Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to the
Positioned Podcast.
I am your host, kimberly Knight, and today we're going to talk
about how you can get more donein three months than you would
in an entire year.
Be sure to like, share and tagthis broadcast, because this is
a game changer, not just fortime management, but also for
your revenue.
So one of the things that youprobably know about me right by
(00:26):
now is that I love planning.
I absolutely love planning, andI think a lot of times we'll
get a word or we have an ideaand it doesn't always turn out
the way we want it to turn outbecause we haven't properly
planned for it.
Well, those days are over.
I'm going to help you to do thekind of planning that leads you
to not only do business welland have a profitable business,
(00:50):
but also to live a life you love.
Okay, so the first thing that Ido when I plan is most of you
know by now, I guess, that I dosome prophetic planning, right?
So I pray, I want to knowwhat's on the heart of God
before I even get started, because that is key.
His will is his bill, right?
(01:12):
So, tapping into that divinenature of him and timing, he
created time.
He exists outside of time andcreated time.
So if I'm going to plan, then Ineed to speak to the maker of
it, right?
So that's my first course ofbusiness every single time.
The next thing I do is I getvery strategic about what I'm
(01:35):
picking up or hearing in thespirit or the things I want to
accomplish, the things I want toplan and have planned.
I become very strategic aboutit and I reverse engineer it.
One of the things you'll see inthe Bible is that God knew the
end from the beginning, right?
So he started at the end andworked his way backwards.
And guess what?
If it's good for God, it's goodfor me.
(01:56):
So I started at the end and Iworked my way backwards.
What do I want this project tolook like?
What do I want the outcome tobe?
And then I plan my activities.
What a lot of people do is theyplan their activities and hope
for the outcome.
I look at the outcome and thenplan the activities accordingly,
working backwards.
(02:17):
So reverse engineer yourstrategic planning.
The next thing you want to dois not just reverse engineer it,
but look at what do I need toaccomplish every single week,
right, those three months?
It boils down to more or less12 weeks.
What do I need to accomplishover the next 12 to 13 weeks in
(02:37):
order to get to that outcome?
Now, once you do that, you'regoing to look at it every single
week.
Make sure that you're notoverloading yourself.
That's another thing that youknow.
I found very helpfulconcentrating, focusing, being
efficient, effective and focused, so that I'm not scattered
between 10 and 12 projects, taking on only one or two large
(03:00):
projects or as many projects asI can hire help for and I'm
getting a little bit ahead, butI'll talk about that in a minute
.
But during my week, I have alist of things I need to
accomplish in order to get to mydesired end by the 12th or 13th
week.
That said, you want to gothrough that list with a
(03:22):
fine-tooth comb, right?
This is not just a to-do list.
You want to make sure that itfits into your timing, that
you're taking into account anyof the other things that you
have to do in your life.
If it's a really heavy familytime, then you may not have as
much time in your office.
So instead of making yourselffrustrated or missing out on an
important event or somethingelse that's important to you,
(03:43):
then you now have to tailor yourlist for that week.
I also like to leave myself alittle margin of time on that
weekly assignment list just incase stuff happens, because
guess what Stuff happens.
So rather than make myselfupset about that or get
frustrated, I have to pre-plan,so plan for the contingency
(04:07):
ahead of time.
Okay, so you reverse engineerit, you come up with your weekly
assignment list and then I justsaid it you hire help.
I don't take on more projectsnow than I have the support for
If it is just me on the project, then I make sure that it is
something that I can handle, that I have the margin, the time
, the energy, the effort, theknow-how, the wisdom all of that
(04:30):
in order to accomplish it bymyself.
If I do not, I do not take onmore project than I have help.
All right, that's just a tipfor the wise.
Do not take on more projectthan you have help.
And if you want to take onbigger projects and stretch
projects, like I did and Italked about this in my podcast
episode, both part one and parttwo, about how I made more last
(04:54):
year than ever before If youhave not listened to those two
episodes, you need to go backand listen to them, because
there's gold in those hills.
There is some gold in that, soI'll put the link in the show
notes.
But I hired help in order totake on projects that were
bigger than my normal projects.
(05:14):
And because I took projectsthat were bigger than my normal
projects, I also made morerevenue than I did with my
normal projects.
So it's counterproductive.
Because I'm counterintuitive, Ishould say rather, because you
think that, oh, if I have tohire help, that's going to take
away from my bottom line.
Actually, it added so the moneythat I invested in staff and it
(05:36):
was not full-time staff, I hadall virtual, project-based
hourly staff.
It really paid for itself.
And then some um, I cannotoveremphasize that you're not
going to get to the next leveldoing it all.
You're just not Stop it.
Go ahead and hire the help.
You'll be so glad you did.
(05:56):
Write me and let me know howglad you were.
Okay, and we can celebratetogether.
The other thing is here's thething.
Here's the thing that happenedfor me.
I also monitored the amount oftime I spent in entertainment
and then I'll tell you how allthis turned out.
One of the things that we dowhen we want to de-stress or
have some downtime is do somemind numbing stuff Like we binge
(06:21):
TV or you know we we deathscroll on the phone, or or we
get on social media and andwatch 10,000, literally videos
right of dogs eating cake orwhatever.
And rather than monitoring thatand just going into that space,
I advocate setting up times andexperiences you really want to
(06:49):
have, so that it's quality andit's contained.
What we don't want isundisciplined pleasure.
So what I mean by that is weget on.
You know, this happened to merecently, so confession is good
for the soul.
This happened to me recently.
I went on social media to findthere was someone I wanted to
connect to, so I went on to gether contact information and an
(07:12):
hour later I still hadn't beenon her page.
I was scrolling and viewingvideos.
They were hysterical, I have totell you.
The videos y'all are doing agreat job, but it kept me from
doing what I was called to do.
It broke my momentum and brokemy focus.
I wasted a whole hour and if youever calculate how much you
make per hour, that hurts right.
(07:33):
So let's just, for argument'ssake and easy math, say you're
making a hundred bucks an hourand you are on social media for
three hours a day total and thenyou come home and you binge TV
for another four.
That's seven hours.
That's $700 you could have made.
And then we say we don't haveenough money or our business is
not profitable.
(07:53):
No, we chose to use that timein a way that was not profitable
.
Selah, think about that right?
So for me now, what I do my bestto do is to plan my
entertainment so that I do nothave undisciplined entertainment
, because that just leads to onehour, two hours, seven hours,
(08:15):
before you know it wasted, whereI could have been making income
and paying for the kind ofexperiences I really want to
have.
I don't want to sit there forthree hours wishing I could have
the experiences that I'mwatching someone on social media
having, when I could make thatmoney in those seven hours and
have those experiences in reallife Like hello.
So monitor the amount of timethat you take for entertainment
(08:39):
and seek out what is trulydesired by you, rather than just
watching someone else livetheir life.
That said, for that freed uptime.
So let's say, just using thesame example, you have those
seven hours now freed up becauseyou have hired staff.
You're monitoring yourentertainment.
You now have to make sure thatyou're using that time for your
priorities.
(09:00):
My priorities are my family, myrelationship with God and my
business Definitely not in thatorder, but those are my
priorities.
Right?
My relationship with God getsfirst mentioned every single day
.
That's the first thing I do inthe morning, before I even get
out of bed.
I usually have prayed and atleast greeted God for the day
and asked him what my dailyorders are.
(09:22):
My family, building businessand supporting the kingdom.
Those are my top priorities.
So I use those freedom hoursjust using the same example,
those seven hours to eithercommune with God and his people,
my family, or to build business.
Right.
So I'm not only freeing up timeand giving myself the margin of
(09:43):
time, which is a gift, I'm alsousing it in a way that is
beneficial.
Otherwise, all you have is morefreed up time for mind numbing
activities like scrolling on theinternet.
So quality entertainment, making sure that it's contained,
spending it how I really wantto spend it.
And remember we don't justspend time, we invest it.
(10:04):
We don't just spend it, weinvest it, and how and what you
choose to invest in willdetermine your outcomes.
I know this.
Seems like this is a littlesimple, but it works.
Seems like this is a littlesimple, but it works, and I got
(10:24):
more done in three months, in 90days, than I did in a whole
entire year just by doing thesefew things.
I am telling you it works.
And I want to go back to ourexample.
I'm going to make the math eveneasier, because you know even
easier, because you know whymake it hard.
Let's say you free up 10 hoursa week.
That's 520 hours a year.
(10:45):
52 weeks times 10 hours is 520hours a week how much you make
an hour.
Let's use the $100 example,right.
So let's say you make $100 anhour.
$100 an hour times 52 weeks, times 10 hours per week, is
$52,000 worth of time.
(11:08):
Would that help you in your life?
Could that help you to meet somefinancial goals and
responsibilities you have?
Is it worth it to you to turnoff that television?
Is it worth it to you to turnoff that television?
Is it worth it to you tomonitor your entertainment time
and to use your resource of timemore wisely by using it for
(11:28):
money-making activities?
I'm just asking questionsbecause I could be wrong.
Don't think I am, but I couldbe wrong.
So I'm saying to you considerthis, consider these strategies,
so that you're able to say, bythe end of the next quarter,
right, this quarter just started.
Literally, it just started like30 days ago.
(11:49):
So we're one third in.
So if, what if over the nexteven 60 days you tried just to
see if it worked, and the nextquarter you go hard on and full
just to see if it works?
I mean, what do you have tolose at this point, right?
So I would love to hear fromyou.
My contact information will bein the show notes.
(12:10):
Let me know how thesestrategies are working for you
and what you accomplished withthe time that you freed up.
I can't wait to hear from you, because this stuff really works.
Be sure to like, share and tagthe broadcast, because you have
friends who also need to bemaking that kind of money and
spending time with you havingfun with that quality
(12:31):
entertainment.
Until next time, be wonderfullyblessed.
Bye now.
