Welcome back to the Pleonastic podcast!
Join us as we begin reading Lois Lowry's 1993 young adult dystopian novel The Giver. In part one, we share fun facts about the author and how her life experiences influenced the way she wrote the novel. Those discoveries lead to discussions as we share our thoughts on the world of The Giver .
We, as always, keep it pleonastic and do a lot of jumping around in chronology so we do encourage everyone to read the book if they can. Check the end of the description for a list of trigger warnings. A lot of child suffering in this book, guys.
Children's book my ass.
Enjoy the Episode!
P.S. Darwin's microphone got stolen by The Entity, so in this episode he is actually shouting in real time to you personally and that is why he sounds different. A friendly owl returned the microphone so in the next book he will sound normal again.
Thank you for understanding.
If the audio volume and quality in this episode go up and down, no they don’t.
Gas-lighting isn’t real.

Child abuse including corporal punishment, child endangerment including freezing and starving, child death including drowning and euthanasia. There will also be discussions about euthanasia in regards to the elderly and as it’s use as punishment, and as a means to suicide.
This is a dystopian society that runs on control and swift punishment, it is a generally upsetting episode.
