(00:30):
Listen wherever you like. I'm talking about every game
from Tuesday night up until Thursday night.
That's a total of 6 games. This will be Part 1 of Week 8
college football, giving you a preview of every game, dishing
(00:52):
out my picks, and of course, thebest bets.
Let's get it going tonight, October 14th, 2025, we have New
Mexico State up against Liberty. This is at 6:00 PM.
Watch it on CBS Sports Network. Total set at 48 1/2 and the New
(01:14):
Mexico State Aggies are the plus10 1/2 underdogs at the spread
as well as the plus 320 underdogs on the money line.
This is going to be a high scoring affair in my opinion.
You have two teams that are ready to explode on a Tuesday
night over 48 1/2. I love that.
(01:36):
I do believe Liberty wins this game.
There's just too much going for them right now.
But let's not count New Mexico State out.
I like New Mexico State plus 10 1/2 on the spread.
Let's talk about how they get that done.
Their quarterback Logan Fight 6 touchdowns, 4 interception ratio
(01:57):
is not good, but he's 98 for 172with 1272 passing yards.
Compare that with Liberty who's such a big favorite in this game
two and four on the season and their quarterback has a six
touchdown to three interception ratio with only 1006 passing
yards. He has 74 for 129 passing
(02:23):
completions and when you look atthe running game for Liberty,
this is where people think they're going to get the most
bang for their buck. Looking at this rushing attack
for Liberty with Evan Dickens carrying this football 65 times
for 344 rushing yards and two touchdowns, he will have the
(02:47):
compliments of Dante Lee Junior at wide out 12 catches, 3
touchdowns and 289 yards receiving.
These are teams that are very quick on offense, haven't been
able to have the type of successthat they've wanted this year
and now here's an opportunity for them to take out a little
(03:07):
bit of their frustrations on each other and see who will be
better. I really think plus 10 1/2 for
New Mexico State is my best bet.I love the over at 48 1/2.
I don't think the defenses play that much of a factor.
I'm looking for points and bunches in this game.
(03:27):
I believe both teams at week 8 now have enough to get us over
the hump. Next up, we have Arkansas State
for South Alabama, and this is the Red Wolves up against the
Jaguars. All teams have not played to the
level they could have so far this year.
(03:51):
Watch it on ESPN 2 kick off at 6:30 PM.
If this game's more your speed, I understand we're going to
really hammer this one away. Arkansas State is 2 and four,
South Alabama's one and five total at 58 1/2.
The Arkansas State Red Wolves are plus 7 1/2 at the spread and
the South Alabama Jaguars are -275 on the spread.
(04:15):
That puts Arkansas State at plus225 on the money line.
There's a lot of reason to believe that this game will go
over. However, I want to discuss more
about this game before I dish out any picks.
Arkansas State coming off a big win, 31 to 30 against Texas
State. We see that the defenses aren't
(04:37):
holding, but the offenses are moving along pretty well.
Now. South Alabama has competed in
about every game, just come up short, and in their last game
against Troy, they lose 31 to 24in overtime.
I think the under is more predictable here.
(04:58):
I think you get the under 58 1/2.
This thing opened at 57 1/2 and moved up a point.
I don't really care for that. I think the offenses need a
little time to get going and thedefenses, even though they're
not that good, are going to be under some pretty big lights
tonight and I think they will stand up early on.
(05:23):
You have a quarterback on Arkansas State and Jalen Rayner,
148 for 221, eight touchdowns for interceptions, 1451 passing
yards. They're running back Devin
Spencer, 43 carriers, a touchdown, 200 rushing yards.
You could start to see that thisis a team that leads through the
air. Their receiver has 406 receiving
(05:46):
yards, Chauncey Cobb 34 receptions.
That's showing me that they favor one guy over most
everybody. Same thing on the other side.
When you look at South Alabama and what I really understand
about the South Alabama team with Bishop Davenport, who's 96
for 149, nine touchdowns, 400 receptions, 1063 passing yards.
(06:10):
Then you look at the running back Kentrell Bullock, 108
carries, 496 rushing yards and five touchdowns.
He's going to look to put it on this Arkansas State defense.
I can see why South Alabama is favored at home.
We know that South Alabama is going to be able to run the ball
pretty well against this Arkansas State team.
(06:32):
It's more of a reason to like the under as a lot of time is
going to get spent doing that. Then you factor in a lot of the
other things that are going to take place in this game.
But I do believe the best bet isArkansas State plus 7 1/2.
And I do think South Alabama wins this game and the under
cash is in for us. And then we could step on, move
(06:54):
to that third game for tonight, Tuesday night, and they'll be
plenty of time to hear this podcast before the game kicks
off. And if this falls in your
rotation sometime long after on Pandora or some other Internet
radio service or podcast platform, God bless you.
We have the Florida International Panthers versus
(07:17):
the Western Kentucky Hilltoppersof this game.
I'm going to shape a little bit differently.
I think this is more of a blowout.
Watch it on ESPNU. It may not turn into a blowout,
but there's a reason to watch this game either way.
Kick off at 7:00 PM. Again, you can watch it on ESPN
(07:37):
University. Great channel.
Florida International. Not very impressive this year.
The last two years they sort of had a team recruiting didn't
kind of go their way. Total of 55 1/2.
I'll tell you right now that's going over.
Western Kentucky will push this their five and one, three and O
in their conference. Florida International plus 9 1/2
(08:01):
at the spread for Western Kentucky is going to dominate
this game. Western Kentucky has a good
quarterback and Maverick Mcivor,he's going to ball out this
game. 151 for 200 and 2312 touchdowns, 2 interceptions,
1704 passing yards. Got to like that.
(08:23):
He's spreading the ball around. On the other side, you have
Florida International, you know,their quarterback.
I'm not against this guy. Keon Jenkins 88 for 142
touchdowns for an exception, 775passing yards.
It's just not there. But the running back is really
good Key. John Owens, 76 carries, 5
touchdowns, 463 rushing yards. I do think this is a blowout, so
(08:49):
I'm going to say Western Kentucky covers that -9 1/2.
It's opened at -8 1/2. I do like Western Kentucky to
clean house, win this game pretty easily.
Total goes over 55 1/2, even if it has to happen in garbage
time. The over is coming through
tonight in that game. Moving to Wednesday night's
(09:11):
action. Again, Wednesday night's action,
so tomorrow, 6:00 PM. Watch it on ESPN.
You're going to have the Delaware Blue Hens, very good
team up against the JacksonvilleState Gamecocks.
This is not a bad Jacksonville State team.
This game will be fairly close, but Delaware's really good.
(09:36):
Those two losses are like blinksof an eye to this team.
Three and two Delaware, three and three Jacksonville.
Total set at 57 1/2. Jacksonville State is the plus 2
1/2 underdogs at the spread and the plus 120 money line
underdogs. There's going to be an
(09:57):
opportunity maybe to get a plus point on Delaware or 1 1/2
points on Delaware. There may be an opportunity
depending how this sizes up at game time.
Let's be real. You have Jacksonville State, who
was barely able to beat the worst team in college football.
(10:18):
Same Houston Bearcats. God bless that same Houston
team. But they are the worst team in
college football. And you know it's not their
fault entirely. They have effort and they try,
so they're not bad. They're just not winning.
When you look at that Jacksonville State quarterback
and compare him to Delaware's quarterback, you really can't.
It's like apples to oranges. Nick Minucci, 120 for A1868
(10:44):
touchdowns, 3 interceptions, 1379 passing yards and he's
literally tossing the ball like a rocket compared to
Jacksonville State who just plays so lackadaisical with
their quarterback. Gavin Winsat, 58 for 104
passing, 2 touchdowns, 2 interceptions and 576 passing
(11:08):
yards. I mean, it's not even close.
They're trying to do everything through their running back Camp
Cook, 142 carries, 7 touchdowns,832 rushing yards.
He's definitely getting close tothe 1000 yard mark.
He will get there. On the other side, you have Joe
Silver, the running back for Delaware, who's also good.
They use kind of a myriad of running backs, but he's their
(11:30):
lead back with three touchdowns,62 carries and 373 rushing
yards. And at receiver, this is who you
got to look out for. Kyrie Duplessis, 22 receptions,
2 touchdowns, 340 receiving yards.
He's going to be a monster in this game.
Jacksonville State doesn't have anybody to match up with him.
(11:54):
I believe Delaware wins. They cover the -2 1/2.
This total goes way over 57 1/2.That's my best bet.
But I also really like Delaware to win on the money line.
If that sizes up a little bit more closer to a pick em, I
(12:14):
would slam it home. Next up, UTEP versus Sam
Houston, who we just talked about.
How about those Sam Houston Bearcats?
You know what, it's time for them to turn things around,
isn't it? UTEP is 1 and five.
They, they used to be a team last 3-4 years, they would just
(12:34):
score. If it was just a a regular team,
average team around their level, their skill level, they would
just score a ton of points, 40 points, 30 points, We'd get a
ton of points out of Utah. Now it's a dry run.
Something has to change. The Utah Miners are a points
team. We need points with you guys.
Sam Houston, Well, I think at one point they had a pretty
(12:58):
decent defense, but they never really had a ball out offense or
anything like that. But I see such an improvement in
their last game and UTEP is justtaking steps back.
Here's the time where Sam Houston can become not the worst
team and UTEP will be the worst team after this game.
That's what I think is going to happen.
(13:20):
Hunter Watson quarterback for Sam Houston.
This is going to kick off tomorrow at 6:00 PM Wednesday
night. Total at 47 1/2 Sam Houston plus
2 1/2 on the spread and 1 + 120 on the money line.
Hunter Watson, that 4 touchdown to three interception ratio.
Don't even pay attention to the stats.
(13:41):
You have Hunter Watson trying todo it all for Sam Houston on
offense and Malachi Nelson who has some some help with Utah.
This game goes under 47 1/2 Sam Houston wins plus 2 1/2.
They cover and we just step on. We just step on from that
because I don't want to dampen the mood, right?
(14:04):
I want Sam Houston to go get a win and feel good about it and I
actually think they will. This is the perfect time to
strike for them. Last game, this is Thursday
night. I'm going to come back with
Friday night and Saturday picks on the next college football
podcast this week that will be out by Thursday.
(14:26):
Last game I'm going to talk about for this episode. 6:30 PM
kickoff. Watch it on ESPN Thursday night.
This is the only Thursday night game in college football.
Total set of 53 1/2 between Tulsa and East Carolina.
Tulsa is the plus 17 1/2 underdogs at the spread and the
plus 550 underdogs at the money line.
(14:50):
Both teams are going to be firing on all cylinders for this
game. This is a really good game for
both of these teams, but East Carolina is just light years
better. Kate and Howser, the quarterback
for East Carolina, he's pretty good. 142 for 210 passing, 8
(15:11):
touchdowns, 4 interceptions, 1689 passing yards.
He gets to hand it off. The London Montgomery is a good
back, 60 carries, 240 rushing the ball and two touchdowns and
then they have a stub wide receiver with over 400 yards
receiving. Anthony Smith, 30 catches, 1
touchdown. He's going to get them in the
(15:32):
range they need to continue to score in the red zone.
Defense won't be much of a factor.
I like the over 53 1/2 love Tulsa to cover plus 17 1/2 E
Carolina wins. But I will mention a couple
things about Tulsa quarterback Baylor Hayes, 77 for 126, four
(15:53):
touchdowns, 3 interceptions, 787passing yards.
He will be handing off to Dominic Richardson. 112 carries,
2 touchdowns, 538 rushing yards. And then they have their top
receiver, Zion Booker, 35 catches, 1 touchdown, 294
receiving yards. They're looking to have a better
(16:13):
outing than they had against Memphis.
They very well could. I like them to cover that.
Plus 17 1/2. It goes over the total and East
Carolina wins. Ladies and gentlemen, just like
the hands of time. I'm turning it over to you.
Goodnight and God bless. Psalm 37.
Four KJB.
