All human males naturally have breast tissue, though it is typically minimal and not easily seen or felt. In some adolescent boys and men, this breast tissue behind the nipple and areola may begin to grow, resulting in a noticeable swelling known as gynecomastia. This common condition can affect one or both breasts and may range from a slight protrusion of the nipple and areola, sometimes called "puffy areolas," to more pronounced enlargement that affects the entire chest area. Gynecomastia varies widely in its presentation and often develops during puberty or later in life, including into older adulthood.

Gynecomastia consists of varying amounts of dense glandular tissue and fatty tissue, sometimes also accompanied by excess skin that may require surgical removal. There are currently no FDA-approved medications specifically for treating gynecomastia, and while the condition may regress on its own in some adolescents, most cases in adults require surgery for permanent correction. The cause is often unknown but is commonly linked to an imbalance between estrogen and testosterone hormones, with contributing factors such as medications, hormone changes, obesity, or use of anabolic steroids. Each case requires careful evaluation and an individualized surgical approach.

Many men with gynecomastia experience self-consciousness and psychological stress, often avoiding tight clothing or activities like swimming due to embarrassment. Dr. Michael Law, a board-certified plastic surgeon with over 30 years of experience, is recognized for his expertise and compassionate care in male breast reduction surgery, helping patients achieve natural, confident results. His practice ensures discretion and comfort during consultation and treatment, with surgery typically involving removal of glandular and fatty tissue, followed by wearing a compression garment during recovery. Patients usually resume normal activities within a few weeks, benefiting from improved chest contour and renewed confidence. Cardiac Cowboys

Cardiac Cowboys

The heart was always off-limits to surgeons. Cutting into it spelled instant death for the patient. That is, until a ragtag group of doctors scattered across the Midwest and Texas decided to throw out the rule book. Working in makeshift laboratories and home garages, using medical devices made from scavenged machine parts and beer tubes, these men and women invented the field of open heart surgery. Odds are, someone you know is alive because of them. So why has history left them behind? Presented by Chris Pine, CARDIAC COWBOYS tells the gripping true story behind the birth of heart surgery, and the young, Greatest Generation doctors who made it happen. For years, they competed and feuded, racing to be the first, the best, and the most prolific. Some appeared on the cover of Time Magazine, operated on kings and advised presidents. Others ended up disgraced, penniless, and convicted of felonies. Together, they ignited a revolution in medicine, and changed the world.
