Speaker 1 (00:16):
welcome.
Hey, thank you for listening.
It's the pats peeps podcast.
My goodness, it makes me sohappy when you listen.
It's May 28th.
My God, this month is flying by.
May 28th 2025.
It is a Wednesday.
It's a beautiful day.
(00:37):
As I look out the studio windowsinto the foothills of
California, northern California, that is Absolutely gorgeous day
.
Today we are expecting I don'tknow, temperatures maybe in the
80s or something like that,Maybe upper 70s.
But then here's the thing it'sgoing to change.
(00:58):
This weekend we get the firsttriple digits, first triple
digit temperatures here inSacramento, and I don't want to
hear any complaints this year.
I mean not that anyone is goingto complain to me.
Patrick, listen, I got tocomplain to you about the
weather.
Yeah, people, we complain.
We're so spoiled here.
(01:18):
You know we.
Oh it's.
You know I wish the sun wouldcome out.
I'm tired of the.
You know the winter had it.
I want summer.
Then sun comes out.
Oh, it's so hot.
Everyone's happy when it comesto fall, but I am enjoying the
(01:39):
spring.
By the way, today, with theessence of water, it's an inside
joke.
It's a hint of watermelon.
This water.
I paid extra for this water.
Water infused with variousflavors, of the water infused
with watermelon essence.
(02:00):
I paid extra for it.
There's essence of something inthere.
Honestly, if you blindfolded meand told me you guessed the
essence, it's called hint.
You guessed the essence, youknow.
You get a thousand bucks.
I don't know.
Maybe I would say roses, let metry again.
(02:21):
Petunias I don't know whatthose taste, like watermelon I
mean, maybe blueberries, I don'tknow.
Anyhow, thank you to Eileen forthe birthday cake.
Ladies and gentlemen, just suchnice people.
Thank you, that was very, veryspecial, made my birthday very
(02:47):
nice.
You know my birthday is in thebooks, but it seemed like it
lasted for two weeks.
Hey, I want to also say yeah, eileen.
Thank you very much, gregory.
Thank you, gregory called myshow last night.
By the way, I am the host of thePat Walsh Show.
My radio show is heard on KFBKAM and FM in Sacramento, 93.1 FM
(03:13):
, 1530 AM, and I am the eveninghost, one of the last, if not
the last, local evening talkradio host in the United States
of America, and I'm not evenkidding you on that.
I mean, there are some radioshows that are local.
Most of those are going to beaffiliated with a sports
(03:36):
franchise.
All right, welcome to ClevelandBrowns postgame talk.
We got another two hours totalk about what a brownie suck.
You know that kind of stuff.
But in terms of just like ageneral talk show at night local
, I think we are it, I'm prettysure.
(03:58):
All right, I've been told thatI don't know, I haven't done the
research, but people I respectin the business, people I
respect in the business, peopleI respect in the business and
they told me this.
They said, yeah, you guess howmany local talk shows there are
left in the United States atnight in that time slot that are
not affiliated?
I said, I don't know, 200 Zippo.
(04:20):
And again, I don't know ifthat's true and I'm not bragging
.
It's kind of scary in a way.
I mean, all the other dominoeshave fallen, but here I am
working on 12 years, a dozenyears on my show.
I just cannot believe it, as westarted October 14th 2013.
And here we are coming up.
(04:40):
In a few months It'll be 12years, which, as I understand it
, maybe again I'm wrong, I don'tknow, but in my time of
listening to the great heritagestation of KFBK radio, I've
never heard another show in thattime slot.
And you know, I think we canattribute to a couple of things.
One I don't.
(05:02):
We don't argue, and it argue.
My show isn't about arguing anddividing, none of that.
It's about, you know, treatingpeople with respect.
It's about well, there's acouple of things Supporting the
local businesses.
What can I do?
If you're listening to me, youknow Gregory called my show last
night, you know, and he it wasa great call.
(05:24):
He says, pat, you know, I'mlistening to your podcast and I
love the podcast, and whensomeone says that to me, then
other people will give it anopportunity.
And so Gregory and I'm gettingthese calls every night on my
radio show.
That is great crossover rightthere.
Because, you know, instead ofme trying to encourage you to
(05:45):
listen, people are calling inand say you know what I love
listening to your podcast as I'mdriving down the road.
You know, if any of you I'mtrying to be, look, I never try
to make these a commercial.
I do everything I can not to bedivisive.
I try to do everything I can.
I'll tell you that here onPat's Peeps 270.
(06:07):
And I keep plowing forward dayafter day with this.
I love it.
I love talking and hanging outwith you guys, all I'm.
You know what we'd love to dobesides this, I don't even think
, you know, maybe you do what itwould mean to me personally and
I never ask for anything.
I mean, I'm just grateful youlisten to my podcast, but more
(06:29):
so for you and for thebusinesses.
Seriously, this is awin-win-win.
How do we do that, please?
All I'm asking you to do isjust go to patspeepscom and look
at our businesses.
You know they have really greatdeals and you will get an
exclusive deal just by sayingPat's Peeps, no coupons, none of
that, and I'm not turning thisinto a commercial, it is just,
(06:50):
you know, an essential part ofthis that I would love for you
to do.
And then I'll start gettingcomments from these businesses
going, pat, the people that arelistening to your podcast.
Man, they are outrageous.
I got to tell you, shout out, they're coming in, they're going
.
Yeah, okay, I heard about youon Pat's Beeps.
And then you get the specialdeal.
(07:10):
I want to be.
I want to match you two up, youwho are listening.
If you just go on there and lookat it, that'd be great.
I'm not going to go on and on,right, let's see.
You know, I want to see there.
I just got to cut some randomthings here.
(07:31):
I can't believe it's Pat'speeps 270.
There was a let's see.
Oh, where is this?
Oh boy, where did I put that Ihad something?
What is this?
Oh, this.
I forgot what this was.
Let me open this real quick.
You know I was also mentioningthis is not what I was looking
(07:55):
for.
I need to find that.
But this is labeled TomSullivan.
I'm not exactly sure what thisis labeled Tom Sullivan.
I'm not exactly sure what thisis.
For those of you who don't knowand I did talk about it
yesterday and I talked about iton my show last night that Tom
(08:17):
Sullivan is leaving this week.
This is his last week of hisradio show after four decades,
or whatever it's been for Tom.
He's finally going to say allright, enough's enough.
I understand he's going to bepodcasting.
I mentioned that yesterday, butyou know, it's quite the legacy
when you last that long at asingle radio station and then go
(08:38):
syndicated man, that's reallysaying something.
I cannot remember what this is.
I'll be honest with you.
It's labeled Tom Sullivan andof course, I'm going to be
wishing Tom the very best.
What is this?
A couple of minutes long, Iforgot what it is, but I think
(09:00):
it's me and Tom Sullivan Allright, so let's take a listen
together on Pat's Peeps 270.
Tom.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Sullivan Pat Walsh
here.
Your last show was Friday.
I cannot believe it.
Speaker 1 (09:07):
What a legacy.
That's what this is.
It's not me and Tom.
It's not me and Tom.
All right, this is me doingOkay.
So I wasn't sure.
I just saw that there.
I said what I forgot about this.
This is me doing some liners, radio promos Not promo messages
for Tom Sullivan, because he'sleaving and they're going to be
(09:29):
playing.
Oh.
So, all right, you get a littlepreview.
They might be playing these nowon the air at BK.
So they asked if we could dosome messages for Tom.
And boy, I better preview this.
I don't know what this is inhere.
Well, it's got to be good.
No, I think I'm good.
(09:51):
I have a little taste of myessence of watermelon.
Okay, I'm trying to get thathint of watermelon Anyhow.
So they said can everyone dosome messages, some liners, for
Tom as he's getting ready toretire?
And they asked me to do thatand I just came up with these on
(10:14):
the fly.
I forgot what I said, but we'lllisten.
Tom Sullivan, pat Walsh here, your last show was Friday.
I cannot believe it.
What a legacy.
Four decades of great talkradio, and I thank you for that,
tom.
It's been wonderful workingwith you and getting to know you
over the years now I still wantto say this tom, thank you, you
are the only person who evercreated a bobblehead doll of me
(10:38):
for me, and you told me thatyear.
Pat, you're the only person Igot a present for this Christmas
.
Good luck, tom, and I trulythank you.
True story I remember that day.
True story that bobblehead isstill up there on my desk.
I think I mentioned that on theshow yesterday.
Let's see what the second linerI did message for Tom for his
(11:01):
final show.
Tom Sullivan, pat Walsh hey, your last show's coming up.
I can't believe that.
Good luck with your podcast, good luck in the future.
And you're one of the firstguys that ever did a couple of
liners for my show on the PatWalsh Show.
I'll never forget that.
I always appreciate that.
I wish you nothing but the best, tom, in your future endeavors.
Yeah, he did.
(11:23):
Tom and I had worked togetherfor many years and he, when I
got my show, was so excited hesaid, yeah, let me do a couple
of little liners we call themliners, whatever you want to
call them, little promos, whatever for the show.
And Tom did those and he didmore.
But somebody erased them frommy computer.
I'm upset about that.
I spent so much time lookingfor those last night to play on
(11:46):
my show.
I got these great liners fromTom and someone to the audacity
I'm going to use that word toerase them from my audio files.
Wasn't happy about that.
Tom Sullivan's show was lastFriday.
What, what, tom?
Why are you leaving?
We're going to miss you.
It's Pat Walsh.
(12:07):
You're leaving a great legacybehind.
We're all going to miss youhere at KFPK.
I wish you nothing but the bestafter four decades of great
radio.
Nothing but the best for you inyour future.
It's not easy either.
Doing a decade, beingsuccessful enough to do a decade
.
It's tough.
You just walk in there and juststart.
(12:29):
That came up on my show lastnight.
Someone asked me about that.
How difficult is it?
He was talking in referencewith Tom leaving.
I think some people get theimpression you can just walk on
in there and be a talk show hostbecause anyone can talk.
Well, as Scott Robinson pointedout last night, it's not that
(12:51):
easy.
Scott Robinson, I've beentraining now going on two years
to be a talk show host so thathe can guest host for me when I
need some time off.
You have to have a bullpen andthere are people who work for a
living.
You know they work full timeoff.
You have to have a bullpen.
And there are people who workfor a living.
You know they work full time, but they want to dabble in radio
.
It's a dream and it is notsomething that happens, that you
(13:14):
just get to.
Oh, I have a friend in talkradio and now I'm going to be in
talk radio.
No, no, no, no.
It's a lot of training, it's alot of.
It's just a lot.
And to do it every day, as Tomhas done for over four decades,
it's really saying something.
And again, no matter what, whatbusiness or trade you are in,
(13:35):
what job you are in, you do thatfor 40 years, and particularly
when you are basically at thesame station.
And then you have the longevity.
And then, on top of thatlongevity, you expand by going
syndicated, and I congratulateTom for doing that in the last
(13:56):
several years of his career.
Syndication, by the way, in caseyou're wondering, that does not
necessarily signify theultimate success, but it's nice.
You know, in 2000, I've neverreally told anyone this.
(14:16):
My dream and it was and stillis, to become syndicated.
Now, if you're thinking well, you just said that maybe that's
not the pinnacle of success.
Why would you want to besyndicated?
Well, it can be, but it is notnecessarily the pinnacle of
success.
So I'll just share this withyou as I play another Tom
(14:39):
Sullivan liner who is syndicated.
Tom Sullivan, pat Walsh, wishingyou the best in semi-retirement
.
It is semi-retirement, right, you're going to do a podcast.
Thank you, tom, for being aninspiration for me and my radio
show over the years.
Thanks for being a great friendand a great colleague, and I
wish you nothing but the best inyour future.
I wonder how often he's goingto do that podcast.
(15:00):
How consistent.
That's tough even to do that.
And then, on top of it, I'mdoing a radio show.
Listen, I'm not whining aboutit, uh, no, um, you know, this
is what happens when I divert.
I was gonna make a point, I wasgonna make a point.
Then I played another.
Well, I was gonna.
Okay, I was gonna.
(15:21):
Okay.
I'll tell you.
Here's the point 2020, I wasgoing to become syndicated.
You know, kfpk is a legacy ofsyndicated hosts Rush Limbaugh,
tom Sullivan, morton, downey, jr, morton and Rush rest in peace.
Who's next on the list?
(15:44):
Well, it was going to be meTalking about a case of
unfortunate timing.
This is 2020.
Without getting into all of it,I was asked because I had
lobbied for this.
I'm like, hey, you know I couldget into all these reasons.
Look, if this company and I'mtalking about iHeart, which
(16:06):
again is a very different thingthan KFPK iHeart if iHeart is,
if they're looking for revenue, they're looking for revenue and
again, this is my opinion.
There are people who apparentlyknow better than I do.
But if you're looking to addrevenue to the iHeart system,
(16:28):
you know, if you're looking tomake revenue, don't you want
advertising?
Right?
That's what creates the revenue.
What gets the advertising is asuccessful show that has a long
track record, you know, that hasa strong following.
So I would lobby for this andsay, look, why don't you use,
(16:50):
instead of playing reruns atnight, which are just cheap and
easy but you're not selling anyads, why not run my show, which
is live?
You know, if I'm successful inSacramento, which apparently I
have been in this region, andplus, I get calls from a lot of
people in different parts of thecountry, people in Canada,
(17:11):
people who've moved away fromCalifornia and you still listen.
So there's a formula.
The formula is just being niceto people and being respectful
and letting people you know, give their opinions and trying
to be funny and trying to beentertaining, whatever you want
to call it, but it's just beingyourself.
Is that essentially the formulaand doing things that it seems
like people might want to hearon the radio?
(17:32):
Why not do that?
You guys have the ability, asiheart, to get big guests if I
want them, no matter what thestory is, no matter if it's
music I talk a lot about musicyou can line those guests up for
me and we can make it like theTonight Show of radio, which no
one has ever done, that you havepeople like George Norrie, who
(17:52):
comes on after me, art Bell, whopreceded him.
They talk about flying saucersand Bigfoot and ghosts and all
of these things and more, by theway, and they're successful,
but it's syndicated.
Why not put before that, inthat time slot, someone who has
a show that is less divisive, that is more relatable to people
(18:17):
, things that people relate to,throw music in the mix.
Have a little fun with it.
Anyhow, eventually they thoughtyou know, that's a really good
idea.
We had meetings.
We had actually Kitty O'Neill, who I work with.
For those of you who don't know, I'm sure many of you do.
She has the show that precedesmine on kfbk, the afternoon news
(18:40):
, with kitty o'neill, and herand I do the handoff and we have
a lot of people enjoy that.
We both enjoy that, andsometimes that can go on, for
before I even get into my show,we get.
That thing can go on for six, seven minutes because we get
into these conversations.
Well, during 2020, during thisparticular time, it might've
(19:03):
been 2021, actually I can'texactly remember.
It's right in that time, rightin there somewhere, and you know
obviously there's a lot goingon then.
But they said you know, we needto get you out at 2.50.
So 2.50 after the top of thehour.
Get you out at 2.50.
So 2.50 after the top of thehour.
(19:23):
Why?
Which would then, of course, cut back Kitty and myself and
our conversation to two minutesand 50 seconds, versus any time
we really want, as long as wewant.
Well, why is that?
Well, because the stations needthe exact, precise time for all
of the radio stations to startthe show.
At the same time.
We were going to be in San Diegoand Portland.
(19:44):
These are the places I remembersomeone telling me I don't want
to say what it was San Diegoand Portland and Sacramento and
I think maybe in Seattle therewas all the West Coast and we
were going to take that.
We were going to try that, seehow successful we could be, and
then from there move on.
Unfortunately, again, a lotgoing on during that time, which
(20:09):
included pandemic and whichincluded company layoffs and the
people who were at that pointwanting to make that happen, the
syndication, they were part ofthat big layoff and that just it
just happens.
Not here to slam my heart.
I'm grateful again for the job.
(20:30):
So yeah, that's the truth, that's the story.
And again, I sure do wish TomSullivan, but let me finish a
little bit on that.
So when I say, let me finish acouple of thoughts on that, why
(20:52):
is the syndication then not thebiggest thing?
Why is it not the peak ofsuccess, or the yard marker for
success, if you will?
Because I'm very successful inSacramento and on my podcast and
because of you guys.
And when I say I'm successful,I'm not saying you're going gee,
(21:13):
look at me, I'm so successful.
I'm not trying to say it likethat.
I'm extremely humble at thesame time.
But I'm being honest with you.
You're not going to be on theradio doing a show for 12 years
and, god you know, over 20before.
That is the sports guy.
If you're not successful, youknow, and and that's a matter of
(21:34):
fact, but you know, if you're,so I I measure that as success,
the fact that I have such aloyal audience, both on radio
and my ever-growing podcast.
You, whoever you are, whereveryou're listening, you know I'm
(21:57):
so grateful.
I tell you that all time.
I mean that from the bottom ofmy little heart here.
Same thing with my radio show.
I can be a goofball man.
You know, I'm a kid at heart.
I don't want to sit here everyday and talk about the Mueller
report, you know, andimpeachment and this trash that
we all have to talk about allthe time.
(22:18):
No, no, syndication.
I'm not going to name any names, but I have friends who are
syndicated Not Tom Sullivan, I'mnot talking about Tom, not Tom
(22:42):
Sullivan, I'm not talking aboutTom.
But once you start to syndicate, then you have other people in
the mix.
You know what I mean.
There are other people who arenow going to have a say in,
perhaps, what you are talkingabout or going to be talking
(23:04):
about.
I don't want that.
Kfbk and iHeart.
Let me talk about whatever Iwant to talk about.
They let me do whatever I wantto do.
No restrictions other than notbeing vile.
Of course I'm talking.
(23:24):
I'm talking about topics.
They just it's a sort of apersonality driven show.
They send me topics if I wantthem.
I, but I but they're just likehey, man, this is just.
I'm throwing this out therebecause, you know, just because
we, we love your show and we'rejust trying to feed that machine
(23:44):
, which that machine.
You know I got to find a lot ofstories that are not divisive
stories every single day, butthey never talk.
They never tell me what to talkabout.
You know what a blessing thatis.
There is no, there are no radiostations commercial that I am
aware of where, if you're inmusic, let's say, you have a
(24:06):
free flow format Try saying thatthree times fast when you can
just get on there, play whateveryou want.
I'm going to play Sales ofSharon Scorps.
Boom, I'm going to move thatinto.
You know, I'm going gonna getall creative musically.
Shine on you, crazy diamondfloyd, do the segway, where you
know exactly what to say.
That's, that was my dream.
(24:27):
You're not gonna find that.
Maybe a community radio station, perhaps you're not gonna find
a radio show where, for the mostpart anyhow, I can't speak on
everyone's behalf.
We're just going to let youtalk about whatever you want.
They do on my show, to theircredit, I have to say, like this
(24:48):
story here.
This is amazing to me.
Now.
They would never tell me totalk about that.
You know, I don't really getinto the political stuff that
much, into that fray, you know.
But here's this whole story outthere.
I kind of I was going to talkabout it last night where
(25:09):
there's this whole thing inCalifornia, where now California
is tweaking this trans athleterules.
But this is something thateveryone would talk about.
If you're a talk show host host, you'd pick that one up.
Bam, I'm talking about that.
I have things to say about that.
I do, but sometimes I feel likeeveryone's talking about it.
(25:33):
So, but this is, I do havesomething to say about that.
We're never going to.
All of us are never going toagree or disagree, but so, but
this is, I do have something tosay about that.
We're never going to.
All of us are never going toagree or disagree, but we have
opinions.
So I'm going to give my twocents on this.
Move to something else.
This California story today, tweaking trans athlete rules
(25:54):
after the president threatens tohalt the federal funding.
Now this is very, veryconfusing.
Is anyone else confused by this?
God, I'm trying to think ofthis.
Remember, wasn't it theDemocratic, was it the
(26:16):
Democratic Convention, where theguy who was it that was coming
out with those confusing rules?
This is very confusing to me.
Like I can't remember what itwas Like the DNC rules meeting
or whatever.
Whatever that was when theywere trying to explain the
(26:40):
transgender and you got to bethis and you got to do that.
It was funny, it wasinteresting to listen to because
I remember even the guy doingit could not figure out what he
was saying.
It was the DNC rules.
I need to find that.
(27:03):
Let me see if I can find that.
The point I'm bringing this upis because of this California
thing.
You have these social mediathreats from President Trump,
california's high school sportsgoverning body saying it will
allow cisgender female trackathletes who lost their
qualifying positions totransgender competitors I'm
(27:27):
using these terms that they arewriting to still be able to
compete in an upcoming statechampionship, the California
Interscholastic Federationannouncing the change yesterday.
This is just hours after Trumpposted on social media that he
would withhold billions ofdollars in federal education
funds from the state ifofficials did not block a
transgender female athlete fromcompeting at the state track and
(27:49):
field championships in Clovisnext weekend.
Hello Clovis, my sister livesin beautiful Clovis.
The CIF, they say, believesthis pilot entry process
achieves the participationopportunities that we seek to
afford our student-athletes.
This is what the group said ina statement.
Cif adopting its new policybefore the president issued this
(28:13):
threat according to Izzy Garden, a spokesperson for the
governor's office.
Threat according to Izzy Garden, a spokesperson for the
governor's office.
Right, sure, it's unclear.
They say how many athletes aregoing to be affected by the rule
change Trump was discussing.
I love when they use targeting.
Okay, you want to use targeting, that's fair, whatever.
(28:39):
A transgender high schoolathlete from Riverside County
who recently won regionalcompetitions in the long jump
and the triple jump.
The president accusing theathlete of being a quote less
than average competition orcompetitor.
Excuse me, as a male, but quotepractically unbeatable as a
female.
And is it that the case?
Ask yourself this When's thelast time you saw a female who
feels more like a male enteringmale competitions and dominating
(29:01):
Doesn't happen that I canrecall.
This is not fair this is aquote and totally demeaning to
women and girls.
Please be hereby advised that alarge-scale federal funding
will be held back, maybepermanently, if the executive
order on this subject matter isnot allowed or not adhered to.
(29:23):
Excuse me, said the president,as he continued referring to the
order back in February whichrescinds all funds from
educational programs thatdeprive women and girls of fair
athletic opportunities.
Women and girls of fairathletic opportunities.
Then, as Gregory said on my showlast night, pat talks and says
(29:44):
and does things that he doesn'tusually do on his radio show.
Maybe that's the case.
Maybe sometimes it's going tobe the case right here, when I
tell you and I'm sorry for mylanguage, but I just have to say
it on my podcast DemocraticState Senator Scott Weiner, who
is a dick.
How is this guy still doingthis of San Francisco lambasting
(30:10):
the president's statement, calling the threat illegal and
urging California to challengeit in court, if necessarily.
Unfortunately, says Dick, thisis just another chapter in
Donald Trump's war ontransgender people.
Shut up Warring out ontransgender people.
You know what this guy's?
Just to see this.
Why don't do this?
I get all angry and bitter.
(30:31):
Just shut.
You know, listen, man, whatit's unfair to is women, he said
.
Oh, it's outrageous.
He needs to let Californiamanage their own sports programs
and stop it with these attacks.
Attacks what do you call it?
When a male boxer bashes awoman's face in in a boxing ring
(30:53):
?
Oh, I'm sorry.
A transgender beats a woman inthe boxing ring.
I want to be politicallycorrect here.
I mean, give me a break and see, my blood pressure goes up when
I start talking about thisstuff.
(31:13):
Man, this guy is really ajackass.
I'm so sick and tired of this.
Scott Wiener and the trend isgoing against you, scotty boy
Wiener says the president couldcare less about girls and
women's sports.
Really, god?
There's other words I want touse right now, but I'm not going
(31:36):
to do it.
I'm going to refrain.
I want to use right now, butI'm not going to do it.
I'm going to refrain.
But old Dickie boy here, areyou kidding me?
You truly?
Oh my God.
What he does care about isattacking trans people and
dehumanizing them.
No, what he cares about, dick,is the fact that women want to
compete, and compete amongstother women.
(32:00):
So I'm not going to get intothis.
You know the story just the wayit is Dehumanizing, attacking
trans people.
And then you have Gavin Newsom, back in March remember that for
saying he says he thinks it'sdeeply unfair for transgender
athletes to compete in girls'sports events.
It appeared to support theFederation's rule.
(32:23):
So this should be this rulechange.
This should be interesting, huh, hmm.
So now, what is Gavin going todo?
Is he going to be a staunchopponent of transgender athletes
competing against women?
Is that what he's going to do?
After he stoked the controversy, he's got to do something.
(32:43):
It's interesting.
We haven't heard from him yet.
Maybe we've heard from him thismorning.
I haven't.
I don't think anyone has.
I haven't heard anything aboutit.
I should say Not that he'scalling me.
That's not what I mean.
Anyhow, we'll see what he says, but here's the bottom line for
(33:07):
me.
Uh, first of all, why are wewasting time with this stuff?
Why tell me why we're wastingtime with this?
To me, there is one easy remedy, and I just don't understand
why we're not looking at it.
You know why?
Because we want to argue.
I think not all of you.
I'm not talking about you.
I'm talking about these people, you know, and I think I'm sorry
.
I'm not sorry.
Trump is right here.
(33:27):
I'm not a staunch Trump guyzealot.
He's right and this is going tocome to an end and a lot of
people think that that is a goodthing.
The answer, my friend, isblowing in the wind.
(33:49):
It's have your own transgenderchampionships.
Just do that.
If you're transgender, like inthis case, the.
The weird thing is, it's hardto understand.
So somehow they're going togive three winners like what
three winners like?
(34:09):
You'll get the.
The winner, the transgenderperson can win um and then, but
the woman in the competition, the women who did not win, they
can.
They'll be able to move on inthe championship round.
I'm not understanding all ofthis.
And then the transgender willbe able to move on in the
(34:34):
championship round, but who's atransgender going to be
competing against?
Like, if there's only onetransgender in the competition,
who's the transgender competingwith?
So if you're going to do this, why not?
I don't know, have atransgender competition,
(34:54):
transgender games.
I'm sure that there arebusinesses who would support
that.
You know what I mean.
There would be sponsors forthat.
I don't know who they are, butthere would be sponsors.
You got to leave them out ofthe women's competition.
(35:17):
See, this is why I don't getinto this stuff.
It just drives me insane.
Drives me insane.
I'm going to get away from that.
I almost didn't bring that up.
Let's go to some music.
I plucked this from my RareRecord 45 collection.
(35:39):
Today, 7-inch records I'malways I love to talk about the
song.
Be honest about the song.
I'm going to look at this label.
By the way, I've already lookedat this record.
It is absolutely in mintcondition.
It's the promo demonstration, not promotion Demonstration, not
(36:02):
for sale.
No stickers on it, no stamps ofany kind on it, no radio
station markings white.
It's on virgin records.
Both sides are stereo, bothsides of the same song three,
four, dash, oh four, two, two,one of the same song
3-4-0-4-2-2-1.
(36:22):
Now, before I play this, I waslike when I pulled it out I went
, oh no, so I am not a fan ofthis song.
Sorry, I'm just letting youknow, just not a fan.
But I'm going to play it herebecause I pulled it from my
(36:45):
record collection.
I so badly wanted to play theguy trying to explain the rules
there at the DNC, the rulescommittee or whatever I should
have.
I didn't even.
Sometimes you don't even thinkof these things until you're
doing the show, otherwise Iwould have had that ready to go.
Doggone it.
(37:08):
That's a good thing, that wasso funny.
Oh, I wish I could find thatfor you right now, anyhow.
So I don't really care for thissong, I'm just being completely
honest about it.
Many people love this song, which is by an English band,
1983, released in the UnitedKingdom.
(37:30):
September of 83 became thesecond of this band in terms of
a single to reach the top UKsingles chart, after another
song that I did not like at all, either one.
Sorry, when I play it you'regoing to go.
Oh, I love this song and someothers are going to go.
Yeah, I'm with you, pat, butit's not the case in every
(37:51):
record, but anyhow, this onemight be a little more
controversial.
The record stayed at number onefor six weeks, so it was
well-liked.
Became the UK's biggest sellingsingle of the year 1983, sold
955,000 copies in 1983,certified platinum.
To date it is the 38th biggestselling single of all time in
(38:12):
the UK.
This single that I'm holding inmy hand, the demonstration of it
sold 1.52 million copiesprobably even more than that by
now.
Worldwide success went numberone in 20 countries, so
obviously I'm in the minority onthis, that's okay.
Spent three weeks at number onein the United States on the
(38:35):
Billboard Hot 100.
In early 1984, became thisgroup's biggest hit the only US
number one single among theirmany top 10 hits.
Matter of fact, this one soldover 5 million copies globally
In 2015,.
(38:55):
This song I'm holding in myhand was voted by the British
public as the nation's ninthfavorite 1980s number one song
in a poll.
The song about and this isaccording to the front man is
about the terrible fear ofalienation that people have, the
(39:17):
fear of standing up for onething.
It's about trying to suck up toeverybody.
Basically, if you aren't true,if you don't act like you feel,
if you don't act like you feel, then you get karma justice,
nature's way of paying you back.
I think you know what I'mtalking about now.
1983, the Culture Club Karma.
Speaker 2 (40:02):

Single at the 84 Brit Awards.
Not a big fan, but you knowwhat?
