Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome back to the
Position Podcast.
I am your host, kimberly Knight, and in our last episode we
talked about why most Christianentrepreneurs are not getting
the maximum benefit from theirplanning and goal setting, and
how to plan, like mymultimillion dollar clients, and
see better results.
So if you missed that episode,go back and listen to the first
(00:22):
one, because what I'm sharingtoday is going to build on the
foundations of that episode.
You'll see the link in the shownotes.
In today's episode, I'm goingto give you some of the
methodology that I use withthese corporations and other
entities specifically forkingdom entrepreneurs, and this
is going to help you to betterplan out the practical and the
(00:45):
spiritual aspects of yourkingdom business.
I will tell you this thisprocess will transform how you
approach business planning andit is going to set you up for
extraordinary success.
So we're going to dive right inNow.
Most of you, and myself included, are very familiar with
(01:08):
Habakkuk 2.2, right.
Write the vision and make itplain that he who reads it can
run.
In other words, when you have aspecific vision, you can
accomplish it faster withintentionality.
The interesting thing here isthat the word for vision in this
passage actually translates asprophecy, so it is actually
(01:31):
telling you to get clear aboutyour kingdom purpose and
prophesy.
It prophesy into its future, over your business, what you
want to see, what you want theresult of your work to be.
So that is the mindset I wantyou to have as we approach our
planning session.
Additionally, you're going towant to not only include things
(01:52):
like how much money you want tomake, how many widgets you want
to sell or whatever, but alsowhat is God calling you to
complete and accomplish throughyour business.
So don't forget to add that inas well.
Accordingly, you're going toneed the wisdom from heaven.
Let's do that first.
Let's seek divine guidancefirst, through fasting and
(02:16):
prayer.
I'm telling you, this is yoursecret weapon, dear ones.
This is your secret weapon.
Before you touch a spreadsheet, before you write a goal, fast
and pray.
This will give you theopportunity to tap into the
heart of God.
It will clear up your hearing.
It is going to give you theadvantage that secular
(02:36):
corporations and entities do nothave.
So take full advantage of yourdivine wisdom that you get to
tap into.
Also, you want to make sure that, as you're setting your goals,
as you're looking at yourplanning period, that it aligns
(02:56):
with God's purposes for you andfor your business.
Because, remember, for us it isnot just business, it is not
just about revenue, it's alsosupposed to have a kingdom
impact.
Your business is the answer tosomeone else's prayers and
petitions and needs that they'vepresented to God.
And God said well, I am goingto send a Kimberly who is going
(03:17):
to help entrepreneurs plan sothat they can increase their
revenue and increase theirkingdom impact, so that they can
increase their revenue andincrease their kingdom impact.
So what impact is God callingyou to make through your
enterprise?
Make sure that you're planningaround those impacts, as well as
the financial impacts and theother metrics that you'll use
(03:39):
for measuring your planning andsuccess.
Measuring your planning andsuccess.
That said, again, define yourvision beyond the financial.
You'll also want to look atwhere do you want your business
to be by the end of yourplanning period.
So, if you're planning for theyear, it would be from January
(04:00):
1st to December 31st, or if youdo it as a fiscal year, it may
be from July 1st to June 31st,june 30th.
But whatever that planningperiod is, what do you want your
business to look like at theend of the period?
Lives transformed, incomegenerated.
What are going to be yourmetrics of success?
(04:20):
Also, what legacy are youlooking to build through your
kingdom enterprise?
We have a connection to aneternal purpose also, a purpose
that is far beyond how muchincome we made Now.
Revenue is very important, don't get me wrong, but we also
want to make sure that we aremaking strategic decisions that
(04:41):
also line up with the will ofGod for our lives, our calls and
our legacies.
Accordingly, you're going toneed to use your priority
protocol.
If you haven't listened to thatepisode, go back and listen to
that episode, because a lot ofwhat we're going to talk about
today is going to be tied toyour predetermined priorities.
(05:01):
So, again, I'll leave that linkin the show notes.
Predetermined priorities so,again, I'll leave that link in
the show notes.
Now your priority protocol and Ispoke about this in part one
needs to be appliedstrategically, so that looks
like you establishing yourpriorities for that planning
period ahead of time, so thatevery decision that you make
(05:22):
from that point forward alignswith those predetermined
priorities.
Let me tell you why that's soimportant.
That is hyper important, because you will no longer make
emotional decisions.
You are less likely to getdistracted by bright, shiny
objects I think I don't rememberwhat movie it was, but the dog
(05:44):
would become so distracted hewould see squirrel and I
definitely see squirrelssometimes and bright, shiny
objects that may distract mefrom my main purposes and
definitely may take me away frommy four stated priorities.
So having the priority protocol, which helps you to define what
your priorities are before youhave to make decisions, is going
(06:04):
to help you.
When you have to make adecision in the moment and the
decision is a difficult one oryour choices are not the most
optimal right, you'll be able tohave that decision-making
criteria that is going toeliminate double-mindedness
before you need it.
This is also particularlyhelpful for opportunities that
(06:27):
may arrive right, because youwill be able to evaluate them
based on your priorities andintentionality and save time,
money, energy, effort for thethings that really matter to you
and for the projects thatreally matter to you and for the
clients that are best suitedfor you, rather than just being
willy-nilly about it oraccepting everything that comes
(06:49):
along.
Just because something isoffered to you doesn't mean that
you should necessarily takethat project Ooh, that's a word
for somebody.
Just because you're offered aproject doesn't mean you should
take it Just because you'reoffered an opportunity doesn't
mean you should take it.
Just because you're offered anopportunity doesn't mean you
should take it.
It doesn't mean that it's bestfor you or for your business, or
that it aligns with God's willfor your life or your priorities
(07:13):
for this season.
Okay, that really was a wordfor somebody.
If that was you, drop me a line, drop me an email, drop a
comment.
Let me know that that was youand how it impacted you.
I would love to hear from you.
All right, also, with ourpriority protocol, we're going
to apply these priorities toevery strategic decision, from
(07:34):
your partnerships to yourproduct launches, to how you
spend your time.
All of that is going to befiltered through your priority
protocol.
All of that is going to befiltered through your priority
protocol.
So, whether or not I connect toBrother Green Jacket or Sister
(07:55):
Yellow Dress is going to lookback at my priority protocol and
see what I am supposed to bedoing and keeping as the main
thing during this season.
Now, once that's in place, youalso want to look at your
investment and growth planning.
Investment and growth planninglooks at your learning and
development and hiring.
How much do you need to investin order to reach that level.
(08:21):
Now here's the thing that'sinteresting.
I cannot tell you how manypeople I've heard say you know,
I want a six-figure business,but they're only investing in
their personal and professionaldevelopment and hiring to at a
hundred dollar level.
Oh, I know I stepped on somepinky toes, but I love you.
(08:42):
I'm saying this in love.
So if your goal is a hundredthousand dollars by year end and
you're not planning forsignificant investments in
coaching, in masterminds, inconferences, in hiring the right
support team yeah, I've gotquestions and I'm asking them
out of love, because if youinvest just at the level you're
(09:06):
at, what you're saying is I planto maintain this level.
If you invest at the next levelor at the level that you would
like to grow to, then you arealso creating the context and
the structure and theinfrastructure for your business
to be there.
I love you.
Okay, so you want to identifywhat you need to learn and who
(09:31):
you need to hire.
You look at any skill gaps thatyou have that are preventing
you from reaching your goals.
You have that are preventingyou from reaching your goals.
You want to look at any areaswhere you need to grow or
enhance your learning so thatyou can increase your capacity
for that area of your businessor meet your priorities in that
area.
Also, you want to look at andoh my gosh, this is so important
(09:55):
.
Okay, this is so important.
So this actually changed mylife and caused was one of the
major causes that I made moremoney last year in my business
than ever before.
Jot this down.
If you're taking notes, jotthis down.
You want to look at what tasksyou are doing that someone could
(10:15):
either do better or that youneed to delegate so that you and
so you can free up time.
Now, listen, there are somethings that only you either do
better or that you need todelegate so you can free up time
.
Now, listen, there are somethings that only you can do and
there are other things thatanybody can do and do them well,
and it would free up your timeso that you can take care of
higher level or exclusive tasks.
Let me give you an example.
One of the things that I havefreed up it is a life changer
(10:41):
people is meal prep.
If one more person asks mewhat's for dinner, I'm going to
scream.
I know I am not alone in thisright, so I have someone who
preps meals.
Every week she sends out a menu.
I'm not her only client.
She sends out a menu.
We select what we want, shemakes it and delivers it.
It sits in my fridge or in myfreezer and when I'm ready I eat
(11:04):
it, and I'm a happy camper.
I know exactly what's in there,right?
There's two meatball subs, there's one chicken with rice
and string beans, there's orwhatever is in the in the
refrigerator or the freezer atthe time.
I don't have to worry about it,I don't have to allocate time,
(11:25):
I don't have to sit down andwrite out a complicated menu,
and I sure don't have to spendhours cooking it.
And we praise the Lord, hallelujah and amen.
Another thing that I did thisyear was I hired someone to help
me with household tasks.
Glory to God.
You know, the floors need to bemopped.
(11:47):
They don't need to be mopped byme.
Somebody needs to bring in thegroceries, it doesn't have to be
me.
Someone needs to organize mystorage room, but again, it
doesn't have to be me.
And maybe somebody does need towash and fold those towels.
But you guessed it, it does nothave to be me.
(12:07):
And I certainly don't have tobe the one who loads the
dishwasher.
And it is not that these tasksare beneath me Please don't
misunderstand me, beloved Please.
It's that I can better use mytime somewhere else, while
delegating these tasks tosomeone who is fully capable of
accomplishing them andaccomplishing them well.
And the irony of it is that hesaid to me recently he goes.
(12:31):
You know what I realized?
I realized it's not that youcan't do these things, it's that
you don't want to.
Exactly, I have freed up hoursof time every week that I can
now use to do money-makingactivities and also kingdom
impact activities, instead ofwashing dishes.
(12:53):
And guess what?
I'm also promoting andfinancing his business because I
have hired him.
I pay him a fee.
This helps him to now promotehis kingdom business, which is
like a concierge kind of servicewith wraparound services
Fabulous, that helps him tobuild his business.
(13:14):
And guess what?
We're keeping it in the kingdom.
That's more offerings andtithes into the kingdom, oh my
gosh.
And now I have time to recordthis podcast so that I can help
you to strategically plan andmake more money in your kingdom
business and impact more livesin your kingdom business.
(13:35):
Do you see how this works?
Oh my gosh.
And I hear some of you saying, well, that's great for you,
because you made more money lastyear than you made in your
business ever before, and blah, blah, blah.
I hear you saying that.
So let me address this.
What I am asking you to do isto do it on your level.
One of the things I want is aprivate shift, and another thing
I want is a household managerwho will live on my property and
(13:59):
oversee everything every billpay, every repair person,
keeping up with maintenancetasks, making sure that all the
things that need to be done aredone clean, make sure the
gutters are clean and all thatkind of stuff All those things I
now have to oversee.
So that's my plan long term.
I'm not there yet.
(14:20):
Income wise I'm not yet.
So I will do luxury andlifestyle on my level.
Luxury and lifestyle on mylevel.
When I was single parenting andI was.
If I told you how much I made ayear, you would be shocked and
stunned, shocked and stunned.
And I had two kids in privateschool, but I had a good God,
(14:42):
hallelujah.
I wouldn't have been able toafford this meal prep.
But what I did do the meal prepso that it took the questioning
away of what was going to befor dinner.
My children were at an agewhere you know what.
They could put something in themicrowave and heat it up
themselves.
They didn't need me to do that.
So every Saturday night orSunday after church, I would
(15:05):
make the meals for the week andthen all they had to do was go
in there and warm it up.
So that was lifestyle on mylevel at the time.
I am now at a place where I canpay someone to do the shopping,
do the cleanup, do the cookingand deliver it to my door,
deliver it right to my fridge, and guess what?
(15:26):
It's another kingdomentrepreneur.
So there's another business I'msupporting.
There's more income and impactinto the kingdom and she uses
the income from this to go onmedical missions trips.
She's a nurse, kelly, if you'relistening, I'm talking about
you Love missions trips.
She's a nurse, kelly, if you'relistening, I'm talking about
you.
Love you lots.
She's an RN, so she uses thisincome to fund her medical
(15:47):
mission trips, do you see?
So now she's helping me becausenow I have these meals, I'm
helping her to build her kingdombusiness and now she is giving
more kingdom impact because sheis out there doing medical
missions.
Luxury and lifestyle on yourlevel.
(16:07):
All right, I'm a proponent ofthat.
You'll hear more about that inanother episode as well.
Okay, so back to strategicplanning.
When you are planning annuallyor for whatever planning period
you're looking at, because Iwill tell you, corporations
don't just plan annually, theyplan three, four, five years
ahead, 10 years ahead.
So, whatever your planningperiod is, you want to map out
(16:30):
your quarterly outcomes withspecific milestones, so you'll
know if you're hitting them ornot, because you'll have to
track.
And then you want to reverseengineer from the end of that
planning period forward, right?
Isn't that what God does, right?
So God reverse engineeredeverything.
He knows exactly how everythingis going to end, and then he
(16:50):
just works forward and gives usall the steps in between to get
to that expected end, which isheaven.
My God, hallelujah, oh, my gosh, I am so excited.
Okay, so when we reverseengineer let's say your planning
period is for the year you wantto go into quarter four and say
, if your annual year is fromJanuary 1st to December 31st,
(17:13):
then you want to go to December31st, quarter four, and say
where do I want my business tobe?
What kind of impacts do I wantto have for the kingdom.
What kind of revenue, how manyunits, what do I want to
accomplish?
And then, each quarter, you aregoing to say what needs to
happen in this quarter for me tobe on track.
And then so, quarter three, what needs to happen?
(17:35):
And then look at quarter two, where do I need to be?
And then look at quarter onewhat do I need to start in order
to get there by quarter fourand accomplish all of those
things that I've reverseengineered?
Oh, this is exciting stuff,people.
Now here is another thing that alot of kingdom entrepreneurs do
(17:58):
not do and it is workingagainst us.
You know the word says that therain falls on the just and the
unjust right.
So it's not just them, it'salso us, right, and you know,
things can happen.
Stuff happens.
I need to do an episode aboutstuff happens.
But corporations take that intoconsideration by contingency
(18:20):
planning and they will oftenhave plan A, plan B, plan C,
plan D.
So if something goes wrong ordoesn't turn out the way they
expected, or the markets shiftor the politics change and
impact the business, they'vealready planned out how they're
going to respond.
So there's no knee-jerkreaction or emotional response,
because they've already plannedout.
What am I going to do?
(18:41):
What are we going to do as acorporation?
What are we going to do as anentity?
How are we going to respond ifXYZ doesn't turn out the way we
planned?
Our divine strategic advantageright?
(19:03):
We have a greater advantagethan the corporations do because
we have divine wisdom from God,who knows everything, to help
us to do this.
You will want to developmultiple scenarios for different
outcomes, and let me give you akey A lot of times, this stuff
won't even happen, but we havefears about what if?
What if?
What if?
What if?
What if?
I want you to develop a prayerstrategy for every what if you
(19:27):
come up with about your businessor even your life.
I want you to come up with.
Okay, so if, let's say, yourgoal is to make a thousand
dollars, what am I going to doif I only make 500?
Some of us don't start thebusiness because we're afraid of
(19:48):
the what ifs.
I am telling you get tocracking.
So what if?
Write down your strategy and itdoesn't need to be long, let's
take away all the what ifs.
I am telling you get tocracking.
So what if?
Write down your strategy and itdoesn't need to be long.
Let's take away all the whatifs.
Okay, you also want a strategyfor what happens if you exceed
your expectations.
Or what happens if God opens adoor you weren't expecting right
?
Are you going to be positionedto walk through it?
(20:11):
So many times we are praying forGod to do great and mighty
things to us, have deeperkingdom impacts, but we're not
prepared for them, we're notpositioned if they should happen
.
So we want to show God that wewant to position ourselves for
the greater.
Hallelujah, amen.
So when we're asking God inprayer and we get these
prophetic insights, or we get aword or we feel an unction, we
(20:33):
want to make sure that we'repositioning ourselves ahead of
time for those opportunities.
Oh, glory, all right.
So let's make this practical.
Let's make this practical.
Remember to start off withfasting and prayer.
This is not an option, myfriends.
This is going to give you thatsupernatural advantage and
(20:55):
access to wisdom and open upyour hearing and your
understanding.
You're going to get heavenlyhelp, hallelujah, you might as
well engage a heavenly help.
And then you want to schedulesome quiet time to have like a
strategic planning retreat byyourself.
I have to tell you, you know, tostart off, remember lifestyle
on your level.
To start off, you may justblock out a half day, kill every
(21:18):
distraction, put your phone on,do not disturb, close your door
, do not check your email, donot pass go, do not collect $200
.
Take that time as sacred.
Get away from your normalenvironment.
As you grow, you may want toplan a retreat, offsite right.
One of the things that myhusband and I do is we go away
(21:39):
and you can go away to somereally nice areas and do this
planning.
But to get away out of ournormal environment so that we
can get away from thedistractions of the normal day,
so that we can get away from thedistractions of the normal day.
Okay, you want to work throughall the things that I've talked
about systematically, and thisis not a full planning and
(22:02):
training yet.
These are just some of thethings I want you to think about
as you work through thisprocess.
You've got to keep in mind thatexcellent planning is going to
take time and intentional focus.
Time and intentional focus.
So don't rush the process.
You might get down some of thebasics in that half day session,
(22:23):
but you may need to tweak it.
Let me not say may, you willneed to tweak it.
I usually start strategicplanning for the next year.
Well, first of all, I have afive and a 10 year plan and then
the next year's plan.
I usually start in October lateOctober and I'm tweaking it all
the way through December.
By the time January 1st comes,it's already in motion.
(22:44):
Okay, you want to make surethat you incorporate regular
review points and adjustmentprotocols?
You want to schedule a regularreviews at regular intervals,
right?
That way you'll see if it'snecessary to make any
adjustments.
That said, it is a little Idon't want to say complicated,
(23:07):
but it is complex and there's alot of moving parts.
So I am having a planning dayand I want to invite all of you.
I am going to put the link inthe show notes and I'm so
excited because I'm going towalk you through it step by step
, even some of the things thatwe didn't have a chance to talk
about here on the podcast.
We're going to look at thesecorporate level techniques that
(23:30):
my multi-million dollar clientsuse, and I am going to make sure
that you get everything youneed to create a strategic plan
and your contingency plans atthe maximum level possible.
Again, if you haven't listenedto my episodes on how my
business made more money lastyear than ever before, as well
as the priority protocol.
Please go back and listen tothem before you start your
(23:53):
planning process.
Those episodes are going togive you the foundational
practical strategies that you'regoing to need to plan at this
level.
You also want to listen to partone before you start your
planning and then, if you needto come back and listen to part
two again, you need to save thisepisode because you're going to
need to refer to it.
And be sure, dear ones, be sureto look in the show notes,
(24:21):
because I'm going to have linksto everything Now.
You now have access to the sametechniques that I use with my
clients, and they've beenadapted, of course, specifically
for us as kingdom entrepreneurs, and if this episode blessed
you, please share it.
Share it with another kingdomentrepreneur.
Make sure that you subscribe toour YouTube channel so that you
(24:43):
don't miss a thing.
Until next time, staywonderfully blessed and
positioned.
Bye now.
