Speaker 1 (00:45):
Thank you, hello and
welcome to the Pig and Whistle
Tales from Azeroth.
As always here at the Pig andWhistle Inn in Stormwind, we go
through a variety of subjectswith regards to World of
Warcraft.
If I grab a bottle or a pint, sit back and enjoy this episode.
(01:06):
We'll be going over a fewthings more mop related, a
couple bits and bobs here andthere, but mostly to do with
missa pandaria, I think.
Um, over the next couple weeksit's going to be very mainly
midnight focused and stuff.
So we'll get the mop stuff outof the way here and now and then
we can really focus and hone inon that.
But there is still somemidnight content in this episode
(01:28):
for you guys.
So we will start off with theweekly news.
As always, we have kordak andthe godfather as your world
bosses for this week.
Also, we have a new world bossfor the week, rational.
Now there's a bit ofcontroversy with this guy, so
I'll leave that until after theweekly stuff.
But he is located within kvett, kashik, kvesh as a vesh.
(01:54):
I've forgotten the name of theworld.
Koresh, koresh.
There we go, we got it.
We got it.
Uh, he is located within koreshand, yes, I'll get on to why he
is a bit of a problem.
In the second uh, arenaskirmishes are your bonus event
for the week.
This is simply you get morehonor for competing in arenas.
Very simple, and the brawl forthis week is shadow pan showdown
(02:17):
.
This is a 6v6, where you haveto defeat a enemy boss whilst
battling the opposition in thearena at the exact same time.
Very simple first to kill, theboss wins.
It's that simple.
So let's start off with Rationorand Midnight.
Rationor is the new world bossthat is located within Koresh,
(02:40):
and people are having a lot ofproblems with him because it
takes multiple raids to kill him.
Okay, it's apparently having alot of problems with him because
it takes multiple raids to killhim.
Okay, it's apparently taking alot of raids to kill rational,
and it's taking a lot of deathsto do so.
Now, what a lot of people don'tknow about this boss is that
when he goes untargetable, he isactually still targetable.
(03:01):
You're meant to utilize yournew Reshi wraps, which you have
in this patch, and go into phasediving.
Once you go into phase diving, you can continue to attack him.
Okay, it's that simple.
Dodge mechanics don't be stupid.
Get good, okay, but he doeshave a lot of health.
Okay, he's a little bitovertuned and he does one-shot,
(03:22):
so I would be careful still.
But yeah, this is why a lot ofpeople are kind of complaining
about him, um, but I think thatthey'll either keep him that
difficulty and just being like, deal with it, or they will be
very much reluctant, or they'llbe more like, yeah, we, we
(03:44):
should nerf him, kind of deal.
If they nerf him.
It seems a bit weird, though.
World bosses are meant to bethat bosses and they're meant to
be tough and they're meant tobe scary.
You don't want to come acrossthem and then kill them with
five people.
You want to come across themand have big raid groups where
it's like, oh shit, we needeveryone to kill this guy
because he's a big threat, um,so I would like to see them keep
(04:06):
it the same.
But hey, it is what it is, itis what it is.
So there is another thing thatI wanted to talk about very
quickly on Midnight.
Now, midnight is obviously veryclose to being announced.
This announcement will happenanywhere between two and three
weeks whenever the gamescomhappens.
(04:29):
So on the 19th of august iswhen we're probably going to get
the information, if not the20th.
Yeah, so we're going to get atrailer for it, we're going to
get pre-orders, we're going toget dates for it, and all of
that.
But what if I told you therewas already a way to pre-order,
and this is obviously somethingthat was leaked.
(04:50):
I say leaked, but it wasdropped and it shouldn't have
been dropped.
Okay, you can't actuallypre-order it now, by the way,
but if you were to go onto aseparate WoW account that isn't
paid for, like a wow two, wowthree, whatever and you logged
on to a character and you wenton to the store and you went on
(05:13):
to character, the character tabin that store, you could have
pre-ordered midnight and itshowed the perks as to what you
could get with the pre-order,and a couple of these perks are
obviously stuff like, um, earlyaccess to player housing and a
(05:34):
couple other cosmetics for yourplayer housing, these sort of
things.
Okay, now there's a couple ofadditions to this.
There's the base, uh, pre-order.
There's obviously a heroicpre-order.
They each have their owndifferent things.
They give traders tendies, theygive like character boosts and
stuff, all this type of likestuff.
But that's a real big like ballto drop on blizzard's behalf,
(05:58):
that that you could literally goon to like, wow live world of
warcraft and pre-order it.
That's not a leak, that's abull being dropped by someone at
blizzard and it's quite funny,to be honest.
Obviously it's not thereanymore, so I wouldn't attempt
doing this.
I definitely wouldn't attemptbuying it now, if and if it's
still up there, um, as I imagineit's not quite ready to be
(06:23):
pre-ordered, it probably is.
No product is ready when it ispre-ordered, but you might get
some backlash with it with yourmoney.
You might not actually get thepre-order and you might lose
your money, who knows.
But yeah, they really messed upthere.
But it's good to see that weare most likely if not we
(06:44):
already knew going to get amidnight pre-order on the 19th
or 20th, to be able to go on tomidnight and hopefully we'll get
a date for when this expansionreleases on these dates at
Gamescom on the 19th or the 20th.
So here's only hoping that weget that date.
(07:04):
But yeah, they did kind of dropthe ball with the pre-order.
Um, it's quite, it is quitefunny.
My thoughts on it in terms ofearly access to player housing.
That that feels kind of shit.
I'm not gonna lie because, look, I'm gonna pre-order.
Okay, I've always pre-orderedan expansion.
(07:27):
I'm not pre-ordering it for theearly access.
I'm not pre-ordering foranything.
I pre-order because I know it'sa game that I'm going to play.
Um, it's a comfort game thatI've played all my life and I
just know that I'm going to makeuse out of the pre-order and
the game itself.
So I will always just buy itwhen I can kind of deal.
(07:48):
Now, this is awful for otherpeople, though, who aren't able
to pre-order it and were lookingforward to player housing,
because when someone loads up agame and they have something
that you do not have in thatgame, you feel kind of shitty
about it.
Ok, now I know that this is howthey get you to buy the
pre-order, because it makes youfeel awful that you don't have
(08:10):
something that this other playerdoes because they pre-ordered
all of that nonsense.
But player housing should havebeen a universal thing that was
allowed access to everyone atthe exact same time.
Flip a switch, there you go.
There's your housing, go andenjoy it.
Everyone go and enjoy it, andyou would have a universal sort
(08:34):
of love for that mechanic in thegame at that point.
But it puts a sour taste inyour mouth when you get early
access to something via apre-order.
In my honest opinion, it's likewhen you pre-order anything
else and you get something thatis just better and useful in a
(08:55):
game that other people wouldjust not have.
Now I'm not saying playerhousing is useful in any way.
I'm not saying that it's goingto make or break the characters
or anything.
It isn't okay.
It's purely cosmetic based.
But it's something that playerbase of world of warcraft have
been wanting for nearly 20 years.
(09:16):
Um, and to allow people peopleto have earlier access to it is
a little bit of a kick in theballs to those who can't get the
pre-order.
But yeah, they will always findways to put more incentives in
pre-orders so that people buy it.
(09:37):
Essentially, it's just that way.
Yeah, it just leaves a bit of asour taste in the mouth with
the pre-order and the earlyaccess.
That's all I'm gonna say on it.
That's all I'm gonna say on it.
Look, I think that it won't bethat much longer that people
have player housing when theypre-order.
I think it's going to be abouta week, two weeks, if that two
(10:01):
weeks I would say.
Usually it's about a week, likewhere they open up the new
lands or the new zones to people.
I think they did this inDragonflight, where you could
access Dragon Isles like a weekearlier for those who
pre-ordered or got a specificpre-order, and I really don't
like it.
(10:21):
It does help, though, in thefact or in the sense that the
servers aren't necessarily goingto be blown up at that time and
you're going to get multipledisconnects.
I think they maybe should havedone this with Pandaria a little
bit, in terms of they shouldhave segmented.
No, how do you do that with mob?
Because it's an expansion, it'san entire expansion.
(10:43):
I don't know.
As long as they don't do itwith midnight zones and it's
just player housing, I thinkI'll be content with it.
If they open up midnight zones, that's a whole different bowl
of worms.
Okay, that is a no-go for meand it's really bad if they do
that.
But the player housing is theonly one I know about as of this
current moment.
So we will see, uh, in about acouple weeks time, less or less
(11:06):
than a couple weeks timeactually.
So who knows, who knows.
But let us get on to more of themr pandaria stuff at the moment
.
So a couple days ago, weobviously got a release schedule
for the next raids as well, andthis is really good.
So mogul shun vaults justrecently released I believe it
was last sunday, yeah, the third, yeah, yeah the third or the
(11:33):
31st somewhere last week of july, slash august, okay.
And now we're getting, uh,celestial dungeonsgeons on
August the 12th.
We are getting Heart of Fear onAugust 21st.
We're getting Shard of Angerand Galleon Drop Tier 14 gear,
which is really good on August26th.
(11:54):
So they're constantly updatingthe world bosses as well, very
good.
We are getting CelestialDungeons Hall of Fame for
Celestial Rewards on theSeptember 2nd Celestial Dungeon
Hall of Fame.
I'll go over that in a second.
On September 4th we're gettingTerrorists of Endless Springs
Raid and September 16th we aregetting Terrorists of Endless
(12:17):
Springs Celestial Rewards.
Okay, so the Celestial Dungeonsare dungeons that are basically
Hero, basically heroic plus, andthey have looking for raid gear
in the dungeons themselves.
You can collect the tier setsfrom these raids and that are no
longer available because thereis no looking for raid and you
can do the dungeons and they candrop these currencies and you
(12:39):
can use this currency to buy thelooking for a tier set.
This is how to gear up altcharacters.
If you need to.
This is the best way to do itand essentially, um, this is,
yeah, the best way to gear anysort of character, because the
tier sets are very important, uh, just for any sort of character
in general.
But if you're in a guild andyou're raiding constantly, you
(13:00):
shouldn't need these dungeons.
They are very much for altcatch-up mechanics, very, very
much so.
So heart of fear unlocks, obviously on the 21st.
This is a six boss raid andyou're going to have the
subsequent achievements with it,as well as realm firsts and
stuff like that.
So, very simple same with heartof fear, um, no sorry.
(13:21):
Same with Heart of Fear, no,sorry.
Same with Terrace of EndlessSprings.
This release is full forSeptember Four bosses Now.
This is a lot shorter of a raid, I should say, but again, comes
with all of the achievements, comes with all of the different
world first achievements andstuff.
It's very good, as well as theguild achievements, meta
(13:42):
achievements you will be able toearn.
So if you complete all four ofthe bosses on Heroic in what is
it?
Terrace of Endless Springs, andcomplete all challenge
achievements, for each boss youget Heavily Crimson Cloud
(14:02):
terrorist offender springs.
And for the meta achievementfor heart of fear, you get
heavenly crimson cloud serpent.
Okay, this is complete, all sixbosses on heroic and complete
all the achievements for eachboss.
So you obviously have the metaachievements.
These are the big ones that alot of guilds would maybe like
to go for, but obviously youjust have better gear going
(14:26):
forward and hopefully we shallsee a release cadence quite
similar to this, to be honest, going forward, where you're
releasing raids constantly.
I think that the next raid thatwe will see is what is the next
raid?
It's not a throne of thunder.
It might be thrown a thunder, running thunder.
(14:50):
5.2.
Siege of orgrim are 5.4.
What was 5.3?
I'm missing a raid.
It will come back to me.
It will come back to me, butthey want to do sort of a year
release cadence.
Okay, now this release is everyfew months for a new raid.
Okay, we're going to getTerrace of Endless Springs end
(15:11):
or beginning of September, whichis a month away.
I would imagine that we'regoing to see the next raid
November time, maybe mainlybecause Mogushan Vaults released
August 12th or, sorry, lastweek, around early August, and
this would coincide with therelease cadence that they wanted
(15:32):
, which is every few months.
This is matching the Mists ofPandaria release cadence and
hopefully they do stick to thatnarrative, but I would say
November or December time forthe new raid to come out, or the
next raid, and then this givesyou a lot of time to do Mogushan
Vault, heart of Fear andTerrace of Endless Springs.
(15:52):
However you want to do them withyour guild.
Very simple.
There's a few things thatpeople are not happy about,
though, and obviously on theforums, people get a little bit
pissy, so some of these aregoing to be ridiculous and I'm
just going to say you're beingstupid and shut it down.
Some of these are going to be abit more like oh yeah, that
kind of makes sense.
I'll get to them this one, though.
(16:14):
No, looking for raid toencourage guild raiding but then
allow GDKP.
Still Lol, talk aboutcontradiction, that's it OK.
Still, lol, talk aboutcontradiction, that's it okay.
Looking for raid is somethingthat you click a button and you
sign up for.
Yeah, they have changed lookingfor raid so that when celestial
dungeons come out, they aregoing to be the gear from them.
(16:38):
Raids are going to be in thedungeons.
Very simple gdkps are pug groups.
Our groups happened in classicpug groups happened in tbc wrath
, cataclysm, all throughout.
Wow, okay, even in retail.
There are these pug raids thatsay, oh, come, like, buy this.
(17:00):
Essentially, come buy thispiece of gear, come buy your
achievement.
Okay, for gold.
That's what gdkps are.
You buy your gear and then itgets divvied out at the end.
Gdkps are different toeverything.
Gdkps are a community-basedproblem, not a blizzard problem.
We as a community have deemedthat gdkps is the best way to
(17:23):
raid at the moment rather thanjust normal pugging.
And this is because GDKPs, youbuy your item for 1000 gold.
Ok, it's going to be a lot morein Mists of Pandaria, I know,
but we're going to say 1000 gold.
This 1000 gold goes into a pot.
The pot is then, at the end ofthe raid, divvied, or, you know,
(17:45):
added up and then divvied outamongst the raiders.
So if there's 10 raiders andyou've made 10,000 gold at the
end of the raid, so you all get1,000 gold, obviously people
will take a different cut.
The raid leader might take 20%,so 200 gold, et cetera, et
cetera.
But that's how GDKPsps work.
This is a community-basedproblem, not a blizzard problem.
(18:08):
It's not a contradiction,because they're two completely
different things as wellridiculous.
I get that people don't likegdkps.
I don't like them as well, Idon't think that they're amazing
.
I don't think they're bad.
To be honest, I think thatthey're just there.
If people want to use them, they are more than welcome to.
If people don't, they don'tthink they're bad.
To be honest, I think thatthey're just there.
If people want to use them, they are more than welcome to.
If people don't, they don'thave to.
It's as simple as that.
(18:29):
Okay, but it's not acontradiction.
This guy is just, yeah, being abit stupid with that.
I'm not going to lie.
I get people don't like it, butit's not a Blizzard problem, it
is a us problem.
That the way it is.
If we all just decided, yeah,we don't want to do gdkps, they
wouldn't exist.
That's how simple it is.
(18:50):
If people didn't want to dogdkps, they just wouldn't exist.
And I would say that they'requite good.
Um, in terms of if you want todo the raid, they are very
efficient at doing the raid.
Okay, these GDKP groups arevery, very good at raiding.
They're not like slobs by anymeans.
(19:10):
They are very, very solidraiders.
So if people don't have a lotof time, this might be their
best bet.
It's also a good way to makegold, but you know, it is a
community problem at the end ofthe day, not a Blizzard one.
Next one do you want whatclassic?
Now, this one piqued myinterest because they recently
(19:30):
did a survey and the survey, uh,asked quite a few things.
Did we want to go into world?
Uh, warlords of draenor andthen legion.
Did we want to go into retailworld of warcraft and have all
the mogs transfer onto there?
Did you want to go back toclassic?
Yeah, not sure about that one,um, but this person asked what
(19:51):
do you want to happen to classic?
Do you want to have yourcharacters transferred to retail
, as blizzard supposedlysuggested in a recent poll?
You want to get what classic doyou want to go?
What then legion?
You want them to skip ward andgo straight to legion.
You want to get whatOD thenLegion.
Do you want them to skip WODand go straight to Legion?
Do you want to get WOD Classic, but with changes, ie Shattrath,
ray, tyr or Feralon, and inthis Classic journey kept going.
(20:14):
Where should it stop?
Legion Is the idea for aClassic BFA just way too cursed
Opinions?
This is a very important topic.
I would say that it is a veryimportant topic.
In my honest opinion, it'sreally tough.
I would say classic goes upuntil you reached when it
(20:37):
released.
Okay, what do I mean by that?
So when classic released in2019, we were currently in
battle slash shadowlands.
Yeah, I think we go up until bfa, and I am no fan of bfa.
(20:57):
Okay, I am a real big no-go onbfa.
But a lot of people who cameback to play classic may never
have experienced theseexpansions, and this is what I'm
like.
My other half, who plays wow, started in bfa, late bfa, like
classic.
She has never gotten toexperience missa pandaria, wrath
(21:21):
of the lich king, burningcrusade, cataclysm um, warlords
of draenor legion all of theseexpansions and a lot of other
people haven't as well.
That is the only reason I thinkthat you would allow this to go
on to bfa, because it allowspeople to experience these
expansions as they were duringthe expansion itself, not after
(21:43):
the fact, where it's like, ohcool, I can walk into a raid and
one shot a boss kind of deal, but fully experience the
expansion.
And then I would like it tomorph into retail and you get
all the transmogs from retail orin retail.
That's what I would like.
Okay, and this works in myopinion, because you have
(22:05):
classic, classic now.
So classic classic is currentlyin oh my god, I'm going to be
saying this way too many timesin vanilla in in Classic World
of Warcraft.
Okay, it is in the originalWorld of Warcraft.
This is going to move on to theBurning Crusade.
This will they have confirmedit.
So when this released, whichwas last year or this year, I
(22:30):
can't remember, I think it waslast year we're in AQ right now,
so it might have been this year, I can't remember.
I think it was last year.
We're in a queue right now, soit might have been this year.
But in 2025 we are currently inthe war within slash
dragonflight.
We'll say that classic canmaybe go up to dragonflight.
Do you see where I'm going withthis?
And then when they get to wrathof the lich king or cataclysm
(22:51):
again, then they will releaseclassic, classic, classic or
whatever.
Does this make sense?
Where I'm going?
Because if they constantlyrelease a classic, that is, a
few expansions behind, this willalways be a consistent thing.
People can play that expansion, people can play classic if they
(23:14):
want.
People can play TBC when itcomes out Wrath of the Lich King
, but the retail version of WoWwill always keep going and
people may not experience theseversions of WoW, newer players,
people might not haveexperienced Shadowlands, people
might not have experiencedDragonfly.
So every single Classic yourelease, you go up an extra two
(23:35):
expansions.
So you stop at BFA for thisclassic, this Mists of Pandaria
classic, and then the nextclassic classic that's moving
into TBC will go up toShadowlands after BFA and then
Dragonflight.
It stops there, but then we'regoing to get Midnight soon.
So the next classic thatreleased classic times three
(23:58):
we'll just call it, because I'mnot saying that three times this
will go up to the War of In andthen Midnight.
So do you see what I'm kind ofgetting at here?
That's kind of what I wouldthink they might do, because it
would have a constant releasecadence of okay, every three
expansions for classic there's anew classic server that comes
out.
That means that people who wanta classic fresh can start fresh
(24:20):
and constantly do it.
That's what they want.
That is what people want inclassic.
They want to restart fresh.
Okay, we've tried theanniversary servers.
The anniversary servers areconstantly in classic, okay, and
they are dying because peoplewant to just feel the nostalgia
of restarting a character.
That's it.
People want that nostalgia ofyeah, we've restarted this
(24:42):
character.
That's what I want and that'skind of why there's always going
to be a classic classicre-releasing.
So this is my idea of it and atake on it, because it allows
people to focus on transmogs forretail, but in classic as well,
because eventually that willget transferred to retail.
(25:02):
If you never earned an atiashback in classic, you will get
that on retail.
If you picked up a mage and youreally wanted to farm it, or
warlock or a druid and youreally wanted to farm it with a
guild, you can get atih and theneventually it'll go onto your
retail account.
Yeah, does that make sense?
And then the next time classicreleases you go warrior and you
get them sort of mobs where youget a thunder fury like an
(25:25):
actual earned thunder furyduring classic, you know, in
molten core and stuff.
So I think that that's the bestway to do it.
Again, it would need ironing out, it would need a lot of
different things, but that's offthe top of my head.
I don't think it's a bad ideabecause it allows people to
experience these expansions whenthey haven't done in the past.
I think that this is somethingthat keeps the game fresh
(25:50):
somewhat.
The only problem that we wouldhave is obviously retail would
get to a point where it's a lotof expansions and Classic is
trying to keep up, okay, butthey would have to do a release
cadence every couple months orsomething.
It's like a couple months onthis raid tier, a couple months
on next, like they would reallypower through the raids, okay,
(26:10):
and that's not really fun.
You wouldn't be stuck on likeum icc for eight months kind of
deal.
Yeah.
So we'll see.
We will see.
In my opinion, I think we gowarlords of draenor classic
though into legion and then westop at legion or bfa, bfa again
.
I know it's not a greatexpansion, same with shadow, but
(26:31):
they can clean up theseexpansions.
They can see what was wrong inthese expansions and be like,
yeah, we will amend this andthat's what I hope that they
would do.
Going forward in Classic.
Classic, like in Warlords ofDraenor, I hope that they just
have like, either the Shattrathraid, which would be really cool
, because that's something thatno one has experienced or they
(26:52):
just release like content interms of like, okay, this is
what was released in warlords ofdraenor.
There wasn't much.
But instead of a year gap wherethere was no content, we will
release this within like a sixmonth period.
Warlords of draenor will onlybe six months, kind of deal, um.
And then in legion, obviouslyyou have a lot more content and
we'll release it the samerelease cadence that, um.
And then in legion, obviouslyyou have a lot more content and
(27:13):
we'll release it the samerelease cadence that we did back
in legion, which is every, Ithink, 61 days or something.
It was on average.
It was so good the releaseschedule for legion.
But that's kind of my thoughtson it.
But yeah, what, what do you guysthink?
Do you think that we shouldcarry on with classic?
Do you think the classics arestupid at this point?
(27:34):
What do you think?
But let me know down below.
Again, thank you all very muchfor listening.
Do check out all of the socialsdown below.
Constant stuff happening overthere as well as etsy just
recently got a scythe of a loonthat went up on there.
It's really cool, I'm so happywith it.
I don't think there's anyoneelse doing a scythe of a loom 3d
printed, so please do check itout.
(27:56):
It's absolutely amazing.
I'm very happy with it, um.
But yeah, thank you all verymuch once again and go with
valor, friend, goodbye, all dodo, thank you.
