Speaker 1 (00:13):
welcome to the past
peeps podcast.
Here we are at 283 on a tuesday, on a Tuesday, 17th day of June
2025.
How are you, hey?
Thanks for checking us outagain the Pat's Peeps podcast,
as I look out my studio windowon this beautiful day.
(00:35):
It's just that it is beautiful, the sun is shining, there's a
little bit of a breeze.
To be completely honest, Ihaven't been outside a lot today
because so I don't know if it'sreally hot or if it's kind of
cool, I don't know, but I'm justglad that you're here.
By the way, my name is Pat Walsh.
I also happen to be the host ofthe Pat Walsh show on radio, on
(00:57):
KFBK in Sacramento at 93.1 FM,on 1530, and, of course, on all
your streaming platforms, justlike this podcast here.
So at 283, you know we alwayschange it up today, you know,
just like yesterday, just kindof a follow-up on this it was
(01:17):
nice to have Gary Dietrich on.
He'll be back on my show, myradio show, here this evening,
as we were promoting last nightor yesterday, excuse me on the
podcast.
So Gary will be a regularfeature on Tuesday nights for
the foreseeable future, talkingabout a variety of things, a lot
of the things that I wanted totalk about on the political
(01:40):
landscape yesterday.
We never really got to itbecause we wanted to kind of
keep it anything but politicsyesterday.
So if you were listening toPat's Peeps 282, that's exactly
what we did, and so tonight Garywill be back on.
(02:00):
So, yeah, I thank you, gary forcoming on.
I do appreciate that, but therewere a few things I wanted to
get to.
Alex Padilla this guy storming,or Padilla storming into this
conference, kristi Noem pressconference it was one thing.
You know, what's happening inIran right now, of course, is
another thing.
And then this assassin whokilled people.
I wanted to talk to Gary aboutthat, but again, we kept it
(02:23):
light.
So we'll cover those topicstonight when he comes on the
show Plus again.
We will also get into someother stories, hopefully, that
are not part of politics.
By the way, you know why we'rehere.
One of the reasons ispatspeepscom.
Could you please do me a favor?
Would you at least considergoing to our website, because
I'll tell you what we have.
Another, by the way, anothernew business.
(02:44):
I just heard about this thismorning.
We're getting ready to post.
So if we can build thebusinesses and offer you more
things, if you're a business, please, please, let us know how
we can help you and we'd like toyou know, we'd like to learn
about your business, perhapssupport your business, because
we want to support the localbusiness, patspeepscom.
If you would go there, youcould see all the nice things
(03:07):
we're doing for local businessthat is going to save you money.
Like I tell you all the time, speaking of local business, I
want to say thank you.
All right to Bob Stevenson.
Bob Stevenson, where's mybuttons here?
Where's my little used buttons?
Is it this one?
Hold on, is it this button?
No, hold on a minute, I neverget these right.
Hold on, here we go.
(03:28):
Let's try this.
Let me try this.
There we go, bob Stevenson.
Ladies and gentlemen, I need touse these buttons more often.
He is from Robert L StevensonElectric Service in Grass Valley
.
Thank you, bob Stevenson.
One more Valley.
Thank you, bob Stevenson, onemore time.
Thank you.
Button, thank you.
This guy could not have beennicer, bob, if you're listening
(03:52):
Again, robert L Stevenson,electric service.
So I hate doing this, but youknow I don't hate.
I never hate revealing my trueself.
That's what I always do on adaily basis.
Some of the uglier parts youdon't want to admit to, but I
(04:16):
will.
Today.
I woke up this morning.
I woke up this morning.
You know, any time I woke up,this this morning got to go into
the blues.
I kind of had the blues.
Woke up this morning.
First thing, out of the box, wake up, you walk out of the
(04:41):
room and within the first 10steps that you take when you
wake up after a nice longnight's sleep and the first
thing that happens is not goodat all.
It isn't good.
(05:04):
It involved electrical.
I'm just going to kind of leaveit at that.
It scared me.
It could have been a dangeroussituation.
Fortunately it didn't.
Well, something did happen.
That was not good, but it couldhave been worse, all right.
So this happens.
I mean, I wasn't even 10 stepsinto my new day and when it
(05:29):
happened it scared the livingyou-know-what out.
I mean it just I thought, oh myGod, I had to step back.
It scared me.
This electrical thing.
It was dangerous.
What happened?
It shorted out, it ar dangerous.
What happened?
It shorted out, it arced.
(05:49):
Anyhow, someone was trying tohelp me.
I didn't ask for the help, Ididn't need the help, but you
know, sometimes people they wantto help, so they tried the help
.
But you know, sometimes peoplethey want to help, so they tried
to help.
You know, I said no, no, no, no, no, no, no, please, don't,
(06:12):
please, please, please, don't dothat.
That's fine, please.
But they did, and when they did, yeah, I'm not going to argue.
First of all, it's my house.
So okay, if you want to gothrough my house and do some
some changes, fine, even thoughI've asked you not to.
(06:35):
What am I?
You know, what do you do atthat point?
That's pretty bold.
I wouldn't do that in someoneelse's home, like I would never
go into someone's home and alterthings, I just don't.
But anyhow, I didn't want toargue about it, so I let it
happen.
Well, the next day, which istoday, or this may have happened
(07:00):
a couple of days, I can'treally remember, but anyhow,
today I mean mean, I know thatthis happened this morning, but
I'm just saying the altering ofthe electric may have happened,
I think it was yesterday.
Nonetheless, when it happened, the bottom line is, it appeared
to have ruined my brand newwashing machine.
(07:21):
Of this beautiful samsungwashing, I have a vintage light,
a crystal milk light, with thecrystal milk lady on there, and
it's really old and I'm veryproud of it.
I take good care of it.
So when this incident occurredand it occurred within my first
(07:45):
nine or ten steps, just to behonest with you and revealing to
you I was less than happy.
Matter of fact, yeah, I mighteven admit to the fact that I
was very mad.
I really got upset.
I'm sure I let a few curse wordsfly, you know, up in my mystery
(08:10):
hut up in the woods.
You know I've already got mydoor open.
Hopefully the neighbors were atwork.
Yeah, I let a couple of F-bombsand another couple of choice
words go.
I let a couple of F-bombs andanother couple of choice words
go and it arced.
(08:32):
And now there's this big blackI don't even burn spot on the
side of this white washingmachine.
It's like you could see wherethe thing popped, it arced, and
now it's got this big blackblast and then nothing.
Then the machine wouldn't work.
The machine she broke.
That is an inside joke for josereynoso, if you're listening,
(08:52):
jose, voice of the a's insacramento on the spanish
station.
What a good dude.
Anyhow, as I digress, themachine she broke, that's what I
thought.
Now this is a pretty newmachine.
So again, I was not happy andthat's, that's being um, uh,
(09:19):
anyhow, I got probably overlyupset about it and anytime I I
do that.
I just regret it so bad.
I just regret it.
It rarely happens because I'mvery happy, I'm very optimistic,
I'm happy, I'm kind ofeasygoing.
(09:40):
Maybe some of you are laughingat that right now, I don't know,
maybe you don't see me that way.
I feel like I am.
But I also know that I react.
I know I do Part of my DNA,part of being Irish.
You know they talk about Irishtemper.
(10:02):
If it is, it's essentiallysomething happens.
Generally you're pretty evenkeeled and something happens and
you let it go Bam, gob, beep, beep and you blow it out and
it's done.
And then 10 minutes later youjust move on and, like I said,
(10:23):
it rarely ever happens.
I don't get mad usually, but Idid.
And then my friend comes over.
I always mention Darlene with aY.
You know she's so sweet.
She comes over on Tuesdaymornings and brings me chicken
pot pies.
Now, how sweet is that?
She gets her hair done andbrings me chicken pot pies?
(10:46):
Now how sweet is that she getsher hair done and brings me
chicken pot pies?
It's just like having Aunt Beain your life.
You know someone, you just youlove them.
You just can't believe they'reso nice to you but the last
thing they need is to come overand you're all amped up because
of an incident that occurred, you know, and she caught me
(11:08):
right in the middle of that here.
She is so sweet and I'm like,oh, my god, I can't believe it.
You know, and there's a comfortlevel with someone and then you
let him know how you feel, like, yeah, I can't believe this
happened.
Can you believe this?
You know you'd be dramaticabout it.
You don't mean to be, but it'sjust so frustrating and and
she's so sweet about it and shekind of talked me down from that
(11:32):
.
And she, you know, oh, look atthe time she says, look, I got
to get going.
I don't blame you.
I don't blame you because noone wants to put up with that.
And here's what I would say youknow, I'm glad that doesn't
happen every day.
I could feel it when somethingthat does happen like that, I
could feel it.
You know, I'm glad that doesn'thappen every day.
I could feel it.
When something that does happenlike that, I could feel it.
(11:54):
You know, I don't like gettingamped up, I don't like getting
worked up, keyed up like that.
Heck, I stopped doing that, even when it comes to my sports
teams.
My friend, darcy was asking merecently around our birthday we
have the same birthday week andhe said really, pat, like you
quit getting so amped up whenyour team loses and like that,
(12:16):
how were you able to do that?
He says, because I can't dothat, I struggle with that.
And I said, well, yeah, I did, because you know it's a game and
as much as I love it and careabout my team, certainly I don't
want to risk my health over asports, over anything.
(12:38):
So I've learned to be more.
And thanks to Melissa at MoonHealing, one of my Pat's Peeps
in Auburn.
Please talk to Melissa at MoonHealing, one of my Pat's peeps
in Auburn.
Please talk to Melissa at MoonHealing in Auburn.
She has ways of helping you copewith all of these and anything
(13:02):
in your life.
And it's because of Melissa andMoon Healing that I'm able to
do that.
I'm able to tolerate morethings and not get so worked up
about things.
But on this one, I admit it, Idid.
The good thing is I know itstands out to me when it happens
, because it doesn't happen thatoften.
So my apologies for being agrouch about it.
(13:25):
Sorry to myself.
Number one, I don't need thatstress in my head Darling with a
Y.
Sorry, I mean, I didn't get madat her.
I mean she's a sweetheart, butshe had to listen to me
complaining about it and that'sno fun.
Here's the thing that I realizedand this has really changed my
(13:50):
perspective on things years ago, when I was trying to learn you
know how to deal with somethinglike that in a situation, rather
than losing your temper oversomething that is an electrical
problem in this case.
You know maybe how to avoidthat.
(14:11):
I want to be.
I'm trying to always find waysof being a better person, how to
cope a little bit better, whichis again why I went to Melissa
at Moon Healing and it wasfabulous and it does help and I
do have patience.
But sometimes, like I said so,one of the things that I read
(14:33):
and I closed the book as soon asI read it because it said
everything to me was essentially, it's not about what happened
to you, it is more about how youreacted to what happened to you
, and that's all I needed to see.
(14:56):
It could be something thatsometimes it's pleasant.
Usually it's pleasant in mylife, hopefully in yours too.
But in that circumstance, inthat rare circumstance where you
have an issue that is notpleasant, it's unpleasant, it's
inconvenient, it's frustrating,what have you?
How do you react to that?
(15:19):
I reacted inappropriately, in myestimation, because I got angry
and you know what?
It didn't help.
It didn't help one iota.
You get angry, you get pastthat and guess what?
You know the situation is stillthere and all you did is caused
perhaps some damage to yourself.
(15:42):
Stress, that's where those arewords I live by.
You know a philosophy.
Now, it's not about what it wasthat happened to you, it's how
you react, and I'm stilllearning.
But when you can remember a day, when you know, when you can
(16:04):
actually remember and go oh,yeah, that one day, and I
remember the day where I gotreally upset and I shouldn't
have got upset, yeah, thenthat's saying something.
I think that's real progress, because other than those little
issues are here and there.
It's not like I'm walkingaround with anger.
I'm very happy.
Like I said before, I'moptimistic.
I wake up happy every day, buton the occasion when the dark
(16:27):
side makes its ugly appearance, you know, I always regret it.
So there you go.
How about that?
Now I'm going to have a greatday, thanks to Bob Stevenson at
Robert L Stevenson ElectricService in Grass Valley who,
(16:49):
when I called him, I said I needto find out what's going on
here.
I can't go to work and worryabout whether my house is going
to burn down or what have you.
So, bob, when I called him,I've never met this man in my
life.
Within one minute I felt likeI'd known him for 25 years.
I said why, hey, are you?
(17:11):
Are you in Colfax?
Are you local?
He said, yeah, I'm there ingrass Valley.
I said this is my name.
Is Bob what you got?
And I said well, bob, I gotthis situation.
I got to tell you about Bob'swords, not mine.
He says, oh man, I love thisshit.
I said, really he goes oh yeah,I love it, I love trying to
(17:36):
solve stuff for people.
I mean, come on, that's greatservice.
The thing about other places, corporate places, where you get
put on hold your call is veryimportant to us.
Your current wait time is yeah, thank you for calling.
How can I help you?
Yeah, I got it.
Let me see if I can patch.
(17:56):
You know, it's just, this guywas so down to earth and so
friendly.
He loves this guy.
I love this guy.
He says all right.
So I tell him what happened andhe says all right, well, try
this now and grab somethingsimple, plug it in that outlet.
(18:16):
Let's determine what's going on.
So I plug it into the outlet.
I plug in my phone chargerGuess what?
Because I'm fearing my washingmachine's broken down.
Plug in my phone chargerNothing.
I'm fearing my wash machine'sbroken down, Plug in my phone
charger nothing.
I says to Bob, bob Stevenson atRobert L Stevenson Electric
Service in Grass Valley.
I said, bob, this might be goodnews because, guess what, my
(18:40):
phone charger isn't working.
He says, okay, now we'renarrowing it down.
Go back out to the circuitbreaker.
Bam, long story short, comesback in.
I do what he told me to do.
Flip that bad boy, the way itwas supposed to be, you know,
did what he told me to do.
Come back in.
Plug in my phone charger, bingo, it's on.
He says you plug in yourwashing machine should beep at
(19:01):
you.
Plug it in.
So there you go.
Wasn't even nearly as bad.
Now, as far as my vintage signis concerned, yes, there was
damage.
The cord burned when it arcedthe cord on, the light burned
out and literally burned theplug off the end of it.
(19:22):
So I'm going to have thatrepaired, but in the end it's
all good, everything's okay.
My house didn't burn down.
Things will be okay.
I learned a lesson it's all inhow you react.
(19:46):
Today, speaking of reactions andI know everyone's seeing it.
Today, speaking of reactions, and I know everyone's seeing it,
the big story is Iran's nuclearprogram's been hit hard.
That's going on even as wespeak, as Israel now is doing
(20:09):
everything that it can todismantle, take apart in their
own way, dismantled by bomb, thenuclear facilities in Iran.
And now you have the presidentconvening his national security
team to decide whether to takeout the key enrichment facility,
(20:31):
fordo.
And even if he says, you know,no, we're not going to be
involved in that, israel stillhas options on how to deal with
that.
But President Trump held thepress conference.
I think it was his first pressconference since no, I mean,
(20:52):
it's not Trump, excuse me, primeMinister Netanyahu his first
press conference since strikingIran's nuclear program, and he
was talking about theachievements of this Operation
Rising Lion, which he listed.
An impressive.
It was an impressive list lion, which we listed an impressive.
(21:16):
It was an impressive listtalking about how the is really.
Israeli military forces havetaken out iran's military
leadership.
They've hit hundreds ofballistic missiles, dozens of
launchers.
Uh, they've taken out half ofIran's UAVs and they've
established this air superiorityin Iran.
Now, in terms of the nuclearstuff, netanyahu has more
(21:41):
achievements that he waspointing to, for instance,
mentioning that Israel hadkilled 10 senior nuclear
scientists he had promised toreach even more and that they
have done extensive damage tothe key nuclear sites.
(22:02):
Uh-oh, all right, that was myphone ringer.
I usually have that on Do NotDisturb, who knows what song.
That is Little break in theaction on Pat's Peeps 283.
Thank you, israel.
(22:26):
Of course, learning in Gaza, theimpressive tactical
achievements don't automaticallyamount to operational success,
even though there is much damageto now much of the Iranian
nuclear program.
How far will that set them backis still.
That is a question that isstill to be determined.
(22:48):
Like I say, there are options, the bunker buster, but the US
would have to initiate that.
It's their weapon, it's ourweapon and as you look at so far
, the above ground things thathave happened in Iran, they've
(23:08):
had success and of course, thisis by design.
From the beginning of thisoperation, of this campaign,
they placed a significantemphasis on targets which were
not directly connected with thenuclear program in Iran.
It was an aerial breaching ofair defenses.
(23:29):
That was the first stage, taking out those F-14s
previously sold to them by theUnited States, and now here they
are, freely roaming around theskies of Iran, israel, saying
they dismantled the air defenseenvelope very well and they're
operating there almost freely.
(23:51):
And then another focus theballistic missile stores and
launchers.
So they could, you know, certainly impede or reduce, I
should say curtail the damagethat Iran could inflict in
Israel and as of last night, they had like 40% of the
(24:15):
ballistic missile launcherstaken out.
So that's happening still, likeI say, as we speak.
And they're also talking becausethey're after these centrifuges
.
So it's likely they're sayingthat all of the roughly 15,000
centrifuges operating at Iran'sbiggest uranium enrichment plant
and the Tans, including thoseunderground, were badly damaged
(24:41):
or destroyed, either directly orindirectly, due to a power cut
caused by the Israeli strike.
They bombed it Friday morningin the first wave of the major
strikes, starting its shockcampaign against the Iranian
military or military nuclearsites and the nuclear sites I
(25:03):
should say They've targeted theuranium conversion facility,
turning raw-mining uranium intoUF6, which is a feed gas for
centrifuges Hexafluoride,uranium, hexafluoride.
(25:24):
So I don't want to get into allof that, I don't want to get
too deep into that.
If you want more of that, ofcourse you know where to find
that either on KFPK radio or onthe radio, or of course just
turn it on the tv and you'll seeit right there.
(25:46):
So there you go.
That was therapeutic for me.
I will tell you just to kind ofreveal that today, and maybe it
was for you too, who knows.
So I plucked a record from myrecord shelf today, my rare 45s,
and no matter what it is, evenif I didn't like it, I wasn't
going to get upset.
How do I react to it?
Well, this one I'm sort ofindifferent to this one.
(26:08):
I guess you might say but boydo I ever remember this song
playing constantly in 1975.
We just did a podcast about themusic from 1975, rock music
that is.
This is more of a pop thing.
It's got the sticker on it onone of the records.
Because there's two records inthis sleeve, I want to pull them
(26:30):
out of the sleeve here.
There are two records in mintcondition, absolutely perfect,
shiny, beautiful condition forsitting on a shelf since 1975.
This is on Playboy Records.
(26:51):
How about that Promo copy?
Not for sale.
It's the same song on bothsides.
Let me see the difference here.
This is oh no, it's a differentside.
Wait a minute, I see what'shappening.
It's the same song on thisrecord on both sides.
On this one it's that song andon the flip side there's another
(27:13):
song.
Huh, okay, that's what.
I was confused at all.
Right, so there we go.
Uh, this record, like I say, came out in 75, released mid 75,
became, uh, this group's secondtop 10 hit on the Billboard Hot
(27:36):
100 in the US.
The other one they had in 1971peaked at number four and it was
their only song to reach numberone on the chart.
It was also the only pop numberone hit for Playboy Records.
It was an easy listening numberone hit in the US for a week in
(28:01):
1975.
Went to number 24 onBillboard's Hot Soul Singles,
which is really hard to believethat soul stations would play
this.
At least it is to me.
Let's see.
What else can I tell you aboutthis Major hit on the charts in
several continents?
I'm just going to play it here.
(28:29):
Man, I have memories of thisHamilton, joe, frank and
(28:55):
Reynolds falling in love.
Here we go, falling in love.
I'll tell you what I'm fallingin love again.
I couldn't ever see.
(29:16):
I'll tell you what this songreminds me of Laying in my bed,
15 years old, got my Panasonicclock radio above my head.
I go to sleep at night, got thefan at the end of my bed and I
remember all the songs thatwould play on the radio that
year, including this one Baby, baby, falling in love.
(29:44):
I'm falling in love again.
Wildfire, michael Martin Murphy.
Remember that one?
1975, blackbirds Walking inRhythm.
Wildfire, michael Martin Murphy.
Remember that one?
1975, blackbirds Walkin' inRhythm.
David Bowie, fame, zz Top.
Tush, it seems like yesterdayyou and I first loved this way,
(30:06):
captain and Tennille.
Love Will Keep Us Together.
Love can go with each and everyday as we lay at midnight sound
.
Dino Might by Bazooka.
Together, dynamite by Bazooka.
Thank you for listening, thanksfor putting up with me.
See you on the radio.
(30:29):
I'm falling in love again.
Baby, baby falling in love.
I'm falling in love again.
