Today we have a very specialguest astrue rate from New York
we have a she's a pizza lover, apinup model and an aspiring
actress. Her name is Luna andshe's beautiful.
Oh, thank you. How are you doingtoday? Luna? I'm good. How are
(01:17):
you? I'm good. I first wanted tostart off by asking how do you
how did you get Luna x Mars?
Like what's the x?
luna (01:26):
Yes. So this is it's kind
of a long story. But I'll try to
make it short.
I went to school for filmmaking.
And while I was in college, Iwanted to make a comedy short
series for YouTube. And it wasgoing to be about a girl who
loves karaoke. And it was goingto be like a mockumentary. So
(01:48):
you know, she takes it way tooseriously. And she's super
competitive. And she just likeloves karaoke. So I was looking
for a name for the character.
And I want to do something thatI thought was a little silly. So
as a Bruno Mars fan, I said, Oh,Luna, Mars could be really fun
because Luna I love because ofLuna lovegood. And also from
(02:12):
Harry Potter. And my dad broughtme up in sci fi movies. So Luna
just seems like a really prettyYeah, I was like, Oh yeah, Luna
would be great. And then LunaMars, because now Bruno Mars. So
at first I started kind of as ajoke. I was just trying to be
funny with it.
And then when I started to dopinup, I had to look for a name.
(02:32):
I was like, Well, what do I wantmy name to be? And that had kind
of already stuck with me knowLuna Mars. So when I went to
Instagram, to take that name atLuna, Mars, someone had it.
Yeah, but it was she wasn't apinup model. I made sure she
wasn't a pinup model. She's justlike, you know, regular average
(02:53):
person says like, all right, well, let me put an X in the
middle. Maybe that's not takenand it wasn't. So it just,
that's how it came to be, whichis Luna x Mars. And then I was
like, Oh, the X is kind of likesexy. I like it.
Miss Pinup Miami (03:05):
It's like
exotic. Since you mentioned
pinup, I love to know how yougot into pinup. I love hearing
the story of how people get intoit and how you know, some of
these stories inspire people tobecome pinup suits. So if you
don't mind? Oh, no,
luna (03:22):
of course. So it first
started with my aunt's wedding.
I was looking for a dress. And Idon't know how I came across
pinup girl clothing, but I didat the time, and bought a dress
from them. And I felt sobeautiful in it. So my
background is when I was a baby,I was a model and into high
(03:42):
school, I went to modelingschool. And then in college, I
was doing filmmaking, modeling, acting and dance. So I'm just an
entertainer all around. That waskind of my world. So after I got
that dress, you know, I wasstill kind of on the radar of
like, kind of pro clothing. Ithought, you know, that's really
(04:03):
cool. They've got some reallybeautiful dresses. But the story
changes a little. So I got adress from I think it was cold.
It was a polka dot dress. And itwas made by she was on that TV
show. I can't remember her. Oh,Lauren, Lauren. Conrad. I think
(04:28):
I think is Lauren Conrad. Um,she had a line at Kohl's and
this dress was poke it up. So Iput it up on Instagram and I
hashtag pin up girl because youknow, you think polka dots you
think pin up girl. And out ofcuriosity, I tapped the hashtag
because this is when Instagramwas still new. So you know,
tapping a hashtag was like whoa, what's there
Miss Pinup Miami (04:48):
when you touch
it into a whole new world that
literally
luna (04:53):
like all these pictures
came up of all these beautiful
women and I was like, Whoapeople Like, do this, because I
thought I was just gonna comeacross art, I thought I was just
going to find pinup art. Butwhat I found was women who were
actually going out and dressinglike this and like being
beautiful on a daily basis. AndI was like, well, I want a part
(05:15):
of this. So I'm someone Istarted to follow was the
vintage doll. And she posted astory about how her first pinup
shoot was just at home, she puta camera with a self timer, like
in her living room, and she justpose pose, pose, and she took
her own pictures. And I waslike, well, damn, I've got a
(05:35):
camera, and it's got a selftimer. And I'm a creative
person. So I went in my frontyard, and put the
Miss Pinup Miami (05:43):
camera on
okay. Yeah,
luna (05:46):
I got what my pin up the
outfit I had surprisingly didn't
wear that dress that I got frompinup girl clothing. I don't
know why I didn't. But I worejust like these little pom pom
shorts. And just like a reallycute outfit. And I took the
pictures, I would press thetimer and I'd run and pose and
then I'd well that's an uglyposes to better pose. And then I
(06:08):
go back and get the camerasaying, okay, okay, now I need
to lift my leg a little more inlike arch my back a little more
side, run and post post pose andtake all these pictures. And
then I posted them to Instagram.
And there was a very small groupof people that I mean, like
maybe five people who follow me.
But they were reallyencouraging. And they're the
(06:30):
reason I kept going with it. Andthen just snowballed from there.
You know, just one thing afteranother, submitting to magazines
or going to a casting call andmeeting other people. And then
it just grew and grew and grew.
Miss Pinup Miami (06:42):
And now you're
the president of the luscious
ladies in New York. No,
Unknown (06:45):
yeah.
luna (06:48):
I would have never, never,
when I first joined the group,
if you told me that I was goingto be the president, I would
have never thought that wouldhappen. But also because pinup
came at a time in my life wherethings were really difficult. So
you know, it was very early, itwas really good to have that to
kind of look to when things weretough. And it all started with a
dress. Yeah, it was start with adress and a hashtag.
Miss Pinup Miami (07:11):
And a
supportive people. That's why
you know, I only see online whenpeople are so mean to people
when they try new things. Youknow, a couple episodes ago, I
was speaking with Kat. And wetalked about gatekeeping in the
pinup community, and there'sbeen a couple of people that
just because you're not dressedto the tee that they get
critiqued. And I'm like, Whathave you just read that person's
day, they're just gettingstarted, like everyone starts
(07:32):
somewhere.
luna (07:34):
My biggest thing is giving
people the benefit of the doubt.
And just being kind because youdon't know what people are going
through, you know, because and Ithink it also may be for me,
especially it comes from havingbeen in those dark places, and
having those days when it was anabsolute chore to just get out
(07:55):
of bed, just to wash my facejust to brush my teeth. So, you
know, for someone to then afterI've gone through all that
effort to feel good. Thisactually happened to me
recently, I went to a I'm notgoing to say where I went, I
went to a thing, and wentsomewhere. And before I had left
(08:15):
the house, I was already feelingvery self conscious. Because
Hello COVID weight, gained a lotof weight. And you know, before
I left, and before we left thehouse, I was already feeling
like, I was like, I look fat, Ilook disgusting. I don't want to
go out I feel bad. But I put onthe dress and I went out. And
(08:37):
there was a person at this eventthat pulled me aside and was
like, Hey, you know, I know it'sreally hard for women your size
to find dresses, and you know, blah, blah, blah. And he just
wanted to this whole thing abouttrying to help women my size,
(08:59):
find vintage dresses, and I wasjust like, you know, you have no
idea what it took for me toleave the house that I was like
already feeling like garbage.
And the last thing I needed tohear was you talking about women
my size. Now there's nothingwrong with you know, plus size
women are being put but it'sjust about the way that you
(09:21):
feel. And the point is just thatyou know how he kept that
comment to himself. I would havehad a better day.
Miss Pinup Miami (09:29):
Some people
need to be quiet. Yeah.
Unknown (09:34):
Right.
Miss Pinup Miami (09:35):
Unless
somebody asked you like, I don't
know, but you would ask her nota stranger be like, hey, how do
I look? You know, yourgirlfriend's gonna be like, yes,
girl. You're you're looking sohot. Let's go. Yeah. So then
tell us about your acting. Howyou how that got started. I know
you were entertainment were yourparents in in the entertainment
(09:56):
world or?
luna (09:57):
So my dad? No, my mom was
was also a model. So she she did
modeling with Barbizon modelingschool. And that's the same
modeling school that I went to.
So she did it for a while. Andthat's why when I was a baby,
she put me into modeling. So asa baby, I did Ashutosh bogash
and stride ride and Cheerios, and just some like small things.
(10:18):
But yeah, no, my mom only didmodeling. So I'm the first actor
in the family. And I
Miss Pinup Miami (10:25):
create like
small things, and nobody else
has that on there. What's, andthen you want to after you
because some kids when theystart, like my my parents made
me play piano, but I hated it. Ialways wanted the violin, and I
still do. But you enjoyedmodeling, and then you started.
Yeah, more. So now as an adult, you still go on casting calls?
(10:48):
And oh, yeah, yeah.
luna (10:50):
So when I was. So I got
started in acting actually in
high school. And it actually allstarted because a pizza. Oh, no,
yes. The obsession with pizzadid not start there that was
instilled by my dad, my dadwould always just pizza has been
(11:11):
a part of our life. But when itcame to acting, pizza was the
key, so to say, so my dad wasn'tin entertainment, but he did
take me on my sister to a lot ofBroadway shows. And movies were
our thing. You know, he's thereason mostly that I became an
actor, because he exposed me toall of these movies and shows.
(11:33):
And, you know, I've alwaysadmired the people in the
movies. And then in, but I neverreally never really thought that
I could do it. You know, it waslike, Oh, that's cool. They do
that. But in high school, I hada friend who said to me, hey, do
you want to come to an afterschool club? You know, like, we
(11:54):
do acting and stuff. And I waslike, I don't really know. And
then they were like, there'sfree pizza. And I was like,
yeah. But that's literally howthe conversation when I first
was like, No, I'm good. Andthey're like that there's gonna
be pizza. And I was like, oh,okay, wait, that changes things.
So I went to this thing, reallyjust for the pizza, because I
(12:15):
just want a free pizza. But thenI fell in love with it. That
group was called faces memanatees faces maimana needs
theater network for teens. Oh,wow. Yeah, a very long name. But
it was mostly known as faces.
And we actually did ImprovTheater. And we would travel
around New York City doing skitsfor other high schools. And we
(12:36):
did topics like sex drugs, youknow, getting in trouble on all
that, you know, all that allthose sorts of things that teen
issues pretty much. So that'swhere I started. And one of our
alumni is Zoe Saldana. So she, yeah, she was filming center
stage, when I had joined thegroup. So there was a day that
(12:59):
she came to talk with us andmeet us. And I was just like, in
awe, because I mentioned to youthat I've also done dancing, and
I did mostly dance in college.
But in high school, I reallywanted to be a ballerina. And
she was doing this movie aboutbeing a ballerina,
Miss Pinup Miami (13:18):
that was a
great movie I loved centerstage
is such a good movie, Ilove them.
luna (13:23):
And I was like, Oh my god,
I want to do what she's doing.
And she's a huge, another hugereason why I kept going with
this because I saw a girl frommy neighborhood, like, out there
killing it. And she's huge now.
And she got her start just likeI did it faces. So that's where
it started. And then in college,I wanted to focus on acting. So
(13:44):
the first school that I went tomy mom worked there, it's a
little like kind of a long, short story, but complicated,
complicated, long, short story.
But she went to she workedthere. So that meant I go to
school there because we got somesort of tuition, you know,
reimbursement. And I hadexhausted all the acting classes
(14:06):
that I could take, because therewas like three years that I was
going there. And I couldn't gofull time for whatever, like
bureaucratic reason. And I wasjust taking part time classes.
So I took all the acting classesthat I could, and all that was
left was film. So I said, well, that's movies, so I might as
well just take a movie class.
Like we're in the same universe,so yeah, world class. Yeah. And
(14:29):
so I took a horror film class.
Yeah, cuz I was like, Oh, I lovehorror films. So the final
project was either to write along paper must been like 10
pages, or shoot a short film,and I'm like, I'm shooting a
(14:49):
short film because I used tohate writing papers. I said, I'm
doing I'm doing I thought theeasy, the easy way out, but it
really wasn't because I had noidea where to go. So much. I
cast my family I wrote thescript myself, I did all the
costumes myself. I didn't evenhave a video camera. This is
before cell phones before evencameras are like, easily
(15:14):
available. So I had to borrow acamera from someone in the
neighborhood. Because there waslike one person in the
neighborhood that had a camera,
Miss Pinup Miami (15:21):
but did a
digital camera VHS was like, it
was um,
luna (15:28):
it was like a mini Oh,
god. I'm, I'm a horrible
filmmaker right now. It was likemini something. It's a step
above VHS. But below digital waslike those little
Miss Pinup Miami (15:39):
mini cards in
the VHS. That was like a mini
Unknown (15:42):
is a tiny VHS.
luna (15:44):
It was one of those. And I
also didn't have a computer or
editing software. So I edited ona VHS. VCR. I had to plug in the
camera to the VCR. But anyway.
Yes. Listen, when I put my mindto it, nothing stops me. So it
was very embarrassing to go toschool with that short film. I
(16:06):
mean, everyone else had money.
And so they had editingequipment and cameras and things
like that. But there wassomething about doing it that
just, I was obsessed with. I waslike, Oh my god, I want to do
this. This is so much fun. Andso then I went to school for
filmmaking. And I have abachelor's degree in filmmaking
(16:28):
now.
Unknown (16:29):
Not there you go. Yeah.
Miss Pinup Miami (16:32):
Do You Have
you made any like other short
horror films? No.
luna (16:38):
But it but in my, in my
time in college, I did a lot of
other short films that arefloating around on YouTube
somewhere.
Miss Pinup Miami (16:46):
Yeah, there's
quite a few of them out there.
Hidden Luna gems on YouTube.
luna (16:50):
Yeah. But then I also I
also directed the two short
films, I guess you can call themshort films. The ones that we
did for pinups for Pitbull, wedid one for Christmas, and we
did one for Halloween. I didthat with dizzy. And that was so
much fun because it was likegetting back and you know doing
what I love my craft and it wasjust it was a blast.
Miss Pinup Miami (17:13):
I didn't know
that. You made the videos for
panels. Perfect.
luna (17:16):
Yeah, yeah, there's one on
YouTube. The Halloween ones on
YouTube right now. The Christmasone I was supposed to post
around Christmas. Gonna do aChristmas in July. So I'm
waiting for July to roll around.
Suppose that one.
Miss Pinup Miami (17:31):
And you work
on set on any films shows? Yeah,
yes. Oh, my
luna (17:37):
gosh, I have I wrote my
list of stories because I, I
worked. Before we get into thestories.
Miss Pinup Miami (17:43):
I had a
question about acting school.
You know, I was very curious toknow when you're in these
schools, Is there like a lot ofstudents around you that have
like big egos?
Unknown (17:55):
Girl
Miss Pinup Miami (17:59):
movies, and
everyone thinks they're better
than the other person. And he'strying to shine and belt out?
Oh,
luna (18:05):
yes, there? Yes.
Absolutely. There was I canremember them by name. From Yes.
Because they drove me crazy.
There was one girl in one of myclasses that the professor
always called on her to show theclass how to do it. So he would
be like, I'm going to change hername. So that she ever listened
(18:28):
to this. I
Miss Pinup Miami (18:29):
doubt it.
luna (18:29):
But we're going to call
her Morgana. He would say, okay,
so class, I want you to do XYZ.
We're gonna show the class andthis was every day all the time.
And I'm sitting there like, herewe go. And Morgana is all about
herself. You know? She's noteven good. And I'm like, why is
(18:52):
he was calling on her
Miss Pinup Miami (18:57):
Teacher's pet.
I was wanting because sometimesmovies show things so
differently than real life. ButI was like everyone there wants
to be a star something so theyhave to have like clashes, you
know,
luna (19:10):
clashes even that way. So
I the work that I've mostly
done, Reese in the recent yearsis background work. And in
background work, you meet someof the most interesting and
annoying people in the world.
There are so many, like yousaid, there are people there
with big egos. And it is justit's beyond comprehension of how
(19:33):
some of these people behave whenthey're on set because I'm just
grateful to be there. I'm like, thinking everyone, thank you so
much. Thank you for letting mebe here. This is so cool. But
some of them treat this like itis there right. And I've seen
and heard some of the like themost wild things being there.
And that's when we get into yourstories.
Unknown (19:58):
I've got one really
funny about
Miss Pinup Miami (20:01):
someone that
actually one of the questions.
One of the questions wassomebody on Instagram asks,
What's the funniest experienceon set?
luna (20:10):
Oh, okay. Yep, I've got my
I got a list my list here.
Because I had to remember a lotof this stuff, some stuff I
forgot I did, I was like to
Miss Pinup Miami (20:22):
spill the tea.
luna (20:24):
So I was working on the TV
show bull, and I've worked on
that show a lot actually been ina bunch of episodes with them. I
really liked that show. That'salso a really cool thing is when
you enjoy watching the show, andthen you get to be there and
work on it. It's just like,so we walk into the courtroom
(20:54):
and you know, we sit down andthey give you directions. So,
you know, once they choose you, they tell you, okay, we want you
to go here, we want you to gothere, you know, on three or on
go or on action, you know, they'll tell you when they want
you to go. So we go and we sit,and I started to hear a little
bit of snoring. And I'm like, Ohmy god, I turn I look at my
(21:18):
partner with my clients. Andhe's asleep during filming,
which is like, No, you do not dothat. Because if they call you
or they call on you, you know, you'll be out alive and awake
and ready. Yeah, you're gonnaget kicked off. So I'm just
like, freaking out. I'm like, Icannot believe this guy's
(21:39):
sleeping. You know? And I'm likea part of me feels bags on my He
must be really tired to fallasleep on set. So then they call
it again. All right, let's go.
And he fell asleep again. AndI'm like, Oh my god, you know?
Like, I'm like, leaning awayfrom him. Like, I don't know
him. No, he's my partner. AndI'm just like, got my eyes wide
(22:00):
open. Like, I'm awake. I'mawake.
Miss Pinup Miami (22:02):
I'm good. Oh,
my God. Yeah, that
luna (22:06):
was that I think was
probably one of the funniest
things that happened was like, Ican't believe this guy.
Miss Pinup Miami (22:11):
He didn't get
in trouble him after. Yeah, some
people know I always hate whenpeople don't get in trouble. But
if that happened to you, youwould have been in trouble. Yep.
Yep.
luna (22:22):
Yeah, for sure. Okay,
let's start with I was on
pan-am. That show was about PanAm Flight attendants. Yeah, it
was very, I think it was onlylike one season or two seasons
was really short. But it wassuch a good show. I really like
(22:44):
another one that I love towatch. I got to go to their
costume fitting. And that waslike, Dream 60s closet.
Literally, it was just like, allthe most beautiful dresses from
the 60s and accessories and hatsand like literally everything
that you could think of. Theyhave it there. Yeah, so they
(23:06):
picked out a dress for me. Theyusually do the fittings a week
or so before just so that youknow, they have all of that
squared away before you go toset.
Miss Pinup Miami (23:17):
They keep us
seamstress on set in case
something.
luna (23:21):
Yeah, there's a whole
costume team, especially with
period pieces and like actualcostumes to wear. Because in
most of the time you wear yourown clothes, but when you're
wearing something of theirs, they have a team there to make
sure that it's all like, protected. And then depending on
what level of like, importanceof these outfits. Yeah, they'll
(23:43):
tell you either like, you can'teat in these, or we need you to
wear a beard or something or youknow, just be really careful.
But that one was shot in I waslike castle like, mansion.
upstate New York somewhere isreally beautiful. And it was
supposed to be some grand soireethat all of us are going to so
(24:05):
I'm just again, excited to behere. You know, I'm just smiling
nicely, but inside, I'm like, Ohmy god, this is so cool. So
they're doing a shot where theywant people walking in to the
party. And there's this womanahead of me now I have a
partner, I have this guy who'smy partner, and this woman and
the other guy go ahead of me,and then we go, and then the
(24:27):
director or whoever it was doingit, but sometimes it's like, I'm
terrible at this right now. Likesomeone else may be, they're
running the calling the shots.
So he says Alright, cut, cut, cut. Um, you are pointing to me.
I want you in the front. And I'mlike, Oh, okay. And then we go
and I do my walk and I realizedthat I was doing a
Unknown (24:54):
walk like a real like
luna (24:58):
yeah Basha walk and I
remembered the world. woman who
was there before, she was notvery happy about that. I'm
sorry, ma'am. Wherever you arewasn't my fault. And my butt
opens up that shot and I'm noteven joking. To find the
episode, the camera pulls out ofmy behind going, boom, boom,
(25:20):
boom, boom, boom, boom, walking.
Miss Pinup Miami (25:25):
excited for
that episode, and then you see?
Yeah. Oh,
luna (25:36):
that show is really,
really fun to work on. I did
work on Smash. Did you everwatch that show?
Unknown (25:43):
No, it's,
luna (25:46):
it's okay. That show was
about Broadway performers and
putting on a Broadway showanother
Miss Pinup Miami (25:53):
day, but I
never know. Oh,
luna (25:56):
yeah, it was such a good
show. Great music. Phenomenal
cast, of course. And I got to beon a bunch of those episodes to
one of them. I played a punkgirl. And that's the first time
ever that I got to put on justlike, you know, punk clothing,
and have my hair and makeup donepunk. And I was just like, Oh,
this is so cool.
Miss Pinup Miami (26:17):
That's the
best thing about acting is that
you're able to escape and belike somebody totally different
than your norm. And that
luna (26:24):
is what I love about
acting. And I think it also
part, you know, I think a lot ofthe, I'm going to rewind,
remember use words. There's alot of reasons why I got into
acting, and modeling and dance.
And one of the reasons that Ialso love acting is I grew up
(26:45):
loving costumes. Halloween hasalways been one of my favorite
holidays every year, likepicking out a Halloween costume
is like a very big ordeal forme. And I think that that love,
you know, kind of manifesteditself into acting too. Because
just like you said, I get to besomeone completely different. I
(27:05):
get to go into another world.
When I was in pan-am, it's likeyou're literally stepping into
the 1960s. Actually, the nextone I was talking about. I
worked on Gotham and I played asoldier
Unknown (27:21):
was I know that I did.
luna (27:24):
Yeah, I got to play a
soldier. And that's something
that in regular life, I wouldn'treally. I mean, I don't want to
pretend to be a soldier because, you know, they obviously it's
not right. They do so much forthis country, and I have never
disrespected in that way. But Igot to put on the helmet and the
gear and I got to be one for afew moments. I don't think I
(27:47):
played a US soldier. I think Iplayed like the soldier of some
bad guy. I really I didn't watchGotham actually.
Miss Pinup Miami (27:53):
Yeah, there
was no army, but it was the bad
guys had there. Oh,
luna (27:56):
yeah. Yeah, I was like a
soldier of the bad guy. Um, but
it's just that it's getting toplay make believe as a grown up
and getting paid to do it, whichis like, how much better can it
get than that? I also worked onDaredevil. I played a nun. Oh,
(28:17):
it was really fun. Yeah, Iplayed a nun, which was, again,
we're talking about completelydifferent roles and getting to
wear costumes and be differentpeople. Again, I would not wanna
pretend to be a nun in reallife. But it was really cool to
put on the habit and the wholething. And it was just like, I
(28:37):
get to, I get to pretend rightnow. I did a whole day of
filming for that. And you onlysee me for literally like half a
second. This is my whole life.
By the way. I'm a naming a lotof this stuff. But 50% of the
time, you will see me on screenfor like, a second. Unless I
have a featured role. That'swhat they call featured
background is when you get tosee yourself more than half a
(29:00):
second.
Miss Pinup Miami (29:02):
Oh, I didn't
know that. Well. I have only
been in one movie. Oh, tell me.
I didn't even think I'd get acredit on there. But the guy
loves my yellow hair. It was afriend that was doing a short
film for I forgot what, it was abig deal. But I didn't I didn't
know much about it. And theythey're like, oh, you're just
gonna be somebody in thebackground and a library. I
(29:22):
said, Okay, I don't mind helpingout. And then I have a friend
that texted me saying, you'rein. You're on Amazon in this
short film. And I was there. Iwas here for like 10 hours and I
didn't talk I literally just satyou know, behind somebody
reading. And the guy zooms intomy hair. And this I'm like,
(29:45):
Well, I think
Unknown (29:49):
just like my butt.
Miss Pinup Miami (29:51):
There you go.
They'd love you to put you upfront and they made that
transition. Yeah.
luna (29:57):
Yeah, that's a lot of what
it Working on set is is they say
Hurry up and wait. Becausethat's really what it is. You're
waiting. You're just waiting andwaiting and waiting all day. And
then they're like, Alright, it'syour time. Let's go. Let's go.
Let's go and you you've got tobe ready to go.
Miss Pinup Miami (30:14):
No sleeping.
luna (30:16):
No. sleeping. No, that's
really the worst thing too
because it does happen becausesometimes when you're on holding
people are just not payingattention, they get tired or
they take a nap or they're, youknow, they've got music and
they're not paying attention.
They call your number or yourgroup or whatever, and you don't
go You missed your chance. Likethat's it. They're no one's
waiting for you. Like, that'sit. You just wasted your time. I
(30:37):
mean, you'll still get paid, buteveryone does is with the hopes
of being able to see themselveson TV or a movie, you know.
Miss Pinup Miami (30:49):
On set Yeah.
What's your name? Sorry.
luna (30:54):
I did a Bud Light
commercial. Do you know those
dilly dilly commercials? No,
Miss Pinup Miami (31:00):
of you good.
Unknown (31:01):
You're better off trust
Miss Pinup Miami (31:03):
me because I'm
going to Google.
luna (31:06):
I'll send you the
commercial that I'm in. It's
another one where I workedentire day and you do not see
me. But I was there. And we hadto say dilly dilly a lot.
Because as you know, things arenot just shot in one take, you
know, they're done in multipletakes. So we're dilly, dilly,
dilly, dilly all day, and Icannot stand those words
(31:27):
anymore. When the commercialwould come on, I would turn to
my boyfriend for like, turn
Unknown (31:31):
it because I'm still
traumatized.
luna (31:39):
Over and over. Yeah, for a
whole day, it really got to me.
And then that day, I had afeeling that I was doing
something medieval. So thecommercial is set in like
medieval times got a king and aqueen and people, right. So in
the castings, they don't tellyou exactly what you're doing.
They'll they'll give you asetting in and I'm sorry, I'm
(32:01):
going to rewind, they do tellyou what you're going to be
doing. But they don't tell youwhat the production is all the
time. So when you're applying, you won't always see it saved,
but like commercial may have acode name, or may just say beer
commercial, because they alsokind of want to weed out people
who are only doing thingsbecause it sounds cool. Or it's
got a big name. A lot of moviesoperate under code names just so
(32:22):
that people don't bother them.
Because if you see Daredevilmovie or Daredevil, whatever,
you're going to be more likelyto bombard those people, then
you know, if you just see xmovie Oh, kind of thing. So with
this one, I had some clues thatit was going to be medieval, but
I wasn't sure. And when we goton set, it was medieval. I saw a
guy getting fitted into a nightlike a whole metal Knights
(32:48):
thing. And I'm like, Okay, thisis gonna be awesome. I'm going
to get to wear period clothingperiod. clothing is my whole
thing. I love wearing periodclothing. So I'm texting my
boyfriend, like oh my god, Ireally hope they get to be a
princess because I saw anothergirl walk by and she's got the
pointy hat and a cute dress. AndI was like, I can't wait till
they call my doctor we get tobe. So they call my number and I
(33:09):
go up to costume. And they'relike,
Miss Pinup Miami (33:17):
peasant.
luna (33:23):
Ah, yeah. So they made me
a peasant. And it was the
ugliest costume. I have apicture of it somewhere. And it
Miss Pinup Miami (33:32):
was just like
in your face. And the lady said,
peasant.
luna (33:37):
And I was like, ouch.
Yeah, but I played a peasant.
And I'm just like way far in theback. So you don't see me at
all.
Miss Pinup Miami (33:45):
in these in
these positions? Do they do your
hair makeup for these roles? Or?
luna (33:50):
It depends on how it
depends on a few things, how
likely you will be to be oncamera, or how much time the
team has, because sometimesthey'll do my hair and makeup.
And I won't be seen on cameraand I'm like, why did they do my
hair makeup like they totallydidn't have to because you
(34:11):
didn't even see me or like I'mreally far from the camera. They
didn't have to do my hair andmakeup. So I'm assuming that
they just had extra time ontheir hands and why not make
everyone look really good.
Sometimes you'll do your ownhair and makeup. They'll tell
you come here and makeup ready.
And you'll just walk up to them.
They'll look you over and belike, okay, you're good. And
then that's it. They don't eventouch you. So it really depends
on each production at each oneis different. I had another
(34:34):
situation though, where I didn'tget the role that I wanted. I
was doing a Netflix like promocommercial, which I've never
seen. I think they never usedit. But they had they were doing
like whatever shows were popularat the time they wanted to have
(34:55):
like people from that world. Sofor example, glow was big at the
time, so they had a lot of girlsdressed as glow character, not
characters, but like, if youwere in glow, so just like, you
know, like those wrestlers.
Yeah, and that universe Exactly.
I go up to costume, because Iwant to be a glow girl, right?
(35:17):
Cuz there's all these othershows are boring.
Unknown (35:21):
I want to be a glow
girl.
luna (35:22):
I love glow. I want to be
on glow. So I'm like, this is my
chance. I get it to see what Ilook like in glow world. No.
peasant.
But very, it was like, close topeasant. They made me like a
cult follower. I can't rememberthe show. It was like, I think
(35:44):
it was like a documentary or itwas like a true story kind of
thing. But I was like, in justlike plain beige drab gown. It
was like a potato sack. And Ihad to be barefoot. I didn't
even do my toes. I was so
Miss Pinup Miami (36:01):
that was part
of the call.
luna (36:02):
I was. I was like, Well, I
guess at least I look in
character. But it was like themost boring outfit. And I was
like, really? man could havebeen glow. And I was a freaking
cult follower.
Miss Pinup Miami (36:14):
Couldn't have
been worse. You could have been
like tired King.
Unknown (36:19):
Yeah, that's true.
Miss Pinup Miami (36:24):
I have a
couple questions. Some of the
listeners. What has been yourfavorite acting role? Um,
luna (36:38):
I'm just gonna head over
Ghostbusters. For sure. Yeah.
Yeah, yeah, I was in the newestGhostbusters, not the one that's
coming out now. But the oneGhostbusters answer the call. I.
I am very, very fortunate that Igot to be in that because
typically. So first of all, Ishould say that it was shot in
(36:59):
Boston. So typically, forbackground actors, they pull
from people of that city, they're not really going to get
people from elsewhere. Butbecause I cosplay as a
Ghostbuster, and I'm part of abunch of Ghostbuster Facebook
groups, through the grapevine wegot the casting information, the
casting directors information.
So I sent him an email, and Isaid, I'm from New York City,
(37:22):
but I will be there. Like, youcan count on me. I'm dependable
and reliable. I can send you myheadshot on my resume, like
please would you consider me?
And he said, Sure. Just send meyour headshot and resume in the
in the mail. I was like, Oh,yes. Okay. So sensitive in the
(37:43):
mail. And I got called back andhe was like, Okay, can you come
to Boston for a week? And I waslike, heck, yeah. You come to
Boston for a week. So um, yeah.
It's really like, very fortunatebecause like I said, they're
usually not going to, you know, for a background actor. Why
would you even pull from NewYork City? Like, it doesn't make
(38:04):
that much sense to do that. ButI went and got very lucky. Yes,
I like yes. I whenever I wantsomething, I go after it full
force. I put all myself into it.
And
Miss Pinup Miami (38:21):
I was, it must
have been your cosplay
Ghostbusters. It must have beenan amazing day. Yeah.
luna (38:28):
And yeah, and we, of
course, with a lot of these
movies and TV shows, you have tosign an NDA, which is a
nondisclosure agreement. Prettymuch, you're saying that you
will not release any picture.
First of all, you know, evensupposed to take pictures on
set. So that's not even don'teven do that anyway. But you
will be in a lot of trouble ifyou release any information or
pictures or anything from theset. So I got very lucky again,
(38:50):
because when I went there, and Igot in my costume, which they
had approved, like a weekbefore, and I'm just sitting,
waiting to be called, so you got
Miss Pinup Miami (39:05):
to use your
own costume.
luna (39:07):
Yeah, because they said
they wanted this was for a rock
concert. So I had my own stuff.
And I had to go, I think it waslike, I'm pretty sure it was
like a week before. Show them myoutfit and they approved it. And
so I try to make it a point thatwhen I'm on set, I'm very alert.
I'm very aware of everythingthat's going on. I'm never lost
in books, or music or anythingbecause I want work. I'm there
(39:31):
to work. So I'm always like, paying attention paying
attention. And I was one of thefirst group to get called
because they're, you know, theycall up people and they're like,
Okay, this first group come. Sowe went into this other room and
this woman came in and she'skind of scanning we're sitting
in like a like a theater, andshe's scanning the theater. And
(39:52):
she points at me and anothergirl. She says oh you to come
with me. I'm like, Oh, where arewe going? She picked us to play
makeup artists backstage. Soalthough it kind of made me a
little less seen on camerabecause being backstage wasn't
in the concert, obviously. Sothere was a lot of scenes shot
(40:13):
on the concert floor where youcould be better seen. But
because I was backstage, I wascloser to the entire cast. I
also got to see the proton packslike before they were released
yet and it was just so cool.
(40:34):
Because I got to see thesethings. I'm like, Oh my God,
this isn't me again.
Miss Pinup Miami (40:38):
Anytime I'm
sad. I'm
luna (40:38):
like, freaking out. I'm
like, oh my god. This is so
awesome. And outside. I'm verycool. Very cool. But it was
amazing. Being on set there.
They had the best Crafty Craftyis like food. They have the best
food. They hired an ice creamtruck for the main cast and like
crew. Yeah. So about because Iwas in the area of them.
Miss Pinup Miami (41:01):
I get to go
you get their ice cream? Ice
cream.
luna (41:06):
Yeah, yep. Yeah. But yeah,
their crafting was amazing. They
had a snack table that was justlike, it was like heaven on a
table. It was amazing. Yeah, andthen Paul Feig is a really great
director. He's so kind and sonice. Every time I saw him in
the hall, we'd pass each other.
I'd say hello. And he'd sayhello back. And it's really,
really appreciated when you'reacknowledged by people that are
(41:28):
that much higher than you.
Because I've been on a lot ofsets where the directors are
really mean, and rude sometimes.
But he was like the completeopposite. And the first director
and like in a while that I haveworked with that was just really
amazing to be around.
Miss Pinup Miami (41:47):
Oh, wow, that
sounds like an amazing
experience. And then I bumpedinto him
luna (41:52):
at the park after shooting
one day because I'm in Boston. I
didn't know anyone there. Soafter we shot one day, I went to
this park. I looked on GoogleMaps. I was like there's a park.
I'm just gonna go sit in thepark. So I walked over there and
I sat and I'm just peoplewatching because I literally
have nothing to do. And I seewho I think is Paul fake walking
(42:13):
by and I'm like, Oh my God, isthat Oh, my It is okay. Okay.
Play cool. Play cool with youguys. But you can't be weird. So
I did say hi to him. And he wasreally nice to me. He actually
chatted with me for a fewminutes. I was like, Hey,
I was just on set with you.
We're gonna Ghostbusters. He waslike, Oh, cool. Thank you for
being here. I said, Thank you, sir.
Unknown (42:37):
He was really nice.
Miss Pinup Miami (42:38):
Oh, what? What
would be your dream role?
Unknown (42:44):
Oh,
luna (42:48):
this is going to be
probably a movie that never
exists. Because I love musicals.
I love action movies, and I loveperiod dramas. So there is a
period action musical ever inthe works. Please call me. I
will work for free.
Miss Pinup Miami (43:07):
Period action
musical.
Unknown (43:09):
Yes.
Miss Pinup Miami (43:10):
Huh? Okay,
luna (43:12):
I guess it's lame is Rob's
Miss Pinup Miami (43:14):
I was talking
about Monte Pat. How much advice
that's not very. Okay. I'll giveme the ROB Okay, movie, but that
happened. Okay. I'll keep it inmind if I hear something.
luna (43:27):
Pretty much a musical.
Honestly, any musical that Iwould get to be in is my dream
role because I'm a huge, hugeBroadway fan. I guess if if they
ever did a movie version ofBeetlejuice on Broadway, that
would be like a dream role toplay Lydia, but I can't sing
that great. So I'll never
Miss Pinup Miami (43:51):
ever know.
Yeah. What's your favoritemusical? Oh, my
luna (43:57):
goodness. Okay. Wait, how
much time you
Miss Pinup Miami (44:02):
mean your top
three? Or does it have to be top
three? No numbers.
luna (44:07):
Okay, I'm gonna just I'm
going to shout them out. I'm
Beetlejuice Hamilton. MeanGirls.
Miss Pinup Miami (44:15):
Kinky Boots,
Unknown (44:17):
um,
luna (44:19):
dear of enhancing. Those
are some of my top ones that I
listened to like, non stop.
Like, if you you've seen mySpotify at the end of the year.
It's all musical. Oh, my God,and I can't forget in the
heights. Oh,
Unknown (44:32):
oh, I can't wait to see
the movie.
luna (44:34):
Okay, so do you want to
hear something about in the
heights in the movie?
Miss Pinup Miami (44:37):
Yes,
luna (44:38):
I am very dumb. Okay.
People learn from my mistake.
Okay. Always take theopportunities that you have.
Now, I didn't have anopportunity to be in the movie
necessarily. But I had anopportunity to audition. And I
didn't do it. And I didn't do itout of fear. And that was the
(44:58):
dumbest thing I could do.
Because now I have this regret.
And every time I think about it,I'm like, I should have tried.
Because it's that what if whatif I submitted, maybe I could
have gotten, you know, somethingsmaller because I was going to
submit as one of the singers.
And again, I love to sing. Idon't think I'm that great of a
singer. So I said, I'm not evengoing to try. There's going to
(45:19):
be more famous people. They'regoing to get it than me. But
that was dumb. I should havestill tried. I guess you never
know. Maybe they would havelike, liked my weird face. And
like, she's great for that weirdgirl in the background. We need
Miss Pinup Miami (45:35):
that But yeah,
I get this every time.
luna (45:38):
But I'm so excited to see
it because it's one of my
favorite musicals, and it'sgonna be it's gonna be
phenomenal. Have you everlistened to the music?
Miss Pinup Miami (45:46):
Yeah, I saw
it. I did. it live. I am a big
Broadway fan. But I likesecretly like my dream job would
be to be on Broadway. I asked meto. I I was there was a point in
my life that I was really shyand I just I used to sing when I
was smaller did theater, butthen it just like hit me when I
(46:07):
became a teenager, like all thisshyness. And but once you run
it, oh, my favorite. No, it'sgonna be like, weird. But I love
Phantom of the Opera and wicked.
Yes.
luna (46:20):
Oh my god, how did I
forget Phantom of the Opera.
That's actually my firstBroadway show ever. You're going
to hear a funny story aboutPhantom of the Opera? Yes.
Unknown (46:28):
So
luna (46:30):
phantom of the opera was
the first Broadway show that my
dad makes, you know, I wearcontacts to see I need to wear
glasses, because I have very badvision. So um, as a kid, I had
glasses. And my dad takes us tothe show. And I forgot my
glasses at home. And the entireshow, I could not see it. But I
(46:52):
heard it. And I loved the music.
So after the show, now, youknow, Broadway shows are not
cheap, especially in New York.
They're so expensive. So my dadjust paid for tickets for a show
that I didn't even get to seeheard it but didn't get to see
it. So after the show, you know,we're walking to the subway. And
he's like, so what you guysthink? What did you how did you
(47:13):
like it? And I was like, Well, you know, I I liked it a lot.
But I couldn't really seeanything. And he was like,
lights, your glasses. So, beingthe amazing dad that he is. You
got tickets again? front row andmade sure I had my glasses.
Miss Pinup Miami (47:37):
On Nice. Yeah.
luna (47:39):
And then I took my
sister's to see Princeton when
they were little. That was theirfirst Broadway show. So I've
actually seen Phantom onBroadway three times. Oh, wow.
Miss Pinup Miami (47:47):
Yeah, I would
love to see it. I would love to
see a show in Broadway, NewYork, like in New York. I've
only seen him here, Miami orBroward? But why? How is the
role between an actor and thedirector on set? Like I guess
the dynamics?
luna (48:08):
I guess it depends on the
the actor and the director,
because sometimes they can bereally helpful and really help
you dig down deep. And sometimesthey could just not be very nice
and just want you to be a puppetand do exactly what they say.
Because like,
Miss Pinup Miami (48:25):
it's upon it
earlier that some people don't
even say hi. And they're like,
luna (48:29):
yeah, yeah, sometimes
they're, I've been on some sets
where they were extremely justlike,
really mean, that's why I joinedthe actors union because I was
doing background acting for awhile as non union. But I was
being treated like crap, likereally bad situations like being
in the rain and freezing coldand no one caring. And that's
(48:52):
when I was like, I can't takethis anymore. I'm joining the
union because I need to betreated like a human being. So I
joined the actors union, andthey're amazing. They take
really great care of us. Soyeah, it really just depends.
Miss Pinup Miami (49:08):
How fake our
reality shows have you been on
set? So
Unknown (49:12):
fake? Yes.
luna (49:15):
I was actually just having
this conversation with my
boyfriend's mother the otherday, because we were on the
topic of reality shows and I wastelling her that it's just kind
of a fact in general, like, regular life is not always
entertaining. You can have someof the most nicest people in the
(49:40):
world on camera, but they maynot be that interesting. They
may not say the right things, they may not push the story
along. So it's sad, but it doeshave to be scripted in some way
because otherwise people wouldjust lose interest. I mean, if
you think about your everydaylife, most people you know, it's
not reality show worthy. I mean, that's the truth of it, that
(50:02):
there has to be some directionto it. I don't agree with it. I
think it's terrible.
Miss Pinup Miami (50:08):
But it is
absolutely scripted.
luna (50:10):
I worked on a show called
Hmm. I'm gonna say I worked on a
reality show, I don't want toname them.
But on the show, I was asked togive a reading for something.
And my rating was not the bestfor this thing we shall say. And
(50:35):
they, after the show, theycontacted me and said, Hey, so
how would you be okay, with likechanging your rating for this
thing? It would just look betterfor the show. And I was like,
okay, whatever, fine. Go ahead, you know. But in that's a
(50:55):
perfect example. Like, my ratingin this thing was not my actual
rating, because they changed itbecause it just looked better
for the show.
Miss Pinup Miami (51:03):
Ah, so
interesting. Like, I feel like
the Kardashians they have somuch money, like, why are they?
I don't know. They're justmaking drama just because they
knew. Let's see him. does havingink affect getting hired on
screen for a role? Yeah, I thinkYeah,
luna (51:24):
I do. So I have one on my
wrist right here. It's an owl. I
have one of my back. This is areally, it's a really like,
touchy thing. Because so in somecasting calls, they will say
straight out. No tattoos, because I don't know who or how,
(51:46):
or why this happened. But when Ifirst started doing acting, and
you had tattoos, it was like, whatever, now. And now. And I
might say whatever. I mean, interms of like, if you were
allowed to have a tattoo on theshow, it was not a big deal.
Now, you have to have writtenconsent from the artist who made
your tattoo and haven't receivedany go to set. Yeah. So I'm
(52:10):
like, What tattoo artist justmade everyone's life harder, you
know, they saw their work andwas like, I didn't give you
permission to for that to be onthat movie or that show. So
yeah, now we have to get writtenconsent. And I this tattoo in
the head, like four ever and Idon't remember who the artist
was. So it's always like, youknow, uncomfortable, because
(52:31):
it's like, sometimes they'll beokay with that. And sometimes
they won't, because it's like, Idon't know where this person is
now. Yeah, and then. Sosometimes, most of the period,
most of the period castingswon't take you if you have
tattoos, you can try to fudgeit. And that's why I say it's a
touchy thing, because you cantry to lie and say, Oh, I don't
(52:53):
have any,
Miss Pinup Miami (52:54):
you know, any
under makeup.
luna (52:57):
You could put makeup on,
but then you have to be careful.
Because if they're fitting youfor wardrobe, and that wardrobe
touches that makeup and you getmakeup on their wardrobe, you're
going to get in trouble orthey're not going to be happy
with you and they're not goingto call you back. So it's always
like very touching go like youhave to be careful about which
you pick and choose to, to gointo. Yeah, but it does make it
(53:20):
very difficult. So if you arelistening to this, and you're
interested in acting, and you'rethinking about getting tattoos,
and you're serious about acting, definitely wait until after
because it's it's a headache tohave to deal with them. But once
you become famous, like itdoesn't matter anymore. So
Miss Pinup Miami (53:37):
Johnny Depp
doesn't have a lot of tattoos.
luna (53:39):
Yeah, yeah. Because, you
know, once once you're like
being paid millions of dollars,no one's gonna tell you can't
have a tattoo. Yeah. But actors, they, you know, they don't want
to see them.
Miss Pinup Miami (53:53):
The last
question is, how hard are
casting calls? Is it like themovie where they don't even look
at you?
luna (54:02):
Um, it really, I think
depends on yourself, because
there's some some auditions thatI've gone to that I felt really
confident. And I felt like Ikilled it. And there are other
ones where I've walked in there, and I've completely forgotten my
lines. It's happened on stage toso many times. And it's, it's
(54:24):
really difficult for me, Iactually have trouble
remembering my lines when I'mnervous. I can recite it to you
No problem. Like, if it's youand me, and we're practicing
lines, and we're going back andforth. I've got it. But there's
something about being on stagethat sometimes I get these
lights in my eyes and I'm like,Oh my god, I forgot what I was
(54:44):
supposed to say. You know, thosedifferent things. I'm actually
really good with that. Um, Ihave no issues of being on film.
It's strange, but somethingabout being on stage really
freaks me out. Yeah, and it's soauditions are a lot like Because
you just have people staring atyou and they want to see how
good you are and they'rethinking about you and
(55:05):
dissecting you and it's justlike all you start to think
about all that and it getsreally nerve racking
Miss Pinup Miami (55:09):
and you're the
only one there looking.
luna (55:11):
Yeah, you're the only one.
So I always try to go in withkindness and humor and you know,
to kind of like, ease myself, because I know that I'm going to
start to get really nervous whenI get nervous. I completely
forget my lines.
Miss Pinup Miami (55:27):
So you gotta
keep it chill.
luna (55:29):
Yes, exactly. Keep your
chill. But yeah, it really it
really just depends. Sometimes.
Yeah, you will have people whowon't even look at you. I've had
that happen. pinup contestbefore. The judges looking at me
and I'm like,
Miss Pinup Miami (55:44):
Hey, you may
get a chance. That's how I would
be like, I didn't even get achance to see my hair. My dress.
Come on. Hi, Luna, do you haveany questions you'd like to ask
me before we go? Hmm.
luna (56:02):
What would be your dream
role? Oh.
Miss Pinup Miami (56:07):
Oh, my dream
role in Broadway.
Unknown (56:11):

role would be to I know reviewsare terrible. But if anyone
decided to remake any AudreyHepburn movie like Funny Girl or
Miss Pinup Miami (56:43):
representative
Tiffany's?
Unknown (56:44):
Yeah, do it. Let's
luna (56:45):
do it better with not the
racism. I would love to be in
one of those roles because I'veidolized her like forever and
Miss Pinup Miami (56:54):
beautiful and
today's her birthday. I know
we're filming this today.
Today's her birthday
luna (57:00):
is meant to be that means
someone out there is going to
redo it. And they're going towatch this and they're going to
cast me I wish
Miss Pinup Miami (57:06):
and I learned
today because it's Audrey
Hepburn his birthday again.
