SPEAKER_05 (00:19):
Welcome back to the
Pat's Peeps Podcast.
Yeah, buddy.
Yes, yes indeed.
Here we are.
367 podcasts in to the Pat'sPeeps Podcast.
Happy Tuesday.
It is Thanksgiving Week 2025.
(00:40):
And wherever you are listening,I certainly do appreciate that.
As I look out my studio windowinto the beautiful foothills of
Northern California, the sun isshining where I live in my
mystery hut in the forest.
You know where I live up here?
It is one of the things that Ireally love is because let's say
(01:05):
you're in Sacramento.
Yesterday and I think today too,in the Sacramento area,
somewhere in the valley.
Doesn't have to be Sacramento, could be the surrounding areas,
whether it's Rio Linda or CitrusHeights or Carmite, wherever, El
Grove, Central California.
If you're down in the valley, down in the valley, Valley Solo.
(01:30):
Thank you.
Down in the valley, you get thefog.
And it's been foggy.
And so you don't even, even on asunny day, even when there's no
clouds, unless you want toconsider fog a cloud, you don't
see the sunshine.
So where I'm at, the sun isshining.
(01:52):
It's gorgeous.
So that's what I'm looking outmy studio window and seeing here
today on the 25th day ofNovember 2025.
By the way, I'm the host of thePat Walsh Radio Show, heard on
KFPK Radio in Sacramento, 93.1FM, 1530 AM, streaming live
everywhere on your free iHeartapp.
(02:15):
So are you enjoying yourThanksgiving week?
I hope you're thankful for somethings.
Um I uh would love it if youwould, and I'd be thankful if
you just you know check outpatspeeps.com and uh see what we
have to offer there.
Maybe there's something of yourliking.
Maybe perhaps you want to bewarm during this late fall and
(02:35):
then into winter with a nicecomfy Pat's Peeps hoodie, or
we've got some uh uh other Patmy the Pat Wall Show t-shirts,
hoodies, caps.
We have it doesn't everyoneseems like they have a merch
thing now, huh?
Uh but yeah, it's there that'svery nice.
(02:56):
If you grew up in Sacramento orreally around the world, you'll
know that Tower Records is a isa I mean it's iconic, and we
have a beautiful t-shirts andsweatshirts with Tower Records.
If you're looking for somethingcool like that for this time of
year, maybe for the holidays, what have you.
We've got the uh oh, Sam's offbrow.
(03:20):
Awesome stuff with the menu onthe back.
So please check that out if youwould uh if you would be so
kind.
Tonight on my radio show, ScottRobbins will be joining us on as
he does on Tuesday nights.
We'll be going through throughsome of the stories that I have
not been able to get to becauseof a variety of reasons.
(03:42):
Sometimes we get a lot of phonecalls on the show.
So that'll that's what we'regonna do tonight.
Including, let's see.
Oh, yeah, you got the high speedrail.
I don't know if I'm gonna dothat tonight.
That's kind of a littlepolitical thing.
I don't really feel like doingthat like on my radio show on
Thanksgiving week.
Maybe you saw this.
(04:03):
Well, I'll just do it here.
I I don't know why.
If I don't do it on my radioshow, but maybe I'll do it here.
I just think someone I just gota chuckle out of this, so we'll
look at it that way.
Because for those of you who aredefinitely gonna need this, you
know, Madeira to Gilroy.
So it's not really political,it's just a it's just hard to
(04:26):
fathom this is happening.
Despite the opposition fromMerced leaders, that's where a
little bit of the politics comesin there.
They had a California'shigh-speed rail authority.
See, this is an example of whatI have not been able to get to
over the last week.
I wanted to get to it, but hey,we get into a conversation and
that's what happens.
(04:46):
Some of these things getsidelined.
But this might even be two weeksago.
California's high-speed railauthority uh says they're gonna
uh try to change course.
They're gonna try to change thestate law so they can use the
money to rebuild more profitableroutes outside of the required
(05:06):
Merced to Bakersfieldconnection.
First of all, that was required.
Yeah, listen, Tony.
Here's the deal.
If we could just get ahigh-speed train somehow from
Merced to Bakersfield, I can'ttell you what that would do for
the state.
Well, that's right, Todd.
I was thinking the same thing.
(05:28):
Together we can make thishappen.
That's Tony and Todd, thank you.
I picked two names with a T.
Hi.
(05:49):
Now, I I mean no disrespect toMadeira.
I mean no respect to Gilroy.
I love both of those places.
But doing that would help himmore easily secure the private
investment to speed that projectalong.
For God's sakes, we really needto get on to that quickly.
(06:11):
Because you could imagine thechaos that occurs when people
are trying to go from Madeira toGilroy or vice versa.
You're trying to get the Gilroyto Madeira, you better have a
high-speed train.
I mean, think about that.
The original Merced toBakersfield.
Whew! So the current law calledSB 198 Capsia Agency spending it
(06:36):
$500 million on the work outsidethe Merced to Bakersfield route.
Now they first pitched droppingthe rule in August said it makes
us financial, it just makesfinancial sense to delay the
rail construction to Merced infavor of first connecting
Madeira to Gilroy.
Anyone with me on this?
You're right.
(06:56):
It just doesn't make any sense.
You got, first of all, Tony, again, you gotta connect the
Gilroy to the Madeira.
That's right, Todd.
The idea troubled the Mercedofficials and business owners
who say that you know what?
They've spent years planning forthis for a downtown station.
That's part of the main initialsegment there.
(07:24):
For this train.
The train's initial segment,Corey says the agency could
secure a partnership withprivate firms by the middle of
next year, but the investors arelikely to want to focus on rail
segments with greater ridershippredictions than
Mercedes-Bakersfield.
If you want innovation, theysaid, you want to generate
revenues out of the system, thenthey, the private sector, will
(07:47):
have to create ideas.
(08:18):
So you're on bad speech.
You must remember this Rock andSoul Diner, R O C and Soul S O L
Diner Sacramento, two for onedinners, underlining dinners
(08:40):
downtown Sacramento.
If you go in there and you say,Pat's peeps for dinner, you will
receive two for one dinners.
Isn't that spiffy?
Let's see.
They are at 1825 10th Street inSacramento.
(09:01):
You can call them even.
Call them and say, I'd like tomake dinner reservations.
I don't know if they requiredinner reservations.
I think you could probably justwalk in there.
But here's their phone number.
They're a Pat Speeps business.
916-848-0040.
916-848-0040.
(09:24):
And again, their address is 182510th Street in Sacramento.
So check that out for yourself.
I think you'll be very, veryhappy to do that.
Alright.
So with that in mind, wecontinue on wishing you a happy
(09:45):
Thanksgiving week to you and toyour family.
SPEAKER_10 (09:56):
Karen, honey, how
was school today?
SPEAKER_04 (10:02):

Larson still sick?
No, he's still sick.
SPEAKER_10 (10:13):
I had a funny thing
happen today at work.
When I left the office, I hadtrouble unlocking my car.
Then I realized I had the wrongset of keys.
SPEAKER_04 (10:24):
Did somebody take
your keys?
SPEAKER_10 (10:25):
Can I finish the
story?
Turns out that I hadaccidentally taken Jeff
Peabody's keys and he had takenmine.
We really had a long laugh.
SPEAKER_04 (10:45):
I thought that's who
took them.
SPEAKER_10 (10:47):
Will you ever let me
finish a damn story?
SPEAKER_04 (10:50):
I just assume that
Jeff.
SPEAKER_10 (10:51):
I would love to
finish one damn story.
You don't talk to me like that.
You don't talk to me like that.
I am a division manager.
That is very important.
SPEAKER_04 (11:02):
Do not raise it.
SPEAKER_10 (11:03):
Very important.
SPEAKER_03 (11:05):
You don't talk to me
like that! People are scared of
me! Why would anyone be scaredof you?
I hate you, big fat turd! Iguess Paula is really excited
about the sleepover tomorrownight.
(11:25):
Shut up, you drunken witch.
SPEAKER_04 (11:47):
It's not ready until
Thursday.
SPEAKER_10 (11:50):
I thought you said
it'd be ready today.
SPEAKER_04 (11:52):
No, it's going to be
ready Thursday.
SPEAKER_10 (11:56):
Well, you know I
have that meeting tomorrow.
SPEAKER_04 (11:58):
Well, I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_10 (12:00):
I wish you weren't a
liar.
SPEAKER_03 (12:04):
I didn't lie, Ted.
SPEAKER_10 (12:07):
I just wish you
weren't a liar.
SPEAKER_03 (12:08):
I wish you wouldn't
call me a liar.
SPEAKER_10 (12:10):
Don't raise your
voice at me.
SPEAKER_03 (12:11):
I am not raising my
voice.
SPEAKER_10 (12:13):
You do not talk to
me like that.
You do not talk to me like that.
SPEAKER_04 (12:41):
I wish you were
dead.
SPEAKER_10 (12:54):
I'm gonna take the
car into the shop tomorrow.
SPEAKER_03 (12:57):
You mean you're lame
dog stratus?
SPEAKER_10 (12:59):
You don't talk about
my car this week.
SPEAKER_11 (13:02):
I drive! I drive it!
I drive a dog stratus!
SPEAKER_00 (13:51):
Back in LA every
year, around Thanksgiving,
there's this uh billboard thatPETA puts up every year.
You know, PETA, they don't wantyou to eat meat and stuff like
that.
And it's around Thanksgiving,it's got a picture of a dog on
it.
Says you wouldn't eat your dog,so why would you eat a turkey?
I was like, okay, pretty goodpoint.
SPEAKER_01 (14:11):
So I went home and I
ate my dog outside here at the
James Brown Turkey Giveaway.
So uh this is happening rightnow over at May Park.
I don't want everybody to gorushing over there, though.
There was a registration processhere over the last couple of
(14:33):
weekends, so uh you did have topre-register for this.
But this is the result now.
Here we are uh 8 20 in themorning on Monday of
Thanksgiving week, and peopleare out there getting their
turkeys.
We talked with James Brown'sdaughter, Deanna, uh a week or
two, maybe two weeks ago now.
Uh she said, you know, herfather, James Brown, knew what
(14:54):
it was like to grow up uh inpoverty and in need and not
having things like this for theholidays.
So uh this is their opportunityas the James Brown Family
Foundation to now give back anddo a little bit of good here for
the for the community turkeythey had at Wilson Farms.
SPEAKER_08 (15:30):
26 pounds.
SPEAKER_03 (15:31):
It's great, Dad.
It's too bad Patty couldn't bewith us this Thanksgiving,
though.
Oh, I know.
SPEAKER_02 (15:36):
Now I'm gonna cry.
Mom.
That's her.
SPEAKER_08 (15:42):
Hello?
Oh, hello, Patty.
Oh no, no, it's just your motherand me and your sister so far.
SPEAKER_02 (15:50):
Tell her we love her
and we missed her.
SPEAKER_08 (15:52):
Your mom says she
loves and misses you.
SPEAKER_02 (15:54):
Ask her if she got
the dish towels I sent.
SPEAKER_08 (15:56):
Did you get the dish
towels your mom sent?
SPEAKER_02 (15:57):
Oh, you know, tell
her I couldn't get the ones to
match the hot pepper motif, so Igot the pineapples.
And ask her if those go with thedish towels that Helen sent last
year.
SPEAKER_08 (16:04):
Okay, she says she
couldn't get the one uh oh for
crying out loud, Fran, this is atoll call.
SPEAKER_02 (16:10):
Fine, mister, I'll
be setting the table.
SPEAKER_08 (16:12):
What's that?
Okay, Sandy, she wants to talkto you.
SPEAKER_03 (16:16):
Ooh, I can't come to
the phone right now, Dad.
SPEAKER_08 (16:18):
She can't come to
the phone right now.
She had a date with that drummerlast night, she said.
SPEAKER_03 (16:25):
Dry spell over, huh?
SPEAKER_08 (16:26):
Dry spells over,
huh?
In a big way.
SPEAKER_03 (16:32):
Hi, the drummer, a
cute one.
SPEAKER_08 (16:34):
Was he cute?
Cuter than Dave Grohl with greathands, she said.
SPEAKER_03 (16:40):
Oh yeah?
Long fingers?
SPEAKER_08 (16:42):
Long fingers, Patty?
Holy smokes.
The longest she's ever seen witha size size 13 feet.
Wow.
Yeah, you tell him that I know agreat store where you can get
hard-to-find shoes.
I'm a ten and a half extra wide.
Like imagine how hard a time Ihave stuffing that into one
(17:05):
what's that?
SPEAKER_07 (17:10):
Can't stuff this.
Can't stuff this.
Can't stuff this.
You know your down.
(17:42):
Your phone boy.
SPEAKER_05 (17:43):
Can't stuff this.
Meanwhile, on Thanksgiving Day,if you're looking for football,
here's a reminder.
You got not one, not two, butyes, three games on Thanksgiving
Day.
So these three games are gonnabe broadcast on different
networks, Fox, CBS, and NBC,featuring matchups with the
Green Bay Packers, DetroitLions, Kansas City Chiefs,
(18:08):
Dallas Cowboys, CincinnatiBengals, and the Baltimore
Ravens.
The first game on Thanksgivingwill be the Green Bay Packers
versus the Detroit Lions.
That is going to be a 10 a.m.
start here, Pacific time.
That game is going to be on Fox.
Um then game two.
You have the Kansas City Chiefscoming off of their win last
(18:29):
week against the IndianapolisColts, taking on the Dallas
Cowboys, who came off of theirwin against uh the comeback win
over the Philadelphia Eagles.
And that game begins at 1.30Pacific.
By the way, just and I know Italked about this yesterday a
little bit, but the Packerscoming off of a win.
They beat the Minnesota Vikings, who were just very
(18:52):
disappointing.
And then the Lions pulled oneout at the end, too, as they
were able to come back and beatthe Giants.
Then in the third game, you havethe Cincinnati Bengals.
Joe Burrow will be back atquarterback, replacing Joe
Flacco, the veteran.
Both are veterans now, butFlacco's been around a long time
(19:14):
against the suddenly healthier, surging, I guess, at least
win-wise.
Still not the slickest team onthe field, but the Baltimore
Ravens, that game's going to beon NBC.
That Kansas City Kansas CityDallas game will be on CBS.
So if you're a big football fan, hey, there you go.
(19:35):
Last night on Monday NightFootball, the 49ers were in
action taking on the Panthers.
And even though the 49ers didtry to give this game away, they
still prevailed in this game bya score of 20 to 9.
As the 49ers stay in the mix.
They overcame three Brock Purdyinterceptions to beat the
(19:58):
Panthers in a dis defensive tiltat uh at Levi Stadium, home of
this year's Super Bowl.
Five turnovers in this game.
But somehow the 49ers did comeout on top despite Purdy
throwing three interceptions.
Three interceptions in the firsthalf.
(20:21):
Ooh, that is rough.
You know, if you pick off theball three times in the first
half, you should probably mostlikely win that game.
You know, you have to do producewhen you pick it up.
And a couple of those were downdeep into San Francisco
(20:42):
territory near the goal line.
You know, they were in the redzone.
If I saw that right, I was doingmy show at the time.
But uh Purdy uh threw this inthe first half, finished the
night 23 at 32, touchdown, threeuh, like I said, three
interceptions.
Christian McCaffrey continues toroll.
He was a catalyst for SanFrancisco.
10240 scrimmage 142 scrimmageyards.
(21:06):
He had a touchdown, a rushingtouchdown in this one.
George Kittle, six catches for78 yards in the victory.
Carolina's offense is inept atbest.
They never ever got on track.
230 total yards from scrimmage.
Bryce Young, this youngquarterback.
(21:29):
I mean, he looks very young.
He was certainly erratic.
I mean, 18 to 29 passes, 169yards, eh.
Touchdown, a couple of costlyinterceptions himself.
Yeah, that was a messy, messygame that someone had to win.
San Francisco now, 8-4 in theyear, Carolina 6-6.
(21:50):
Here's the weird thing about it.
Yeah, I mean, it was a messygame.
I'm sorry, your quarterbackthrows three interceptions, you
got some work to do.
But you're winning.
And that's eight and four.
San Francisco is more in the mixthan most people think.
Again, it would not surprise meto see them in the playoffs and
(22:12):
to be able to beat some teamsthat are going to be in the
playoffs.
My team, but anyhow.
So congratulations to the 49erslast night on a much needed win.
As I finish the show heretonight, I pulled this rare
record from my rare 45collection today.
(22:35):
And this song, I remember whenthis was on the radio all the
time.
Same song, both sides.
Let me see.
You know, it's in, I'm not gonnasay it's in stellar uh mint
condition, but it's in reallygood condition.
It just looks like a record.
It got played numerous times, put back in the sleeve, but is
still in excellent condition.
(22:55):
This is on Big Tree Records.
White label stereo, not forsale, but again, because again,
this is a record.
I mean, this is a DJ promorecord.
Says right there, promotioncopy, not for sale.
Big Tree Records.
Got a little star on it.
Now on the flip side, it doeshave a radio sticker, just like
(23:17):
an orange dot sticker.
It's been on there since 1972.
September 7th, 1972, to beexact, as I'm just now seeing
the radio station stamp, likethey use the stamp thing to
stamp the label, label.
Uh, and then there's anotherorange sticker on there that
says 38.
(23:38):
So it's been in this recordsleeve since 1972.
Like I say, I remember thisbeing on the radio all the time.
Song by an Americansinger-songwriter with one name.
Let's see if you can guess whoit is.
One name.
Released in September 72.
See, there that's the stickerright there.
(23:59):
It was the second single fromhis second album of a simple
man.
This was this artist's highestcharting hit on the Billboard
Hot 100.
It spent two weeks there at uhnumber two in November.
Uh the single was the second offour of his songs to hit number
one on the easy listening chart.
It had a one-week stay at thattop spot, December of '72, and
(24:23):
it became a gold record.
When it was released in theUnited Kingdom in 72, it failed
to reach the UK singles chart.
However, a re-release of thesingle in 74, same song on the
UK record label, peaked atnumber five.
The song also topped the musiccharts in at least seven
nations, including Australia,Canada.
(24:45):
In Australia, two weeks at thetop, Canada, one week.
Germany, it spent 13 weeks atthe top from uh in from 1973 to
1974.
Yeah, man, this was Hong Kong.
It went to number one, NewZealand, number one, Singapore
number one, South Africa,Switzerland, like I mentioned,
(25:08):
the US, Zimbabwe.
This song was number one inZimbabwe, Austria, number five
in Denmark, number seven inIreland, number eight in Italy,
Malaysia.
It was it went to six, numberseven in Mexico.
Man, you talk about a recordthat everyone seemed to love
(25:30):
this.
Well, why not I why not play it?
It's the same song on bothsides.
From 1972, this is a song byLobo.
It's called I Love You To WantMe.
Pat's Peeps 367.
SPEAKER_09 (25:48):
When I saw you
standing there about fellow
matching.
And when you moved your mouth tospeak, I felt the blood go to my
(26:11):
feet.
Now it took time for me to know.
What you tried so not to showsomething in my soul just cry I
(26:35):
see the one in your blue eye.
I love you the one.
The way that I want you The waythat it should be the one you
(26:59):
want you.
SPEAKER_05 (27:03):
Of course I always
have to say it, I don't own this
music.
SPEAKER_09 (27:07):
You told yourself
years ago.
SPEAKER_05 (27:10):
It's critiquing the
music, right?
Exposing the music, educatingabout the music.
Always have to say that.
SPEAKER_09 (27:20):
The obligation that
you made for the time that they
gave.
SPEAKER_05 (27:29):
Thank you for
listening to my podcast.
Hope you'll listen to my showtonight.
Seven to ten p.m.
There's no football games on, sojoin me.
(27:50):
Happy Tuesday, we'll see you onthe radio.
