Speaker 1 (00:37):
Thank you do.
Hello and welcome to the Pigand Whistle Tales from Azeroth.
As always here at the Pig andWhistle Inn in Stormwind, I go

(00:59):
for a variety of subjects withregards to World of Warcraft, so
grab a bottle or a pint, sitback and enjoy this episode.
We will be continuing with thesurvey that came out a little
while back from Blizzard askingthe player base what they might
want to see in a Classic Plusversion of World of Warcraft,

(01:21):
but, as always, we have theweekly news to go through.
Kordak and the Gobfather areyour weekly world bosses for the
week.
Wall of the Drain or TimeWalking, as well as World Quests
, are your bonus event for theweek.
You can get cosmetics, mounts, reputations from Wall of the
Drain or Time Walking, as wellas getting more reputation for

(01:41):
completing World Quests duringthis week.
Arathiizzard is your brawl forthe week.
This is a different take onarathi basin.
This is simply arathi basinthat is snowed over by a
blizzard.
So it's uh, the terrain isactually very different.
It's vastly different, and Iwould very much recommend doing
it, because it's quite a coolscene, to be honest with you,

(02:04):
but let's jump straight into it.
You guys have been waiting awhile to hear the rest of this.
So we will jump straight intothe like rest of this.
So to go over this again, theI'm going to be reading out the
feature of it and then there isa small description that
blizzard have given and I willbe giving my opinions on it.
If it's good, bad, indifferent, and we'll go from there.

(02:28):
So the first one is Honor SystemRedesign.
Now you might be thinkingdidn't we cover this one in the
last episode?
No, they actually did kind ofsomething similar.
They did Honor Rewards Redesign.
Honor Rewards okay, this isHonor System Redesign.
They did on a rewards redesign.
On a rewards OK, this is on asystem redesign, a ground up

(02:48):
redesign of the honor system, removing the hard honor cap,
making the system more evergreenand continually engaging.
I think this is needed.
I don't think that they go tothe retail version.
I think they test out acompletely different version in
Classic Plus, think they testout a completely different

(03:09):
version in classic plus.
And I say this because if theyfigure out a way to do this in
classic plus, then they canbring this into retail and other
versions of world of warcraftif it is successful, because the
rating system at this currenttime in WoW is very bad.
Okay, it isn't effective at alland it feels.
It feels sad to play sometimesbecause of how it works.

(03:33):
I've gone over how it works somany times, I'm not going to go
over again, but it just feelsvery upsetting.
So if they do manage to do anhonor redesign system, I think
that it's very good and the waythat the honor design happens in
classic it's very much.
You keep grinding for severalhours a day if you wanted to
push rank 14.
They have obviously made this abit easier because we're no

(03:56):
longer in lockdown in covid fiveyears ago.
So, um, yeah, obviously peopledon't have eight hours to spend
just queuing Battlegrounds.
But I think that a new redesignwould be really cool I really
really do and I think that itwould allow more gameplay
mechanics, because the way thatyou do the current honor grind
is very much go into aBattleground If you're going to

(04:19):
win it, great.
If you don't, you lose and gonext quickly.
That's it.
That's kind of the it for pvp.
There isn't actually a attemptto win at the battleground or
win an arena or obviouslythere's arenas in classic, but
there might be, but you knowwhat I mean.
There isn't an attempt to winit.

(04:40):
It's very much go and get somekills if we win, great if we
don't, and kind of meh, but itshould have consequences to it.
So I would say yes to this, butonly a slight redesign, maybe
something completely differentand out of the blue, just to
test it, and they can testmultiple set like things with
this, I would say.
Next one is war mode as analternative to PvP servers.

(05:04):
This mode would allow you toopt into PvP in open world via a
toggle in the main factioncities.
Now you're going to say no tothis one.
A lot of people will, I thinkyes, and the reason I say yes
okay, this is strictly thereason I say yes is this way it

(05:25):
will reduce server populationsOkay, not reduce them like there
will be a shortage of playersin terms of there will be less
servers.
Therefore, the servers that areup allow for more community and
more sort of interaction withplayers, because there's
obviously more people on thisserver.
The people who want to PvP areallowed to opt in and out.

(05:49):
If you wanted to do some PvP,more than welcome to.
But when you get toStranglethorn Vale and start
getting killed by an undeadrogue, then you want to opt out
and get through that sort ofzone, then it's like, okay, yeah
, fair enough, and you can dothat.
So I would say yes to this.
I would reluctantly say yes tothis and I think that it would
be a feature that a lot ofpeople would actually enjoy and

(06:14):
this will separate the peoplewho actually PvP and who don't
PvP in Classic, because peoplelike to brag that they're on a
PvP server but sitting allgrimoire all day doing nothing
and AFKing.
You know it is what it is Brandnew zones, completely new
unplayable areas with uniquelore added to Eastern Kingdoms
and Kalimdor.
Now we're not talking aboutMount Hyjal or Oldum or anything

(06:36):
like that.
We're talking about new, newzones.
We're talking about Gilligum'sIsland kind of thing.
Is that in WoW?
No, it was something else, itwas named something else, but
there were islands in the alphaor the beta of World of Warcraft
that were cut from the actuallaunch of the game.
So you could have stuff likethis that's a bit more enhanced

(06:59):
and can deal with the Gurubashitrolls and lead into Zul'Gurub
and stuff like that.
I would say yes, because anyclassic plus would like new
zones means that you could getnew content.
You could have world eventsthere.
You can have multiple, likedifferent things that happen
there and this will keep theworld feeling alive until a new

(07:19):
raid comes out.
And don't forget, this isobviously potentially where a
new dungeon can arise from these, like new zones or a new raid
or anything along them lines.
So by all means, I think newzones would be amazing, even
Dragon Isles, because it wasmeant to be in classic of the
Dragon Isles, strangely enough, but that was cut.
Content as well.
That was meant to be level 60to 70, apparently content, or 60

(07:42):
plus to 70, apparently, uh,content or 60 plus.
So very curious to see if theydo that, but I would imagine
they do.
The zones that are thereoriginally, high jow, oldham,
stuff like that, you knowbecause it's there, the landmass
is there, they just need to addon to it.
Basically, next one is 20 andI'm gonna say 40 player rates.

(08:03):
I'm gonna throw these two inthe same category because I'm
just going to go raiding.
But new 20 and 40 focused raiddungeons Are they called raid
dungeons?
I never knew that, butessentially, yes, these need to
be a staple point of ClassicPlus because you cannot
re-release Montcourt intoBlackwing, lair into Uncarrage

(08:26):
into Naxxramas again and againand again and again and again
and again.
You have to have something new.
Scarlet Enclave is a greatexample.
It was really good.
I never played it and I knowthat sounds hilarious.
It's really good, but I neverplayed it.
I watched a lot of people playit and I saw that Blizzard

(08:48):
actually put a lot of time andeffort into the place, with the
boss fights, with the looks, thefeels, the whole Ashbringer
stuff, everything, and I thoughtit was so unique and well done
that it was the best part ofSeason of Discovery.
Same with Karazhan Crypts, dungeons and stuff.
These things that weren't inwow originally wow classic being

(09:08):
implemented into season ofdiscovery were so good and well
loved by the community that theyneed to do more raids.
20 and 40 player.
This is a no-brainer.
Okay, this one.
Graphical improvements tolighting, shadows and surface
reflections Using moderntechnology to improve the

(09:29):
lighting engine in the game formore realistic lights, shadows,
reflections on surfaces likewater and glass.
I don't think this is bad.
I think that people should havethe option to turn it off and
on because they would like theidea of the OG classic feel, but
I don't think that this wouldbe too bad.
I think you could throw it inlike colorblind mode kind of

(09:50):
where, if you need it or want it, like you can have it, but it's
not a necessity, becauseobviously, well, for some people
it might be, but honestly it'snot that big of a deal.
I think throw this one in anyway.
People can and can't opt tochange it as they want.
Ok, I think it's very simpleNew trade skills, new primary

(10:13):
and secondary professions.
I want to say yes and no.
The only reason I say yes is ifthey do the graphical
improvements to lighting.
Now, what I mean by this is ifthey do the graphical
improvements to lighting andthey make Duskwood as dark as it

(10:35):
can be and stuff like that, that would open the way for new
professions and trade skillssuch as survival.
Ok, now, this was in like veryearly alpha, but duskwood was
pitch black not pitch black, butvery, very dark, and the way
that you navigated this zone wasthrough survival.
Uh, this was a trade skill thatessentially allowed you to

(10:58):
craft torches to light your way,and it's a really cool little
feature and, I think, somethingthat should have been done, but
at the same time, theprofessions are so perfect in
how they match up with eachother.
Herbalism, alchemy, tailoringis kind of just on its own with
cloth.
You got blacksmithing, mining, engineering, mining, you have

(11:19):
herbalism, like, and justeverything else.
Like it all matches soperfectly.
Adding a new trade skill wouldbe very tough, because then it's
suddenly like oh, what do youneed more of more herbs, more
minerals, or do you add anothersecondary profession, which is
um survival, where it's a mixbetween all herbing, skin

(11:43):
skinning and mining, but you canonly choose one at a certain
time or day?
You know that sort of thing, Idon't know.
I would say no to new tradeskills, I really would, because
I think that there's a perfectamount of them and they're all
so well done in how theyfunction within the game that it

(12:06):
would be tough to throw inanother trade skill.
Okay, I think that it justwould, and I think it would be
very messy, to say the least.
Graphical texture improvementsand resolution upgrade using
modern technology to improve thefiddly fiddly.
No idea Of textures used inclassic art assets.

(12:30):
Again, I think graphicaltextures.
I think they should just be putin anyway and you should have
the option to turn them off andon as and when you wish.
I don't think this would harmanyone.
I think it's just going to be apersonal preference and there
is no point in not doing it inmy honest opinion.
New battleground yes, all right.
Next one um, obviously, newobjective based pvp instance.

(12:54):
This goes without saying.
I think that you might need toevery other phase of classic.
Plus, you can add a newbattleground, and the thing is
they have loads.
Okay, they had one that was inthe alpha, which was the azhara
battleground, but it never gotput to into the game.

(13:16):
So they do have these fileslying around and could utilize
these assets and this map likepull and design.
So it is a potential candidatefor this, but I I think that
they would need to release oneevery couple of phases, in my
honest opinion, and I think thatthat would only be fair.
Um, if new raids get added, then only fair.

(13:36):
New battlegrounds get added forthose who wanted a new pvp
experience.
New race and class combinations, new class race combinations,
including those that neverbefore seen in warcraft.
Yeah, screw it, I'm down.
I'm so down.
Maybe the new race and classcombinations is a bit weird, I

(14:00):
think.
Just a new race and a new class, and it can be shared by both
horde and alliance, kind of likepandaren obviously not pandaren
, but like naga or something Idon't know.
Um, but it should have its ownunique class.
You can only be this class withthis race kind of deal.
That would be very classic.

(14:22):
Okay, it really would.
Um, I think it's a no-brainer.
No, I don't know.
People would be like, oh my god, but how would that affect
raiding?
How would that affect dungeons?
What do they do?
Where's their place in?
Well, it's classic, everyoneplaces one button rotation, and
this class might press two.
You know there's going to besomething broken about the class

(14:44):
, there's going to be somethingstupid about the class.
It's classic, that's what'sgoing to happen.
Okay, mages can aoe, pull anentire dungeon.
Warriors can randomly one shotyou with an execute.
Warriors do an insane amount ofdamage with world buffs.
Rogues can ambush you from 100oh and keep you cc'd for a
minute.
You, you know, warlocks arejust gods, shadow Priests, gods,

(15:07):
unkillable.
You know, there's always somequirks with classics.
So, new class, I'm so down totest it out.
Just go crazy with it, I'm sodown.
And obviously, new class.
This would be a completely newversion to anything.
So not a death knight, a monk, demon hunter or evokers.

(15:29):
This will be a stargazer, atinkerer, something like that,
and I think that use it as atest run, genuinely use Classic
Plus as a testing zone.
I know that you had season ofdiscovery to do that, but season
of discovery was more thelimitations of what they can and

(15:51):
can't do to change classic.
And now that they know whatthey can and can't do, this is
what's going to happenessentially.
So I would say yes to a newclass and the combinations of
races and classes.
Next one when is it?
10 player raids, new 10 playerfocused raid dungeons.

(16:14):
Yes, I think that they'vegotten this idea, obviously from
Season of Discovery.
They saw how much of a successit was to have 20 man raids and
10 man raids and I think thatthey've gone.
Yeah, you know what this suitsthe more casual players, better,
because it's very toughnowadays to get 40 people all
together online for a raid.
It just is, it always has beenand it's always going to be a

(16:37):
nightmare.
10 player raids a lot moredoable.
Okay, we do it in uh katan nowmiss a pandaria classic, myself
and my guild.
So, yes, I would say 10 playerraids, 100, or you just scale it
down so, like zul grub will go10 player raid, but you can do
it as 20 man, but if you do itas 10 man you might get very

(17:00):
like slightly adjusted loot likeworse, by like two intellect or
two stamina kind of deal.
So it's not like a massive loss, but it's still not as good
kind of deal, maybe somethinglike that.
I would say yes, though, to thisidea cross realm guilds,
ability to invite your playerguild.

(17:26):
It's going to be tough.
It depends if they implementthe cross-realm interaction
stuff.
If they do, then you may aswell go full send with the
cross-realm guilds.
But I think that this one's ano.
This one is a no unless serversare forced together because of

(17:47):
the size of their population.
Okay, that's my opinion on this.
So I would say no to crossrealm guilds, but if your
servers are having to be forcedtogether in order to make it so
that your server doesn't diebecause there's no one playing
it, I would say yes.
Then you have to use the crossrealm guild stuff.
Transmogrification, the abilityto change the appearance of your

(18:09):
equipped item.
Transmogs will only be visiblein rested areas, dungeons or
raids, ie no open world pvp, nobattlegrounds, interesting.
So transmogs are literally justcosmetics for when you're sat
in the middle of a city.
Okay, I kind of like it,because the reason that they're

(18:31):
doing that is, if you're doingwell PvP, the person that let's
say a rogue, is in stealth andhe's walking up to a mage and
this mage is in rank 14 gear, but you ambush him and he's
walking up to a mage and thismage is in rank 14 gear, but you
ambush him and he diesimmediately.
Turns out that mage was level 60, dinged an hour ago and just

(18:53):
transmogged all of his gear tolook like the rank 14 set.
It's not really going to bebeneficial, but it's going to
hinder people because now, let'ssay that this mage is in greens
, he looks like he's at level 58and just dinged 60 kind of deal
.
That's sort of like what he'swearing.

(19:15):
The rogue walks up, ambusheshim or cheap shots, but it does
nothing.
This mage simply turns aroundor blinks out of the stun nova
and then just absolutelydemolishes him with one shot,
okay, with a shatter combo.
Suddenly that mage is wearingrank 14 armor, but you think

(19:36):
that he was just in greens, youknow.
So it can kind of make sensethat it can hinder you, like out
in the world, but cities.
You're just doing it purely forthe transmog and the looking
vibe of things.
I think that's very cool.
I don't think it should be inClassic Plus, though.
I think that Classic is such alovely game.

(20:02):
When you can't transmog yourgear, you're meant to look like
a ridiculous character, and Ithink that's a little bit of the
charm of it.
I genuinely do.
So.
I would say no to transmog.
I really, really would.
And the final one is going to besomething a bit different.

(20:22):
This is with regards to MrPandaria Classic, and this is
interesting.
Regardless of which version ofWoW is your current main version
?
What version of WoW do youthink will become your main
version in the future once MrPandaria ends?
There's multiple choices here.
So Classic Era, sovanilla-style servers with my

(20:47):
Mists of Pandaria character.
Okay, a different version ofClassic without my Mists of
Pandaria classic or character.
This is just re-releasingClassic, so it will be Classic
Classic Classic Retail slash.
Modern WoW with my Mists ofPandaria, charactersaria
characters.
Wrath of the lich king classic.
Or another earlier classicexpansion with my missa pandaria

(21:11):
character, classic warlords ofdraenor.
If it becomes available, apermanently frozen missa
Pandaria Classic realms with nofurther updates, and I did not
plan to continue playing WoWafter the end of Classic Mists
of Pandaria.
So there is a lot of choiceshere.

(21:31):
The two for me is Retail slash, modern WoW with my mop
character.
Okay, now the reason for this.
I have been able to collect somany things from classic.
Okay, I never got to playclassic.
Back in 2004 I would have beensix, yeah, so don't really think

(21:57):
I'd be, uh, doing that.
I never got to play classic, Ibarely got to play TBC.
I don't remember a lot of Wrath.
Don't remember a lot of Kata, barely remember anything about
Mob.
I remember bits.
This is where my memory startsto become, you know, fluent in
WoW.
Then you go Warlords of Draenor.
I remember this bit a littlebit more.

(22:17):
So the further along I got, themore I understood of WoW and
the more I was like oh okay, soI can collect these things for
transmog.
But obviously, when Cataclysmrolled around, I had no idea
what I was doing, so I missedout on so many transmogs and old
pieces of gear, purely becauseof my age and it was.
You know.

(22:38):
It's quite a little bitdisheartening and I can't do
anything about that.
To be honest, now I have spent alot of time on my classic
character.
I have dreamed about it movingto retail the classic characters
that I have, with all of thetransmogs that I've earned
throughout the years, all of themolten core, the blackwing lair

(23:01):
Lair, the Uncaraj, theNaxxramas gear, the OG Naxxramas
gear, the TBC stuff that I'vegotten Like.
I would love to unlock thesetransmogs and say, if you're a
hunter in retail, you've startedafter Cataclysm and you never

(23:23):
get got your roc de la.
Okay, and yet in classic yougot that roc de la.
You did well.
Back in 2019 you did moltencore.
You got the ancient petrifiedleaf from molten core and you
went and did the quest.
You killed the four demonsaround the corners of the world
in azeroth and you got that bowand you unlocked that transmog.

(23:43):
And now you have a chance tobring that character into retail
and you unlock that transmog inretail because you earned that
bow still, you earned thattransmog still.
Why wouldn't you do that?
How cool would that be?
Every time I see someone inretail walking around with an

(24:04):
anathema or a benediction, Istop and I'm like that is cool,
that is so cool.
That guy has played sinceclassic and that's really cool
to know.
And I get that that willdisappear.
Okay, but I still earn theseitems in classic when I played

(24:25):
it back in 2019.
And just because I couldn'tplay it back in 2004 doesn't
mean I don't deserve these itemsmore than you deserve them.
That's why I would like to movemy character to retail.
The next one To move mycharacter to retail the next one
Now you're going to hate me forthis Is to move on to Warlords
of Draenor.

(24:46):
Okay, now hear me out on this.
I would like to move toWarlords of Draenor Because,
firstly, the content on Warlordsof Draenor Was very good.
Well, it was good.
The raids and stuff Highlyregarded as some of the best,
but it was good.
Okay, the raids and stuffhighly regarded as some of the
best, but it was good.
The problem with WAD was thatthere was basically a year of

(25:08):
downtime.
There was a year of just nocontent, and that was shockingly
bad.
Okay, obviously, the releasecadence of the phases in
Warlords of Draenor would be alot shorter.
Therefore, we are not satwaiting for a year to do the new
raid or do a new dungeon oranything like that.
And the main reason is becauseI know that people never got to

(25:33):
experience warlords of draenor.
People never got to experiencemr pandaria before this.
People didn't get to experiencecataclysm, wrath of the l, the
Lich King, burning CrusadeLegion, battle for Azeroth.
People didn't experience theseexpansions.
They started playing in the WarWithin.
They started playing inDragonflight.
You know they started playingreally late on in WoW's life.

(25:56):
So it will give these players achance to experience that
expansion as it was in therelease period of it, and I
think that that is reallysomething special that they
would enjoy and it's somethingthat you guys should regard as
something that is quitefortunate.

(26:18):
You can have a do-over on howyou played Warlords of Draenor.
I played Warlords of Draenor.
I played warlords of draenorsitting in my garrison most of
the time.
That's how most people playedit.
But I would want to go out.
I would want to do the garrisoninvasions with people, with my
friends, with people that I likeplay the game with, like this
would be cool.

(26:38):
I'd want to do pet battles withthem more.
I would want to do tanan jungleinvasions.
I'd want to do the raids.
I never did the raids inclassic tbc, wrath, mop,
cataclysm legion.
I didn't do any of these raidsin any expansion, but since
classic I have done every singleraid because I never got to
experience it like when I wasgrowing up.

(27:01):
But playing these expansionsand that is what I'm doing in
classic I'm changing how Iplayed it and seeing it from a
different perspective.
But, yeah, I think that whatshould be the go-to, I think
that Legion will probably be theend of where classic is like.

(27:21):
It's a good stopping point toend at legion.
But I hope excuse me, I hopethat they carry on.
And it's not because I want todo shadowlands again, not
because I want to do bfa.
These things did have somethingto offer, these expansions, and
people should get at least theopportunity to attempt and like,

(27:42):
play them.
That's all really.
That's the main thing, becausea lot of people have never got
to all it is and it might holdsome memories for people who
have played in the past.
People might have loved onesthat they've lost and they
played, let's say, shadowlandsevery single day with them and

(28:03):
in Shadowlands they lost theirloved ones.
In that time period they hold aspecial feeling towards that
expansion or a zone there orsomething like that, and that
would be really cool to go fullcircle and people get to
experience that and you knowthat sort of thing.

(28:23):
I think that that's the mainimportant thing.
All of these options, though, are very valid.
You know all of them are, andit's a very much personal
opinion.
