Need more money flowing into your bank account? You're not alone. The disparity between our bills and our income is a reality many of us face, but there are practical ways to change this equation without completely overhauling your life.

In celebration of Financial Literacy Month, this episode delivers three proven strategies for creating additional income streams that anyone can implement. We break down how picking up new skills – particularly in-demand ones like video editing, coding, and AI services – can position you to solve problems people willingly pay for. Best of all, many of these skills can be learned in just 30-90 days through readily available resources.

We also explore the power of content creation as an income stream. The most compelling aspect? You don't need to pretend to be perfect or have it all figured out. Your authentic journey, documented consistently, can attract an audience from the billions of people online who connect with your unique perspective. Someone needs to hear exactly what you have to say, exactly how you say it.

Perhaps most powerful is our discussion on consulting – leveraging the expertise you've already developed but packaging it independently. Many professionals are making hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars for their employers while receiving only a fraction in compensation. By offering your knowledge directly as a consultant, you control your rates, schedule, and ultimately your income potential.

Ready to transform your financial situation? Listen now and discover which of these approaches aligns with your skills and interests. The knowledge is here – the only remaining ingredient is your willingness to take action.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Welcome back to another episode of Pops and Son
Conversations.
It is your favorite, silver Fox.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
And his son here.
Check 3 Tom's.

Speaker 1 (00:19):
Yes, indeed, and we have something special for you
guys.
It is April, it is stillFinancial literacy month, and so
we want to do something specialfor you guys.
Um, first of all, how youfeeling, jay?

Speaker 2 (00:35):
I'm feeling good.
I'm feeling good.
It's been a a busy week, butyou know the grind don't stop.
You got to keep hustling.

Speaker 1 (00:44):
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Super active.
A lot of different projectsgoing on.
We've been rocking out on ourspecial WCW platform.
We got some movies and somefilming going on, so we've been
active, jay.

Speaker 2 (00:59):
Yeah, super active yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Yeah, so, speaking of active, we wanted to talk to
you guys about some additionalways to earn income.
So I know that this is going tobe exciting, because a lot of
people need some additionalincome.
You need some more funds, man.

Speaker 2 (01:17):
Yeah, I need some more funds.
It's never enough.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Never enough.
You know, we also learned thata lot of times.
In order to get what we want,we have to help other people get
what they want, and so thebyproduct of that is blessings
man.
So we like that.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Yeah, that's a big key right there.
Helping others is going to helpyourself.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
So we'll give you guys three solid extra income,
earning gigs, if you will, oropportunities, or strategies,
and so I'm going to kick thingsoff, jay, because you know, I
know for me that you know, working a traditional job or

(02:01):
even a career, you know, sometimes it's not enough.
Even if it's a fulfillingsituation, you still got some,
some things that you need totake care of in the household.
So, look, if you have a bankaccount that gets a bunch of
debits, right, that means youneed more credits, so you can't

(02:23):
have five different bills comingout your bank account, but one
income.
So we got to, we got to makethat right.
So so, let's, let's get into it, so.
So the first one is going to beand I like this one particularly
but the first one is going tobe basically picking up a new
skill set.
Basically picking up a newskill set.

(02:43):
Yeah, you know, sometimes, Jay,we get these degrees and we
don't work in that arena.
Yeah, but it's okay to get someadditional certifications and
get some extra training and thenthat way you can actually get
more income doing something alittle bit different.

Speaker 2 (03:05):
Yeah, I agree 100%.
You got to think outside thebox sometimes and, you know,
really put yourself in aposition to where you can allow
those different streams ofincome to come in.
You can't be so one-trackminded you know, man, that's a
fact.

Speaker 1 (03:22):
That's a fact, you know.
Sometimes it takes learning anew skill or getting some
additional training to find outthat you know you love something
else besides what you do fulltime, so you can find a new
passion and get into somethingdifferent and actually make an
additional income.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Yeah, you know.
Another thing about it is youknow it's one of the realest
ways to change your life.

Speaker 1 (03:48):
You know what I mean.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Picking up a new skill.
You know, like you said, it'scool to.
You know, go back to school, get the degrees and stuff.
But there's things that youcould do and pick up and learn
within 30 to 90 days that youcould turn around and start
making.
You know what I mean making aprofit off of, or just you know.
It's that key to helping otherpeople, because people are

(04:11):
looking for well, people haveproblems.
That's what I mean to say.
People have problems and thekey is just to be, you know, the
problem solver.
You know I can't think of howmany times I've wanted to get
something done but I didn't knowhow to do it myself.
So the first thing I'm doing is, you know, looking up, you know
how to get this done, whocannot.

(04:32):
You know where to get it done, asking around who could do this.
So you got to be that puzzlepiece to you know, just to kind
of add value and be able toprovide a service to somebody.
So you know, pop, I actuallygot a couple things, um, a
couple skills that I think wouldbe helpful, um, especially in

(04:53):
this day and age.
So this is big.
So right now, um, stuff likevideo editing, you know we, we
all you're working on our reelsand our tick tocks and just
different things like that.
But when you you know you, there's a certain um element to
it, to where you see you, youmight see a particular room

(05:13):
you're like man, how did they dothat?
How who can I get to do this?
You know.
So if you got that type ofskill, people will pay for that.
You know people will pay forthat.
Another one is um is coding.
Now, I don't know anythingabout coding, I'm not a software
engineer or whatever it is butbut you know there's people you

(05:34):
know that build these differentapps and websites and things
like that.
But apparently it's fairly easyto, or there's enough resources
out there and online that youcould learn it if you really put
your mind, put your head to it.
So, and that pays Like peopletrust me, you know the coding.
And then another thing too islike with just different

(05:56):
services, like like AI andthings even that you know you
could learn through that.
So that's another one.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
Yeah, those are some solid ones, for sure that you
can actually get a certification.
And then you can, you can bethe outsource for somebody's
brand or somebody's company orsomebody's business.
So that's good.
So let's jump into number two.
So the second one and I thinkthis one is something that a lot
of people are interested indoing but maybe don't know the

(06:28):
steps.
But you know, starting your owncontent channel, you know.
So of course, we're talkingabout, you know your podcast,
talking about your Instagram, your YouTube, your Twitch, all
of those things, man, you can goahead and start your content
channel for free.
That's one of the beautifulthings about it.
And you know, jay man, a lot ofpeople, they, they do content

(06:50):
anyway, right, they do content, you know, with their dog, their
cat.
I don't know what it is aboutalligators, but that is all up
and through my algorithm, man,I'm seeing out, I'm seeing
alligators, crocs.
One time I saw alligator and acroc fighting.
I'm like, wait, oh man, is thisai or is this the real deal?

(07:10):
But it looked like it wasinteresting.
But you know, you can actuallystart, you know, finding a niche
in your, your content channel.
So if you're somebody who youknow likes to uh make gardens,
create gardens and and, uh, youknow, show people how to get

(07:30):
good soil and plant man.
That I think that'd be greatman.
I actually I need to be tryingto do that because I don't eat
enough vegetables, so maybe if Ihad a content channel about
gardening, that would force meto to do better yeah, we gotta.

Speaker 2 (07:47):
You know vegetables are important.
I love broccoli.
Okay, like, how do you do that?
I need to find out who'sgrowing the broccoli man.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
Yeah, um isn't that like uh, gmo or something like
that?

Speaker 2 (08:01):
yeah, I heard that it says like a man it didn't exist
in a while before we we did, like some type of cross, uh,
germination or something, butanyway, um.
So yeah, I agree with you.
Pop the content channel superimportant and one of the great
things about it too, which Iactually learned this from you

(08:22):
it's really about your story andyour process and your journey,
you know.
So you don't have to just comeout the gate with you know, just
looking fly and flashy orlooking like you got it all put
together, because the journey iswhat people really connect with
.
Somebody needs to hear whateveryou have to say.
You have your own perspectiveand you've been through your own

(08:44):
issues to get to where you areand somebody could relate to
that.
So it's really good.
By kind of documenting and notperforming, you know, yeah, we
got the different.
You know people that we like togo and see them.
You know, perform or we like toact or you know whatever you

(09:04):
might call it on social media, not just performing, but they're
just showing you what they'redoing on a daily, how they're
maneuvering through whateverpassion they have and just
talking about what they'relearning and what they're

(09:25):
building.
So I think that's really a realway to do it, and the coolest
thing is that anybody could doit.
Whatever position you are inlife right now, you could start
your content channel and say hey, come learn with me, me, come
grow with me, and I promise youall these people out here in the
world, all scattered throughoutthe planet, somebody's going to
be tuning in just to watch yourevolution yeah, yeah, just

(09:48):
billions of people and, uh, I'mpretty sure that you can get a
few hundred thousand out of thebillions.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
So, as long as you think big because you know a lot
of times that people just thinkabout you, know their, their
local audience or they thinkabout their family and friends
and man the Internet you getaccess to billions of people,
and so it's important to stayconsistent and make sure that
you're coming from an authenticplace.

(10:16):
Like you mentioned before, youknow this is stuff that you
already know, right, so youdon't have to pretend you don't
have to, to go through impostersyndrome or anything like that.
You can be who you areauthentically and you can share
your gems, because there'speople out here that don't know
what you know.
And that is a great position tobe in, because you can share

(10:40):
and you can come from a sincereposture and really help some
folks out.
So I love that.
I love that.
I'm digging that.
Let's give him one more, jay.

Speaker 2 (10:50):
Okay, so this will be the last one.
This is also a good one too.
Consulting, yeah.
So think about if you everhelped somebody figure something
out and then they came back toyou and they took that advice
and they changed some things forthem.

(11:12):
You know what I'm saying.
You've already done, you know.
You've done it before.
You know you consulted somebodyand helped them.
You know get through somethingor get to something.
So I think sometimes weoverthink it.
Consulting is just, you know, getting paid for your brain.
You know just getting paid for.
You know also, you know problemsolving, building and then

(11:39):
teaching.
You know.
So if you could package that, you know maybe call it like you
know, a strategy, session, powerhour, whatever it is.
You know, put your little spinon it, but again, somebody will,
you know people will pay forthat, especially if you have.
You know, put your little spinon it, but again, somebody will,
you know people will pay forthat, especially if you have,
you know, certain testimonials.
You can show that you'regetting results.

(12:01):
You got.
You know people that will vouchfor you.
You know you could go reallyfar with that.

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Yeah, I like that.
When we talk about consultationand consulting in a business
aspect of it, there's a lot ofcareer professionals that are
already doing that in theirspace.
You know they already are in asupervisor or managerial
position and you know they'rehelping the team reach goals and

(12:27):
you're, like you mentioned, strategizing and a game planning
, and so they're doing it forsomeone else right now, you know
.
So you take the very same skillthat you are making hundreds of
thousands and millions ofdollars for your employer and
you package that up and then youactually are now being

(12:50):
outsourced your skill set, yourprofessionalism outsourced.
Your skill set, yourprofessionalism you get to
actually consult Right.
So in the gravy part about thatis you create what your, your
fee is you create.
You know what you're going tocharge and a lot of times it can

(13:10):
be a lot more than what youremployer is telling you you're
worth.
So now we're getting reallyserious, we're getting deep with
this thing.
When we talk about creatingdifferent avenues of income, I
think consulting is one of thestrongest methods that people
can take their current skill andthe skill that they've been

(13:31):
trained and the skill that theyhave certifications and degrees
with, and truly implement andutilize it in making it a source
of income.
You can make it your ownbusiness.
You can work independently, create your own hours, create
your own schedule, and it's abeautiful thing.

(13:52):
I think consulting is one ofthe most powerful things and I
see it a lot.
I see a lot of businessprofessionals that have made
millions of dollars for acompany and they're like hey,
you know what?
I'm making this company tensand hundreds of millions of
dollars and I'm getting a setpay.
It has nothing to do with theprofit margin that they are

(14:13):
creating for the business.
So, for instance, if you justclose a $10 million deal for
your company but you make ahundred thousand dollars a year,
you make a hundred thousanddollars a year but just billions
of dollars for this company, and they're telling you what
you're worth, man, this isgetting, this is getting deep.

(14:35):
They're getting, this isgetting deep, this is getting
crucial.
So I think consulting is is oneof the most profitable and the
most satisfying ways to createincome.
Uh, also create a new careerwhere you actually get to guide
your own path and journey.

Speaker 2 (14:58):
Yeah, yeah, it's powerful, that's powerful pop.
So you know, hopefully, um,through these you know three
different tidbits somebody outthere listening we'll, you know,
we'll be able to to grabsomething and maybe think about
just picking up a new way toincrease their value, increase

(15:19):
their income and just add a newstream of income.
We all need it, like we said, but it's about being willing
Also having the knowledge.
Once you get the knowledge, youhave to apply it and got to be
willing to.
You know, to put the effort, toput the effort into it, but you
know it can be done becausepeople are doing it every day.

(15:41):
So don't don't give yourselfany excuses on why you know you
can't generate more money thanyou already making.

Speaker 1 (15:50):
Absolutely, and that's what we got for you guys
today.
We gave you three additionalways to earn income.
The first one was pick up a newskill, go ahead and grab that
certification, that that newskill set, and get it going.
Then, of course, you can createyour own content creation

(16:12):
channel that's YouTube, yourpodcast, uh, things like that.
And finally, getting toconsultation, be a consultant
and utilize those skills thatyou already have so you can be
an asset to yourself first andthen an asset to a company where
you can take them to the nextlevel.

(16:33):
So, that being said, hey, we'regoing to see you guys next
episode.
It's your favorite soul Fox,rob Malloy.

Speaker 2 (16:41):
And you already know double check and check again,
check three times, son.
This is Pops and SonConversations and we'll see
y'all next time.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
See ya.
