Milestone moments and exciting announcements fill episode 297 as we steadily approach the big 300 mark! Broadcasting from the foothills of Northern California with weed eaters working diligently in the background, I'm sharing some truly electrifying news for music lovers.

The legendary Robin Trower—one of my top five favorite rock guitarists of all time—has agreed to appear on the Pat's Peeps podcast! But that's not all. Potential appearances by country icon Marty Stewart and rock band Everclear (whose "AM Radio" I play at the start of every radio show) might also be in our future. These conversations represent dream opportunities for me as both a broadcaster and lifelong music fan.

Media appearances are stacking up as we prepare to promote our Pat's Peeps community events. I'll be on Fox 40's Studio Live with Gary Gelfand and Scott Moak on Thursday, followed by filling in for Sam Shane on The Shane Reaction on Friday. The biggest news? Our upcoming Pat's Peeps gathering at the State Fair, tentatively scheduled for July 22-24 at the Save Mart Wine Bar area. This marks a significant push for the business side of our podcast community.

The episode takes a fascinating turn as I share clips from Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd's recent "Fool Around and Find Out Operation" targeting human trafficking, with his colorful commentary on the 255 arrests made. I also reflect on rewatching the 1971 Clint Eastwood film "Play Misty For Me" about a radio DJ stalked by an obsessed listener—a movie that still sends chills down the spine of anyone working in radio.

As we close with Christopher Cross's "Sailing" (which reminds me of beautiful Portofino), I extend an invitation to join our Pat's Peeps Tour to Sicily this October. Whether you're a longtime listener or just discovering us, there's never been a better time to become part of our growing community. Visit patspeeps.com to learn more and support the local businesses that make our podcast possible!

We like the Save Mart Wine Bararea.
You have cover and are closeenough to action.
This is where people would takea break and relax.
We're looking at Tuesday July22nd or Wednesday July 23rd or

(02:01):
Thursday July 24th.
These are the preliminary wordshere on when we're going to
have our Pats Peeps gathering,at least one at least.
So we'll get confirmation, theysay in the next few days, and
then you could begin to promote.
But I need to know before theday after tomorrow, because the

(02:21):
day after tomorrow is the daythat I'm going to be on studio
Fox 40, studio Live with GaryGelfand and Scott Moak and we're
going to be promoting thisthing.
So I'm so proud that here weare at Pat's Peeps about 300
podcasts getting ready topromote this thing on TV,
getting ready to tell you howyou can save money and recruit
more businesses that we're justtrying to help.

(02:43):
So that's happening.
I'll be on TV on Thursday, thenI'll be can you believe filling
in for another talk show hoston Friday.
Sam Shane will be off Fridayand I'll be filling in on the
Shane reaction.
Very rarely am I a fill-in talkshow host, but you know what?

(03:05):
Hey, I do my part when someoneneeds it.
What I am is a full-time talkshow host at KFPK Radio in
Sacramento, 93.1 FM, 1530 AM,streaming live everywhere on the
free iHeart app, just like thispodcast.
Unfortunately, today's pod'sgoing to be a little bit shorter
, as I am going to a Pats Peepsbusiness that I'm very, very

(03:30):
excited about Rehorn RV Partsand Accessories in Sacramento.
I'm going to head down there,we're going to talk to them
about our business.
They're excited and, boy oh boy, so am I, because you know what
they treat you great, and so,and tomorrow and the next day,
I'm going to be introducing youto more of our Pat's Peeps.
So this is the biggest time.

(03:55):
This next couple of weeks isgoing to be the biggest push so
far for the business part ofthis.
You know I come on here everyday and I do the podcast portion
, but now, finally, after a lotof maneuvering and, you know,
trying to get things right andblah, blah, blah, we are now
going to be focusing also on theexcellent business side of this
.
Okay, now here's where I want tostart today.

(04:15):
Let me see, did I miss anythingthere?
Let's see, oh, yes, I did.
Also great news.
So you know one of my all-timefavorite rockers I would put in
my top five favorite rockguitarists of all time.
Also, one of his albums is inmy top five greatest rock albums

(04:37):
of all time for hard rock andthat would be Robin Trower.
Robin Trower is coming to ourarea in a couple of months.
You know I inquired aboutgetting him on my podcast.
I got to get Robin Trower on mypodcast, got a phone call back.
Today.
Robin Trower, it appears, willbe on the Pat's Peeps podcast.

(05:00):
Oh my God, I'm so excited aboutthat.
So, on top of that, the younglady I'm speaking with I did not
, I'm not going to give her aname because she I didn't ask
her permission, but I will atsome point she goes.
Well, what about?
What do you think about MartyStewart?
I went what Marty Stewart?

(05:21):
What about Marty Stewart?
Would you like to have MartyStewart?
Are you kidding me?
Marty Stewart, who was anotherone of my favorites I mean used
to be the mandolin player forBill Monroe, I mean I've been
around.
I mean the song I've beenaround he does with Johnny Cash
so awesome.
Which then she says are youinto Everclear?

(05:44):
I said, oh, my God, my god, what?
Because every single night Iplay a little portion of
Everclear when I start my radioshow and I was telling someone
the other day that no songrepresents me as Pat Walsh more
than the song AM radio byEverclear.
So we may be having them on mypodcast as well.

(06:04):
So this is a great day for thepodcast and it's going to be a
great week for the podcast.
Right now I'm getting blown outby the dust.
Right now they're outside mywindow.
Hold on, let me look.
Let me look here.
Where are they at?
Oh, yeah, they're right outsidemy window.
Hey, they're knocking it downpretty good, plowing through

(06:25):
this.
Oh, what a relief this is goingto be.
It's mesmerizing to kind ofwatch it.
I don't know what it is to seethese weeds just be taken down
flat to the ground like this.
Anyhow, well, I digresssometimes.
I like digressing like that.
My yard's going to be great.

(06:47):
So, yeah, I'm very excited abouteverything happening.
I'd be being perfectly honestwith you.
What would mean the greatestthing of all is if you would
please, and now if you'relooking and you go, yeah, but
some of the things I want to do,some of the things I don't need
, well, we're going to be addingmore and more businesses and

(07:08):
that's why I keep reaching outto you.
If you have a business we wantto promote you.
If you are anyone who islistening, go to the existing
businesses that we have andsupport them.
Just go, pat's Peeps, they'regoing to be blown away and
you're really going to help memake this successful.
All right, like I say, a littleshorter than usual today.

(07:32):
I absolutely love this.
Bite is so great I got to sayit.
So great.
All right, I got to say it sogreat.
This is the Polk County Sheriff, grady Judd.
Anyone know Grady Judd?

(07:56):
So Grady Judd this guy is.
I mean, I love his.
I'm not going to say it, I'lljust play it for you, but he's
talking about one of theculprits.
They have this thing called theFool Around and Find Out
Operation.
This is going on in Polk County, florida, conducted by the Polk

(08:17):
County Sheriff's Office.
I got to get something to drink.
Pardon me, I think the dust isgetting to me.
Anyhow, polk County Sheriff'sOffice here in Florida and their
partner agencies.
Right, it was a nine-dayundercover investigation focused
on human trafficking.
Thank God they're looking intothat scourge of the scourge of

(08:41):
child predators, illegalimmigration and more 255 arrests
.
People arrested for variouscharges, including soliciting
prostitutes offering to commitprostitution Think about that
one Aiding or abettingprostitution.
Child exploitation Marks thehighest number of arrests during

(09:05):
a single undercover operationby the PCSO, polk County
Sheriff's Office Detectivescharging a total of 102 felonies
, 284 misdemeanors.
The arrested individualsinclude a wide range of ages
from 17 to 70.
A wide range of ages from 17 to70.

(09:25):
And backgrounds includingformer NFL player, regional Red
Cross exec and more Humantrafficking victims.
Yes, four potential humantrafficking victims were
identified.
Offered services 11 individualsarrested for soliciting minors
online.
Filth scum of the earthIdentified 11 individuals

(09:49):
arrested for soliciting minors.
36 illegal immigrants found tobe in the US, with ICE Lodging
over 30 detainers.
You had suspects with extensiveprior criminal histories,
including charges forpremeditated murder, attempted
murder, kidnapping, robbery, aggravated battery and sexual

(10:11):
assault.
And let's not forget aboutnarcotics and firearms, as 25 of
these individuals facednarcotics possession charges and
eight firearms were seized inthe operation.
So big thank you to ICE andwhat they did there.
The goals of the operation, according to Sheriff Grady Judd,
were to identify the victims, help them arrest those fueling

(10:35):
the human exploitation, and heemphasized that the prostitution
is not a victimless crime.
This is his way.
It's beautiful His explanation,and I agree.
I'll preface it by saying Iagree with him 100% when he puts

(10:56):
it like this about prostitutionis not a victimless crime.
Ah, is not a victimless crime, all right.
Ah, ah, I just blew it there.
All right, let's see if we cando this.
Ah, I just blew the first partof this.
Here we go.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
Ah, 43 from Davenport .
This is our human traffickingand prostitution folks.
He's charged with offering tocommit.
This is this, is this JasonBathurst.
When he walks in, you think, well, I have set up a deal with
an ugly woman, and I think youwould all agree that this guy's

(11:40):
an ugly woman.
This is what you really getwhen the makeup comes off.

Speaker 1 (11:47):
This is Jason Bathurst.
Now I want you to think aboutthis a minute.

Speaker 3 (11:50):
okay, you decide that you're going to hook up with a
woman.
She comes in and she's alreadyuglier than a mud fence Right.
And then, as you start toengage, you find out hey, this
dudette is a dude, and look whathe really looks like.
Oh my yeah, he looks like heshould have been in a Scarface

(12:12):
movie someplace.

Speaker 2 (12:13):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (12:14):
This is what's happening.
People think they're gettingthis and many times they're
getting a really bad guy.
So this is the before and after.
You know, when you find them inthe bar at night, you know you
try to drink them pretty and youwake up the next morning and
you see this?
Yeah, that's what we call Rolexugly.

(12:35):
Rolex ugly is you wake up thenext morning and they're laying
on your arm and your Rolex isthere and you just chew your arm
off and leave the Rolex.
You just got to get out ofthere.
You don't care about the Rolex.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
You're snoozing away.
You wake up.
You can't figure what thatputrid smell is next to you.
You're all over.
You're like am I laying next toa bear?
What is this?
Is there an animal in my butt?
Yeah, some guy with a hairy ass.

(13:13):
You know, got a big old, hairy, like Ed Asner, like you're
spooning with Ed Asner.
Ed Asner with lipstick and awig.
Oh baby, how you doing thatsheriff is awesome man.
Anyhow, very good Weed Eaterstill at it.

(13:40):
Pat's Peeps podcast 297,.
My friends, I don't even hidethe noise anymore, I like it.
Pat's Peeps podcast $2.97,.
My friends, I don't even hidethe noise anymore, I like it.
So I tortured myself.
Being a radio guy.
I tortured myself with the everwith the movie.
They will always torture radiopeople.
Clint Eastwood I love the movie.
I hadn't seen it in a long time.
Freaked me out as bad as itever did.

(14:01):
Anyone remember the 1971 moviePlay Misty for Me, but that
movie there if you're in radio, that movie there scared the heck
out of you.
It's about a stalker.
I think I'm going to tellstalker stories on my show

(14:24):
tonight because Jessica Walterwas awesome.
Clint Eastwood great plays aradio host.
Jessica Walter plays anobsessed listener and believe me
when I tell you I've had thosein the past and I'm going to.
I've had stalker stories thatI'm going to share on my radio

(14:46):
show tonight.
But when I watched the movieman oh man, it brought back some
memories and some thoughts, andit can be very scary.
She says play Misty for me.
She's scary in this.
Play Misty for me.
Yeah, for Clint Eastwood.

(15:12):
An invitation to terror.
Isn't that?
Isn't that?
Who is that voice?
Isn't that?
Who is that?
Is that the guy that playedcanon?
Oh god, find yourself beingcompletely smothered by somebody
.

Speaker 4 (15:23):
there's no escape in passion, there's no escape in
speed, there's no escape fromterror.
You will change your locks, huh.

Speaker 1 (15:43):
Is that, william Conrad?
Nobody asked you to wait forhim, You're not jumping me
buster blue eyes.
Is that William Conrad?
Oh, my god, terrifying.
Yeah, yeah, krml Radio back.

Speaker 4 (16:03):
Play misty for me krml radio, terrifying words
you'll ever hear.
Play misty.
For me the screen's mostfrightening plunge into terror.
Have to get you all nice fordavid.
I hope he likes what he seeswhen he walks in here I got some
stories to share with youbecause that's what he's taking
to hell with him.
Just hope we're lucky enough tograb her the next time she

(16:25):
tries it.

Speaker 2 (16:26):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
Tries what you know To kill you.
The next scream you hear willbe your own Jeez.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
I mean this is as good as Fatal Attraction.
Remember that one, ClintEastwood Play Misty for me.
I bet that had so many screams.
I bet that had so many screamsin the movie theater like Wait
Until Dark.
That might have had more thanWait Until Dark, Lord.
And then you had this song inthere and it just the song is

(17:02):
even haunting, Even though andit's a beautiful song, even
though it's during a part of themovie where it's kind of just
showing you part of Carmel bythe Sea.
Remember when they used to havethat ad Carmel by the Sea?
It just so happens to be.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
It just so happens to be.

Speaker 1 (17:29):
The most beautiful place in the world.
Anyone remember that ad 1970sbaby Roberta Flack Rose in your
eyes.
And I can never listen to thissong the same again, Just cause

(17:52):
it's attached to this movie.
And no, I don't own the rightsto that.
Stop, Thank you, but anyhow.
So tonight I think I will getinto that Stalker Stories and do
a little review of a movie thatis from 1971.

(18:14):
But that's okay.
That was a huge movie and againit's still a nightmare to
people that work in radio.
Dave Garver was Clint Eastwood'sname in this movie.
He played a DJ on KRML Radioand, believe me, most of the
stalkers that I've had to dealwith from radio, not from

(18:37):
relationships, um, we're inmusic radio, not necessarily
talk radio, but music radio ofall things Can you imagine.
But Dave Garver is supposedlybroadcast nightly from a studio,
like I do, but he's inCarmel-by-the-Sea.
He would incorporate poetryinto his program and he had that

(19:02):
little convertible.
I drive a convertible, he had alittle convertible, I drive a
convertible, he had a littleconvertible.
Go to his favorite bar, playthis little game at the bar with
like corks and bottle caps.
With a guy working at the barand Evelyn Draper is this
woman's name that becomes justcrazed, and that's Jessica

(19:24):
Walter.
She does a great job, man.
My yard's looking good outthere, Looking really good, so
we'll get into that tonight.
Let's see what else.
Oh, let's just I kind of like Isay it's going to be a little
shorter today, so I could haveclosed it with that, but I think

(19:46):
I did pull a record from mycollection today so I'm not
going to close it with RobertaFlack because I think that I
have a little more upliftingsong.
In fact it reminds me ofPortofino now, when we were in
Portofino, Italy.
If you would like to go toSicily with us the Pat's Peeps

(20:08):
Tour coming up October 25th toNovember 5th go to
conservativetourscom and lookfor the Pat Walsh trip to Sicily
.
We're going to go to Sicily forthe fall.
We would love to have you joinour Pat's Peeps group of
wonderful people.
But this one came up when I wasin Italy.
It came up.

(20:29):
I used it in a video, one of mydigital postings, because it
fits so well in Portofino.
It was so beautiful, 1979, it'ssoft rock, Call it yacht rock,
whatever you want to call it.
I do like this one, Written andrecorded by an American
singer-songwriter, released in1980, June of 80.
Second single from hisself-titled debut album, which

(20:52):
was already certified gold bythe time this was released, Huge
success in the United Stateswent to number one on the
Billboard Hot 100 chart August30th 1980, stayed there for a
week.
It won Grammy Awards for Recordof the Year, Song of the Year,
Arranger of the Year.
It helped this artist win theBest New Artist Award.

(21:12):
Vh1 named this song the mostsoft-sational soft rock song of
all time.
It was recorded in 1979 usingthe 3M digital recording system,
made it one of the firstdigitally recorded songs to
chart and in his Grammyappearance speech he

(21:35):
acknowledged this song as hisfavorite song on the album and
that originally it was not meantto be even a single.
But it fit perfectly inPortofino and that beautiful
water and everything surroundingit.
Christopher Cross, 1979,sailing on Pat's Peeps 297.

(21:59):
White Warner Brothers label.

(22:20):
White Warner Brothers label.
In absolute immaculatecondition.

Speaker 2 (22:32):
You can sail away and find tranquility.
Oh, the canvas can do miracles.
Just you wait and see.
Believe me, it's not far toNever, never Land.

(23:00):
No reason to pretend.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
And if the wind is right, you not for sale says
right there, One side is stereo, the other side is mono.
Listening to stereo.
Thank you for listening toPat's Peeps Podcast 297.
