(00:39):
Hey Poultry Nerds.
We are back today and I'm goingto do a video'cause Carey's not
here to do what he said, what henormally does, which is start
all of the electronic stuff.
hopefully I do it right.
But we are, well, I'm here withChristian from.
Are we just gonna be from QuailOs today, or are we gonna be

(01:01):
from all your company names?
It's, I'm a entrepreneur alittle bit.
But Quail West is the productfrom we, I always call it un un
What?
I, now you say it and I forgotHow I always tell David about
it, is what I say.
So we are here with Christianfrom UN or un, is that how you

(01:22):
say, an Austrian?
it's Latin.
Or UN is the English version.
It means from all sites.
From all directions.
Right?
Okay.
that's, that's the meaningbehind that name.
And the reason why is because,we ship, for example, X from
all, all directions, right?
that's the name of my company, five Years in Business.
And thanks for having me today,Jennifer.
Well, you're welcome.

(01:43):
we actually got to meet inperson not too long ago.
And you kind of are from alldirections too.
You've been everywhere.
Thank you so much that I couldstop with my camper on my way to
Texas and back.
That was very nice to meet inperson as well.
And yes, I, I like to be in manydirections As you mentioned
earlier on, I'm, I'm originallyfrom Austria.

(02:03):
I live now in New Jersey.
I used to live in Ireland for acouple of years, so it's kind of
in my DNA.
My family is all around theglobe as well, so it's kind of
in my DNA and that's why I namedmy company as well, from all
sites, from all directions.
So you're, you're kind of nerdy,Oh yeah.
I'm gonna give that as acompliment.
but you're like computer nerdy.

(02:26):
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Ever since my brother bought acomputer, I, I guess you can
call it a computer in 1990, soI'm aging myself a little bit.
I am, a little bit of a computernerd.
So yeah, I learned how to codewhen I was 10 years old, and
I've ever since worked in the ITcomputer industry until I

(02:47):
created my own company fiveyears ago.
Yeah.
I'm a bit of a nerd, poultrynerd, kind of the, the, the
format is perfect for me.
Yep.
And, and so now you've movedfrom just selling eating eggs
and hatching eggs to creatingthis app that you That's right.
a whole big app.

(03:08):
I thought I was doingspectacular with website stuff.
And, and you've created thiswhole thing.
It's a whole ecosystem, a whole,yeah.
app for your Android phone.
You can install it there on youriPhone.
You can install it, but the coolthing is you can use it on the
computer as well.
And the reason why I created itwas when I started with my quail

(03:29):
business, there was no specificsoftware around for.
Quail or, but also in poultry ingeneral, where you can do
business related stuff, right?
see if you're actuallyprofitable, write an invoice to
a customer, to shipping.
I wanted something where you cando it all in one thing to manage
your flock, to track yourhatches, all the different

(03:52):
things.
What we do in our business.
When I started five years ago,I, I needed an accounting
software.
I needed a shipping software.
I needed.
spreadsheets to kind of track myhatches and my production of the
eggs, or the dog treats what Imake.
I use, and even until now, Ilose, I use still a lot of
different software packages torun my business and I figured,

(04:15):
if somebody starts out new now,it would be nice to have
something which does everythingin in one.
One app, it is a web app, what Icoded here.
And I wanna help other farms tostreamline their business, to
give them tools at their hands, which are just making their
lives a little bit easier.
'cause I know a computer stuff, building websites is one thing,

(04:37):
but then, having a actual systemin place where you can write
invoices, track your expenses, all that stuff, which comes with
running a business.
that's the tricky thing.
I figured, okay.
I built something for myself inthe, in the background.
And now what I, what I have doneand used for the last five
years, I bring it now to thepeople, that they can have a bit
easier start compared than howit was for me five years ago.

(05:01):
So you said it would invoicealso.
You can write invoices with itand things like that.
I you a little tour of what itdoes.
we have it here on the screen soit can do a ton of things and
it's really, really easy to use.
step one is that you sign up forit and if you already sign up,
step two is just to sign in andthen the system loads up and
then you can do a lot ofdifferent things.

(05:24):
is it free to sign up?
The signup is for free.
And I wanna keep it for free, the basic functionality, but
obviously for certain functionsfunctionality, I need to charge
money because it costs me moneytoo, right?
For example, you can createshipping labels in the system,
so obviously you have to pay forthe shipping labels, right?

(05:46):
If you want to get better rateson your shipping la uh, labels,
then you need to upgrade to adifferent farm tier.
But compared to all the toolsI'm using in business, the
pricing is actually prettymoderate.
And, uh, we are looking activelyright a sponsor as well to make
sure we can keep it freeforever.
tier.
So all those functions we seehere on the left in the main

(06:07):
area to track your eggproduction, uh, where you can
log much you collect your hedgetracking bird inventory, and on
all those.
For free.
And we'll stay for free.
And yeah.
So under, it doesn't everythingyou do daily business Under bird
inventory.
Can you separate it by color?

(06:28):
Oh, yes, you can.
And uh, so I've, right now inthis tracking here, I only have
in here.
But I could add a batch and say, okay, I have fears.
I'm Egyptian.
I recently hatched some Egyptianfrom somebody I know.
Great hatch rate.
Thank you for that.
I can, but what is cool, I canalso put in an estimate for the
daily food consumption.

(06:49):
because it, the system can warnyou when you run out of food and
it happens.
I think it happened to all of usat some stage that we were run
running low on food.
For the eighties.
I can also put in which locationthey're in, so I keep a bit
organized and we have heredifferent statuses as well in
case I sell them later, or Ihave them processed, I can
retire them in here.

(07:09):
But for now, those birds, forexample, are alive and let's
assume they hatch today, forexample.
So I can put that here in thesystem and then it tracks their
age.
And I really, that's the mainquestion everybody has, how many
birds you got, right?
some people lose track of it alittle bit.
With this, you don't lose trackof it anymore, how many birds
you have to feed.

(07:30):
And then if you put in your feedinventory, you keep basically,
track on how much feed you buy.
And you can basically, see herein the feed management and
forecasting.
How many days of feed you haveremaining, so that helped.
That's neat.
And based on that, in the nextversion, I probably might make a
reminder which pops up on yourscreen, Hey, you're running low.

(07:51):
You should, head to the storenow the local feed dealer of
your choice.
And, get some more.
if we inputted how much feed Igo through, it might break your
app.
Let's try.
I test, I tested it here for afew thousand pounds, so we do
have space here.
Okay, good.
Because I was gonna say 50pounds, man, that's that's.

(08:13):
A third of what I use in a day.
That's probably what you got ina day.
And, that's the cool thing aboutthe system.
It grows with you.
if somebody's watching right nowand you order their first dozen
of hatching eggs, I started fiveyears ago, right?
I hatched out 12 eggs, had a 50%hatch rate.
it's for those people, but it'salso for those people who have

(08:34):
thousands of birds.
you can manage small and big, Ithas all the tools in there.
for me it's for example, interesting the time tracking to
see how much time I spent on,processing the birds or doing
maintenance and things likethat.
So I can, add a time lock.
You can do that on your mobilephone as well.
So the same you see here, I canbring up here my mobile phone.

(08:56):
let me check if it pops up onscreen.
Oh, it does.
So once you have it, installedon your phone.
The basic functions then areavailable there.
Let me just, too many apps, but, there's a app for everything and
now there's a app where you canmanage your block, but also keep
track of what you're doing.
And here, Qualo has installed onthe actual, mobile phone.

(09:19):
Looks good as well, A little biton a small screen, but the basic
functions are here too.
And if I just quickly wanna, logx, I click in here and say,
okay.
I just collected now 20 XA hugeamount.
why not?
I can make notes and say, oh, itwas freezing today, so it's
probably just gonna be freezinghere in Jersey.

(09:41):
that's it.
Here we go.
Ah, okay.
Sorry.
When you control your mobilephone from your computer, it's
sometimes a little messy, buthere it's Yes.
Yeah.
It has a, a ton of functionalitybuilt in.
what I like is that you can haveyour customers in here as well.
my customer list here is huge,as you can tell.
But the cool thing is if youwant an option to quickly

(10:03):
contact your customer, we dohave a text messaging model.
And so if you have the phonenumber of your customer in here,
you have this little bubble.
If you enable the textmessaging, because a lot of
people who start out of quail.
They might not have a separatenumber for their business.
I like to keep private andbusiness separate, I, this

(10:24):
number in here is not my privatenumber, that's my business
number, And so you could alsosign up and get your own
business number, and then youcan send text messages right
here from the app as well, andsay, okay, hey, got extracts,
want some, or whatever it mightbe, Something.
You want to quickly contact thecustomer about it.
if your shipment is delayedbecause you're still waiting for

(10:45):
X or whatever it might be, youcan just do it right out of the
app here to a single customer.
But you also have the optionthat you have that synchronized
and you have a distribution listso you can send a hundred text
messages to your customer.
The reason why I put in textmessages is.
There's not really a spam filterfor text messages other than on

(11:59):
your mobile phone operatorlevel.
text messages are usually seenby, by people much quicker than
emails because who is checkingtheir email all the time.
But if you get a text message toyour mobile phone, you might see
quicker.
So it also has a bit ofmarketing tools filled in here.
So we all, we all have thatevery once in a while we sit on
a ton of eggs.

(12:20):
So wouldn't it be great to havea quick functionality to contact
your main customers for eatingeggs and just, very quickly send
out a couple of text messageswith, instead of doing that on
your phone, you can do it fromyour business number right here
in interface and it helps you toget your X sold, for example.
Can you segment your list, yourcustomer list there?

(12:41):
Yeah, that's possible in thetext messaging application.
That one is actually reallypowerful.
I would need another, at leasthalf an hour, hour just to show
that what that can do.
but it's integrated here aswell, so yes, you have a ton of
different functionalities there.
Gotcha.
It even has birthday remindersand things like that.
Yeah.
The cool thing is, if you thinkabout it, you start out a

(13:02):
business and let's say you getyour first customer and it's
like a little store down theroad.
You sell them meeting X everyweek and they say, I need an
invoice.
So now you need a software whichcan do invoices, right?
So that's why we have the salesorders in here.
I can quickly create a new salesorder.
I select my customer.
I have so many in here.

(13:24):
I put in the items from myinventory.
Let's say I sell those guys somewhole birds.
It has the option here for taxand shipping and all that.
And I can say, is it alreadycompleted?
Is it not completed?
Hands on.
I can save that order and I caninstantly print that, out here
as well.
So this one I just did that.

(13:44):
Click the print button.
And then with your actual farm'slogo and your address, you have
an invoice ready for thatcustomer.
So it's very easy as well.
And you can keep track.
Did they pay you already or isit still open?
So very, very easy, for a farmto quickly make an invoice for
one of their customers.
Right?
Does it take money?

(14:05):
it doesn't do repayment yet.
But that's something we, we, I'mthinking about, integrating in
the future as well that you cantake payments right on Qualo as
well.
Yeah.
And most people have Venmo orhave other options, but
definitely the cool thing aboutQualo, it's community driven.
So if, any of the.
People using the applicationhave a great idea.

(14:28):
They can submit the idea and, Ilook at it and if it's a good
idea, then we're gonna do it.
So that's done.
Actually down here we have aroadmap, and that roadmap is
not, for my yearly camping tripsin the summertime where I like
to visit other farms.
But road map is, 40, ideas whatpeople have.

(14:48):
Bring up and you see there'ssome ideas, for example, text
messaging for hatch reminderseither for yourself or for your
customers, shipping integrationsfor your online store, For
example.
All kinds of, different options.
And here I publicly show whatpeople have submitted.
And in what stage it is.
And, if you have a great idea, you can go on help and support

(15:11):
and request a feature in here.
So if you, that's the cool thingas well because, there's of
course a lot of apps out thereyou can do, manage your flock or
there's apps out there forshipping and there's apps out
there for accounting.
But to have everything in oneapp, that's pretty cool because
you don't have multiple apps tomanage.

(15:31):
You can do all in one, in oneapplication.
So that's keeps it neat, simple, and if you need help, you just
open up a support ticket and,get back to you and help you out
if you have a question about theapplication or anything like
that, That's a very simplesystem.
I think, the navigation, I wantto keep it clean because I've
seen a lot of apps in the past.

(15:52):
I don't like it that things aresometimes so small on the screen
that you barely can read it.
Yes, you could zoom in here ifyou wanted to, if you want it
even bigger.
but the cool thing is yes, youuse it on your phone, you use it
on your tablet, you use it onyour computer, so it always
keeps the same data on yourfingertips and it gets really
cool if it comes to shipping.

(16:13):
So it's just gonna switch overto my test environment here and,
has a ton of functionality.
But the shipping is really coolbecause it has something
absolutely new, nobody.
Has that yet.
I came up with it by talking topeople and based on my own
experiences, and I'm gonna showyou real quick what it does.
So once you have a customer inyour system, you have the option

(16:36):
to select a customer in here, and then you prepare your
shipping like you do in anyother shipping app, right?
But what you can do before youeven create a label or look at
the rates, you can do a riskcheck on that specific address.
And we all had our, issues inthe past.
If you think about, certainpeople buying on eBay or other

(17:00):
platforms, I had a few peopletrying to scam me.
And so this risk assessmentbasically is community driven
and you can maintain a list, which is a good ag or a bad ag
list, right?
And so you can on every address,do such a check.
we won't have data of everysingle address, obviously, but

(17:23):
what it does here, it shows youif any other farm using the
system, had a bad experiencewith that buyer.
Right?
For example, a chargeback, ifyou think about it, a chargeback
on the online store costs youabout 45,$50.
If somebody.
It says, for whatever reason,oh, I only got a 50% hatch rate.
I go, I'm not gonna pay you.
I want, call my credit cardcompany and want the money back.

(17:46):
Right?
We don't like that very much.
I guess anybody selling actdoesn't really like things like
that.
And so with the risk assessment, you can access and see is this a
good buyer or is it a bad buyer,or is it a neutral?
Right?
Can be neutral as well.
So in this case, let's say it'sgood.

(18:06):
Let's see, if I change myaddress here to another house,
number 13, very unlucky number, and I do the, again, that
unlucky number really showsuhoh.
this guy here at this address isactually listed in my own farm
as a bad act, and two otherfarms listed it as a bad egg as
well.

(18:26):
So I might think twice if I shipsomething to those guys or not,
because if two other farmsalready said, oh, that that
buyer.
Be careful.
It could be that their mailingaddress was not available.
I had that couple of times.
It's always nice, especially inthe summertime, summer or
springtime, if you send out somehatching acts, they go to the

(18:47):
destination and then they comeall the way back and then they
stink up your mailbox becausethey travel twice the distance
and, we're not, Delivered ontime because the address was
completely wrong.
What the customer gave youhappened to me multiple times.
So now I can add that addressinto my risk management tab
here, and then it's warning methe next time across all my

(19:09):
different online stores.
Right.
So do you do that in thecustomer profile?
You mark'em as good or bad?
Yeah, it's, pretty easy.
I show you over here and therisk management tab, it lets you
decide.
If you wanna share it with thecommunity or not.
And you have here your good exand you have your bad ex, right?

(19:31):
so if you decide to share it,it's anonymously.
So obviously we won't tell theother firm that it's
specifically on your list.
Right.
Right.
Christmas is coming up, right?
So it's a little bit like, youknow, he's making a list and he
checks it twice and you can dothe same.
so if you get on the bad centrallist, you can just add an

(19:51):
address in here, with the zipcode.
So we don't really store anypersonal data.
We just, store public data, which is an address, right?
you can do that here for yourown farm.
You can import your customers tothe good at list.
So that you don't have to enterthem all manually.
You can just pull them in fromyour customer tab and you can
decide to share that with otherfarms.

(20:12):
So you help protecting otherbusinesses as well, and you
benefit from the other farmssharing the bad eggs with you as
well.
Right?
There's Facebook groups who dothis kind of stuff, but let's
face it, who has time to look atFacebook when before you ship a
order, if there's anybody listedas a bad egg?
not so easy.
So here you can, Manage that foryour own farm, but you have the

(20:35):
option to share it.
And of course, as more farms dothat as safer the system gets,
right?
So very new function.
I think that's pretty neat.
I mean, most breeders or sellershave their.
Ways of keeping up with goodeggs or bad eggs.
Mm-hmm.
I think we all, some of us havelonger lists than others.

(20:55):
Mine isn't very long because Ihave a short memory, but Yeah.
Yeah, yeah.
that's pretty nifty.
Okay.
Go back to your shipping thing.
Yeah.
So your shipping rates.
Let's talk about your shippingrates.
Sure.
I just put in a, Any addressright now, I just put in one of
a friend.
the shipping rates, it's prettystraightforward.
You can, click here, get rates, and you see the actual rates for

(21:17):
that specific package here.
what was really cool as well, before we get to the rates, is,
the destination weather.
That's something also, which isgonna be released this week.
So what you see now, you're thefirst to see that.
That's, and I believe this isthe first shipping software who
actually considers the weather.
And I get that from, thenational, Noah.

(21:39):
from proper people who know how, hopefully know how the weather
is gonna be.
you have here a seven dayforecast at the time of
shipping.
So that's great when you do livebird shipping, but also for
hatching X, you wanna check, okay, is it gonna be freezing at
the destination when I ship itout?
Texas here, for example, itlooks good.

(22:01):
It's not gonna be freezing.
Okay.
I ship it out and those rates, they are pull, pulled in
automatically from the shippingcarrier.
I still have to negotiate withone of them, but right now we
have, USPS and UPS in there.
FedEx will be added as well.
And then you select here thebest rate, you wanna have for
that specific package.

(22:21):
Right?
you can look at our rate cardhere and, we have it here as
well.
So there, it shows you all the,and sorry, this is the test
system right now, so it mightnot show everything right now,
but it'll show you all the zoneshere.
there's only a couple ofshipping zone overall, and with
the weight.
And then, you can go down or youcan select Here, show me only

(22:44):
priority mail, for example.
And if there is a change ofshipping rates the postal
service likes to do twice ayear, this will update
automatically as well.
Yeah, and depend on your farmtier.
you are Bronze Farm.
Silver, gold, or diamond thatdecides on your shipping rate,
you get, you can, preview ithere, so we'll see.

(23:04):
Okay.
If you, you're willing to pay asmall monthly fee and you get
better shipping rates, so it'sgreat for farms when they grow,
that they can say, okay, I startoff as a free farm.
I don't pay any monthly fees.
I just pay when I need theshipping label.
That's it.
But then once you, your businessgrows, you can upgrade and get
better shipping, rates here aswell.

(23:26):
And yeah, it's straightforwardand then you just, create your
label in here and that's it.
So if I go back here to myshipping screen, there's a
little ship.
Pull it up one more time.
I just make a funny packagethere.
nice.
Here is not good.
Here we go.
So you check your rates, youneed to have a shipping balance.
So I already have a balance inhere.

(23:48):
You could top it up here.
So this is a paid function, obviously, because the labels
need to get paid.
I can buy that label now.
Really, I wanted to keep thescreen clean as well, because
there's a lot of shippingsoftware out there where it's
very complicated to use it.
And I wanted to keep it simple.
So here's now my label.
Obviously that's a sample here, but I could print it then

(24:11):
straight away on my labelprinter has your address on it
and all done.
And then it actually saves itdown here as well.
So in case you made a mistakeand you need to void that label,
you can do it.
another thing is we actuallysave the weather data.
know exactly.
Okay.
How was the weather forecast atthe time when you ship that?

(24:32):
Okay, this one was gettingpretty cold here.
Okay.
So you have that informationlater on as well in case the
customer comes back to you witha complaint or anything, you can
look it up how the weather wasat their address.
And another cool functionalityis that you can send the
tracking number, if you have thetext messaging enabled here, you
can send that tracking numberstraight to the mobile phone of

(24:55):
your customer.
So it's not doing an email likeeverybody does.
It actually sends a text messagebecause I get a lot of emails
every day.
I try to read them all, but somemight fall through the cracks.
But if I get a text message, Iusually read it straight away.
And so this click the button andif I would have not a little
issue what I'm fixing right nowhere in this environment, it

(25:17):
would send the message.
But that's how it is on my testenvironment.
So yeah, a lot of functionalitybuilding and can, yeah.
Can I import from my website toprint the label there?
That's something I'm developingright now.
right now I do eBay, I doShopify and then there will be.
All those other shop systems,Etsy and Wix and Square.

(25:42):
So that's all needs to bedeveloped, but the look and feel
will be very similar as it ishere.
Obviously, you're gonna justselect, one of your online
orders, right?
So we have, it's already indevelopment right now, and it
will be updated into the actualsoftware in the next couple of
weeks.
I, I never released somethingwhere I'm not a hundred percent

(26:04):
sure it's working.
So I test it first myself, havesome other people testing it,
and then it's being released foreverybody.
And so the, the system isactively being developed.
So that's a nice thing as wellbecause a lot of those apps you
find online, nobody's doing withit.
the developer kind of gave upand doesn't really improve the

(26:25):
system anymore.
So this is always growing and Irelease it now with the basic
functionality.
But obviously heavy duty userslike you who have different
online stores and all that.
If you wanna be able toconfigure that and have a smooth
kind of, transition, maybe putyour existing shipping software
to the curb.

(26:45):
so that's being developed rightnow.
it's not, not ready yet to show.
So another thing that I do thatSome people won't even realize
it's done, is I use.
A lot of different shipped fromaddresses.
Some things are shipped from me,some things are shipped from
Brian's roost, from egg foam, from just whatever.

(27:08):
So can I do multiple shippedfrom addresses?
Yeah.
That will be possible as well.
Okay.
right now with the basic, settings you have just this, in
the settings.
You can configure this one inhere, but, on the roadmap, we
already have something.
Which is allowing multiple farmaddresses, but also I wanna

(27:31):
foster the cooperation betweenfarms.
And as, as you know, with Unica,I have a network of farms and,
where we help each other out aswell.
Or basically, Unica acts kind ofthe, the hub and many farms are
shipping eggs for un.
So we have right now 14different ship from addresses,
right?
Because, the way we do it iswhen we get an order on Amazon

(27:53):
or any other platform, then welook, are these eggs available
somehow close to the customer?
And based on that, we choosewhich farm is shipping it and
which ship from address we areusing.
Right now, I'm using a differentsoftware for that.
Then I pay$140 a month for that.
Without even being, without evenmaking a single label, I pay$140

(28:14):
with that software.
So obviously my goal is to, oneof the first things I wanna do
now is to replace that software.
So it will come in here as well, that you can have multiple ship,
addresses.
but you also have the option tosay, okay, I wanna assign this
order now to a different farmbecause I don't have this kind
of acts, but.
we do work together andbasically it's a little bit like

(28:36):
drop shipping.
Mm-hmm.
We'll have that functionalitybuilt in as well.
Yeah.
Well, I have two things thatI've noticed while you were
talking.
Mm-hmm.
And one is, first of all, thankyou because, it's nice to
support other farms versus justbig conglomerates.
Mm-hmm.
And second of all, for peoplejust getting started, me and you

(29:01):
have the wisdom of several yearsof growing and growing in a way
that the Indus, the computerindustry isn't really built for,
almost have to push through to adegree and.
For somebody just gettingstarted, this sounds like it
would grow with them versus ushaving to piecemeal we've been

(29:24):
doing for several years.
Exactly.
Yeah, that's the thing.
I wasted so much money ondifferent software, packages in
the past because Okay, I want, you do QuickBooks for accounting
and then you do the shippingsoftware and then you do.
some other tracking stuff allthose subscriptions they add up,

(29:45):
even now till today, I stillhave a few left and I, as I
develop more in qualo SI canreplace these solutions instead
of paying several hundreddollars month.
Just for the software I need torun my business.
it's only at your fingertips.
Exactly.
I wrote about that in my book, which I released now as well,
which is in here, in thelibrary.

(30:07):
And all this wisdom is coming inhere now as well with different
guides and things like that inthe library so people can read
things.
We, I will have different usecases.
Know, how do I sell Balut X, forexample?
I have sold them, I've sold themeven online.
I still do that, or a little howto videos, but it's not really

(30:29):
aimed at, very new beginners.
any, anybody who is already,After that stage, okay, I've
hatched my first X, now I wannaput that into a business.
What is next?
And something which happened forme in the beginning as well was
I was flying totally blind, AndI did not know, do I actually
make any money with this?

(30:49):
When I first started, I wasokay.
I, I just wanted to have someeggs for myself, and then it was
growing into a business.
I, I was not setting out buyingquail eggs to do a quail
business.
This I gotcha.
I understand.
We, we, we should have a therapygroup for people who
accidentally ended up with aquail business, I guess.

(31:10):
Exactly.
and one of my first challengeswas to prove to my wife that we
actually make money with that, because she is are you, are you.
it was kind of a conversationare you insane?
You are leaving your IT chop tomake money with Qua X.
Yep.
And we had that conversationthree years ago and I was yeah,
that's exactly what I'm doing.
I wish I would've had somethinglike this reporting, feature

(31:33):
here where I can actually showthe numbers.
Okay.
How many, how much?
Sales we had, how many expensesI had obviously in this demo
account here, it looks a bit notthat great right now here.
but I wanna be able to tell, okay, how many eggs I gonna get
over the next couple of days.
I actually built in aforecasting as well, So you can

(31:54):
say, okay, based on the eggs Icollected in the last 12 weeks,
I wanna have a forecast how manyeggs I gonna collect next week.
So it, it has this prediction inhere as well and all this
reporting.
Or if I wanna see how is myhatching going this year so far?
I can look at all the hatches Ihad this year and see them here

(32:15):
in comparison.
Obviously, again, this is notreal data because I hatched a
few more times than just twotimes here or three times here.
But you get the idea, with the, with the demo data in installed,
or you said earlier on, how muchfeed did I actually use?
It shows you here as well, Howmuch feet was used in that
specific timeframe.
If you track that, if you'reinterested, or how much sales do

(32:38):
I have and all these things.
even if you are, start out as ahobby and your husband or your
wife and, whatever the.
You wanna prove to the otherside?
Yeah.
Look, we make money with quail.
Here is the numbers because youentered everything.
Each time you spent some money, each time you made some money,
you put it in there and thenit's at your fingertips.
And you can say, yeah, weactually do make some money on

(33:00):
this.
And over time it tells you, okay, what is my top product,
for example, right?
So a lot of, options in here.
For me, it's important.
How much time do I spend on it?
For example, I see.
I spend a lot of time withfeeding, maybe not as, not as
much time on, on actuallycleaning.
Maybe I should be the other wayaround.
I look out there, maybe itshould.

(33:20):
so it's just, helping people.
Once they get started or ifthey're already in business, to
kind of streamline the businessa bit and have actual numbers
there.
'cause when you look online onthose different Facebook groups,
the people always ask, what do Isell?
how much should I charge for myex?
Or How much do you sell a bird?
And all these things.

(33:41):
And here is your answers.
Once you know how much time youspend on.
Actually hatching and, caringfor your quail, you get a bit of
better sense how much you cancharge for your ex, for example,
So there's a, a lot of tools inthere and, and with input from
people like you and others,it'll grow and we will add on
more and more functionality, which helps people to get into

(34:05):
the business or to run theirbusiness.
I could see that somebody justgetting started, this would be
super helpful.
Yes, absolutely.
Instead of just trying to usepencil and paper and
spreadsheets.
Which is what we, this is whatwe tried to do, and I ended up
with whiteboards and takingpictures of the whiteboards.

(34:26):
We all did that.
I have down here a couple ofthem still standing around.
Exactly.
Or, or really simple tasks aswell.
I, I mentioned earlier on theprice list, So if you.
If you are not good withcomputers and things like that,
then not everybody's good withcomputers and that's fine and
built in here as well.
To make it simple for you tohave a price, a price list here,

(34:47):
I can say, okay, actually I sellsome English white as well, for
example.
And you can put a price here perdozen or per single leg,
depending how you make it, andyou can save that.
And you say, okay, I need asimple price list now, what I
can give to customers, so youcan just download it here.
And, and here's your price list.
So it has your businessinformation on top, when it's

(35:09):
valid from, and all thedifferent things you're selling,
And you can also download thatas a picture, so you can share
it on Facebook.
some people might spend an hourto make a price list for their
business here.
It took how long?
I don't know, 30 seconds.
It's really easy, and I'll tellyou something else, is that you
make the price list in yourhead.

(35:30):
And then you put it in notes onyour phone.
And then you tell people, andthen you're what did I tell'em
again?
Exactly.
So you're scrolling back throughthe messages and stuff.
If it was all in one place likethis, then it's, prepared
answers, basically.
So you always tell people theexact same thing.
So if they come back and say,no, you said it was a dollar a

(35:50):
dozen.
You know that they're nottelling you the truth.
exactly.
I learned that in my day job youhave to standard answers.
That's what I called it,standard answers.
You have to have standardanswers.
That way when they come back andthey're no, that's not what you
said.
You said this.
You can go, yeah, I would neversay that.
You have it here on yourfingertips.
you can keep copies of thosePDFs of this price list.

(36:12):
So once you change your prices, you see that.
the date stamp on it and say, ohyeah, the price list is from
last year.
Sorry.
Okay.
So there's a lot of, thingsbuilt in, which does help with
this kind of stuff.
And, it's the same thing withvendors, for example.
I buy on Amazon things for thebusiness.
I buy, local stores, hardwarestores, tractor supply, so I can

(36:33):
keep track here of my vendors aswell if I want to.
And at the end of the year, ifI'm wondering with my profit and
loss, so why is it a loss here?
I can go and, drill into that alittle bit and and see where do
I spend my money on?
And I can, when if I track ithere in my, I can go back here
into my reports and I see thevendor pur purchases, and I can

(36:57):
see here if I have the data inhere, of course.
Okay.
How much did I spend for thequail in, home Depot?
How much I spend on Amazon forquail related stuff?
How much egg form did I buy?
Mm-hmm.
how much I spend on, on hatchingeggs or all that stuff.
It'll tell you here as well, youhave the data, you see exactly

(37:17):
how often you order fromsomebody so you have that at
your fingertips.
And I think that's importantbecause often people run a
business without numbers.
And then you wonder, why don'tyou make money with it, right?
Mm-hmm.
And I've seen that, and you forsure too over the years, there
is quail businesses, but also inthe chicken world or whatever,

(37:41):
you see somebody popping upthere and then a year later you
don't hear anything anymorebecause Exactly.
They went outta business becausetheir numbers were not adding
up.
Right?
And with, with that reportfunctionality, it will just
help.
People hopefully to besuccessful, at least to be a
little bit more informed aboutwhat, what's going on in their

(38:02):
business.
And well, and if you keep allyour receipts in one place, your
CPA will Thank you later.
Oh yeah, that, that's a niceone.
I already having the idea thatyou might have the option to
give you a CP 80 access to thefinancial part of the
application.
So if they ask your, youraccountant is doing your taxes,

(38:22):
you could give them access andsay, okay, get your data there.
it's all in there.
Well, if you could just downloadit into a spreadsheet or a pdf f
Oh, yeah.
Then is just email.
I always email all that stuff,Yeah, you just email it.
That's another option.
exactly.
That's a good point you'reraising because the export thing
is another thing, which I takevery serious.

(38:43):
we have that here on thatspecific page, but you can take
out all your data in the datamanagement.
'cause I hate that if some appsdon't allow that because demon
kind of lock you in.
Mm-hmm.
But everything you put intoqualo s is your data.
how many chickens you got, howmany quail you got, how many

(39:03):
turkeys you got, how many eggsyou produce.
This is all your data, so youshould have access to your data
at any given time.
And if you decide to that youdon't wanna use that anymore,
fine then, but you can at leastget all your data you entered.
You can export it right to yourcomputer as a normal, CSV as a

(39:24):
spreadsheet format.
You can, Export it and take itanywhere else and or just keep
it as a local backup.
Right?
Right.
But that's for me, when I lookfor a software solution, I
always look, okay, can I somehowback up my data?
Because if I enter here now theentire year, every single day,
how many eggs I collect, I wannahave that locally safe just in

(39:47):
case.
I don't wanna lose that data.
Obviously this is all runningin, on the, on the cloud
infrastructure.
There's backups and all thesethings, and it's, it's secure
and encrypted.
But just in case, in case youwant to keep your data locally,
you can export it here at anygiven time.
And your time entering the datahere is not wasted because you

(40:08):
still have your data in anycase.
All right, well, let's, let'srecap for just a second.
So using it is free.
That's right.
But if you wanna start using theshipping part of it and get the
better rates, that's where thecost starts coming in.
That's it.
That's right.
Exactly.
And it's really straightforwardthere as well.

(40:30):
we have it in the settings page, but on the, on the main page as
well.
there's different subscriptions.
The bronze tier, the, the datatier is free and will always
stay free.
crossing fingers.
I'm waiting to hear back from a,from a sponsor, to keep that
free.
But that's the plan and that'snot gonna change.
We'll figure that out.

(40:51):
and then there's different othertiers, silver, gold, and, and
diamond with different features.
with Golden, the environment.
Actually, I do kind of acoaching call as well for people
who want it.
We do like a monthly businesscall where we look into
different things, differentquestions and answers, right?
How do I make labels for mydoctorates I wanna sell?

(41:13):
Or what are even requirements tosell on a farmer's market?
Or, what about NPIP?
All kinds of different things wecan discuss on such a call.
But the main difference is thenbetter shipping rates as well.
Or for example, what access youget here in the library.
but it's really straightforwardand compared to what other tools

(41:34):
are costing.
If you think about, QuickBooks,if you think about shipping
software, if you think about, weather forecast is for free,
okay?
But if you think about how muchit cost you, if somebody tries
to scam you, right?
with an order.
it, this is in comparisonactually, pretty cheap, yeah,

(41:55):
but it, it helps to keep theplatform running, obviously,
with, running a software.
there is cost with that, and sothat helps here, but I try to
keep it accessible for people.
'cause I don't like it whenthings, I don't like it myself
when things are so expensive,right?
And it's not like I have a hugeoperation and a hundred people
sitting behind me.
I have to pay.
Right.

(42:16):
So I can, I can do it that way.
All righty.
Well, thank you.
Well tell everybody where theycan find you.
What's all your websites?
Yeah.
The main website, Qualo s youfind it, at qualo.com.
And that's, that's the softwareand that's the newest project.
Right.
with all the experience I getfrom the last five years, for x

(42:38):
people know where to go.
that's, that's fine.
but yeah, if you wanna have moreinformation about qualo s if he
just looked it up, that's all onqualo s.com.
Okay.
And then Unica, you do, rent ahatch and sell People can put
stuff on your marketplace andall that kind of stuff.
Right on un have a businessincubator where I help people,

(42:59):
for example, to launch theirproducts on Amazon.
If you have a great product, yousay, Hey, I would love to sell
it on Amazon, but I don't knowhow to do that.
that's what I do with the Unicabusiness, incubator.
Exactly.
you can find it through UnicaUs.
So Unica Peace and yeah.
Rent the Hatch is a, is anoption.
And we have it mentioned in hereas well.

(43:19):
If you wanna, run your ownincubator, rentals for families
or schools that, that helps thiswebsite with that.
yeah, I have, I cover a fewdifferent angles from the
industry because, I, I'm alittle bit like a Swiss Army
knife, comes to computers.
I'm Austrian, but, I, I, as achild, I always loved Swiss Army

(43:39):
knives and, yeah, little bit theSwiss Army knife as well for all
your needs around running apoultry or game birth business.
Yeah.
All right.
Well, I very much appreciate youjoining us today.
Thank you also for having me andI wish you guys all, Merry
Christmas and a good startinginto the new year.
All right, sounds good.
Thank you.

(44:00):
Thank you.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
