(00:01):
- Hello, friends and neighbors.
It is again, another episode
of playing Games with Strangers.
I almost introduced itas strangers and aliens.
I, I'm a feeling .
I'm gonna, I'm gonna startcalling myself Ben. Ben Avery.
There you go. Um,
but no, my name is, my name is John Har.
You, uh, I am a your DMMfor the evening, as well

(00:25):
as a voice actor for the, uh,supersonic pod comics crew.
Um, as is the case with allof us, we are affiliated
with Supersonic in someway, shape or form.
Uh, with us this evening, we do have
of strangers in Aliens fame.
Uh, Steve McDonald, that's me.
We have, uh, JS Earls, one of the writers

(00:49):
and one of my bosses from Supersonic Pod Comics
- Or bogo Go Home.
- Oh, there's, okay, so there's that.
Uh, we have JosiahCrandall, also voice actor
for Supersonic, as well asworld famous movie director.
- Hello. Hello.- And we have,

(01:13):
I don't have names in frontof me, and my mind went blank.
I apologize. I'm terriblewith names. I'm a bad person.
- Lin . Cel Este. What's
- Lan do?
Cel Celeste, I, I knowyou by so many names now
and I'm trying, I always forget which
one is the, is the real one.
Yeah. 'cause I'm a terribleperson, everybody. It's okay.
I want everybody to knowthat I am just a bad person.

(01:35):
We have Celeste. We stilllove you though. Celeste.
Mora. I pronounced that right?
- You did. Well done.- Alright.
Celeste Mora, who isalso a voice actor from
actress, so, oh yeah.
Voice actress from Supersonic Pod comics.
You know, I, I apologize
to anybody who's listening ifI sound a little bit jumbled.
A lot of that comes fromthe fact that I had one

(01:56):
of two ways I was gonnatake the narrative tonight.
And I, I literally didn't know
until about 15 minutes before we started.
And so I'm shooting from the hip a lot.
So I've got a lot ofother things on my mind.
So I apologize if I sound a little bit
scattered in the intro.
Uh, real quick, I'm gonnaget this outta the way
'cause it's just kind ofawkward to do this at the end

(02:16):
of the po at the end of the show.
Uh, if you like our podcast
and, uh, you wanna help usout, wherever you're listening
to this from, uh, giveus, give us a rating
and a review that really helpsus out as far as, uh, uh,
standings as well as, uh, youknow, uh, putting us in front
of other like-mindedindividuals who are looking

(02:37):
for actual play d and d podcasts.
So anybody else got anythingthat they want to promote?
Alright, well, let's playsome Dungeons and Dragons.

(03:57):
So, before we step into thisevening's game, who wants
to recap what we, whathappened in the last episode?
I will call names.
- You should just assign it.
- Okay. Steve, what happenedin the last episode? Oh, man.
- Not me. I mean to otherpeople. Ah, man. Okay.
Um, the, um, the rest of the party

(04:21):
apparently lost their minds
and, uh, wanted to go into, uh, slavery.
Gareth, uh, had, was havingnone of it. So he, he left.
Um, and, but then it turnsout that, um, they met,
uh, a Alan, uh, then, uh, Callum,
uh, went missing.
And, um, then we wentto search for Callum.

(04:45):
But before then, uh, thisbeing of great power, um,
uh, approached us
and pretty much forcedus to go on a, some sort
of a Quest probe type of a, uh, battle
of Champions, I guess.
Something like that. So
through the portal we wentwithout Callum and with Alan.

(05:06):
And there we go.
- Real quick to put a littlebit more fine point on it,
Callum was actuallyapprehended by authorities
for escaping prison, and y'all were told
that she was probably takenup to, uh, Balder's Gate.
- That's right. I forgot about that.
- So just throwing thatout there for the Eagle.

(05:27):
I had listeners at home whowere saying, Hey, wait, uh,
there was more detail.
I'm one of those eagled eared,Hey, you know, I said it
and I'm not taking it back.
- .- All right, so we
begin today's session back atthe field in the exact same

(05:47):
spot where you guys weretaken up by the Kean,
and a portal opens
and the four, the five
of you actually includingthe Kean, Kieran walkout.
And he goes, well, uh,
I guess that to that, uh,that's gonna take care of that.
Then, uh, I'm surethat'll be an experience.

(06:09):
None of y'all will everforget. I know, I won't.
So, uh, ,
what morals did you guys take away from
what you just learned there?
- Um,- Well, I would say that I learned
the meaning of, um, happiness

(06:33):
- Don't do drugs.
- Oh, yes. That's a verygood, very good advice.
- I am still covered in flour
- , and I've gotthis pot of honey, so
that's a rather a big takeaway.
- And I learned a meaning of true love.

(06:55):
- Wow. Whoa. Sorry. Wrong voice.
- .- Whoa. Wow.
- What exactly happened,uh, to the rest of you?
I met a bubble person and asmall person that talked funny.
- So did we.- I'm sorry, I was trying
to get flower outta my ears. Just skip me.

(07:18):
- ,- Keep, I I have a question for you.
- Go ahead.- Why does a
Aly Eland, however you say her name,
why does she sound like you?
Why the same accent,
- Honey, that is not the same accent.
- No, that's not the same there at all.

(07:40):
But, uh, you know,
some people just don't pickup on the sensibilities
of nuance and all that.
So, you know, there's that.
- Well, one of us is muchmore refined than the other.
- I do appreciate you noticing that.
Thank you very much. Um,

(08:00):
- I I I have a question.
- Go ahead.- Did I do
- Poo bear?
Did.
- Oh, very, very amusing.
Uh, did we do what we were supposed to do?
- Uh, that's about the,uh, that's about that.
That y'all did. All right,

(08:22):
- .
Oh, good. Then I think weshould get on with what
we wanted to do.
- Yeah. About that. Um,- Or what,
- Well, I'm just just gonna say,
time moves different between the realms.
It's one of those inevitabilities
that just can't be controlled, you know,
time just keeps ticking.

(08:42):
Uh,
- What are you saying?
- Well, I'm just gonna say poo sometimes.
And this is the lesson that I want y'all
to have learned fromthis whole experience.
It's not so much aboutmaking it to the point
to achieve the goals that you want,
but it's about the storyyou leave along the way.
All right, well, with thatsaid, I'll see y'all later.

(09:06):
And then he just vanishes.
- Did anybody understandwhat that thing just said?
- There were a lot of words.
He said something about a story and a way,
and I didn't like theway he said those things.
- Seems like we came different time

(09:30):
forward or backwards. I don't know.
- So you are saying, well, that, oh,
we're not when we were before we went.
- Exactly.- Let's hope we're not backwards
because we do not have the time
to clean up the mess if we meet ourselves.
- Well, let's hope we're not forwards,
because who knows what'shappened to, to Callum

(09:52):
or, or Christopher.
- Uh, I would like you guysto make a perception check
- You- 10 24 7.
- Alright. Uh, you don'tnotice anything different?
Uh, Steve, what did youget? Oh, you got an eight.

(10:14):
Neither do you, Steve, or,I mean, I mean, uh, Gareth,
uh, however, Alan
and Orba, you guys notice that
where you're standing is the same area
that you got picked up at,
and it's the same time ofday that you got picked up,
but the growth around you is significantly
thicker and more dense.

(10:36):
- Oh,- That's just growth.
- .
- There seems to be quite abit of foliage around here.
Um, a little bit more than when we left.
- Oh, well,- Any idea how much, how long
- It would take?
No, I do not do this month.I do not do plans. Oh.

(10:57):
But I can talk to the plants.
- You can what now?- .
- Good. See, I, I can, here, let me just do this.
Okay. So I'm gonna cast
- I can too, but they don't talk back.
- . I'm gonnacast speak with plants.
- Oh, okay. Uh, what is the,

(11:17):
how, how does this spell work?
Go ahead and do you have the spell
definition in front of you?
- Uh, I can hang on.
You imbue plants within 30 feetof you with limited sentient
and animation, giving themthe ability to communicate
with you or, and followyour simple commands.
You can question plants aboutevents in the spells area
within the past day, gaininginformation about creatures

(11:39):
that have passed weather andother circumstances within
- The past day.
Gotcha.
- Okay. So I'm gonna cast,uh, speak with plants just
to all see what's going on.
- So the gra the grass that rises up.
Well, you're, you're ahalfling, aren't you? Yeah.
- Long grass. So the grass is
probably already taller than I am.

(12:00):
- Yeah. The grass comesup to your forehead.
So , it starts to,it starts to kind of sway
around you, like it'sgrooving into some tunes.
It's thinking about
- About, excuse me, Mr.
Grass. Do you happen to know
what has happened within the last day
or so around here, perhaps, uh,the time of year that it is?

(12:23):
- Oh, uh, yeah.
There's totally like some breeze.
And like there was this dog, right?
You wouldn't believe what itdid to that tree over there.
It was heinous. So not cool.

(12:46):
- There's- Aggression in anything. Anything.
- Hang on a second. Pia.
Uh, is, do you happen toknow what time of year it is?
Is it the rainy season?
- Um, it's, uh,
daylight, right?
Uh, yeah, it was like this yesterday too.

(13:11):
And like, but there wasthis weird case of like,
scattered darkness for,
for like hours, right?
And we're like, oh no,we need light to live.
But then like the lightcame back, we're like,
oh, righteous.
- You have the most helpful dia.

(13:33):
I'm gonna go talk to that tree over there.
So I go and walk to a treewith, that's within range.
Excuse me, DIA, can youhappen to tell me, uh,
what time of year it is?
- Oh my God. So it's like, totally,
it's totally spring, right?

(13:53):
Like, can't you totally see my buds?
Like, so good.
- Thank you, darling. Youhave been most helpful.
- Uhhuh, .- Okay,
so I come back to the tree. I
- Think there's a flower over there
if you want to talk to it.
Let's see how many differentvoices we can make. Our dmm

(14:14):
- .
- Oh, look, some moss.
- You know what I don't feelso bad about, about what's,
what's gonna happen now?
So go ahead, .Keep pushing that button.
- So on second thought,
- I'm gonna go back to thegroup and let them know.

(14:34):
Uh, yes, I do believe it is springtime.
- Oh, well that's great news.
I don't remember whattime it was when we left.
- It was spring.- Oh, it was spring.
I just heard a voice in myhead. It's my bare instincts.
- .- Are they your bare necessities?

(14:57):
- Uh, yes.- Gonna say it.
- Oh, very bare necessities.
Uh, wouldn't we get moreinformation if we found a
person, uh, than a tree?
Oh, perhaps we should
- Back nothing else.
No other details. They said
- No, the grass was most unhelpful.

(15:19):
- What about the dog behind
- You?
You hear someone go, what?
- .- Considering that the grass comes up
to my forehead, I'm gonna like just shrink
closer to the party.
.
- Oh, well I assume we should probably,
I guess what I meant to sayis let's continue on the path

(15:43):
and that we were onbefore all this happened,
and let us go find Callumso that then I can,
I'll find Christopher so thatthen I can return to my home.
I have a lot to do and avery little time to do it.
And you are more than welcome to join me

(16:03):
on these adventures.
But if you have other things to do,
- No, we should join you.
We will discover how much time has
passed, no matter where we go.
So we might as well go together.
- Alright, two boulderboulders great to free column

(16:26):
from a wrongful imprisonment.
His wrongful imprisonment.. It's been too long.
- Poor Callum.- So what are you guys doing?
- I am, I, i head towardswhichever way the road
that we were trying to be on was,

(16:48):
- I have a question for Poo.
- Oh, yeah. Oh yes. What, what, what is it all about?
- I don't know how much time has passed,
but if you're still wanted,
should we be traveling on the open road
or should we just follow the coast?
- I think we should gowhichever way is fastest.

(17:11):
And as I am also directionally challenged,
I believe the road is the most, a vast way
to get to a place.
Perhaps we can overtake the wagon
and let Callum was in that way too.
- That's true.- I'm a fan of that.
I do not care to walkthrough all of this foliage.

(17:34):
- Oh, yes. Hell let me help you.
- And I take my great acts
and I start cuttingaway some of the grass.
So, um,
- You- Hear, um, Alan, you hear someone go, oh,
- No .
- As soon as he didthat, I was like, oh God.
They still have sentient, ,
- , and they feel everything.

(17:55):
- It's a haircut. Not dead.- There is not better canoe.
- You are so kind. Thank you, darling.
- I hear the screams of the vegetables.
- There's a GY tails.
- No, it's from a, it'sa Canadian band called
the Arrogant Worms.
Anyway, continue

(18:16):
- To the road.
- To the road.- I make my way out to the road
- All.
So as you guys head down the road, uh,
you guys passed by those ruinswhere you first found Alan
and encountered the Slave Trader.
Um, and you're passing by ifanybody cares to take a look

(18:38):
or we can con continue going.
- Nope, bad times.- .
- All right. - I speed up alittle bit. As we walk past.
- I'll glance over.- Gareth, I'd like you
to make a perception check, please.
And being a, being as you're,uh, taking a glance over,
you can choose either perception
or investigation, whicheveris higher for you.

(19:00):
- Um,- Hi, Gareth. Nice knowing you.
- 16 on perception.
- Okay. As you lookaround, you're noticing
that there isn't really any sign of
occupation in this area, whereas last time you were here,
it seemed like there was a lotof foot traffic through here,
but right now there's not so much.

(19:23):
Um, actually none at all.
And, uh, the ruin, thebombed out looking buildings
that were in the areahave fallen into deeper
into dilapidation.
Like no one's paid any attentionto it for quite some time.
- Interesting.- Yeah.
So you, you notice that notthere's a lot of dilapidation,

(19:43):
no sign of any foottraffic or current usage.
So a certain amount oftime probably has passed
and certain trends must have changed
because there no one'sbeen here for a while.
- Fascinating. Let's juststand here and stare at it. Oh,
- I'm, you don't know anything about it.
- I'm still walking.- Does it,

(20:04):
does the road look anydifferent that we're on?
Like, is the road, is theroad more like the ated
or whatever, you know, what or less used
- It has it, it does have a little bit
of a Robert Frost vibe to it.
It is a road less traveled. Well,
- Wow.
Interesting.
- And so how long do you think has passed?
I mean, a couple of hoursor maybe a few minutes.

(20:30):
- It appears as though a longertime has passed to me. Oh,
- Three hours.
- No, I- Think it's been at least a day, honey.
- A day.- Maybe longer than that.
I'm thinking perhaps even a year
where no one has doneanything in this area almost
as if it has beencleared out or evacuated.

(20:54):
- No, that's probably wrong.
I bet it's only been a couple of hours,
- Or perhaps months
- Or perhaps, uh, did you mean a minutes?
I thought I heard you say months.
- No months. Well,
it could be a year.

(21:17):
- I guess everyone canhave their own opinion.
I believe we, we, we must hurry.
I'm, I'm worried about Callum.
- All right. So as you guysare traveling, you do see
a wagon coming towards you guys
from the other end of theroad coming up the road.

(21:41):
- Oh. Or maybe it's the guardsreturning from bringing in
Callum to a boulders gate.
Perhaps if we hide
and ambush them, we can getsome information from them.
- Does it look like they've seen us or,
- Uh, make a Well,

(22:03):
you asked if it looked likemake a perception check.
- Uh, successful.- What'd you roll
- ?
I rolled a six .
- Uh, you pretty far away.
You can't really see the faces
of anybody who's in the, in the, uh, cart.
Um, so you're, you're not certain.

(22:27):
- I, I dive into the, to theunderbrush and try to hide.
That's a natural 20.
- Nice. Uh,
you guys watched this giantbug bearer dive into an
underbrush and he, hecompletely disappears into it.
Uh, poo you have found likea, kind of like a sinkhole,

(22:48):
- , . Perfect.
- And you just dove intoit and you hit the ground.
I'd like you to make adexterity check, please.
- Uh,- Okay. Um,
- Nine, or it's gonnabe, it's gonna be a save.
So if you got proficiency. Okay,
- Well, if that's the case,uh, I don't think I have,

(23:09):
it's still, uh, nine.
- Still a nine? Yeah. Uh, yeah.
You, you fall in thereand you land face first
into the, uh, ground.
Go ahead and take, uh, twopoints of bludgeoning damage.
I watched somebody dosomething similar into
the shallow end of a lake.
'cause they thought it would be deeper
when they dove into it.

(23:30):
- Ouch. Gareth, can you see the wagon?
- I'm gonna stealthinto the grasses gently.
- Go ahead. Oh, wow. Yeah, yourolled a 26 on that stealth.
You're, um, the halfling thatyou were with, as you turn
around to ask if, uh,Gareth had seen the, uh,

(23:51):
wagon, the halflings gone,
- Maybe the bug bear stepped on her
- .
- Do you think we shouldapproach the wagon?
Seeing is how we tend to getmore respect than the bug bear?
And I don't know who the new girl is, but

(24:15):
- Did it look like the, thewagon was military at all,
or did it look like it was justa regular people, you know,
peasantry using it? Um,
- With the perception check that you,
that you did, that you threw?
Um, it does look, it does appear to be
like it's covered, so you can't really
see what's in the wagon.

(24:36):
Um, but you don't see any insignias
or anything on there that would,
that you would normally expectthat would, uh, designate,
designate it to be military
or affiliated with aspecific organization.
- Got it. Thank you. Yes.
I think it may be prudentfor us to approach it,

(24:56):
- Prudent for us to approach it.
- We should try to getinformation from them.
- From them. Yes, I agree.
But we don't know howmuch time has passed.
We should be on guard.
- Well, of course- The wagon is
probably within a hundred yards

(25:16):
of you now looking likeit's just gonna pass you
from what you can see.
Uh, you see a, uh, femaledragon born, uh, driving.
- Oh, no. .- She look familiar
- Driving the, uh, wagon.
And there is a younger, uh,
there is a younger dragonborn, uh, sitting beside her,

(25:41):
a younger female dragon born.
- We approach it with, uh, you know, hands
in a peaceful gesture andso that they can see us.
And, you know, it doesn't seem
as though we're attacking them.
just as peaceful as,as, as, as we can possibly be.
- Well, they're, they're dragon born too,

(26:02):
so they, it's not like,
- Right.
So I would assume thatthey would have some
sort of affinity with me.
Yeah, but you could be wrong.
- So she's, she, sheslows her, uh, oxen down.
She's like, is there some,
is there something thatyou need help with?
- Good woman? Yes. Um, my friends here

(26:23):
and I, uh, seem to have beenlost for a little while.
Um, it seems as though thisway has not been passed
for a quite some time. Yeah.
- This, this road hasn't, isn't,
doesn't get used very often.
Uh, not much traffic between, uh, here
and, uh, dagger Ford anymore.
Really?

(26:43):
- At least,- At least not, not since, uh,
not since the takeover.
- Who took over? Dagger?- Oh, no one took over. Dagger.
- Who took what over?
- Oh, um, it was a band of slaves.
They, uh, they, uh, took over, well,

(27:04):
I shouldn't really callit at the takeover.
It was more of an eradication.
Um, but, uh, there, thereused to be a clan of bug bears
that was north of the town.
- Yes.- Um,
and apparently they kind ofkept, uh, they, they tended
to keep a bit of the, uh,uh, highway men situation.

(27:24):
Do you know what I mean by highway men?
- I do.- Uh, they kind of kept
that situation, um, under, at,
- At that point under, when she control,
when she says highway men, when she says highway men,
I jump out and yell really loud at, at,
'cause I think trying toattack, like, not attack,
but to scare, to intimidate,

(27:45):
- At which point she getswide-eyed and whips the oxen
and just hightails it out of there.
- What are you doing? Thanks.- Now, Dolin.
- I was about ready, uh, to attack.
- Why?- Uh, because, uh, wasn't it?
Well, who was on there?

(28:07):
It was a transport vehicle, wasn't it?
- No, it was, it was a dragon born family.
- Oh. A likely story.
- . Why would I lie to you?
- Oh, I don't think you lied to me,
but maybe they Oh, lying to you.

(28:29):
- Hmm.- Now I'm very good at change my views.
- They seemed very dragon born
to me being a dragon porn myself.
- I think you should tellhim what she told us.
- Oh, what she tell you.- The road has not
been used very much
because of the slaves

(28:50):
who, well,
- What- There seems to have Go ahead.
- We think they did somethingbad to the bug bears.
- Yes.- Uh, like, like what?
- We don't know. You scared them away

(29:10):
before we could get more information.
- They were probably lying.- Oh, let's find out.
- Alright, let's- .
- What's the plane here? Kids.
- See, I guess he's going stomping off
in the direction we're heading.
- I'm, I, I guess stomping off in
the direction we were heading. Yeah.

(29:32):
- So you're going hop out of the grass,
you're going away from waterdeep and still towards Erford.
- Yep.- Okay.
- Poo is living in denialright now, and I apologize for
- Yeah, his little braintoo. I mean, come on.
- Poor thing. Hey, it's your game to play.
I'm just the one who makes thestory up as you go. Alright.

(29:54):
Um, so you guys are heading
further down this road.
Um, at first it's easyenough to kind of figure out
where the ruts are at becauseof the wheels of the wagon
that just went by, uh, kindof bent down the, uh, grass.
But as you are starting to go forward, um,

(30:14):
who is leading the expeditionto Deford right now?
- Oh, definitely Poo.- Yeah.
- Poo. Okay. Poh, I would like you
to make a perception check
to see if you can keep youreyes on where the trail's at.
- Yeah. 15.
- All right. Yeah. Uh, being,as you're quasi familiar
with this area, although youare more from the Crypt Garden

(30:35):
Forest, which is northof water deep, right?
Um, but you're still quasifamiliar with this area.
You're, you, you still havekind of a knack for knowing
where the road's supposed to be, and yeah.
You have no problems, uh, finding
where you're supposedwhere you need to get to.
Is anybody watching out for, uh,

(30:56):
activity going on aroundyou, or are you just kind of
- I'm single-minded, so no, I'll
- Be, keep an eye- Out
and pretty much, uh, taking up the rear.
- Okay. And Alan, yousaid you were as well?
- Yeah, I'm probablynear, um, oh, I'm sorry.
I forgot your character's name, so,
but I'm, but I'm near the bag.

(31:17):
- Okay. So you're nearGareth? Yes. Thank you. Okay.
And Orba, you just kindof trying to console Poo
or what's, what, what'syour, what are your,
what's your game plan on this March?
- Yeah, I'm, yeah, but I'm,I'm staying kind of aware too
because I, I don't likethe whole situation.

(31:37):
- Okay. One of the three of you.
I would like to roll aperception check with Advantage,
please, because the othertwo are helping you.
So whoever wants to roll that,
- I think that's good.
We'll just go with that one.
- Okay. 16.
Um, Alan, as you are looking around,

(32:01):
um, it doesn't seem tobe a whole lot going on,
but every so often, likeonce every five minutes
or so, you kind of notice some shadows
in, uh, just way in the amongst the
more densely foliaged, foliaged area.

(32:24):
- N Now, boys, I may be imagining things,
but did you just see a shadow over there?
I did not. Well, I'll write it then. Um,
- Should, should we stop and check it out?
- Do you wanna tell the bug bear to stop?
- Well, I guess we should just follow

(32:47):
and keep our eyes open and look
and see if we can catchany more of these shadows.
- What time of day is it?
- Um, I'm gonna say it's probably
after Noie right now, rather.
- Okay.- I keep trudging along.
- Uh, okay. And poo, I would like you

(33:09):
to make a perception check as well,
with disadvantage, please.
- That's loud. Uh, yeah, that's a six.
- Okay. Yeah. You,
you don't notice much goingon around you right now.
Very single-minded. Um, so you guys march
and, uh, outside
of the occasional shadow personin your periphery, y'all,

(33:32):
y'all don't, uh, not much happens.
It's starting to become nightfall.
Are you guys gonna march the night
or are you gonna set up camp?
- We're following the bug bear.
- Yeah. How, how, well, how,how good are we feeling?
How, like, how tired are we getting?
- Well, I mean, you guyshave been walking all day.
It's probably gonna be about a three day,

(33:53):
a three day journey on foot.
Uh, and that's making the assumption
that you guys are makinga pretty good click as far
as moving swiftly.
If you guys want, are goingat a more leisurely jaunt.
This could be a five day journey on foot.
So, depends on how fast y'all are.
Y'all are moving, but you guys have been

(34:15):
walking for a while, so,
- Uh, well, I, I wouldprobably keep going, but
- You gonna keep going- Unless the other,
unless the others convinced me to stop.
- Don't you have apotty break or anything?
- Nope.- Uh, he just stop for a second.
- He just goes while he walks, man. I, yeah. . Aw,

(34:37):
- Gross.
- P- What?
- Stop for a second.- Why?
- If we're going to, Idon't think we can just keep
up this pace forever.
We should at least pick agood place, a good area.
We're still seeing shadows. We may be being watched.
If anything happens tous, we won't be able

(34:59):
to get anywhere and help anyone,
- But there's people,friends counting on me.
- Yes. But we still haveat least another two
days to journey.
We need to keep an eye outfor a good place to rest.
And in the night,
- Fine.

(35:20):
But let's make it quick,
- .
- One quick night later.- All right.
So are you guys gonna keep watch
or are you guys just gonna all bed down?
- Well, is there any like, uh, and, and I,
and I was going to say,
but also like to, you know, Idon't know if there's anywhere

(35:42):
that we could have where we,
where there was like high ground
or something that itlooked like that we would,
it would be easier to defend
if we did get some attackedfrom the shadows or whatever.
- Um, go ahead
and make a, uh, a survival check.

(36:02):
Ooh. And because, because you're having,
uh, people help you.
You're having two of the three I'm sure
are trying to help you find a spot.
I'll give you advantage on that.
- Uh, non-natural 20.
- Awesome. Yeah, you, uh, you find an, uh,
area not too far off the road.
It's ki it kind ofplateaus up a little bit.

(36:23):
Uh, so it seems like a niceflat ground that's elevated, um,
where you should be ableto, you feel like, uh,
you'll have decent amount of surveillance
of anything coming on, comingon foot towards you guys.
And it every, it's uphillfrom all sides, so, you know,
a little bit more defensible.

(36:45):
- So, um, I guess we go upthere, , do we need
to role play all that stuff?
- No.- .
- So you guys get up there andset camp. Are you guys going?
Are you guys, uh, goingto sleep right away, or,
- I mean, I think we'llbe alternating, uh,
for who's keeping watch
and I'm guessing I'll take,I'll take first watch.

(37:07):
Yeah, I was gonna say, I'm guessing
Poo would be first watch. I'll
- Take a second.
- Okay.- How long are the hours on watch?
- Well, you need eighthours of rest to con
to constitute a long rest.
Um, and for, uh, rather six to eight hours

(37:29):
and being as there's fourof you, I would say if you,
if everybody did two hoursof watch, you guys could get
six hours of broken sleep.
- Okay. I'll take third watch.- Yeah, I'll do fifth
- .
- I'll do fourth.- Excellent.
- Oh yeah, there's, yeah, yeah.

(37:50):
Four would
and everybody loses two, soyeah, that's gonna be six hours.
That works. Okay. Um, sorry, math.
Um, all right.
So Poo, go ahead
and roll a perception check, please.
- 19.- 19.

(38:12):
Uh, during your watch,uh, you look around, uh,
you don't see much going on.
Uh, you do actually, no, I take that back.
You do see the occasional shadows moving
through the trees, um,
- Through the trees.
- But you, you weren't,they're coming weren't,
you aren't entirely certain asto if that's normal wildlife

(38:35):
or if that's the shadowsthat you have seen
that you have been told, hasbeen seen around you guys.
- I kind of mumbled tomyself into the shadows.
- If you are planning ontrying anything, I wouldn't,
I'm not very happy right now.

(38:57):
- This is an interestingjuxtaposition for me.
Uh, poo was the, the actualpoo that's owned by Disney, uh,
was a very sacred characterfor me as a child.
And hearing him angry isjust beyond bizarre for me.
I'm just throwing that out there.
- You should, you should, should hear my listen.
My other d and d, oneof my others is, is a

(39:20):
Barbarian Mickey Mouse. So
- Nice.
Uh, I've seen Mickey angry. Yeah,
- I have two.
I've played the Kingdom Hearts games.
Um, so , allright, so your, your, uh,
your watch comes to pass.
And so next up is I believe Alan.

(39:45):
- Okay, - Go ahead and rollme a perception check. Mm.
- Apparently I'm sleepy.
- You are sleepy.
In fact, I would like you to make a
constitution save at disadvantage, please.
- Three.- Ooh.
Um, and that is a, uh, wow.

(40:07):
That is actually, you did a crit fail.
That is All right. So you fall asleep.
- Please, Mr. dmm, don't kill me.
- Oh, I'm not gonna kill you. ,
- Who can we bring on the podcast next?
.
- Uh, so you, you fall asleep

(40:29):
and you are awakened as you feel
somebody rummaging through your pockets.
- Um, okay.
I'm going to, can I do slide?
Can I do stealth if someone'srummaging through my pockets?
Like, can I try to stealth away,

(40:51):
- Stealth- Away while they're rum,
while they're rummaging?
- Um, I have,
or I just to meet somebody who has a,
who has a dexterity score
that would allow for something that,
- Okay, so I'm just gonna like flail
and kick whoever's in my pockets.
- Alright, so you kick Yeah.Make an attack roll, please.

(41:14):
- Would that be dexterity?
- Um, I believe a kick would,
con would be actually strength.
- Okay. Oh dear.
Hey, it's 20.
- Alright, so go aheadand roll damage on that.
- Um, - Just click on the,uh, oh, I guess you can't, uh,

(41:38):
just, uh, roll a D six for me please.
And add your strength modifier.
- Gotcha. Hang on.
- Or I'm sorry, not Dsix, D four. I'm stupid.
- No, that's okay.
- In the meantime,- Pete. So three.
- All right. So you makea pretty solid connection.

(42:01):
You hear a, in a, in a feminine voice.
Uh, are you trying to see who that is?
Do you have, do you havedark vision by chance?
- Feminine voice? Is it Callum?
- That would be interesting, wouldn't it?
- I don't think I do,
but if it, if it, I needto see, I can quickly cast,
uh, dancing lights.

(42:24):
- Um, what's the castingtime on dancing lights?
- One action.- Okay, so
that's gonna be six seconds to cast.
Um, I mean, you're welcome to try.
You made a solid contact with this thing.
You kicked this thing that was, uh,
rummaging through your pockets.
- Well, the better questionis, did we set up a fire?

(42:45):
- Uh, no one said anythingabout setting up a fire.
- Okay, well then I'm going
to magically light a match.
- .- So you're using your dancing lights?
- Yeah, I'm gonna use dancing lights.
- All of a sudden youhear this and these orbs
of light come out from your hands
and you see, um, you see kind of a

(43:08):
fa familiar esque looking femalerunning off into the woods.
And go ahead and roll aperception check for me, please.
- 14.- You notice
that your coin purse feelsa little bit lighter.
- Hmm.- Well, I'm going to follow,

(43:30):
- By the way, go ahead and take 20
gold out of your coin purse.
- That's not a nice,
- All right.
So you start, uh, chasingthem through the woods
and, uh, by about a hundred yards out,
she stops and turns.
- Um, I'm gonna assume thatI've had my dagger on me.

(43:51):
So I'm gonna pull it out
and be like, well darling, what do you want with my money?
- She kind of looks at youwith a sly look on her face,
and she goes, consider it a toll for
crossing through our woods.
- Now Dar and no one saidanything about a toll.
I'm gonna need to give that right back.

(44:13):
- She goes, well, I would love to,
but I think they would be,
and as she kind of gesturesin a sweeping hand in the
vicinity would be alittle bit disappointed.
- Um, okay, I'm gonna stealth
to wear to the shadows.

(44:37):
- Um, actually make a perceptioncheck before you do that.
- 19.- Yeah.
There are definitely morepeople who are hidden around you
that are watching the situation.
- Um hmm.

(44:58):
- So, uh, go ahead and, uh,roll a stealth check. Okay?
If you're gonna try tostealth into the shadows.
- I rolled an 11.- You feel like you've stealthed.
- Okay. So I'm going totry to sneak behind her
with my my 11 stealth.
- And how close are youtrying to get behind her?
- Well, as a halfling, Ican get in there square.

(45:21):
- Okay.- What trying to do, so I'm trying to,
this is what I'm trying to do.
- What's your ac- Oh god. 14.
- Yeah. You take a foot to the face.
As you get, as you get withinkicking distance, you take

(45:45):
three points of budgeting damage
as you catch this foot in your nose.
- Oof.- She looks at you
and she goes, I wouldn'trecommend doing that again.
- Well, darling, whatdo you recommend? I do?
- Go back to your camp andjust forget about the money.
- I, but I like my money.- Yeah, I do too.

(46:09):
- Uh, I guess I'm going to go away.
- .- Alright.
- Um, wow.- As you, there's
- No one to help me.
.
- As you head back to camp, you're, uh, you get there
and you finish out the rest of your watch.
And other than a couple shiftingshadows through the trees,

(46:33):
nothing else happens.
So you reach the end of your watch.
And Gareth, it is your turn.
- Do I let Gareth know what happened?
- Do you,- I'm gonna say yes.
Hey, there was these shadows.
- How far, how far awaydid you get from the party?

(46:54):
- Well, I'm not exactly sure.
I know I am directionally challenged,
but it was just a littlebit a ways over there.
- Hmm. - Alright. I'lldefinitely keep my eyes open.
Thank you, Whelen. Have a good sleep.
- Thank you.- All right.
Anyway, Gareth, uh, your watch comes
and, uh, not a lot happens.

(47:16):
Uh, seems pretty uneventful.
You don't notice anyshadows in the trees at all
or anything.
- Okay.- And Orba,
it is your turn for watch.
- Gareth, did anything interesting happen?
- Not to me, but Alan apparently was, um,

(47:40):
accosted by something.
- Are you eating Gareth?- Maybe
- .
- We can't eat on watch. Is that a rule?
- No. - You see the, you caneat, you see the tail of a,
you see the tail of a field mouse hanging
out the corner of his mouth.

(48:04):
He is a dragon born. I mean,
- Yeah, don't, don't layflat when you're sleeping.
Try to elevate a little bit. ,
- But no.
Um, okay. She wasn't attacked,
but, um, apparently, um, yeah, she had an, an altercation
with, um, with something.
She has more information on it.
I'm sure she'll feelless in, in the morning

(48:26):
- In our camp- Or right
outside the camp. She chased it away.
- Oh, there's something about this girl.
- Okay.- I've noticed it too.
- - Something about her eyes.
Oh, oh, you meantsomething bad. Um,
- Not talking about thedragon born lady on the wagon.

(48:47):
focus. Gareth
- , - He would, but he'strying to go back to sleep.
Yeah. All right.
So, uh, Orba, go ahead and rolla perception check, please.
- Big old 11.- Awesome.
Yeah. And on your watch, nota whole lot happens either.

(49:09):
Um, nothing really going on.
And pretty soon the sun starts coming up
and you see, you start tohear the birds wake up.
- Oh,- It's morning.
Alright, if I run up, let's get moving.
I've got places to goare people to rescue,

(49:30):
- And I just start, I getup and start w walking
- .
- I eat one of the birds we heard.
- Oh, geez, she's .
Um, okay, uh, youmanaged to capture a bird
and I'm assuming you'regonna at least kill it
before you eat it, orare you just gonna Oh,

(49:52):
- Uh, it kind of tickles when you,
when you don't cook it first,
- Like .
- All right,- Well, I mean, is he slowing down enough
for me to kill it and cook it?
And
- I don't know. Is he
- Olive oil and rosemary?
- No, I'm just, I'm just going.
So if you wanna staybehind and cook your bird,

(50:14):
- Bring the George Foreman grill.
- So Yep. You're eating raw birds, sir.
- Look,- But given your orc heritage,
you're kind of have noqualms about eating the
less savory things in life.
So
- I like the birds.

(50:34):
You can use the beakto pick your teeth out.
- .- That is terrible.
- So, um, I'm, I'm assumingyou guys don't want to,
you guys don't want toRP all five days to get,
or all three days to get there.
So, uh, do you guys justwant, let's do, it's

(50:55):
- Every step.
- I'll, I'll put it to you this way.
Is there any conversationthat you guys want to have
during this walk that youwant to RP out right now?
- Yeah,- Go ahead.
- Uh, I, okay.
I'll just say, uh, I'll catch up to Poo
and say we can, we can walk and talk.

(51:18):
I just want to talk to you alittle bit as we walk, okay?
- Oh, yes, that's fine.That's fine. Whatever.
- I realize that you'reupset. We're all upset.
And I realize that if whatthat lady said was true,
then you have even moreof a reason to be upset.

(51:41):
I would Please use your head
and use caution.
- The last time I usedmy head, I got a headache
- .
- That was my fault. Itake the blame for that.
- Oh, yes, you should.

(52:02):
But all about if what
that lady said was true, then
there's quite a lot that I
am responsible for.
I've lost Christopher.

(52:23):
I've lost Callum. And perhaps
- Is Christopher only?
- No, all of my people
- Is Christopher was,
you are the only one responsible for him.
- He was my friend, and so was Callum,

(52:44):
and that was my family.
It can't be true.
- I'm just saying, I knowyou can use your anger
on their behalf, but if we get killed,
it will not honor them
and we won't be able to correct anything.

(53:06):
- Oh, bark. I'm choosing to believe
that I won't have to use my anger.
Nothing. We've only been gone a few days.
- I, I kind of speed up a little bit.
- Yeah, very well. And I'llhang back a little bit.

(53:28):
- All right. Anybody else gotanything They want to RP out.
- So Alan, tell me, um, how,
how did you come upon our party?
- Well, see, I was in theslave trading district
because I was trying tofind Callum, honestly,

(53:51):
because I needed a little bit of cash.
Um, didn't, didn't knowCallum that well yet.
Didn't know Callum at all.
And so I had come there looking to
find her and or him, him
- Happens to us all.
- And so I, uh, I, whenI came across them,

(54:13):
I decided I liked this potty.
Y'all are quite nice. Y'allmake a good song later.
- So, um, I don't understand.
You didn't know Klum, butyou were looking for him.
- Well, you know, a general description.
Not that many peopletravel with a bug bear.
- And you were just lookingfor someone traveling

(54:33):
with a bug bear for well, yes. Money purposes.
- Well, yes, there was a bounty out.
- Ah, I understand now. .So where do you come from?
Where, where are your people?
- I'm from south of Boulder's gate.
It's a very little town.You wouldn't know it.

(54:54):
- Is it a Halfling town? Well,- Yes, no pun intended.
- . Um, what, uh, what brought you
to the adventuring life?
- Well, I do like tosing my family, you see,
they're all bake us.
Hence the reason I'm stillfinding flour in my hair.
And they, uh, they arevery, very nice people.

(55:17):
They're lovely people.
Best hola bread in all of water deep.
And I've had the hola bread and water deep
and it is pitiful .
But I was set up to followin the family footsteps
of the bakery business.
And I realized I just couldnot do it. I needed to sing.
I'm not that great at singing, but I do need to sing.

(55:40):
So I started traveling, learned, uh,
learned my instrumentsand went from there.
- Excellent. Well, well met.
- She should try water deep idols.
- What was that? ?- What did you
- Just, you should try water Deep idle.

(56:03):
- I prefer the masked bo.- Oh yes. That's a good one too.
- Do you have many marshal skills?
- I'm better at my acrobatics.- Aha.
- I'm not bad with a crossbow.- With a crossbow,
- But, uh, I need a littlework on my swordman ship.

(56:26):
I do have a very handy hammer.
If you hit it just rightin the middle of a head,
the person goes right on down.
- Hammers are handy for that. Yes.
I obviously used this ax.
- Nice blonde fellataught me how to use it.
- Was his name Maxwell?
- No, but I do know him.He had a silver hammer.

(56:50):
- I - Love that you got that.I love that you got that
- .
- Oh, I'm the biggest Beatlesfan ever. Maybe not ever.
That would be my dad. But anyway.
- We'll keep praying for you. So,
- Um, let's pray right now.
what?

(57:10):
The Father is that Beatles hate.
- What's that?- Was that a bunch of Beatles hate
- ? No,
- It was a joke. Come on.
- My album was life changing for me.
- . - Yeah. So was theGreen album. Nah, gray album.
- I don't think it, it didn't you enough.

(57:34):
- The Gray- Album.
- Wait, sorry to interjecton your guys' dialogue.
It's just, it needed to be said.
- So wait, are we seeing singing Beatles
on the road right now?
No. Okay.
- I mean, we can,- We should. She can talk to 'em.
- Oh, I could. No. Wait.

(57:55):
I don't think I have speak with animals.
- I do. I took,- I took Oh, you do.
You would have to slow down Poo.
- I won't. Yeah, not gonna happen.
- Now what about yourself, Mr. Uh, Mr.
Spiritual, where do you hail from?
- Did you know Salem? It'sa little town.

(58:19):
- Nice.
I'm from Gerard Cati, uh,
port City on the AbarSea in t time, uh, months
before reaching water deep,I had a type of visitation
and, uh, was called to setup a mission in water deep.
Uh, thanks to my noblebirth, people are inclined
to think the best of me.

(58:40):
I'm welcome in high society
and people assume that I havethe right to be wherever I am.
Common folk make everyeffort to accommodate me
and avoid my displeasure, which is slight, if ever.
Unless of course it's evil.

(59:01):
In which case there'sa lot of displeasure.
- He does a lot of yelling.- It's almost like
- He had that written down somewhere.
. I know, but thatsounded extremely natural.
- Thank you.- Oh, well then
you are an interesting fella, aren't you?

(59:24):
- I would not be thebest judge of that. .
- I'm not sure where else to go with this.
- And we get there.- And, and scene.
- And scene. No,
I'm just letting you guysdo whatever RP you guys
wanted to do while you're walking.
'cause we're just gonnavideo game this once you guys
get your RP out.

(59:47):
- I think it's done.- All right.
I need two people to roll a survival check
for the next two days. Oh, me,
- Me, me.
Meek, uh, non-Natural. 20 for me.
- Okay, who's gonna roll that second one?
- I got an 11, so maybesomebody else should roll that.
- You already, you already- Rolled it. You already did it.

(01:00:09):
- . You're the one.
- You got lucky.
All right. Uh, so, uh, youguys just marched along.
Not a whole lot going on.
Um, you guys noticed, uh, thosewho saw it though, noticed
that, uh, after theencounter that Alan had,
it seems like the, uh, Druids were
playing by their own rules.

(01:00:30):
And once they liftedthe money off, you guys,
they stopped following you.
So, because you haven'tseen any of the, uh,
shadows in the woods orheard any of the creaking
of the bows of the trees at all.
So
- Is there any of the high graphs
that's looking weird at us?
- Uh, that spell woreoff a long time ago, sir.
- Well, I didn't know if Word.

(01:00:51):
Yeah, it's traveled through. Yeah.
- through the grassroots instead
of the Grapevine .
- Um, but, uh, you guys make your way
and you are now at Dagger.
And I think of all y'all, the only person who's been

(01:01:13):
to Dagger before would've been Alan.
- I wasn't unaware. I had been to Dagger.
- Well, if you've been, if youcame to Water deep from, uh,
Balder's Gate, you would've hadto have gone through Dagger.
- Oh, well, I didn't think about that.
I have slept since then.
- So, has anyone been here before?

(01:01:35):
- I have been here a quite a while ago.
I do not remember much.It was a, a sleep and go.
- You guys are passing through town.
It, it's a, it's not as, it'snot nowhere near as big as,
uh, water deep, but, you know, uh,
just a little bustle of a place.
Um, people are going up

(01:01:56):
and down the streets goingabout their business.
It's probably mid-afternoon right now.
- Uh, what's Poo doing?
- I am, I'm looking around
for, uh,
- I guess I would look for someplace where

(01:02:18):
military transport might stop to check in.
I, I want to find out to,to see if, if the, the wagon
that would've brought Callum,uh, came, came through here.
So either, either somesomeplace that looks official,
that might've noted when, you know, new visitors or,

(01:02:38):
or something arrives, I guess.
- Okay. Go ahead
and make a perception check.
- Oh, yeah. Uh, that would be a three.
Oh, a nice three. Wait
- A minute.
I have been to Erford.
- You have been theErford. All right. Yes. So

(01:02:59):
- There was a, um, onmy way to water deep,
there was a group of travelersI was traveling with,
and I, um, I left them in Erford.
- Oh, gotcha. - So that's justa quick that there's a story
behind it, but I think this is the time
for it, , unless you
want me to tell it. I don't know.

(01:03:19):
- That's between youand your tea party, so,
- Well, when we got here,I would be looking for my
- Friend.
No, we don't want him to No. .
- Well, let's check out this bar then.
Maybe they, they've known if a
military transport has been through here.
Good. You, you don't, youdon't see any, uh, wanted signs

(01:03:43):
around here, do you?
- Can I look around for a wanted sign too?
- Um, yeah, go ahead
and, uh, go ahead
and, uh, make that perception. Check
- 14.
- Um, you don't see you, you look around,
you don't see many postershung up on walls much at all.

(01:04:07):
Um, I could introduce you to something
that exists in all my campaigns now.
Uh, but you are familiar, you do see a familiar post
in the middle of the, uh,central Square, which is
an enchanted post that existsin all towns at the exact same
time called the List of Gregory.

(01:04:31):
And, uh, this is wherepeople post, uh, the list of
- Gregory.
- Yes. Uh, this peoplewill post any kinda wanted
or help wanted
or any kind of, uh, any kinda want ads
or anything to that effector advertisements up there. A
- Gregory's list. I see.

(01:04:52):
- No, it's, it's, it'sthe list of Gregory.
And, uh, and, you know, you, you know that that's
where you're probably gonna wanna look
to find any kind of information like that.
If it's not, if, if, if a townis connected by the, by the,
by the totem, then
that's probably gonna bewhere you're gonna wanna look.
Uh, so with that perceptioncheck that you gave though,

(01:05:14):
uh, as you peruse Gregory'slist, um, you do find the, uh,
wanted section and youdon't, you don't really see
yourself or Caleb on there at all.
- Good, good. Good. Oh,I know that guy. No, no.

(01:05:35):
- Um, okay.
Uh, do I see anything on there that kind
of shows me, um, what
shows what time we're in?
Like, I mean, what yearor anything like that?
- What's your intelligence?- Uh,

(01:05:56):
- I just, I, I just realizedI should have asked that
before I went intodepth on Gregory's List.
- My, my intelligence iszero, or it's 10 plus.
No, no modifier. So,
- Okay.
So you, you can read then.
- Okay, good. . Um,

(01:06:17):
- So, um, yeah, you, uh, you notice
that there are some datesthat are written on certain,
certain ads as you juststart perusing things
and, uh, you, uh, you realize
that you're probably the, these, these dates appear to be

(01:06:38):
set about two years in the future.
- No, this, this can't be right.
- Uh, can I grab someone walking by?
- You're a bug.
Bear's just gonna grab
somebody while they'rewalking. . Yeah. I'm
- Just gonna, I'm justgonna recap metaphorically
or to someone, anyonewho just is walking by.

(01:07:00):
- Um, okay.
So a, you grab a 10-year-old child
that's walking by of
- Kidnapping charges.
- . I, I rolled my D 100. Sir, you

(01:07:24):
- No, I, I, it's just,
that's just the way it goes. .
- Grab a 1-year-old baby off the street,
- .
- Uh, so yeah, you,uh, you grab this child
as they're walking by andthey look up at you with
eyes the size of saucers.
- Is this right?- I point to the date.
- It's what, right, Mr.- Oh,

(01:07:46):
this right here is this right.
- And I, I kind of put his face up towards
where the, the dates.
- Oh dear. Perhaps youshould put the child down
as a smaller person.
I do think that it is hard
to think when someone isholding you like that.
- He, the child looks at you.
He goes, no, it's not right at all.

(01:08:07):
- Oh, I, I would say so.
- Yeah, that was, that was two weeks ago.
- Uh, two weeks ago.
- And I just kinda let go go of the child
- .
- Really?- Yeah.
- Yes. Oh, that's a bad idea. .
- .- Okay.
- Attack opportunity. .

(01:08:29):
- Okay. So the child falls
probably about three feet and lands on it.
Knee on its knees. Itstarts to cry and runs away.
- Well, now we have done it.
- I've done what? It's it's two years.
Two years.
- Do bug baths have moms, mothers?

(01:08:53):
- Yes. The bug bears have mothers.
What a ridiculous thing to ask.
- Do now, look, follow me dear.
Do bug bears moms ever getangry when their cub is hurt?
- Of course they do.- You have just anger
that child's mother, Bea, by dropping him
- A little bit.

(01:09:14):
Oh, sorry. .
- Um, Alan, I would like you
to make a perception check, please.
- Oh dear. 11.
- Uh, you, as, as you're talking
and you're trying to explainthis to Poo, you're looking
around and you're watchingpeople who are kind
of giving a weird look to poo

(01:09:37):
- Really- as, as, as
- - Completely.
And, and, and you, you noticed it
before this whole child instance.
They all were kind of givinga strange look to Poh.
- So no,- The
- Not so much malicious, butthey're kind of looking at him.
Like, say for instance, how you would look at, uh,

(01:10:01):
if you were to go see, if youwere to see a, uh, dodo bird
just out of nowhere Oh, yeah.
- Animal crossing.- Now my desk,
- Like, they're, like,they're saying something
that shouldn't be there.
- Right?- Might I suggest we get on the inside
of things rather quickly?

(01:10:23):
- Yes. Yes. I, I I could use a drink.
- Um, do I, uh, just lookingaround quickly, do I, I mean,
obviously I've been through here once,
but is there a, a possibilitythat I might, uh, recognize
where I left my friends?
- Okay. Uh, you would, basedoff of where you're at in town,

(01:10:43):
you would, uh, you would knowthat where, where that is,
is kind of to the west ofwhere you're at presently.
You're kind of in the middle of town.
You're in the, basicallyin the towns, uh, in the,
in the towns at Times Square, so to speak.
Right. Um, so you, you know, that's
where you had left them off at.

(01:11:05):
- Okay. Um, sorry, that was loud.
Um, I do have some friends,uh, on the outskirts
of town if you want, uh, wecould make our way there.
- How do they feel about bug bears
- ?
If they're peaceful, they don'tmind any intelligent being.

(01:11:27):
- Well, I, then I'm all for it.
- Oh, whatever. That's fine with me.
- And have we all heard
and understand that it'sprobably like two years. He was
- Shouting two years.
- Okay.- Yeah. So,
- And probably stillmumbling it two years.
No, no, no.

(01:11:53):
- All right. So you guys, youguys travel, you, uh, Gareth,
I'm assuming that you're leading them.
- Yes.- Okay.
Uh, need you to make a quicksurvival check just to see
how readily you findwhere you left them at.
16. Not bad. All right, go ahead.
Uh, so you, uh,

(01:12:13):
after about 20 minutes ofmeandering through town, uh,
you come to the area where you had, uh,
dropped them off at in that, uh, kind
of close knit community.
And, uh, you, you, you notice a, uh,
new building has been erectedin that area that has a, uh,
cross on the top of it.
- Ah,- And there's a sign out front that says,

(01:12:35):
uh, church of the Living.
- It's just maybe them.
- So, alright. You, uh, approach are,
are you gonna go intothe Church of the Living?
- Yeah. I, I'm suspect of this,
so I'm gonna keep my handon my dagger as we go in.
- I said I needed a drink.Or do they have drinks here?

(01:12:57):
- They have types of drinksdepending on what you'd want.
- Something strong, preferably.
- Um, if I remember correctly, the,
the water here is very strong.
- I don't think he's talkingabout holy water doling
- The water or no meat, or,

(01:13:21):
or something like that.
- We'll find you something. Don't worry.
- Two years- , get a tattoo.
.
- All right. So as youwalk in, uh, Gareth,
you notice a very familiarlooking to back seat, uh,

(01:13:41):
towards the front of the, uh,
towards the front of the church.
And she looks up at you and she goes,
- Oh, - Well, if it isn't,uh, if it isn't, Gareth,
I didn't expect to see you again.
- Oh. Oh, I wanted to come back
and see how all you, all
of you were doing. Howare you? Good friend.

(01:14:03):
- It's, it's, it'sBelle, just so you know.
- I thought it might be,- Oh, you
- Know, just, uh, living the dream,
you know how it is, .
Uh, but, uh, no, itjust, we started reading
that book that you left us with
and it was, uh, it was just great.
Um, we we, we decided, we,we made the conversion, uh,

(01:14:27):
to this faith, and westarted the church here.
Uh, little confused on some of the points,
but, uh, we, we get the,we get the major points.
- That's a good thing.- Or I, our philosophy is, you know,
the, the plain things are the main
things. You know, ?
- Yes. Yes. So is everyone else here?
- Oh, um, you know, know,

(01:14:50):
just, uh, sometimes, uh, we, we kind
of spread out a little bit, you know, uh,
everybody's here at some point or another.
Uh, uh, Derek, um, he,
uh, he just missed him.
He just left. Um, he's, uh,
handing out pamphlets up on the
north side of town right now.
Ah. Um,

(01:15:12):
and then, uh, stumble for he left town.
He, uh, he heard aboutthe eradication up north,
and he, uh, he went up there to see, uh,
what good he could do up there.
I haven't heard from him since.
It's probably been about a year.
- Wow. Um, I haven'theard as much probably
as other people about the era eradication.

(01:15:32):
Could you fill me in a little bit?
- Weren't you up there?I thought you were,
I thought you were headingup towards, uh, wa deep.
- I was there, but then Iwas away for a little while.
When I came back, I heardabout the eradication,
but not a lot of detail.
- Detail. Oh, well, apparently there was this, uh,
this slave, um, let me see ifI can remember his name here.

(01:15:54):
Uh, his name was, uh, uh, ZEOs.
That's right. ZEOs Andre.
Um, he, uh, you know,he, he had met with, uh,
somebody that was affiliatedwith the, uh, the tribe of, uh,

(01:16:15):
Sanders up north.
And, uh, he came tofind out that there, uh,
they had a champion, Iguess, that, uh, had left.
And, uh, he had, well, I guess he had a
knowledge of, uh, another member of the
tribe named Christopher.

(01:16:36):
Um, anyway, did you,
- Did you say, uh, Sandersand, and Christopher?
No, you don't hear that.La la la la .
- Who, dear, why don't youlet let the lady finish?
- Yes. Finish by all means.
- Um, so anyway, he,uh, capitalized on that.
And, uh, he knew that therewas a oncoming faction

(01:17:00):
of the king of burger,
- Not the king of burger.
Did he hurt the colonel?
- Well, um, he makes me Primus .
He kind of decided to have a two birds
with one stone situation, uh,when they, when they met up,

(01:17:20):
uh, uh, called
- AK- And, uh, .
I'm seriously trying to have a
conversation with you guys here.
And you guys keep throwing me off.
- Sorry, I I missed theburrito bell. .
- . Anyway, um,

(01:17:42):
and, uh, so he, uh, without, without the champion there,
the, uh, the burgers justannihilated the Sanders.
And then, uh, with that being said, uh,
he eradicated the burgers withhis, uh, with his, uh, league
of Druids that he had.
Uh, and, uh, you know, then he, for to kind

(01:18:05):
of gather up the rest,he put out a, uh, kind
of a bounty, so to speak.
He was offering, he wasoffering probably about 75 gold
for a bug, be a pelt.
- Interesting. The bugs.That's a good price. .
What, what did you say?

(01:18:27):
I said, look, there's some church mice.
a quiet bunch,
- But, uh, yeah.
Um, so they haven't been bugged Bath.
I, I mean, other than this one here,
I haven't seen a bug bear forat least a year and a half.
- Easy. They're all golden. Then,

(01:18:49):
- As far as I know, Ihaven't been up there.
- I've, I failed. And I
- Perhaps we'll look for stumble for
- Sit down on the floor.
If it's anyone's fault,I would blame the keeper.
No, no. It's my fault.

(01:19:13):
It's my fault.
- But you had no way of knowing
that there would be a two year lapse.
We make choices in our lives,
and we deal with
the results of those choices.
You made the most faithfulchoice you could make at

(01:19:34):
that time, and you need to honor that.
- I should have, I neverleft, but, but Christopher,
and then, then call and then,
- But you had no ideathese things would happen.
You made the best choicewith the best information,
and you were faithful.

(01:19:56):
That's what you needed to do.
If you did anything else, you would've failed.
- But I,- I think I need to think for a while.
- I try to find a, a quiet spot to sit
and think for a little bit.

(01:20:16):
Alright. I'm sure there's plenty of,
of those frowned in in thechurch. I'll sit with the mice.
- You're, you're in churchon a Tuesday, sir. So, yes.
- Is he looking for the communion wine?
- Uh, no, not right now.
- Oh, no. We, we use,we use grape juice here.
- Oh, do you have anybad grape juice? .

(01:20:43):
- So anyway, uh, Gareth,
how you've been, how you've been, I,
I was afraid he was gonna get caught
up in all that up there.
- Well, luckily for somereason, um, events took me away.
Um, but yes, I am veryconcerned about, uh, the town
and our good friend stumble foot up there.

(01:21:07):
So, um, I guess we havesome thinking to do.
And then, um, and then we'llprobably decide on, uh,
our next steps.
- Can, should we ask her about the time?
Or we just accepting it's been two years,
- It has been two years,uh, since I left you right.

(01:21:27):
- Give, give or take afew months, I'm sure.
- It just doesn't seemlike that long to us.
Um, are there, uh, placesto stay here in the chapel,
or, um, should we gointo town, do you think?
- Um, you know, uh, we we'rejust starting out here,
so we don't, we don't reallyhave like any church housing,

(01:21:48):
uh, so to speak.
Uh, but you definitely, you, you're definitely welcome
to stay here and sleepin the pews if you want.
I'm, I'm, I trust you enough to, uh,
not steal from your own religion.
So .
- Well,- That's
- Good.
Is there a potluck in the fellowship hall?
- Uh, there will be the Sunday if you,

(01:22:09):
if you guys wanna hang aroundfor a few, for like five days.
- We may. No promises. Uh,
- But, you know, you know what,we, we kind, we kind of, uh,
we kind of have, uh,Gareth here listed as one
of our founding members of this church.
'cause he, you know, ifit wasn't for him, uh,
we would've never learned of the faith.

(01:22:29):
So, uh, we, what we can do, what we,
what we can do is we can throw an mtu, uh,
impromptu gathering, you know,
and, you know, what, kindof like a, a welcome home
of the brethren, so to speak.
- I would like to seeeveryone again before I leave.
- Alright? Well, don't expecta bunch of voices for them,

(01:22:49):
because I'm not gonna do that ,
- We don't need to bur burden her .
- Uh, we'll, but we'll,we'll get, we'll gather,
we'll gather some, uh, asmany of the people as we can
and, uh, see what we canthrow together, you know,
hospitality, that, that'sall, that, that's a gifting
that we have here.

(01:23:10):
Uh, so, um, yeah, I'll,
I'll go stop makingarrangements in the meantime.
Please take a load off.
You look like you've, you look like
you've been, uh, traveling.
So, uh, um, we have, we have, well outside if you need
to freshen up, uh, cleanyourself up a little bit.
So thank you so much.
And, uh, we'll, we'll, uh,we'll, we'll, we'll, we'll see
what we can do to take care of you guys.

(01:23:32):
- Thank you so much.- And with that,
the Tabac seat walks out thefront door of the church,
and you guys are in thesanctuary all by your lonesome.
- Should, is there somewhereelse we should look
for information about
where they may have possibly taken Callum
that would be in this town?

(01:23:53):
- I'm not sure. Um,- Or would we just
- Bell is, um, uh, how should I say it?
Um, she is not, uh,
the biggest information,uh, source, let's say.
Um, she did have a lot ofinformation about this,

(01:24:14):
but, uh, there are other peoplein, in the party that I left
who are, uh, older, more knowledgeable,
and, um, perhaps even, uh,
more knowledgeable aboutthis specific thing.
I'm not sure. So, uh,perhaps meeting them, um,
may get us more information.

(01:24:35):
- Yes. I, I just didn'tknow if there was someplace
with records or somethingthat we could look through
where we could find things
that are written down of two years ago.
- Well, I can always goto the taverns and play
and try to get some information.
If somebody would like to come with me.

(01:24:57):
- I don't,- I can always grab another child.
- No, I mean, ,- He's, I don't think
that's a good idea of who, who's not
- In this conversation.
I just, just had to throw that out
- There.
- How long, how long should we stay here?
Is, is it even worthstaying here? I mean, I

(01:25:17):
- Think at least one night
- And then beyond the night. Yes.
- And then we can regroup.Let's poo clear his head.
- That sounds like a reasonable idea.
- So I don't know. I don't know.
If we, if we can't findanything on Callum,

(01:25:40):
then the bug bears areour, the next situation.
But I don't even know howwe deal with that without
possibly getting poo into a bad situation.
- I hate poo in a bad situation.
- Mm. Anyway,

(01:26:00):
I thought this was a kid show.
Um, well, why don't we do this?
I'll stay here with Poo
and, uh, why don't youtake Alan, is it Alan?
- That's fine. ,
- Um, around to some of the places
and see if there'sanything else you can, um,

(01:26:22):
any other information you can scare up.
- Sounds good.- I'm quite all right with that.
- Wonderful.- All right.
So you all go into the prancing pony
and it's, it, it's a bustling place.
It, uh, it, it, you know, bythe time you get there, it's,
uh, kind of closing time, so to speak.

(01:26:43):
And, uh, you know, people are in there
and you hear some JTmusic in the background.
You hear people are like, cliclinking of dishes together
and ha you know, uh,
and, uh, it's, it's alively joint to be sure.
- What is it?- No fighting, no fighting
pit in the middle of it though.

(01:27:04):
- Oh, wait, was everybodykung fu fighting?
- No, nobody was kung fu fighting
- Shelly.
Not everybody was kung fu fighting
- .
- I'm gonna go up to the, the bar
and ask the, uh, the bartender,
is that what that would becalled? And ask barbecue,

(01:27:24):
- Bartender, whatever.
- Yeah, that works. Andask if they need any
entertainment for the night.
- Um, he, well, like I said,
there was some jaunty musicplaying in the background there.
He is like, well, we've, we,we've got a, we've got a bunch
of, uh, we've got a group
of birds up there playing right now,
but, uh, if you wanna go join them,
by all means they're playing for tips, so,

(01:27:47):
- Okay, well, I'm gonnago grab my, uh, my flute
and head on up there
and kinda kinda give a quick little bow
to Garrick so that hecan get some information.
- John, which, uh, key arethey playing in ?

(01:28:08):
- Um, that, I don't know.
Heylin, what key are you guys playing in
- F Flat?
- Hamilton? The key of tip as well.
- .- Okay.
Uh, if that's what you'regoing for, I need you
to make a performance check, please.
- Okay.- 24.
- Very nice.- Woo.

(01:28:31):
- Uh, by the end of the evening, uh,
I'm not closing offthis section right now,
but by the end of the evening,
you have made 132 gold in tips.
- Yes.- When you roll a 24 on a
performance check like that
- Actually done.
- Anyway. Uh, alright.
So Gareth, not Gareth
or Bog, what are you doingwhile she's up there jamming

(01:28:53):
away on that flute, playinga really righteous version
of Aqua Lung, by the way.
- Aw, nice. That's not right, .
- It's not right at all.
- No, Jethro tall. Really? Okay. It
- Sounds, yeah, but it's righteous.
So that's, I'm a Paladin,so I'm into it. .
Um, uh, I guess I'm,yeah, I'm looking around,

(01:29:16):
um, carefully try not to, I mean,
obviously I'm, I don't know.
I don't know how much, Imean, if it's a big crowd
and everybody's just kindof having fun and, um,
- I think we just learned something about
Orach. He's socially awkward.
- Oh, he, yeah, I mean,he, yeah, he didn't learn

(01:29:38):
that from the first episode.
when he, when heliterally out loud said he is just
trying to fit in . Nice.
- No, I had forgotten about that.
- Um, yeah, I mean, I mean,I'm assuming there's not a lot
of works around here oranything, I, but make
- A perception check.
- Oh,

(01:30:02):
eh, 14,
- Uh, you do actually see oneorc on the, uh, other side
of the room, kind of, kind ofair jamming out a little bit
to the, uh, tunes thatare be being planned
- Playing. Um, and
- You hear, and then all of asudden you hear him shout out
sitting on a park bench

(01:30:22):
- , uh, that bad.
- He's an org- .
Um, I guess I'll go, I, Iguess I'll go up to the bar.
- Just gonna ignore theYork. All right. You
- Head up to the bar?
Nah, I don't, I don't, I know.
Call to adventure, blah, blah, blah. I guess.

(01:30:45):
Yeah, I'll go to the bar.
- . All right. Um,so you go up to the bar
and he is like, Hey, how you doing?
- Pretty good. I'm a little out of sorts.
Been on a long journey.
Uh, just got back to town
and seems like a lotof things have changed.
- Oh, really? You wanna talk about it?

(01:31:08):
- Uh, not right thissecond. I'm processing.
I'll, I will take a drink though.
- What you having- Something? Nothing too.
Nothing too strong.
- Ah, I got you. You want, you want a mead light?
I got, I got just the, Igot just the thing for you.

(01:31:31):
He goes and grabs you a bottle
and he pours it out into a glass
and it's, it's mostly clearwith just the slightest hint
of yellow to it.
- Uh, yeah,
this is, uh, bottoms up.
- That's how they get it.

(01:31:51):
- did,
do you know, is there anyone here?
We lost a friend in thistown, uh, a couple years ago,
and we're just trying to find them.
- Oh, okay. When you said lost a friend,
I thought you were talking about like
- They - Were part of theeradication or something,
and that, I mean, oh, that's terrible.

(01:32:12):
Myta. I can give yousomething hotter than that.
Um, oh,
but no, if you, if you'relike, can't find them,
then maybe, I don't know.
Uh, who are you looking for?
- Um, his name was Callum.- Callum, Callum.
- Um, they, he was mistaken for
fighting in the street, a stupid crime.

(01:32:35):
Um, but, and he looks mostly human,
but every once in a while hehas these, like, weird wings
that pop out of his back.
It's, it's pretty cool actually.
Um, but yeah, I,
we don't know if he had come through here
and we're just, we're trying to find him.

(01:32:56):
- Ah, sounds like yourfriend was an awesomer, huh?
- Ah, yes. He wasn't that awesomer,
but he was, he was prettyawesome. But , I get,
- I get what you do.
I get what you're doing there, buddy,
but racial jokes don'tplay in this establishment.
I'm just,
- I'm sorry, I wasn't joking.
I was serious. ,

(01:33:17):
- Um,- .
Wait. Um, but can you tell me,
is there any more detailsyou can give me about the,
what happened to the bug bears?
- Ah, this not much to say.
A group of slaves, uh,just decided one day
to go and eradicate them.

(01:33:39):
I don't know. It's like
- They just killed them.
They didn't like take them and,
and take them on ships away from here.
- Well, I mean, I, Ijust know the hearsay.
I wasn't actually there totell it, to actually see it,
but, uh, to my understanding, most of them, most of 'em, uh,
turned into, uh, rugs.

(01:34:00):
If you catch my drift.
I'm sure some of them probablygot sold, you know, there's,
there's money to be made in that,
but, uh, you know,
they don't call it theeradication for nothing.
- Do you know why?- Well, like I said, that,
that all happened up in Wadi.
I mean, I wasn't there to see it.

(01:34:21):
I just know that it happened.
Uh, you know, you know, the slave types,
who knows why they do what they do.
You know, they, they don't,they don't see certain species
as being people, you know.
So, you know, when, when, when someone looks at you
as property, I mean, it's hardto, it is hard to really try

(01:34:41):
to explain that to somebody who, you know,
doesn't feel the same way about it.
- Yes, I'm familiar with discrimination.
Uh, just sad.
We once had a bug bear friend.

(01:35:03):
- Yeah. Was you,
I thought you said therewas a It was an awesomer.
- Yeah, we've had a few friends we've met,
and some are lost, some are still with us.
I'm a friend of that flute player
or whatever. She's playing up there.
- Oh, yeah, she, she'stearing it up up there.

(01:35:25):
- Yeah.- But, but let, let's, let me try
to help you find your, uh,your awesomer friend at least,
uh, you know, when did she, when did they come through?
- I, I think it was like two years ago.
- Oh, why, why were they coming through?
I mean, two years is kindof a hard trail to pick up,
but maybe if, uh, I knewwhat they were doing.

(01:35:48):
- Yeah. I didn't knowif you knew anybody with
somebody official and that theymight have records from two
years ago or something thatwhere they could look it up or,
- And that they werearrested here in, in Erford?
- No, it was in water deep.- Oh.
- But we think that the, oh, if
- You trail came.

(01:36:08):
Oh, so what you're saying, two years ago,
they were arrested in water deep
and they were being sent through Deford.
- Um, that's what our friendsthink. I don't know what
- Oh, so they were going to Baldus Gate?
- Yes.- Oh, well, if you would've said
that this could've been aquicker conversation that route.

(01:36:29):
They stopped doing thatshortly after the eradication.
Uh, basically, uh,
after the eradication, uh, the,
they take care of pretty much everything
in-house up there anymore.
We don't get a lot ofword from Wadi anymore.
- Is there anything elsethat, you know, as I said,

(01:36:49):
it's been a while, it's beentwo years since I've been back
toward this area or water deep
or anywhere around here, is,were there any other big events
or anything else that you can tell me?
- Um, not off the, notoff the top of my head.
I can't think of nothing. But,uh, you know, I mean, that's,

(01:37:09):
that's kind of a big deal.
- Yeah. Just seems like I've missed,
we've missed a lot and I'mjust wondering how much
- Yeah.
Well, I mean, it,
it's like the old firstsaying goes, you know,
the more things change, themore things stay the same. So

(01:37:31):
- I I have another question too,
which I don't know if you'd be familiar.
Yeah. Um, did you know,
and I didn't really know themwhile myself or anything,
and they certainly were not friends
of mine being theupstanding palate, and I am,
but there was a, thereused to be a crime family

(01:37:54):
or something in water deep,
and there was a womannamed Mary something,
and I believe she was killed.
- You see his eyes getthe size of saucers.
He's looking around. He is like, kind
of giving you the cut symbol
by waving his hand across his neck, like,
- Okay.

(01:38:14):
I was just trying to figureout if anything else happened
with that situation.
All I know is that she was killed,
and a lot of her people were.
- Yeah, Mr. I don't, I I don't want
to involve myself in anything
that you were just talkingabout there, but, um,
- That's fine.

(01:38:35):
- I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm gonna give you,
I'm gonna cue you in on something.
Uh, that's not something you wanna
talk about out in the open.
- It's good to know. I figured.
Well, I figured that, uh, that that's
not something great to talk about, period.
But I know you

(01:38:58):
bar keeps tend to hear things,
and even when people don'ttalk to you, they're still
around talking when you're around.
So I just didn't know if youmight have known something.
- Yeah, no, uh, I, I appreciate what I,
I appreciate the sentiment of, you know,
but, uh, yeah, some things wejust, uh, don't talk about.

(01:39:18):
And, uh, yeah.
But, uh, your friend, ifthey went to Bald Ass Gate
two years ago for fighting, that was,
that was the reason why they sent him
to Balders Gate was for fighting,
- Um, supposedly.
And that's, that's why
- That's kind of a heftything to do for fighting.
- That's why we were concerned,

(01:39:40):
because it did, did not seem fair.
- Gosh, I don't know if, ifit was just for fighting, he,
your friend would've been let out by now.
God only knows where, wherethey'd be at this point.
- Oh, thank you for talking.
I'll just enjoy my very light ale.

(01:40:02):
- It's, it's a mead. Light
- Mead.
Light mead. Sorry, sorry. No offense. Yes.
- No, no, no. None.None taken. None taken.
It is easily confused, but one's made from wheat,
the other's made from honey.
So just throwing that out there.
I didn't wanna set incorrectexpectations for you.
- Okay. Sounds

(01:40:24):
- Wonderful.
- . All- Right. In the meantime,
back at the church, what'sgoing on between Gareth and Poo?
- I'm just sort of feeling him out.
If he just wants to sit,
you know, I'm just gonna let him sit.
I'll be near him just incase he wants to talk.
But, um, other than that, just sort
of taken in the ambiance.

(01:40:51):
Yes, friend Poo.
- Oh, why did this happen?
- Things happen sometimesfor reasons we don't know.
Sometimes. We never know the reason.
That's one of the, the,
the reasons why we needto just be faithful

(01:41:12):
and do the things that we know is right.
What we did was right.
- It - Doesn't, doesn'tmatter. It doesn't matter
what else happened.
Because if we didn't do what was right,
if we weren't being faithful, then we wouldn't be,
wouldn't have beenbeing true to ourselves.

(01:41:35):
And there's no guaranteethat if we did anything else,
that anything would've changed.
Things may have been worseif we had done other things.
- Oh, yes. But I, I, I foughtin the street with Callum.
I forced him to escape with me.
I, I lost, uh, Christopher

(01:41:55):
'cause I was, wasn'teven paying attention to
what was going on in my own village.
And then I, I, I left on my people now,
and now all of them are gone.
- We don't know that. Andwe will keep being faithful.

(01:42:18):
We will keep doing the right thing,
and we will make surethat when we find out
people will be broughtto justice if need be.
And we will know in our heartsthat we did the right thing.
We were faithful.
- I don't, I don't know.

(01:42:39):
How can I know what is the right thing?
- Well, I, I have a book here.
It's the Western Book of the Dead.
It was given to me a while ago.
It is something thatmy family believes in,

(01:43:02):
and it has some interesting truths in it.
And to tell the truth, I'mnot exactly sure if they,
if the promises in herebelong to someone like me,
because I'm not human,
but the truths are still truths

(01:43:25):
and I follow them because it's the truth.
To deny it would be folly.
So, I, I could read it to you.
I could read it with you if you'd like.
I could leave it here foryou to read by yourself.
But this is, this iswhere I get my grounding.

(01:43:48):
This is why I walked away fromyou all when you were doing
anything with slavery,
because slavery is nothing
that you want to get involved with.
Not even as baited, not even to
tease out the bad things in there.

(01:44:10):
It goes so much deeper that
it's almost incomprehensiblethe way that evil has its hold
on these towns in thiscountry, in these countries.
I've grown up in a throneroom, I've grown up
with royalty, and I've been in,

(01:44:34):
in meetings sometimes I waslistening outside the door,
but I got a sense that you don't just try
to take something out of a larger hole
because it will just makethe entire hole collapse.
And that can be even worsethan being able to deal with

(01:44:56):
that hole in a different way.
So when you were trying todo something with slavery,
I needed to walk away.
That was me being faithfulto who I am, to the truth
that I understand.
I never wanted to desert you,

(01:45:16):
but no one was listening tome at the time, so I needed
to do what was right.
This book really explainsit much better than I can
- At this point.
Uh, bell walks in
and she's got a arm full of sacks,
and she's, uh, walking offtowards the kitchen area

(01:45:38):
that's off, off in a different room.
And there, and there'ssome, a couple other people
who are, uh, pouring in.
They start, uh, putting updecorations around the, uh,
around the sanctuary.
- Do I recognize them?
- Um, most of them you don't,
but you do.

(01:45:58):
See, gotta make sure I'msaying his name right.
'cause I think I misp, I thinkI mispronounced it earlier.
You do, you do see, is it durak?
- Uh, I say Drac, but you could say
- Durak.
Okay. Yeah. So you, yousee Drac walking in, um,
and what race is, is he, just so I can

(01:46:21):
match your imagination, um,
- Dak is an orc or half. Okay.
- So you see this, I'mgonna make him an orc,
and Dak comes in
and he's, uh, you can tellhe's primarily put in charge of
reaching things and hangingthe high stuff up on the wall.
- Alright? Uh, I go over
to him, AK Friend.

(01:46:43):
Oh, hey Gareth. How you
- Doing?
- Very good. Very good. Andit's good to see you again.
- Good to see you.- How have you been?
- Oh, I've been great. I wasjust over at the prancing pony.
They're, they got this awesome, uh,
this awesome band of Bards over there.
They did a, they did a reallywicked aqua bun, ,

(01:47:04):
- Wicked as in bad.
So
- Still the same Gareth
- , and still the same Dak.
So good to see you again.
- Yeah. So what brings you into town?
I mean, I, they said you werehere and I got all excited.
I had to come over withthe decoration party
and reached tall places. Apparently.

(01:47:26):
- still good at that?
No, I, we were traveling throughand we were in water deep,
but, uh, we left
before the, uh, theunpleasantries up there.
I'm not sure how much you've heard.
- Um, ah, the eradication, right? Yes.
- Yes. And, uh, we heard
that Stumble foot made his way up there
and, um, hasn't been heard from.
So we were thinking aboutmaybe going and finding him.

(01:47:50):
- Oh, yeah. If you, uh,
if you run into him upthere, definitely send Word.
We haven't heard from him.
We're getting a little bit concerned.
- I will, if I do find him.
- Life, you know, life as a missionary,
it's always a little bit, uh, on,
on life on the edge, so tospeak. You know what I mean?
- Yes, definitely.

(01:48:10):
- So, uh, hey, so wheredid you, where did you go?
If, if you, I mean, apparentlyit sounds like you, uh,
don't know a whole lotabout what's going on,
but from what, uh, bell was talking about,
- No, we were, uh, in a place
where it just seemed liketime flew for some reason.
And by the time we gotback here, it was two years
after everything happened,

(01:48:32):
- So, wow.
Must must've been a good timeif you didn't realize two
years had gone by .
- Well, we did get alot of com accomplished,
but, um, other than that,uh, we do seem
to have lost a little bit of time.
- Yeah. So, well, hey, I gotta,I gotta finish putting some
of this stuff up, but, uh,

(01:48:53):
it's good seeing you, uh, very good.
And, uh, hope to talk to you at the,
at the, at the thing tonight. Yes,
- Definitely.
Find me out.
- All right. So, eveningcomes, uh, you know, uh, the,
uh, taverns in full swing.
Are you guys gonna stayat the, uh, prancing pony,
or are you guys gonnahead back to the church?

(01:49:13):
- I'm gonna stay as longas I can make money.
- Well, the money, the moneythat you have is the money
that you have, regardlessof how long you're staying.
So , I'll stay aslong as she's staying.
I, I, I roll, I rolled foryour money for the evening.
So if you stay longer, that's fine.
It's a character choice, butit's not gonna affect the

(01:49:34):
overall outcome of the gold.
- Right? No, I knew that.
I was just saying mycharacter would say, as long
as she thinks she can get money.
- All right. Well, so the, uh,
church Quare goes intofull swing, uh, Gareth
and Poo, you guys noticed that Orba
and Alan are not there for it.

(01:49:59):
Okay. But there is,there is plenty of food
and there is a gathering ofprobably about 175 people there.
- Wow.- Wow.
And there's quite a few people there.
Where, where are our friends?
I don't, I don't recallwhere they went to.

(01:50:21):
- I'm sure they're okay.
Um, after this is over,if they're not back
yet, I'll go check.
I'll go find them. Makesure that they're okay.
You though should probably stayhere with all the weirdness
that's going on with bug bears.
Um, I think the bestthing is to have you out

(01:50:44):
of sight, off the streets.
- Yes. That's probably right.
I, I don't trust myself right now anyway.
I think that the wrong thingcould probably set me off.
- Well, eat some good food, meet some good friends,
get some good rest, andthe morning may bring

(01:51:05):
other surprises.
- Um, as you say that, uh,
bell comes up to the two of you.
She goes, so I was, I was just, uh,
well, the, the church took up a, uh, kind
of a love offering for, for you guys.

(01:51:26):
And, uh, and, uh, well,
you said I'm, I'm sorry, Mr.
Bug Bay. I didn't catch a name when,
earlier when I wastalking to Gar with you.
- It's, it's poo.
- Yeah, poo. I'm realizingthat, uh, you may be affiliated
with, uh, you might know some people
who are affiliated withwhat I was talking about.

(01:51:48):
And so we took up a love offering for you.
And I, I got this for you.
And she hands out this gallon drum
of honey. Who hands it to you?
- Is that, oh, could it be, is
that honey? I smell?
- Yeah, we, we thought that it,
that might brighten your day a little bit.
And then we also got yousomething a little bit,

(01:52:09):
uh, practical.
We, we di we dived into the, uh, church.
Cough is a little bit for this
because, uh, we, we feltthat you, if you heading up
that direction, you probably need this.
And she hands you a hat.
- A hat. I, I don't know.
Is it my size?

(01:52:29):
- Oh, you, you're notfamiliar with what this is?
- I, I can't, I can't say that I am.
- Oh, well, uh, it's, it'scalled a hat of many faces.
- Like a hat of many faces.
- Right Here. Let me, let me show you.
And she takes the hat fromme. She goes, I want you
to think about somebody else.

(01:52:51):
Think about somebody else.
- Okay. I, uh, I think about Callum
- And then she puts the hat on your head.
And Gareth, you watchPoo turn into a spitting
likeness of Callum.
- What, what just happened?
Is that, that's not you, Callum. Is it
- A column?
Oh, where's Callum? The column's here.

(01:53:13):
- P You, it looks likeyou turned into Callum.
I think it's the hat. Is it the hat?
- It is the hat.- That's incredible.
- That, that is incredible.
- We, we thought, we thoughtyou might need it in order
to get around without beingaccosted by, uh, people looking

(01:53:35):
for 75 gold.
- Yes. Yes. This will comein very handy. Thank you.
Very. Thank you very much.
- I give her and she lean, she
leans in and she gives you a hug.
- Okay.- Aww. Callum gets a hug.
- I, I give a hug back, I guess.

(01:53:56):
Kind of an awkward bear hug.
- She goes. So anyway, feel free
to help yourself to the buffet.
Everybody's kind of waiting for you.
'cause you're the guests of honor, so, oh,
- Wow.
- I thought I, I, we kind
of thought your friendswould be here, so, um, I,
do you know if they'll be coming or not?
- They may be. I'm not sureexactly what their plans are.
- Alright, well there'splenty of food to go around.

(01:54:17):
So, and then, uh, whatever's left over,
you guys can take on yourjourneys for, for provision.
- Excellent. Thank you so much.
- Should we get our friends?
I I don't want them to miss the party.
I, I'd like for them to be here.
- I'm sure they will be. If they
have finished their mission.

(01:54:39):
I don't want to, uh, interruptthem in the middle of it.
So why don't we eat?
And, uh, after the party, perhaps we can even,
uh, step out a little.
Uh, me personally, perhaps you can come too
and test out your hat.
- Oh, yes, yes. That soundslike a good idea. Alright.
- There was, there was a quickquestion here from Alan in

(01:55:00):
our private chats here.
I'm just gonna throw this out there.
Uh, the hat of many faces,it's an illusion spell.
It's, it is just an illusion spell.
So you are still a bug bear.
You don't change any of your qualities,
it just changes the way you look.
And that's it.
- So it doesn't matterif, like, so if I wanted
to be someone smallerthan myself would that

(01:55:20):
- People would fill the space.
People would only see space.
People would only see the smaller thing.
But, uh, if they were to reach out
and touch the space above you,
they would feel something therethat they can't see. Right.
- Cool.- Alright.
- So wonderful.- We eat some food
and see if our friends are back.

(01:55:43):
- Yeah, I, I dip everything in honey
- .
Of course you do.
- Um, all right, so time goes by.
It's going on about 11 o'clock.
The, the, uh, the tavern is
starting to clear out a little bit.
'cause like I said, it's Tuesday

(01:56:04):
and no one's gonna partytoo hard on a Tuesday.
And, uh, some, some
of the Bart have alreadystarted leaving as well.
- Okay. So I'm gonna go upto, do I keep forgetting?
Do I have Gareth with me or is it Yeah,
- Dog or Orba.
- I go up to Orba. Well, darling,

(01:56:24):
do you think we should head on out?
- I think so. Were you, didyou find any information out?
- No, but I've got a quite a bit of gold,
so that's always good.
- True. Especially since you Oh, do I know
that she had some stolen ?
- Did she, did you say you, did she say

(01:56:46):
that you had some stolen?
I don't think she did. I think she said,
- I don't think she did.
Yeah, she just had a encounter.
- I keep my lips tight about my money.
- Yeah. Keep your lipstight about everything.
Mis mischievous.
- Mm-Hmm. That's
'cause I'm secretly makingit up as I go along.

(01:57:08):
- . So
- , yes.
Let's go.
- Okay, so I guess we'reheading back to the church.
- All right, you'reheading back to the church.
By the time you guysget back to the church,
you see a couple pe a couplestragglers leaving the church.
But for the most part, when you walk inside,

(01:57:28):
the church is pretty much empty.
Uh, you see a bunch ofdecorations around the church
and you see a set of tablesalong one side of the room
that has, uh, some hotdishes and well now cold
and, uh, some salads and what whatnot.
Most of them have beenpicked over pretty well.
- Do they have any orc forks?- You mean your hands?

(01:57:52):
- not an a fork. So
- That would be disturbing ifthey just had a hands around.
- So let me guess. This is, sowe made it back to the church
and now they're gonna walkinto the bar. They didn't,
- They didn't say that theyhad left yet, so I mean,
- No, we're still, yeah.
Okay.

(01:58:13):
- Wow. Uh, I'm with, so I'mwith sitting with Gareth then.
- Alright, do- You, do
you have, do you stillhave your hat on? Yeah.
- Yeah. I'm, I'm Alright.
- So about this one. How about this one?
You found him? .
- . Callum. Whatare you doing here?
- I'm sitting there with,no, I'm sitting there with,
with Gareth, trying tothink of different people

(01:58:35):
to, to turn into.
Um, so I, I do one that look looks like
- Here.
Here's one on Big Moon and scary.
- But I turn it, I look likeOrba. I turn to look like
- .
- You watch Cal watchCallum turn into Orba.
When you guys say, whatare you doing here,

(01:58:57):
- Callum, what's going on?
- What? Oh, you're back.
- Except that I look like Orba right now.
- Yeah. And with poo's voice. Yeah.
- So his voice doesn't change either?
- No. Oh, just the vis just the visual.
- And I was just thinking,I wonder how much, uh, bug,

(01:59:21):
bear fur it would take tocover one of these pews.
- A what?- . Akia.
That may not have been theright statement. .
- Well, they're a littlehard on my bottom .
- Or maybe we should startthis conversation over
- .

(01:59:41):
- Let's go back to where you came in.
- Oh, look, it's me. Areyou making fun of me?
- Oh, oh, sorry. Oh,bug. I've got this new
- Hat and I take off the hat
- And it turns and Orba turns into poo.
- Yeah. Okay, cool.

(02:00:02):
- Well that, is this just the most genius
thing I have ever seen?
- Oh, yes. And the, the kindpeople here, uh, gave it
to me along with somebody.
- And which one do you like more?
- Oh, the honey, of course.- . Okay.
- But it's almost gone.- Oh,

(02:00:23):
- Of course it is.
- Um,- There's only a smack row left.
- Oh. Have you as anyone here
learned anything more?
We weren't able to learn very much.
- No. I think, um, what we,what we know is what we know.

(02:00:48):
So I think, um, perhaps heading up
to water deep might be our next good step.
- I mean, is that the nextstep you want to take poo?
Or are you wanting to goto Bulger gate for Callum?

(02:01:09):
It would seem that even ifCallum is being held, at least
he's in a safe place, whereas we need to,
I suppose I, we, we needto face the bigger problem
and find out whathappened to your brethren.

(02:01:33):
- Well, I I will say this, this party
has lifted my spirits some.
I I think that if,
if you are up for it,I, I would appreciate
going back and, and findingout more about my tribe

(02:01:55):
and, and my family.
And as you said, Callumisn't going anywhere
anytime soon, hopefully.
- Well, I think that, that we can
arrange for that to happen.
- I thank you all for,for sticking with me
and I haven't done much for you.

(02:02:17):
- You've done plenty for us.
This is what friendsdo, they stick together
- And honey is sticky.We don't have a choice.
- .- Well, I think you are
nonetheless, I think,
although perhaps I will turn in

(02:02:37):
for the night here soon.
- Yeah. So I think that's ourbest plan is to camp out here
for the night and thenhead out in the morning.
