(00:00):
Hello, this is a PrivateInvestigator Experience podcast
and I'm your host, Phil Littleon this channel.
I talk about cases that I haveworked on over the last 50
years, and then I look back evenfurther to our founding in 1922.
For a lot of cases.
I think that I have probablyhave seen about every type of
case or problem someone couldfind themselves in.
(00:24):
Part of my thought process thathas developed over all these
years is that if I haveinformation that I have learned
in my work that would helpsociety, I should share it.
But would you help me by liking, sharing, and subscribing to help
build a channel so more peoplecan hear these reports?
I've been thinking a lot aboutlife since longevity, and I
(00:48):
checked on the lifespan of a manin America.
Am I borrowed?
When I see or hear about men intheir fifties or sixties,
suddenly dropping over from astroke or heart attack or
similar serious illness thatcauses me to think about my
(01:09):
future.
Maybe it does.
You too.
I suspect that many of you, likeme, hadn't heard about the
thought or title for this postSoteriology Soter is the first
part of it, but it will affecteach one of us at some point in
(01:30):
our lives.
When I started my career andwould be doing public speaking
and.
All kinds of groups, events,NGOs, government organizations.
Many times after it was over andI would be talking to people, I
would get asked, are you aChristian?
I hadn't talked about religionor God, but some would say it
(01:53):
was well just in my delivery andattitude towards life.
I've had the opportunity to workaround the world with so many.
Different diverse countries.
I was raised in a Christiancountry.
I'm obviously in America.
Started my work in knowledgearound terrorism in Israel and
Southern Lebanon, and then Ispread out to the four East with
(02:13):
all different kinds ofbackgrounds and religions.
Then finally, I wound up in theMuslim world and I learned a lot
about life and societies and thedifference in people.
Even when I was in a lot ofthese different countries, I
would be asked, what is itthat's different about you?
I just sent something different.
(02:35):
What really surprised me,because I wasn't trying to be
different, I was really justtrying to fit in.
When I asked, I heard variationslike it seems like there's a
light or lightness around you,and you seem so peaceful.
Some would say, I feel that youcare about me and you aren't
trying to sell me anything orchange my way of life.
What does that all mean?
(02:56):
When I wasn't trying to be acertain way, I was just living
out how I was raised.
As I've been reflecting on mylife and my journey, it makes me
think about what is life for meand at this time in my life, in
my years past the lifeexpectancy about six years.
(03:17):
There a God, we've hadconversations all over the world
in all the countries I'vementioned where people would ask
me that question, do you believein God?
And then they would say, what isyour God?
Like many times we would havedeep probing talks about that.
Many people would tell me, Idon't believe in God.
(03:39):
When I hear that, I rememberbeing told by some atheist who
had discovered God that it tookmore faith to be an atheist than
to believe in God.
I wanna think about that.
I think the question is therelife after death?
What happens when we die?
And I think that questionprobably comes to us more as we
(04:02):
get older in.
Many of us come to the point inour realization that when we
look back at our lifeexpectancy, we're living on
borrowed time.
Then the next question is therehope after death had anyone know
for sure that they will spendaton with God in heaven?
Easter just passed.
And in a Christian religion, theresurrection of Jesus from the
(04:24):
tomb is a foundation andcornerstone of the Christian
faith.
Without the resurrection, thereisn't any Christianity, and I
wouldn't be sharing this posttoday.
In a recent post I showed thestory of two atheists who set
out to prove that God wasn'treal.
Josh McDowell and Lee Strobeltwo very.
(04:48):
And as they set out over a twoyear journey to prove that there
wasn't a God, they proved thatthere was without a doubt.
As an investigator, all I can dois share the facts and it is up
to the client or the wisdom todetermine if the facts are true
For me, I became a believer atan early age, just I grew up in
(05:09):
a Christian home.
Now, what prompted me to say yesto God?
That I believe in Jesus Christwas God's son who came and died
on the cross from my sins androse from the grave and now sets
at the right hand of Godinterceding for me.
I heard a pastor on the radiopresent a claim to me about who
(05:29):
Jesus was, and I said, I wannaaccept and receive this free
gift of salvation, my testimony.
Is that except for the grace ofGod, there go I, God's been
faithful to me, to forgive mewhen I didn't deserve it.
Maybe you can relate to thattoo, and maybe that's kept you
(05:51):
away from God.
He's brought me back from theedge of destruction to time and
time again, even when it was myfault.
Why would he do that?
In just a few minutes that Ihave, I don't wanna make this
long.
I want to share what Soterilogyreally is.
It is a doctrine of salvation.
(06:13):
Yes, it's a doctrine.
Many of us don't want to hearabout that.
We don't wanna hear aboutreligious terms, but this is not
man's word.
This is from the scripture ofGod, the Bible, and interesting
to note.
We call it the Bible today, butit wasn't a Bible until the
fourth century.
Prior to that, it was called thescripture or God's word.
(06:35):
In these few minutes, I justwanna give you some things to
think about, to help you decidewhere you will spend eternity.
I'm just gonna look at seventhings quickly that helps tie
all this together.
The question I would ask, do youknow for sure.
If you were to die tonight, thatyou would be in heaven with God.
(06:55):
If you aren't, I have some verygood news for you on how you can
know for sure.
There's a list of seven things Ihave that really describes
Soterilogy the doctrine ofsalvation.
First is depravity.
We don't wanna hear that word.
What do you mean depravity?
It means all our sinners.
(07:17):
All of us.
And I don't think there's anydoubt if you look at a small
child, a little bitty baby, theysuddenly developed mine, mine.
And they developed this nature.
They didn't caught that.
It came with that as we all did,and depravity that we're all
sinners being more, than that.
But simply put.
(07:38):
Listen to this.
Without God's mercy, we fallextremely out of being able to
approach a Holy God.
So we're all sinners.
None of us can save ourselves.
None.
Holy, God's a holy God.
Then there's a wrath of God.
Wow.
What are you talking about,Phil?
These are heavy things.
This is a judgment of a holy Godagainst all sin, but there's
(08:01):
good news.
God made a way for us to avoidhis wrath, and I found that in
my life, and I know lots ofother people that have to.
It's made me a betterinvestigator by having God as my
chief investigator.
The wrath of God is a judgmentof a holy God against all sin.
(08:23):
You say Phil, how can have hope?
Next comes the love of God.
God has mercy on you and me andall his people.
He didn't want us to have tolive a life without him or spend
an eternity without him.
God had made angels and he madeall these animals and all these
(08:44):
other creatures, but there wasnone that had us soul or had a
free will.
When he decided to make man, andhe made a man and a woman that
he just said I want them to havefree will.
I know this is a gamble, but I'mgoing to allow them to choose
me.
I don't want'em to follow melike the Angels and obey or not
have a free will.
I'm going to trust them.
(09:06):
I'll give him the freedom to sayeven no to me.
You have that freedom.
I have that freedom.
But God says, I've made a way,and I'm gonna tell you about
that in just a minute.
Then there's the atonement.
What is the atonement?
God, in the Old Testament, priorto Jesus had a blood sacrifice.
And every year there had to be aperfect animal sacrifice.
(09:30):
That was.
Forgive the sins of the people, and the priest would present
that in the hallway of hallways.
But he said, I don't want thatto have to continue.
I need to have a perfectsacrifice that for one time and
for all time, it will be thatthe people receive that
sacrifice, accept it, then theywon't have to pay the price by
(09:54):
shedding their blood becausewithout the shedding of blood.
There is no atonement for sin.
Then the next part of God's lovefor us and the theology of
salvation is the forgiveness.
Forgiveness.
Our debt is canceled by thesacrifice of Jesus.
(10:16):
All those things we've donewrong.
Every little thing I've had somany people tell me, Hey, Phil.
I don't really I'm not that bad.
I haven't done any major sins orcrimes.
I, I mine some of, but I tryreally hard.
I try to treat people right andall that, not good enough.
Even one little lie is too much.
(10:38):
God cannot accept you or me.
He's forgiven our debts, canceled our sins.
Called justification.
It's caused allowing Christ andhis righteousness and the price
he paid on the cross to betransferred to us.
(11:00):
What did God do?
God said, I'm gonna send my son.
He's perfect.
I wanna put him in the form of aman.
He was born to a Virgin Mary andhe was born stable.
He lived a life of 33 years onthis earth, and for that first
30 years, he was just a normalman growing up.
He was a young man.
(11:21):
He did all the things that anyyoung man would do in that time,
and he worked with his fatherwho was a carpenter, and he made
one difference.
He never sinned.
He was tempted as we were, buthe was able to avoid that by
knowing his God with thereforehim.
And he had so much trust in hisGod and faith in his God as
(11:43):
Father God, that he didn't wantto disappoint him.
And when he got to the age 30,he started the ministry of
telling people why he came, thathe came, that they might have
life and have it moreabundantly, that they might have
eternal life.
And he chose willingly to go tothe cross to pay the price for
(12:05):
your sins and mind.
And that was what last weekendwas about on Easter Sunday.
On Friday, he was put on thecross at three in the afternoon
he died and he was put in atomb.
But on Sunday morning, he roseagain.
He came out of the tomb's empty.
And in that last post I didabout that, you can, if you want
to check that out, you can findthe fact that proves that the
(12:28):
resurrection really happened.
So Jesus paid the price for yoursin and for mine.
Everything we've ever done orthought about doing.
Then comes sanctification.
What is San Sanctification?
If we receive Jesus is our Lordand Savior and he paid the price
for our sins.
It's the first day.
That's the first step every day.
(12:49):
Then we grow and learn moreabout him.
Wanna serve him better, wanna dothings for him.
Now I like this.
It's not my works ofrighteousness that we have been
Saved Nothing that we can docould be good enough.
But listen to this, I think thisfits it pretty well.
We're not saved by work.
(13:09):
But we saved to work our deedsthat we do.
What I'm sharing with you heredoesn't get me any points in
heaven.
I'm just doing it because Ifound something that changed my
life.
I found something that set mefree.
I found something that's.
to spend with God and with allof those of my family and
(13:30):
everybody I know that alreadyknows Jesus.
That's all.
Nothing that we can do to makeGod love us anymore.
So, remember, we've all sinned.
fall short of the glory, God,all of us need a savior.
It's this information and it'sreally condensed.
I know, but if this has promptedyou, it makes some sense to you.
(13:50):
You want to know for sure if youwere to die tonight, that you
would be in heaven with Godright now by asking you pray
something.
God, I believe you are thecreator of all things that you
love me and made a way for me tobe forgiven of my sins.
I believe that Jesus, your son, came to earth, lived with the
(14:11):
band, went to the cross and shedhis blood for my sins.
He died that I might have to.
I repent of all my sins and Iturn from them.
I ask you to come into my heart.
He might savior your Lord.
I give my life to you and askyou to help me from the day
forward, but live for you.
Thank you for your gift ofeternal life.
