SPEAKER_04 (00:13):
Well, welcome back.
Welcome back.
It's the Patch Peeps Podcast.
What do we 360?
After a four-parter at 359.
I've never done that before.
Hello, it's Patrick.
Good to be in your headphonesagain.
Thank you for listening.
On this Tuesday, November 11th,2025.
(00:37):
It's Veterans Day.
Hello to all the veterans whoare listening, and God bless our
veterans.
Thank you.
It's good to be back here inAmerica.
Very proud of our country.
And on this Tuesday, it's a goodthe clouds have rolled in.
It's gorgeous outside, but theclouds have moved in, so it's a
(00:58):
little cooler today.
I had the opportunity to go outand mow my lawn before the rain
comes in.
I don't know if that's gonnawin, if if and when that's gonna
happen, but it seemed like anice day to do that.
It's also fire season.
Like you can go burn stuff uphere in the foothills.
Oh my hills! I love doing that.
Especially like in November andin December, you know, around
(01:19):
Thanksgiving time, there'ssomething I absolutely love.
I usually hate raking, I alwaysreally hate raking up the all
the pine needles, but I lovehaving a bonfire in the fall.
In the winter aroundThanksgiving, you have a few
days off, which I did just enjoysome time off, but I love that
time of year.
And I like to go out there and Ilike to listen to old classic
(01:41):
radio shows and sit around thebond the fire and just kind of
you know burn the leaves and thethe with all the stuff that you
know the wood and all that stuffthat you need to get rid of on
when you have property.
So as many of you know, I mean Ilive in the mystery hut up here
in the foothills, but uh I justcome back from a blessed
vacation, incredible vacationwith a great group of Pat's
(02:03):
peeps group.
Thank you to everyone whotraveled with us on this
incredible journey from Sicilyto the mainland of Italy, where
we spent a couple of weeks.
Uh and then Ryan Harris and I,who went from Naples, we flew
from Naples to England, talkedall about it on my radio show,
by the way.
My name is Pat Walsh.
(02:24):
I'm the host of the Pat Walshshow, as heard on KFPK Radio in
Sacramento, 93.1 FM, 1530 a.m.,streaming live everywhere on
your free iHeart app, all yourstreaming platforms.
So it was good to get back onthe air last night.
We kind of we talked all aboutour ventures to England and our
Beatles tours and you know, everything that we saw in Italy,
(02:45):
but a fine group of people totravel with.
You know, now it appears we'regonna be going to Portugal in
Spain sometime, and I don't knowif it's gonna be in the spring
or the fall.
I I don't really know, butthat's coming up.
We'll tell you all about thatwhen we get to that point.
Also, hey, as I start the showoff tonight, please, oh my gosh,
free food for you.
(03:06):
I'm gonna keep telling you aboutthis.
I would just love it if, youknow, if you again, if you guys
would take advantage of this, mygosh, I mean, it's absolutely
free food, right?
And it's supporting localbusiness and it's helping mob
business, man.
I really need for for you knowfolks to go check out the Rock
and Soul Diner, R O C and thenSoul S O L free, two for one
(03:30):
dinner.
Not breakfast, not lunch, we'retalking dinner.
We're pushing dinner.
So let's say you're going toSacramento, they're right there
at what, 10th and R, I think itis on R Street.
Matt is the owner.
Please, heck, you know, like Ilike I always mention on Friday
and Saturdays you got the primerib two for one.
You all you do is say Pat'sPeeps.
There's nothing else you have todo.
(03:51):
But you get anything on the menufor dinner.
So please check out Rock andSoul Diner.
And thanks to the Rock and SoulDiner for being a Pat's Peeps
business and to all of ourbusinesses.
Uh-d this So take advantage ofthat.
You know, when when I was overuh when we were in on our trip,
one of the great things is thatuh there was no I never turned a
TV on.
(04:11):
I mentioned that on my show lastnight.
So I was very far away from thestress of politics and all of
that.
It was so wonderful to not haveto be uh to not have to think
about that.
No, none of that kind of stress.
Now, of course, tonight on theshow we'll have Gary Dietrich on
to start the show, which will bepolitics, but you know, at some
(04:34):
point I guess you can't justignore it, but I certainly did
on my trip, and man, it felt sogood.
And as far as driving, you know,I don't I'm I'm not trying to
repeat everything I said on myshow last night, but again, I
take something away from all ofthese trips.
And when it comes to Italy, theyI mean, chaotic traffic.
You got little clown cars, theyzip and do to get the mopeds and
(04:55):
there's all going big buses.
You got people on motorizedscooters, it's unbelievable.
And they're all on the sharing aroad together, but yet they're
they somehow make it work.
Like just do what you do, andthen everyone just kind of goes,
okay, no problem.
And no one's flipping anyone offor anything like that.
So I really take that elementwith me back here into the
(05:17):
state.
So I'm so such a calm drivernow, and it's been that way for
a number of years.
I noticed that years ago.
So I'm just so blessed to beable to take some of these
trips, and hopefully, you know, you maybe you'll have an
opportunity to do that with us.
As I did mention here today, itis well, before I get to that,
you know, I speaking of the tripcoming back, I thought, you
(05:42):
know, Heathrow Airport inLondon, I just thought, oh my
God, Heathrow, you've got to bekidding me.
I've never been there, but itjust sounds like the biggest.
I'm not a big airport person, you know, they stress me out.
The weird lighting.
Some of the, you know, thehallways and the the chaos.
I just not a big fan.
However, I've done it many, manytimes.
(06:04):
It's uh it's you gotta you haveto do it.
So I'm thinking Heathrow, oh no,on the way home.
Can I just tell you?
That was like the easiestexperience that I've had flying.
It's super easy.
Sacramento, I I applaud you, theSacramento International
Airport.
Very nice place to fly in andout of.
The same thing.
Now, I'm sure that Heathrow getsoverrun with people all the
(06:28):
time, like super busy.
But for whatever reason, I weRyan, me and Ryan coming home,
we did not hit that.
It was so smooth.
Ryan is a good traveler, he'sgot it all down.
I just follow like he, like he'sabout like a like a baby duck.
I'm just following along, man.
Whatever Ryan, he's got it allplanned, so I trusted him.
But and and everyone at Heathrowwas very nice.
(06:52):
So a shout out to Heathrow, man.
But you know, nearly 75 flightswere canceled at SAC
International because of thisshutdown, as of yesterday.
So we got lucky.
We had very we didn't evenreally have any delays.
We flew from Heathrow to Denver, the way Ryan had it set up,
where we both had aisle seats.
(07:13):
I like the aisle seat.
And so it made so because we'dgone from Naples, we'd gone from
Italy to l to uh England youknow, be a few days before we
came back to America, that cutlike almost three hours off of
the flight, so that made adifference.
So we we cut off one leg of theflight, and then that made that
(07:34):
flight shorter.
And we flew all the way toDenver where we only had 90
minutes before the next flight,so it was absolutely perfect.
Matter of fact, this is the eventhough I do I have a little bit
of jet lag, it's not like I'mextraordinarily tired like I
have been on some of the othertrips.
Plus, I'm kind of getting usedto how things roll.
(07:54):
I watch The Godfather on the wayback, I and I go to sleep.
I just kind of, you know, I justI'm getting more used to it.
But SAC International, travelersthere facing the worst wave of
the flight cancellations.
This was um on Sunday.
I mean, Sunday.
We came back Saturday.
How lucky! 34 flights werecanceled Sunday.
(08:17):
You talk about incredibletiming.
And why?
Well, of course, it's theongoing federal government
shutdown, which we're all sickof hearing about.
In all, according to the latestreport, nearly 75, now probably
more, have been canceled sinceFriday.
And you have the transportationsecretary, Sean Duffy, ordering
(08:41):
the flights to be graduallyreduced by 10%.
And that was starting Friday.
And there's a 40 of thebusiness, I mean, excuse me, the
uh busiest uh U.S.
airports, including several herein California, but not SMF.
So we are incredibly incrediblyfortunate.
(09:06):
There's a safety precaution.
I mean, uh according to Duffy, the staffing staffing shortages,
they plagued the airports.
And the most troubling among theair traffic controllers who have
been reporting to work withoutpay since the shutdown began
October the first.
Nice job, government.
Really nice.
Of course, you know, you gottapass that.
They don't want to pass thatbill unless we can pay the
(09:27):
medical for all of the peoplewho are illegally, but I'm not
gonna go down that road rightnow.
But although SacramentoInternational is not one of the
airports on the list, it is uhall but one of the canceled
Sacramento flights were headedor in, we're headed, or two were
coming back from airports thathad seen the flights that have
(09:48):
been cut.
Anyhow, my point is we werelucky there.
That's the bottom line.
Today being Veterans Day, myfriends, Veterans Day.
Formerly known as Armistice Day,God bless our veterans.
Can't say enough about ourveterans.
(10:09):
This is the reason we have ourfreedom.
And when you travel the worldand you get to know these
stories, and you don't have totravel the world to know the
stories, but when you see it, itreally you really feel a sense
of pride.
Like, my god, we are a greatcountry.
We lead the world when it comesto freedom.
Why?
Because of our veterans, military veterans of the United
States States Armed Forces.
(10:34):
By the way, distinct fromMemorial Day.
Veterans Day, we commemorate theservice of all of the U.S.
veterans.
The memorial Memorial Day is anolder holiday.
We grew out of the Civil Warcommemorations, honoring those
who died while in militaryservice.
(10:55):
There's, of course, another daythat we honor the military,
which we should do every day,but you know, I'm just saying
there's these days inparticular, Armed Forces Day in
May, honors those currentlyserving in the U.S.
military.
Salute to all of you.
Women's Veterans Day, recognizedby a growing number of U.S.
(11:16):
states that specifically honorwomen to have served in the U.S.
military.
Listen, to me, I get what you'redoing there.
I get that, but I think it'sokay to just say veterans.
Why do we have to break it up towomen?
Maybe you think, well, but thewomen get lost in the shuffle.
I don't think so.
I think that people who arehonoring veterans honor all
(11:37):
veterans.
Like we don't have men'sVeterans Day.
Maybe we think that all men areveterans, but that's just not
the case.
Veterans covers everything.
So I'm not big on you know theseparation of the sexes when it
comes to the day.
Maybe you agree, maybe youdisagree, but Woodrow Wilson in
1919, president, issuing amessage to his countrymen on the
(12:03):
first armistice day.
He expressed that he felt theday meant what it what it meant
to Americans.
So you're talking about comingoff World War I.
Also, one year after the Spanishuh flu, where so many died, I
think more people might havedied from the flu even than the
(12:23):
than than during the war.
I could be wrong, but but hesaid a year ago our enemies laid
down their arms in accordancewith an armistice which rendered
them impotent to renew hostrenew hostilities, gave to the
world an assured opportunity toreconstruct it, shattered order,
and to work out a peace.
A new and more just set ofinternational relations.
(12:47):
The soldiers and the people ofthe European Allies had fought
and endured for more than fouryears to uphold the barrier of
civilization against theaggressions of armed force.
We ourselves, he said, had beenin the conflict something more
than a year and a half.
And this goes on and on.
(13:07):
It's beautiful with a splendidforgetfulness of mere personal
concerns, we remodeled, said thepresident.
Our industries concentrated ourfinancial resources, increased
our agricultural output, assembled a great army, so that
the last our power was at last,I should say, our power was a
(13:28):
decisive factor in the victory.
We were able to bring the vastresources, material, and morale
of a great and free people tothe assistance of our associates
in Europe who had suffered andsacrificed without limits in the
cost for which we fought.
Out of this victory, he saysthere arose new possibilities of
(13:51):
political freedom and economicconcert concert.
The war showed the strength ofgreat nations acting together
for high purposes, and thevictory of arms foretells the
enduring conquests which can bemade in peace when nations j act
justify uh justly and infurtherance of the common
interests of men.
And he concludes by saying to usin America, the reflections of
(14:16):
Armistice Day will be filledwith solemn pride in the heroism
of those who died in thecountry's service and with
gratitude for the victory, bothbecause of the thing from which
it has freed us and because ofthe opportunity that it has
given America to show hersympathy with peace and justice
(14:37):
in the councils of nations.
Again, that was PresidentWoodrow Wilson.
On this Tuesday, Pat's Peeps,number 360.
What else I wanted to mentiontoday?
(14:58):
Just to lighten things up alittle bit, and yeah, and when I
conclude, I'll conclude with uma record off of my shelf that I
want to feature today onVeterans Day.
How about some really coolstuff?
Let's go a completely differentdirection here for a second.
Alright?
Because you know I always loveto lighten it up with
particularly music.
(15:22):
And I hate to say it, but I butI kind of this AI is so good and
so scary sometimes.
This artificial intelligence.
So I thought, I, you know, soI've been messing around,
listening to some things, andthinking, you know, at one point
(15:43):
in my life, if I would haveheard anyone take some of my
favorite songs and change themup to another way, I would have
been so mad.
These days I'm I have an openmind because quite frankly, the
good and the bad is that theseare classics, some of them, not
all of them, but these are wellknown, most of them.
And we do the these AI generatedcovers are being done.
(16:08):
Okay, what's so bad about that?
Well, it's because it's AI.
It's not the original, but dangGod, it is so good.
And I hate to say that.
Now, is it as good as theoriginals?
No.
But I just thought I'd play acouple of these just so you can
get an idea what I'm talkingabout.
See how long you can tell beforeyou know what this is.
(16:31):
Well, I'll just tell you.
I'll just tell you.
Hotel California, if it were a1960s Motown soul song.
I mean, you judge for yourself.
Pats Peeps, three hundred andsixty.
SPEAKER_03 (17:23):
On a dark desert
highway, who wind in my hair.
Smell of Khalitus rising upthrough the air.
Up ahead in the distance.
I saw a shimmering light.
My head grew heavy and my sightgrew dim.
(17:46):
I had to stop for the night.
There she stood in the doorway.
I heard the mission bell.
And I was thinking to myself, this could be heaven.
This could be hell.
And she showed me the way.
SPEAKER_04 (18:19):
What do you think of
that?
SPEAKER_03 (18:34):
It is time of you.
It is time of you can find it.
SPEAKER_04 (18:42):
I mean, you know I
can see someone doing the cover
like this.
SPEAKER_03 (18:51):
She got the most
latest pants.
She got a lot of pretty, prettyboys.
She calls friends.
How they dance in the cordial.
Sweet, some more sweet.
Some dance to remember.
SPEAKER_04 (19:11):
Some dance to focus.
This is done by something calledFuture Orchestra.
Future Orchestra, if you want tosubscribe.
Maybe they won't get mad at meif I promote them.
SPEAKER_03 (19:33):
Wake you up in the
middle of the night.
Just to hear them say.
SPEAKER_04 (19:39):
Again, future
orchestra.
It's pretty good.
Maybe it's just me.
Pretty good.
Alright, let's take it toanother different style of
music.
Let's go.
So here is another AI generated, but again, tell me what you
think.
This is MM without me.
(20:01):
If it were a 1950s, Motown SoulSong.
SPEAKER_02 (20:05):
Guess what's back?
Guess who's back?
Guess who back?
Guess who's back?
SPEAKER_03 (20:15):
No, no, no, no, no,
no, no.
I've created a monster.
Nobody wants to see my shoe nomore.
They want shady.
I'm choppy liver.
Well, if you want shady, this iswhat I give you.
A little bit of meat mixed withsome heart liquor.
(20:38):
Some bugger that'll jump.
I'm starting my heart quickerthan a shock when I can shot
that.
I'm hospital by the doctor.
When I'm not a cool operating, when I'm rockin' the table while
it's operating.
Hey, you waited this long tostop debating.
Cause I'm back, I'm on the Iknow that you got a job.
I miss chainin', but yourhusband's harm's problems
complicating.
So the FCC won't let me be.
(20:58):
Oh, let me be me, so let me see.
They try to shut me down on MTV.
But it feels so empty withoutme.
So come on, dip, bum on yourlips, jump jiggle the hip and
wiggle a bit, cause this isabout to get heavy.
I just give a love my lava suit.
If you debe nah, I got a job forme, so everybody.

SPEAKER_03 (21:52):
Embarrassed apparent

stop feeling like prisonershelpless.
So someone comes along on amission and yells bit.
SPEAKER_04 (22:01):
Madonna just won the
back-to-back championships.
Look like the blue gymnast,we're gonna take it bulbs at the
start of the game up with athree-run jump.
(22:40):
This game was amazing.
People on the line saying, Thisis the best World Series, so
exciting to watch it.
I love the World Series.
Yes, my team.
Well, let's keep going.
I mean, just Toronto, they weretwo bucks away from winning it
in front of their hometown fans.
(23:04):
Until McGambler Alhamdulillahsince September 3rd goes deep to
tie the game, one out in theninth.
And then makes an incredibleplay, play at second base, stops
(23:27):
the ball, gets up, almost tipsover him again, off balance,
throws his guns in home for thefourth.
(23:56):
I mean.
I woke up in the morning inSicily.
My phone looked like a slotmachine.
It was sold of people trying totell me awake up, bang awake.
It's the game starting at 1 a.m.
I mean, it was just incredible.
Here you go.
SPEAKER_01 (24:20):
The Dodgers stand
tall! Handling back to back
titles.
SPEAKER_04 (24:26):
I could not be more
proud of my team.
Am I rubbing it in?
No, I'm just stating a fact, butit feels good.
Feels great as a fan.
And I watch every single game.
So that was incredible, eventhough I was, I couldn't really
watch it because I was in Sicilyand Italy, which I'm not gonna,
(24:47):
you know what?
Hey, again, that's a blessing.
Then going to England and seeingall of the stuff there that we
could possibly fit in withinthree days, including the
Beatles tour, which you've justheard on the previous podcast.
So again, blessed to travel thiscountry, um, blessed to be an
American.
I know that they love Americanmusic in Europe.
(25:09):
They love it.
Everywhere you go, you hearAmerican music.
You know, we love Americanmusic, but we also love the
European music.
So do they.
But as Kitty O'Neill, my one ofmy partner at the station, on
our partner says um, you know, last night, they just love that
American music.
So thank you to our veterans onthis Veterans Day.
(25:31):
We're gonna end with a song.
This is a song came out in 1966,a patriotic song.
It was co-written and performedby Barry Sadler in the style of
a ballad.
This is about the United StatesArmy Special Forces, one of the
few popular songs in the VietnamWar era to cast the military in
(25:54):
a positive light.
Imagine that.
Casting our soldiers in apositive light.
How remarkable.
Song became a major hit inJanuary of 66, went to number
one for five weeks on theBillboard Hot 100.
It was ranked number one on thechart's most successful songs of
1966.
(26:15):
Number one.
And there was a lot of big songsin 1966.
I get three right off, think ofthree right off the top of my
head.
Hey, the Georgie Girl,Winchester Cathedral, and um
free.
Anyhow.
It was a crossover hit.
Went to number one onBillboard's easy listening
(26:35):
chart, went to number two onBillboard's country survey
country survey, baby.
This song, the ballad of thegreen berets, was the most
commercially successful topicalsong of the Vietnam War era.
Here on Pat's Peeps 360.
SPEAKER_00 (26:59):
Fearless men who
jump and die.
Men who mean just what they say.
The brave men and women of theRainbow Rain.
Silver wing up on their chest isour men Well, I guess in this
(27:23):
case it's America's best men.
One hundred men will test today.
But to all of our veterans, butonly three when the green
berade.
Trained to live all nature'sland.
(27:44):
Trained in combat and a hand.
Men who fight by night and day.
Courage weak.
Silver wings are on the chest.
SPEAKER_04 (28:04):
Thank you for
listening.
SPEAKER_00 (28:06):
These are men.
SPEAKER_04 (28:07):
See you on the
radio.
God bless America.
SPEAKER_00 (28:11):
One hundred men will
test today.
But only three will be the rain.
