A few years back, I wasgenuinely at a crossroads in my
own health journey.
I was working full-time, a newmom, an active volunteer in my
(01:51):
community and serving on theboard of three nonprofit
organizations.
I had minimal time for myself,so I was dealing with exhaustion
, dodgy sleep patterns, weightgain, always wanting to eat and
a general sense of not feeling100%.
And my usual method of snappinginto shape didn't work.
(02:15):
Those high-intensity boot campworkouts were no longer working,
so I went on a hunt to find away to get my health on track.
I eventually discovered theworld of Neutral Genomic testing
.
At first, I reacted much likeyou might be doing right now
neutral, what Along with someskepticism, a little
(02:35):
apprehension and, yeah, concerned about the price tag.
But that step to open the door, lean into the mystery and
connect with a unique geneticblueprint within me proved to be
the turning point.
Not only did I discover how mybody specifically reacts to
certain foods and lifestylefactors, why it had been
(02:56):
difficult for me to lose weightand why I was always wanting to
eat more and more, but it gaveme the power to lay the
foundation of a targeted, effective and sustainable health
plan for myself and, eventually, others.
Today, as we delve into thistopic, I'm going to share my
personal health journey and hopethat my story can act as your
(03:17):
guiding compass, a warmaffirmation that you're not
alone.
So let's gear up to understandhow Neutral Genomic testing can
be the game changer for you.
After all, they say health iswealth, but I say understanding
your personal health throughNeutral Genomics is like
discovering an unclaimedinheritance.
Yes, neutral Genomic testing isan investment.
(03:40):
The test alone can cost $150 to$400.
And if you consult with aspecialist to review your
results and provide guidance anddirection, the cost of your
investment can be in a thousand, depending on how robust the
service is.
But you shouldn't get too hungup on the cost.
It's understandable, though.
We all want the best bang forour buck, but you have to
(04:02):
realize the wealth ofinformation you receive and the
impact it can make on your life.
I think there's this deepseated belief that if it's not
covered by insurance or if it'snot a traditional medical
practice, then it's not worththe investment.
But you know what this kind ofthinking can really hold you
back from discoveringlife-changing information, and
(04:24):
you, my friend, are worth theinvestment.
Yes, I'm talking to you, theone who believes that if
something is not covered byinsurance or doesn't fall within
the traditional scope ofmedical practice, it lacks the
value your well-being deserves.
But I've got news for you, onethat's rooted in truth of what
it means to truly care foroneself and the present age.
Now allow me to create a picturein your mind.
(04:45):
Imagine still holding onto thatbelief and refusing to explore
alternatives such asnutrigenomics or personal
nutrition plans.
Picture yourself continuallyseeking short-term fixes and
feeling stuck in a never-endingcycle of band-aid solutions.
So you're trying this fad dietto another fad diet, or you're
(05:08):
trying this supplement to loseweight, or that supplement to
use weight, or this shot or thatshot these short-term fixes but
you're still feeling stuck inthis never-ending cycle because
they are a band-aid solutions, and every night you find
yourself wrestling withexhaustion and stress that seem
to tighten their grip even more.
(05:29):
Not the future you dreamed of,right?
You see, the way of thinking.
That same belief system thatyou're holding on to could not
only keep you from discoveringvaluable, life-changing
information, but also cause youto procrastinate on the
necessary actions to enhanceyour health and, as each day
swiftly passes by, your healthcontinues to navigate down a
(05:52):
path that isn't conducive foryour highest good.
The consequence I'll tell youstraight.
They don't paint a prettypicture.
It's like standing by a silentstream watching the water slowly
erode the soft banks, hope andthe landscape will remain
untouched, except in this case.
You cannot simply hope away thegradual erosion of your
(06:14):
wellness and vitality because ofuninformed choices.
But here's a beautiful partabout life it's never too late
to change.
It's never too late tochallenge old beliefs, explore
novel approaches to health careand invest time and resources
into understanding your bodybetter.
In doing so, you can start ajourney towards redefined health
(06:34):
, empowering yourself to makeinformed decisions that can
transform your life beyond whatyou ever thought possible.
Switching gears to think aboutthe long-term benefits of
neutral genomic testing willgive you the keys to unlock
personalized health caresolutions.
It's different because you'reno longer relying on one size
fits all approach.
(06:54):
You're understanding the whybefore you dive into the how.

out of those daunting obstaclesby understanding your genetic
profile, which gives insightinto how your body responds to
different foods, nutrients andlifestyle factors.
You get a tailor-run this planthat delivers results when you
(07:16):
follow it.
No more trial and error, nomore guessing games.
You are in control.

life with holistic practiceslike proper nutrition and sleep,
the once-lumin giants ofburnout, exhaustion and stress
begin to shrink before your eyes.

frustration of worrying aboutside effects.
Instead, you hold the keys tounlock the doors of personalized
, meaningful and lastingsolutions to your health
concerns.
Now, as promised, I'm going toshare my personal health journey
(08:00):
and experience withNutrigenomics with you.
We're going to take it aboutsix years back, when I was 37
and I wanted to have a child.
I was overweight, though.
I was tired and I couldn'timagine having a little one
around.
I mean, where would I get theenergy from?
So I decided to get healthy andI joined a boot camp with a
(08:20):
newfound dedication.
I stuck to a strict nutritionplan of high protein, low carbs,
no fats and no sugars.
Yep, I did it.
I did it for three months Inthree months.
Guess what?
I lost 40 pounds in threemonths, crazy right.
I was able to maintain my newweight, though, until I became
pregnant six months later.
I rapidly gained weight duringmy pregnancy and after giving
(08:45):
birth to a beautiful and healthylittle human, everything
changed, you see, I gained 60pounds in my pregnancy and
struggled to drop that weight.
I went back to what workedbefore boot camp High intensity
interval training only to feeldefeated and frustrated because
I wasn't getting the resultslike before.
The weight wasn't coming off,and you know what?
(09:07):
I was even more tired, I wasstill overweight and I had a
ravenous appetite, and I justfelt blah every day.
In a search to learn about myhealth on a deeper level, I
turned my focus to nutritionwith the aid of nutrigenomic
testing, and I discovered a lot.
(09:27):
I'm going to share one genefrom my nutrigenomics test that
gave me an aha moment and somuch clarity.
I carried a variant of theso-called fat mass and obesity
associated gene, or FTO gene.
This gene is known to impactyour predisposition to gain
(09:47):
weight and be drawn to highcalorie foods.
Go figure.
Research also shows that thosecarrying this variant may feel
less satiated or satisfied aftermeals, so they'll eat more.
For me, this discovery was anaha moment.
For the first time I understoodthat a large part of my
(10:08):
struggle with weight for most ofmy life it wasn't just after my
pregnancy.
I struggled with my weight allmy life.
It was a result of my gene, mygenetic makeup.
But here's where this getsexciting.
You see, knowing about the FTOgene variant was only the start
(10:28):
of my journey.
My nutrigenomics reportconsidered other genetic factors
related to weight loss, appetite and fat composition,
and it gave me a personalizednutrition and lifestyle plan
that took into account mygenetic predispositions.
So I began incorporating moreproteins, low glycemic foods and
(10:49):
healthy fats into my diet.
Foods like vegetables, blueberries, nuts that I was not
allergic to because I have nutallergies, but there's some nuts
that I could actually have thatwere healthy and beneficial
Avocados, olive and coconut oil.
These kept me feeling fullerfor longer.
I even got creative in thekitchen which is not my forte,
(11:11):
guys and I discovered an arrayof flavors and ingredients that
not only satisfied my palate butalso respected my genetic
instructions.
So, with careful planning, Istarted enjoying smaller,
frequent meals to curb thefeeling of hunger that the FTO
gene triggered, and stuck to aregular exercise regimen which
(11:31):
included less high intensityworkouts and more walks and
resistance training per mygenetic blueprint, because those
high intensity intervaltraining workouts I had been
doing five to six days a weekwere actually working against my
ability to lose weight, and Ionly learned that through my
NutriGenomics report.
(11:52):
My journey wasn't always smooth.
There were hiccups along theway, days when the old patterns
threatened to surface, when Iwanted to eat a whole pizza, I
couldn't just have two slices.
But each time I remembered mynewfound knowledge of my body's
unique needs and gently guidedmyself back to my customized
plan.
My experience taught me thetransformative power of genetic
(12:16):
understanding.
It's a call to celebrate ourindividuality, to understand our
bodies and to steer away fromthe one-size-fits-all approach.
