new episode.
I'm going to talk all aboutnetworking why networking is

(00:27):
important for podcasters and whyit is even more important for
female and non-binary podcasters.
I have been in the podcastingspace now for three or four
years and what I have found tobe one of the biggest keys to my
success, to my journey inpodcasting, to continuing and

(00:50):
keep going as a podcaster, isnetworking.
Networking is so important toeach of us as individuals
because most of us as podcasters, as businesswomen, as
entrepreneurs, we are behind amic, behind a camera alone or
with one other person.
That's most of what we're doingin podcasting and we need that

(01:14):
connection with other women,other podcasters.
Networking has just been keyfor me to find my community, to
find my support, to share myexpertise, to gain more
visibility, to buildrelationships, to connect, to
collaborate.
Collaboration is so importantas a podcaster, but networking

(01:37):
also helps me keep going.
It keeps me inspired by whatother women podcasters are doing
, about what I want to try anddo after I've been inspired by
them and, honestly, just keepgoing.
In general, sometimes you wonderare you making a difference?
Is anyone listening?
Why am I doing this?
And you question everything.

(01:59):
I think that happens in allareas of business, but I know as
a podcaster it can become verylonely and you kind of feel
isolated and wonder is anyonelistening?
Is this making a difference?
And so, for me, networking andfinding my community has been
crucial.
So let's walk through the 10reasons why you, as a podcaster,
need to be networking.
Number one you need to expandyour reach.

(02:23):
Number one you need to expandyour reach.
That's right.
Networking allows us to connectwith other creatives, it expands
our audience and it reaches newlisteners.
I have been to numerousnetworking events and met people
I would have never metotherwise, who had never heard
of me or my podcast, who lovedwhat I was doing, loved my

(02:46):
topics or what I wanted to talkabout on my podcast, and they
wanted to listen.
I have found listeners, I havefound collaborators, I have
found guests through networking.
So expanding your reach throughnetworking is crucial and it
also helps you find newopportunities is crucial and it

(03:08):
also helps you find newopportunities.
That is so true.
For me, networking has helpedme find not only new guests for
my podcast, but it also hasfound opportunities for me to
guest on other people's podcasts, and that is crucial.
Networking helps you make thatfirst connection so you don't
feel like you're cold calling oremailing or messaging people
and they're like who are you?
Why do I want to talk to you?

(03:28):
So it's really important tohave that connection.
But networking also opens upother types of opportunity.
You may learn something newabout what's going on in the
industry.
You're going to stay informedabout changes, events, other
types of opportunities to meetpeople and to expand your
network.
I know it's been throughnetworking and community that I

(03:51):
first learned about podcastconferences like PodFest and
Podcast Movement, and it wasbecause of the people I've met
and networked with and who havebecome a part of my community
that I was not only inspired butencouraged to attend these
events, get to meet these peoplein person, get to hang out, get

(04:11):
to share, just have a good time, but also learn together about
podcasting.
Please, network whatever yourpodcast is about.
You want to not only networkwith podcasters in general, but
you want to network with otherpodcasters who talk about what
you talk about so that you canlearn from them, and vice versa.
Okay, number two reason thatyou, as a podcaster, need to be

(04:33):
networking is to find supportand build relationships.
So support systems are crucialfor women in all areas of life.
I have found, as anentrepreneur, as a solopreneur,
as they call it, someone whoworks from home in her home

(04:53):
office by herself, who onlyconnects with people via texts
and emails and messages and Zoom, of course that having a
support system is crucial.
As podcasters, we need a supportsystem of people who are like
us, who understand thechallenges of what we're doing
every day, but also cancelebrate the triumphs and the

(05:16):
successes.
So important, let me tell you,you want to have someone who
understands what you're goingthrough, who has been there.
You, you want to have someonewho understands what you're
going through, who has beenthere?
Who is pod fading?
Hello, I think every podcasterhas had that feeling.
You just feel like, why am Idoing?
I'm just to keep going.
What am I making a difference?
The fun of podcasting?

(05:37):
No-transcript.
We need breaks from everything.
We need breaks from podcastingtoo.
I know I have taken them, butto keep me going and come back
from those breaks and keeppushing through is the support
system, and the other crucialpart of this is not only finding
your support system butbuilding those relationships,

(05:59):
networking and finding yourpeople.
As I say, your tribe, yourcommunity, your people, as I say
, your tribe, your communityreally does foster a culture of
support and happiness, camaraderie, creating a positive
and empowering community.
It is so important to have thatand to stay consistent in
finding that support but thenbuilding those relationships.

(06:22):
I know it takes effort on mypart and on others to do that
with me, and so it's just reallyimportant to find those
relationships and build them.
It's something that Iconsciously do with my friends
who are podcasters, but alsojust in podcasting in general.
I've actually started a newmonthly network event called the
Women's Podcaster Party, andit's what I want to do.

(06:45):
I want to help people find thatsupport and build those
relationships, and if I can helpsomebody else do that, it's
even better for me.
Okay, our third reason that you,as a podcaster, need to be
networking, why it is to learn, grow, inspire and be inspired.
So, as women and non-binarypodcasters, networking provides

(07:09):
us the opportunities to learnfrom others, to exchange our
ideas and grow in general aswomen, as professionals and
creators as podcasters and Iknow it's so true I've learned
so much from other people that Ihave met over Zoom and now many
in person at podcastconferences.
And it's really important tolearn from others, because why

(07:32):
reinvent the wheel if somebodyelse has already figured out how
to do it right?
I know recently I was meetingwith several friends over Zoom
who are podcasters.
We were talking about video anddoing video and editing, and I
mentioned what I use for editing, which I use Descript for audio
and video editing, and theother two people I was talking

(07:55):
to haven't used it and theydidn't realize how easy it was
to edit video with this.
And I'm like, hey, let's jumpon Zoom another time, I'll show
you how to use it, your mindwill be blown.
That is what networking isabout.
It's about learning from eachother, helping each other grow
and be inspired to try somethingnew that maybe you haven't done
before.
So networking connects us aswomen podcasters with other

(08:18):
women podcasters, other womencreators, providing inspiration,
support and encouragement alongthe journey.
We need all of that.
We need inspiration, we needsupport, we need encouragement.
I know along my journey therehave been points where I've
thought about stopping my petpodcast.
It doesn't matter, no one'slistening.
Should I start a second podcast?

(08:39):
Will anybody listen to that?
And so being inspired by otherpodcasters, especially female
podcasters, has really beenimportant to me and having their
support that I know I can ask aquestion of, or support from,
or especially with my newpodcast.
You guys are listening.
This is podcast number two forme and it is because of the

(08:59):
networks I have created, thecommunity I have, that I'm
having guests on this veryeasily.
I haven't had a hard timefinding guests.
I have several interviewsrecorded at this moment.
So many people are willing tohelp me create and grow this new
podcast, and I wouldn't haveany of that if I wasn't
networking over the last threeyears.
So learning, growing, beinginspired, but also receiving

(09:26):
feedback.
We all need feedback.
It's hard to take it it's muchworse to see a really negative
review on your podcast and siton Zoom or in person with a
friend who is also a podcasterand say, hey, was this good, was
this bad?
What did you think?
You know we need thatconstructive criticism from our
friends, from our peers, fromother people who are in the same

(09:48):
business and media as we are,and in the end, it's all about
helping us to improve our showsand our content, and we all need
that Be networking to learn togrow and also just to be
inspired to say, hey, look whatthey're doing, I can do it too.
So important, okay, number fourreason why you, as a podcaster,

(10:09):
need to be networking is thatyou will gain visibility and
you'll be able to do things likecross-promote for even more
visibility.
So networking helps us, asfemale podcasters, to increase
our visibility within thepodcasting community and beyond,
because you never know who younever know.
When you meet someone in apodcast community or group,

(10:30):
they're going to tell peopleoutside the podcaster group.
So that's just.
You're just gaining exponentialgrowth of visibility because of
those new people that you'remeeting and you're also
establishing them as a trustedperson that they can go to, but
that you're establishingyourself as a trusted voice in
your content area, in your niche.

(10:51):
Oh, hey, she knows pets.
I can go ask her this.
Or my friend just had thisquestion.
I'm going to send them to her.
Tell her to listen to herpodcast because she knows what
she's talking about.
So gaining that visibilitywithin the people you're
networking with, but also newopportunities, from guest
appearances to sponsorships.
Trust me, I have learned aboutstuff through other people,

(11:13):
whether it's the editingsoftware I use conference, I
should go to a speakingopportunity, I should apply to a
new podcast, I should listen tonew podcast, I should apply to
be a speaker.
On so many things, many, manymore.
I have learned through others, through networking, through
community.
So important to keep growingyour visibility and cross

(11:36):
promotion with other podcastersis such a great tool because you
are helping each other.
Ok, number five reason numberfive why you, as a podcaster,
need to be networking is for tocollaborate and grow.
So, just like I said before, when you meet new people, that's
expanding your visibility andthen they'll share with others.

(11:57):
But when you collaboratewhether you do there on your
podcast as a guest, you're ontheir podcast as a guest, which
is cross promotion.
Episode swapping I have doneseveral times.
But there's other ways you canhelp.
You can tell other people aboutthe podcast.
You can collaborate together ona masterclass or an event, a

(12:19):
summit, a retreat, in person oronline.
You can collaborate on a blogpost or an email list or
whatever it may be.
There are so many differentways that you can collaborate
and help each other grow yourshows and reach new heights.
Networking also connects us, aswomen podcasters, with

(12:40):
potential collaborators, whetherit be, like I've said, joint
projects, episodes, events.
Creating opportunities formutual growth is key to our own
growth and increase invisibility.
Okay, number six why, as apodcaster, you need to be
networking.
Not only is it going to keepyou going, it's going to boost

(13:03):
your confidence.
Yes, I need confidence boostingall the time.
Sometimes it's a little CBDgummy.
I need to boost my confidence.
That day it's, you know, sharing a new idea with a friend
or just, you know, talkingabout what's really hard right
now, what's really keeping mestuck.
Networking is key to keeping yougoing, to boost your confidence

(13:25):
and want to keep doing more.
So when we network, it allowsus to share our work with each
other, receive feedback, gainmore confidence in our abilities
as creators, as podcasters, aswomen.
I know there have been topicsI've wanted to cover on both of
my podcasts and I'm like I don'tknow if this is something

(13:46):
people want to hear, want totalk about, want to think about,
and if I can speak to somebodyelse about that and say, hey,
this is what I want to do.
What do you guys think?
That feedback, that support, iscrucial to keeping my
confidence from dipping when mydownloads aren't great, when I
don't feel like I'm connectingwith my listeners.
Networking in my community offellow podcasters is key to

(14:11):
keeping me going, to give methat boost in confidence when I
need it.
Okay, number seven reason whyyou, as a podcaster, need to be
networking is to share yourexpertise.
People need to know what youknow.
You have to share yourexpertise as a podcaster because
, no matter what you think ofyourself, you know something

(14:31):
that some other new podcasterdoesn't know, or some other
podcaster who's been doing it awhile and it's coming back and
doesn't remember xyz, you knowsomething they don't.
I know that there have beenthings when I worked with my
clients and I'll think, oh, thisis easy, xyz, and they'll be
like wait, what I had no idea.
That's how you create an rs,get put on spotify, get put on

(14:53):
apple, create a blog post, whatever it is.
There are so many things we doevery day as podcasters, as
creators, as entrepreneurs, thatwe think, oh, everybody knows
that, but not everybody does so.
Networking is a key way to showwhere you shine, what you know,
what you can talk about at thedrop of a hat, how you can help

(15:14):
other people to grow and expandand then, down the line, they're
going to do the same for you.
So you want to share yourexpertise, you want to share
your knowledge with others tocontribute to the growth of
podcasting in general.
We have to contribute so thatthe podcasting community can
keep growing, and it's alsoimportant because when you're

(15:35):
sharing your expertise, otherpeople will too, and you're
going to hear about emergingtrends, new technology,
innovations you didn't knowabout.
I'm always hearing about a newapp or a new platform, a new
software.
You know there's things like AI, constantly changing.
I'll talk to somebody else.
Oh, they used a script too.
Oh, did you know you can dothis now?
And they're like what, when didthat happen?

(15:56):
Script, too oh, did you knowyou can do this now?
And they're like what, when didthat happen?
So many things that we missbecause we're so busy, and so
sharing your expertise is agreat way to show people what
you know, but also to get themto help you, too, and share what
they know with you.
Okay, number eight Are you ready?
Here's the reason.
Number eight as a podcaster, you need to be networking to
stay informed, to know what theheck is going on out there in

(16:17):
the podcasting world.
You know we don't listen toevery podcast.
We don't check in with everypodcast platform.
Like, I don't even know what'snew on iHeartRadio right now.
I don't know what are the toppodcasts on Spotify.
There's so many areas withinpodcasting that networking helps
you to stay informed and todiscover new perspectives you

(16:38):
may not have known about.
So when we're networking, we'rebuilding relationships and
building our community.
It helps us to stay up to datewith whatever the trends are.
What are the new development?
I think I was talking toanother podcaster when I learned
that Buzzsprout, which is myhost platform, has an app for
your phone.
Now I'm like, oh my gosh, that's so much easier than

(16:59):
having to pull it up in the webbrowser and refresh it.
I learned about that fromsomeone else, even though I've
used Buzzsprout for years.
This was a brand new thing.
Probably got buried in all myemails.
I didn't see it.
Someone else told me about it.
So staying informed, learningabout new things, new trends,
new apps, new ideas, new ways topost video, whatever it may be

(17:20):
Like, what are the bestpractices?
What are people doing?
That's the fastest, the easiest, but still you're getting
quality out of your content.
So important to stay ahead ofthe curve and to learn from
others, and that's not justabout in terms of topics like
technology, but just abouttopics of what we're talking
about.
What's your content?

(17:41):
Are you sharing diverse voicesand perspectives on your podcast
?
Do you need to learn fromsomeone else who's done it
before you in a different way?
Now it's really important to bebuilding our content, but also
expanding our own perspectivesand understandings and making
sure that whatever we're doingis helping to promote diverse

(18:02):
voices and perspectives.
I think this is so importantfor women and non-binary
podcasters.
We are the voice of other womenand we want to make sure we're
sharing all of the voices thatare out there that need to be
heard.
One of the reasons I startedthis podcast Okay, number nine.
The number nine reason that you,as a podcaster, need to be

(18:24):
networking.
It allows us to share resources.
You know I have gotten so manytools, tips, little how-tos by
networking and being with otherpodcasters.
Okay, here's one.
When I was first podcasting, Iused Zoom.
I had no idea that you couldrecord it on two audio tracks,

(18:45):
so what I'm talking, what myguest is talking, are two
different audios, so that we canclean them up separately.
I was like I don't even knowwhat that is.
What do you mean?
Two tracks, how do I do that?
Oh my gosh.
That was a tip that I learnedfrom one of my podcast community
and it's invaluable.
So many things like that we needhow to create from our content.
We all struggle with this.

(19:06):
We publish this content, we putout episodes we love, we feel
so empowered by, but how do wereally make it accessible to
people so they can learn too?
Sharing resources is key.
Okay, number 10.
Number 10 reason that you, as apodcaster, need to be networking
.
Stay motivated and inspired.
I've talked about it myself.

(19:27):
The only way you keep going isby learning from others.
Push you to keep going and justdo your best.
You know you want thatencouragement, that motivation,
that accountability.
That is key.
For me, accountability has beenkey.
It's what I do for my clientswhen they're starting their
podcasts.
So you want to do it.
You want to make a difference inthe lives of others.

(19:48):
You want them to share yourstories.
You want to do it.
You want to make a differencein the lives of others.
You want them to share yourstories.
You want to share theirinsights and expertise, and you
want to do that yourself, butalso learn from others.
So there you go.
There's your 10 reasons that youneed to be networking as a
podcaster.
If you have any questions, sendme an email or DM and I can
give you more info on any one ofthese reasons.

(20:08):
