The Classic Plus survey raises critical questions about how Blizzard might extend the WoW Classic experience with new features while maintaining its distinctive charm. We analyze potential additions ranging from cross-faction class availability to WoW tokens and explore what they could mean for the game's future.

• Weekly reset information includes Collector's Bounty with 5% increased drop rates for pre-Dragonflight rare items
• Shamans for Alliance and Paladins for Horde would break faction identity but provide more player options
• Collections UI and account-wide unlocks would improve convenience but might diminish character uniqueness
• In-game events between major content releases could solve the raid logging problem
• Class talent adjustments could make underpowered specs viable while maintaining classic combat feel
• WoW Token could address the botting problem despite being controversial
• Visiting unexplored zones like Mount Hyjal and Gilneas would add fresh content within established lore
• Cross-realm play could help maintain healthy server populations

Tune in next week for part two where we'll continue breaking down the remaining survey questions and discuss the biggest proposal at the end.

Hope you all enjoy and hope you relate to any of these stories. And I will speak to you all in the next episode!

Speaker 1 (00:42):
Music.
Thank you, hello and welcome tothe Pig and Whistle Tales from
Azeroth.
As always here at the Pig andWhistle Inn in Stormwind, I go
for a variety of subjects.
With regards to World ofWarcraft, grab a bottle or a

(01:02):
pint, sit back and enjoy.
With regards to World ofWarcraft, grab a bottle or a
pint, sit back and enjoy thisepisode.
We will be finally talking aboutthe Classic Plus survey.
That happened a couple weeksago almost A little bit late to
the party there, but been alittle bit hectic, we should say
, over the past couple weeks.
But, as always, we'll start offwith the weekly news order.

(01:28):
Is your world boss?
For this week?
They are located withinashkahet.
As well as the godfather, youcan locate him within the
undermine.
You have collector's bounty andburning crusade time walking.
Burning crusade time walking.
You can get cosmetics, reputation mounts, pets, etc.
As well as the collector'sbounty.
This is actually something newand that is being introduced.

(01:48):
This is something that allowsyou to have easier access at
getting rarer rewards from oldercontent.
So anything pre-Dragonflighthas a 5% chance increase to drop
from said boss or whatever itmay drop from.

(02:11):
This is really good because itallows for people who have been
farming stuff for so long toactually have that better chance
at acquiring these items.
These are anything from mountsto legendaries items.
These are anything from mountsto legendaries, so from
invincible at the top of icecrown citadel, uh, all the way
to thunder fury into molten core.

(02:31):
You have an increased at fivepercent chance to obtain this,
and this isn't like oh, youincrease it by a certain amount,
it is a flat five percent.
So if it's one percent, dropchance, like originally, you
just add another five onto it.
If it's 0.5, add five to it.
It's that simple.

(02:52):
Uh, deep six is your brawl forthe week.
This is a 6v6 battleground thatfocuses on just essentially, um
, being a bit more impactful ina battleground setting, because
what you do matters, as there isless people within that or,
yeah, there is less peoplewithin that battleground, so you

(03:13):
need to pull your weight a bitmore.
It's very simple, quite goodfun, and this is on maps such as
Templar, kotmogu, warsong Gulch, etc.
Now let's start off with thissurvey.
That's the one.
This was sent out to a lot ofpeople, myself included, a
couple of weeks ago, and I'vebeen meaning to talk about it,

(03:35):
but there's been other thingsthat I've been wanting to do so.
This is a survey that is goingto basically determine what
Classic Plus is.
Okay, classic Plus, and thereare other questions on this, but
this is what is going to be thenext iteration of World of
Warcraft 4, blizzard.
Okay, now I'm going to go overmy thoughts on these features or

(04:00):
the questions that they'veasked, and I'm going to give my
essentially opinions on it andas to if it's good, bad,
indifferent, what might hinderit, what might not hinder it.
There is a lot of thesequestions, so I might make a
part two of this, but we'll seehow it goes.
We'll see how it goes.
So, firstly, they wanted to askabout the feature.

(04:23):
So I'm going to say the thefeature, and then I'm going to
give a description of thatfeature.
Okay, this is what they've donein the survey.
The feature is playable shamanson the alliance side and they
say about playable paladins onhorde side.
So we'll do them as one, basically, but the introduction
of shamans to alliance and theintroduction of paladins to the
horde, I think that it would beweird for classic to have this.

(04:50):
I get that it would be very funto open up a new class for these
, uh, for the factions okay, andit would feel like a new class
completely.
But where are you going to put, like, the shaman quests or the
paladin quests for thesefactions?
There's going to be somethingthat is completely different for

(05:12):
them.
Um, and how are you going tofit it in lore wise?
I get that you're going to have, um, like dwarves.
Dwarves are very good when itcomes to being shamans.
Uh, as you have wildhammers andthe wildhammer dwarves in the
hinterlands that you could belike, oh, they taught the
dwarves how to be shamans.
And I suppose you do havetorrens, who are very much, um,

(05:34):
I forget the name of them, butthere are torren paladins.
But I just don't think thatthat's great.
They could maybe go with theforsaken, as they do allow
people who will the light in theforsaken to be brought back.
Now you actually have lightwielding forsaken, so you do
have that avenue to open up, butin my honest opinion, I would

(05:56):
say no to this one, and that'sreally strange, because I
thought that it would be cool toopen this up.
But I like the dynamic ofhaving paladins.
If you wanted to raid in ahorde or alliance guild, you'd
have paladins, or guilds, you'dhave shamans, kind of deal.
I think that it's a no, thoughI don't think that this is
needed.
I would like to see a new class, potentially, but I don't know,

(06:19):
I can't remember if they askedabout that.
But a new class would be kindof cool.
Something completely different, maybe like a little tinker or
something like that.
You know who knows Collections?
A UI based system for pets, mounts and toys to free up
inventory space.
I don't think that they needthis at the moment in Classic.

(06:42):
If they were to continuouslyadd more and more content into
classic then, yeah, potentiallythey would need the collection
tab, because the more stuff thatyou add into classic, the more
mounts you get, the more petsyou get, the more cosmetics you
get, the more whatever you mightget.
So, potentially going forward, yes, but at but at the moment I

(07:03):
would say no.
I wouldn't agree with acollections tab kind of like how
it is in retail.
Retail needs it because of theamount of stuff that there is,
but honestly, there is not a lothappening there at all.
By the way, I do hope that youcannot hear that, but there is a
fan behind me blasting likeright behind me, because it has

(07:24):
been so hot during likethroughout europe for the past,
like few days or week or so.
It's ridiculous, um.
So apologies if you can hearthat, but it's necessary,
otherwise I may or may not passout while doing this.
So it is what it is, um.
But yeah, back to it.
I think that you do not needthe collections tab as of yet.

(07:46):
Okay, once they release a lotmore, then potentially very much
potentially, but not yetaccount wide collections, making
all pets, mounts and toysavailable to all characters on
your account.
I will.
It's tough.
It's because you're going tohave people say, oh my God, no,

(08:08):
your character needs to feelspecial, your character needs to
have a place.
They need to earn their placewithin it.
And it's like, yeah, that's allwell and good, but the thing is
I'm just logging on to my maingetting gold easier and then
send it over to buy a mount.
You know it's nothing reallyspecial.
I'm kind of using my higherlevel to do these things.

(08:30):
Anyway for me, I would say yesto this, and I would say yes
purely on the basis of I don'tthink it would affect anything
really, I think if you've earnedit on that character, like a
PvP reward thing.
I think you keep them sort ofthings relatively what's the

(08:56):
word for it confined to thatcharacter.
But if you have something assimple as, like a night saber
mount, I think that these sortof things should be fine to
switch between characters orshare between characters.
I think that if you get a superrare drop, maybe as well, like

(09:16):
Zoolian Tiger or the Raptor, etc.
But I do think that the simplermounts and collectibles should
be shared, but I don't believethat the more unique stuff
should.
Okay.
1v1 duel arenas the ability togo into a special dueling area
for 1v1 contests that areviewable by spectators.

(09:39):
I would like this on retail, soI'm going to say yes to this on
classic, but I do believe thatonly certain specs will go into
these arenas.
I think you're looking at mages, warlocks, priests, rogues.
I think you're looking at thesesort of things because,
depending on if you can andcan't use consumables in these

(10:00):
like arena style contests, someclasses are just going to not
have a fun time.
They really, really aren't.
If you sorry, my voice is goinggone.
If you match up against themages warrior, you may as well
alt f4.
Okay.
If you've got no consumes oranything like that, you may as
well alt f4.
It's just not going to be worthyour time to stick around in

(10:23):
that arena.
So if they had consumables, yes, potentially.
But again, we've seen this inpvp, like classic pvp
tournaments before that there'salways going to be a stronger
class and that class is warlock.
Warlock is always going to bethe class to be.
So you know it's tough.

(10:44):
I would like to see this inretail and classic.
So I'm gonna go yes, I'm gonnago yes with this, and the only
downside is I obviously seepeople being like well, this is
unplayable for warriors orpaladins or whatever it might be
, but that's classic.
That's not a 1v1 jewel arenathing.
That's a balance issue thatclassic has had since day one

(11:06):
back in 2004, where mages couldabsolutely wipe the floor with
warriors and warlocks could wipethe floor with anyone.
You know that kind of thing.
So I would like to see this inclassic plus or retail.
Honestly, retail would be good.
Uh, new player character models, character models similar to

(11:26):
those that used, uh, in modernworld of warcraft.
Now, modern world of warcraftcharacter models were brought in
during warlords of draenor andfunny fact, someone told me
about this warlords of draenorfrom getting these new wow
character models to the presenttime is a longer time span than

(11:47):
when we got them.
So so, from the start of Worldof Warcraft to when we got them,
it is now a longer time spanthat we've had these WoW models,
in comparison to when WoW firstreleased, to when it got the
updated, which I find crazy tobelieve because it was Warlords
of Draenor.
It came out, didn't it?
And Warlords of Draenor was2014.
Okay, just let that sink in2014.

(12:11):
So yeah, I would have to saythat they would need to change
the character models, but I'mhonestly impartial to it.
I think that there's a certaincharm to the classic world of
warcraft models.
I would say that there's a veryclassic charm to it and that by

(12:31):
taking this away could ruin theexperience for classic.
It genuinely could, and that'sthe sad thing.
But I still think that it's nota bad idea to dabble in.
I think you could allow peopleto potentially have the updated
versions if they so chose to,maybe kind of like how you did

(12:53):
the updated texture models inCataclysm.
Some people might want it, somepeople might not.
So give the option to turn iton and off.
Basically, that would be myopinion on it.
I wouldn't be against this, butI wouldn't be for it.
On it.
I I wouldn't be against this,but I wouldn't be for it.
Okay, I just think it's aimpartial change that wouldn't

(13:14):
really be needed or wanted, butit certainly it wouldn't be.
The worst thing in the world iswhat we'll say.
It wouldn't be the worst thingin the world.
Uh, in-game events, new eventsthat offer different small
quests and casual gameplayaround the world.
These would release betweenlarge updates.
Yes, I think that this is whatclassic needs.

(13:36):
I think classic very much in itswhole lifespan has been oh my
god, the leveling has been so,so good.
This is amazing.
Oh my god.
Molten core is so amazing.
I, I can't wait to do BlackwingLair next patch.
And then you do Molten Core forabout eight weeks, let's say,
let's say two months, okay, andthen you get bored.

(14:02):
You start raid logging andthere's nothing to do in between
because you don't need any gear.
You don't need to do UpperBlackrock Spire, Lower Blackrock
Spire, you don't need to doupper black rock spire, lower
black rock spire, you don't needto do these dungeons.
You already have your previoustrinket, you already have a
talisman from molten core.
You know you don't need thesecertain things, so you just raid
log.
And it desperately needssomething in between to keep the

(14:26):
player base coming back to playit day in, day out.
And I know that you'reobviously going to have a very
dedicated amount of players forclassic.
You always will and always.
You know that's going to bealways happening.
But this would help with thateven more.
It would keep a larger playerbase around for future raids to

(14:50):
be released and give them timeto release said raids.
So I wouldn't be against thisand I think that it's very much
needed.
Okay, pet battles?
That now, before you roll youreyes, I agree I don't think pet
battles are needed.
There is very few pets withinclassic, so I don't think that
it's going to be a viablesolution in the first place.

(15:11):
But let's see select pets fromthe game world and have them
compete head-to-head with otherpets in turn-based battles.
I did pet battles in warlordsof draenor.
I did a lot of pet battles inwarlords of draenor, but I don't
think pet battles are needed.

(15:31):
If they are added and it's anelement of the game that people
enjoy and actively pursue, perfect, I think.
Add it.
I think why not add it then?
But personally I don't thinkit's needed.
I don't see the value in it atall.
But again, other people preferthis sort of thing to raiding or

(15:54):
pvp, and that's completely fine.
I understand that, because Ienjoy pvp over everything.
Yeah, so I understand enjoyingsomething over another thing,
but, um, yeah, I don't thinkit's needed.
Okay, to clarify, I don't thinkany of this is needed, but I
think some of it will beLeveling, profession

(16:15):
improvements, ability to makemore usable gear for yourself as
you level and be able to craftit at level appropriate trade
skilled levels.
I think that this is a greatidea.
This is expanding on theprofessions, and professions
within classic are rather dull.
To be honest, it's very much oh, I can use this for raid or I

(16:38):
can't use this for raid.
That's kind of it.
There's no niche sort ofcategory that you're going to
put this in very rarely whenleveling a profession.
Are you like?
Yes, this is a massive upgradefor me.
You know you get it at maxlevel leather working with your
hide of the wild, or you get itat max blacksmithing with your

(16:58):
lion's heart helm or something.
You don't look at rough copperpants at level 10 and be like
that's it.
That's what's going to make orbreak this character them rough,
rough copper pants.
You know it's absolutelyludicrous.
So I don't think, or no, sorry.
I think that it is needed, thatthis is into, the game gets

(17:19):
implemented.
Okay, I think that it'sabsolutely needed.
Next one is new class abilitiesand spells.
Brand new class abilities andor spells unique to this version
of classic.
I think you add new spells, spells that have never been seen
before in world of warcraft.
Or you take spells that havebeen in world of warcraft but

(17:42):
adjust them, invoke the spirits, make it so that it casts four
regrows in a row after a onesecond delay on each, or it
casts four regrows on fourrandom party members.
You know something like that.
Just take older or newer spells, I should say, and alter them

(18:02):
slightly to make it fit what?
What do you think?
I think that that's a good wayof implementing it, but I could
be completely wrong.
Some people might not agree, some people might disagree.
I think that this is a verysolid way of doing it and I
don't see a problem with this.
So I would say yes to the newclass abilities and spells.
I really, really would.

(18:24):
The next part of this, I'm justdouble checking.
Yeah, we may need to do a parttwo of this, so the next part is
very much the same thing honorreward redesigns move honor
rewards away from the originalwow model and towards a more
seasonal model where new honorrewards are added to coincide

(18:46):
with new pve raid tier updates.
Yes, 100.
Yes, pvp.
At the start, world of warcraftwas used only to get gear for
pve.
Once blackwing lair had comeout, pvp gear useless,
absolutely useless.
If they were to add moreseasons when blackwing lair came

(19:06):
out, when, uh, uncourage cameout, it would give the pvpers of
classic an actual excuse to dopvp, rather than sit there with
an ash candy in hand and be like, oh no, I do pvpP because you
know I have the best weapons, and then you go into a
battleground and you'reabsolutely shocking at the game.
You know not speaking fromexperience of someone that I've

(19:30):
seen but yeah, it is what it is.
Yeah, I would very much say thatthis is needed.
This is a very much needed partof classic and it would be long
overdue if it went through.
Okay, it would be super, superlong overdue and I think it's

(19:51):
very much needed, okay.
So, with that being said, theyshould implement this as quickly
as possible.
They really, really should.
It's pretty good the change.
It's a spectacular change thatis needed and, to be honest, it
just means that it would befollowing the same cycle as
retail in terms of PvP seasons.

(20:13):
Pve seasons, you know, a seasonrelease alongside a raid tier,
that's fine.
That, I think, works, worksreally well, but they need to
constantly update it.
Maybe add an extra battlegroundor two would be really exciting
, and I think that's where itwould change for a lot of
players in the game.
The next one is uh, wow token.

(20:34):
A lot of you are going to sayno, okay, a lot of you are going
to say no, but hear me out onthis.
The biggest problem world ofwarcraft classic has is the
botting problem.
I play world of warcraft on aclassic realm and the amount of

(20:56):
bots that I see walking aroundthroughout the evening.
I play late at night, so I seea lot of bots, basically, and I
see them all throughout thenight.
I see hunters, I see hunters, Isee hunters, so many hunters
that are botting, making goldand basically selling that gold.
I think that the WoW tokenstops this and I get that like,

(21:19):
like it's not ideal, but let'sface it.
It's a player problem that wehave created by buying gold
ourselves.
Okay, if players didn't buygold, then this wouldn't be a
problem at all.
It just wouldn't, would it like?
I'm telling you that right nowit wouldn't be a problem at all,
but it is, and so we're here.

(21:39):
This is why the WoW tokenexists.
Sometimes I think that it wouldbe good.
I think that it would allowpeople to strive to make gold in
Classic another end goal forClassic and you can pay for your
game time with your in-gamegold, and I think that it's very
, very useful to do andsomething that should be

(22:01):
implemented.
If they did a classic plus andyou might all, everyone just
thinks oh yeah, but it's a moneygrab, that's all it is.
It's a money grab.
Don't buy gold, then why dopeople buy gold?
Is ridiculous.
It's absolutely stupid andisn't needed.
So it it is what it is.
It really is what it is, and Ithink that it's needed for as

(22:23):
long as people buy gold fromthird parties.
That's all the.
So I say yes to wow token.
A lot of people are going tothink that's controversial.
It's a problem that we havecreated as a player base and
this is the best solution for it, in my honest opinion.
The next one is class talentadjustments, streamlining and

(22:45):
improving class talent trees tomake weaker specializations and
classes more viable, while stillmaintaining the overall feel
and flow to classic combat.
Sound thing is classic combatis very, very slow.
Classic combat is very muchcrossbow, crossbow, crossbow.
Can you guess what's nextcrossbow?

(23:07):
So they would need to reallyredesign the talents and allow
other things to be useful.
That's it.
And to really change up thedynamic of classic raiding or
rotations or just best abilityto press or abilities to press

(23:29):
kind of deal.
They would really need tochange it up a lot.
So I would say yes to the classtalent adjustment.
I really would, and I wouldthink that this is a great
gameplay improvement.
Playable high elves, playablehigh elf race for the horde and
the alliance.
You know what?
As long as they are the reallyugly model of high elves, yes, I

(23:54):
would be so down for that.
Now, the problem that I havewith this is obviously starting
zone, because they would have togo into eversong woods.
They are high elves, theyoriginate from quailthalassa.
All up the way up there waszulaman, the sunwell, all of
that shenanigans.
So they would have to makesilvermoon and they would have

(24:19):
to make eversong Woods andGhostlands.
They could go completelydifferent, but I would imagine
they stick with somewhat afamiliar look to the zones and
stuff.
So I would say yes, on the onecondition that it's the ugliest
fuck models from Classic, because that's what makes it so

(24:39):
much more fun and enjoyable.
That's my opinion on that.
Um, where am I account?
Wide perks and progressionsystem, a system to allow you to
gather points and spend them onaccount.
Wide bonuses such as quality oflife and convenience,
encouraging playing alts orspecializing in specific

(25:02):
activities.
Now, this is good.
This screams to me like thetalent system before the talent
system.
So for those of you that don'tknow, in alpha and beta World of
Warcraft the talent system wasvery much.
You got a certain amount ofpoints and you learned whatever
you wanted, and this could befrom nature resistance all the

(25:22):
way to certain spells, uh,damage increases.
So this is a very open-endedbook and these perks were going
to probably act more like diabloperks, where you have four
specific ones that you cancontinuously improve upon.
I wouldn't think it's veryin-depth, but that's what I'm

(25:44):
going to go with.
I would say yes just out of thecuriosity aspect, but I don't
think it would be a necessity byany means.
I don't think it would be anecessity, so I would say yes,
purely out of the I would wantto see what they come up with
kind of deal now.
The next one is visiting knownbut unexplored zones, visiting

(26:09):
zones that were part of warcrafthistory but never playable in
original wow mount, high gel, oldham and gilneas now, high gel
being the biggest one, obviously, oldham being the
second more known one, and thengilneas being at the bottom of
silver pine.
I would say yes, obviously, because it allows the use of

(26:32):
additional content in thesezones.
Is there any others that wewere kind of missing?
You have the zones that arebehind uh or above for eastern
plaguelands.
You could theoretically turnthese into 12th of last, even
without the high elves, and havethat as a new zone, uh, but I

(26:54):
would say I would say yes tothese.
It depends if they would go offscript and do a zone that has
never existed in wow before, inwhich case I think there'll be
an even better improvement.
But who knows, who knows, withthat.
I would say yes to this.
Next one is interesting playerhousing instance, personalized

(27:15):
housing for players and guidess.
How do you do this in Classic?
That's the one that I want toknow, would they just copy and
paste the retail version thatthey're doing, because I would
be very intrigued to see howthat works.
I would say no.
I would say no to playerhousing in Classic for the

(27:36):
reason of people want it to be acommunity driven thing, and I
think that this would split alot of people up because you're,
in your own instant, theversion of world of warcraft,
kind of deal.
So I would say no to the playerhousing.
Strangely enough, um, yeah, Idon't really have a lot more to
say about it.
I don't know how they wouldimplement it, what the graphics

(27:58):
would be like, kind of deal.
Oh well, achievements A systemto track game milestones and
accomplishments.
I think you should only getachievements if you obtain a
legendary, an Atiesh, aThunderfury, a Sulphurus, you
know these sort of things, alllegendary sort of weapons within
Warcraft lore.
So if you obtain something likeRock de la and lock de la who,

(28:24):
which are unique hunter weaponsfrom molten core and you could
do a specific quest like theseiconic weapons, I think yes for
achievements, but I don't thinkthat they are necessary in any
way, shape or form.
So I would say no toachievements.
I don't think they're necessary, I don't think they're useful.
It'd be cool to track thesethings, but not needed at all.

(28:46):
The next one is cross realm play.
This is where I'll end it forthis one.
But cross realm play I thinkthat you do need this.
Okay, ability to group withfriends from other realms for
dungeons, battlegrounds andother instanced activity.
Yes, now I would say yes if arealm reaches below a specific

(29:08):
threshold.
If that realm hits this markerand there are other realms who
would bring it up to a specificamount, okay, so it can't exceed
10 000 players, but it has lessthan 3k players.
This realm, this one, has 5k,so you put them together 8k.
I think that that would helpwith the population density of

(29:28):
the servers and I think it wouldmake for healthy populations,
which is what you want inclassic.
You don't want a superone-sided population.
So I would say yes to a certaindegree with this sort of thing,
and I think that a lot ofpeople will obviously disagree
with me with that, but I thinkthat it would be something very,

(29:49):
very useful that could beutilised in the future even more
to help with population density.
That is where I'll end it forthis one.
We've still got a few to go over.
I will go over them in the nextepisode and because there is
something big at the end of itthat I would like to discuss,
but you guys will have to tunein next week.
I do apologize that there isanother week to wait, but there

(30:14):
is a lot of good questions thatdo come up, so I really hope
that it will be worth it the way, but do check out all of the
socials down below constantstuff happening.
I just want to see etsy shopmultiple things, um, but yeah,
thank you all very much forlistening and go.
A val, a friend, goodbye, thankyou.
