Speaker 1 (00:18):
Welcome to the Pats
Peeps podcast.
This week it is the Back DeckBroadcast here on Pat's Peeps.
It's the Back Deck Broadcastbrought to you by patspeepscom
and all the businessesaffiliated with patspeepscom.
(00:39):
There you go, thank you.
Well, that ended abruptly.
Happy Monday.
It is the Pats Peeps podcast273.
It is the back deck broadcast.
Like I said there, for the weekI'm going to do the podcast on
the back deck.
Unless something changes, thenI won't.
(01:02):
But I just, you know.
Yeah, you know things are.
If something happens, godforbid, then maybe I change it
back to the indoors.
But I'm sitting out there onthis beautiful day, so there's
no need to even look out thestudio windows.
It's, I'm just looking aroundme.
It's gorgeous.
(01:23):
Hope you can hear.
I don't know if you can hearthe birds in the background or
not, but I'm sitting in theshade early in the day.
It is not, I don't, you know.
I haven't really looked at theweather.
I don't know if it's going tobe as hot as it was last couple
of days.
It did not bother me one bit,not even going to complain about
(01:44):
that kind of stuff.
I keep saying how great thespring was.
I'm not going to complain onceit.
You know, heck, we're in Junenow.
By the way, happy June.
Today is June 2nd, 2025, andit's sunny, I don't know, maybe
it's, I don't even know.
It's nice out, maybe it's inthe 80s, but on June the 2nd
(02:06):
there's a little car going by.
I'm on a deck, on my back deck,so I'm overlooking the road
that I live off of, and it'sjust, it's so peaceful here you
don't really hear the cars goingby all that much, unless you're
out on the back deck.
You might hear them.
On June 2nd it's my brotherJim's birthday, my brother Jim.
(02:27):
Happy birthday to my brotherJim.
Jim is the second in the orderof age in the family.
I am the oldest, jim is thesecond, there's six of us, there
were seven, and when youinclude Ray the stepbrother is
no longer with us Steve is next, then Tim and then my sister
(02:47):
Michelle, and my sisterStephanie is the baby of the
family.
So, jim, happy birthday.
Just a little bit on my brotherJim.
What can I tell you about Jim?
He's an ornery son of a gun.
I'll tell you that.
But then again, I'm sure all ofus are in my family.
I don't know, I'm not speakingof yours, but uh, but he's a.
(03:09):
He's a lifelong Vikings fan.
He's a lifelong Red Sox fan andboy for a long time with the
Red Sox.
It's not the same now becausethey've won a couple of World
Series, uh, in recent historyhere, but you know, for a while
there's a Red Sox.
It's not the same now becausethey've won a couple of World
Series, uh, in recent historyhere, but you know, for a while
there's a Red Sox who felt thatthey were had the curse.
(03:31):
And then you had the, theVikings, which indeed may be
cursed.
Um, jim has been a die-hard fan, and so I'm glad that he got to
see his team win the WorldSeries a couple of times, even
if it did come at the expense ofmy team in 2018.
Was it 2018, right, red Soxbeat the Dodgers, who have since
(03:55):
won a couple of World Series.
But it's not about that.
It's about my brother Jim.
He and I argue about thedumbest things.
When I say argue, I take thatback.
Okay, we don't argue, because Idon't.
I'm not going to argue aboutsuch things, but let's just say
(04:17):
we have debated our entire lives.
There goes a car.
Can you hear that?
Hi, that's beautiful out here.
've debated our and when itcomes to sports and you know
we've debated our entire liveswith our teams and some of the
debates are he likes theamerican league, I like the
(04:40):
national league, and so wealways have to poke and prod at
one another, particularly inpoking at me, to try to get a
reaction out of me.
I try to refrain, I try not toplay along, but I can't help it
at times.
I'll give you an example thislast year, same Darnold with the
Vikings.
You know, when we were kids andmy favorite quarterback, roman
(05:03):
Gabriel and the Rams, they wouldalways be in the playoffs.
It always be like the Rams inthe in the National Football
League, the NFL.
They had the NFL and the AFLright used to be the Boston
Patriots over in the AFL anyhow.
Then it became the AFC, nfc andum in the playoffs, roman
Gabriel being my favoritequarterback growing up In the
(05:25):
playoffs, roman Gabriel being myfavorite quarterback growing up
.
I'll tell you how old I am I'mpretty young, see.
And they'd play the Vikingswhether it's Fran Tarkenton or
Joe Capp and the Rams during aregular season usually when they
would play the Vikings wouldbeat the Vikings pretty handily
if they were in LA, let's say,but as soon as they'd go to the
(05:49):
playoffs and in the playoffs, you know, bud Grant was their
coach.
So my brother Jim's been aVikings fan for a long time and
myself a Rams fan, and in theplayoffs the Rams would go play
the Vikings in that snow againstBud Grant.
You know the purple peopleeaters.
(06:09):
The Rams had the fearsomefoursome.
What a rivalry.
It was a great rivalry then andinevitably in the playoffs the
Vikings would get the best of myRams, only then to go to the
Super Bowl, much like theBuffalo Bills, and get whacked.
So the Vikings have never wonthe Super Bowl.
(06:32):
I hope for my brother, jim, Ihope for your sake, not in a
year when the Rams are really, really good.
But you know, if the Rams areout of it I'm pulling for your
team because at some point Iwant your team to win the Super
Bowl.
You've seen your baseball teamwin anyhow.
So last year he's just talkingsmack.
(06:54):
He starts his little thing onour group message and our little
family group message and Jimcannot help himself.
If you're an NFL fan, you knowSam Darnold led the Vikings to
what 14 wins last year.
The Rams really great down thestretch, like they have been the
last couple of years and sothey end up playing the Vikings
(07:16):
in the playoffs.
And Jim, he's gonna starttalking before the game.
I don't do that, I don't talkbefore the game like that.
When I say talk, I mean I'm notgoing to give your team a bad
time.
It's like whatever, good luck.
But Jim can't help himself.
He'll do a little poking andprodding.
Well, after the Rams sacked theVikings a record nine times, I
(07:40):
think.
That tied, I think it broke anall-time record for yardage lost
in yardage for sacks in a game.
Oh God, I loved it.
But the Rams handily beat theVikings.
All right.
So you know I love you, jim.
(08:04):
You know I love you, jim.
You know I remember all yearthe old Vikings because of our
rivalry.
I sent him a picture, afootball card, of Mick
Tinglehoff.
Anyone remember Mick Tinglehoff?
He was the center for theMinnesota Vikings back in those
days when Tarkington and Cap wasplaying, and Mick Tinglehoff is
(08:27):
in the Hall of Fame and I'llnever forget the name.
I mean, what a name MickTinglehoff.
So, jim, oh, we used to argueabout the.
Again, not argue, but debate.
I keep saying that Debate aboutthe Major League Baseball
All-Star game Because I don'tlike I don't.
(08:50):
I'm a National League guy.
It's not so much that I justdon't like the American League,
I'm just a National League fan.
Okay, I don't like the AmericanLeague.
All right, I don't.
There's certain teams that Iadmire and that I like.
Okay, I'll be honest with you.
The A's are in Sacramento, theA's are American League.
(09:10):
I don't really care what anyonethinks about it, but I'm
calling them the Sacramento A'sbecause they're in Sacramento
and they're playing baseball.
So if someone doesn't like that, oh well.
But yeah, I'm going to root forthe A's while they're here.
Yes, I'm gonna continue to rootfor my Dodgers.
(09:31):
Hey, hey, yankee fan, how aboutthat series this weekend?
Huh, yeah, the Yankees tookyesterday's game.
Good way to go.
But I know who took the series, just like who took the world
series.
So nice job, dodgers.
But I've always been a NationalLeague fan.
(09:53):
Jim's always been an AmericanLeague fans.
We have this rivalry when itcomes to the all-star game,
which has essentially been kindof ruined the way they do it now
used to be.
It meant something in baseball.
To me, it was the only all-stargame that actually meant
something in baseball.
I mean in sports.
It was the baseball all-stargame.
(10:13):
I mean, look at Pete Rose andRay Fossey.
He mowed down Ray Fosseybecause it meant something, not
because he wanted to hurt RayFossey.
There was pride involved.
Now everybody's got to play.
There's all these rules.
I won't belabor the point, but,jim, I love you.
Happy birthday here on the backdeck.
(10:34):
Broadcast here at Pat's Peeps.
I had a great time over theweekend Thanks to the fellas
over in our little band we got.
You know, this is a band I usedto be a part of.
Now we have a couple of newmembers.
We hadn't seen each other for adozen years maybe.
And they called me one day.
(10:55):
Hey, pat Scott called me oneday.
He saysott called me one day.
He says he's one of our, he'sone of our guitar players said
hey, you know, we're gonna go beplaying over at steve's house.
Steve is a another guitarplayer in this group and they
essentially to be honest, theyessentially just jam.
They call it the harmony hutand they just jam it.
(11:16):
They call it the Harmony Hutand they just jam.
It's a great music room andthey've got everything the amps,
the mics, the keyboards, drums, guitar all of this is set up in
the hut.
And so they said hey, would youlike to come down and we'd love
to see you and say hi to you.
This is a few months ago.
(11:38):
So I went down.
Oh no, it's actually.
You know what it was?
Um, it was the night before myson died, and so it's been about
two months.
We've only got together a fewtimes since then, maybe three
times.
But I just want to say what ablast I have I had.
(11:59):
We did UFO, we rock, we did UFO, shoot, shoot.
They go.
Hey, let's do a couple of songsPat wants to do.
He's the singer and I'm like, yeah, you guys, you know, I mean
I'm not trying to be the primadonna, we're not, we're not even
a band going, we just jamtogether.
Who knows, we might play atsome point, but it's like the
singer's got to be able to singthe songs, but they were, they
(12:22):
were playing all these songsthat I had not rehearsed, songs
I've heard a million times butI've never sung.
Uh, for instance, um, oh god, from aerosmith.
I knew, knew, I was going to dothat, oh God, anyhow, songs
that I hadn't done in a band.
(12:43):
We did come on Last Child, itwas the last child Anyhow, which
is not an easy song to sing.
I mean, steven Tyler belts itout on that Screaming.
Essentially we did that, we diddo-do-do heartbreaker stones
and these were just kind of offthe cuff that they had brought
to the table.
(13:03):
You know, I wanted to do UFO,shoot, shoot.
We did rock bottom UFO Anyhow.
So great time doing that and, dare I say, say we sounded good.
I have to say it was a blast.
(13:25):
So I look forward to, you know, perhaps there'll be some
recordings or something in thefuture once we get a couple of
songs down.
I mean, I don't know wherewe're going with that.
Speaking of music, I'm sittinghere, I was going to play
something and and then thispopped up and I thought, you
know, I like this band.
I don't know everything aboutthis band here, but anytime,
(13:46):
anytime it comes to music.
Again, going back to ourpodcast, where they claim that
you don't discover new musicafter the age of 30, which I
think is, of course, horsemanure, quite frankly.
I mean, royal Blood is a bandthat I've discovered in the last
few years Drive-By Truckers,like I mentioned.
Spoon, is one of those bands.
(14:08):
I've never listened to this.
I don't own it.
Hey, I'm promoting this Spoon.
Rhythm and Soul is the name ofthe song.
Let's see if I like this one asmuch as I like your other stuff
.
Pat's Peeps 273, happy Monday.
Speaker 5 (14:22):
Come loosen up.
It's all hung up.
Come count them.
Waste it forever.
Remember, the winter getscolder Ways.
You always forget it's cold.
Here comes the man.
(14:46):
You saw him cause I.
He just makes it cold.
I know Rhythm and soul.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Yeah, I like the
sound Boom, rhythm and soul.
Yeah, I like that.
I'd started hearing some of themusic and I'd go out and I
would check who is this playingthis song?
I didn't know the song, itwould be Spoon.
(15:27):
Then I'd hear another song andgo well, who's playing this one?
Go check it out.
It'd be Spoon.
Wow, okay, very nice.
So a little mention of thatright there.
I'm glad I checked that out.
One of the things I did onFriday of last week.
I just want to mention thisbecause this is Pat's Peeps.
You know how we are.
(15:47):
I'm always talking about yeah, yeah, I know, pat small business
, check out please.
But you know what?
Honestly, it's really of highimportance.
And so last Friday, speaking ofPat's Peeps, which is not just
a podcast, which is ourcommunity of people and our
businesses, I went to shoot somevideos for a Pat's Peeps
(16:10):
business, but it's also anendorsement of my radio show.
By the way I failed to mentionMaybe you know this, maybe you
don't my name is Pat Walsh.
I'm the host of the Pat WalshShow on KFPK Radio in Sacramento
, 93.1 FM, 1530 AM.
So many of you call my show andare telling me now that you're
listening to the Pats Peeps, forwhich I am so very grateful.
(16:33):
On my show I have severalendorsements for local
businesses.
Uh, which listen?
I would love to translate thisto patspeepscom, where I have my
other businesses and I'm reallycounting on some of you to
please check them out.
Um, again, it's free, but I Iwent to do I shot six videos for
(16:54):
one of my endorsements, one ofthe companies that I represent
on radio American River Flooringand so we decided they decided,
we decided collectively that Iwould go to one of their
clients' homes in which they haddone a bunch of this work, some
of the work similar to my houseInside, you know, interior
painting, new flooring, newpainted cabinets in the kitchen,
(17:16):
things like this right?
So I get over there and when Igo up to the person's door, it's
this gentleman shakes my handand I look at him and I'm
thinking you know, you get thatfeeling, god, I know this person
.
And as I'm thinking, god, Iknow this guy.
And now we have Martin, whoworks with American River
(17:38):
Flooring he's there, and Lori isthere, who is the sales rep for
the account rep for thisbusiness, for my show.
And this gentleman looks at meand he shakes my hand.
He goes, you know me, and I go.
God, I was just thinking that.
But I didn't have to reveal, saythis was beautiful.
I didn't have to reveal that Iwasn't sure who it was because
(18:01):
before I could even go, god youknow, I knew you looked familiar
.
I'm trying to figure out.
Where do I know this?
I didn't have to say that.
He said his name, bill, and hegoes.
Yeah, I've been with Pat on, Ithink, two, at least two or
three, I think, maybe three ofthe Pat's Peeps group trips that
we go with conservative tours.
He's been to Italy twice, Ibelieve in Ireland.
(18:23):
I may get that wrong, bill, ifyou're listening, I apologize,
but anyway he's been on thesetrips as the part of the Pats
Peeps group.
And I'm like, wait a minute,really, yeah.
And I said you know what?
Of course I know who you are, bill.
I said I remember in NorthernItaly the first time we were
there, northern Italy, which is,I mean, the first time I was in
(18:47):
Italy, I should say, which Ican't believe I'm saying the
first time, like there's anothertime, but anyhow.
But the point is I remember theconversation we had on the bus.
On, I remember the conversationwe had on the bus, on the coach
, I should say I told him aboutthis conversation.
He goes yeah, that's right, Iremembered.
Oh my gosh.
So, bill, if you're listening, there was just that split-second
(19:08):
thing where I was like I wasn'tsure I knew that I knew you.
But as soon as you said Bill,I'm like, yeah, man, right on,
and Bill says to the camera andI appreciate it Bill's a one
take wonder on these littlevideo endorsements we were doing
.
He's like, yeah, it's allbecause of Pat.
He's I said when I went.
So I went over there, I gavethis American river flooring a
chance because I trusted Pat andthey gave me the best deal.
(19:30):
So awesome, thank you, thankyou, thank you to Bill, thanks
to American River Flooring, thanks to those of you who will
really actually check outmypatspeepscom and look at our
businesses.
It'll make me and this businesslook good and it'll allow you
to save money and the businesseswill like it.
(19:52):
Anyhow, all righty, All righty.
What else?
Oh, here's just for a fun break.
Here's some.
This is one of my bit.
Oh, this is, I don't know.
I'm always telling you that Ienjoy.
For some reason, which I can'texplain, I'm one of the rare
people who like like, eat scaryclowns or clowns at all.
(20:14):
Funny clowns too.
I like clowns, but I'm also aperson who enjoys some cringe
every now and then, so I thinkwe'll play a little Monday
cringe.
This is one of my favorites.
I played this on my radio showbefore, but I got a couple of
things here.
Okay, here's one.
This is QVC one.
(20:37):
This is qvc.
This is an intellectual andstimulating conversation between
the hosts on qvc discovering uhwell, I'll let all
Speaker 6 (20:53):
this let you listen.
I love that color.
That's such a happy, beautiful,rich.
Speaker 5 (20:55):
It almost kind of
looks like what the earth looks
like when you're a bazillionmiles away from the planet.
Speaker 1 (20:59):
Yes, yes, I just
squinted at it from the moon,
looking back at the planet.
Moon from the planet, moon fromthe planet moon a star, the.
I really don't even have tointerrupt this.
You talk about something thatspeaks for itself from the
planet moon, a star, the?
Speaker 6 (21:14):
no, the moon is a
planet darling the sun is a star
.
Speaker 5 (21:17):
Is the moon really a
planet?
Speaker 6 (21:18):
the moon is a planet.
Speaker 1 (21:20):
Okay, I'm gonna let
that.
I'm gonna get back to that.
Okay, because it gets evenbetter, so I'm gonna get back to
that.
I don't want to give it away, just just, just yet, because I
want to tie it into our song ofthe day.
There's a little tease.
I've never done a tease on mypodcast before.
(21:44):
That's a radio thing.
I just did a little tease.
I'll finish that because it'sbeautiful.
It's a thing of beauty, reallyis what it is.
Here's one for you.
I'll play this one you.
This is for anyone out there ona Monday Monday.
You know, some people are likeGod, golly, monday, hate Mondays
.
Back to work, trying to dealwith people, blah, blah, blah.
(22:07):
You know.
Here's a man.
This is called.
This is Ray.
I believe this is the work song.
Maybe this work song will helpyour Monday and the rest of your
week as well.
Speaker 3 (22:21):
Hi, my name is Ray
and on yesterday my daughter
called me because she wasstressed out because of things
that were going on on her jobthat she felt were quite unfair.
Being quite disturbed, shecalled for comfort and I didn't
really know what to tell herbecause we have to deal with so
much mess in our society.
So I was led to write this songjust for her, to just give her
(22:44):
some encouragement while dealingwith stress and pressures on
her job, and I figured I'd putit on the internet for all
employees under stress to helpyou better deal with what you're
going through on your job here.
Speaker 5 (22:54):
Here's how the song
goes I'm about to whip
somebody's ass.
Oh, I'm about to whipsomebody's ass.
Oh, if you don't leave me alone.
Speaker 3 (23:24):
You're going to have
to send me home cause I'm about
to whip somebody's ass.
Now you might not be able tosing that out loud, but you can
hum it to yourself, and you knowwhat the words are, and let it
give you some strength to getthrough the next few moments on
your job.
All right, stay strong.
Peace now.
Speaker 1 (23:35):
Thank you, ray.
Hope that was inspiring forsome folks out there.
Hope that was very, veryinspiring.
What else do we have?
Uh, just for fun.
How about popcorn?
I mean just for fun.
Maybe I played this recently, but I can't get enough of
popcorn.
Here we go, let's dial it up.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Good evening At the
tone.
The city daylight time will be7.53 and 50 seconds.
Good evening At the tone.
Pacific Daylight Time will be7.54 exactly.
Good evening At the tone.
(24:30):
Pacific Daylight Time will be7.54 and 10 seconds, anyone else
, get aggravated.
Speaker 1 (24:38):
You go into the
grocery store.
You go into the grocery store.
You're buying your groceries.
Number one things are tooexpensive.
They're still too expensive.
You're looking for deals.
You go to the grocery store andyou have to clip these coupons
right.
You got to clip coupons Insteadof it just being like for a
(24:59):
certain price, they want you tostand in the aisle I've talked
about it before on this podcastand you got to stand like in the
bleach aisle or dog food aisleor you know where they sell
sponges, one of the aisles whereit's, you know, quiet.
Because you got to get on yourphone and you got to look for an
app.
(25:19):
Did I get the app right?
How do I clip the coupons, allof this stuff?
By the way, you do none of thatwith patspeepscom.
You just go into this business,as we support, and say Pats
Peeps, that's it because I gottired of that Anyhow, weren't St
(25:43):
Pat's Peeps?
That's it Because I got tiredof that, anyhow.
And you go in and now not onlyare you paying these ridiculous
prices, but you know if you goin at a certain time of day,
depending on what store like, you're bagging your own
groceries, even if you don'twant to, I'm not going to
mention this place.
It's a place I've shopped atfor a long time that I love.
But they're about to lose mybusiness because I'm done, first
(26:04):
of all, paying the high prices.
Then you have to bag your owngroceries and then you know if
you have produce and you got tolook up item or key in code, hey
, why am I doing your job?
And I used to bag my groceries,so now the groceries are too
high, then I have to bag themmyself, then I do the cash
(26:25):
myself and then you know you putthem in the bag yourself.
So you're doing everything thatthey used to do in the store
and it costs more now.
So that's one thing.
But then the other thing is Iwent to a place last Friday for
(26:46):
lunch.
I was craving a burger.
I was craving a burger.
I wanted a burger, a baconcheeseburger from a certain
place with fries.
Now, because I like the place, because I'm not trying to
badmouth any place and it'slocal.
(27:06):
But here's what I don't likewhen I walk in.
So these two guys walk in infront of me, we get in and now
there's a sign I'm ready to goup to the counter and just order
, like I have done numeroustimes at this place, at this
establishment.
You'll know what it is if Itell you what they do.
Next You'll go oh, I know whathe's talking about Maybe, and
(27:27):
they give you this little thingand you put it wherever you sit.
Well, maybe there's other Ithink there's other restaurants
perhaps that do this, but anyway, it's a burger place and you
put it on your table and all ofa sudden it starts to buzz and
that way you know your order isup.
So you go get your order.
Well, they didn't do that.
I walk in.
These two guys stop in front ofme.
(27:55):
They're placing their order andsays order here and it's on a
sign.
Now I'm like, okay, wait aminute, I don't really want to
order from a sign.
I don't want to touch thisgrody ass sign with my fingers
before I eat my fries and myburger.
But now I'm probably gonna haveto.
So, uh, I guess, geez, I'll dothe sign.
I'll wait for these guys.
Now there's gonna be a linecoming out the door and now I'm
gonna have to go on the hand.
(28:15):
Well, generally, anyhow, I goin the bathroom and wash my
hands before I eat.
Anyhow, when I'm out and aboutor anywhere I go, even at home.
Then here comes this family offive I assume they were family,
they, they were all togetherkids and a couple of adults and
they just walk right by us,right to the counter, and they
(28:37):
say oh, is it?
The lady goes oh, is it okay ifwe order up here?
And the young gal behind thecounter goes oh, of course sure
with a twinkle in her eye, dingLike a Pepsodent commercials, of
course.
So now I'm behind the two guysno offense at the, at the sign I
(28:59):
don't want to touch.

But I digress.
Anyhow, music time.
I pulled this one off my shelftoday, so let's get back.
I'm going to get back to theQVC.
All right, we'll get back tothe QVC and then we're going to
(33:41):
tie it in to today's rare recordthat I pulled from my shelf.
All right, so back to Qvc andthe intellectual discussion of
whether or not, or what.
What is the moon I love?
Speaker 6 (34:01):
that color that's
such a happy, beautiful, rich it
almost kind of looks like whatthe earth looks like when you're
a bazillion miles away from theplanet yes, yes, I just
squinted at it from the moon, looking away from the planet
moon.
Speaker 5 (34:11):
Yes, I just squinted
at it From the planet moon.
Isn't the moon a?
Speaker 6 (34:14):
star.
No, the moon is a planetdarling.
Speaker 5 (34:17):
The sun is a star.
Is the moon really a planet?
Speaker 6 (34:20):
The moon is a planet.
Speaker 5 (34:21):
Don't look at me like
that.
Speaker 7 (34:22):
The sun is a star Is
the sun, not a star.
Speaker 6 (34:25):
I don't know what the
sun is.
Speaker 3 (34:26):
We don't know what
the sun is.
Speaker 6 (34:28):
The sun is a star the
moon is not a planet.
I knew it.
Speaker 5 (34:33):
I knew it, you were
trying to take me down that road
wait, the moon is not a planetchunky, if you're listening to
me.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
You have to google
this.
Call her chunky the moonsomeone I can guarantee you
someone's googling right nowchunky's googling I knew it was
not a planet I can't even standit not a planet.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
What else is?
Speaker 6 (34:49):

planet.
Speaker 5 (34:50):
It is not.
Speaker 6 (34:50):
I believe it's a star
.
Speaker 1 (34:54):
Oh my God, this is
like.
Oh no, I'm not going to say it,or something, it's a moon.
Speaker 6 (35:00):
It's a moon.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
Didn't you do that?
Speaker 6 (35:01):
thing in grade school
where you had to name the
planets and there was Uranus, and there was Saturn and the one
with the rings.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
There was Saturn and
the one with the rings.
Saturn and the one with therings yeah, and it was Saturn
and then the one with the rings, and then the Earth.
Speaker 6 (35:15):
The moon is never in
there.
Dude, it's not a planet, uh-huh, all right here.
Look, this is Keyline.
Speaker 4 (35:21):
I don't know, I don't
know what it is.
Besides, what is it baseball orsomething I'm supposed to be in
the show?
What is it cheese?
Speaker 6 (35:25):
Come on, it's a of
mine could be real.
Speaker 1 (35:29):
The moon is what.
This is what I love they givethem the real answer and they
still argue with the real answerCould be real.
Speaker 6 (35:40):
The moon is what A
natural satellite, but things
live on it.
Speaker 4 (35:45):
That means it's a
planet.
Speaker 3 (35:47):
Is that what Google
said?
No, I don't like that at all.
I don't even know what thatmeans.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
They don't believe
that.
What lives on it?
What did the guy say lives onit?
Speaker 6 (35:55):
A natural satellite.
The moon is a natural satellite, but things live on it.
Speaker 1 (35:58):
Things live on it.
Things live on the moon.
Yeah, you say, things live onit, a natural satellite the moon
is.
Speaker 6 (36:07):
It's a planet.
Speaker 1 (36:08):
Is that what Google
said?
I don't know what it says.
No, I don't like that at all.
I don't even know what thatmeans.
Yes, google said things live onthe moon.
It's an actual satellite.
Which ties me into, oddlyenough, today's rare record spin
(36:31):
on Pat's Peeps 273.
Song by an English songwritersinger, first released July 11,
1969 by Phillips and MercuryRecords.
It's a seven-inch single which,by the way, I'm holding in my
hands right now.
And here's the awesome thingthere's one stamp on it from the
radio station.
It's not awesome thing.
There's one stamp on it fromthe radio station.
(36:52):
It's not a sticker, it's astamp which says January 29,
1973.
Not for sale on one side, shortversion.
Not for sale on the other side, long version.
(37:13):
Two copies of this, stereo onthe other one, short version,
not for sale, and stereo, notfor sale, long version on the
other side.
These are two copies of thisand they are in absolutely mint
condition.
They are in absolutely mintcondition.
(37:34):
So they released it in 69 as aseven-inch single.
Then the opening track of thesecond, this artist's second
studio album, produced by GusDudgeon and reached Trident
Studios in London, recorded, Ishould say, at Trident Studios
in London, and I'm not going toget too much, I'll just tell you
(37:57):
this.
It was recorded June 20th of1969.
Psychedelic sort of folk rock, because there's so much to say
about this song, there's just solike.
(38:20):
The story just goes on and on.
But anyhow, let me give you alittle bit more about it.
Anyhow, this song, like I say,was recorded in 69.
This song, like I say, wasrecorded in 69.
It was inspired by a movie, avery famous movie from 1968
(38:41):
about feelings of alienation.
That point in his career andthis sound departed from the
music hall of his debut album topsychedelic folk, like I said,
inspired by the Bee Gees.
It was one of the mostmusically complex compositions
that this artist had written upto this point.
And then they rush releasedthis single to capitalize on
(39:07):
Apollo 11, on the moon landingSong received critical praise.
It was used by the BBC asbackground music during its
coverage of the event.
It initially sold poorly.
Then it reached number five inthe UK and became this artist's
first and only chart hit foranother three years.
And then these reissues, whichI hold in my hand, became this
(39:31):
artist's first US hit in 1972and then his first UK number one
in 1975.
So is the moon, a planet, wow, talking about a space odyssey,
(39:54):
david Bowie, rca Records.
Off-yellow label, absolutelyperfect condition, like I said,
and Ground control to Major Tom.
Speaker 7 (40:18):
Ground control to
Major Tom.
Speaker 5 (40:25):
Take your protein
pills and put your helmet on.
Speaker 4 (40:32):
Ground control to
major Tom commencing countdown
engines on check ignition, andmay God's love be with you.
Speaker 5 (41:04):
This is ground
control to Major Tom.
You've really made the grade.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
Thank you for
listening.
I don't want to get in troubleplaying too much of this.
I don't own it.
Just trying to expose the music, give the background, get a
little critique, blah, blah,blah.
Thank you, my friends.
Speaker 5 (41:34):
So much for listening
to Pat's Peeps 273.
Speaker 1 (41:44):
Happy birthday,
marconi.
Guillermo Marconi, we'll seeyou on the radio.
