I'm tired.
Carey (02:07):
Okay.
I'm not ready.
I still have videos to puttogether.
I still have editing to do.
I don't even know the scheduleyet.
Jennifer (02:18):
And I'm going to have
it for you tonight.
Carey (02:20):
Awesome.
This week, guys, we're puttingtogether.
Everything for your ultimatenerdy Saturday.
Jennifer (02:30):
Yes.
Carey (02:31):
You got Valentine's Day
coming Friday, which I hope this
is not your reminder.
And Saturday, kicking off at 8.
30 Central Time, Coil Mania.
So You know, we, this is hugebecause okay.
(02:52):
If you look at some of ourpodcasts that we've done in the
past, we've talked about what ifI wanted to start to raise
quail, I was like, what a yearago We've talked about feed
quality, pecking order.
We've talked about incubatinghatching eggs, but these people
(03:13):
that we have selected and workedwith to do these specialized
videos, they're, they, I wouldcompare, but some of them.
That may be a bit nerdy.
You may bring up the screen.
Jennifer (03:32):
You can, but I want to
just tell everybody that this
was David's brainchild.
He has been after me for acouple of years to do something
called Quail Mania, and itfinally all came together.
So I think it's still playing atthe beginning of each podcast.
The ooh, yeah, that's David'svoice.
(03:54):
That's his contribution to QuailMania.
Carey (03:56):
And actually.
I've got it set up where atrandom points.
Jennifer (04:01):
I'm serious.
Carey (04:02):
Yeah, like random points.
It just does it.
So you can be listening to ustalk and then you hear that and
then it picks right back up.
Jennifer (04:14):
That's my David.
He just.
He just comes up with thesekooky ideas that somehow I
managed to make happen.
I don't know why.
Carey (04:22):
So
Jennifer (04:23):
I'm going to tell you
right now,
Carey (04:24):
I've have seen some of
the stuff that he's done in his
shop and he makes sure kookyideas come up.
He's built some pretty nicestuff.
Jennifer (04:35):
It works.
So he was the originator of theQuill Mania.
And in order to get this thingoff the ground, it needed a
website.
So I had to learn web designreally quickly.
So I think all the informationyou need is on poultry nerds
podcast.
com.
I tried to get it all on there.
Carey (04:55):
Yeah.
You can go there and listen toepisodes of podcasts.
We've got a library that we putin some articles that we found
about all kinds of stuff.
Some of them are articles thathave been written by Rip
Stalvey, who being a lot ofpeople's opinion is like a
poultry royalty.
(05:17):
He really hates that though.
He is he is probably one of themost humble people.
that I've met, even though hehas forgotten more than most
people know about poultry.
Jennifer (05:30):
Yeah.
Carey (05:31):
And it ain't much
because, even though he's not as
young, he's not a springchicken, he is still sharper
than a tack.
But if you go there, Topoultrynerdspodcast.
com, right at the top, you canclick on Quail Mania 2025.
If you're unlucky and you don'tfind this podcast until
(05:55):
afterwards, we're going to leavethis page up because we're going
to tease you for 2026.
Jennifer (06:02):
Yeah, we are.
We're going to do it again.
Carey (06:04):
But on here, this talks
about all the stuff that you're
going to get how to incubateeggs successfully.
We have on their Terry from toturn its corner who, he goes
through building an incubator,
Jennifer (06:22):
What?
We forgot to tell everybody.
It's not just going to be ustalking all day.
We have 11 or 12 speakers pulledtogether from different areas.
Carey (06:31):
I don't know.
I'm from Alabama.
My math's not that great, butit's a bunch of them.
So we, but we have that.
We have how to set up a brooderCraig beam from beam farm, LLC.
Jennifer (06:44):
He
Carey (06:44):
broods a lot Christian
from Undique, he's going to be
on there talking about some ofthe most awkward ways.
That you can be very profitablewith quail.
Jennifer (06:57):
He squeezes it out,
every feather.
Carey (07:01):
Yeah.
It's a thing.
Jennifer (07:03):
It's amazing.
Carey (07:04):
Yes, it is.
We also have somebody that isgoing to talk about Katie.
She's going to be talking aboutthe nutritional value of quail
to a person.
A lot of people, right nowpeople are starting to think
about eating clean food andbeing healthy and doing all this
stuff.
(07:25):
How can I get startedhomesteading and growing all my
food?
Co op cages are three feet wideand like me, me tall, six feet
tall.
And in there you can put 50.
A hundred and fifty quail, giveor take in those five racks.
So with that, you can have quailat all stages of life, laying
(07:48):
you eggs to eat.
All that stuff.
And she talks about the benefitsof that.
A lot of really good stuff.
Let's see.
We're going to talk about the Gword.
We're going to talk aboutgenetics.
We've got that in here.
Um, just so you can see, we'regoing to scroll through this
(08:11):
page.
What's inside that that nobodycares about the host today.
Here's the speakers.
Let me see if I can get all ofthem on the screen.
I don't care about the bottomleft, but we've got Bree from
Pips and Chicks, AlexandriaDawes from Stellar Gamebirds,
Christian from Undique.
(08:33):
Leah from Southern Biophiliac.
I always feel like I'm going tomess that name up every time I
say it.
The legendary Terry fromCoturnix Corner.
Rebecca from Thieving Otter Farmis going to talk about colors
and oddities in quail.
Craig is right there from BeamFarm.
(08:54):
Jennifer, she's going to tellyou everything you need to know
about starting a quail shippingbusiness.
If y'all don't know, she ships acouple eggs a year, a few.
Katherine Hyde, she's the onethat's going to talk to you
about The, how the quail workfor y'all and look, she is from
(09:19):
the University of Tennesseenutrition department.
So she really knows who else dowe have?
There's Mandy right there fromthe quail barn.
And she's going to talk aboutone of my favorite things.
I'm not going to try them, eventhough I will do stuff for
science.
That is not one of them.
(09:43):
I love Asian food, but that'swhen I'm going to let them keep.
Jennifer (09:47):
I think she and her
husband tried them on her
YouTube channel.
We should check that out.
Carey (09:57):
But I will say Balut is
something that the Asian
community loves.
Yes.
And they regard it veryseriously and they look for it
because stuff like that remindsthem of home.
And if you've ever been awayfrom home for a long time,
(10:17):
finding something that remindsyou of home is a really cool
thing.
Jennifer (10:23):
And it's really cool
that we can make a business out
of it with our Quail.
Carey (10:27):
Yeah.
And that's what she's
Jennifer (10:28):
going to tell us.
Carey (10:29):
Yep, she's going to tell
you how to do that.
All of these people are going totell you what about quail that
you can do to be successfulwhether it's on the homestead,
as a business, or if you justwant to have a really good
garden.
We got ones, they're gonna tellyou what to do with a poop.
(10:50):
So it covers everything, andthere's, like we said, there's a
lot of people that want to getstarted in quail.
They want to do something withquail.
They want to do something on ahomestead, because that's a
thing, man.
Good eggs that are like organicor, you, they're expensive.
Jennifer (11:11):
And this year, eggs,
there's an egg shortage.
And I saw on the news thismorning.
That it could take a year toreplace all those layers and get
the eggs back to a regularsupply on the shelves.
So people need to remember thatwe can be self sufficient.
Carey (11:28):
You can do it.
Jennifer (11:30):
Yeah.
Quail do not take up a lot ofspace and they're a great
alternative if you cannot havechickens.
Carey (11:35):
So there's a lady that my
wife works with that lives in an
apartment style townhouse.
In the Birmingham area and theyhave strict HOA and she wanted
some quail because she likedquail eggs.
(11:55):
So she set her up a cage on herback porch and I got her a bunch
of hens and now she gets all thefresh quail eggs that she wants.
And nobody knows.
She lives in a townhouseapartment.
So anybody can do it.
Jennifer (12:14):
Yeah.
Yeah.
Anybody can have quail.
You could just have the hens.
The hens are the quieter ones.
Sometimes you'll get a chatter.
There's always a girl that wantsto talk, right?
But for the most part, yourneighbors would never know that
you have quail.
Carey (12:29):
And we do have to say
that We did not put this
together by ourselves.
We had some help from somesponsors.
Kalmbach, EggFoam.com,Championsblend.com,
BryantsRoost.com,DoubleRFarmAL.com all threw in.
We also had a couple otherpeople like Valley Hatchery.
(12:55):
So if y'all see those names outthere, be like, Hey, they helped
put all this together.
They help bring the informationto y'all.
So yeah, and we're going tooffer the upgraded ticket.
How long are we going to dothat?
What did we decide?
I don't know.
It happened another
Jennifer (13:13):
week, another week.
Carey (13:15):
Yeah, we'll give y'all
another week to get that.
And like I said, the, thesepeople that are offering these
coupons.
There's anything from a 10percent to 100 percent coupon.
Jennifer (13:26):
Yes,
Carey (13:27):
people have free ebooks
or ebooks for the upgraded
ticket holders that really deepdive into their presentation and
some other things that they workon.
If you want more information, you need to check that out.
Jennifer (13:43):
Yes, we need to
support the breeders, especially
since they took their time outof their day.
Going into this busy season toget these videos together for
you guys.
We appreciate your support inhelping pull it all together
too, and your interest, and wewant it to grow every year, and
(14:05):
become more useful for everybodywanting to get started in Quail,
and bring some unity andcommunity feeling to the Quail
world.
That's all we wanted to do.
Carey (14:18):
And that sounds awesome,
because, I took my wife to a
poultry show type convention afew weeks ago, and she did not
realize how tight knit.
She said that was, it was like afamily reunion where people
actually got along, and that wasa passion poultry, because
(14:41):
that's one thing that I do.
But we wanted to bring that tothe quail world because at the
end of the day, we're all herefor the same reason, that little
bird that makes that funnylittle noise that tastes so
good.
Jennifer (14:58):
Yeah.
Carey (14:58):
Y'all be sure to tune in
Saturday morning kicks off at

about stuff that we can't do iton Facebook or YouTube because
they like to censor stuff andwe're talking about the whole
part of the quail and how toutilize it on your homestead.
(15:50):
So
Jennifer (15:51):
we also have a
Facebook group set up where you
can be in there during thisduring the talks and ask the
speakers more questions.

there throughout the day.
