We didn't watch any of themovies, but I think we watched

I love her though.
Garry (11:01):
Yeah, she's a great
actress.
I really enjoy her stuff.
Yeah, she's a great actress, Ireally enjoy her stuff.
Amy (11:05):
Yeah, yeah, she's good.
Garry (11:08):
And I'm kind of anxious
to see how she plays out in this
particular series.
I agree In this series.
Amy (11:14):
What's going to be her
storyline?
Does it grow she?
Garry (11:16):
probably owns the boat.
Amy (11:18):
She probably does own the
boat.
Yeah, we don't know it's herfloating home.
Yeah, it's her floating.
It might be.
I'm gonna be curious to see.
Garry (11:26):
Yeah, yeah, that's a good
point that would be funny, if
that's what it was yep so what?
Amy (11:31):
did you think what did I
think?
Should I drop the synopsis or?
Garry (11:35):
should I?
Goodness I am, we are.
Maybe I should take a sip ofwine, is it?
Amy (11:39):
friday.
Is it monday?
Garry (11:40):
I don't know what day it
is now.
It's only Tuesday.
It's Monday.
This guy's is Tuesday.
Okay, it's time to drop this.
Enough, okay.
Amy (11:47):
Here we go A daughter
traveling with her widowed
mother, a musical theaterperformer, and a son traveling
with his widowed father, apianist, meet on a cruise and
decide that their musicalparents would make the perfect
couple.
They just need to help themrealize it.
They spend the rest of the triptrying to engineer a romance,
only to discover it might not betheir parents who are falling
(12:09):
in love.
Garry (12:10):
Right, right.
Amy (12:12):
Okay, right.
So what did you think?
Garry (12:17):
I loved the movie.
I loved the concept, definitelyloved the locations.
Amy (12:22):
Yeah.
Garry (12:28):
I enjoyed the various
stops that you know the boat
took along the way.
However, I did feel like it wasa little slow.
Amy (12:34):
You did.
Garry (12:35):
Yeah, yeah, I didn't feel
like it flowed like the other
movies.
That we've watched, but that'sokay.
I also felt like the charactersdidn't grow a lot in this one.
Amy (12:47):
Right.
Garry (12:47):
Well, maybe Julia.
Amy (12:50):
We might have to disagree a
little bit about that, but yeah
, we can disagree but that's howI felt about this particular
one.
Well, I think too.
We're coming off of watchingthe Chicken Sisters, where we
had monumental growth for allthese characters, and this is
not the same.
That's fair.
Garry (13:04):
This is not the same.
That's fair.
This is not the same.
Yeah, so tell me what youthought.
Amy (13:09):
Well, I was sort of I mean,
it'll be similar to yours in
that I enjoyed it.
I actually thought it wasreally cute.
I thought the cast had reallygood chemistry.
Garry (13:19):
Mm-hmm.
Amy (13:20):
And I actually, you know,
love the location shoot, of
course, right, and it was filmed.
I did read that it was filmedmainly in Budapest.
Garry (13:28):
Right.
Amy (13:28):
Hungary.
They didn't make all the stops, but it was still beautiful,
right.
Garry (13:32):
Right.
Amy (13:33):
The architecture.
One of the shoes was literallyat one of the baths there when
they were in the pool.
Garry (13:40):
That was pretty cool yeah
.
Amy (13:42):
Yeah, that's called the
Gellert I don't know how to
pronounce that thermal bath.
It was built on historicalhealing hot springs in 1918.
Wow, and I read that the cameracrew had to get on bathing
suits because the angles theywanted they had to get in the
water.
Oh, wow To shoot, which Ithought was pretty cool, and
then the church scene that theyfilmed in.
It was the first time that thatchurch ever allowed a filming
crew inside to film.
Garry (14:04):
Wow, Hallmark got the
first shoot.
Church of Our.
Amy (14:05):
Lady of Buddha Castle.
It's also known as St MatthiasChurch.
Garry (14:09):
It was beautiful inside.
Amy (14:10):
Yeah, I thought that was
cool.
So the location shoot I alwayslove that when they do that.
You know, I actually thought itflowed smoothly.
I just kept thinking like softand smooth as we were going
through it.
Right, the story, the locationshoot, the actors Did it blow me
away.
No right, you know.
But it doesn't have to knock mysocks off to just be an
(14:31):
enjoyable, heartfelt movie.
Yeah so that's kind of how Ifelt, I mean I wasn't sad that
we watched it, you know I mean Ithought.
I thought it was enjoyable, butit didn't like blow me away,
like some of our other favoritehomework movies.
So, yeah, we're kind of on thesame page there.
Okay, yeah.
Garry (14:49):
What about favorite
scenes?
Did you have any?
Amy (14:51):
A few the location shoot in
general.
Garry (14:56):
Yes.
Amy (14:56):
I just loved all the shots.
Garry (14:59):
It was beautiful.
Amy (14:59):
So yeah, so I have to give
a shout out to that.
I thought the meet cute workedon the steps when she was trying
to get reception right on thesteps.
Garry (15:09):
Okay, so what do?
Amy (15:10):
you what do you?
That's one of your favoritescenes.
Garry (15:12):
It's one of my favorite
scenes where she's walking up
the steps trying to get a signalon her phone yeah she's talking
to herself and then, um jackcomes up behind her like he's
dancing and then she turnsaround and they start to talk
and you know, they introducethemselves to each other.
But then, as they're sayinggoodbye, he turns around to her
(15:35):
and says talk typos later.
Yeah, and he was like why did Isay?
Amy (15:40):
that that was just seemed
like a.
They did seem so genuine.
Garry (15:45):
And.
Amy (15:45):
I don't know.
Yeah, I thought that, so I'mglad we agree with that.
That was just such a cute meetcute, so to speak.
Yeah, I enjoyed that.
Any other scenes that you liked?
Garry (15:56):
I loved the cake scene
that they did the cake scene.
Yeah, where Jack and Sarah wentto go taste the cake.
Amy (16:01):
Oh, yes, yes, where they?
Garry (16:04):
And I think his name was
Lucas, the character who was,
you know, providing the cakes.
Amy (16:10):
Yeah, was it cheesecake, or
was it it was just cake?
Garry (16:12):
I'm not sure.
I think some of it might havebeen cheesecake.
Amy (16:14):
Yeah.
Garry (16:16):
But the way the guy or
Lucas, he was really serious
about them enjoying the tastingof these cakes.
Amy (16:23):
Yes, it was very serious
business.
Garry (16:25):
But then you have Sarah
and Jake, you know, trying to
make fun of the moment and theydecided, oh, you know, we're
getting engaged.
And then the guy was like, well, there's no spots for weddings
because it takes years to bookit right.
And they're like, oh, thatwould take too long.
But there was a courthouseacross the street, so they
talked about going there.
Amy (16:46):
Yeah.
Garry (16:46):
But then they said oh,
can we get a to-go box In?
Amy (16:49):
his face In his face Like
what, yeah, yeah what.
Garry (16:54):
A to-go box.
Yeah, are you serious?
That whole scene really worked.
It was cute and fun.
Amy (17:00):
So I thought that was fun.
Yeah, the library scene too, just because I love the library
you know just all the books, thecool architecture, you know, I
just thought it looked cool andthen walking through it, and
then of course.
Garry (17:14):
Then they go to the music
room right, that's in the
library or a part of the library, right?
Amy (17:18):
And they go in into the
music room, which again I
thought was really cool, and Ididn't look up to see what
library that was.
I bet that was a real.
Garry (17:24):
It was.
Oh, did you look it up?
I didn't write it down.
It kind of reminded me of theLibrary of Congress.
Amy (17:30):
Yeah, I mean, that's a
beautiful library too.
Garry (17:33):
Yes, but yeah, because I
had that down as one of my
favorites too, did you?
Amy (17:37):
Yeah, so they go in and he
gifts his father.
Garry (17:42):
His name is going to be
in the book and the oldest book,
I think of marching bands.
Amy (17:47):
Every time she said
Guggenheim, I kept thinking
Guggenheim, like the Guggenheim.
Garry (17:52):
Yeah, it was interesting
though, Because when he sat down
and, I think, sarah came upwith the idea, and so they
booked this private viewing ofthis book.
Amy (18:02):
Oh, that's right, she did.
Garry (18:03):
You're right, he got his
name in, and then they take a
picture of Andre and his father.
And yeah, I liked that scenetoo.
I thought it was pretty cool.
Amy (18:13):
Yeah, yeah, did you have
any other?
No, no.
Garry (18:16):
What about you?
Amy (18:17):
The other one that I had
listed was when Julia and Betty
sing the trolley song.
Oh yeah, I forgot about that.
That was really good.
Yeah, I thought that was reallygood.
Do you know what that's?
Garry (18:29):
from no, that's from the
musical no, it's.
Amy (18:30):
Meet Me in St Louis.
Garry (18:33):
Oh, meet me in St Louis.
That was a fun scene too, Ithought that was a really fun
scene.
I just liked it and I likedthat they got to sing.
Yeah, yeah, I thought that wascute.
I forgot about that scene.
Yep, yep, yep.
Amy (18:45):
Yeah.
Garry (18:46):
Any more.
Amy (18:47):
No, that's it for favorite
scenes for me.
Garry (18:49):
So shall we move on to
Cheers.
Amy (18:51):
Cheers, biggest cheer, from
you.
Or a cheer if you have several.
Garry (18:57):
No, my biggest cheer was
that they actually shot it on
location.
Amy (19:00):
Yep, I have that too and,
like you said, mostly in.
Garry (19:03):
Budapest and Hungary.
Amy (19:05):
Yeah, budapest and Hungary,
yeah, Budapest, hungary is
Right, right, right, right and.
Garry (19:09):
The city?
I didn't know, but along theway there's a lot of houses that
are along the bank.
Amy (19:17):
Of the Danube.
Garry (19:18):
Yeah, oh yeah, because
the Danube, I think it's.
What did they say?
It's like I don't know.
Like 1,700 miles long.
Amy (19:26):
Did they talk about it in
the movie?
No, they didn't.
I looked it up, yeah.
Garry (19:30):
Yeah, 1,770 miles long.
Amy (19:33):
And you know we've never
been on a cruise, but that type
of cruise, yeah, Boat.
Garry (19:38):
Yeah.
Amy (19:38):
I mean, obviously, I guess
you wouldn't have the big cruise
ships on the Danube.
Garry (19:46):
I I don't really know.
I mean, don't quote me on that,I don't really know.
It's a river and you can't getunder those bridges with a big
old cruise ship.
Amy (19:50):
That's true, but I thought
that was really just cool the
way it was.
Garry (19:54):
I would do that, I would
totally go over there and do
that and you know they do havecruises and I looked that up by
the way.
Amy (19:58):
Oh, okay, are we going.
Garry (20:07):
Did two to five days.
They have standard cruises, which is seven to eight days,
extended cruises, which is 10 to14 days, and then the grand
cruises, which is 15 to 22 plusdays.
Amy (20:13):
Now is this a 22 plus days,
so maybe that's what the one?
Garry (20:18):
what's her name?
Amy (20:19):
I forgot her name Betty,
betty, the character Betty.
Garry (20:21):
Maybe that's what she
booked is the long one.
Maybe That'd be interesting, yeah to see and they have
different places where you canget on and off for each of those
cruises.
Amy (20:30):
So is that a particular
cruise line?
Garry (20:33):
or you're just saying in
general, it is danube, but I I,
I think it's on the danube, ordanube, anyways it's well, I
hope it is because you're butthe one that they shot on, the
boat that they shot on, wasactually one of the real ones
and they had their pamphlets onthere that you could see if you
were paying attention.
Amy (20:51):
It's legit.
Yes, oh, that's so cool.
Look at you with the trivia.
That's awesome yeah.
Garry (20:57):
I thought I'd drop that
in there for you.
Amy (20:58):
Look at you.
Garry (20:59):
So did you have any
cheers?
Amy (21:01):
Well, you said the location
shoot.
Um, I had a few I I loved thatthey didn't have.
Julia regret her choice to umstep down from her career not
step down but step away from hercareer.
When she became a parent and youknow I mean so many times the
movies are, it's like the oldtrope, you know, like oh gosh, I
(21:22):
wish I wouldn't have done that,I should have have stayed.
But she was like you know, Ididn't regret it.
I mean, you can be sad aboutsomething and you can miss it
and not regret it.
Garry (21:31):
Right.
Amy (21:31):
Right.
So I just I kind of enjoyedthat storyline part of it.
I actually thought thechemistry worked really well
between everybody.
Garry (21:41):
Yeah.
Amy (21:46):
It wasn't like explosive,
but I just thought it flowed
lovely.
Garry (21:48):
You know I thought it was
just a lovely flow throughout
the whole movie.
Amy (21:50):
I can see that.
Yeah, those were.
Do you have any other cheers?
No, I don't have any other.
You don't have any other?
No, nothing else.
The winery stop.
Garry (21:58):
We've got to shout that
out.
Well, that winery is prettycool because they said the
cellar goes on for miles.
Yes, can you imagine?
Amy (22:04):
That would be so cool to
see.
Garry (22:06):
So cool.
I'm just giving a shout out tothe winery.
So I mean it's gotta be a cheerwe have to.
Amy (22:12):
I love which we've already.
You know which I've alreadymentioned um Catherine Disher I
just love her she's, so I justlove her quirkiness and the, the
characters and how she kind of,you know, talked to everyone
and Kind of cheered them up.
Cheered them up, brought themaround.
You know it was cool, and thefact that she knew everything
about them, she was like, oh mygosh, I know all your music.
Garry (22:33):
You know, and like that
was funny.
Amy (22:35):
And I have a favorite play
of yours to Stanley you know.
So she kind of just like I justthought her character, I loved
her character, so I character,so I'm okay, so I'm looking, I'm
looking forward to seeing herin the other two movies, right,
and like you said earlier, tosee where she goes, where her
character goes and what she does.
Um, I kind of am digging theopenings, the cartoony with the
(22:58):
and the music.
I thought that was really cool.
Garry (23:01):
Remind me of the royals,
the royal series that's exactly
what I had down.
Amy (23:04):
Yeah, the royal weekends
that we had.
Garry (23:06):
Yeah, royalish, royalish
and the.
Amy (23:08):
Royal we and yeah, where
they had that cute little
opening.
So we should watch this oneagain and then see if it differs
from the next one which I'msure it probably will.
Maybe it's the different stopsor whatever, but I kind of like
that, I think it's cute and, youknow, a little quirky.
And then the song slash musicat the end just reminded me of
the 80s music.
Garry (23:26):
Yes.
Amy (23:27):
It was very.
I know it wasn't from the 80s,but it was reminiscent of that,
so I love that.
Well, cool yeah.
So there you go.
Garry (23:34):
So that was all your
cheers, huh.
Amy (23:35):
That was it.
Those were my cheers.
Garry (23:38):
So we're going to move on
to jeers.
Amy (23:40):
All right, let's move on to
jeers and see what you got.
What you got.
Okay, my one of my, just Do youhave a whole list?
Well, I have a couple.
Okay, I have like three.
Garry (23:48):
Okay, julia, I just I
understand you know the fear of
getting back up on stage, but Ifelt like there were too many
scenes where she kept saying Idon't want to go on there, I
don't want to go up on stage, you know I don't want to go on
there.
I don't want to go up on stage, you know, I don't want to be
the lead, I just want to be inthe chorus.
It just felt like I think itwas like three or four scenes
(24:10):
where she said that and then shetakes, she leaves a note on her
bed for Sarah that you knowwhere she went and just kind of
sat on a bench, contemplate youknow her life or whatever, and
then she tells her about how shedoesn't want to do it, but then
Sarah kind of talks her into itso that was one of my tears.
I loved her as a character.
(24:31):
Yeah, I just felt that part ofit, just to me was Did you feel
like it was too much?
Amy (24:37):
It was too much.
It was too much for rehearsing.
Garry (24:39):
I mean for somebody that
was on stage for a while.
I wouldn't think the nerveswould be that much as much as
they portrayed in this.
Amy (24:48):
I don't know if you haven't
done it in 35 years or however
long.
It was 30 years.
Garry (24:51):
And then I think another
reason was because her husband's
passing, who was always therefor her plays musicals.
Amy (24:59):
Right.
Garry (24:59):
Maybe that has something
to do with it too.
Maybe, yeah, that was one ofthem.
What about you?
Amy (25:03):
Okay, it looked like Jack
and Andre could have been
brothers and not father and son.
I swear.
I mean and you know and that'sa compliment towards Andre if he
is in fact old enough to beJack's father.
But I just felt like the agedifference.
You know, in certain anglesjust wasn't enough for me?
Garry (25:24):
Are there just not enough
?
Older actors?
I don't know, I don't know.
Wasn't enough for me, are therejust not enough?
Amy (25:25):
older actors?
I don't know.
I don't know but it just theyjust seem closer in age than
what I think they were trying toput off.
And again, maybe that's just atestament to Andre or the actor
who plays Andre.
Garry (25:40):
True.
Amy (25:41):
And, by the way, when I say
, did you ever watch Project
Runway with Heidi Klum and TimGunn?
yeah, we watched it a little bit, but there was one of the first
few seasons there was one ofthe contestants.
His name was andre.
So when we were watching this, tim gunn used to say andre, and
he used to say it in such a wayand it became like a thing right
(26:04):
during that season.
He'd go Andre, where are you?
You know, oh, andre, and justthe way he said so in my head
the whole time we were watchingthis movie that's what I kept
thinking of.
So shout out to Project Runwayfor that.
Garry (26:18):
That is funny.
Amy (26:19):
What other jeers did you
have?
Garry (26:21):
The scene when, with Jack
and Sarah taking a carriage
ride.
Oh, oh, my God, that hurt myhead Because it was bouncy, with
Jack and Sarah taking acarriage ride.
Amy (26:31):
Oh, oh, my God, that hurt
my head Because it was bouncy.
Yeah, it was, it was, yeah.
Garry (26:32):
I don't know if that was
a green screen, or if it was
real, because the aperture onthe camera I don't know.
Amy (26:38):
But yeah, I had to look
away.
Garry (26:39):
It was hard to tell
Because they kept bouncing, but
I don't think their voicessounded like they were bouncing.
They were like bouncing up anddown.
That's true.
I didn't think about that whenwe were watching it and it just
drove me crazy.
Amy (26:49):
I just didn't like that,
yeah it was too like jerky
almost, and up and down it washurt my eyes I mean, I guess the
fact that we couldn't tell ifit was a green screen is not a
bad thing, because that means itwas decent, but it was like
green screen and it was legit.
And then other parts you knowif they had to reshoot or
whatever.
Garry (27:08):
And the car that was
behind them.
It was like if the carriagewould have had a sudden stop,
that car would have ran up onthem.
Amy (27:15):
I didn't even know Was it
right close.
Garry (27:17):
I didn't see it, I didn't
even know.
Amy (27:18):
I was paying attention to
the dialogue.
Thank you very much.
Garry (27:21):
Okay, no, just kidding.
Amy (27:28):
So what about you?
What's your cheer Sarah's boss?
Can we just make bosses?
Garry (27:30):
be a boss.
I know be a boss people.
Amy (27:31):
It was like a weird like we
almost didn't even need that.
Garry (27:34):
Yes.
Amy (27:35):
You know, I mean, we didn't
need that character.
I didn't think and I justdidn't.
I don't know the whole over.
You know you're fired if youdon't get this in right.
Garry (27:45):
I know.
Amy (27:51):
I mean, they have these.
I just our bosses.
Really, I just wish they wouldget away from that.
You know, you could have a bosswho's you know hard on you and
whatnot, but it just I don'tknow.
I'm just maybe I'm kind of wornout from that, but I just
didn't think it worked.
Um, I didn't like when sarahacted, surprised that jack was
into her when they were at theirdinner, I know, she's like what
?
yeah, but she was flirting with.
They were kind of like buildingit up a little bit.
(28:11):
Yeah, I don't know.
Garry (28:12):
I just felt like in that
part it didn't that one scene
like oh, yeah, for the wholescene I'm like, but y'all just
met yeah, well, yeah yeah sothat was another one.
Amy (28:24):
Do you have any more?
Garry (28:24):
was that the scene where
he kind of, you know, laid it
out for her like he he was inlove with her and all that?
Yeah, it kind of reminded me ofJohn Cusack's Say Anything.
Amy (28:36):
I gave her my heart.
She gave me a pen.
Garry (28:38):
Yeah, that was funny, but
no, I didn't have any more.
Amy (28:43):
No, that was it.
The only other one that I hadfor a jeer was the hats.
Garry (28:48):
Yes.
Amy (28:48):
When Jack and Andre wear
the hats, I didn't view it so
much as Frank Sinatra.
Did you think of Frank Sinatrawhen you saw those hats on them?
No, no, I just didn't.
And we love Frank Sinatra.
Garry (29:00):
Yes, Now.
Amy (29:00):
I don't know all of his
stuff.
I mean I know he wore what, dothey call them Fedoras or
whatever, so but I just didn'tfeel like it.
He's like, oh, you look justlike Frank Sinatra.
And I'm like, yeah, no, notreally.
Garry (29:14):
I didn't get that.
Oh, I did have one more, Jerryit was the captain.
Amy (29:19):
The captain.
Garry (29:20):
It was kind of like a
voiceover a couple of times
throughout the movie where hewas saying we're now stopping at
whatever port, and why wouldn'tyou just show him he's there?
I would rather them show him onthe microphone saying okay, our
next stop is blah blah blah.
But it just kind of soundedlike they were coming off the
(29:44):
boat.
And there's this voice, likeGod is speaking to you.
Amy (29:46):
Well, it's so interesting
that you say that, because I
kind of liked it.
Garry (29:48):
Oh, did you.
Amy (29:49):
The voiceover in that part
of it.
Yeah, where he was like nextstop you know, vienna or
whatever they would say, andthen he would talk about some of
the things.
Garry (29:57):
Yeah.
Amy (29:57):
That's interesting.
We have a different opinionabout that.
Garry (30:01):
Yes, but yes.
Amy (30:03):
I understand your point,
but I don't agree with it
Because I'm not changing it.
I didn't like the voiceover atthe very beginning, when you
hear Sarah and Julia talking inlike the cab they're pulling up
to get on the cruise.
Garry (30:17):
Right.
Amy (30:17):
And it's like a weird, like
just show them.
Garry (30:19):
That's what I was saying.
Amy (30:20):
It's kind of like what you
were just saying about the
captain, but I felt like thatkind of worked, but with them I
just felt like why are we?
We don't even know who they are.
I don't know.
I just thought that that was.
It was weird, a little bitweird.
Garry (30:31):
Yeah, but that's it for
me.
Amy (30:32):
Yeah, yeah.
Garry (30:33):
What about you?
Amy (30:35):
That's all I got to say
about that.
Garry (30:38):
No, that's it for me.
So, out of five corks, then, how many would you give it?
Oh, um, I'd probably give it asolid three and a half.
Yeah, that's what I.
What would you give it?
Amy (30:53):
three and a half really,
we're the same.
Yes, I almost went a four metoo but that's bordering on what
I really like and I know we'vebeen freely giving away fives
and stuff that we just reallylike, because we're just, you
know, into the stuff that, andit wasn't bad acting.
Garry (31:05):
It was not bad acting.
No, it wasn't the chemistry.
It wasn't like love is in.
No, no, it was not bad acting.
No, it wasn't like it wasn'tthe chemistry.
It wasn't like love is in theair, just some of the clips.
Or love in the clouds Love inthe clouds, love in the clouds,
see I don't even know it wassupposed to be called love in
the air, but Whatever Love inthe, but it was a nice movie
(31:25):
night for us, don't you think?
I enjoyed it.
A nice Saturday night.
Amy (31:29):
Okay, yeah, there you go.
