Speaker 1 (00:01):
Strawt Media.
Speaker 2 (00:03):
Yeah, it's truly magic, and so it's really exciting.
Speaker 3 (00:06):
You know, this music industry hasn't seen anything like any
one of us. I think it's just really cool that
we're witnessing some something fresh in real time.
Speaker 4 (00:15):
Season four, that's how we do.
Speaker 2 (00:16):
It, right, yep? Season four, Yep.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
This is the Pride Podcast. Thank you so much Karon
for coming on.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
Thank you.
Speaker 1 (00:38):
We're so happy to have you. Congratulations. Thanks on the show.
I think we're finally allowed to like talk about it
in full, which is so amazing.
Speaker 2 (00:47):
No, literally, this is insane.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
I've been holding this secret and for a full year,
so this is so such like a blessing to even
be able to talk to you all, and yeah, this
is really cool.
Speaker 4 (00:58):
When did this journey start for you?
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Then?
Speaker 3 (01:01):
It started all the way back in February of last
year when I auditioned and I got a DM from
a producer telling me about the show. And I was like, Okay,
a DM about a Love Is Blind esque talent show
music show competition and for a very big network.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
And I was like, okay, interesting, I'm interested.
Speaker 3 (01:26):
And I definitely shot back to the DM and I
was like, I'm open to you know, hearing more about it.
Then fast forward to March, you know, the audition process virtually,
and then I didn't hear anything for a couple of weeks,
and then I got an email saying they want me
to go to LA to audition for the in person auditions.
And so in June I auditioned in LA, which is
(01:51):
a whole story in itself.
Speaker 2 (01:52):
It was so magical.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
It was everything from like the moment I went to
the airport and like landed in LA and it went
to the audition and stayed there for a night, and
then auditioned the next day and went back home the
same day. Like It's been such a beautiful cosmic journey.
I mean, even my audition was so I wish that
could get aired. Truly, I really want my audition to
(02:14):
be air because it was the most It was probably
my favorite audition I've ever done in my life. And
I've been on through a lot of auditions, but that's
something about that process was so magical. I remember leaving
my audition and going to the airport and this young
man was like he stopped me while I was checking
in my bag and he was like, you remind me
(02:35):
of a young Michael Jackson, and I was like, wait,
that's that's a lot of shoes to fill, obviously, and
obviously he's.
Speaker 2 (02:42):
Literally the king.
Speaker 3 (02:43):
So that that moment, little interaction I had with someone
that recognized me and kind of just told me something
that he didn't even know me. Actually, he just came
up to me and said that, and I was like,
And it was right after my audition, so I was like, Okay,
I feel like I killed my audition. I got this
compliment from a stranger. You know.
Speaker 2 (03:02):
I was feeling really optimistic that I got the role.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
And then a week later I found out that I
got the part, and I was on building the band
and I was it was such a crazy, beautiful journey.
And I cannot believe it's been a full year.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Me either, honestly, and I wasn't even part of the journey,
but a long time coming, so well deserved. I know,
you said like this was one of your most like
your biggest audition that like really stuck with you, So like,
what about it necessarily really stuck out some other auditions
you've done.
Speaker 3 (03:35):
No, I mean I've been through my fair share of
auditions growing up. I did musical theater as a child,
and I always dabbled into acting, and you know, I
tried to do the modeling as a kid, and I
did just so many auditions because my mom was like, Okay,
you have talent, let's just put you out there and
see what happens, right, and the things that stuck stuck,
and you know, I think this audition though, was just
(03:56):
my first audition in a minute, especially during twenty twenty four,
Like I was in school for PRS, so I wasn't
really doing anything singing wise other than TikTok, which I
started five years ago now, and I built a beautiful
fan base on TikTok. But this audition was so special
because I took a little bit of a hiatus from
everything entertainment beyond TikTok, and so this was like my
(04:19):
reintroduction to myself and I needed it, you know, at
a time where I was still figuring out myself and
what I wanted to bring to the industry and stuff.
So this moment was the audition was just so therapeutic.
I was like, Okay, I'm definitely made for the stage.
Like it's solidified, no pun intended. They definitely like solidified that. Okay,
(04:40):
this is what I want to do for the rest.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
Of my life.
Speaker 1 (04:43):
You're just kind of talking about like having those like
heart hearts through this show and really like feeling gratified
in that and all that. And I know that there's
this episode that aired in this like last batch where
you and your band kind of just really had a
moment to like sit down and really get to know
each other and talk about your journeys, and so could
you talk a little bit about what emotions you were
(05:04):
going through in that episode and just how this journey
has affected you.
Speaker 3 (05:08):
This journey has showed so much and to myself, like
I feel like I needed this show just like how
other there's there's some other people in this world that
are seeing the show and they're looking at me and
they're like, oh my gosh, I needed to hear his story.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
I needed to hear his voice. I needed it for myself.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
You know, these past couple months have just been so
and years you know, like just figure.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
Out who am I? What is Cameron good? What do
I want to do?
Speaker 3 (05:36):
I know I love this thing, but how do I
get in this like really like understand who I am?
Like how this show just really just answered so many
questions for me, and it may for someone I used
to be scared of being who I was and and
just being scared to be my most authentic, scared to
show my personality and do my hair the way I
(05:59):
want to wear, the clothes that I want to wear.
I don't know why, It's just that I was definitely
like shining away from what made me me, and so
the show brought out such it healed my inner child.
Speaker 2 (06:10):
Like as as a.
Speaker 3 (06:11):
Kid, I would like perform in front of my family
and like wear the most absurd outfits and just like
sing my heart out.
Speaker 2 (06:18):
And yeah, I was just so authentic.
Speaker 3 (06:22):
And I feel like I got lost in the pot
a little bit for a couple during like leaving COVID,
and like just I was just figuring out who I
was a growing up as a young adult, you know.
And so I think this show, just this journey and
the show like just healed me.
Speaker 2 (06:37):
Truly.
Speaker 3 (06:38):
I learned so much about myself and what I want
to bring to my music and what you know, what
this band means for me is is just authenticity and
being ourselves and healing, healing our inner selves and showing
everyone that you can be you and still get to
where you want to be.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Yeah, this this this journey was just so therapeutic.
Speaker 1 (07:00):
Also, had so many amazing judges and people on your
side that have also obviously been through the band world,
and I have to say, I mean your band definitely
I feel like stood out to them, Like they were always.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
Full of praise.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
They always were so excited to see what you all
were gonna do next. So how was it getting that
feedback from icons like.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
That, Oh my gosh, Like seeing the love from the judge.
First of all, obviously it's so weird that it was
a year ago, but like I even while watching it,
I'm like, they're like talking to us, like this is
so insane, And to witness it again is just like
such a blessing. Like obviously to be in that moment
(07:45):
and get those critiques in those in the advice and
the love and you know, in all the just all
of it, it was just so amazing. But now to
see it again and to hear the comments from Kelly,
Nicole aj Liam like, it's so amazing and I'm cherishing
at all because you know this this opportunity is just
(08:05):
means so much to me and the band, Like to
have these vetted industry professionals just like talk to us
and give us their their thoughts on our band and
how we can grow as a band. You know, at
the end of the day, it's building the band. So
the sixth bands that reforms past that test of chemistry
and that they proved themselves that they had that chemistry
(08:27):
and they're locked in. But now it's who, you know,
which band you know it's gonna progress to get obviously
the prize, but not only that, but who which band
is showing that beyond the tests and the chemistry, Like
who really is just like dominating and growing and showing
that they deserve their spot. And I think we did
(08:48):
just that. We literally laid it all out every time
we sang, and the critiques and the advice from the
judges just meant the world to all of us.
Speaker 1 (08:55):
So, was there a favorite, like piece of advice that
any of them gave you that really sticks with you.
Speaker 3 (09:02):
A lot of the advice that they gave was actually
behind the scenes, Like there's so much more that they
told us. But I will say I think my favorite
I've said this so many times already, but when it
comes to the music, like knowing that Kelly said, like
just you guys are very who came up with the arrangements.
(09:22):
Like I like Kelly's responses in particular because when it
comes down to the music, we definitely are so reperfectionists,
even down to what the arrangement is and how it
sounds sonically. And Kelly said something during Sweet Love about
like the riffs and the runs that we do and
how you know, we don't need to do all that
to tell our story, and I think that's so beautiful
because I think with this band that makes it so
(09:44):
special was just we obviously we know that we're a
breath of fresh air and there's no other band like
us in the industry. But with our music, we want
to do the same exact thing. We want to be
as authentic in our music, and so we're just really
playing with our voices like instruments when we say, and
it's the most beautiful process even singing any song, our originals.
Speaker 2 (10:05):
Our covers.
Speaker 3 (10:06):
So it's it's really cool and I really really loved
I loved all the responses and critiques that the judges gave,
but I loved Kelly's and during the Sweet Love.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
Yeah, So with season four, that's how.
Speaker 2 (10:33):
We do it right, YEP.
Speaker 4 (10:34):
Season four.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Yep, what were you like looking for in bandmates and
what did have they brought to the table.
Speaker 3 (10:44):
Well, going into the competition, I didn't even know like
what exactly I was looking for, you know, I was
just listening for amazing great voices.
Speaker 2 (10:53):
That was like the foundation.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
So I wish they did like full length videos of
like the contest listening to all fifty different contestants.
Speaker 2 (11:02):
Because I was.
Speaker 3 (11:03):
Being very picky, I'm like, Okay, I know I want this,
I know I want that. Like I was super super
invested in all the voices, and I think going into it,
like I was open to the idea of the mixed group,
but I was like, Okay, maybe I can try a
boy bit, maybe it'll bring something out of me, you know.
But you know, we didn't get choose their songs, but
I'm still glad. I sang almost is Never Enough. That
(11:24):
song is so beautiful. I absolutely love Ariana Grande and
so no. I definitely knew when I listened to Aliyah
and Downtel and Katie like that these people had the
most unique special voices out of everyone I've heard, And
the moment we locked in in the moves, I was like, Okay,
Walstone paper, I had no clue what these people look like.
(11:46):
I do know that our voices are different. And so
that first performance, i'd be saying, was so so so
ridiculous to even witness and to do it in real time,
because we didn't even know it worked until it worked,
you know, like we were kind of well, I wouldn't
say we were taking like doing a gamble, you know,
saying if it would work.
Speaker 2 (12:06):
But because our connection.
Speaker 3 (12:08):
Our personalities worked so well, so that wasn't an issue.
But when it came to the music, the way the
music also worked alongside our personalities, it's it's magic.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
It's truly cosmic for real.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
I mean, and then you got second place, so second
place something worked because y'all killed it. Absolutely, congratulations on that.
Speaker 3 (12:32):
Thank you seriously, Like getting this show has I'm so
excited that now it's a digital footprint I can to
see we get to see this show forever and ever.
So this is such such such a blessing. I need
a blessing count like up here. I think I said
that word like so many times, but it's the truth,
like beyond blessed and grateful.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
Absolutely.
Speaker 1 (12:52):
I just want to talk just a little bit before
while we still have some time about just the music industry,
and if you were worried how you were going to
break out into it and how I mean you said
you had a TikTok you know, footprint already going, so
you were like, I know people love me because I
can see that, you know the effect you're having on
people already. But yeah, if you were worried about how
(13:17):
you were going to break in and then how this,
you know, has influenced your like thoughts on the music
industry going forward.
Speaker 3 (13:23):
Yeah, you know, I definitely knew when I started TikTok
that I wanted to become a singer. I wanted to
be an artist, and so it took me a minute
to release some songs because I was still trying to
figure out who I was. And I'm glad that, you know,
even the songs that I did get to release to
the world in May this year on my Babies, I'm
(13:44):
really glad that I took that time, you know, to
figure out who I was before I released anything. And
so my sound as an individual is beyond unique. I mean,
some of my I have so many different inspirations, but
my music has definitely healed me and it's so exciting
now too that with this band, like that's still going
(14:05):
to always be a part of me my own career,
but like being a part of this band, like we're
still doing it's the same thing. Like I know I'm
showing my most authentic self and my music, and I
know that this journey as a solo artist is going
to be so therapeutic in real time and I'm just
gonna figure it out as I go. But with this band,
it's almost the same thing, you know, like there's no
(14:25):
blueprint to us, so we're.
Speaker 2 (14:26):
Just figuring it out. And that's what makes it so magical.
Speaker 3 (14:29):
Every time we are in sessions or we sing together,
it's like, oh my gosh, like this is this is
everything I've ever dreamt of in a band and people,
and yeah.
Speaker 2 (14:41):
It's truly magic. And so it's really exciting.
Speaker 3 (14:43):
You know, this music industry hasn't seen anything like any
one of us, and I think it's just really cool
that we're witnessing some something fresh in real time.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Absolutely, I'm excited to see where you all are going
to go next. Is there anything else you want to
sho share before we wrap up?
Speaker 2 (15:01):
Hmm?
Speaker 3 (15:03):
You know, if anybody is watching this. I love you dearly,
thank you so much for supporting me. I've been doing
this for a minute, so this is this is just
such such a blessing and it's really exciting times ahead
for sure.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
This is just the start for season four.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
This is just the start for me, and I'm excited
to just grow and you guys get to witness it
all and we're yeah.
Speaker 2 (15:25):
We're gonna do it. We're gonna do our damn thing.
I don't know if I'm curs, but we're gonna do
the damn thing.
Speaker 4 (15:30):

Speaker 4 (16:03):

Speaker 1 (16:05):
Make sure to check out Cameron Good from season four
on Building the Band on Netflix. And it's an amazing
show all about building a band without ever seeing them,
only hearing them first. It really really shows how much
talent can go and it is backed up by some
incredible people who are in the band music universe.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
They even have.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
A memorial to the late Liam Payne, which is very special.
He did guest judge on many episodes and really really
lent his voice to this project, so be sure to
check it out, if for anything for that reason, but
also because it has incredible bands that you can check
out and learn more about up.
Speaker 4 (16:48):
And coming artists.
Speaker 1 (16:50):
Cameron is so so sweet for joining us and we're
