What if the spaces we inhabit tell the story of who we've become? Join us on a cherished nostalgic journey as we recount the transformation of personal sanctuaries from bare garages with stools and space heaters to luxurious man caves. These spaces were more than just homes; they were vibrant social hubs where Big Kim's warmth and welcoming spirit turned gatherings into unforgettable events. The evolution of these personal retreats highlights the importance of carving out a sanctuary for reflection and relaxation, a sentiment shared with partners who help transform houses into homes.

Experience the art of celebration where every gathering is a tapestry of laughter, indulgence, and creativity. From family reunions with unexpected drinking partners to color-themed parties complete with jello shots, these tales capture the essence of joyful camaraderie. Revel in the creative flair of party planning, as we describe vibrant designs that turn spaces into festive wonderlands. This is a tribute to those who master the craft of bringing people together, crafting memories that linger long after the music fades.

Uncover the magic of our holiday cabin adventures in Hocking Hills, where unique accommodations become the backdrop for cherished memories. Imagine the warmth of bonfires, the thrill of children's outdoor escapades, and the shared joys of painting and karaoke, all infused with heartfelt gratitude and prayer. Our journey reflects on balancing generosity with genuine relationships, and humorously explores the idea of offering jingles and counseling to those in need. As we express thanks for past gatherings, we eagerly anticipate future adventures, cherishing the connections we've built and the memories we've created together.

This episode explores the significance of personal spaces and their impact on our memories, friendships, and connections. Through engaging anecdotes, the hosts discuss the evolution of their homes from simple beginnings to vibrant spaces where laughter, love, and nostalgia flourish.

you get to see some of mepromote the podcast.

(00:42):
You get to see the lounge andit made me just reminisce the
progression of my man caves haveyou ever posted the
transformation?

Speaker 2 (00:51):
you're going to have to post a transformation of what
it looked like when you was outhere in the trenches to what it
look like now in the deluxeparking in the sky and I
definitely got a video of youdoing ballet dance out there.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
It was bad.

Speaker 1 (01:12):
Do you know when?
In the movie New Jack City, when they went in there and
found Pookie it felt like thatout there.

Speaker 3 (01:23):
It felt like that.

Speaker 1 (01:24):
You had concrete walls, literally it looked like
I was a squatter, literally, cause all I had was first.
All I had was those threebenches, those three like stools
.
I had, I think, an ottoman, oneof the old ottomans.

(01:45):
We got from Big Lots as welltoo.
Fuck that up.
Rip Big Lots.

Speaker 3 (01:51):
I was about to say shout out to Big.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Lots.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
I was about to say y'all stuff the stage but rental
properties.
But I wouldn't suggest a personhave it long term.
But all I had was those threestools I had like an ottoman.
Then I had a space heater andI'm out here smoking.
So I just look fiend outBecause in the wintertime it's

(02:15):
just cold.
In the summertime you open thegarage door, you just look
abandoned.
It's like, oh, this guy justlooks like smoke.

Speaker 3 (02:23):
I swear I got a video of you twirling this and that
summer worker, uh song, Iremember that I remember that I
don't want to do this.

Speaker 1 (02:39):
Hey, that's when I lived in the basement on 71st I
had the man cave down in thebasement on 71st, down in the

(03:01):
basement on 71st and I had thecouch and lunch down there, it
was definitely a setup.
I had the end tables.
It was definitely a setup I hadthe TV stand with the TV, had a
bathroom down there.
I had a deep freezer, so I hada cheese and a hot plate in the

(03:22):
basement.
I had a hot plate in thebasement.
I just heat up beans and beansand it literally had a cheese
and a hot plate in the basement.
I had a hot plate in thebasement, I just heat up beans.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
And it literally had a door on the room.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Yep.
So the bedroom was like had awall set up that you can fit
only like a twin size bed inthere, with a nightstand in
standing, like a little bit itwas.
It was just enough, like it wasprobably like a prison cell.
It was all you needed.
But that was my.
That was the man came All myboys and my homies, they had
come through and we'd kick it.

(03:52):
You had you had you had tobless the house, cause that was
Ms Kim.
Big Kim was what they calledher.
You had to bless the house.
She wasn't about to let youcome in there, not greet her,
not coming in with a bottle youcan't come empty-handed, period,
that's the vague way to say.
It can't come empty-handed.

(04:14):
So even that was said for myfriends, all my siblings,
friends, everybody.
You had to come in there andgreet the original Queen, big
Kim.
But that was the setup man, wewould kick you down there.

(04:35):
But once I moved out and I hadgot my own spot, now that's the
whole med cave.
It just got larger.
Now I have my apartment, man, that's where you know.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Man, when I got just got larger.
Now you know, I had myapartment, man, that's where.

Speaker 1 (04:51):
You know, man, when I got in trouble, got a whooping.
It was like, see, that's whereyou got to hang on.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Yeah, it was a good escape.
And went down the stairs andwas gone.

Speaker 1 (04:59):
Oh you talking about the time where mommy whooped the
tree.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Oh the time where?

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Because I left the it at that time.
So you was like take me withyou.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
I remember that we, like we out of here, I kept
apologizing, I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (05:14):
every time you meet my mom, it's at the hospital.

Speaker 2 (05:18):
That was the second time I seen your mom.
The second time was atChristmas, when we were treating
.

Speaker 1 (05:27):
I'm like you can take all the motherfucking gifts out
of there for me too.

Speaker 3 (05:29):
I'm like my mama gave us.
I was working hard with mylittle chick.

Speaker 1 (05:38):
Yeah, but that nostalgic moment.
I remember that man.
My man Kay became my apartment.
I remember that man.
But we my man cave became myapartment and I loved having
that little space on my own.
So now, when I got together ina serious relationship, I got to
understand why men would havethat man cave.

(05:59):
You could have a house.
I just want this little area.
I just want a little corner, mylittle room, a little spot, a
little basement.
I don't need much, we don'tneed much.
You can have a house.
I just want this little area.
I just want a little corner, mylittle room, a little spot, a
little basement.
I don't need much.
I don't need much you can.
This is why I value having apartner who makes a house a home
.
Okay, freedom speakers, I'mgoing to go through my archives
and find some pictures of how myman cave now in line 187,

(06:22):
started out.
It looked like a rehab that gotbotched.
It looked like Pookie was inhere smoking.
It came a long way and I wentfrom rehabbing some stuff and
second-handing some stuff toputting it all the way together
where it's livable andcomfortable.
You could pay me a fee to be inthis money.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Call me now.
You can get a deal now for me,for me.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
But I made it very comfortable for myself, for my
guests, for the family andfriends that come and kick it.
That's always been the vibe, but it ain't always been like
this man.
So, Queen, give me a memorythat you might have of kicking
it in Lounge 87.
Or just something you rememberabout Lounge 87.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
It was definitely, I want to say, if it was Christmas
or I think trap karaoke and wewas literally running in and out
of the house Back and forth, literally Taking shots of that

(07:37):
purpose, that purpose that yoursister was mixing up when I went
to mix it.
They ain't want no more we wasmixing up when I went to mix it.
They ain't want no more.
We was you making it, you, youget some fake.
Yeah, that's what.

(07:57):
I'm saying, I guess I shouldhave told them it was fake,
cause they ain't want it from methey ain't want it from me.

Speaker 2 (08:03):
We said fake.
We don't say find out it wasfake.
No, they ain't want it from me.
They ain't want it from me.
They ain't want it from me.
We don't say find out, it wasfake.

Speaker 1 (08:08):
No, we try to get real hot.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Yeah, you tell somebody, yeah, this is
something.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
But we was told down from that though.

Speaker 3 (08:19):
But we were drinking a little bit too.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
We was drinking smoking.
I think some people would popsome edibles.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Yeah, we was doing it all Like, come on, who don't
love great stuff?

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Niggas howl food, but it was a good time.

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Yeah, we literally like that was really like my
first time really running in andout, like how the kids be
running around the house andstuff yeah running in and out
garage, back in jumping on themic like literally that's what

(09:00):
we're doing the karaoke.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
Well, I just De'Aja with her country song hey keep
it.

Speaker 1 (09:07):
Hey freedom speakers, I just I gotta plug me in.
That party was produced by me.
Okay, I produced that party.
I felt like Diddy minus thebaby boy.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
And the orgies.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
That's another.
That's another.

Speaker 3 (09:26):
Onlyfans back day we had a ball like we was eating
good, drinking good, you know, smoking better, running in and
out doing songs like having aball.
So that was like one for sure.

(09:48):
But another one, though, iswhen we was in here taking them
shots with that pickle juice andthat hot sauce.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
We was in.

Speaker 3 (09:59):
We drank a whole fifth of that Terra Mana, like
it was the black bottle.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Yeah, and with no hangover.

Speaker 3 (10:10):
I think it was like a nail or something.
It was something and man, wewas tearing it up with pickle
juice and hot sauce.

Speaker 1 (10:19):
And it sounds like a unique combination, but it
actually was my tea time.

Speaker 2 (10:26):
I'm telling you it was so smooth like you legit
like could keep drinking itbecause it was like it was so
smooth it was actually nice.

Speaker 3 (10:36):
It was extremely smooth.
I learned that working at thebar.
That's when my uncle was dumpydumpy man At that time.

Speaker 1 (10:42):
Oh, that party uncle was sumpty dumpty at that time.

Speaker 2 (10:43):

My mama was in here kicking it.
She was dancing it Go mama, gomama.

Speaker 1 (11:44):
I remember was she really was lit.

Speaker 3 (11:46):
she was lit before everybody but I think, if I'm
not to say it was the same partywhen I was in that room, like a
little like yeah, go tell mydad, he's just taking a nap,
he's gonna sleep some of thatoff.

Speaker 1 (12:01):
Yeah, leave him alone , he's at a christmas party.

Speaker 2 (12:12):
Now, that was a cool party, though she uh shared your
story she didn't share yourperspective, tell us from your

If you've been listening tothis, I just told you my man
cave looked like it was abotched job on a rehab.
If I had to live in this bighouse by myself, it wouldn't be
nothing in here but a TV, acouch, some Reese's cut papers

Nothing in here but a TV a couch, some Reese's Cup papers Should

(17:09):
it just be that?
And Wi-Fi, and my dogs and mypets.

But I love the creativity andthe style and character that she
brings to a home.
That's what I call making ahouse a home.
It wouldn't be shit in thisplace if I hadn't designed it.
She brings that touch and Ilove that.

Speaker 2 (18:58):
Chipotle party.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Chipotle was her thing had it served catered, but

birthday, because that was thefirst theme party.
That was a big party.
Everybody came dressed up thewhole.

(20:51):

But I got to see I got to sitback here and kick it while I'm

(21:12):
getting drunk with my auntie.
I'm like man.
I really did clean thismotherfucker up, and it made me
care about the backyard just alittle bit more, made me say I
need to save my money, get thefood set up, get that right.
We're supposed to have a poolparty.
We're going to have that in2025, though I got my dollars
right to do it now.

Speaker 3 (21:31):
Get the pro white boys out here and hook my stuff
up.

Speaker 1 (21:35):
But that was my favorite.
One of people came through.
We got a chance to see howlarge the house really is.
Kids got their own side of thehome.
They can go in and out of KJ'sroom to the backyard doing their
own thing.
We still got the whole patioset for us over for the adults.
Even just with that, we got ourown side of the patio over by

(21:57):
just or Vanessa and I room.
But I never realized how largeand how like you have a large
home for family, for events, everybody not crammed on top of
each other.
Everybody get to be somewhere.
Some people get to be out in thelounge at the 7.
Some people like to kick it inthe kitchen.
Some of the people who only gotone or two get-ups in them and

(22:18):
they need they hang out in theliving room on the next couch.
You know what I'm saying?
The kids Get on up.
Kd got his own wing.

Py kids.
Taylor got his own wing, tyrellgot his own wing, we got our
own.

be full of fun and laughter andeverybody kicking it.
Everybody got their part andsection.
Drinkers in the kitchen, smokers in the lounge that makes
me feel full.
And when we had the trapkaraoke your birthday, that's

Speaker 3 (23:06):
When I say that was that Mr Kent said the fun's up
here.
When I say that was, that waslike some of the best parties, I
know for sure.
But we had a good Christmas onethough, too.

Speaker 1 (23:18):
Now, which one man, vanessa always throw a good one.

Speaker 3 (23:22):

Speaker 3 (23:44):

This was the one where I'mtrying to think, because it was
like I was Santa and I got tiedup.
No, no, no, no.
This was the one where, like,I'm trying to think, because it
was like we was playing thegames where you had, like the
tree and we would put our handin it and get it.

Speaker 2 (23:58):
We had all the gifts and stuff and B had came to that
one.

We are the couple that likes tothrow the parties, likes to
host.
You know very good, you knowpart of our service.

(24:35):
I think that shows in ourpersonality Mi casa es su casa
Our shit, your shit.
So that means you fuck our shitup.
Ah, fuck you.
You're respectful, but you know, we, we enjoy to have that man.
I feel like that's the thereason to have a large home.

(24:56):
Have a family helps and stufflike that.
So when we have those events,it make it all it.
It made me want a bigger house.
Yeah, maybe one of me like man.
We need to host more parties.
We need to do more things.
We need to just hey, nigga, invite nigga.

Speaker 3 (25:10):
I mean it straight make you be like what you doing
tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (25:13):
Yeah, what y'all doing tomorrow?
We out on the patio cooking inthe back.

Speaker 2 (25:17):
Grilling some meat, I get it, I get it.
You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (25:25):
But they just enjoying the company man, the
good surrounding, good scenery, all of that man.
So Johnson's Oasis is what wecall the home, most definitely
the backyard of Johnson's Oasis.
That's my little island.
If you ever see me on socialmedia, that's my little island.
That's my first slice ofsanctuary, my first AI.

(25:50):
That's a part of Lounge 87, butthat's the backyard.
The front yard is the patio.
That's our front.
Then we got the backyard butthat's the deck, back deck.
But I will go outside and be onthe back patio thinking,
meditating, looking at the sky, just like looking at that

(26:14):
scenery.
I got like almost a half courtbasketball court back door, or
at least a three point line, alittle more basketball court.
I just shoot around, pretend Istill got it, like Mike, make me
like Mike.
But just being outside and justlike I could put three little

(26:35):
container homes back here.
I could rip this shit out, butjust I love being outside.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
I said I used to see on the freeway the ones you pick
up.

Speaker 1 (26:46):
Container homes Are they what those are called?
Yeah, they got like containerhomes.

Speaker 3 (26:50):
No, they look like little mini homes.
Are they tiny houses Basically?

Speaker 1 (26:56):
I'm a huge HGTV fan.
They're like tiny houses now.

Speaker 3 (26:59):
Yeah, they're so funny to me.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
I think they fly.
If we were a more outdoorsyfamily, I feel like we could
live in one of those.
I feel like, yeah, we can gohome, come back and live in
there mom got our spot, cairogot his cage, he got his and we
really just sleep in there, cook, but we go on every day.
I could do a tiny home, especially if we was outdoors,

(27:23):
like we outdoors.
Outdoors, you ain't at home.
You fishing, you hunting, youhiking, riding bikes, you out
with your friends shooting guns, you just outdoorsy.
Yeah, yeah, you come home andgo to bed.
Let's go.
Come home, go to bed, yeah, butcamping in those lately, yeah,

(27:44):
I, that's.
That's a real big mental thingfor me, being able to have that.
That's freedom.
Speakers, if you have not campedinto like a cabin or tiny home
or container home, something alittle different than where you
normally would, if you lived ina house or an apartment or
things like that, you would love, love, love going to different

(28:04):
places in Hocking Hills, whichwe prefer, those campgrounds
down there.
They have container homes, theyhave tiny homes, they got
lodges, they got cabins, theygot resorts, they got places you
can park your RV, which is thenext.
I want to rent an RV and justgo to a few camping grounds, go
out there, hunt, shoot fish, politic with the people,

(28:27):
campfire, kumbaya, bear shit inthe woods type thing.
I want to be the bear shit, Iwant that.
But different things from justthe norm of living in your house
or coming home back and forthevery day.
But that stuff helps me reset.
You know what I'm saying but, freedom speakers.
if you have not experienced it,I suggest you experience it,

(28:53):
which takes me to another timethat we all were together and it
was a really good time.
It was when we had Christmas inthe cabins of Hockey Heroes
First destination Christmas,first destination Christmas.

(29:14):
That one touched me a lot too.
We tried to make it.
I don't know if people reallycaught the theme.
I didn't press a theme, butmentally to me the theme was
Home Alone.
So how everybody loaded up inthe van and went to the airport
and they're about to go on thetrip, but it's kind of the feel

(29:36):
I wanted to give like, hey, Iused the company van, do
everybody in there?
We driving all the way downthere, which was unsafe.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
We had to turn around on that road.

Speaker 2 (29:51):
We packed.

Speaker 3 (29:54):
Hell yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:56):
Packed that motherfucker.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
People, it was like 11 to 12 people.
And then we had because it wasa 15 passenger, but we took the
rear seat out so that, no, therear seat stayed in, but we
packed bags and luggage andstuff all back there.
People got luggage and stuffunder the seats.
I'm like it's just fuckingdangerous.

Speaker 3 (30:16):
We had food and everything because yeah, I think
we should have been bringingpajamas, a sweater, you know
body stuff and food.
That's all we should bebringing, because you ain't
about to go to work Some.

hours.

Speaker 3 (30:47):

trenches in the Hocking HillsOhio area camping which I love
going down.

getting to have one of his firstroad trips that year of maybe
off the oxygen.
Now we can take you into theworld, but just like we need to
explore and do more, all of that, all of that.
But I wanted it to have thehome alone, feel Macaulay Culkin
and everybody got on the van, everybody caught in this big ass

(31:56):
house and we was kicking it.
You don't know what the niggaswho running the show do, but
they can afford for everybody togo.
