In this episode, Pour the Wine, It’s Rom-Com Time dives into Season 1, Episode 6 of The Chicken Sisters, where the emotional grease fire really starts to sizzle. Amanda is barely holding it together, clinging to happiness like the last crispy drumstick in a family bucket as everything around her crumbles. The long-awaited Kitchen Clash is finally served hot, but instead of a side of friendly rivalry, it’s a full-blown food fight when Frank Jr. loses his cool and the competition boils over. Meanwhile, Mae’s on her own slow-cooked path to redemption, facing the hard truths that can’t just be breaded and deep-fried away. The Chicken Sisters dishes up another episode packed with rivalry, reconciliation, and the spicy, sometimes greasy truths of family ties.

Still too high.

Amy (07:53):
Over 20?
.

Garry (07:55):
No higher.

Amy (07:57):
It's like higher, lower.
What was that?
That was a card shark orsomething.
You put the card over higher, lower.
I don't know.
That was funny shark orsomething.

Garry (08:06):
He flipped the card over high or lower, I don't know.
That was funny.
It was really funny.
No, it's 40.

Amy (08:10):
It's 40.
Over 40, yes, ooh, that'spretty good.

Garry (08:13):
I mean, considering they average about 15 to 20 days of
filming.
Yeah, yeah For a movie, that'sa lot of movies.
Ooh, let's bring it on.

Amy (08:21):
I'm ready for Christmas 2025.

Amy (08:24):
Christmas in July is coming up, and then we have actually
countdown to Christmas and oohyeah, let's go, can't wait.

Garry (08:32):
So it's time to drop the synopsis for season one episode
six.

Amy (08:39):
Oh boy, that was pretty good.
Are we going to jingle all?

Garry (08:42):
the time.
I'm in a good mood today forsome reason, and you haven't
even had a sip of wine yet.

Amy (08:46):
Good grief.

Garry (08:47):
Oh, I did, you just didn't see me do it.
Oh, okay.

Amy (08:49):
Okay, season one, episode six.
I choose to be happy y'all.
Amanda tries her best to behappy despite current events,
but she's not convincing herself.
Meanwhile, the kitchen Clashcompetition comes to a head.

Garry (09:03):
Yes, it does.

Amy (09:05):
Yes, it does.

Garry (09:07):
Man, let me tell you Wait before you say anything.
Okay.

Amy (09:12):
Just know, we'll probably give away some spoilers.

Garry (09:16):
Oh, that's right.

Amy (09:17):
So if you have not watched episode six yet, go watch it and
then come back.
And then come back and listen.
We don't want to give any youand listen.
We don't want to give any.
You know we don't want to spoilthings, but we do talk about a
lot in the episode.

Garry (09:31):
Well, it's kind of hard.
It's kind of hard to not talkabout right, the spoilers right
while you're reviewing these.

Amy (09:36):
It's a little difficult.
Yeah, we try.
Well, we do, but look at itthis way.

Garry (09:42):
see if you're on the same wavelength that we are in
pointing things out or noticingthings throughout the episodes.
Right, that's the way I look atit, right.

Amy (09:51):
All, right, now you may proceed with your thought.
I wanted to give that spoileralert, okay.

Garry (09:56):
Well, I can tell you I really enjoyed watching some of
the characters go through theirpersonal growth in this episode.

Amy (10:04):
Ooh.

Garry (10:04):
You know what I mean.

Amy (10:05):
Yeah.

Garry (10:05):
They really did.
Yes, yes, yes, there was a lotof soul searching.

Amy (10:11):
There was a lot of soul searching Self discoveries.

Garry (10:14):
Deep thoughts Then you mix it with moments of family
betrayal Look at you Familybetrayal, rising health concerns
, and then a little sprinkle, alittle dash of kitchen chaos.
Uh-huh yeah, made this episodepretty good too.
It was a pretty cool episode, wasn't it?
I really enjoyed it.

Amy (10:31):
I mean, I agree.
So we started off this episode.
Amanda's returned home to FrankJr Yep Right at the end of last
episode and she's back into theroutine of everything.
Frank Jr Amanda's listening toa podcast.

Garry (10:44):
Yes, right, frank, jr and amanda's listening to a podcast
yes, it's kind of uplifting.

Amy (10:46):
Well, it's trying to be like make yourself be happy.
Yes, put your shoulders back, look at them.
Here you know, frank jr islistening to a different type of
podcast, having to do with mrchicken right, sabrina and
lindsey bond may's trying tomake amends but you encountering
like that brick wall with herfamily.

Garry (11:08):
And.

Amy (11:08):
Nancy and Gus, learn more about one another.
And we finally get thecompetition.

Garry (11:13):
Finally, the side competition.

Amy (11:17):
Yes, the kitchen clash finally begins.

Garry (11:20):
Well, you know, Frank Jr yeah.

Amy (11:22):
All right, are we going to start with him?
Sure.

Garry (11:24):
Just just, he didn't just cross the line.
Oh man, he sprinted past theline.

Amy (11:32):
Yeah, he's and.

Garry (11:34):
I'm done giving him-.

Amy (11:35):
The benefit of the doubt, the benefit of the doubt.

Garry (11:38):
Okay, he's just a jerk.

Amy (11:40):
Well, you have to wonder what redeeming qualities did he
have that Amanda fell in lovewith?
Was it just, you know, comfort, yeah, and you know she settled.

Garry (11:53):
A way of getting out of her mom's house.

Amy (11:54):
Well, I mean, she said that as much last episode.

Garry (11:57):
Right.

Amy (11:58):
So it was a way, but you know she just settled for a real
ass, I know.
You know, I know, he a real ass, I know you know, I know he
doesn't redeem himself at alland in fact he makes it worse in
this episode.

Garry (12:11):
And the way he treats his mom.

Amy (12:12):
His mom.
Yes, yeah, the things he saysto her and it just, yes, I did
not care for him.
So he's a good actor, becausehe's really making me not like
him.

Garry (12:24):
Yes, me and Frank Jr are awesome On the outs, or on the
outs right now.

Amy (12:29):
That's right, right, right.
Well, speaking of his mom, youknow, nancy, I thought it was
interesting when she kept tryingto talk to him about you know
well, why don't you want to havemore kids?
Kids make a family, and it'sjust a weird.
I mean, yes, kids are lovely, they're great.
Right but not everybody haschildren and not everybody has a

(12:49):
gaggle of children, correct?
You might have one, you mighthave two, you might have 10.
I mean, it doesn't it'swhatever your choice is, but it
doesn't necessarily.
It doesn't you know, as mostpeople know.

Garry (12:58):
Right.

Amy (12:58):
Make your relationship better, right, you know.
It doesn't define you.
You have a child and it's awanted child.
It makes your life richer in alot of ways, but it's hard.
So I guess we're going to findout why Frank Jr really didn't
want more children.

Garry (13:14):
That's going to come out at some point.
But then he fires back at Nancy, saying why did you only have
one child?

Amy (13:19):
Well, he doesn't know that she actually lost one, yeah,
yeah, so it was kind of a momentand she's never spoken about it
obviously to him.

Garry (13:29):
We're probably going to find out about that.
Yeah, we are probably going tofind out about that In the last
two episodes.

Amy (13:33):
Right.
And I just like when she says, too, I may have taken a vacation
.
What does she say?
I may have taken a vacationoutside of my own values.
For a minute I thought thatline was really funny when she
was talking about when she wentto Gus's house with the
hydrangeas and all that jazzlast episode.

Garry (13:51):
So yeah, that was a fun time with her.

Amy (13:57):
And then there was another.
There's another line I have topoint out about Nancy that she
said when her and Gus are are inthere, I guess argument or
they're debating or talking orwhatever, and Gus kind of laughs
at what Nancy says.
And she says is my pain a PaulaPoundstone to you?
And I wonder how many peopleget that, you know, is my pain a
Paula Poundstone to you, and Iwonder how many people get that.
Do you know who?

Garry (14:15):
Paula Poundstone is.
No, I do not.

Amy (14:16):
She was a comedian that was really popular in like the 80s.
No I did not know that I wantto say 80s 90s, maybe late 70s,
but 80s yeah, she was really allthe comedy specials and
everything she was on, so I waslike I wonder how many people
will actually pick up on that.

Garry (14:32):
I thought that was really funny.
Well, I'm not one of thosepeople.
I did.

Amy (14:36):
You are not.
Well, I did.

Garry (14:37):
I picked up on it, not picking up on that.

Amy (14:40):
Yes, sir I haven't thought about her.
I mean yes.
So if you know anything about80s comedy and all that jazz,
you probably remember PaulaPoundstone.

Garry (14:49):
Yeah, that's crazy.
I'm glad you picked that up.

Amy (14:52):
You always pick up things like that yeah, yeah, but Nancy,
yeah, she.

Garry (14:57):
Yeah, she, yeah, we'll talk about her some more as we
go on.
Let's go to May.

Amy (15:05):
Let's go to May, may.
I'm really liking her.

Garry (15:08):
I know, me too, I'm really really liking her a lot.
She's starting to realize youknow why is it that everybody
hates me.
You know, especially withKenneth, I felt that whole scene
.
Yes, when you know, when shefirst went to talk to him and he
was up on the ladder, you knowcleaning and putting things away

(15:31):
talk to him and he was up onthe ladder, you know, cleaning
and putting things away, shedidn't realize.
You know that he was hurt fromher because she was always kind
of, you know, joking hisupcomings, or you know the
people around him, hisupbringing, him staying there
and I think he gave it to her.

Amy (15:49):
He was like you know cause she?

Garry (15:52):
she was just like.
I don't understand why you'remad at me.

Amy (15:56):
Well, I think the tipping point for him was excuse me,
when Patrick says that he had amoment with her and they kind of
bonded, yes, and Kenneth, itseems like, feels like she's not
making the effort with him, like, all these other people are
talking to her and having thesemoments and you know they're

(16:18):
coming around, but there were somany moments in his life that
she missed.

Garry (16:22):
She missed.

Amy (16:23):
And he's harboring that a little bit.
Right, and that's part of whatI was going to say too.
I'm kind of glad you broughtthat up, and that's part of what
I was going to say too.
I'm kind of glad you broughtthat up, not so much about
Kenneth, but about May, in that, you know, it's kind of like it
reminds me of an addict.
Once they're ready and they getclean and they get sober and

(16:44):
they're ready to make amends.

Garry (16:45):
And it's not easy.
No, it's not.

Amy (16:45):
With people that you've hurt over time.
Just because you're readydoesn't mean everybody else is.
Right and don time just becauseyou're ready right doesn't mean
everybody else is right anddon't be mad.
So and may has kind ofencountered that like hey, we're
good I'm cool like it's like notime has passed, but you know.
And so kenneth is like, yeah, but you left yeah and when you
come home you make fun of you'remaking fun of my life here

(17:06):
you're making fun of the peoplehere.
You're joking about it and Idon't appreciate that.
And I think you know may issort of caught in that.
She's, you know, she's reallycoming around to realizing how
she was, she realizes herupbringing, she's trying to make
amends and people aren't havingit yet.
Yeah, and it's, it's sad in someways, but it's also

(17:28):
understandable yeah so it's sortof like this yin and yang for
her and I feel badly for her andI really like her, but people
don't change on a dime yeah, butit was good to see her
realizing, you know, that shegrowing up didn't like her past.

Garry (17:46):
Yeah, and it it kind of destroyed her relationships,
right.

Amy (17:50):
Right, you know with.

Garry (17:51):
Amanda with her mom, with Kenna, with Jay her fiance and
she starts to realize it.
And then when she comes in withthe gifts for Kenna the three
gifts, I thought that was.

Amy (18:03):
Yeah, that was a start.
Yeah, it was a good start.

Garry (18:05):
You know, she brought the flowers because his mom had
passed away.
She brought the blender becauseyou know of his party, bachelor
party, and then she brought theoil or the lotion.

Amy (18:19):
Right, right the lotion, right the special lotion and
then she was like can you be?

Garry (18:23):
honest and just tell me you know what's wrong with me.
And he goes do you want to havelunch Like?

Amy (18:30):
this is a conversation.
This is going to take a longtime, right.

Garry (18:33):
So I thought that was a really good, really good scene.

Amy (18:37):
Yeah, yeah, I mean.
Well, it was the whole, it wasmore than just that scene.

Garry (18:40):
Well, it was two scenes, it was the whole.

Amy (18:42):
Well, yeah, the episode.

Garry (18:43):
Well, between them.

Amy (18:44):
Yeah, and well, yeah between her and Kenneth.
Yeah For sure.
But I don't know the issue withher fiance, I just have to say
I think is because she liedabout where she worked, Right?
Did she lie about where shelived and grew?

Garry (18:57):
up yes.

Amy (18:59):
Where did she say she oh, ok, ok.
So she did lie about where.
Because I was thinking I guessI just overlooked that because I
was thinking, I mean, she liedabout where she worked, I get it
.
She kind of said she was onBroadwayway and she wasn't she
was, but she was working in arestaurant, right, donkeys with
a z you know, and so I just waskind of like, why is that a big
deal?
But I, I guess I get right.

(19:19):
She lied about where she grewup.

Garry (19:21):
I I forgot about that yeah, because she felt like if
she lied then he would love her.
But then right when he fell inlove with her.
She didn't know which right nomay he fell in love with her.

Amy (19:32):
she didn't know which you know may.
He fell in love with Right.
You know Right, and that thatweighed on her.
And that's what Kenneth said.

Garry (19:38):
Yeah.

Amy (19:38):
I don't know.

Garry (19:39):
Yeah, Basically.

Amy (19:41):
I don't know who you are.

Garry (19:42):
Yeah, which may are you?
It's like you.
You shut people out fromknowing May in the past, but you
also keep people out fromknowing the new May.
And I thought that was a prettygood way to explain it to her.

Amy (19:59):
Pretty profound right.

Garry (20:00):
Yes profound people.
So let's move on to Amanda inMay.

Amy (20:05):
Amanda in May.

Garry (20:07):
Yeah, I thought that scene outside with the car was
pretty funny.

Amy (20:14):
So Amanda comes out and approaches Mae.
Yes, because she's mad and Maehas no idea what's going on
Right and she's like what freshhell is this?
That was funny, you know, that's what Mae says yeah, what
fresh hell is this?

Garry (20:24):
That was so funny and it's interesting because they
started yelling at each other, you know, telling the other that
they were like Mom.

Amy (20:34):
Oh yeah, yeah, that was a funny scene and it was some deep
cups.

Garry (20:38):
And what was funny is the one when Amanda says you know
you have wrinkles on yourforehead and May lost it.

Amy (20:47):
That's the one that got to May.

Garry (20:49):
Yeah, it's like you, crossed the line.

Amy (20:53):
Yeah, that part was so funny because that was the one
that got to may.
Yeah, it's like you crossed theline.
Yeah, that part was so funnybecause that was the one that
set her off everything else shekind of just brushed off, and
those were the deeper ones, youknow, but it was when amanda
says the ring, yeah, like yourforehead, or whatever about the
wrinkles and she was like you'vegone too far.
Yeah, that was a pretty, thatwas a pretty funny scene.

Garry (21:09):
And and then Sergio coming out, coming out, yeah,
Telling them both to calm itdown, because you know the
cameras might be rolling.

Amy (21:17):
Right, how would?

Garry (21:19):
it.
Look with you guys fighting andthem filming it you know Right,
yeah, that was a good scene.

Amy (21:24):
Well, and the anger there too is about Amanda finds out
that her daughter wants to go toNew York City and she had no
idea.
Yeah, and she was going to goto New York City and stay with
May, and May had offered up herplace.
And I did kind of like when Maywas like, well, would you
rather me have her stay in aplace with Bedbug Sure.
You know, like no problem.

Garry (21:44):
She can be in New York by herself, central Park yeah.

Amy (21:47):
No problem.
So I thought that was yeah, Ino problem.

Garry (21:49):
So I thought that was.
Yeah, I mean you know, we get.
We get angry at the silliestthings, don't we?
Well, sometimes.

Amy (21:54):
But they're not silly at the time.

Garry (21:56):
Well, you need perspective and time sometimes
to get away from things and lookback.
So then let's go into thatscene with Amanda and Frankie.

Amy (22:11):
So that's a good.
That's a good scene that we cango into then, because we're
talking about Amanda and she.
She was upset about frankie, not that frankie wanted to go,
but that frankie didn't tell her, right, she wanted to go and
she was mostly hurt by that partof it.
And so they're driving home, frankie and amanda, and you know
they're discussing the new yorkcity scene and I thought it was
a a pretty profound scenebetween the two of them, right,
because they they havemisconceptions about one another

(22:34):
.

Garry (22:35):
Yes, which was kind of funny because you know Amanda.
When they were younger, mayleft, went to New York, made a
life of her.
Right or May did, may left andthen Amanda stayed, you know,
for one reason or another.
Maybe she was scared, maybe shedidn't, you know, want to
reason, or another.
Maybe she was scared, maybe shedidn't, you know, want to put
herself out there like May did.

(22:55):
And now that her daughter wantsto do the same thing as her
aunt, it, I don't know if it ithurt her feelings or she was
scared, maybe both.
She was scared for her daughterbeing in a big city by herself.

Amy (23:09):
Well, I think I think she was, and she said she's afraid
to let her go out on her ownbecause she's like what happens
if you get hurt.
What happens if you don't makeit?
What happens if?
And so you can really see whereAmanda stays, because she's
comfortable.
She doesn't want to takechances, big chances, because

(23:30):
what if you get hurt?
She just doesn't have thatpersonality like May.
Where May's out there, may'slike I'm gone, Bye.

Garry (23:37):
I'll see you later.

Amy (23:37):
I'll make it or break it, I'll work at donkeys, I'll do
what I need to do, whereasAmanda's, like you know, she'd
rather play it safe, and a lotof people, a lot of people are
like that.
There's nothing wrong with that, but a lot of people are like
that and I think that she justand she said she couldn't
protect her from getting hurtand that's what she wanted to do
, and that probably has to dowith her own relationship with

(23:59):
her mother, with Gus and youknow and all that jazz, because
she and how about the line when?

Garry (24:05):
she says when Amanda tells Frankie haven't you heard
of unconditional love?

Amy (24:11):
Yeah.

Garry (24:12):
And then Frankie goes well, may is your sister and Gus
is your mom.
Where's the unconditional lovethere?
Well, she says it doesn'texactly run in our family.

Amy (24:20):
The unconditional love.

Garry (24:22):
And she's right.

Amy (24:23):
She's right and Frankie feels like that's where Amanda's
afraid to let her go andFrankie feels like, if she goes,
the reason why she didn't talkto her is because her mom would
be mad at her like she was madat May for leaving.

Garry (24:38):
Exactly.

Amy (24:39):
And kids think like that.
They can't understand thatyou're their kid and, of course,
your parents are going to loveyou and they may be upset with
you, but they're going to loveyou no matter what.
So, yeah, that was a reallyreally powerful scene.
Yeah, for sure.

Garry (24:52):
Yeah, well, speaking of kids, and moms, let's go to
Sabrina and Lindsay.

Amy (24:59):
Sabrina and Lindsay.
Oh, yeah, they had a good, theyhad some moments, yeah, they
did this time around.
So this episode you really seeSabrina kind of excited when
Lindsay wants to go to work withher and that's kind of cool
because parents, you know we'renot cool to our kids a lot.
So I think Sabrina felt like,oh yay, she wants to go to work
with me.

Garry (25:18):
Yay, let's bring a child to work with me.
And.

Amy (25:19):
Lindsay goes to work with her mom and she gives great
feedback to her mom.

Garry (25:24):
Yeah.

Amy (25:24):
And her mom really appreciates it and she's really
excited.

Garry (25:31):
And then they have the kitchen clash.
Yeah, the kitchen clash.

Amy (25:32):
And there ends up being a fight.
There ends up being a fight andher mother, instead of having
the camera stop she wants thecameras rolling and Lindsay.

Garry (25:45):
Was like here we go again , Right, right we're out.

Amy (25:47):
Bye.
Well, Lindsay, then yeah, kindof realizes we go again.

Garry (25:48):
Right, right, we're out, bye.

Amy (25:49):
Well, lindsay then yeah, kind of realizes what she does,
right, it's kind of likesalacious.

Garry (25:54):
And she doesn't like it.
She wants to fight she doesn'treally like it and yeah, she
leaves.
That was terrible.

Amy (26:01):
Right, but it also pays her bills, that's true.

Garry (26:04):
It's like Gets her nice fancy shoes.
Kind of reminded me of JerrySpringer a little bit.
Yeah, it kind of got there, that kitchen clash.

Amy (26:11):
Kind of got there a little bit, a little bit.

Garry (26:14):
But did you notice when Frank Jr hit Sergio, whose name
Amanda called out, it was Sergio.

Amy (26:25):
Oh no, I didn't notice that .
Oh well, you know, there's alittle fire burn there.
I think a little fire.
I did not notice that.

Garry (26:36):
Well, and what's funny is , after all of that chaos that
went on when it started tosettle down, then you get Nancy,
Gus and Amanda together.

Amy (26:47):
Yeah, Well, can we go back to the kitchen clash itself with
.

Garry (26:50):
Frank Jr yeah.

Amy (26:50):
That's kind of where he gets mad that he doesn't win.

Garry (26:53):
Oh yeah.

Amy (26:54):
And he's for that particular part of the
competition and he gets reallyupset and then he blames his mom
.
I know, I mean, he's just sucha spoiled brat.
He is he really is, and youwonder what I mean.
If he's like that, you wonderabout his dad.

Garry (27:07):
Yeah, and all Sergio was like is don't treat your mom
like that.
And then that set Frank off.
Yeah, that's where you get thatwhole fight scene.

Amy (27:15):
But yeah, he's a little crybaby.
So you were saying and then weget to the scene where it's Gus,
nancy and Amanda and Amanda.

Garry (27:24):
And that's where you find out the true.
What happened between Nancy Gusand Frank Sr?
Right, right, do you want totalk about that?
Find out the truth.
The spoiler.

Amy (27:36):
The spoiler.
It's a spoiler.
Well, they imply up to thatpoint.
Nancy thinks that her husbandhad a tryst with Gus right
before they got married.

Garry (27:47):
Because he told her that.

Amy (27:48):
Because that's true, that's Because he told her that,
because, oh, that's true, that'swhat he told her.
Yeah, so he.
But and that's so interestingto me because Gus actually says
he wanted my business- yeah.
He wanted to take everythingaway from me.
He wanted my house or-.

Garry (28:01):
He wanted to put us out on the street.

Amy (28:03):
He wanted to put us out on the street and Nancy.
But it's interesting to me thatfrank senior would instead say
he was having an affair rightinstead of you know what I mean
like it's just like he thoughtthat was better, the better out
than just saying you know, Ireally want everything.
I want meemees, I want to takeover the town or whatever it was

(28:24):
you know I mean, I don't know,but I just found that
fascinating.
Like he, he thought the thebetter route was.
Well, I, you, I you know had ahad an affair with her before we
were married and uh yeah.

Garry (28:35):
Well, I think, I think it was more so that Nancy would
hate Gus.

Amy (28:41):
Oh, that's a good point, because if he would have told
her what he was doing.
I would have felt sorry, Iwould have been like no, you're
not going to do that.
You know what?
That's a really good point.
Look at you.
That's a really good point.
Woo, woo.
Yeah, it would make her reallyhate Gus and that's caused all
that tension for 30 years orwhatever.

Garry (28:59):
And it was funny because Amanda threw her two cents in
there.
Gus goes.
She's like well, why would youdo that?
Or why would you say that?

Amy (29:16):
It's men, he's a man.

Garry (29:19):
He's a man.

Amy (29:20):
So why would he say he had an affair and then she walks in
between them to go out?

Garry (29:24):
And then she has that little stumble.
Oh yeah, and that's when Amandagoes.
Is something wrong?
What's up?
And Gus was like mind yourbusiness.

Amy (29:33):
Well, that's kind.
Of that leads us into Gus thenso you find out and we have been
mispronouncing a name.

Garry (29:38):
Yeah, Gen.

Amy (29:39):
It's Gen.
We've been saying Jen.

Garry (29:41):
Yes, we've been saying Jen, sorry about that Gen.

Amy (29:44):
So it's again yes, so you do find out that she's Gus, is
not sleeping with him, andbreaking up that marriage, which
I, you know, didn't think shewas.
But I didn't know, honestly, what the explanation was going
to be.

Garry (29:59):
Yeah.

Amy (29:59):
So I'm glad that I'm not glad, but I'm thinking like
rheumatoid arthritis orsomething.

Garry (30:03):
That's what it seems like .

Amy (30:04):
That's what my guess is yeah, stress and so he's giving
her massages and she doesn'twant to go to his place in town
because then everybody will knowher business and she's had
enough of that for her life.

Garry (30:15):
But let's go into a freezer, you know, and that's
not Right and make it look, butSergio knows.
Yeah.

Amy (30:21):
Sergio.
Sergio knows, and I liked howthey did talk about how Gus let
those men in.

Garry (30:26):
Yes.

Amy (30:26):
Patrick and Kenneth and Sergio, and she does have this
soft spot, but she just won'tshow it enough.
She just won't do it.

Garry (30:34):
Well, she shows it to them.
She just doesn't show it to herdaughters, to her daughters,
right?
And that's the sad thing, yeah.

Amy (30:41):
And then Amanda goes to Gus's house to check on her and
Gus won't answer the door andyou can see she's struggling
with.
She wants to, but she can't getout of her own way.
She won't, she won't do it.
She won't open the door becauseof the hoarding and all of that
, and there not being any room.

Garry (30:57):
So yeah, and then you know, of course, amanda, after
she leaves her mom's house, goesto the restaurant and who's
there waiting?
Sergio goes to the restaurant, and who's there?

Amy (31:08):
waiting Sergio Sergio?
Well, he's not really waitingfor her.

Garry (31:10):
He's just cleaning up, right, she comes in and says you
know where's my mom?
And he's like no, she's at homein bed, you know sleeping.
And then Amanda goes into.
You know her projection of.

Amy (31:28):
Sergio, yeah.

Garry (31:29):
How he's kissed so many women.

Amy (31:30):
Yes, yes.

Garry (31:32):
You know there's that.
Don't judge a book by its coverRight right.
And then what does Sergio do?
Sergio, being the nice man thathe is, he says come, let's go
on a ride.
I want to show you something,Because she thinks he's just
there.
You know, Maranac's just astepping stone for him.

Amy (31:52):
He's going to move on.
He's going to move on to biggerand better things, right.

Garry (31:54):
But he actually takes her on a drive to a field that has
a soul sign in it and it's wherehe's building.
He's going to build his housebecause he loves Maranac and he
wants to stay.

Amy (32:05):
He wants to put down roots and stay and that's going to be
good or bad for Amanda, maybeboth.

Garry (32:10):
Yes, I don't know.

Amy (32:11):
That's going to cause.
Yes yes, that's going to causea lot and you know, I like when
he says to her that he's neverbeen dumped by voicemail.
Oh, that was so funny you know, because she had called him in
the last episode.
Was it last one or?
ago where she calls him and saysyou know I can't see you
anymore and you know last nightwas a mistake and you know
whatever, and um, and then hegives the thumbs up.

(32:33):
So so he's like I've never beendumped by a voicemail, and it
reminded me of sex in the city, the episode where, um, she gets
dumped by a post-it.
Remember the post-it dump?
Yeah, that's, that was what mymind immediately went to.

Garry (32:52):
Yeah, that was funny.

Amy (32:52):
Anyway, that's just a little Sex and the City
shout-out.

Garry (32:55):
And then one thing leads to another and Sergio leans in
to give her a kiss.
But oh, wait a minute, he can't, because he still has a
seatbelt.

Amy (33:04):
Right right, the seatbelt catches him up.

Garry (33:06):
That was funny.
That was a funny scene.

Amy (33:08):
Well, we're going to see what ends up happening.
I mean, I don't know, you knowthe whole affair of it all.
I don't know.
We'll see kind of where it goesand you can kind of see.
But you can see where peopleare unhappy and then you start
to make decisions that aren'tnecessarily the best for you,
but you are unhappy and you know.

Garry (33:29):
Yeah, I agree with you, so we'll see.
And then we come to the finalscene where you know there's a
car pulling up to a field, to aphone booth Right, right, right,
well, and Frank Jr is Frank Jr.
And he's listening to thepodcast and he gets out and it's
like a Macho man podcast orsomething.
It's really weird Pump my chest.

Amy (33:47):
He gets out and it's like a macho man podcast or something.
It's really weird.

Garry (33:49):
You're the king of your castle and take crap from no one
mr chicken, yeah, yeah, and,and you're not sure what he's
gonna do, right so well, youthink he's gonna see amanda, and
that's what I thought.

Amy (34:02):
Yeah, that's exactly what I thought.

Garry (34:03):
But what does he do?
He gets into the phone booth, right.

Amy (34:08):
Who has a phone booth anymore?
Oh, maranac, in the middle of afield.
Well, I mean, it is Maranac, right?
Yeah, it's a southern town.
A town that doesn't even havestop signs but they had a phone
booth in the middle of a fieldGo figure it out.
Yeah, I thought that was.
And he had quarters.
Who has quarters?

Garry (34:22):
And who does he call?

Amy (34:26):
Well, he could get tips.
Now I'm thinking about it.
I'm sorry.

Garry (34:28):
No, totally.
He calls the health inspectoron Gus Yep.
He's dead to me, he's dead tome.

Amy (34:36):
He's dead to you, Frank Jr.
You are dead to us.
Yeah, you turned Gus in and youknow the best part of all this
is the narrator.
She did a really good job.

Garry (34:45):
Yeah, she's so good In every one of these scenes she's
so good, she just teed it up andthen the scene happened and it
was great.

Amy (34:53):
Yeah, I love her too.
Is Gus getting her biscuitbuttered?
That's what she said, that'swhat the narrator says.
And what did she say?
Like, I'm just going to let youknow, like she's.
Like, I'm going to tell youwhat's going on You've waited
long enough, or whatever it's sogood.

Garry (35:07):
It's so good.
That was really good.

Amy (35:10):
Yep, yep, yep.

Garry (35:11):
Yeah Well.

Amy (35:12):
Well, that was.
That's a lot for episode six.

Garry (35:15):
That was a fun episode, so we have two more episodes,
it's going to be veryinteresting to see where things
go.
I'm ready for the cook-off.
I want to know whose chicken'sbetter chicken?

Amy (35:29):
I know, I know and I'm curious is sabrina gonna stay
for a while, right?
Is she gonna come back?

Garry (35:32):
will she be in season two ?
I don't know.
Will she fall in love with thehandyman?

Amy (35:34):
will she fall in love with gruster?
Gruster right right, we didn'tsee him at all.
Whatever his name, we didn'tsee him at all.
No or not the season?

Garry (35:42):
yeah, we didn't we didn't see shauna either, or the
pastor, or the pastor.
Yeah, I think that's wherenancy's needs to come.

Amy (35:48):
We need more of Shauna.

Garry (35:49):
I know, I don't know why they don't put her in there.

Amy (35:52):
I don't know.

Garry (35:53):
She's funny.

Amy (35:54):
She's really funny.
Maybe she'll get more air timein season two.

Garry (35:58):
Yeah, let's hope so.

Amy (36:00):
With all of her little businesses and side deals Out of
five corks.

Garry (36:04):
what would you give this one?

Amy (36:06):
I would give this one.
I thought it was really good.
I'd probably give it a four anda half.

Garry (36:11):
Nah, I'm going to give it a five.

Amy (36:12):
You're going to go for a five?
Yeah, because I man.

Garry (36:14):
Frank made me hate him in this episode.

Amy (36:16):
I know last episode was so good, though, coming off of that
, it was good.
Frank Jr was good.
Yeah, he was good, he was good.

Garry (36:23):
