Speaker 1 (00:05):
What's up, y'all?
We are back.
We're back for another episodeof the Peace and Prosperity
Podcast.
I'm your host, jason Phillips, licensed therapist, confidence
expert, and today we are talkingabout one of the more popular
topics.
Y'all know, sometimes topicsseems to come in waves, like
(00:25):
sometimes self-care is somethingthat's trending and really
popular, or burnout, but rightnow we're going to dive into the
topic of resilience.
This is something that I'vebeen asked to speak on probably
like four times this year alone,and we're only I mean, I don't
know when this will be released, but we're only in February
right now.
(00:45):
So it's coming up more and moreoften.
Why is it coming up?
Because you're being asked todo more and more with less and
less.
And I know you're like yeah, this is me, my job is asking me
to do more, my family'srequiring more of me and I'm
thinking how much more can Igive?
So how much more do you trulyhave to give to these people
(01:10):
that are demanding so much fromyou?
And you know, when they ask you, they want you to show up and
show out.
They're not asking you just tocheck a box or, you know, fill a
position.
They're asking you because theywant your excellence, your zone
of genius, your brilliance, your personality, and in order
to do that, it takes a lot ofeffort.
(01:31):
So let's get into.
How do you remain resilient andstill show up with all of these
demands and people asking youto do this and asking you to do
that?
The first thing I want you todo is you have to take a break.
Now, this may seem verycounterintuitive for resilience,
(01:51):
because when you think aboutthe definition of resilience, it
means to be able to overcome,to get through adversity, to
bounce back.
But I'm saying, if you want toremain resilient, you have to
slow down and take a break.
This means taking the time out.
If anybody has watched sportsI'm sure you've watched some
(02:11):
sport they go and sometimes theygo into overtime, meaning the
regular game has stopped.
But now we have to keep goingin order to win and conquer, to
succeed.
But don't you think there'ssome timeouts along the way and
the coaches and the teams whouse their timeouts strategically
they do a better job atremaining resilient.
(02:34):
Now y'all know or, if you don'tknow, you've been listening
Allen Iverson is one of myfavorite basketball players and
he had a lot of energy and heloved.
He could play 48 minutes if thecoach allowed him, but they
wouldn't let him do that.
I mean, some games he did, theyneeded him to, but they would
take him out.
They would take him out becausein order for him to perform at
(02:55):
that high level and to remainresilient you know, with a small
frame, 160, 65 pounds, going upagainst these bigger guys he
had to get his rest so for youto keep delivering at that high
level.
You're in your job, you're inyour family, you're working and
going hard, but I want you toalso prioritize your wellness,
(03:20):
your mental health and yourphysical health, and take a
break.
That's going to help you winnot only the regular game, but
if you are asked to go intoovertime and overdrive, you'll
be able to do it.
Show up, show out easilybecause you've prioritized rest
along the way.
Hey, peace and prosperityfamily.
I want to take a moment to talkabout something vital for all
(03:43):
organizations employee wellness.
I focus on tackling issues suchas low morale, burnout and
helping teams thrive byimproving their employee
wellness.
Here's what some of the pastorganizations have shared about
their experiences.

Now back to the episode.
(04:55):
The second thing I want you todo is lean into loving yourself
more.
So this means giving yourselfthe grace, the effort, the
maintenance, the pampering.
All of that stuff matters too, because now when you show up,
you're showing up, you'relooking good, you're feeling
good, your swag is there.
(05:15):
So when somebody asks you to domore with less, you can say
gladly I'll do it, not becauseyou feel compelled to, but
because you've taken so muchgood care of you.
Whatever they do for you isjust extra, but this means you
love yourself.
One of my boys he is consistentwith getting a manicure and a
(05:37):
pedicure, and when I told him Ihad been slipping on getting
mine he was like, hey, man, jay,you tripping, because I make
sure I prioritize that.
I think he goes either monthlyI don't think it's biweekly but
the point is he gets it done.
So when he's putting in extrahours or doing other things for
the fam.
He's already prioritizedhimself and he's loved himself
(05:59):
to a great level and he's pouredinto himself.
So he's not looking for otherpeople to make deposits into him
that he can make into him.
I hope you're catching it,because we break when we're
asked to be more resilient.
Well, we haven't taken care ofourselves.
We're looking for the externalvalidation.
We're looking for the externalvalidation.
(06:19):
We're looking for the externalsupport when it's got to start
at home.
So y'all peeping it out.
First thing I want you to do istake a break.
Second thing I want you to dois love yourself.
The third thing I want you todo is value yourself.
This means knowing your worth, not doing just just to do it,
(06:41):
just because somebody asked youto do it.
But you do it and you ask foryour worth.
Like if you're asking me to toperform this duty, how are you
compensating me?
Or you're asking me to lend ahelping hand.
Are you appreciative?
Or are you asking me becauseyou know I've said yes time and
time again and essentially nowit's starting to look like
(07:02):
you're using me.
You're not going to be able tosustain this level of resilience
.
If you're operating out ofguilt, you're helping everybody
else, you have no boundaries andyou don't value you.
So let's recap it you won.
I want you to make sure you doan excellent job of taking a
(07:23):
break.
Prioritize your self-care.
Secondly, prioritize lovingyourself.
Third, know your value, setyour value, have standards for
who you are.
You do those things, beingresilient.
It's going to be a piece ofcake for you.
All right, y'all, as always, beblessed Peace.
(07:45):

functioning anxiety, don't beatyourself up about it.
