Universal przeczuwał wielką klapę tego projektu, dlatego bardzo szybko zdecydował się nie wypuszczaniu filmu "Doom: Anihilacja" w kinach, a jedynie na nośnikach cyfrowych. I tak 1 października 2019 otrzymaliśmy horror sci-fi w kosmosie. Naukowcy eksperymentują nad tajemniczymi bramami, które okazują się teleportami. Niestety, nie wszystko idzie zgodnie z planem i na stację badawczą dostają się kosmiczne potwory. W tym samym czasie na stację dociera elitarna jednostka Marines, zesłana tam za karę, pod dowództwem Kapitana (który nie jest ważny) i porucznik Joan Dark, naszej głównej bohaterki.
