Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to the
Positioned Podcast.
I am your host, kimberly Knight, and, if you're just joining us
, I have been recording a seriescalled Don't Panic Prepare.
Today is going to be part two, which is document preparedness.
There will be a regularlyscheduled programming, but
periodically I'm also going tobe releasing these preparedness
(00:22):
series, because it is reallyimportant for us to have our
stuff together and be ready forwhatever comes.
That said, I have to start witha hard truth that most of you
are not prepared for what iscoming.
And it's not because you'relazy or irresponsible.
It is because we have beenlulled into a normal that is not
(00:45):
going to continue indefinitely.
And if, like the sons ofIssachar, you know the times and
the seasons, you can discernwhat that means for today.
Remember our theme at us inProverbs 31, that the Proverbs
31 woman was not afraid of snowfor her household because she
was prepared.
(01:05):
And the snow is coming, dearones, and I'm not talking about
winter.
The snow is coming.
And will we be ready?
So my goal today is to help youto get your documents in order
so that you won't be caught offguard.
So let me just break this down.
I've divided this into threecritical areas.
(01:26):
In general, you need to know ina crisis, you're going to have
to be able to prove three things.
Who you are is the first one.
It is critical to be able toprove your identity, your
citizenship, and not only to beable to prove it, but to have it
immediately available to you, because when systems go down,
(01:50):
you become invisible and, without proper documentation,
even your family relationships.
They're going to need ironcladproof.
You need your marriagecertificates, birth certificates
, custody papers Come on, thesearen't just bureaucratic
formalities.
No, these are going to be yourlifeline to your loved ones.
You may well have to provethese are your children.
(02:12):
We don't know what the futureholds, but we can prepare as
much as we can.
If anyone in your family hasspecial medical needs or needs
accommodations, make sure youhave the comprehensive records
you need, because when hospitalsare overwhelmed and your
regular doctors are notavailable, these are going to
become your voice.
(02:32):
If you have legal protections, like wills, trust, powers of
attorney, you want those currentand accessible.
This may be the time to updatesome paperwork.
People Crisis reveals who hasauthority in your life and there
are special things that wouldgo into place if we went into
some kind of crisis and we wantto be able to have our
(02:54):
documentation in order.
So that's the first area whoyou are, in other words, your
identity and then the secondcritical area we want to prepare
for is where we belong.
That goes into things likeproperty ownership and your
housing situation.
So, even if you're leasingright, if you're renting you
(03:16):
wanna make sure that you have alease, that you have your
apartment insurance in place, and if you own your home or
property, you want to make suredeeds and mortgages and
insurance policies are where youneed to get to them in case of
chaos.
Also, you want your emergencycontacts current and you want to
make sure that your educationalcredentials, your professional
(03:37):
standings, anything that wouldrequire verification for you to
return to work is in place, evenif you think that your employer
may already have these things.
If normal systems fail, we needto have our own backups.
Things like your vehicleownership and insurance will
become important, and it securesyour mobility.
Just by FYI a little bit offtopic, but not too far you want
(04:01):
to keep your tank full too, because if you need to leave
where you are to go to adifferent place or to seek
shelter elsewhere, you'll needto be able to get there All
right.
The third critical area that youneed to prepare your documents
for is what you own, so who youare, where you belong and what
you own.
So any of your financial assetsor accounts will need paper
(04:23):
documentation, because banks canfreeze, systems can crash,
digital records can disappearand be hacked, and you want to
be prepared for that.
You should be printing out allof your monthly statements, even
in your investment andretirement accounts, if, even if
you're nowhere near retirementage, it doesn't matter.
Any insurance policies you haveshould have a physical backup.
(04:45):
Don't assume that the cloud ispermanent, my friends.
Also, you want to take ahousehold inventory with photo
and video, and this is going toprotect your ability if you ever
have to rebuild, becauseinsurance companies won't take
your word for what you lost.
Your digital life also needs tobe secured, handwritten backup
(05:09):
plans about what you would doand how to proceed if the grid
goes down.
You also want your passwordswritten down somewhere on paper,
because these will becomegolden if you need them later on
, especially if you have savedthem in a password capturing
software on your computer andyou don't know them.
(05:29):
You need to get those and havethose readily available on paper
, somewhere secure.
And I'll be honest with you, here is what I'm seeing, my
friends there's a shaking coming, if it's not already upon us,
and the systems that we reliedon may or may not be as
permanent as we think.
They may go through differentkinds of changes, and we just
(05:51):
want to be prepared.
Right In Amos 3.7, the Lordsays that he does nothing unless
he first reveals it to hisfriends, the prophets.
So consider this yourrevelation, get prepared, and,
of course, it's not justpractical, it's also spiritual,
and I will look at that inanother episode.
(06:11):
But right now, I want to talk toyou about stewarding not just
your own future and your owndocumentation, but making sure
that the futures of those whoyou are responsible for and to
are also secured.
We want to make sure that youhave all the practical things in
place to cover your children, your elderly parents, any
(06:32):
disabled family members andanyone and anything that is
counting on you for wisdom andprotection.
So, that said, I want to say toyou that this is a time to
prepare, not panic.
We don't live in fear, we walkin wisdom, and the prepared
woman or the prepared man willprepare, not panic.
We don't live in fear we walkin wisdom, and the prepared
woman or the prepared man willnot have to panic because when
(06:55):
the storm hits, they've alreadydone the work.
Now, to that end, I've createdthis complete, don't panic
prepare document checklist.
Yes, that's the name of it.
I know it's corny, but listen, you'll thank me for it if you
ever have to use it.
It's going to break downexactly what you need, where to
store your information and howto organize it for every person
(07:16):
that you're responsible for, andyou'll find the link to it in
the show notes.
It is absolutely free.
I want to sow this into you andinto your family.
This is my gift to you, soplease click on that link in the
show notes.
Download several copies.
Make sure that you have a copyfor every one that you are
responsible for, including yourfur babies.
You want to make sure that yourfur babies, their shots, are up
(07:38):
to date and all those things, and that you have the
documentation that proves that.
Don't wait until the snow hasfallen to prepare.
The sons of Issachar knew theseasons, they prepared, and this
is ours.
So until next time, don't panic, prepare, stay wonderfully
blessed.
Bye now.
