I think our travels are off toa fantastic start in Passport to
Love, yes, while we definitelyget a romance in there right,
and it's kind of cool becauseit's in Spain and it's a.
Spanish man and the languageand stuff, rico.
I love that we have twowonderfully strong female actors

who they share the billing, bythe way.

Yes, you know, they share the billing.

And they play perfectly off of each other and that could
have to do with them having areal-life friendship.
I mean, I thought AshleyWilliams was exceptional.
She's just so cute and fun andhappy-go-lucky and, like I said,
I think she's like that in reallife.
I'd like to believe that.
I'm sure she has her downmoments, but her character was
just like she is on the realityshow yeah when she goes to the

town, she's just so genuine youknow and, um, you know when
she's mad she's not really mad,mad, I don't know.
It's like it's so good and aliceand sweeney perfectly plays the
more serious, grounded but alsototally genuine.

genuine woman in the film.
Yeah, I mean, they're so goodand they're both.
You know, their characters arestill trying to find their way

Now that we've told you what we think, we'll tell you a
little bit about what it's about.
Here's the synopsis Erica, anAmerican translator, secretly

the credited author, for asigning in the city and, as we

Yeah, I thought that was reallykind of like valentine's yeah
yeah, they filmed honor near losramblas, which is a famous
street in barcelona, thecathedral beautiful sagrada
familia.

Yeah, it was beautiful.
They actually filmed in thegondola at one point.
They are in a gondola and theyfilmed in there, and Ali speaks

Okay, I thought that was pretty cool, because you don't
see that too often.

You know, and that's one of the things that about
americans and and acting wedon't do really do a lot of the
other languages like they do,like they'll come here and
somebody that speaks spanishwill do an american english
accent or talk in english, butyou rarely do you see someone go
over there and speak in spanishright, right.
Amy (13:40):
Well, she didn't speak in spanish the whole.
I mean she just no, not thewhole time, but still I mean, if
I could speak that much, I'd belike, really, I know, like wow,
you'd be fine.
Garry (13:49):
Because we don't teach it early enough here and we don't.
I don't think we teach it theway it should be taught.
Amy (13:54):
Right, right, but to be a I call it a ghostwriter
translator?
Yeah, that would be really cool.
Garry (14:04):
I mean, how hard would that be to translate it into
another language?
Amy (14:06):
Well, you know Ali Sweeney's character, erica, does
take the matter to her ownhands and pretty much writes the
book when she's translating itwrites Anna's book and it is a
big hit in Spain because of itand it's not a hit in America
with Anna's version.
Garry (14:25):

But Erica's version.
Garry (14:27):
You know, what was so funny is I was thinking that
they were friends, but they weremad at each other when the
movie first started.
Really, they mentioned thatAnna was going to go to
Barcelona.
She had that.
Erica had that look on her facelike and I thought they were

friends but had fallen out.
Amy (14:49):
But actually she was the ghostwriter, you know what it's
so funny that you say thatbecause I have that in my notes
also that we didn't.
I didn't read the.
Sometimes I do the legworkbefore we watch a film and I'll
write the synopsis down and lookat the actors and everything,
but I hadn't done anythingbefore we watched it the first
time.

And so I didn't, and we didn't, watch the trailers, so I
really thought that maybe she.

I just didn't know what.
Because of the way Erica wasacting at the beginning about
the book and about Anna, Ididn't know if they were rivals,
and I too was surprised to findthat out that she was, that she

say that, go ahead we, we aregoing to give away spoilers, so

thought that was really cool allright, so you want to get into

soon to be friends right, Ithought that was really cute.

So, at the beginning, well,towards the beginning, well, I
guess, yeah, towards thebeginning and um, anna thinks
that erica was sent there to beher assistant so she like asked
her for food or something anderica's like I'm your assistant.
I'm here just to show you aroundand I thought that was really

So we had a meet cute, just nota romantic one.
So I thought that was reallycool.

It was a really good thing.

And I loved how she didn't act like a snob about it.

I wondered how they?
Yeah, yeah, because throughoutthat beginning part, like Nico's
telling Anna things about thebook and she's like what?

You know, it's just funny.

Yeah, I wonder if he had to spear the fish to make his

I really liked when they found the secret bar.
Oh, that was so cool Becausethey're looking for it that long

allison sweeney, but hercharacter, erica, kind of
doesn't believe anna's, like youknow neither does tell you
anything, and he doesn't reallybelieve her and then all of a
sudden they find it.
I just thought it was so cuteand I think it was actually

Um, I think they might havesaid it was actually really a
bar behind something, but Icould be mistaken, but I thought
I heard an interview of themsay that.

But isn't that always the case?
You know you live somewhere andyou think you know all the
nooks and crannies, and thensomebody comes from out of town
and right, oh did you ever go tothis place.
Amy (18:31):
You're like I never even knew about that well, and anna's
so bubbly.
She's like people tell methings, you know, like people
will just.
And her personality invitespeople to tell her things and
she's like see, I like when theygot inside of the little secret
bar or restaurant.
Garry (18:48):
She pulls out her phone and she does a translation, like
I told you.
Amy (18:52):
so In Spanish.
Oh yeah, it was so cute.
Just little quips like that.

Yeah, I like how they gave a just kind of shout out to
roxanne.
Amy (19:03):
yes, yes, well, and that's a shout out to cyrano yes, yes
yeah, steve martin, and uh,daryl hannah, I think was in
that steve martin and darylhannah.
Garry (19:13):
Yep, yep, yeah, because I also had the.
Uh, the little secret so what?
Amy (19:17):
when you say the shout out, you mean the actually scene
where they did it, or you justmean when they, when they were
walking?
Garry (19:22):
they were talking about.
I can't remember what Ericasaid Anna Anna was, she was
rattling off some things.
And then they both at the sametime said ooh.

Roxanne, roxanne, oh yeah, yeah, that scene they did, but
the password to get into thatrestaurant was free refills.
Garry (19:44):
Oh, that's right, you had to say free refills, yeah.
Amy (19:46):
Free refills, free refills yeah, when she said that and
they opened it up, that waspretty cute.
Garry (19:48):
They all looked at her like what yeah?
That was cute so yeah, whatelse did you?
Amy (19:52):

I loved all the shots of Annagoing around eating the food and
taking selfies.
It was just really cute and funand I know Ashley Williams has
said that.
You know she's really eatingthe food.
Like a lot of actors and actors, you know when you're in a
scene you don't really eat, butshe was like it was so good she

was actually eating.
Garry (20:15):
She did a really good job of eating and talking.
Amy (20:17):
Yeah, eating and talking.
So I just and I loved all thosescenes because I just think her
personality I have to believeAshley Williams and if she's not
really like this in real life Iwould be shocked, but she just
seems like the most bubblygenuine, you just want to hang
out with her.
Yeah, you just want to hang outwith her, so I thought it was
really cool.
Garry (20:34):
You know, not to get drunk or anything, just to hang
out.
Oh, no, no, no know and eat andbe a foodie with her and go
around and I mean, yeah, she'sjust cool yeah, I also love that
scene too, how she went fromvendor to vendor yeah she was
tasting the food and she'd giveum pieces of it to other people
and take a selfie with them yeah, and I thought that you know,

when you love something, thatshould be your job right well,
and that's what her passion outin this right.
Amy (20:59):
Yeah, and I thought that was.
Garry (21:01):
that was really good and I liked.
One of my other scenes is whenthey decide to write the short
story together I thought thatwas such a really cool scene and
when they finish Ashley.
Anna was crying and she waslike this is really good.
(21:22):
And I was was crying and shewas like this is really good and
I I hand to god.
Amy (21:26):
it looked like she was really crying I don't know, it
was towards the end of filming.
That's what I was gonna say.
Was that maybe that was filmingand she was sad, but she really
looked like.
Garry (21:35):
I mean, I don't, I don't know how they filmed it.
Amy (21:37):
But if they filmed it out of sequence and they had, yeah,
they did that one last and theywere.

Well, she's really good at crying man.
Yeah, that was good Because shehad a couple of cries.
I'm telling you she's reallygood, really good.

So the last one I had was the Cyrano de Bergeac type
Roxanne type scene where Ericais trying to feed Anna the lions
while she's with Nico, so it islike that.

She was repeating exactly what she was saying at first.

Which happens, you know, in those type of scenes.
But I thought that was cute.
Yeah, did you have any otherfavorite?

My last favorite scene was whenErica and Nico were at the bar
watching the football game.
Yeah, and Erica and Nico wereat the bar watching the football
game.
Amy (22:21):
Yeah.

And after the game they both looked at each other and
they just had that look.
Yeah, and you're like how manyof those looks are you going to
give each other before?

Yeah, so that was my last .

Yeah, that was pretty cool.

I have all the cheers, barcelona and the spanish music
sprinkled throughout the entiremovie I loved, loved that you, I
like no green screen yeah, Ithink you're right yes, I think
you're right, and if you'rewrong I'm impressed.

That means it was good, I think even that um sky ride,
they get, they got oh, they werereally on.
Amy (23:04):
They were, they were on it, so if there was going to be a
green screen, I would havethought that's where you would
have put.

I love that the romance is animportant part of the movie and
drives the story, but the factthat the developing friendship
between anna and erica is acentral part of the storyline
also is very cool yeah so it'snot just about you know the love
story it's also about thefriendship between the two women

and I think you, you know, Ithink people who like Hallmark
movies will appreciate that youknow very much, because you do
have women who are close friendsand or you meet by chance.

actually seemed more legitimatethan some of the other ones that

Well, you know Ali Sweeney's character, erica, does
take the matter to her ownhands and pretty much writes the
book when she's translating itwrites Anna's book and it is a
big hit in Spain because of itand it's not a hit in America
with Anna's version.
Garry (14:25):
Right right.
Amy (14:25):
But Erica's version.
Garry (14:27):
You know, what was so funny is I was thinking that
they were friends, but they weremad at each other when the
movie first started.
Really, they mentioned thatAnna was going to go to
Barcelona.
She had that.
Erica had that look on her facelike and I thought they were

friends but had fallen out.
Amy (14:49):
But actually she was the ghostwriter, you know what it's
so funny that you say thatbecause I have that in my notes
also that we didn't.
I didn't read the.
Sometimes I do the legworkbefore we watch a film and I'll
write the synopsis down and lookat the actors and everything,
but I hadn't done anythingbefore we watched it the first
time.
Garry (15:06):
Right.
Amy (15:06):
And so I didn't, and we didn't, watch the trailers, so I
really thought that maybe she.
Yeah, there was some beefbetween them Right right.
I just didn't know what.
Because of the way Erica wasacting at the beginning about
the book and about Anna, Ididn't know if they were rivals,
and I too was surprised to findthat out that she was, that she

was a ghostwriter.
Garry (15:29):
Translator speaking of spoilers, I was getting ready to
say that, go ahead we, we aregoing to give away spoilers, so
hit the pause button, go watchthe movie now.
Amy (15:39):
Watch it, it's worth it.
Garry (15:40):
Go watch it and then come back, hit, play, watch it, come
you know, and then drop ussomething on social media.
Let's talk let's talk, let'smaybe you saw something we
didn't, or maybe you probablydid yeah, but um yeah, so I, I
thought that was really cool allright, so you want to get into
our favorite scenes yes, allright.

I mean, there were I reallyenjoyed the whole movie honestly

Um, I have a handful like fourokay that I picked out, but well
, let's go back and forth.
Okay, one and then all right, Ireally liked the meet cute.
Even though it wasn't a meetcute it was me between friends
soon to be friends right, Ithought that was really cute.

So, at the beginning, well,towards the beginning, well, I
guess, yeah, towards thebeginning and um, anna thinks
that erica was sent there to beher assistant so she like asked
her for food or something anderica's like I'm your assistant.
I'm here just to show you aroundand I thought that was really

cute.
So we had a meet cute, just nota romantic one.
So I thought that was reallycool.
Garry (16:51):
Yeah, it was.
It was a really good thing.
Amy (16:54):
It was a cool way to do it.
Garry (16:55):
And I loved how she didn't act like a snob about it.
Amy (17:00):
Right, right, like what.
I don't have an assistant, youknow right she was like oh okay,
I'll just carry my own stuffthen, god, her character was so
good, okay, yeah, what about you?
Garry (17:09):
I actually close to that particular scene was when she
finds out that um erica is thetranslator.
Oh, because?
She knew so much about the bookright.
Amy (17:19):
Right, and she was like what actually?
Do you do, do you do.
Garry (17:24):
Or Anna says that to Erica.
I knew it.
Amy (17:27):
I wondered how they?
Yeah, yeah, because throughoutthat beginning part, like Nico's
telling Anna things about thebook and she's like what?
Garry (17:37):
Yeah, did I write that?
The dolphin.
Amy (17:39):
I remember him writing about a dolphin.
You know, it's just funny.
Garry (17:44):
Yeah, I wonder if he had to spear the fish to make his
food.
Amy (17:47):
Yeah, when she confronts Erica.
Garry (17:48):
Yeah, that was pretty good.
Yeah, that was a good scene.
What else do you have?
Amy (17:52):
I really liked when they found the secret bar.
Oh, that was so cool Becausethey're looking for it that long
.
But they are looking for it andyou know, and I almost said
allison sweeney, but hercharacter, erica, kind of
doesn't believe anna's, like youknow neither does tell you
anything, and he doesn't reallybelieve her and then all of a
sudden they find it.
I just thought it was so cuteand I think it was actually

really.
Um, I think they might havesaid it was actually really a
bar behind something, but Icould be mistaken, but I thought
I heard an interview of themsay that.
Garry (18:22):
But isn't that always the case?
You know you live somewhere andyou think you know all the
nooks and crannies, and thensomebody comes from out of town
and right, oh did you ever go tothis place.
Amy (18:31):
You're like I never even knew about that well, and anna's
so bubbly.
She's like people tell methings, you know, like people
will just.
And her personality invitespeople to tell her things and
she's like see, I like when theygot inside of the little secret
bar or restaurant.
Garry (18:48):
She pulls out her phone and she does a translation, like
I told you.
Amy (18:52):
so In Spanish.
Oh yeah, it was so cute.
Just little quips like that.
What about you?
Another scene.
Garry (18:58):
Yeah, I like how they gave a just kind of shout out to
roxanne.
Amy (19:03):
yes, yes, well, and that's a shout out to cyrano yes, yes
yeah, steve martin, and uh,daryl hannah, I think was in
that steve martin and darylhannah.
Garry (19:13):
Yep, yep, yeah, because I also had the.
Uh, the little secret so what?
Amy (19:17):
when you say the shout out, you mean the actually scene
where they did it, or you justmean when they, when they were
walking?
Garry (19:22):
they were talking about.
I can't remember what Ericasaid Anna Anna was, she was
rattling off some things.
And then they both at the sametime said ooh.
Amy (19:34):
Roxanne, roxanne, oh yeah, yeah, that scene they did, but
the password to get into thatrestaurant was free refills.
Garry (19:44):
Oh, that's right, you had to say free refills, yeah.
Amy (19:46):
Free refills, free refills yeah, when she said that and
they opened it up, that waspretty cute.
Garry (19:48):
They all looked at her like what yeah?
That was cute so yeah, whatelse did you?
Amy (19:52):
have.
I loved all the shots of Annagoing around eating the food and
taking selfies.
It was just really cute and funand I know Ashley Williams has
said that.
You know she's really eatingthe food.
Like a lot of actors and actors, you know when you're in a
scene you don't really eat, butshe was like it was so good she
(20:13):
was actually eating.
Garry (20:15):
She did a really good job of eating and talking.
Amy (20:17):
Yeah, eating and talking.
So I just and I loved all thosescenes because I just think her
personality I have to believeAshley Williams and if she's not
really like this in real life Iwould be shocked, but she just
seems like the most bubblygenuine, you just want to hang
out with her.
Yeah, you just want to hang outwith her, so I thought it was
really cool.
Garry (20:34):
You know, not to get drunk or anything, just to hang
out.
Oh, no, no, no know and eat andbe a foodie with her and go
around and I mean, yeah, she'sjust cool yeah, I also love that
scene too, how she went fromvendor to vendor yeah she was
tasting the food and she'd giveum pieces of it to other people
and take a selfie with them yeah, and I thought that you know,

when you love something, thatshould be your job right well,
and that's what her passion outin this right.
Amy (20:59):
Yeah, and I thought that was.
Garry (21:01):
that was really good and I liked.
One of my other scenes is whenthey decide to write the short
story together I thought thatwas such a really cool scene and
when they finish Ashley.
Anna was crying and she waslike this is really good.
(21:22):
And I was was crying and shewas like this is really good and
I I hand to god.
Amy (21:26):
it looked like she was really crying I don't know, it
was towards the end of filming.
That's what I was gonna say.
Was that maybe that was filmingand she was sad, but she really
looked like.
Garry (21:35):
I mean, I don't, I don't know how they filmed it.
Amy (21:37):
But if they filmed it out of sequence and they had, yeah,
they did that one last and theywere.
Garry (21:41):
Well, she's really good at crying man.
Yeah, that was good Because shehad a couple of cries.
I'm telling you she's reallygood, really good.
Amy (21:51):
So the last one I had was the Cyrano de Bergeac type
Roxanne type scene where Ericais trying to feed Anna the lions
while she's with Nico, so it islike that.
Garry (22:04):
She was repeating exactly what she was saying at first.
Amy (22:07):
Which happens, you know, in those type of scenes.
But I thought that was cute.
Yeah, did you have any otherfavorite?
Garry (22:14):
scenes.
My last favorite scene was whenErica and Nico were at the bar
watching the football game.
Yeah, and Erica and Nico wereat the bar watching the football
game.
Amy (22:21):
Yeah.
Garry (22:22):
And after the game they both looked at each other and
they just had that look.
Yeah, and you're like how manyof those looks are you going to
give each other before?
Amy (22:31):
you realize?
Yeah, before you say somethingto one another.
Garry (22:34):
Yeah, so that was my last .
Amy (22:36):
Yeah, that was pretty cool.
Yeah, yeah, sure yeah.
Garry (22:40):
So do you have any cheers ?
Amy (22:41):
I have all the cheers, barcelona and the spanish music
sprinkled throughout the entiremovie I loved, loved that you, I
like no green screen yeah, Ithink you're right yes, I think
you're right, and if you'rewrong I'm impressed.
Garry (23:00):
That means it was good, I think even that um sky ride,
they get, they got oh, they werereally on.
Amy (23:04):
They were, they were on it, so if there was going to be a
green screen, I would havethought that's where you would
have put.
Garry (23:09):
Yeah, so I am so glad they did not do that just um.
Amy (23:14):
You know, like we said about barcelona, just the scenes
the cities, the, the cathedralthe beautiful, just the
architecture.
All of that just wovebeautifully into the story and
that's what's so cool about likeEurope and over there the
streets?
Garry (23:30):
It's just the architecture.
Amy (23:31):
Yeah.
Garry (23:32):
Architecture and the history.
Amy (23:33):
Well, they're a lot older than us, right?
Well, yeah, I know they got afew years on us Americans here.
Garry (23:40):
Yeah, we don't have a lot of nice buildings that you can
Well we have buildings, they'rejust not as old as you know,
yeah, I mean because we're baby,we're baby I just love their
culture you know, yeah, theyreally take pride in their
things that they believe in.
Amy (23:57):
Another cheer of mine, of course, would be Allison and
Ashley.
They just totally shine in it.

I don't know it's off to them it was just their
friendship shown through.

You know, like you could really just see their friendship
in this and it was so great,you know, and they kind of you,
you know, at the beginning, youknow they had like a little bit
of a banter and then they grewcloser and you could just really
it was just really they weregreat in it.
I really really liked them init.
Garry (24:27):
How about that ham she was carrying around?
Amy (24:30):
I know that was funny.
Garry (24:31):
Was that was, that was a ham.
Yeah, it was a ham, that wasfunny.

There was a scene I forgot.
Oh, what scene was that it waswhen Erica walked up on Anna.
She was at a food truck and shebought something.
She was starting to eat it andshe kept asking her have you
started writing the short story?
And Anna was looking up in thesky and just kept turning around

Every time Erica was asking hersomething she kept turning
around right like completecircle.
Amy (25:06):
I thought that, that was cute.
That was cute.
She's like no, no, no no, I, Iactually do you have any cheers
then that you wanted to?
Garry (25:15):
cheers or cheers cheers, any more cheers because you went
back to a scene so I didn'tknow.
No, I'm sorry.
Amy (25:21):
I I had one more cheer.
I love that the romance is animportant part of the movie and
drives the story, but the factthat the developing friendship
between anna and erica is acentral part of the storyline
also is very cool yeah so it'snot just about you know the love
story it's also about thefriendship between the two women
(25:42):
and I think you, you know, Ithink people who like Hallmark
movies will appreciate that youknow very much, because you do
have women who are close friendsand or you meet by chance.
What does she say?
It was fate in the movie forthem.
Garry (25:56):
Cause she thought fate had brought her there to find
love.
Amy (26:00):
Right.
Garry (26:01):
But that it actually brought her there to become
friends, to find love, right,but that it actually brought her
there to become friends, tofind friendship, right, right,
yeah, I thought that that wasreally really cool, really cool.
Amy (26:09):
And then there was one thing that let me see if I can
find it, what Ashley said, likelaughter is contagious.
Garry (26:18):
Yeah.
Amy (26:19):
Optimism is a choice.
Right and I was like that is sotrue.
Garry (26:23):
It is true.
Amy (26:23):
You know I mean, yeah, you can be down and out, but you
know you also have a choice.
You can make the best of it.
Garry (26:31):
Mateo had said something too.
He was the flower shop friend.
Amy (26:35):
Yeah, we haven't really talked about him.
Garry (26:36):
He was really good.
He was really good.
I liked him.
I was like that yeah, thatlittle angel devil on her
shoulder is like no, no, no, youwrote this, you take ownership.
Amy (26:50):
And he was encouraging Erica to tell Nico how she
really felt about him.
He was like that best friend.
Yeah, I thought that thatworked really well.
Garry (26:59):
Yeah, because he had said something, Because Erica, she
wasn't listening to him and hesaid you know, a ship is safe in
harbor, but that is not whatthe ship was built for.
Amy (27:10):
Right, right, I remember yeah.
Garry (27:13):
He was like set sail, girl set sail.
Amy (27:15):
Because he had the flower shop.
Garry (27:17):
Yeah, he had the flower shop.
And there was one more thingthat one of them said.
I just had it in my head andnow I can't remember what they
said.
Amy (27:26):
There were just some really cute, you know, like Anna at
the table when she was with Nicowas trying to teach her Spanish
and I forget what he says, andAnna laughs and she's like a
little fast for a wedding, don'tyou think?
Oh yeah, Because he says let'sgo to the cathedral.
I think that's what she's likea little fast, you know and
she's just smiling.
It's just so cute, you know.
Garry (27:48):
Oh, I know what it was.
It was when Erica and Nicofinally kind of realized they
loved each other.
Yes, and Erica said somethinglike you know, we both love
words.
Yeah, but we're bad atcommunicating or whatever she
said, so I thought that waspretty cool yeah she did.
Amy (28:08):
She did say that, and that like I love you moment was
actually seemed more legitimatethan some of the other ones that
we've seen, where they've knowneach other for five seconds,
where, here you know, they'veknown each other for like five
years, ten years she's really,you know, into him and he's
really into her.
But neither of them saidanything because he thought she
liked someone else or hobby.
(28:29):
He thought she liked um mateoyeah and you know, mateo's door
swings a different way.
Garry (28:36):
Yeah, right, yeah well, and that's what was funny
because they never gave eachother a flower in a book.
Amy (28:46):
Right right, oh right right During St Jardice.
Garry (28:53):
Yeah, something like that .
I can't remember it, but Ithought it was so funny because
it's like you've known eachother for 10 years and you've
never given each other a floweror a book.
Aw.
Amy (29:08):
Well, and I think at one point Mateo says you know, it's
about friendship too, becauseshe says you don't have to give
me a flower every year to Mateo.
Garry (29:19):
Erica says that to Mateo Right.
Amy (29:21):
And he's like well, it's about friendship, it's not just
about love, yep.
Garry (29:24):
Right.
Amy (29:25):
Erica says that to Mateo Right and he's like well, it's

Yep, right, so I thought it was.
But one more funny little thingis when Anna said when she was
in America she had told herpublisher that because she
couldn't understand why her bookwasn't selling.
And she's like well, did you goon Goodreads?
And she's like I thought youdidn't want me to go on
Goodreads.
Yeah, and she goes.
Well, it's like you.

You know, you wrote a bookwithout being in Barcelona.
She goes well, I use GoogleStreets.
Amy (29:54):
She said I took a tour.

I kind of walked it.
Didn't she say I walked thewhole city, or something?

Yeah, that was really cute.
She's like duh.

Yeah, that was really cute.

I know we were so bummed I mean, it could have gone south
and they didn't give us aspoiler alert.

So I think someone in programming might be in trouble,
