DATE: June 27, 2025
SHOW: Prelude to Positivity
Producer: Tommy Geraci
HOST: Tommy Geraci
GUEST: Jim Verraros
Jim Verraros is an American singer, songwriter, and actor. He gained fame as a contestant on the first season of American Idol. Raised by deaf parents, he is fluent in American Sign Language and has been an influential figure in the gay community since coming out publicly in 2009. Verraros released his debut album, Rollercoaster, in 2005, and has since performed at numerous pride events and toured at gay clubs. He has also appeared in films such as Eating Out and Eating Out 2.
Jim was the first (and possibly only) contestant to sign his lyrics for his Idol audition and, I believe, also the first of the Idol alumni to publicly come out.
Here, we discuss his experience on Idol and his career since, as well as new music coming in August, and a lot more.
I got to know a few new things about Jim during this interview and it reinforced, for me, why we should continue to forge ahead as a community. It also reinforced why I have felt we owe Jim gratitude for paving the way for others to follow and for remaining true to himself always. Instagram
