is Fhiles. I cant get itmy energy up camera, I gotta get
my What do you need? Youneed some caffeine. I'm gonna yell at
you. I already had some freakingcoffee. Man. I don't want to
be like addicted, even though Ifeel like I kind of already am.
Yeah, You're like, I'm likeI like a cup of coffee in the
(01:12):
morning. You are like I needit. Oh yeah, I wake up.
First thing I do, no water, just straight quad quad shot espresso
to the face. I'm actually thinkingabout grabbing an energy drink right now because
I'm like, yeah, yeah, yeah, just no get it afterwards.
I love if there's still something I'mon this kind of like no added sugar
(01:34):
kick for the time being. It'sreally good. But every once in a
while, man, it's these thestrawberry flavor sugar free monsters. Oh there's
a strawberry What it is? Man? Yeah? They got well yeah,
but they got artificial sweeteners. Man. You hear stuff about like it still
causes and it's on a response andit's still not good for it. It's
got a bunch of preservatives in it. Anyway, Yeah, I sure could.
(01:59):
I sure like a strawberry sugar freemonster. Oh my god, look
at you. I like the peachones thouch are my favorite peach peach,
the peach flavor, the peach artificialflavor has grown on me since I was
a kid. I used to notlike peach flavorite things. Now it's like,
oh pretty good. Yeah, yeah, I mean too. Peach ring
has grown up. Are always oneof my favorite, but they go bad
(02:21):
real fast. But you know, good segues transition. You know, it
doesn't go bad ever. A satisfyingdeath, especially with a villain or a
character in a movie, TV show, or video game that just as the
joke as a you know, oneof my favorite lines in one of the
movies Comes for Us, Comes toUs from the Joker when he looks at
Robert de Niro and says, youget what you freaking deserved. It's true.
(02:46):
So what makes let's talk about thefolks. This is a part two
to an episode. If you wantto go back to season two, episode
twenty, it's the kill Shot episode. These are satisfying deaths, and today
we're gonna be talking about some ofthe very most satisfying, you know,
villain deaths. I guess you couldsay in this one, Cameron, what
makes the death of a villain sosatisfying? Oh Man, Well, to
(03:09):
me, death is a satisfying thing. But that's a weird that's just for
me personally. But I think youknow, what builds up to an extremely
satisfying death is just, first ofall, the person that is a person
that is committing acts of atrocity thatseemingly get no repercussions of the sort,
(03:34):
right, So, like you know, as a kid, when you're like
you're with your buddy and you're bothdoing the wrong thing and you get in
trouble, but your buddy gets away, and then in the back of your
you're like that motherfucker, you know, and I secretly want to see something
bad happen to them, because likethey're getting away with it and it seems
untouchable. And I think we allcan relate to that. But you know,
(03:54):
when you see a villain on TVthat or a villain in pop culture
that's continuous sleep just getting away withthe most diabolical shit and not getting their
comuffins, Dude, when it finallycomes, it's a sweet flavor. Yeah.
(04:14):
Yeah. I think it appeals toour our sense of justice, is
what I hear when you're talking aboutthat kind of stuff, Because we all
have this sense and we don't seeit in every everyday life, but we
all know that like justice should bedone, the guilty should be punished,
the bad guys need to get theircomeuppance. You know. We want good
people to be rewarded and we wantbad people to be punished, and that
doesn't always happen that way. Butin movies, when it's good, man,
(04:39):
it's really good. And usually it'sso good, like you say,
after a string of like victories bythe bad guy, you know, like
just honorable mention, real quick, the Patriot me Gibson, right, Isaac
Clark's character Isaac Clark, No,Jason Isaac sorry, the actor he you
know, you think that his son, Heath Ledger's gonna get him halfway through
the movie, and then he turnsit around. Jason guy gets stabbed Heath
(05:01):
Ledger. So this dude has takeneverything from mel Gibson. So by the
end, when mel Gibson seems tohave been hurt and he sees his troops,
you know, the flag, theAmerican flag flying over him, and
he Jason Isaac's comes up behind him, and you think he's done for But
man, mel Gibson turns it aroundand you're just like, yes, yes,
you're just so so satisfying. Yeah, man, real quick, one
(05:25):
hundred percent agree with you. Firstof all, I just want to respond.
But you you say, come uppets, Is that how it come up?
And it's a bit of an oldYeah, it's uh, I say,
muffins come like muffins. Is thathow it is? What's come uppet?
Come buppets? No cut? Youknow what come up ins is a
(05:48):
single word. It's a noun informalthe punishment or fate that someone deserves.
Come up ants ceo m ants theA N, A N C one word,
come uppin. I've been using thatword incorrectly my entire life. I
always thought it was comuffins, muffins. You somebody can And I think if
(06:10):
you listen to this recording, whenI say get their comuffins, I say
the same thing, and then you'relike, come up dance, Like what
okay? Anyways, that's good.I'm glad that we took this little sidebar
down to absolutely well. I thinkthat's part of your charm. Though cameraon
sometimes you mispronounced words or you usethem not in their correct context. But
I think that's part of why welike you. Thanks man. There's this
(06:31):
one guy on Instagram that I absolutelydespise, uh and he is like one
of those food content creators where he'sjust like, you know, you're gonna
put your air for four hundred degrees, you're gonna add this, this,
this. But I don't know ifit's like his gag or his uh or
he's doing it on purpose, buthe specifically, I don't. He just
(06:54):
mispronounces like types of foods, notjust like a little bit, but like
a lot of it. And it'sto the point where you're like, there's
no way, Like it's very annoying, Like what what he said, Uh,
the word proshutto, like prosuto theItalian thin slice salted deli meat,
(07:15):
Right, it's obviously pronounced proshutto. But he I forgot the video where he's
like, you're gonna add cheese andthen a little prosciatatio and then and you're
just like, dude, you're outhere claiming to be like this chef,
but you're straight up mispronouncing like thesebasic ingredients. He said, you know
(07:39):
the suzikie sauce, the Greek, you know, cucumber white suzeki. He
pronounced it as tazzizi k And Iwas like, what I thought you were
talking about, like some slight mispronunciations. Oh no, no, no,
it's like it is no, itis bad. And literally it's like you
(07:59):
know that skit with He and Peelwhen it's like the substitute teacher from the
Hood and the guys yeah, andhe's like, hey, a Ron,
Yeah to Mothy, it's like thatlevel of mispronunciation. But again, this
has nothing to do with the podcast, so we're gonna go back into it.
But I just had to get thatoff my chest. I forgot his
Instagram handle, so everybody can goand block him and try to get his
account taken off, but get himcanceled for mis pronounci yeah, get him
(08:24):
canceled. But we have a wehave a pretty solid list for you guys
can like, as he said, continuing part two of the kill shot,
and I think if you want tostart it off, is he with one
of your picks here? Let's let'shit the ground running, buddy. We
were talking about this one just beforewe started actually, as we were getting
the list together and finalizing it.But Denzel Washington's character Alonso from Training Day,
(08:50):
Uh, Trained Day movie with DenzelWashington and then what is it?
Ethan Hawk? Yeah, yeah, for those who don't know, really really
good. I think he actually hewon. I think he won Best Actor
Academy Award for his performance in thisone. So he's won Best Supporting for
Glory and then Best Actor for thisone. And you get to at first,
(09:11):
you think that maybe he's kind ofa maverick, you know, he
plays a little bit outside the role. By the end of the movie,
you realize that he's completely corrupt andthere's no redeeming qualities. He's not even
like like there's even like a shootout. Like finally, Ethan Hawk, he
tries to get Ethan Hawk killed. He sets him up, He spent the
whole day setting him up to takethe fall, and then he's gonna get
(09:33):
him killed by these Mexican gangsters.Ethan Hawk escapes. He confronts him at
his home, Denzel's home, andDenzel's got a little kid, and like,
the little kid is in the midstof this gunfight there happening, and
Hawk cares more about the kid thanDenzel. He it's like, don't hurt
my boy. Don't you hurt myboy. That's my boy there. And
then he uses his vulnerability and hiscare for the little kid to try to
(09:56):
get a shot off on him.So Denzel's is completely a complete dirt bag
and a dirty cop, you know, dirty cop. All his boys are
dirty too, right, They're alllike part of this lapd you know,
unit, and they're all like income up ince with each other and uh
yeah, they're all in on it. And you know, you have this
moral cop that comes in and he'syou know, obviously trying to elevate his
(10:20):
career, and he's like, dude, this is we can't be doing this,
Like we're here to uphold the lotand not break it and take advantage
of him just because of our position. And they're all like, na,
man, we're trying to get rich. So yeah, the the scenes leading
up to his death because at firstyou think he's gonna get away with it
because he leaves him with the Bloods, right, That's that's one of my
favorite parts, Like all the gangsterssitting outside and he's running and all the
(10:43):
Bloods like stop him and end uptaking Ethan Hunt's side, and you're like,
oh yeah, dude, yea.Even you know, talking about another
movie that has to do with gangsis like the uh the one with Shilah
buff the not the Enforcer but theuh delivery Man or something like that or
deliver Y Man, the ice CreamMen. There's something, yeah, you
(11:05):
talk about where he plays a gangster, right, yeah, he plays a
gangster. His name is Creeper. What is it? Yeah? I literally
just watched it the other day.David Air. Yeah, it's David Air.
It's a it's a yeah. It'ssomething about like the like the Apprentice
or the delivery Man or something likethat tax Collector, I'm sorry, tax
Collector. Something in the Tax Collector. There's like, you know these moves,
(11:28):
Like gangs are terrible, right, they do a lot of bad stuff,
but in this movie, you watchTax Collector and it makes you want
to join a gang because you're like, these dudes have like a rule book,
right, they have a level ofrespect for each other, regard like
the other gangs. Yeah, there'slike a code, you know, there's
like a code, and the gangstersin Training Day like have that code too,
(11:48):
and they live by the code andthey like it's like real recognize real,
Like even though we're on the otherside, like if you're handling your
business, so were we like we'regonna ride with you, boy, And
I was like, dude, wheredo I sign up? You guys need
a shooter, like come on,yeah, it's true, man. Yeah.
It's what's great about this death isthat the Denzel dies twice because,
like you said, in the Neighborhood, after he's confronted by Ethan Hawk.
(12:11):
Ethan Hawk gets let go. They'relike, no, we're good man.
You get out of here. Youknow, we'll see you around. And
then Donzel talks a big game andhe's like, I own this neighborhood and
stuff, and he's got this greatspeech. He's like King Kong doesn't have
nothing on me, and everyone's justlike full of it. Man. They
just walk away through their backs onthem, you know, and then you
(12:31):
you kind of forget because you realize, oh, it's it's revealed that Denzel
he's on the hook for beating upthis rushing gangster and he's get the get
the payment going. Well, thatall goes by the wayside. So he's
trying to get out of town. He's got the money with him and the
scene, you know, he's thereand he stopped and he's like this lady
(12:52):
kind of an suv comes up nextto him. He's thinking, oh,
this is it. She just kindof doesn't make up. Yes she does.
She drives off. Yeah, littleyou know, that's the signal because
they stop in the middle of theintersection. They just blast him and then
yeah they ca yeah, yeah, they shoot his car and he kind of
ducks and then he kind of crawlsout and he's like shot up, but
he's still alive. And then theyjust blast him. They just like he's
(13:16):
like forty bullets. You know,he's like, oh, you know,
it's a bloody mess. So moralof the story, don't be piece of
ship. Second moral of the story, don't make deals with the Russian with
the Russian mob that you can't thatyou can't uphold. Yeah, you will
end up you will end up dead, d ed mess. Yeah, in
(13:37):
the middle of an intersection by theLax Airport. Yeah, right there.
You know, training day Alonzo's deathwas was extremely satisfying, just because you
know, he's such a bad guyand you're like, man, I really
hope that this guy gets what's comingand not just on the cut, not
just being a dirty cop, butyou know, this shootout with his kid,
using his vulnerabilities, like you said, it's it's just not a nice
(14:01):
guy gets what's coming to him.But another guy that I think that he
has a pretty satisfying death. Andit like this entire movie is a setup
to uh, you know, gettingrevenge on this character. And it's Punisher
from two thousand and four, notthe first one, but uh, you
(14:24):
know you have Travolta who plays HowardSaint, and then you have the Punisher.
Who's the actor that plays this punisher. What's his name, Thomas Jane,
Yeah, Thomas Jame, who playsFrank Castle. Obviously, in the
beginning of the movie, those ofyou have seen it, you know that,
uh, Frank Castle is responsible forputting whose son or killing Howard Saint's
(14:50):
son, right, or putting himin jail. This one I don't quite
remember as well too much, butyou know, Howard Saint then ultimately becomes
responsible for killing Frank Castle's family becauseI think in this one he's Frank Castle
is like an undercover cop something.Yeah, that's get about it. He
gets found out and then his familygets killed. That's kind of the classic
(15:11):
now I remember, yeah, soI remember now. So basically, Howard
Saint's son was involved in the stingthat Frank Frank Castle was undercover for,
and then during that sting, FrankCastle ended up getting the son killed during
the bad deal. So then HowardSaint, obviously I hired some cops to
(15:33):
figure out who is part of thesting, and that's how they got Frank
Castle's name, and then Howard Saintssent you know, all his boys to
a vacation home in uh, youknow what is it Florida or the Caribbean
or something, and kills kills FrankCastle's entire family. And I think in
the comics it's like his the sonand the d and his wife get killed,
(15:56):
but in this version, like hisentire family, his father or his
mother. Yeah, it's like afamily reunion that the father puts on that
you know, he's been so dedicatedto his police work and you know,
he's a former Special Forces guy orsome sort of Special operation soldier and then
he's been working under cover for allthis time and he's finally done and out
and he's retired and he finally getsto spend time with his family and like
(16:18):
build that, and right as thathappens, they're stripped away from him.
Frank Castle is you know what, they believe to be dead, but just
the spirit of revenge, you know, causes him to stay alive and just
become an alcoholic and lift a lotof weights and just be hungry for revenge.
So you know, the entire theentire movie is just a setup for
(16:41):
Howard Saints' death. And not onlyis it enough to just kill him,
but like he causes Howard Saint tokill his own wife out of you know,
uh, you know uh, becausehe fools him, He makes he
makes him think that he's having abear or something like that. Yeah,
yeah, because Howard's saying is itextreme. Like one of the things he
(17:02):
finds out is he's extremely like heloves his wife more than anything, but
he's extremely possessive of her and he'sextremely jealous man. So he basically convinces
Howard that his like right hand man, who turns out to be homosexual that
you find out is his right handman is secretly having an affair with his
wife. So he goes and heconfronts his right hand man, ended up
(17:26):
killing him because he's like, dude, I don't know what you're talking about,
and he's like your and kills himin his own home. And then
he goes to his wife and throwsher off of a bridge because he's like,
you're desloyal. So not only doeshe lose his son, he loses
his best friend, he kills hiswife, and then in the end,
you know, they have this giantshootout and he attaches Howard sat to the
(17:48):
back of a car and he justsets the car and basically it's a great
scene where he's just getting drug throughthis parking lot and all these cars are
exploding around him. And finally, which is obviously it's super fake, like
you could see, like it's definitelya mannequin that's just set on fire.
But yeah, it's super satisfying. You're like, man, this you know
if if somebody killed your entire familyand you managed to survive, like,
(18:14):
would just killing him be enough? You know, like like what would you
go like what like what would youdo? What would you go to the
ends of earth of the earth to, you know, to get your revenge?
And is that enough? Right?Yeah, it's true. Man.
The satisfying thing about this one isis that, like you say, he
doesn't just kill the person, hedismantles his entire family. He fools him
(18:38):
into thinking all these other things, into killing his own people that he trusted.
So it's almost like a family forfamily kind of thing, you know.
Uh, yeah, it's funny.I don't remember liking I don't remember
liking this version too too much ofthe Punisher because the Punisher has been done
quite a few times actually, Butuh, I like the way you lay
(19:00):
it out, man, because youknow, there are worse things. There
are worse, way worse things tohappen to a person than to just be
killed, you know. But soit's another thing of like John Travolta realizing
before his character dies that it washow it was him, It was it
was Frank Castle who did it,who fooled him into thinking that his wife
was disloyal and his buddy, youknow, his friend was disloyal. And
(19:22):
uh there's a fair amount of likeshooting and stuff like that, which is
what we know the punisher for.But he really does punish him. He
really does, like yea, hiswhole life. You know. It's like
he could have just killed his wife, but that you know what's worse,
having your wife killed or being fooledto kill your wife with your own hands,
You be right, you know whatwould be way worse. So yeah,
that's I like that theme. It'slike, okay, well, the
(19:45):
whole theme is of the punisher istoo, like you said, to punish
the people that need to be tobe so, and like, what's the
worst punishment you can think of besidesjust death? Because death is easy.
You know, Yeah, it's justlights out, but U if you can
make someone feel beforehand, it's like, okay, whoo punish Yep, let's
(20:07):
talk about this man because there's therewe've we're kind of talking about different ways
to punish, different ways to getto stick it to the guy. There's
a bad guy before they actually findtheir ultimate demise. But this one is
really just like it's like slamming somebodyinto the pavement a dozen times before you
crush their head on air Cyrus theVirus John Malkovich's character because at the end
(20:32):
the ending fight scene, they're ona you know, they're on a fire
chase. They're on a fire truck. Yeah, Nick Cage and Cyrus you
know are fighting Cameron our range camera. That's right, but it was really
money on that one man. Uh. My fiance she's like doing her medical
(20:52):
school rotations right now and like she'sthat means she works with like a doctors
from different specialties and she was liketalking this is one doctor uh from I
forgot what specialty was, but she'slike was talking about me and she's like,
oh, you're Mary or you're you'reengaged. She's like yeah, He's
like what's your fiance's name. Tellme a little bit about him. She's
like, well, his name's Cameron. Uh. He used to be an
(21:14):
army ranger. And he like stoppedher. He's like, are you fucking
me? She's like, are youexplaining the plot of con Air right now?
And she's like what, And she'slike, you know what conn Air
is about. It's like an armyranger named Cameron Poe and like he gets
arrested and stuff. And I wasjust like, well, I've done all
those things, so I guess thatmovie is just based off me. Ah.
(21:37):
That's awesome. Man, oh man, I love this one because it's
classic, you know, Uh it'sis it Michael Bay and uh and uh
what's his name? Michael Bain? Not John Frankenheimer, but Jerry Bruckheimer.
Jerry Bruckheimer, Michael Bay. Classic, you know, action, just over
(22:00):
the top action, cheesy kind ofone liners, but bad guys that are
really bad. Like he's on it'scon Air. He is on this flight
with just the worst of the worst, and so it's just great. It's
great that the deaths are satisfying becauseyou know that all of these people are
deserve just the worst and just theworst and they prove it every moment,
(22:25):
you know, until the very end. And so John Malgravich's death is amazing
because he he attaches him to theladder of the fire the fire truck,
fire truck. He raises him upand they're in like was it like Vegas
Arena or they're in like Vegas Areno, yeah, yeah, and so and
(22:45):
then so the first thing, hegets smashed through this like overpass, this
walkway overpass, right, yeah, you know, especially class and debris and
you get crushed. Yeah, butnot only that, but then he uh,
he gets he falls off of itthrough electrical wires. Yeah, he's
(23:06):
getting electrocuted. Yeah yeah. Andthen he gets onto a conveniently placed construction
site conveyor belt that has a likea pounding like rock pulveriser at the end
of it keeps drawing down hydraulic press. Yeah. And so he goes through
that, and then he's on theconveyor belt and then finally he gets right
in there and it's the classic likerising up and you see the camera kind
(23:29):
of zooming down in his face andhe just gets his head crush. It's
like death after death after death, like he's just rubbing it in, you
know, uh, which is appropriatefor the character. But I just love
it's just so ridiculous, you know, the level of like like that he
would have been dead after the firstone. But you just gotta get all
that stuff in there. You canjust see Michael Bay and Jerry Brockhamer and
(23:51):
be like, oh man, wouldit be cool? Okay, he's like
through the thing. No, no, we gotta go to elect you.
No, no, we gotta smashit. Let's do all three, Let's
just do everything, you know.Yeah, wait, Michael Bay directed this
movie. No, no, Ilet's see No Simon West, I'm sorry,
I always associate Jerry Bruckheimer with Michaelbas So. Simon West was a
guy who who directed it, andI think it was like produced by wat
(24:18):
Yeah. Yeah, he's one ofthe bad dudes, right. Yeah.
Dave Chappelle is there. But it'sfunny because you have like a Cameron Poe's
character, which you know he's gettingout of prison, like this is his
ride home and not too much.Yeah, Ice Cage does the worst Southern
accent. Who I told him toput down the bunny. Yeah, totally
put down the bunny. My bunnyand he's like, how's my bay would
(24:42):
doing. It's such a bad accent, But I think that's what adds to
the like why this movie is sogood. Yeah, but yeah, you
just have crazy k Steve Buscemi playsa serial killer. You know, you
have Dave Chappelle who's just just abad guy. And then you know John
malt Kovic, Manica ported, DannyTrejo's in here and he's got yeah yeah,
(25:07):
yeah, super grease ball just looklooking after an easy, easy lay.
And you know, it's just it'sa bunch of characters that when people
are like that, you know,I think we talked about John Wick in
the last episode of The Kill Shot, and it's just like, well,
all those deaths are so satisfying becauseyou know those people deserve it, you
know, so uh yeah and uhand Danny Tree, all those deaths are
(25:30):
just like oh yeah, yep, yep. What's always weird, what's always
fascinating that the weird moment in thatmovie is, uh, you got freaking
Steve Bussemi, right, and he'slike this serial killer or something like that,
Like he's he's like the Hannibal LecterKind's like Dan done up. Yeah,
yeah, the Marietta Mangler. Andyou see you think they've set him
(25:52):
up to be like this total likeuh like monster and you and and then
he is there like the little kidwhen they and make the pit stop and
he gets off and he's playing withthe little kid. And then you see
him walk back with the doll. You think, oh my god, he
killed the kid. But then lateron when they take off, you see
the kids like still there. Soit's like he totally is not He totally
(26:12):
ends up not being he's just aweirdo. Yeah, yeah, you know
he's not like I mean, heis, you know, yeah, a
merciless killer, but like I feellike inside he's at a listent, like
he's mentally ill. Probably so hejust I don't know, but it's like,
how would you think, uh,he's just a weirdo. Like the
(26:32):
documentary about uh dahmer on that wason Netflix. That was like huge for
a while. Remember did you everknow that? It was? I never
watched that Now I missed all thatdomber stuff. Yeah. That and then
a miniseries where it was like aregular like drawing. Yeah, they were
really ubstansive with serial killers for likea for like a hot minute there.
But like the series, like yourealize he's just a weirdo. Like he's
(26:53):
just he's not like a savage.I mean he is a savage, like
and what he did to those people, but like at the end of the
day, he's just until the illweird. Oh. So yeah, that's
why I don't trust weirdos. Man, if you're a weirdo, stay away
from me. Have you heard that'sthat? My wife mentioned this one time.
She's like, you know, yourealize, like, uh, the
greatest generation comes home or you know, there's a lot of like there's a
(27:15):
lot of like single mothers growing upin like like raising sons in the forties
and fifties, and then there's likethis explosion of serial killers in the sixties
and seventies. It's like single motherhood, No father's in the house. Man,
your kids are gonna go up tobe serial killers. Absolutely, dude.
We need some direction, need somedirection there, need some man,
(27:37):
need some testosterone in the house. That's right. Another one here, Oh,
this is a good one. Sowe didn't mention this one, but
if you google satisfying deaths, it'son like every single list. But in
the movie The Mist there is acrazy lady. She's a little a bit
(27:57):
of an extremist when it comes toher religion, right, and she's not
a good characterization of any kind ofChristian religion that I know of. She's
just a horrible person. It's justa horrible person. And like I feel
like she piggy, she like usesreligion and convinces all these people, you
know, to do what she wantsto do. Uh, because you know
(28:18):
she's able to do so because she'ssaying like, oh no, a higher
power like wants this. Yeah.So like not, as you said,
not a good representation of like theChristian community right there. I'm very confident
that like if the myst would happenIsrael, you would not be like her,
you know, wouldn't start my ownlittle cult when people start to lose
(28:38):
their minds. Yeah, you know, it's funny because it's it's funny in
the movie itself. It's a it'swell done film because at first it starts
off like people trying to work togetherand they're kind of they're kind of believing
in each other. I think themovie itself is more like a it's like
commentary on how we break down andturn on each other in crisis situations.
But she, you know, shestarts gaining kind of followers, like one
(29:02):
person here, one person there, and she starts manipulating people and kind of
imposing her will on them, andpretty soon the good guys, you know,
the kind of rational people are theones that are being mobbed against,
you know, and like more andmore, this kind of mob mentality takes
over. Yeah, and she's kindof at the leader and so until she
(29:22):
just totally becomes unhinged. So it'sa good build up because you know,
I think in the movie even youknow, from the very beginning, like
this lady like I can't believe anybodywould like her or interact with her.
And then by the end you're like, oh my god, she's leading everybody,
like everyone yeah, following her.So that leads up to her death
being like way more satisfying. You'relike, finally somebody died. Let me
(29:47):
bring your spirits up a little bit, because there's some really satisfying stuff from
Leon the professional. This is oldschool, this is like nineties. This
is a Natalie Portman's first like majorrole, but kind of a weird movie,
especially if you watch the extended versionand like they kind of nowadays developed
the love story. Nowadays, maybeit's not so bad. Maybe we've come
(30:10):
back, we've come full circle inour society to where it's like, no,
that's a totally acceptable relationship. Butyou know, he's the hit man
and he's kind of just kind ofa loner, really not even that educated,
but he's good at what he does. And Natalie Portman and him,
you know, he ends up takingcare of her. And then there's the
corrupt cop, Gary Oldman, who'sjust good at everything that he does.
(30:30):
And there's that last scene where hefinally saves Matilda. He gets her out
of there, she crawls down andkind of gets away, and yeah,
and you think he's going to getaway. He kind of disguises himself and
the chaos as a swat guy witha mask on, and then he kind
of takes a different route out,but Gary Olden recognizes him. And there's
that scene where he's he takes hismask off and he's walking towards the street
(30:53):
like he's gonna get away, andthen Gary Oldman shows up behind him and
like shoots him in the neck orsomething like that, you know, and
so he falls down and you know, Gary Oldman. The reason this is
satisfying is is Gary Oldman is theworst kind of like scummy corrupt cop.
You think he's just like another drugdealer, gangster dude. Yeah, because
(31:15):
he's always hopped up on something. He's literally just like what we started out
on this show on is Alonzo fromtraining Day. He's like a piece of
shit. Oh yeah, yeah,I didn't. I didn't realize that,
always on something. And he killsNatalie Portman's entire family, you know,
because her dad is corrupt and he'sbeen holding on to drugs. But then
(31:37):
he takes some of the drugs forhimself, and then Gary Oldman and his
squad come in and they cover allup because they're cops, and so they
call it just a you know, interrogation gone wrong or whatever. But even
her little brother gets killed. He'slike four years old or whatever, and
she's like twelve in that movie. But yeah, man and he and she
even tries to she doesn't know whatshe's doing. She wants to go and
(32:00):
kill him. She goes gets intothe police station, right, and then
he comes in and he even hasthat one line when he's he they capture
her and she can't go through withit because she's too afraid. Uh.
And he's like, uh, He'slike, do you want to live or
something like that. She's like youknow, and he's and she's like yeah,
(32:21):
and he's like he's like, that'sgood. I take no pleasure in
taking life who people from people whodon't value their own lives. It's like,
wait, so you do. It'slike it gets sort of perverse pleasure
from killing people who actually want tolive. And he's just a he's just
a freaking a weirdo, so hekills Yeah, he is. He's a
bit of a weirdo. Plus youyou said it's uh, you said it
(32:43):
could be the relationship could be interpreteddifferent ways. I remember we were on
our way, we had a longdrive, and you're like, recommended this
movie to me and I never heardit. And when we got back to
our home, I watched it andI was like, sent you a text.
I'm like, man, fuck youthat movie. It was weirder than
shit. You're like it's a You'relike, it's a beautiful relationship. And
(33:04):
I'm sitting over here like this guy'sa pedophile. He likes I love.
I don't know, it's a Frenchthing. It might be a French thing,
but like he like Roman like little. Yeah, he doesn't do anything,
but you don't need lies about Likeshe she's like a teenage girl,
so she's all, dude, she'slike thirteen. She's like, yeah,
(33:25):
isn't like you know, when's yourbirthday? When you turn eighteen? She's
like in two weeks. It's notlike one of those. It's like she's
thirteen. Yeah, And he's likeshe's beautiful, and you're like, it's
if you watch that movie nowadays, you'd be like, I do kiss on
your mouth? They do kiss onthe mouth. Yeah, it's super weird.
It's should you imagine Natalie Portman's likeGuardian when they're like going over the
(33:47):
script and she's like she has tokiss who on the mouth? A full
grown man and they're like no,no, no, no, he's European
and she's like, oh, it'soh, that's fine. It's her parents
were like super off on art atthe time. They're like, anyways,
man, yeah, no, that'sa great death. Rolling over the frag
grenade and just blunting them up.Well, the best part is it was
(34:10):
like he put he rolls them overand he he grabs his hand, He
grabs the CoP's hand and he says, this is from Matilda, and you
don't see what it is. Andthen he opens his hand and it's the
pin of a grenade in his hand. And then he opens up Jamerno's vest
and it's all these grenades. He'slike, oh, damn it and then
damn that's it. Boom exea.So yeah, so weird movie. Maybe
(34:34):
I gotta go to therapy. Uhyeah, very satisfying, very satisfying death
indeed for both of them. Twobirds with one stone, Yeah, two
weirds with one stone a real quick. He could never he could never have
her because that would be wrong. So he has to die exactly. So
that's the only proper exit for Petosis death. So but I know,
(35:00):
I wanted to do one honorable mentionjust because we're getting pretty uh up there
on time. But The Boys hassome iconic depths because in the entire series,
like, I honestly I love thisand I love this series just because
it is such a spinoff of likewhat Marvel and DC created. Everybody thinks
like superheroes are you know, morallystraight and like, you know, but
(35:23):
in reality, people are people. You know, what if people today just
had superabilities, you know, andthey didn't have a choice because we find
out that like the parents are theones that made most of the soups,
and then Homeland are creating in thelab like people, they're not ingrained to
be morally straight superheroes. So it'sjust like, what if someone had all
these this power and they were untouchable, just like the elites of this country
(35:45):
or the rich people like you hearabout them doing you know, absolutely crazy
things because they don't think that theycan get away with it because they have
a bunch of money. So like, what would happen to somebody that could
get away with anything because they couldnot be stopped and nobody would have ever
be able to do anything about them. I mean, imagine the Epstein Island
that would exist if superheroes they're superheroes. Yeah, oh yeah, no,
(36:08):
nobody would be totally open about itand nobody could do anything about it.
Like, yeah, I got anisland, what are you gonna I got
an island? You know? Yeah, I have sex with children, Like
what are you gonna do? Andprobably nothing because I don't want to die?
Yeah, you can't control those people, but yeah, there's some really
gratifying deaths. Like I mean, the series opens up with just a crazy
(36:28):
death of you know, you havethe main protagonist his girlfriend. They're sitting
on the street. They're sharing abeautiful moment talking about the future, and
you know, you if you've neverseen it, I don't want to ruin
it for you, but I'm goingto because this is the PCFM podcast and
we do spoilers here, but likethey're having a beautiful moment. It's like,
you know, mush yep, justmush, I don't know she's in
(36:53):
a moment. Just don't even seeit coming. It's mid conversation as I'm
speaking to you right now, ifI just up and it's it's shocking.
And then it do you find outthat one of the superheroes ends up who
has super speed, like the flashjust runs right through her by accident because
he's hopped up on drugs. Andthat's how the show starts. So you
(37:15):
know, the entire first season iskind of dedicated to figuring out how to
kill these people and how to makethem pay, how to like punish them.
And there's one superhero named Translucent andhis superpower is invisibility. And he
you know, what would you doif no one could ever see you and
you were a male, you'd probablyAnd he's got invulnerable skin when he is.
(37:40):
Yeah, all superheroes have diamond likecoated skin, like they can't be
shot like they do not you know, he's he's impenetrable. He's literally uh
you know, he is immortal ina way. So you know what would
you do if you do, they'dprobably sneak in the girl's locker room and
be a huge pair of and creep. And that's exactly who this guy I
was. So when they finally figfigure out how to kill him, and
(38:02):
it is a satisfying death because theypack his butthole with a bunch of C
four and blow them sky high fromthe inside out. So that death is
super satisfying because first you get ridof a scumbag and secondly, you realize
that these guys are now touchable,uh, and they're gonna get what's coming
to them. So that's just honorablemention that you know became was way longer
(38:24):
than I thought it was gonna go. But yeah, the boys, the
boys, I'll do two honorable mentions. We didn't really touch on video games
much this time. But last ofUs, part one, when Ellie kills
I think his name is David, the cult leader, the cannibal. Yeah,
it very satisfying because the dude's sucha creeper. I know. They
(38:45):
recreated such a creep. Yeah, they recreated in the show, and arguably
it's a little more brutal because theylet the shot go for longer. But
like, he tries to seduce her, and then he tries, you know,
and then he tries to rape her, he tries to eat her,
you know. And then in theBurning Lodge, she finally gets him and
she hacks his head away to nothingness, like time and time again with the
(39:09):
hatchet or the machete or whatever. And it's just like this, they do
a good job of it in theshow. It's like this release of like
she's been so tense and she's he'ssuch a creeper that she starts like yelling
out and crying even a little bitbecause she's just so traumatized by what happened
and what she's like forced to do, you know, to survive. And
(39:29):
so that's a great one. Andthen of course everybody's favorite bad guy,
Michael Bell from Red Dead Redemption two, like you just you want him to
die from the first moment you seehim and you just know he's bad.
You see him influencing the gang ofthe leader of the gang I forget his
name right now, but you know, and then at the very end after
(39:51):
in the prologue, I guess,John Marston, you finally take him out
in the quick time event and youcan just I didn't know, Like I
shot him like ten times in theface when I did it, and then
there's the animation where he's kind oflike has this kind of like bewildered look
on his face and he kind ofwalks a little bit and then falls.
I'm like that, I like Icould see the blood like in his face
(40:13):
because I shot him like all it, and like like that doesn't really work
for me, but I appreciate theand the death animation because like maybe if
I would have shot him in thegut, it would have been made a
little more sense. I'm like, that was like seventeen shots right right in
your face. Well that sounds likeyou went overkilled there, but for good
reason. Yes, all right,Well, so that that is it for
(40:37):
the main body folks. We gota fan question in a game if you
want to hang out with us fora little bit longer. This one is
from Johnny G. Cameron. Youwant to take this one? Sure,
Johnny? What's going on? Man? Always a pleasure to hear from you
and he wants to know. Okay, So watching military pop culture, you
know, as everyone does. Inoticed the operators always have on mechanics gloves.
(40:57):
How accurate is this and why wouldthey choose to go with them?
Personally, I don't ever use Idon't even use them, And because Johnny
is a mechanic back in Canada,I find that gloves can limit my dexterity
too much, so I'll just usea plane cotton glove or like a nitrout
glove when working with fluids. Sothis is like back in your day,
man, the mechanic's gloves were likeall the rage. They were they were
(41:21):
all the rage. And I thinkit was something that where it was just
good, relatively good manual DEXTERI likelow profile, like thin, thin enough
material that you had got pretty goodmanual dexterity. I had Oakley gloves with
the knuckle, the knuckle protection rightthere, the kind of a little knuckle
mold there which I loved because man, you're going around mood, I hit
my hands and you pinch your handsand you get it caught in little crevices
(41:44):
and nooks and crannies when you're inyour am wrap or your humpy, your
load, enamel cans, your loadand equipment. I use those things all
the time. But yeah, thatwas the thing, you know, I
think it depends on what you're doing. It sounds like Johnny's that he works
with fluids and stuff like that.I don't know that I would use it
in that case, but I didn't. I didn't ever. I'm trying to
think of my warm like actually onlike missions and stuff. I think I
(42:06):
did. I got pretty good.I got pretty used to them, you
know, and I trained with thema lot and stuff. But yeah,
that was just kind of my personalpreference. Yeah. No, they mechanics
kind of phased out in my erabecause we started like getting really really good
gloves. The whole glove thing islike we did an episode on gloves on
shift fire and like for military use, like it's a giver take cause,
(42:29):
yeah, you know, they're they'reconsidered part of your ppe, which is
you know, personal protective equipment. They're supposed to protect you, you know,
keep you from getting burns and booboosand getting your you know, knuckles
crushed. But they're hard to operate, like very it's hard to get find
dexterity out of them when you needto like do like say you're working on
a casualty or you need to dosomething you know that requires more dexterity.
(42:50):
The thicker the glove is, themore durable it is, the more it
protects you, the harder it isto do those things, so like you
have to you have to sacrifice.I know, when I first joined I
was using Mechanics Clubs because they madea really light pair that had was a
good happy medium between the ones theyissued me. But but then again they
also ripped super quickly. But Ithink mechanics are used so often just because
(43:15):
they're extremely cheap. You know, you can buy like three pairs of them
for under forty dollars. I thinkthey're like eighteen dollars each now, and
that's with inflation, so like youcan have multiple pairs. If they break,
you just replace them super cheap. They're everywhere, you know. You
can get them at AutoZone, youcan get them at Walmart. You don't
need to go to the tactical gearstore to get mechanics there. The accessibility
(43:37):
is there. Also, they makeneutral colors so they go with your camos.
So yeah, I think they're justit's easy access, they're cheap,
they do that, they work wellfor what they are, and yeah,
I think that's why a lot ofpeople in the military use them. It's
funny because I have a I justbought a pair of all black mechanics gloves
because I'm like recreating an old schoolkit. And yeah, they're like,
(43:57):
I was like, what gloves arewe gonna get? I was like,
oh, mechanics black, of course, but we help that answer to question
John, all right, the timeis upon us, Cameron. The time
is upon us will be fulfilled absolutely, And that prophecy is in the form
of a game. And I amthe game master here, and this game
is called Hey, who's killing who? Here, I'm gonna give you the
(44:22):
name of a character or a realperson, and you tell me who killed
them, who killed them? Andthen here's a note. Here's a note
for me. It says, onlygive the show, video game or movie
if I is he is struggling.Okay, okay, Chris has granted me
permission to give you hints. Thesemight actually be really tough. Okay,
(44:45):
I don't know. We have wehave a warm up here, so we'll
see. So, I mean thismight be so it's a mix between pop
culture figures and real historical figures, and you just tell me who killed them,
and if you're struggling hardcore, I'llgive you, uh, you know,
the movie of what it is ifyou can't recognize who it is.
So with the warm up, areyou ready? I'm ready, man,
(45:07):
Okay, so warm up? Whokilled Abraham Lincoln? Ah, that would
be John Wilkes Booth. He wasa male model played by John James Marsden
in the Zoolander movie. Yeah yeah, dude, what a random thought.
That's like second little bit in thatmovie. And you got yeah, yeah,
(45:30):
okay, No, you're absolutely correct, so you understand how the game
works. So we're just gonna goahead. Jump in feet for feet first
first person, Rufio Rufeo from Hook. All right, who killed Rufio?
You know what I wish? Myhappy thought would be, I wish I
(45:50):
had a dad just like you.Right before he dies, Rufio, he
gets killed. Looky lookye I gotHooky. He gets stabbed by Captain hook
And you're absolutely right with the You'reabsolutely right with the even quote there.
So awesome. You got that one. Good job. Moving right along.
(46:13):
Mike Erman Trout, Oh, Mike, Mike, Mike from uh from Breaking
Bad? Oh yeah, I actuallyrecently just finished Better Call Saul, and
he's really great in that one too. You get to know a little bit
more about him. But Mike AmeronTrout, former police cop, police cop
gets killed by Walter White in BreakingBad. He gets shot Walter White man
(46:37):
like think, I don't know whathe thought he was gonna do, pulling
out the gun. But Mike triesto to burn rubber and get out of
there, and he gets shot byWalter. It's sad man because he's sitting
on the rock. He gets awayand Walter comes up. He's like,
I didn't mean He's like, justshut up and let me die, and
then he just plops over dead. That's sort of he kills Mike because like,
(46:59):
yeah, Walter White's like afraid ofMike. Yeah yeah, and Walter
White's That's what's one of the geniusesof the show is how he is able
to overcome these foes. Who arestronger, smarter, more well connected than
he is. So yeah, yeah, no, great one, all right,
got that? And it's crazy.I don't know how you remember these
characters' names, because like, hisname's Mike. You know, many people
(47:22):
are named Mike in TV. Anyway, it's just like that, next,
Professor, X I mean gil ProfessorX I mean, I guess he doesn't
actually die because then he gets likemaybe like an amazing body that's exactly looks
exactly like his and he gets hisconsciousness transferred into it or something. But
(47:42):
anyway, in X men three Xmen, uh the Last Stand or something
like that or yeah, x MenLast Stand, he gets killed by Jean
Gray as the Dark Phoenix, likeher powers are becoming too powerful for her
and she's losing control, and hegets like turned into microbits by her.
(48:07):
Yeah and so and then but thenhe comes back and he's magically back later,
So okay, what happens? Doeshe die again? Ever? Does
he ever die again? Oh?Is that not the Uh, it's not
the answer. Chris has something differenthere. Oh okay, wait a second,
wait a second, professor, XI mean he gets shot by uh
(48:27):
an executioner song in the comic books, he gets shot by somebody. Uh
so, let's see does he dieelse any other places? What happens in
like the what was the last onethat came out Dark Phoenix? Was it?
No? That was with the YoungOnes? That was Oh Logan Logan?
(48:51):
Yes, I mean he gets killedby Weapon X because he thinks it's
Logan looks like Logan and he getsthe snicked right through the chest. He
gets the blades in the chest. He gets killed by Weapon X. Perfect.
Yeah X twenty four Wolverine's clone. There you go. Yeah, honestly
you told like, yeah, hedies multiple times like the Dark Phoenix.
(49:15):
Yeah, he gets eradicated into likenothing. Yeah, yeah, okay,
great, so we'll give that oneto you. Nice and moving on.
Lee Harvey Oswald? Oh man, what Lee Harvey Oswald? Yeah? Who
kills Lee Harvey Oswald? I mean, didn't he get executed or something like
(49:36):
that? I don't It's like oneof those conspiratorial kind of things. But
uh, yeah, doesn't he getexecuted because you know his shut he shoots
JFK. I don't know what happenedto him after that. Did he get
shot before he went to trial? But I don't know executed by the US
government. Oh he did. No, I'll just give it to y so
before so he was killed by JackRuby Jack Leon Ruby, who's an American
(50:01):
nightclub owner who murdered Lee Harvey Oswaldon November twenty fourth, nineteen sixty three,
two days after Oswald was accused ofthe assassination of Kennedy. Oh wow,
that's news to me. That's goodhistory. That's news to me too,
man, that's good history. Yeah. Yeah, I always thought it
was Kennedy's death was a CIA coverup. Yeah, but that's that's how
(50:22):
the conspiracy goes. Yeah. Yeah, all right, So don't worry.
We learned. We both learned onthat one. But moving right along,
we have Donald Donald Gennaro. Way, what Donald J. Gennaro, Donald
Gennaro, How do you is hedid he forget something? Really? Let
(50:45):
me see, I will google this. Gennaro sounds like, yeah, it's
okay, he forgot the d It'sDonald Gennaro, Donald Gennaro, Donald Gennaro.
Dude, that's subtle. That's theonly Gennaro I know about is I
just recently watched Diehard And that's BruceWillis's wife's maiden name that she uses.
(51:08):
Uh, but that's I think it'spronounced Gennaro. But it's from Jurassic He's
from Jurassic Park. Donald Gennaro,M gosh, I mean, okay,
just because the name doesn't sound familiar, I'm guessing it's the lawyer, the
lawyer who's he gets eaten by thet rex when he's on the toilet.
Uh, Donald Gennaro, I'm guessingit's gonna be the lawyer, the blood
(51:31):
sucking lawyer who gets killed. He'schopped by the t rex. Well,
way to go with your gut, because you were absolutely correct the t rex.
And yeah, what a random characterthrowing here. Wow, Chris is
really gunning for you? Huh Yeah. Yeah. If I wasn't allowed to
give you names of movies, no, I would have never gotten it.
(51:52):
I didn't even know who that.I didn't even know like I had a
name, Yeah, me, neither. It was just a lawyer guy that
got killed on the pot most embarrassingat the movie history. But cool man,
you're killing it. You're only you'reonly missed one. But you're on
a good track. So we'll moveon and let's see if I can pronounce
this correctly. It's one word oneariath Erith Oh Eric Gainsborough from Final Fantasy
(52:15):
seven. Yeah, she gets stabbedthrough the through the back, by bye.
It's very sad. This is avery traumatizing death. I played that
when I was in what is juniorhigh? I think junior high beginning a
high school. Maybe I forget whatI came out. Yeah, uh but
yeah, very sad. She's praying, she gets sacrificed. I think her
(52:38):
spirit comes back later or something likethat. I don't know. We'll see
what happens when the second remake comesout, see if she gets killed again.
Okay, Well, you are absolutelycorrect man, in all your nerdliness.
Yes, she is killed by SepharAll right, well last one here,
let's see if you can finish itoff strong. Are you ready,
my friend ready? Okay? JesseJames, Oh, by the coward Robert
(53:09):
Ford. There's that whole movie withBrad Pitt like the death of Jesse James
by the coward Robert Ford. Hewas a member of his gang. He's
shot by Robert Ford. Shot himin the you shoot him in the back.
But anyway, Robert Ford is theguy's name. I think. Wow,
And you are absolutely correct man.You know your outlaw history. Yes.
(53:31):
April third, eighteen eighty two,Jesse James was shot and killed by
Robert Ford, a new recruit tothe gang who hoped to collect a reward
on James's head. Yeah, promise. So he was like a he he
was like an inside man. Yeahyeah, man, yeah, he too
is a turncoat dude crazy. Ididn't even know that. But way to
(53:52):
go, man, you only missedone. But honestly, the one you
missed was like, what the hell? Nobody knew that one. I don't
know how good of a sign itis that I got all the fictional deaths,
but the one, like the historical, actual historical. Yeah, yeah,
I didn't get that. It's cool, man, he was a nobody
anyways, he just killed. Yeah, he was the coward. He was
(54:14):
a coward, but cool. Well, folks, we hope you enjoyed that
game. That's going to wrap itup for this episode of the Pop Culture
Field Manual podcast. We hope youenjoyed this hour with us in your cars,
and we look forward to next weekwith you. Is he got anything
before we go? Nothing? Man? That's it for me and next till
next time, folks. C Music
