Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to the
Position Podcast.
I am your host, kimberly Knight, and today we are going to
continue our discussion on whyGod may not have answered your
prayers.
And I will tell you I was donewith that episode.
I felt like you know it wasfinished and it was a little
brief.
It was finished.
If you haven't had a chance tolisten to it yet, go back.
Listen to that episode.
(00:21):
I'll leave the link in the shownotes and then come back here
for a deeper dive.
I'll tell you about whathappened.
As far as I was concerned, I wasdone with that topic and I had
some other things I wanted toshare with you today.
But I ran into a friend and shesaid oh, I was just about to
call you.
I just finished listening toyour episode on why God doesn't
(00:42):
answer prayers and I said Ithink there's more.
Okay, girl, I trust yourjudgment.
I'm going to go back and prayand see if there's more, and
guess what?
There's more.
So I'm going to share that withyou today.
Again, if you haven't listenedto the first episode, go back
and listen to it and then comeback for this deeper dive.
Y'all know how I do things.
(01:02):
I like to jump in right fromthe start into the deep end of
the pool, and that's where we'regoing to go today, and this is
for our brethren.
So, brethren, listen up.
The first reason I want to sharewith you today about why God
may not be answering yourprayers is because you're cruel
to your wife.
My, my, my.
(01:23):
So let me just read thescripture to you.
It is 1 Peter 3, 7 in theAmplified.
In the same way, you husbandslive with your wives in an
understanding way, with greatgentleness and tact and with an
intelligent regard for themarriage relationship as with
someone physically weaker, sinceshe is a woman.
(01:44):
Relationship as with someonephysically weaker, since she is
a woman.
Show her honor and respect as afellow heir of the grace of
life, so that your prayers willnot be hindered or ineffective.
So, brethren, if your prayersfeel hindered or ineffective, go
back and check your maritalrelationship.
There's so many things I wantto say about this one, but I'm
(02:08):
going to just say this Checkyourself so you don't wreck
yourself, brethren, amen, allright.
Another reason why God may notbe answering your prayers is
because he told you don't pray.
I've only had this happen to meonce in my lifetime and I have
to tell you.
It's a very sobering thing.
(02:30):
It is extremely sobering.
But let me share something withyou from the scriptures from
Jeremiah 7, 16 in the New LivingTranslation Pray no more for
these people, jeremiah.
Do not weep or pray for them, and don't beg me to help them,
for I will not listen to you IfGod ever tells you don't pray.
(02:51):
Well, I can't help you.
If God says no, well, baby, you're on your own.
You don't see that commonly inthe scripture, right?
So you had to go pretty far forhim to say don't pray for these
people.
Don't cry about these people.
Don't send up a whale.
I don't want to hear.
(03:12):
Don't travail for them, I amdone.
And if you decide to do itanyway, I'm not listening.
Who made God that mad?
Not much I can do for you aboutthat.
Here's another reason why Godmay not be answering our prayers
.
God will not answer our prayerswhen we have the wrong motives.
(03:33):
In James 4, 2 through 3 in theNew Living Translation it says
you want what you don't have, soyou scheme and kill to get it.
You are jealous of what othershave, but you can't get it, so
you fight and wage war to takeit from them.
Yet you don't have what youwant because you don't ask God
for it.
And even when you ask, youdon't get it because your
(03:57):
motives are all wrong.
You want only what will giveyou pleasure.
Oh, this is some pretty strongstuff, y'all.
This is why I guess he sent meback to get these additional
points.
When we pray with the wrongmotive, he says you want
something, but I'm not giving itto you because you're asking me
(04:18):
for things that you should notbe asking me.
And then, when I don't give itto you, you want to take it from
someone who has it.
Wow, sometimes we focus so muchon our words.
We don't focus on our attitudeor our motive for asking.
So not only does he require ofus the words that give him honor
and that make the request known, but he also requires that our
(04:39):
heart be in the right place andhim honor and that make the
request known, but he alsorequires that our heart be in
the right place.
And when our heart is in theright not in the right place but
our words are he's still notobligated to answer.
Can't make this stuff up, folks.
All right, I told y'all tobuckle up.
It was going to be one of thoseepisodes.
So here's the next one.
The anthem went out to yourprayer, but spiritual warfare
(05:03):
stopped it.
Oh my gosh, how many of y'allremember the story of Daniel?
Let me read this to you Daniel10, 12 through 13.
Then he said this is the angel.
This is an angel that wasdispatched to talk to Daniel, an
angel of God.
Then he said don't be afraid, daniel.
(05:26):
Since the first day you beganto pray for understanding and to
humble yourself before God,your request has been heard in
heaven.
I have come in answer to yourprayer, but for 21 days the
spirit prince of the kingdom ofPersia blocked my way.
Then Michael, one of thearchangels, came to help me and
I left him there with the spiritprince of the kingdom of Persia
(05:48):
.
So there's so much here tounpack, right?
So, first of all, daniel wasdeep in prayer because by this
time, angels were coming to talkdirectly to him.
This is deep and he said weheard you the first day that you
prayed and you humbled yourself.
Now listen, this is hot off thepress, because I didn't have
this in my notes.
(06:09):
Are we praying and humblingourselves?
Sometimes we put a demand onGod rather than humbling
ourselves and making ourrequests known.
That was hot off the press.
I don't have that in my notes,so let us be aware of how we
approach the throne Now.
He said I came to answer yourprayer but there was a
principality that only anarchangel could handle I had to
(06:31):
call for backup.
If an angel had to call forbackup, you know we need to be
on our knees.
You know we need to be on ourknees, on our face and real
humble, keeping a cue, keep acue.
He had to call for an archangel, not just other angels.
He had to call for an archangelto come so he could get this
answer to daniel.
(06:51):
Now something else just came inmy spirit, hot off the press
again.
Father sent an angelic army tobattle to make sure that Daniel
got his response.
Think about that for a moment.
God wanted him to have thatanswer so badly that he sent
angels.
He dispatched angels to dowarfare to get that word to him
(07:14):
so that Daniel would have theanswer that he was asking God
for.
My, my, my.
Let's move on to our next point.
The answer came, but it wasbetter than you expected and you
either didn't know how to dealwith it you didn't think it was
real or you didn't process itproperly.
So this story, I absolutelylove this passage and this story
(07:40):
because I think that sometimeswe think the answers to our
prayers are too good to be true, like Rhoda did.
I'm going to read a passage toyou from Acts 12 9 through 15 in
the New Living Translation, because sometimes we're Rhoda.
So Peter left the cell followingthe angel, but all the time he
thought it was a vision.
(08:01):
He didn't realize it wasactually happening.
They passed the first and thesecond guard post and came to
the iron gate leading to thecity, and this opened for them
all by itself.
So they passed through andstarted walking down the street,
and then the angel suddenlyleft him.
Peter finally came to hissenses.
It's really true.
(08:21):
He said the Lord has sent hisangel and saved me from Herod
and from what the Jewish leadershad planned to do to me.
When he realized this, he wentto the home of Mary, the mother
of John Mark, where many weregathered for prayer.
He knocked at the door in thegate, and a servant girl named
Rhoda came to open it.
When she recognized Peter'svoice, she was so overjoyed that
(08:44):
, instead of opening the door, she ran back inside and told
everyone Peter is standing atthe door.
You're out of your mind.
They said hey, when sheinsisted, they decided it must
be his angel.
So you're upset when I don'tanswer the prayer.
And then when I give you amiraculous deliverance and
answer to your request, youstill don't believe it.
(09:06):
Oh my gosh, we're a mess, right, just a hot mess.
She said oh, our prayers havebeen answered.
Peter's at the door.
She leaves him outside.
You can't make this stuff up.
And then they're like oh, itmust be his angel, let me in
this daggone house.
I'm standing out here in thestreet waiting for a road to
open.
Let me in.
So sometimes the answer to ourprayer seems to be too good to
(09:28):
be true.
When that happens, receive it,rejoice and share the testimony
of what God has done, becausesometimes our answers are so
miraculous, they are sowonderful that they can be hard
to believe.
But you better receive it,believe it and share about it.
(09:49):
Let's go on to.
This is the last one.
The last reason that God may nothave answered your prayer that
I want to share with you todayis that God had a better idea.
According to Isaiah 55, 8, itsays my thoughts are nothing
like your thoughts, says theLord, isaiah 55, 8,.
It says my thoughts are nothinglike your thoughts, says the
Lord, and my ways are far beyondanything that you can imagine.
(10:10):
So sometimes well, every timeGod has a better idea than the
request that you've made.
I'm going to say that again.
Sometimes God has a better ideathan the request that you've
made, so he's not answering thatprayer.
He's doing something differentin your life, and when he does,
(10:30):
you've got to let him.
Yeah, I mean.
Well, you know, he is God,after all, and his ways are not
our ways and his thoughts arehigher than ours.
And aren't we glad about that?
All right, so those are justsome of the reasons why God may
not have answered your prayer.
(10:52):
Again, there is another episode.
Please go back and listen to it.
The show notes will have thelink.
And please, with this episode,I want you to pray.
I want you to ask God are therereasons?
Are any of these reasons activein the responses that I have
not yet received?
And then wait for an answer, humble your heart, like he told
(11:14):
us earlier, so that you canreceive that response and then
govern yourself accordingly.
All right, have a wonderfullyblessed day.
I'll see you on the nextepisode.
Bye now.
