you so much for fortuning in.
Um, I took one day off.
I took Friday off because of mybirthday, had a little birthday
party on Saturday and, um, andI always hate to miss a day, but
I just had such a good time, Ihad a wonderful time.

(01:48):
You got to be off sometime, right, and I figured that would
be the perfect day to take theday off, visit, catch up with
friends and family.
My sister came here from Clovis, california.
My brother, steve, came fromWest Sacramento.
Unfortunately, the rest of myfamily family, many of them,
live in Arizona and for avariety of reasons they were

(02:08):
unable to attend.
So we're gonna get together.
But heck, we had Ken Dogg here.
Ken Dogg Jackman, my moviereviewer or critic.
Good friend, listen, I shouldn'teven start going down this path
because I'll I'm gonna forgetsomeone, but I'll just kind of
mention Darlene with a Y, ryanHarris, the guys in the band my

(02:29):
band that I've been singing withand playing music with and just
kind of jamming with, were here.
My sister-in-law, mary Denise,mark McKee's widow, who was a
great friend.
Mark the voice guy who was withthe show.
Lyle was here.
See, now I'm going to forgetpeople.
Robin, the interrupter, washere.
Her son, ted Jason Allen, myessentially my stepson, who has

(02:50):
been on one of my Pats Peepspodcast I mentioned Ryan.
Listen, I'm going to forgetsomeone and then I'm going to
feel bad because there were somany.
There were so many good people.
The fact is that we had a blastand, honestly, it was the first

(03:12):
time that I've really hostedanything at my home since I've
done all the remodeling andsince I've done everything over
the last, let's say, five or sixyears.
I wanted to get it done and so,yeah, this is the first time

(03:33):
and I can tell you honestly andI've always taught, by the way,
I'm the host of the Pat WallShow on KFBK Radio in Sacramento
, 93.1 FM, 1530 AM, and on myshow I'm always endorsing local
businesses, like I do here onPat's Peeps.
Some of the businesses that Iendorse on my show are Southgate

(03:54):
Glass they did my French doorsin my living room American River
Flooring they did my flooring,my painting inside and out.
Anyhow, all of the people whohave done work on my home that I
have endorsed, who changed thelook of my home from essentially
what was really dilapidated, almost, I think, and most people
would say no, it wasn't, but tome, in my eyes, it just needed

(04:17):
a lot of TLC built in 1910, andnow it has it and people walked
in and I was so proud.
We had the back deck which Ijust had put in.
French doors lead out to theback deck and then my new front
porch with my new front porchcover.
We had a great time at my firepit.
It's one of the first timesI've been able to use the fire

(04:40):
pit and it was a big hit.
Not only was it relaxing to sitaround as we listened to music,
you know, kept the bugs away, and all of that.
It was a beautiful evening,weather-wise.
Uh, I I just can't see enoughgood things about it and I thank
everyone who showed up.
I mean, truly, I had a goodtime and felt blessed to have so

(05:05):
many good people come up Now,and not only, you know.
And then everyone was sogenerous.
I didn't ask anyone to bringanything, but people did.
And essentially, when, at leastin my case, when people give me
gifts and they're so doggonenice about it, when people give

(05:25):
me gifts and they're so doggonenice about it, I'm not
exaggerating when I tell you Iprobably got.
I have a cabinet, the entirecabinet.
Now the top of it is filledwith whiskey Irish whiskey, like
I probably got.
I don't know, eight bottlesmaybe of different Irish

(05:48):
whiskeys, everything fromTullamore Dew to Proper 12 to
Jameson, to a couple that I hadnever tried, which are delicious
.
So now I have this, all of thisIrish whiskey.
Right, I don't even.
I mean I enjoy Irish whiskey, don't get me wrong, I do, but
everything for me is inmoderation.
I would look at that and go, oh, my god, I can't believe I

(06:09):
consumed this, even if it tooktwo years.
I would go, wow, did I reallydrink all of those bottles?
So I have to share this, mypoint being not only were they
generous, was everyone sogenerous that way, but then they
were generous with the beer.
Now I have more beer.
I've got, I tell you, I've got,I've got a cooler jammed with
beer.

(06:29):
My refrigerator open it up.
It's like I don't even haveroom for food.
He's jammed it with beer.
Now that's not even good to.
To get to the wine that wasgiven to me, I literally have a
of wine.
What I'm trying to say is I'mfully loaded with this stuff,
fully stocked.
I feel like a liquor store.

(06:50):
I would hope that it would takeme a very, very long time to
consume that much liquor.
That should take years.
But here's the deal, what I'mgoing to do, because there were
certain people who couldn't makeit for a variety of reasons.
So what I'm gonna do is I'mgonna have another party and

(07:11):
it's gonna it's gonna be calledsomething like the please come
to my home and help me drink abunch of this liquor that people
gave to me because they're sodang on generous on my birthday
party.
Problem with that, right Rightaway as I'm thinking this
through.
So you got to think thingsthrough, thinking it through and

(07:36):
what seems like a good idea.
Now, of course, you could drinkagain in moderation if you have
a couple of beers.
But here is the issue there are.
It's not like I live rightacross town when you can Uber or
take a Lyft or whatever.
I do live up in the foothills,so to ask someone to come up and

(07:57):
drink and then get back home, unless there's a designated
driver, of course, or unlessthey have a hotel up here or
something like that, it's umdoggone.
It now that I'm thinking thatthrough.
So here's the thing.
I'm going to have a lot ofbooze sitting around my house
for a long time.
At some point I might finishthe beer, you know, but you know

(08:17):
I that was part of it and I'mso grateful, honestly.
We'll figure it out.
I'll have other gatherings.
We'll figure it out.
I'll have other gatherings.
We'll do it in moderation,we'll have a good time.
So thank you to everyone whocame up.
Another thing that was veryexciting for my birthday and I

(08:38):
just want to reveal this I gotthis message from my bosses I
mentioned.
I work at KFBK in Sacramentoand when the state fair comes up
this year, I got a message onMay 15th, the day before my
birthday, essentially suggestingthat I do my radio show

(09:04):
remotely, my three-hour nightlyradio show.
We do it remotely which theyused to be reluctant when it
came, they'd be very hesitant todo that.
Now they're all about it.
See, it wasn't even my idea, itwas theirs, and I want to tell
you how exciting this is for meand how much this means for me
and how big this is for thispodcast, not just my show, but

(09:26):
this podcast, pat's Peeps.
So my boss says to me hey, whydon't we think about maybe doing
some shows from Cal Expo, thestate fair, right across from my
work, my studio?
The next message is we could doit.
We could call it the Pats Peepsgathering at the California

(09:48):
State Fair.
I looked at that.
I said what Are you serious?
Because what does that mean?
That means that my work isgetting behind what I'm doing
here on the podcast.
These are two different things.
Pats Peeps that's mine, allmine.
My radio show that's mine, allmine, my radio show that's part
of the radio station twoseparate entities.

(10:10):
So when you guys go to Pat'sPeeps, you're helping these
businesses and you're helping me.
Honestly, I never try to saythat, but you are.
I mean, you really are and itkeeps this going.
But the point is, when they saidthat, I said, oh my God,
because they would promote thaton the radio stations.

(10:31):
We have several radio stations, even if they just do it on KMPK
, which I would hope they wouldmaybe do it on KSTE and some of
our other stations.
But whatever, just the ideathat they're presenting that.
Then he follows that up and I'mexcited about that.
Already.
He says you know, perhaps wecould do a series of Pats Peeps

(10:52):
gatherings at the CaliforniaState Fair.
So that would mean that I wouldbe able to meet so many
listeners and be able tointeract with so many of you and
have the opportunity to meetothers who will be joining Pat's

(11:13):
Peeps.
So that's a big thing becauseagain it tells me what used to
be this little dream in my headhow can I help local businesses,
how can I build a business?
And I just uttered those wordsto a friend Pat's Peeps and now
people are saying it you'relistening and God bless, I thank

(11:33):
you for that and my radiopeople are getting behind it and
that's significant.
If you would get behind it,patspeepscom, that's significant
to me.
So, okay, thank you for that.
Also, let's see, going to thestrawberry music festival this
week.
I cannot wait.

(11:54):
My cousin nick is going to behere from spokane and my friend
jeff jeff I call him Jefe for noreason whatsoever other than
he's Jefe.
These are two fine people, I'mtelling you, and I can't wait
for this week.

(12:14):
Excuse me, this is the week ofthe Strawberry Music Festival.
I believe this is my 26th.
It might even be more, but Ithink 26, maybe 27, doesn't
matter, but it's a lot.
And my friend Jefe, whointroduced this to me, his

(12:36):
stepfather Dan Foote, hisstepfather Dan Foote and his
mother introduced me to thisfestival in 1993.
A four-day festival and Iabsolutely fell in love with it.
It became one of the greatestthings in my life.
Some of my best memories, areout there.
I mentioned this before.
The weather is going to beabsolutely perfect.
So next week I'm going to takeThursday and Friday off.

(12:59):
I'll have Monday off work too,but I'll do the Pats Peeps from
the festival.
I'm going to do it with mycousin and I'm going to do it
with Hefe, so we're going to mixit up a little bit.
By the way, we do on here atPats Peeps 264 have a special,
you know, when you're thinkingabout camping, because a lot of

(13:19):
people camp, they'll go outthere, they'll camp, and so we
have a special message for youfrom the National Lampoon Radio
Hour.

Speaker 2 (13:29):
The following is a message from the American Safety
Institute.
Make sure that your childrenbrush their teeth thoroughly
after eating brightly coloredmushrooms, odd-looking berries
and other things they may findin the woods.

Speaker 1 (13:42):
These foods often harbor germs that can cause
tooth decay.
Remember don't be a carelessperson, be a Care-Morphism.
There you go.
So that's a very importantmessage from again from the
National Lampoon Radio Hour.
Hey, thanks for all thewonderful birthday messages.

(14:02):
By the way, I got so many ofthem.
I'm so grateful.
I felt so blessed to have somany people reach out to me for
my birthday.
Thank you for that.
I was sorting through them and Ifound there's just all kinds of
very nice, very interestingthings that people have sent to

(14:23):
me.
One of the things that someonesent to me where did it go?
Here I'm trying to find.
I had it right up here.
That someone sent to me isAllison sent me this.
You know I'm a big fan of thetrailer.
Anyone watch the Trailer ParkBoys it's which was on, I think.
What was it?
It was essentially Canada'sversion of Showtime or whatever.

(14:48):
Anyhow, big fan of the TrailerPark Boys.
You know Ricky's and Bubblesand Julian and Randy and Mr
Leahy, and I love the ladies ofthe Trailer Park Boys.
It is hilarious to me.
Allison I couldn't believe sentthis thing to me from Randy.
Randy is the shirtlesscharacter with the white

(15:10):
trousers that's always eatingthe cheeseburgers.
So I opened up this birthdaymessage from Randy and I was
pretty blown away.
Hold on a second.
Yeah, I said that right, doesanyone?
It's a birthday message fromRandy.
Anyone watch the Trailer ParkBoys.
It's hilarious to see.
You know, I don't know what itis, I've just known people like

(15:34):
that in my life.
So somehow, someway, I've neverlived in a trailer park, but I
can relate.
So here is Randy.

Speaker 2 (15:42):
Thank you to allison all right, this is a little
shout out here.
It's randy.
Randy from sunnyvale trailerpark and a little shout out to
patrick anthony walsh.
You know what?
He's turning 65 years old onthe 16th of may.
He is one sexy Irishman, that'sright.

(16:03):
And you know something?
I'm getting ready to go onstage to do a cheeseburger
picnic.
I'm in Milwaukee, but I had todo a shout-out.
This comes to you from Allisonand, of course, from Randy from
Sunnyvale Trailer Park, besttrailer park in the world.
Like, we're winners of an awardfrom the IATPTPSAATPS, and

(16:27):
that's the InternationalAssociation of Trailer Park
Trailer Park Supervisors andAssistant Trailer Park
Supervisors Me and Mr Leahy.
And you know something.
Back in Sunnyvale we got a lotof good dirty burgers that had
been cooked in Sunnyvale I meanmy good old buddy Phil Collins.
We ran the dirty burger.
That's why I got this belly.
I think it's getting smaller,though, you know, I think it's

(16:50):
getting smaller.
Oh God, that's what it is.
You know I switched to singles.
Okay.
Now, sometimes I do have toprostitute myself for some
burgers.
I put a cowboy hat on andsunglasses and I become smoky
because a man's got to eat right, and that's just the way it is.
Tonight I got my nice whitepants on black shoes, white

(17:10):
pants, beautiful, belly nice.
So I'm not going to have toprostitute for cheeseburgers.
And you know something?
I think you should stop bySunnyvale sometime, you know,
and maybe we could have a littlecheeseburger picnic.
You know, you might even meetRick the Dick.
He ruined a perfectly good pairof my shoes For sakes Peed on
them and I couldn't get thestink out.

(17:30):
For sakes, he says stupid stuff.
Like you can get two birdsstoned at once.
He messes up sayings, you knowit's hard to believe.
And of course, well, twoturnips and heat.
I don't even know what the frigthat means, you know.
But anyways, I hope you have ahappy friggin birthday, happy
65th, and give everyone hugs.
If anyone tells you you can'thave fun on your birthday, you

(17:53):
tell them to frig off.
Randy told you that.
Right.
Here's my belly one more time.
All right, happy frigginbirthday.
No, Randy with Bandy Over andout Freak off.

Speaker 1 (18:01):
Thank you.
Thank you so much, Randy.
Thank you, Allison, for that.
I appreciate it.
That was a very unique birthdaygift.

Speaker 2 (18:18):
Thank you, allison, very much for that.
Hey, asswipe, where'd you getthat Sansuchi amplifier?
I got it at Stereos and stuffjag off and it only cost me
$9.99.
$9.99?
What a deal For the amplifierand the tuner.
Yeah, and that's not allshit-faced.
I also got an anti-staticrecord cloth and two HLH
crowd-plotting.
Two HLH crowd, three thousandspeakers that you're drooling

(18:40):
all over.
Scumbag, Only $9.99?
.
I must be some sort ofNeanderthal for not having gone
down to stereos and stuff andgot one already.
I gotta fire up some money, God.

Speaker 1 (18:49):
I'm ahead of my head sometimes.
If you've got your head up yourass about stereos, come to
Stereos and Such located at theBergen Shopping Mall.
Very good, it's Pat's Peeps 264.
Thank you for putting up withme.
Hey, there is some feedbackcoming in.
It's called smounting againstBrock Purdy's contract detail

(19:12):
After the 49ers confirmed the$265 million extension for who
was once known as and I'm sureyou're sick of hearing it if
you're a fan or if you knowfootball mystery relevant.
But hey, that's pretty awesome, right, you're mystery relevant.
Last guy, take it in the NFLdraft and you get the big
extension.
So he goes from a little undera million per to 53 million per.

(19:38):
Can anyone relate to that kindof money?
By the way, I'm sure some ofyou can.
I cannot.
49ers quarterback Brock Purdy, making the biggest money jump of
any NFL player, arguably.
Anyhow, as San Francisco took achance, showed that they are

(20:01):
very confident in Brock Purdyand they extended his deal.
As the head coach, kyleShanahan, john Lynch, the GM and
the owner, jed York, they cometogether.
They sign a five-year $265million extension, which makes
Purdy the seventh highest-paidquarterback among the current

(20:22):
crop of NFL quarterbacks.
Uh, so yeah, some would sayit's time to stop saying you
know, dropping, drop time todrop Mr Irrelevant from that
title as he's now the main cogthere in the San Francisco
offense.
That's right.
So yeah, this was reported.

(20:44):
Mike Garofalo reported this May18th that the 49ers will also
sign a no trade clause withPurdy, so that leaves him in
control of his future.
He could choose wherever hewants to go if need be.
If you know that time evercomes up.
He's got 181 million in totalguarantees pardon me, that

(21:07):
chokes me up.
165 million just above thatduring the first three years of
that deal.
So pretty significant for him,a lot of guaranteed money.
So, and then there are somerumors out there that maybe you

(21:29):
know, I guess they're going tobe.
Are they going to be on hardknocks?
I haven't watched hard knocksfor a while.
Maybe they are on hard knocks,I don't know.
But they're saying they willdefinitely reveal more details
and that there's this debategoing on in regards to the
quarterbacks.
They kept quiet, but hey, Idon't know.

(21:50):
I think that shows a lot ofconfidence in this quarterback.
So what do the 49er fans thinkof this?
Well, first of all, you can saythis much he is now going to be
, he has high expectations.
There are big-timeresponsibilities and

(22:15):
expectations that are going tobe weighing on this young man
now.
A lot of pressure, it's a lotof money, so will he play up to
that?
49er fans uh, let's see.
What do they think of this?
Let's see if I can findanything.
49ers think this kid is the newjoe montana.

(22:36):
Unreal, it didn't end there.
Pretty, gets financial security.
Let's see's part of thefive-year contract.
49ers think this kid is JoeMontana.
Let's see, this is an absolutejoke of a contract.
Here's another one.

(22:56):
This may be one of the mostoverrated top contracts for a
mid-level player I've ever seen,but that's just a fan.
What do us fans know?
Anyway, right, it's themanagement that have put their
trust in him.
The head coach, the GM, theowner.
By the way, who else are yougoing to get Kirk Cousins?

(23:22):
Who else is going to step in?
Who else is out there?
Honestly, if you're a teamblessed with a good quarterback
right now not to go over the topwith football here, but if you
are, you're in a good position,because they're really.
I don't think there's.
I think there's a shortage ofelite or really super top flight

(23:42):
quarterbacks right now in theNFL.
Another Niner fan writes way,way over pay on all levelsed,
with the no trade clause, on topof the $181 million guaranteed,
says one fan.
So the Niner fan base, according to some people, say

(24:10):
that they cannot believe themassive contract extension.
Apparently there were rumorsthat they might be in the 40s,
but they made him amultimillionaire overnight.
Well, in the 40s as well, right?
Yet another fan blaming thequarterback for fleecing the
team, writing on ex-bros reallyout there scamming some point of

(24:35):
the mistake and agreeing tosuch a deal.
One of them wrote such a dumbfranchise.
This all according to, you know, various sources, essentially
sports and others, amit Kumarand others who have been writing

(24:57):
about this.
But anyhow, that's done Tonighton the Pat Walsh Show.
I might get into this because Idon't want to do it today,
because I don't want to get myblood pressure all up, but I
might get into the craziness ofBruce Springsteen's rant on his
tour, which was ridiculous.
It might have even been theopening night of his tour,

(25:17):
unbelievable.
Let's see.
So, again, thank you for allthe birthday stuff.
Thank you.
I'm looking forward to thegatherings that we're going to
be planning.
Like I said, more details tocome on that as soon as we get
some dates.
They're looking into dates forthat.

(25:40):
On today's Pat's Peeps 264, Iplucked a record from my rare
record collections, my 45collections and this one is on.
Every time I see this one, Iyou know what this one always
reminds me of is trying to thinkum, it always reminds me of the

(26:00):
actual album.
This is a 7 inch 45, but theactual album of.
I think it is.
Oh god, I hope I don't get thiswrong.
I might get this wrong now thatI'm thinking about it, but it
seems like it's Pink Floyd.
Metal might be one of therecords that have that are on
this record label which isHarvest, this green label.

(26:23):
I don't know, maybe I'm wrongon that, but it just seems like
it.
Or maybe Uma Guma.
Maybe it's Uma Guma by PinkFloyd.
Anyhow, that's, this greenlabel Record is in just
beautiful condition.
I'm just amazed.
I always say that, but I amamazed.
I get a little dust on it.

(26:43):
It's been sitting on a shelfsince this one, since 1982.
So 82.
43 years, or whatever.
It's been sitting on a shelfFrom the LP the Golden Age of
Wireless.
As I look at their record at thelabel, even the label is in
mint condition.
I don't even see a sticker, astamp, anything from the radio

(27:07):
station, let's see.
And it does actually have asong on the other side, a B-side
, which I am completely unawareof.
This song, I've never heard ofit.
The other song, the main song,oh my god, I heard it all the
time.
So, uh, let's see anything elsebefore I get to that now, I'll
save that for my show tonight.

(27:28):
Hope you listen to my radioshow.
By the way, yeah, this songright here is.
Uh.
This is an English musician whoreleased this in 1982.
It was a single in the UKOctober of 82, included on the
EP by the same name the titletrack, and then the 1983

(27:52):
re-release of his debut album.
As I mentioned, the Golden Ageof Wireless.
And although this was viewed asa success both in the United
States and in Canada, went tonumber five on the Billboard Hot
100, two weeks at number one inCanada's RPM magazine, this

(28:13):
song barely managed to scoreamong the top 50 in this
artist's native United Kingdom.
It went to number 49 on the UKsingles chart in 1982.
So in America, in Canada, thiswas huge.
At home, eh, whatever.
This artist is often considereda one-hit wonder in the United

(28:35):
States.
This is on the basis of thissong's chart success in the
United States.
In 2002, vh1 named this song asnumber 20 on its list of the 100
greatest one-hit wonders.
That's a good topic, one-hitwonders.

(28:58):
I should jot that down for myshow.
That's pretty good too.
Anyhow, I digress.
Number 20 on the one-hitwonders.
The song is this artist's onlytop 40 single, like I said, of
the Hot 100.
He's had other songs thatscored on the music charts.
06, vh1 placed at number 76 onthe list of greatest songs of

(29:20):
the 80s.
09, it ranked at number 13 onVH1's 100 greatest one-hit
wonders of the 80s list.
