Sermons from the pulpit of Trinity Baptist Church of Westfield, IN.
At the conclusion of a series of busy days, Jesus is still focused on people and their needs. Jesus cares about the physical needs of people, but it is the spiritual needs that He is most concerned with. Always tender and compassionate, we should mirror His service in our own lives.
This simple passage contains a profound truth within its five short verses. The statement is one of power that every Christian needs to understand. It involves our faith, our obedience, and our love.
Jesus had several times during His public ministry that were prolonged and busy. The passage we will study brings us to the conclusion of one of those busy times. Yet, in a time of prolonged activity, we still find Jesus in absolute control in displaying both His humanity and His divinity.
Understanding the love of God is pivotal for His followers. To fail to possess God’s love means we cannot love as God loves. To possess God’s love means the world around us can see His transformative power. Be challenged as we study this passage to look and act more like God, who loves us.
Jesus Christ gave many parables concerning our task of being evangelistic to the world around us. We are called to be light, properly reflecting His grace to a dark and sinful world.
It doesn’t matter what the world thinks of you. It matters what the world thinks of Christ. Is this a statement that you can identify with and live out? This passage will challenge us about our identity and where it is placed.
The story of the sinful woman and her repentance offers us both encouragement and condemnation. However, this account should leave us longing for a deeper relationship with Christ. Enjoy this study as we relate it to our own lives, answering the question, “How does your love for God and others reveal how much you have been forgiven?"
Jesus is the light of the world. The world is dark and full of sin, but Jesus Christ came into the world to remove people from darkness and give them a new life. However, what will we do with our new life? Will we share the light?
A theological breakdown of the song "Hark the Herald Angels Sing".
The life of Jesus threatened many people. We know that Herod and the religious leaders of Jesus’ day were terrified that He would undermine their authority. His very existence threatened their way of life. Does the same thing happen today?
We all have expectations of how God will act, what He will be to and for us. John the Baptist was no different. At the end of his life, he had some doubts about Christ. This is a challenging passage, but if we deal with it honestly, it should encourage us to press forward alongside Christ.
Often, Christians get confused about the purposes of the Old and New Testaments. Yet a deeper study of the Old Testament reveals a clear storyline of grace and redemption that continues into the New Testament. The Spark of Promise in the Old Testament is fully revealed in the New Testament.
Sermon from our Missionary Frank Frausto.
Life is full of struggle and sometimes trauma. Join us as Pastor Minton shares the harrowing story of his near-death and the theological impact it had upon him. Be encouraged and challenged to deepen your own understanding of God’s character.
We all struggle with times of brokenness, disappointment, stress, and pain. When we struggle, we may not seek out help, but we often need someone to come alongside us to restore us to health and safety. Christ calls the mature people of the church to be the hands and feet of Christ in these moments. Join us as God challenges us to help restore our fellow sinners.
The desire for a close fellowship with God is a good indication of a changed heart. A heart that the love of God has transformed will be a heart that is assured by God’s many promises. Be encouraged by this section of 1 John that gives us both assurance of our standing before God and a call to close fellowship with God.
Week 8 of Dr. Steve Dolvin's series on the Parables of Jesus.
After the challenge in the previous section about our confidence being in the Lord, John turns our hearts back to our actions of love. This singular mark stands out among all others as Christians live out their faith. However, we know that the definition of love the world gives is vastly different from the one Christ gives. Join us as we study the love of Christ on display in our lives.
Week 7 of Dr. Steve Dolvin's series on the parables of Jesus.
