Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to Podcast
Suck, a podcast about starting,
a podcast where we diveheadfirst into the wild, wacky
and sometimes frustrating worldof podcasting.
If you've ever sat down with amicrophone, hit record and
thought what on earth am I doing?
Or if you're just curious aboutthe magic behind your favorite
shows, then you're in the rightplace.
(00:22):
Get ready for laughs, insightsand a whole lot of what not to
do advice as we embark on thispodcasting journey together.
Let's dive in.
All, right, there we go.
A couple of technicaldifficulties, a new intro in
here for the live stream andcast of the recording of Podcast
(00:50):
Suck.
Another brand new episode Forthose of you just joining us we
go live on Facebook, linkedinand YouTube to record the
episodes for Podcast Suck.
This is, in no stretch of theimagination, a video podcast,
because, well, those thingsdon't even exist.
I don't care how overlypopulated or popular that word
(01:13):
is becoming.
This is an audio podcast.
There is a video component tothe podcast which allows us to
go live on Facebook, linkedinand on YouTube.
We also take the content fromthe episode and repurpose it to
share on socials so more peoplefind out about the show.
(01:35):
Hope everyone's doing greattoday.
If you're tuning in live what'sup?
Drop us a comment If you arelistening to the podcast.
Appreciate you taking some timeout of your day to let me crawl
all up in your earbuds for justa few minutes and help you
better understand what you don'tknow, that you don't know about
the world of podcasting.
(01:56):
ToIf you're a business owner,
(03:18):
starting a podcast is a nobrainer, and that's really who
I'm talking to.
I'm not talking to hobbyists orpeople that kind of want to
start a podcast because it'll befun.
Me and my girlfriends arereally fun when we drink wine
and have conversations.
No, you're not.
That's a terrible for a podcast.
Or maybe you want to startsomething because you like
widgets of some sort or sportsor whatever it may be.
(03:41):
That's totally cool, but Ithink that you need to have a
good, solid reasoning behind it.
You need to have a way tomonetize it.
And if you've got a business, having a podcast allows you to
build relationships, networkwith anybody that you want and
also increase sales and generatemore revenue.
(04:02):
Why?
Well, hopefully you'restructuring your podcast
strategy in such a manner thatyou are interviewing people that
you want to do business with, interviewing people that are in
your pipeline, interviewingpeople that are your prospects.
(06:08):
There's three reasons that youwant to start a podcast as a
business owner.
Number one network with anybodythat you want.
Increase sales, grow yourbusiness because of the podcast.
Reason number two get yoursocial media content game in
check and consistent because ofthe podcast.
I'm recording this podcast liveon Facebook, youtube and
(06:30):
LinkedIn.
My team will take the videoarchive of this live stream,
chop it up into clips and reelsfor me to post on a daily basis
Instagram and TikTok and Shortsand everywhere else you should
be hanging out because, by theway.
That's where the attention is.
It's where the eyeballs arehanging out because, by the way,
that's where the attention is.
(06:50):
It's where the eyeballs are.
So repurposing content solves amajority of your social media
content problems because, let'sface it, you probably suck at
your daily, consistent socialmedia game.
That can all change because ofthe podcast.
Lastly, it makes you a bettercommunicator.
Well, I'm scared to publicspeaking.
I don't like being on camera.
I don't like the sound of myvoice, all that inner critic.
(07:16):
It eventually gets silenced.
What do you mean?
If you interview somebody, youbuild a relationship with them
and then they become a client orcustomer, you aren't going to
give three fiddling rips aboutyour inner critic or what you
think you sound like or looklike, or D all of the above.
(07:37):
See this little sign right here.
If you're watching the livestream, I'll read it to you.
If you listen to the podcast, agood friend, hugh McLeod, aka
Ging void it, says you can'tread the label of the jar you're
in.
Isn't that the truth?
You don't see what I see, youdon't hear what I hear, and
(08:03):
that's all that matters.
Perception is really for mostpeople.
So that third benefit of whyyou should start a podcast.
There it is.
It's your better communicator.
Shuts the inner critic up.
It's a liar.
It's not even real.
It's your own BS story of whatyou think is real.
Unfortunately, some people livetheir lives according to that.
(08:25):
Trying to change all that?
Those are the three reasonsthat you want to start a podcast
.
I recently, uh, was figuringout what we were going to do on
a lead generation and marketingfront for 2025.
Right now, it's my speaking,it's my content, it's my podcast
, it's God, it's referrals.
(08:48):
We also dabble in somemarketing as well.
In addition to that, but it'svery organic.
My good friend, ryan Steumann, aka the hardcore closer, decided
to create a closer IQ test.
It's big in the world of sales, hence his his nickname.
The hardcore closer runs a big, gigantic group called sales
(09:09):
talk for sales pros here onFacebook's got 120,000 members
in it.
It's a brilliant strategy.
He started that, I don't know, eight or nine years ago.
It's grown it to 120,000members.
He posts in there and thensends his team to go in there
and find people that are in thatgroup and recruit them into
(09:30):
Apex, which is the mastermindthat I've been part of for the
past four years.
Anyway, long story short, hecreated a closer IQ test.
What is your IQ as a salescloser?
A lot of salespeople out there.
People probably want to knowwhat it is.
By the way, I'll drop a link inthe show notes to the closer IQ
(09:52):
test so you can check that out.
So you can check that out.
It was a brilliant strategy.
But I thought to myself wait asecond, maybe I can create some
sort of test or quiz orsomething of that nature to help
people.
Number one better understandwhether or not they should start
a pod.
But number two probably a goodlead gen or at least opportunity
(10:14):
.
Yeah, lead gen, that's exactlywhat it is the opportunity to
get people in my ecosystem thatI don't currently know.
So I came up with a.
Should I start a podcast?
Is in this post side note, before I get too sidetracked
here.
Closer IQ testcom is the IQtest, brilliantly put and it's
(10:34):
got scoring and it tells you ifyou suck at sales or what you
need to improve on.
Way more extensive than my quiz, but my quiz still gets the job
done.
Very proud of my quiz.
I created it all on my own.
It was not an easy task by anystretch of the imagination, but
that link is in the show notesof this episode.
If you're listening to thepodcast episode, if you're
watching the live stream, it'sin the caption of the post.
(10:59):
On LinkedIn, facebook andYouTube it's podcastquizonline.
Yes, that's an extension for adomain name.
Go to the quiz.
It's 10 simple questions.
It's going to score you.
It's going to tell youimmediately yes or no.
You should start a podcast.
Then you're going to hear forme from time to time, following
(11:24):
up with you and giving you sometidbits that you may or may not
know about, why you should bestarting a podcast with a call
to action to book a call withmyself, somebody on my team to
chat about what's possible withus helping you make a podcast a
reality.
So again, podcastquizonline.
Go ahead and take it and findout whether or not you are a
good fit to start a podcast.
(11:46):
I don't know how many peoplehave taken the quiz so far, but
I mentioned that headphone cordsare the most incredibly
annoying part of the podcastworld.
I'm thinking maybe I need toget some studio headphones that
have the cord that's coiled.
Maybe that'll do, because thisthing is just constantly.
(12:07):
You can't see it if you'relistening to the podcast, but if
you're watching live stream.
This cord is just constantlyeverywhere.
We're working through it, I tryto sit on it, I try to put it
back behind me, I put it on myshirt before, and then it still
gets tangled.
Anyway, rant over about theheadphone cord, but I do want to
(12:28):
point out that if you pressplay on this episode or you
press play on the live streamand you're watching this or
listening to this right now, there is a reason for that.
There are no mistakes.
Tony Robbins says life is aguided journey of lessons, and I
firmly believe that.
So maybe, just maybe, I want toinvite you to consider the idea
(12:54):
that you tuned into thisepisode because you should, in
fact, be starting a podcast.
So if that's the case, hollerat your boy, slide into my DM,
send me a message over onFacebook, instagram, linkedin,
comment below on YouTube on thisvideo.
Wherever you hang out and let'schat about what's possible you
(13:17):
hear me say this often and I'llout and let's chat about what's
possible.
You hear me say this often andI'll continue to say it until
the day I die.
And that is who's missing out.
Because you're not showing upand a podcast could very well be
the area that you're notshowing up and because of that,
someone is missing out, and tome that's a problem.
(13:38):
So what can you do to changethat?
Massive action solves a lot oflife's problems.
Taking massive action on doingthe things that we know we
should be doing often solve thebiggest challenges and problems.
Air quotes, problems that wehave in life and or in business.
(14:02):
So that's all I got for youtoday for today's episode.
I like to keep these episodesshort and sweet, well under 15
minutes.
Sometimes I don't do that.
I go well over that, I go on alittle bit of a rant, but today
we're going to keep it nice, short and sweet.
I want to clarify if you'veever asked yourself should I
start a podcast?
(14:22):
Yes, you should.
If you're a business owner,it's a no-brainer.
You're still unsure?
Take my quiz, find out, book acall with us, let's chat about
what's possible.
But for the love of all things, podcasting, give this a fair
shot, because it's shown up onyour radar.
(14:42):
Okay, stop with the nonsense.
I'm gonna start in Q2, at theend of Q3, when money ain't
funny, when cows, cows no longermoo, the sun doesn't shine,
blah, blah, blah.
Just stop your ridiculous BSstory.
As my coach and the verybrilliant.
(15:05):
Dan Martell says you're justlying to yourself, so knock it
off.
Hope this episode encouragesyou.
