Speaker 1 (00:39):
Music.
Thank you, hello, and welcometo the Pig and Whistle Tales
from Azeroth.
As always here at the Pig andWhistle Inn in Stormwind, I go
for a variety of subjects withregards to World of Warcraft, so

(01:02):
grab a bottle or a pint, sitback and enjoy this episode.
We'll be going over a fewthings for newer players, but
these are also some things thatpotentially can relate to others
, uh, who are more experiencedto the game.
Um, that being said, weobviously have the weekly news,
as always.
The war within dungeons areyour uh, bonus events for this

(01:27):
week.
Why have I done that the otherway around?
I will never know.
Um, the war, then dungeons areyour bonus event for this week.
This means that you get anextra piece of loot for
completing these dungeons.
And shirai is your world bossfor the week.
This boss is located in?
Where is it?
Uh, oh, my god, am I crazy, nothollow fall the one before that

(01:50):
?
Ringing deeps.
There we go, we got it.
Um and uh, this is basically atthe, located at the very bottom
of the ringing deeps.
It's a monstrosity, very niceand easy to get some gear from,
so make sure you do that.
Fact House is your brawl for theweek.
This is essentially a 15 versus15 arena where essentially the

(02:12):
first team to get wiped outloses.
It's a very simple brawl, butit is a very effective brawl.
I find it very fun.
I think a lot of ranged classesfind it very fun in comparison
to, maybe, melees, becausemelees kind of get dunked on a
little bit in there.
I'm not going to lie.
But yeah, this is your brawlfor the week and I would

(02:33):
recommend doing it.
I think that it is a veryenjoyable one and I do think
that there is a lot that can besaid for it.
So, without further ado, theseare more of the simpler some
like some things that peoplepost on the forums.
There is a uh section that isdedicated to new slash returning

(02:53):
players and I want to be ableto help out wherever I can for
these people.
So we'll start off withsomething very simple.
Um hi, I haven't played the gamesince early bfa and I'm a bit
confused because it looks likeI've lost all the campaign
progress from legion and bfa.
Oldham and the veil don'tappear to be corrupted.

(03:15):
Legion world quests aren'tshowing apart from my warrior
which I played at the time.
All of my artifact weaponappearances are lost and such,
but at the time I still havecorrupted gear in my backpack.
I have my legendary cape andnecklace and when I tried
playing through the BFA campaignagain, the quest showed that my

(03:37):
warband had already completedevery single quest.
Also, I still have theachievements about completing
them.
So I guess my question would bedoes the warband system not
apply to older content?
If so, why does it say warbandcompleted on quests?
Am I missing something?
So warband is a bit weird atthe moment.

(03:59):
Um, reputations are the main onethat warband kind of focused on
, and it hasn't done this forearlier uh expansions yet.
I'm not sure how early this is,but I think it's before legion.
Um, I kind of want to say, Iwant to say before legion.
It doesn't have anything that'slike reputation wise or

(04:20):
anything along them lines that'sshared, but I think that they
are working on that, if I'm notmistaken.
I see like bits and bobs aboutit every now and again.
So I think that very much so.
It's just they haven't gonearound to doing the older
content stuff like um wall ofthe drain or um you know back
from there.
So I think this is nothing toworry about.

(04:42):
I think it's a bit of anannoyance because there is a lot
of spaghetti code that can getmixed up when doing sort of
these warband situations, and Ithink you're going to see a lot
of that.
That happens throughout thenext coming year maybe, where
they're trying to tidy it upalmost as they're going forward
with the warbands the warbandsbut um.

(05:09):
As for bfa stuff, now it shouldgo off based to your main or it
should go based off of yourmain essentially, and who has
the most progress now for bfa, yes, if you did the storyline,
it will class it as completed.
You can still complete thisstoryline via your other
characters, but it will give youa small notification at the end
of each quest where it was likeyou have already completed this

(05:30):
quest or your war band hasalready completed this quest.
That just shows as a littlemarker where your characters
basically were um, because whenyou stop seeing that like sign
or message at the bottom of thequest is well, that's it really,
isn't it?
That's where you got up to um,but essentially they are
cleaning it up.

(05:51):
It isn't a flawless execution ofthe warband system.
Yet the current um expansionsand the most recent ones that
they've done it really well, obviously because they had to.
People still farm that a lotmore so than the like other
reputations, mr Pandaria andstuff.
Although I do think that thereputations for BFA and stuff

(06:14):
aren't linked as well, because Ilook to get a toy which is the
Proudmoore music box from BFAand any Proudmoore Admiralty rep
and I have one character that'sreally high reputation with
this and everyone else isn't andit isn't shared.
So a bit of a bummer for me,but I don't think it might not

(06:36):
be shared.
The reputations, the questsmight be and it might say that
oh yes, you have completed this.
Because I would imaginesomewhere in all of that
spaghetti code is a list ofevery achievement or not
achievement quest that you havecompleted.
Because when you complete aquest the quest disappears,
doesn't it for you, like inWorld of Warcraft.

(06:56):
So it must check a boxsomewhere in that code saying
completed and that must beagainst your account or
character, and then it's pickingit up via the warband.
That's kind of my guess aboutit.
Ultimately, the warbands arestill relatively new.
There's going to be a fewthings that aren't perfect with
it.
The best thing that you canknow about warbands is that

(07:20):
there is warband gear that youcan transfer between your bank.
For your warband.
There is the current expansionsreputation that is shared.
This is the same with, maybe, dragonflight I want to say
dragonflight am I crazy forthinking it's shared with
dragonflight as well?
I'm gonna go with that.

(07:40):
And then you also have otherbits and bobs, like achievements
and stuff like that, orcosmetics that you can now send
over to characters in your warbank and those that are in your
war bank or war band um that youget from raids.
So say, you're a cloth wearerand you loot some plate in a
raid, you can actually learnthat transmog, which is really

(08:02):
really cool.
Um, as for older content, Ithink it's just the quests that
it sort of has registered fornow on the account, but they're
looking at doing reputations inthe future.
How far in the future, I canonly speculate, but hopefully
very soon, because I want thatproud, more admiralty rep, and
you know I'm not going to bedenied that.

(08:23):
I'm not going to be denied thatmusic box.
Essentially, the next one isgoing to be a bit more detailed.
Now this one is for sort ofolder players as well, I think.
So hello there.
The title might be a bitmisleading.
The title was how can I getback into WoW?
Same as the category I postedthis in, but I'm not allowed to

(08:46):
post in other categories and, furthermore, missing the words
to describe my dilemma properly.
But I'm going to try.
Okay, I loved playing WoW backin the days, but since retail
became I don't know, retail, okay, since retail became World
of Warcraft, I guess it kind offeels numb to me to play any new

(09:07):
expansion.
It feels like a race for a fewmonths instead of a steady and
meaningful progression thatlasts even when the next
expansion comes out.
How it was back in these, backin the days.
Um, okay, so I don't know howto explain this to you.
The progression is gear.
The progression is always goingto be gear and then, at the end

(09:31):
of gear, it's going to be whatyou can do with that gear.
So, for an example piece, wehave PvP you get honor gear and
then you go into conquest gearand then, when you're full
conquest gear, what do you do?
You push your rating and thenthat's like the sort of
progression that you want.
Okay, in classic, you leveled up, you got a piece of gear.

(09:54):
That gear stayed with you for awhile, sure, but you switched
it.
You did switch it?
You, you did, unless you playednax ramus at the end of classic
, you switched that piece ofgear.
Okay, and what do you do afterthat?
If you've got your best in slotgear, you have completed the
game.
So what's the fun in that then?

(10:15):
Um, as for new expansions comingout, this is always going to be
the same no matter what burningcrusade, wrath of the lich king
, there's always going to bebetter gear, because it allows
people to progress and it getsthat sense of feeling that you
are progressing your characterwhen you're upgrading your gear
and stuff like that.
It gives people a reason tocome back to the game.
So let's carry on.
So all my progress is kind ofworthless with every new

(10:37):
expansion.
That's the same with classicand like retail, because they
want to make it easier fornewcomers, uh, to get into the
game.
They don't have the play, theydon't have to play the
expansions before to get on mylevel and such.
I'd rather have an end to allthat.
I'd rather have an end to allthe expansions and instead have

(11:03):
it like that again.
Otherwise my motivation to playthe latest one is very low.
Okay, firstly, yes, newerplayers can catch up to your
gear, but if you're doing plus10s, let's say, let's do, let's
do mythic.
Plus 10s.
Okay, plus 12s.
Whatever you're doing, you'regoing to be getting 620 item

(11:25):
level gear.
Ok, let's say 620.
I don't know the exact, butthat is it.
If this person is brand new,how long do you think it will
take them to figure out theirrotation, their damage, their
enchants, their gems, theireverything, and do a mythic plus
10 to get their first piece of620 item level gear?
This isn't even includingmaking the character leve the

(11:47):
class, learning a differentclass if they wanted to.
You know many different aspectsof wow.
It's going to take a while,isn't it?
And then when they evencomplete that dungeon, they
might not be on the same skilllevel as you because you have
more experience in the game as awhole.
So there's different elementsto this.
It's not just gear, okay, it'snot just gear.

(12:08):
Um, even if we don't mainly talkabout gear progression, why
should I farm my transmogs andmounts in the latest expansion?
Because you enjoy the game, because it's something chill to
do, rather than, you know, playan fps shooter that obviously
you don't really enjoy and it'svery intense for you.
It's more of a calming thing todo to go and farm some mounts

(12:31):
and transmog.
I don't know if I could justwait until the next one comes
out and have it way easier tofarm the stuff for uh of one,
way easier to farm the stuff offthe one before with way higher
item level, and out of the newone.
So, okay, this is one hell of amouthful of a sentence.

(12:54):
I get this person might not beenglish or native english
speaker, so I'm trying not toshit on that and how they've uh
made up their sentencesessentially, but nevertheless,
what I would say to this is youfarm things in the current
expansion because it gives yousomething to do.
It gives you a reason to log on.
You enjoy farming it.

(13:16):
You don't want to do something.
That's a bit of a slug fest foryou.
I log on to retail to do pvp.
Some people log on to do pve.
Some people.
If they were forced to do pvpinstead of pve, they would log
off.
They wouldn't enjoy it.
So why would they do it?
You know it's one of themthings.
You don't play a game to playthe elements that you don't

(13:38):
enjoy.
You play a game to play theelements that you do enjoy.
It's ridiculous, um, andeverybody can do that.
While starting as a newcomer onthe latest expansion, all my
achievements I actually didwhile playing that expansion
with everybody else when it cameout basically rendered useless
in terms of having a scale thatis the same for everybody.

(13:59):
Okay, yes, a lot of achievementscan be earned after the
expansion has gone.
But you're telling me gladiatortitles, you're telling me
mythic dungeon titles.
You're telling me ahead of thecurve, raiding titles.
You're telling me stuff likewow's 10th anniversary, wow's

(14:21):
fifth anniversary.
You're telling me you can getall of these achievements still
in the game because you can't.
You go back, you log on rightnow and you go and get a
shadowlands gladiator title thatyou hadn't gotten, or legion
one, or warlords of draenor one,or even a burning crusade one,
because I bet you can't.
I bet you can't do it becauseit's physically impossible.

(14:42):
So there are achievements inthe game that are lucrative,
achievements that allow you toshow sort of some of your
prowess within the game and yourtime spent within the game.
So, yes, a lot of theachievements are shared, but at
the same time, these are normalachievements for the most part,
anyway.
For the most part.

(15:03):
Um, oh god, where was I way?
Higher item level.
Oh my god, where actually was I?
So I think I've lost it.
Uh, I want to make it easierfor newcomers get into the game,
otherwise motivation, okay,here we go.
Uh, essentially.
So I thought about maybe tryingout classic, wow then.

(15:24):
But now I read that gdkp stuffwhich might have been good, a
good method once, but becamemore or less an inflation
mechanic for the game.
I don't really get why peopleneed this.
People are too greedy and wantto play classic but still
rushing it like they play retail.
Back in the days when I playedreal kata, I never heard heard

(15:49):
of that, or maybe I missed itbecause I was mainly playing
with friends of my school.
Okay, I don't know how to saythis.
People who say back in the dayor back in my day, yes, we might
, we understand that it was backin your day that something
happened.
I get that and I'm glad thatyou can reminisce, but it isn't

(16:15):
back in your day anymore.
Okay, I could say back in myday when I played Legion, which
is eight years ago, nearly eightyears, you know, I could say we
were level 110 and the honorlevel system came out and that
was really good because you had50 levels of honor levels and
you had to progress to earncertain talent points.

(16:37):
Now don't get me wrong, it wasan awful system.
But just here, like just playalong with it, I could say back
in my day it was one of the bestsystems that blizzard had ever
made in the game.
Again it doesn't mean anythingbecause it's not in the game
anymore.
They've adapted it, they'vechanged it so like gdkps weren't
a thing, because people didn'tunderstand the game, people

(17:00):
didn't have a good enough pc todo these sort of things, people
didn't have sort of a team speakgood enough, people didn't
understand online likeinteraction as a whole.
Back in 2004 yet it was stillrelatively new to people, so
people wouldn't have understoodthis or had the technology or
the means to do gdkps the waythat they do now.

(17:23):
And yeah, it's absolutely crazyto compare it to something that
is nearly like two decades old.
Decades right Is decades.
10 years, oh God, did I mess up?
No, centuries are 100.
Yeah, it's decades, I amcorrect.
Yeah, it's coming up to twodecades old.

(17:46):
World of Warcraft you can'tcompare it, you just can't.
And this guy mentions Cataclysm.
That's over a decade old.
Ok, that came out in 2010.
That's 14 years old.
It's crazy, it's absolutelycrazy, although I do agree with
him.
People need to slow down in thegame.
People do look to rush it and Ithink people rush it because

(18:09):
they think, oh my God, I needthe best gear, I need the best
everything, when I think peopleneed to take a step back and
actually just enjoy the game forhow it is now.
Um, but yeah, look, you can'tstop the player base from doing
what they want.
You can only control what youwant to do and with all the
guides out there, people willjust be like on autopilot.

(18:29):
It's like okay, I need to dothis dungeon for this piece.
It didn't drop, I leave, cool, you know that sort of stuff.
It is ridiculous.
Um, where was I back in thedays when I played real kata?
I never had that, or maybemissed.
Yeah, yeah, okay, I also readthat blizzard forbid gdkps in
season discovery.
Did they forbid that uh stuff inclassic, or is it still a thing

(18:52):
in Classic?
I don't believe it's a thing inClassic anymore.
Not to my knowledge, I don'tsee many posts for it in looking
for groups, so I don't thinkit's a thing anymore.
In my honest opinion, how can Iplay Season of Discovery if
they still do the GDKP stuff inClassic WoW, if they still do

(19:15):
the GDKP stuff in Classic WoW.
Season of Discovery issomething completely different
to Classic World of Warcraft.
I think this guy needs tounderstand that.
They're two different things.
Season of Discovery is asandbox mode that has different
runes, where you can take spellsfrom other expansions and put
them onto your character stufflike that.
Classic WoW is Classic WoW.
You have Cat cataclysm classicand then you have classic era.

(19:37):
I believe classic era still hasgdkps.
I could be completely wrong.
I've not checked in a very longtime on that online servers.
So, uh, classic cataclysm doesnot, though I do not believe it
does.
I can't find it in the launchermenu.
Okay, that's so for classic uhor for season of discovery, what

(19:59):
you need to do is on thebattlenet launcher you click
world of warcraft and there'sgoing to be three options.
There's going to be world ofwarcraft, the war within world
of warcraft, cataclysm classicand then World of Warcraft
Classic.
You're going to click Classicand then you're going to go into
the realms and that is whereyou will find Season of

(20:20):
Discovery.
For those that do not know, Iknow many of you might have
another option on that and Iwant to excuse myself in advance
.
If my option might set you upor if I misunderstood something,
I'll be happy to hear out yourperspectives and explanations
myself in advance.
If my option might set you upor if I misunderstand something,
misunderstood something, sorry,I'll be happy to hear out your
perspectives and explanationsfor this and maybe get some good
vibes on the game again.

(20:40):
Greetings?
Um, I don't think he meansgreetings, I think he meant
sincerely or regards orsomething.
Um.
But yeah, look, feeling ofprogression is going to be in
every single expansion thatWorld of Warcraft has, and it's
been in the expansion sinceClassic.
Ok, from getting your veryfirst dungeon piece in Deadmines

(21:03):
or wherever you might have gone, ragefire, chasm, wherever, or
all the way to getting a newring in Stratholme In Classic I
had a Dead Minds ring, which isthe lavish jeweled ring which
had six intellect on it, all theway up until I was about level
50 on my mage in Classic, genuinely, and that was a nice

(21:27):
feeling to get rid of that ring.
But at the same time I didn'tfeel as complete when it comes
to gearing in classic when itdid.
In comparison to retail, Iwould say, um, so look, there's
many different aspects to Worldof Warcraft, but I feel like
some people don't realize thatpoint of new expansions is to

(21:54):
have that sort of accomplishmentof gearing up, of progressing.
Your battle pets, your PvPprowess, your gear, your PvE
prowess, you know multipledifferent things, even just
collecting transmogs and mounts.
You know these things aresomething that people just want
to do during the game and ifthat's how they want to spend
their time, that's fair enough.

(22:15):
I think you need to find whatyou enjoy and try not to get
caught up in what others mightthink of what you're doing,
whether it be very slow paced, like leveling just at a
different rate to everyone, ordoing dungeons at a different
rate in comparison to like whatyou might do at the end game.
Some people might not likebattle pets.

(22:38):
I think very few people do, butpeople do them still, and then
people do enjoy it and fair playto them.
I think that's very good.
I think that everyone has theirown place within wow and their
own thing to do within wow.
You just need to find it andenjoy that aspect of it.
You won't enjoy every aspect ofWorld of Warcraft, but I think

(23:00):
that's the best thing that youcan do essentially in this
instance.
That is where I will end it forthis episode.
Thank you all very much forlistening.
Do check out all of the socialsdown below constant stuff
happening over there.
But once, thank you all verymuch and go eval a friend,

(23:42):
goodbye all.
Thank you.
