What you saw son is the audiovideo.

Angela Navarette (02:29):
Well, my oldest my oldest lives in New
York and he does commercialediting and directing and set
this up. No, my, my youngest. Mymy youngest likes to like make

does that

Michael Mowbray (02:49):
GarageBand

Angela Navarette (02:52):
uploads them to that?

Dan Frievalt (02:55):
Book face?

Angela Navarette (02:56):
What's the music cap that everybody
downloads to start with an S Ican't remember modify. Yeah,
that'syeah, you have all this stuff.
Lots of guitars and just like tohave fun. Time.

Dan Frievalt (03:20):
So when you when you get excited and want to say
something loud, do the CarlCaylor and get closer to the mic
can speak louder.

Angela Navarette (03:29):
Am I not speaking out?

Michael Mowbray (03:31):
Loud enough where we're just telling you
what not to do?

Carl Caylor (03:35):
Don't do it. I do.

Michael Mowbray (03:40):
Going On Guys, while we're here talking to you,
because we got started justtalking to ourselves. And you
have things to say.

Carl Caylor (03:49):
It's true.

Michael Mowbray (03:51):
Well, you just I don't know if this is this
will take us into PG 13territory but you just kind of
started speaking I was gonna sayyou popped your cherry but I
can't say that because I mighttake as in the PG 13 Oh, wait, I
said it. Oh

Angela Navarette (04:09):
yeah, I I did my first guild presentation last
night and it went pretty. Prettywell. I'm pretty I was very
anxious for a long time but Ifinally I did it. I did it.

Dan Frievalt (04:24):
Where and what was that in Texas or was

Angela Navarette (04:27):
it Yeah, I was. I was in Abilene. So it was
just a quick it's just overYeah, just

Dan Frievalt (04:35):
before it's an inside joke.

Angela Navarette (04:41):
Yeah, so that was fun. That was fun. I came
prepared with my yummy dream.

Dan Frievalt (04:47):
Oh, I thought you had notes and stuff. Oh. Did you
burn up some of that plant inyour background?

Angela Navarette (04:57):
My like, you know, plan to be true. As
background, you know, so yeah, drinking alcohol, but I'm just
drinking celery.

Michael Mowbray (05:08):
That's like, last week I had some blue
curacao and some lemonade andrum and vodka. And that that
looks like the next day.

Angela Navarette (05:21):
This is delicious. And if you probably
can put some vodka or somethingin it, and it's good celery,
apple, cucumber and lime, it'sdelicious.

Carl Caylor (05:33):
Mash we can make a mash out of it. We could distill
it, I'm sure of it.

Michael Mowbray (05:40):
So what do you talk about? We use in Abilene
land.

Angela Navarette (05:44):
I'm just stuff you know, I Well, they asked me
to come and talk about my seniorphotography. And so I just kind
of put together a slideshowmostly for our presentation,
mostly for I think beginnerswould get the most out of it,
because it's I just spoke reallyabout how you know, how to how I

(06:10):
came up with my process forhandling and working with my
senior parents and theirteenagers and just, you know,
kind of being prepared and inholding their hands through
their entire senior experience.

Michael Mowbray (06:25):
It's really important stuff that most people
don't know.

Dan Frievalt (06:29):
I get in trouble when I hold my seniors hand
during this. I don't know it'skind of awkward. Well. Yeah,
it's the length of time that Ihold on. I think that's what is
awkwardness

Carl Caylor (06:43):
to Mississippi.

Angela Navarette (06:45):
I'm holding my parents hands.

Carl Caylor (06:47):
Oh, okay. That could be awkward too. But just
saying. You also have in a newhome studio. Is that correct?
Angela?

Angela Navarette (07:02):
Yeah, I do.
Lots of headshots. I do like alot of one off headshots here in
my home studio and it works outpretty great. And occasionally
I'll do I'll work with seniorclients as well you know, if
they if they have like, well ifthey do like boomerang sessions
and they come back for like capand gown or maybe they change
their hair or something or prom.

(07:27):
So I do I work with lots ofindividuals even online dating
for you know, adults they wantthey want to profile. I don't
know if you can hear my cat youjust need to follow me
everywhere.

Michael Mowbray (07:43):
Some kid Yelich

Carl Caylor (07:45):
pretty much cat.

Michael Mowbray (07:47):
Charlie was

Angela Navarette (07:48):
Charlie Charlie and Frankie are my
sidekicks and they just theyjust don't don't want to be
without me. And so yeah mylittle grins

Michael Mowbray (08:01):
were pet friendly here at the photo happy
hour.

Dan Frievalt (08:06):
Red cash this is this is Charlie cash in the
kennel by the

Angela Navarette (08:10):
way Charlie, I've learned with Charlie Thank
you. Oh,

Michael Mowbray (08:16):
Charlie so so I need to get a cat if I want to
get loan images

Angela Navarette (08:20):
yes you need you need a beautiful tuxedo cat
and you also need a handsome 19year old boy who's also my
closer for yeah I've learnedwith Josh

Dan Frievalt (08:37):
Miko Miko we gave you twig and I think with with
twig Come on. She's guaranteedshe's guaranteed at least like a
World Cup.

Michael Mowbray (08:47):
Well, I was I was teaching when I you know, I
didn't have that all day to playand create. Just shooting on
location teach. So that's myexcuse.

Dan Frievalt (08:59):
That's your excuse. Yes.

Carl Caylor (09:00):
Something I want to play. I gotta get to get the
photograph. Again. For a treat.
Yeah. As your daughter. You gota loan with it with your
daughter too.

Angela Navarette (09:10):
Yeah, yes.
Yep. Evelyn. She's, yep, that'sone of my one of my favorite
pieces that I've ever done

Carl Caylor (09:19):
in my favorite images ever from anybody.

Angela Navarette (09:22):
Oh, thank you.

Michael Mowbray (09:27):
It's our goal here to make every guest cry.
That's why we don't have guests.

Dan Frievalt (09:32):
years it's a different type of cry. That was
a good cry.

Michael Mowbray (09:37):
Otherwise, it's one of us. So true. So you got
to homebase studio, whichsurprisingly is in your home,
and

Angela Navarette (09:49):
I no longer have a dining room. I was just
gonna say that I just pile maleon top of the table.

Michael Mowbray (09:55):
Which which room and then for people who are
thinking about starting theirown little studio or taking a
room in their house and make itinto a studio, what should they
know? What do they need to thinkabout

Angela Navarette (10:10):
lots of things you have to have, you just have
to make a nice presentation forthem when they first arrive at
your home and, well my, my setupis really nice because clients
don't, you know, kind of traipsethrough my entire home when they

(10:32):
get here that my dining room islike immediately to the left
when you enter in that's where Ihave my studio space set up so
so it works out really wellunless they need to go to the
restroom they're going to justgo down the hall and to the left
and so you know I just try tomake sure that that everything

(10:54):
looks nice and presentable andit's clean and it doesn't smell
I got after my son the other daybecause I was like look I got a
client coming at one o'clock andjust say you know FYI and then
he gets up late and then goesand he starts making food and
I'm I am literally like myhead's gonna explode because I

(11:14):
don't want I don't I want tosmell nice so I kind of lost it

Carl Caylor (11:22):
so the big cookies

Angela Navarette (11:25):
just try to keep everything so no food can
be made in the house an hourbefore I have clients coming
over here I'm actually thinkinglately I actually as much as I
have enjoyed my home studio anddo enjoy it because it's
convenient I got a short commuteI kind of been wanting a studio

(11:48):
like a storefront just to kindof avoid stuff like that but

Michael Mowbray (11:54):
there's a really nice one coming available
and appear I think

Dan Frievalt (11:58):
I'm just gonna warm this salmon up real quick

Angela Navarette (12:04):
literally I'm not gonna lie to you literally
he was he was making salmon Ijust went I went ballistic like
I just bought this brand newbeautiful just like my kitchen
remodeled like what two yearsago I got this beautiful you

(12:24):
know vent hood and I'm like youdidn't even turn the vent hood
on like it just smells in theentire house I was like
mortified going around. Here's alittle tip for you if you're
trying to get rid of since poophurry works great everywhere
else

Michael Mowbray (12:43):
just spray right on the salmon

Dan Frievalt (12:46):
so we can we can we can end the podcast now we
got a power tip there is a powertip

Angela Navarette (12:58):
try to make sure everything you know it's
presentable It smells nice it'sclean and you know most people
when they walk in are just likeoh wow, I didn't know what they
were expecting but they justweren't expecting my my
professional setup that I got instudios.

Michael Mowbray (13:16):
So it's oh wow, I get a lot of oh, wow

Angela Navarette (13:23):
this is really this is so cool. How long have
you been doing this? And I'mlike, Mr. Mr. Furley sniffle
weeks

Dan Frievalt (13:37):
Wow, get this.
Yeah, Jing do you get thisbecause people will walk into my
studio every once in awhile nowlooking at it like oh, these are
awesome. Did you take thesephotographer

Angela Navarette (13:51):
do I have like a whole I have a whole wall of
you know, portraits and sampleportraits up there and I get
that exactly thing like oh, didyou take these now Sally my
neighbor

Dan Frievalt (14:04):
yeah see with the friends

Carl Caylor (14:12):
I have everybody that's coming in the studio so
far has asked that same questiondone and how do you take these
wall if I didn't ankle

Michael Mowbray (14:25):
I guess enough people were altered using other
people's work that maybe peopledon't know you know?

Angela Navarette (14:31):
Well, I guess people just don't know what to
say. So let's

Carl Caylor (14:34):
say Oh, I didn't take these pictures. I made
these pictures.

Michael Mowbray (14:40):
Yeah, so So smell smells important. Now.

Angela Navarette (14:45):
It's important to have a good a good stock of
poop hurry just in case your sonmakes salmon 10 minutes before
you have people coming over. Iand you know I haven't really
small I don't have I have aginormous house. I have a small
space, but I love it. It'sperfect. But I do have the

(15:08):
equipment that that I use, whichis the Godox gear because it's
all cordless. And it allows meto save space. I'm big on on
making the most of the realestate that I have in the floor
space that I have. So everythingis like cordless, and it works
so well together. So you canmake Wow, where do I get it

(15:33):
from? You make the most

Michael Mowbray (15:36):
out of your space with Mo light.

Angela Navarette (15:39):
And I can be more I can be the most easiest
mo ever.

Michael Mowbray (15:48):
Second moist?
Yes.

Angela Navarette (15:52):
Yeah, yeah. So I and I just updated all of my
gear. I used to have like a 600.
And I still had my 360 that Iuse, you know from that I was
like my

Dan Frievalt (16:05):
62 Yeah, that's what did the other day I'm like,
I might need this.

Angela Navarette (16:10):
Yeah, it still works. It's still great. So i i
Actually I had my 360 as my mainlight in there, but then I up I
upgraded in December, I boughtan AB 302 100. I like them
because they're really nice andsmall. But I just really really

(16:32):
love the 300 because I'm allabout and is all about the best
bang for your buck and the 300is it with that LED light. I
mean, it's just awesome. I loveit. I was I was talking to her
about that last night so yeah,

Dan Frievalt (16:49):
yeah. Love me the 300

Angela Navarette (16:52):
but I do all sorts of stuff in my studio.
Also, I even I even use naturallight occasionally. Girl

Dan Frievalt (17:01):
What do you buy that from?

Angela Navarette (17:03):
It's free.
It's free.

Michael Mowbray (17:06):
You probably augmented somehow. I wonder how
you roll? Is there maybe scrimof some sort or two? Or?

Angela Navarette (17:19):
I definitely use I love my my rolly rolly
scrim Flector. Sure.

Dan Frievalt (17:28):
Yeah, I use that's gonna be a moment there
somewhere.

Michael Mowbray (17:31):
I'll overdub that is like my rolling scrim
Flecker my holy moly my

Angela Navarette (17:38):
rolling most scream flexor. I use that all
the time. I use it every levelYeah, I have lots of equipment
from low light. I love it. Andit just makes it makes life
easier for me for sure. Forsure.

Michael Mowbray (17:58):
And putting out on the website. There you go.
Hey, you know what? wood camefrom? International shipping
today I got a sample of apossible new scrim Fletcher Jr.

Carl Caylor (18:10):
Oh, wow. Really?
Similar?

Michael Mowbray (18:13):
Yeah. I'll show it to you guys. Outside of the
podcast. I haven't decided ifI'm going to bring it in or not.
So I'll show it. I'll show it toeverybody in a special secret
group that none of you all canbe and I'm talking about all
your listeners. So our specialsecret group both everywhere we
share we share things in acircle of trust. And photos.
There's a circle of trust

Carl Caylor (18:34):
for that, too. I'm just saying

Angela Navarette (18:39):
are we drinking? I mean,

Carl Caylor (18:41):
anytime there's a reference to movie or sitcom,
absolutely,

Michael Mowbray (18:44):
yeah. Call it a movie or anything

Dan Frievalt (18:46):
or Yeah, yep. or anything. Just basically just
keep release.

Angela Navarette (18:50):
We just keep drinking. I can always just say
in that secret group. I get norespect. Rodney Rodney Rodney
Dangerfield?

Michael Mowbray (19:04):
I think I may make a lot more fun of Jen than
I do of you but

Angela Navarette (19:10):
it's true.
That's true. That's true. Smells

Michael Mowbray (19:18):
she said she smells like

Dan Frievalt (19:23):
smells

Angela Navarette (19:25):
if you're watching I'm not participating
in that

Michael Mowbray (19:31):
yeah, she doesn't know it will take
listen,

Angela Navarette (19:37):
I do listen to you guys when I'm walking on my
show X know when I go on my myforeign five mile walks. I
listened to your podcastpodcasting. See that's

Michael Mowbray (19:51):
where we come out with more episodes.
Otherwise people don't get achance to shower or walk, walk.
So what else you want to sharewith us? Young Angela. I don't
know. You're younger than me. So

Angela Navarette (20:04):
that's what counts. I just got back from
Greece. That was fun.
It was awesome.
I'm getting ready to go toItaly. I'm sorry. I didn't get
to take pictures like I wantedto, but Oh, well. Yeah, I took
pictures in my head and I lived.
I lived the memories.

Michael Mowbray (20:24):
Very. Where are you going in Italy?

Angela Navarette (20:28):
Um, we are going to Rome. Venice. Florence
and Sorento

Michael Mowbray (20:36):
taking a vegetable around. Are you taking
a rickety bus?

Angela Navarette (20:40):
Yeah, well, we're, yeah, we're going on a
tour. It's a guided tour kind ofthing. So it's our first you
know, kind of experience withtraveling overseas, so. So it'll
be fun. And we'll get to see alot of things and a lot of do a
lot of things and see a lot ofplaces. So it'll be quick,

(21:02):
though. It'd be like, Look atthis. Take a picture. Let's go
see that. Take another picture.

Michael Mowbray (21:09):
Drink the house wine. That's one tip. I've I've
always heard drink the housewine. Yeah. Isn't the house
wine. Pretty good.

Dan Frievalt (21:17):
Yeah. And it's free. It's cheaper than soda or
water.

Angela Navarette (21:21):
I'm excited to be walking around because I I've
seen like on the tick tock thatthey're like these. You can go
up to like a little. It's like alittle wine drive thru in Italy
and get some good wine out ofthese little windows and stuff.
And I'm hoping to see, I'mhoping to see. So

Dan Frievalt (21:42):
I thought so I thought you're gonna say because
there's some secret places whereyou can look through like a
little hole or crack in the walland see this great view. I wish
I was shooting all thesetextures because it's, you know,
beautiful, wonderful textureseverywhere. So I'm with my
camera like, zoomed in close, like of the wall, like taking

(22:02):
textures. And my wife was like, people keep stopping and looking
at it. Like what's like, I thinkthey thought I was like, had
some secret chamber. Lookingthrough zooming in on textures.

Angela Navarette (22:18):
That reminds me of the time that I went to,
we went to Yellowstone, and wegot up really early to go and
watch like, see if we can seesome wolves or something. It's,
we we're driving along and wesee a bunch of photographers
like people with all theirscopes and stuff, like you could
see a whole line of people onthis hill and we're like they

(22:40):
must they must be seeingsomething so like we go up
there. And like what's what's upguys? What are you looking at in
there? Oh, we're just looking atbutcher walls and stuff. And,
and it was just really funnybecause I walk up there and I'm
like, Angela's NationalGeographic photographer. You
know? We're just standing aroundtalking, you know, people are

(23:02):
letting us look through theirscopes and stuff and somebody
turn around and somebody says,Yeah, I heard there's somebody a
National Geographic photographerhere. Me

Carl Caylor (23:20):
Yeah, so fun to mess with people.

Angela Navarette (23:24):
I didn't have cool camera gear then. So you
know. And now now that I do Idon't think I ever want to take
my gear with me. I just want tolike eat and drink.

Michael Mowbray (23:35):
Why don't you shoot Nikon?

Angela Navarette (23:38):
Don't even start with me. Don't

Michael Mowbray (23:44):
Oh, someday you'll get some cool camera
gear.

Angela Navarette (23:48):
Don't start with me. I promised I wouldn't
curse.

Carl Caylor (23:52):
You don't like a window light when Godox puts out
you know the products that canlight the mountain range and the
wolves from down across thevalley.

Michael Mowbray (24:03):
Yeah, oh yeah.

Angela Navarette (24:05):
I love all my Nikon gear and I've never had
any problems with my Godoxworking with my Nikon gear. So
how about that? What else do youwant to know? Do you want to you
want to hear me sing La la la lala la la la la. I can say this
feels really awkward. I don'tknow what I'm doing.

Michael Mowbray (24:24):
I didn't know you could sing until you saying
I don't know a month or so agoon. I don't know what it was.
Was it something you sent in amessenger or whatever you're
saying? I'm like, holy crap, youcan say what what when did this
come about?

Angela Navarette (24:39):
I don't know.
I just like to sing in theshower. You know, just whatever.
I don't I don't think I cansing. I like to pretend I can
sing. So I did used to beacquired though I did.

Michael Mowbray (24:54):
I was just here

Angela Navarette (24:56):
but just because you're required doesn't
mean you can see

Michael Mowbray (25:00):
Because I was inquire, yes. You know why my
girlfriend talked me into it. Sothere was a shocker. And I'll do
you two guys. You guys will lovethis. You know the other reason
why I did it because it was likethe second semester is right
when we're starting. Because Igot out of one one session of
Fayyad. I didn't care at thatpoint. And we were starting the

(25:20):
rustling section. I'm like, screw that she's gonna stick
with the girls.

Dan Frievalt (25:29):
Well, it's kind of similar. Yeah.

Carl Caylor (25:35):
We used to do handstands, Angelo Texas school.
Yeah, I was just trying toremember what what started that
call where it all started?

Angela Navarette (25:46):
Oh, I just got I just started getting into
yoga. Like, that's when I firstlike, got onto Instagram. And I
just started seeing this bigyoga community. And there was
like these, they were thesedaily challenges. And so you,
like, take pictures of yourselfdoing whatever pose it was for

(26:08):
that day. And so, and I waslike, I just really wanted to
learn how to handstand I wantedto, to balance on my hands. And
so And the big thing was, youknow, to photograph yourself
hand standing everywhere,hashtag handstands everywhere.
So I was just doing it. I wasjust doing it everywhere. You

(26:30):
can actually have fancy I can'teven really hold it. I never
could hold it for very long.

Carl Caylor (26:37):
But that was our class picture, I think or a
reunion picture. I think we're

Angela Navarette (26:42):
I'm still trying to. Yeah, that's a
handsomeschool. And and I also have one
of us hands standing at imagingas well.

Michael Mowbray (26:52):
Yeah. Didn't you do one in the beam mo sign
or something like that? Yes. Ithink

Angela Navarette (27:00):
I did the splits when I did the split. You
did

Michael Mowbray (27:05):
that. So it'd be more but we cropped off the
RV. So

Angela Navarette (27:08):
yeah. Yeah.

Dan Frievalt (27:11):
Remember that time that out? Currently the fall
convention for WPA and scotchSam and I

Michael Mowbray (27:20):
tried to do handstands Yes. Was that before
or after the doctor butkilocalories

Dan Frievalt (27:26):
it was before. But it was still wasn't good. Yeah.
So everyone used to love to comeinto Wisconsin, because to judge
and to speak, because it was aparty time. And that really
hasn't changed. Wisconsinsilhouette that five, five out

(27:46):
of 10. Drunken cities

Michael Mowbray (27:48):
was eight.
Seven was a top five. Hence whyour podcast is photo happy hour.

Dan Frievalt (28:00):
Yes, yes.

Michael Mowbray (28:03):
It was filling a gap in the market. Because,
you know, nobody else was havinga drinking podcast talking about
photography. So there you go. Wefilled a gap much needed gap
marketplace. It's good advice.

Carl Caylor (28:16):
Find the need, feel the need.

Angela Navarette (28:21):
So how is your new studio coming along? Carl?

Carl Caylor (28:25):
Well, I was just telling guys, I had an
interesting week of seniors. SoMonday, I was in it will is
Sunday we had to take aunplanned trip, love and a half
hour drive to Wisconsin and backbecause my wife's uncle passed

(28:46):
away. And so we drove downthere. And so we had funeral
undermined. And Monday, she hadMonday off because we didn't
know if we were coming back lateSunday night, or if we're gonna
stay over whatever. We ended upjust driving all on the same
day. But so I went in thestudio, and I thought I'm gonna
work half day sleep. So, whileI'm there, I get this phone call

(29:09):
Monday. And this gentleman wasasking, do you do copy work? I
said, Well, sure I can. But youknow, what kind of photograph
who took the photograph? Becausethere's always a copyright
issue. You got to make sure thatyou know that not breaking any
laws. He's like, Well, I don'tthink so was back in 2010 2010.
Not that long ago.

Michael Mowbray (29:29):
Right. So 70 years thing, you know.

Carl Caylor (29:33):
And you follow it up. I say, Well, this is for a
funeral. I thought oh, okay, well, how far away are you just
bringing it in? We'll take alook at it. We'll see we can do.
I'll see how fast I can get itback for you. If we're able to
do it, or maybe I can track downpeople whatever it takes. And
any I could hear him talking inthe background to a woman in the
room. And she said yeah, I canrun over there right away. So

(29:54):
about 1015 minutes later, dooropens and incomes this woman
nice class See dress woman, andshe's holding on the photograph.
And I looked at it. And it wasfrom an event, a hospice event
back in 2010. And it had aborder on it said hospice,
something 2010. And I said, well, and she mentioned, she

(30:15):
said, Well, I know this is for afuneral, your invention there on
the phone, but there's no rush.
stuff first. So if you contactme for funeral stuff, we need it
right now. Right? So, okay.
Russia, well, the gentleman isjust got diagnosed with lung

(30:37):
cancer. They're given six toeight months to live. So he's
planning his funeral. And Isaid, Is this Dave's this the
person I talked to on the phone?
She said, Yep, this is Dave. AndI thought, okay. That's
interesting. It's a new one forme. But I thought, you know, if
you get a chance to plan outyour own funeral, that is kind

(30:57):
of an interesting concept, too.
So he's, she said, he's pickingout his music, and he wants
played, and he's got thisphotograph and everything else,
as well. I'll get right on thiseverything. And I call there was
a copyright on the back. So Icalled the studio in the area
that the copyright belongs to.
And they said, go ahead and copyit, because it changed

(31:19):
ownerships throughout the yearsand everything else. So they
said, We don't want to botherjust copying, it's fine. Which

Michael Mowbray (31:26):
again, so for everybody, please do that.
Before checkout be somebody'swork Check, check with the
photographer, check into

Carl Caylor (31:32):
it, because they might have the they might have
the file and you can save ageneration make it look better.
And it's, you know, the law. Andit's just common courtesy
besides. But they said, go aheadand copy it. So copied, I was
actually mounting it. Because Iforget, I printed it out myself.
And it's a mountain net, andphone ring. And I was talking to
somebody else, a high schoolhigh school senior. And I heard

(31:54):
the door open, I walked up andanother older woman walked in
very classy nice hat andeverything ought to do it up and
everything. And I just kind ofput my hand up, set up it right
there. And she said, No problem.
And I got off the phone and Isaid, How can I help you? And
she said, Well, I wonder if youphotograph or can photograph
things for Airbnb? And I said,Sure, like the guests that are

(32:15):
staying there, or is it Airbnbitself? She said, Well, Airbnb,
because it's, you know, for awebsite, so no problem. We got
to talk a little bit. And out ofthe blue. She goes, How much do
you charge for funeral pictures?

Michael Mowbray (32:34):
Carl's got a niche.

Carl Caylor (32:35):
Beautiful picture.
So what do you mean funeralpictures? You said, Well, I'm 89
years old right now. And Ireally like a nice photograph
from Iran to have twice in threedays. Oh, wow. Never. It's like,
okay.

Michael Mowbray (32:52):
And both times you talked to that person? Who
was funerals is gonna be

Carl Caylor (32:59):
so a whole new niche speaking of niches and
everything. Yeah. Wow. Fillingit filling the needs,

Michael Mowbray (33:06):
I guess maybe flyers at the old folks home,
you know, by and ahead. Yeah, get

Carl Caylor (33:12):
a headshot. You already think about it's not
that far off reality. I mean, they pre sell burial lots surely
pre sale, coffins and all thatkind of stuff. And the funeral
homes themselves are now sellingthe whole, whole funeral
experience.

Angela Navarette (33:30):
I am. So my aunt passed away a couple of
years ago from ovarian cancer, and, you know, like, it was
just, she was sick for a longtime. And so all of her, she,
she lived in El Paso all herlife. And then she moved up here

(33:52):
to Dallas, because her kids weretaking care of her. And you
know, and I think that's reallyimportant. So I think it's
really, I actually think it'sreally neat that, that you have
people contacting you to dothat, because I made it, you
know, a point to take theirfamily pictures together and to
have a nice portrait for them, that they could, you know, have

(34:15):
for, you know, it's an you know,it sucks, but it's a second
thing to think about but butit's something that everybody
really should have, you know,

Michael Mowbray (34:29):
policy so your family doesn't have to scramble
and the best thing they can findis, you know, you eating fried
chicken at the family reunion, like eight years ago, you know,
well,

Carl Caylor (34:40):
can you that's that's how I got my grandma,
both my grandmother'sphotographs was because of a
wedding I photographed. And Iwas getting kind of worried
because, you know, back when Iphotographed a lot of weddings.
I always told him we need totalk at least two weeks away
from the wedding. Make sureeverything's in line with every
thing. And the week before Iwant to be talking again, make

(35:03):
sure nothing got changed andtimes locations all that I could
not get a hold of Scoble at all.
And I mean, they ghost me. Andlo and behold, they like three
days before. And finally, Iwould think, am I gonna show up
and not have them there? Youknow, it's a long way away. This
is a long way we're waiting. Andshe finally called back her dad

(35:23):
passed away in an accident. Andthat's why they were all gone
everything. And she said, Well, you know, you had said, any
special requests, you want tomake sure you you let us know
ahead of time. I said, Yeah. Shesaid, Well, we have somebody had
a picture made on cloth from mydad. And it's thought they
sorted onto a pillow that thering bearer is going to take it

(35:45):
up at that the rings are on hispillow. I thought, Oh,
absolutely, we'll make sure weconcentrate on on that pillow in
the ring bearer and, you know, part of data being there. And
when I saw the picture that wason the pillow, it was the
backside of dad's head, I couldalmost see his his right cheek,

(36:08):
and he's holding on to a canopy,or I could see the canopy or
more than most of the space. Andthat was the only picture they
could find of dad. How sad isthis? And so actually, you can
see right behind right now thispicture of my mom I did when I
got back from that wedding. Itold my mom I'm going to

(36:29):
photograph you and mygrandmother who's on wall right
over here. And I wouldn'tphotograph them my grandfather
has already passed away but Iphotographed a lot of my family
members after that, because Ishut down like a week and just
travel and photograph my familymembers guessing Yeah, I am not
going to have that happen. Dang,

Angela Navarette (36:53):
there you go around to the senior centers and

Michael Mowbray (37:00):
when I shot that was one of our I mean, one
of our mental checklist things.
What I would always say toCrystal sister with most of my
weddings, especially at thereceptions like make sure that
we've got any of thegrandparents smiling, having
fun, or whatever. Same thingwith the parents, because I
can't tell you how many timesthree or four months after or

(37:22):
even a month after it's like canwe get this image of my grandma
because she passed away andthat's the only good photo of
her because like

Angela Navarette (37:32):
that's a good tip poo pourri and taking
pictures of elderly at thewedding I have told my kids that
when I die I already know whatsong I want played. And I want
to be a tree so you all cansplit me in like put me on your

(37:54):
property and nobody everybody'sdancing.

Michael Mowbray (38:01):
John thought about that too. But you know
what if somebody plants a treeand the tree dies neuro like

Carl Caylor (38:10):
to be

Michael Mowbray (38:12):
so I got a question for you one last
question for you. So you wereborn and raised in like El Paso
area, right? Yes. And lifelongTexan. Yes. Why don't you have
more of a Texan accent?

Angela Navarette (38:25):
Oh, that's easy because I lived on a border
town. Oh people who have thatTexas drawl are they they're
from like East Texas you knowand even in even in Dallas area
like my my nephew he's got alittle bit of a tween kind of
and so yeah, cuz I'm I'm from aborder town that's why

Michael Mowbray (38:50):
Okay, makes sense. I thought maybe you just
filtered it out somehow thatmaybe you just filtered it out
somehow.

Angela Navarette (38:59):
I couldn't talk like this if you want me to
know that sounds that soundsmore like Shin and

Michael Mowbray (39:04):
does a little bit of Alabama in there.

Carl Caylor (39:08):
Yeah southern drawl. I thought you're gonna
ask her if about chili if beansand chili were a thing or not?

Angela Navarette (39:18):
Well I like beans so you know I like beans
in the chili

Dan Frievalt (39:27):
supply of popery

Angela Navarette (39:32):
if you cook them right you don't need the
popery chili

most of your real estate. That'sThat's key.

Angela Navarette (40:44):
Yeah, absolutely. Yep. Here's another
little tip. Every time I go andstay in a hotel, I like to see
how they're utilizing the spacein in the room just like oh,
this is an interesting use ofspace. Like I just like to get
little ideas. I'm always lookingfor how to use small spaces the
best way that I can. So
