Netflix’s XO, Kitty is back, and if you haven’t caught up on Season 2 yet—consider this your sign! The To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before spin-off returned in January, bringing more romance, chaos, and LGBTQ+ representation to KISS Academy. Now, with a third season officially confirmed, it’s the perfect time to dive in.

Created by Jenny Han, XO, Kitty made history as Netflix’s first TV spin-off of an original film. This season, fans got even deeper love triangles, major queer storylines, and some truly iconic fashion moments. One of the biggest highlights? The sapphic romance between Yuri (Gia Kim) and Juliana (Regan Aliyah), alongside Kitty’s journey of self-discovery as she embraces her bisexuality.

Caitlin McDaniel sat down with the cast to break it all down:

  • Gia Kim & Regan Aliyah on Yuri and Juliana’s fan-favorite love story, filming at a real gay club in Korea, and the show’s standout fashion.
  • Anna Cathcart & Anthony Keyvan on Kitty’s evolving identity, Q’s confidence as an out-and-proud queer character, and their real-life bestie bond.
  • Minyeong Choi & Sang Heon Lee on their characters’ intense friendship, Season 2’s biggest conflicts, and that dramatic airport scene.
If you’ve already binged Season 2, this is the perfect chance to relive the drama with the cast. And if you haven’t? What are you waiting for?

Speaker 1 (00:01):
Straw Hut Media.

Speaker 2 (00:03):
Let's put the two lesbians on the show, this lesbian
couple in the best Thank you.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
If you're not watching Xokitty on Netflix, honestly, I feel
bad for you. Like, genuinely, this show is peak cheesiness
in the best way possible. It's cute, chaotic, Basically everyone
is queer and bisexual representation is amazing. Plus it all
goes down at a fancy boarding school in South Korea.
Oh and did I mention everyone on the show is

(00:38):
ridiculously attractive. I'm Kitlyn McDaniel and this week on Pride,
we're talking to the cast of Xokitty. So XO Kitty
is a spinoff of Jenny Han's hip book series turn
Netflix trilogy to All the Boys. This time we're following
Kitty Song Covey, the youngest Covey sister, who takes her
matchmaking skills to Kiss, which is the boarding school her

(00:59):
life attended. But instead of just playing cupid, she ends
up unraveling some major family secrets while figuring out her
own love life. It's messy, dramatic, and honestly so fun
to watch. Season two just dropped in January, and we
just got the news that it's been renewed for a
highly anticipated third season. I sat down with the cast

(01:22):
to break down all the drama, representation and relationship chaos
in season two. So let's get into it first. Up,
I chatted with Reagan Aliyah, who plays Juliana, and Gia Kim,

(01:46):
who plays Yuri. This season, we get even more of
their dynamic, which has become a fan favorite sapphik couple.
We talked about their characters, journeys, filming at a real
gay club in Korea, and of course the amazing fashion
in the show. I'm Kitlyn McDaniel with Gayety. It's so
great to see you both the gay me too, my

(02:10):
favorite girlfriend here. I wanted to start just you know,
it's a new season at Kiss. So for your character,
what class do you think is their favorite this semester?

Speaker 4 (02:23):
Oh, she doesn't care about anything about the art. How
does URI's favorite class?

Speaker 5 (02:33):
Maybe music? Music?

Speaker 3 (02:35):
Yeah, and that's definitely strong this semester too. I'm going
to see a lot going on.

Speaker 4 (02:40):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, exactly.

Speaker 6 (02:42):
There's so much related to music this season, and I love.

Speaker 3 (02:46):
The dynamic that we get to see more of this
season between your two characters. But I wanted to ask
you your first impressions of each other when you first
met in real life and how that's kind of changed
as you've gotten to know each other now.

Speaker 1 (03:00):
The first person of you tracks like I thought as
soon as I matter, I was like a person that
like is very light, like very bright energy, very like
sun energy. And I think even more now where I'm like, oh,
this person is like the light of people's lives.

Speaker 7 (03:17):
You know.

Speaker 1 (03:18):
So I'm like, I feel like it was like pretty accurate.

Speaker 7 (03:21):
I was like, she's so nice, she's so kind.

Speaker 5 (03:23):
Well, I had.

Speaker 6 (03:24):
The exact same impression of her because we met at
the hotel lobby.

Speaker 4 (03:28):
Yeah, right, and we were already.

Speaker 6 (03:29):
Kind of in a group cast members, and then Reagan
joined and then she was just like like there's nothing
like literally zero percent bad vibe from a person, you know,
like sometimes you meet someone and you can like seventy
thirty percent, then there was like zero and she's just
like pure and good and she just walks in and

(03:50):
she's like like as soon as she walks in, there's
like no awkwardness, even though we do all just met
for the first time and she was walking into a group,
which can be intimidate but she was just so like
easy and so flowy with us that I was like, Oh,
this person's gonna be great to work with.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
I was excited.

Speaker 3 (04:08):
Yeah, I love that. And Reagan, it's it's Julianna. She's
coming into Kiss and she's kind of trying to find
her place. So can you talk a little bit about
how she's adjusting.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
Mm, she was gone, she's back. I think she's trying
her best.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
There are some things that get thrown in her world
that she's probably not expecting, but she's navigating it the
best she can.

Speaker 4 (04:35):
It's hard, you know.

Speaker 1 (04:35):
There's there's their kids. This is their first time doing everything.

Speaker 4 (04:39):
They have no reference points.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
So I think like for her, it's like sometimes she.

Speaker 2 (04:42):
Might slip up with certain things that kiss.

Speaker 1 (04:45):
But the other time she's like, I'm genuinely trying my best.

Speaker 4 (04:48):
But I'm happy she's back.

Speaker 2 (04:49):
I'm happy that she gets to be like with all
the friends and like with everybody and like be back
in the mix.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
I think it's really cool.

Speaker 3 (04:56):
Yeah, absolutely, And I love too that we get to
see more of like this quick you're seeing there's part
you know, or even go out and see other people. So, Gia,
can you talk a little bit about like how fun
that was to film.

Speaker 6 (05:08):
Honestly, like we were talking about earlier, I think it's
really special, especially having this, like shooting it in Korea
as well. And I've said this throughout season one too,
but having a queer love line or love story be
shown in such a big.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
Globally acclaimed.

Speaker 6 (05:31):
Or accessible show on a major streaming platform, and it's
set in Korea, where I feel like still a lot
more representation can be had, a lot more in that space.
I feel like it's very, very meaningful. And the fact
that we were at an actual gay club in Korea
shooting that as well was really meaningful too.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
I think that's amazing.

Speaker 3 (05:55):
Yeah, and I just to close this off, I have
to talk about the fashion because it's really amazing. I mean,
I love your outfit even today, but could you both
just talk a little bit about the fashion on the show.

Speaker 1 (06:06):
Her outfits on the show, I want them all.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
Every time she would walk out, I was like, great,
all right, are you for everything? I believe this season?

Speaker 7 (06:17):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (06:17):
This season, I was like, we're finding the group, but
like you from first season, two, second season, I'm like,
back to back to back and you're just you walk
out in like the best looks.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
I'm like, this is unfair.

Speaker 6 (06:29):
Whatsana has the coolest looks because she's like the artist,
you know, so they're always throwing all the funky stuff
on hers.

Speaker 1 (06:36):
I would say, are our couple in the show have
the superior looks?

Speaker 5 (06:41):
We oh yeah when they walk in, Yeah.

Speaker 2 (06:45):
They're like, let's put the two lesbians on the show.
This lesbian couple in the best of thank You.

Speaker 3 (06:54):
Next, I caught up with Anthony Kivon and Anna Cathcart.
These two besties are the heart of Exokitty, and their
real life friendship makes their on screen dynamic even better.
We talked about their favorite classes at Kiss, Kitty's personal
growth and her bisexuality, cues confidence and is queer identity,
and a little behind the scenes slew thing. So wonderful

(07:16):
to see you so really welcome to season two.

Speaker 5 (07:20):
Thank you.

Speaker 3 (07:20):
I'm so excited.

Speaker 4 (07:21):
You both look fabulous.

Speaker 5 (07:23):
Thank you you do too, Thank you, thank you.

Speaker 3 (07:26):
So I just want to start. We're adding in a
new season at Kiss, new school year for your characters.
What do you think their favorite class this season would be?

Speaker 8 (07:36):
Ooh, Kitty has a new class that's like, uh, music
management and that I feel like I mean, it has
its drama within it for sure, but I feel.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
Like she would I think she likes it.

Speaker 8 (07:49):
I think she definitely we get to see her in
that class the most, So I'm gonna I'm gonna take
the agency to say she's enjoying it, she has fun.

Speaker 5 (07:56):
Yeah, I'd say for Q it's definitely track.

Speaker 9 (08:00):
I don't know if that counts as a class, but
I don't. I don't consider him an academic per se,
so I would say track for sure.

Speaker 5 (08:10):
He gets a lot of fun out of that.

Speaker 3 (08:11):
Absolutely. And I love the story arcs that go on
this season, especially Anna for you with Kitty, I mean,
she has such growth and she's going from being a
matchmaker to figuring herself out and her sexuality of course,
So can you just talk a little bit about how
fun that is exploring.

Speaker 8 (08:27):
Yeah, I think it's so special to see Kitty in
a space this season where she feels like she has
a stronger sense of who she is. And season one,
there was that whole beautiful journey of coming to the
realization of her sexuality and exploring that for the first time.
Versus this season, she's pretty comfortable with it and she's
getting to actually like be that person in the world
and be proud of it and explore it like in

(08:50):
a much more real way instead of like in her
own heart, in her own mind, and that's really cool
to see and like her first her first like first
girl date, and first like all of those first are
happening for her and it's very special to see that
she's proud of it. And Kitty's always always been very
fearless in that way, which is so fun to get
to explore.

Speaker 3 (09:09):
I can't wait for everyone to see, Like, there's just
so much that's gonna happen going over to you Anthony.
With Q, I mean, he's always going from school to boys,

(09:30):
and I love watching what he's gonna do next. But
I also do love that we get to kind of
see him like in a queer scene, especially this season.
So can you just talk a little bit about what
you love seeing him do this season?

Speaker 5 (09:41):
Yeah, Well, I mean, I love.

Speaker 10 (09:42):
The thing that I love about Q is that he's
always been very comfortable in his own skin, Like I
don't think he struggles at all with his identity, and
that's what's really cool about seeing a character like that
on TV and getting to be more comfortable in that
and like go on this journey with Kitty as well,
Like it is really cool to see how he kind
of I don't know, like takes her under his twing

(10:05):
in a way. Like I think that's what makes playing
Q so fun, like kind of living vicariously because he's
already done all of this experience at all. So it's
like cool to see him do that with Kitty. And also,
like like you said, with the queer scene and like
being in that space and like how even more so
he lets loose and like I it was just like
such a fun episode.

Speaker 5 (10:26):
I feel like that was the best.

Speaker 10 (10:29):
I really enjoy that part of playing you for sure,
And you two.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Are amazing best friends on this show. I love seeing
how like reliant you can be on each other. So
could you just talk a little bit about your first
impressions of yourself like each other in real life, and
then how it's grown like your friendship.

Speaker 5 (10:47):
Oh my god, I think that the person we met
it was outside of the hotel. I was walking out
of it. I was driving, like came out of the
van like slid the door open. During I'm like, you're
a like we had only just met over zoom.

Speaker 10 (11:03):
Zoom for like the Chemistry reads before that, So that
was like our first time really meeting, and I just
remember you like embraced me in this biggest hug ever,
and I just remember thinking, this girl is so sweet
and so genuine, Like you don't really get that a
lot in this industry.

Speaker 11 (11:17):
Sometimes think reminds me of like when Kitty comes out
of the car and Episode one, Like it was like that,
Like it was like the jump into each other, like
the little like tippy taps of dancing and we're like
this is happening, We're out here. It was like literally
that scene in real life, Like the excitement was so
real and like, yeah, getting getting to be like we're.

Speaker 4 (11:35):
About to start this crazy adventure together and like we.

Speaker 8 (11:37):
Get to experience this wild thing side by side was
like such a special element.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
It really was.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
My gosh, I feel like we get to see that
in season two too, like right at the beginning, so
I yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 5 (11:49):
That just like it was such a parallel.

Speaker 3 (11:52):
Yeah, I love that so much. And I also feel
like obviously Kitty's trying to find about about more of
her mother, and this time she gets a little more
like sleuthing, like it's really getting into the clues. So
how do you both feel about solving mysteries? Do you
think you're.

Speaker 5 (12:09):
Good or I think I'm pretty good at slouthing?

Speaker 7 (12:12):
I like you.

Speaker 4 (12:13):
I would trust you like I would trust you help.

Speaker 10 (12:15):
I can put my FBI hat on and like figure
some stuff out.

Speaker 5 (12:18):
I'm good at finding information.

Speaker 11 (12:20):
I think I think I would go to you if
I did help for that, I would just get too nervous,
Like I get very stressed and be like no, I'm
like I would be too guilty.

Speaker 4 (12:29):
Tell someone you need.

Speaker 3 (12:30):
For I feel like I could do like an Instagram
slothing but that's yeah, I could.

Speaker 10 (12:37):
Get in my car and follow someone if yeah, okay,
so I'll call you up.

Speaker 3 (12:42):
Now let's get into some of the drama because we
know XO Kitty brings the tension. Minyong Choo and Song
Huan Lee opened up about their character's rocky friendship this season,
the intense rivalries, and the huge airport scene from the
season one finale. So, just to start us out, we're

(13:04):
in a new semester at Kiss, So can you tell
me what you think your character's favorite classes this semester?

Speaker 4 (13:11):
If you see the show, you'll know. But definitely for
Day it's advanced voice, because that's like one of the
main things that's in Day's head for season two. Yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 7 (13:22):
I think towards some of the I can't remember the
specific class, but like it was like the.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
Whole business man.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
Yeah, like this.

Speaker 7 (13:33):
Is this management artist carrying manager sort of class. I
can't remember what it was, but yeah, he was middle
was really.

Speaker 5 (13:44):
He was quite.

Speaker 7 (13:47):
Flexible and he didn't have a hard time doing it
because of his I don't know, like family trade.

Speaker 4 (13:57):
Yeah, like I feel like I tried, like didn't wasn't.

Speaker 7 (14:02):
Interesting first, he wasn't interested, he wasn't really into it,
but then he was.

Speaker 5 (14:07):
Just naturally talgeted.

Speaker 4 (14:08):
Yes, exactly, Yeah, like you got hype for Father absolutely.

Speaker 3 (14:15):
I mean yeah, there's definitely some new classes this semester,
some new tricks that we get to see. And you
two your characters are best friends on the show, but
there's was kind of some tension last season, So can
you talk a little bit about that friendship.

Speaker 4 (14:30):
And what we're going to see from them this time. Well,
that's like not even attention, that's like that's just like
a pretty push.

Speaker 5 (14:42):
Yeah, there was, there was, but like.

Speaker 4 (14:46):
In this season, there's even more. That was just like
a teacher.

Speaker 7 (14:50):
Oh yeah, that was like that was only like that's
like nothing compared to what's coming up.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
Even because of that, like it gets even worse because
they thought, you know, like you feel dumb when you.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
Don't know what's happening.

Speaker 7 (15:08):
Yeah, someone's she did for you, but it turns out
but you know what. Anyways, I think overall, like because
there are there were some collisions between Day and Minno,
it as everyone who's been through those relationships like fighting
with your best friend or with your lover, with your

(15:29):
family and members whatever, it just gets better. Like what
doesn't kill you makes you stronger.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
Deeper.

Speaker 3 (15:38):
I love those takeaways like it's like you can't seen
nothing yet, there's more to come, and then what doesn't
makes you stronger is.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
What we're going to see this season.

Speaker 3 (15:46):
And saying I wanted to go to you just kind
of about that finale of last season and filming that
airport scene. Can you talk to us a little bit
about what was going through your mind when you're filming
that scene.

Speaker 7 (15:57):
I think I really try to touch in too Minto's
true feelings and portray it as much as I can
on screen, But it was sort of fun as well,
because I had to think about obviously my sort of

(16:20):
memory or that little moment where I had to like
say my true feelings to my lover for the first time.
So it was that touching moment and going through my
memories was I think was really great.

Speaker 3 (16:33):
Yeah, and that's a wrap on my EXO Kitty season
two cast interviews. This season is bigger, messier, and queerer
than ever and I am so here for it. Plus,
with season three officially on the way, I can only
imagine what kind of chaos is coming next. Make sure

(16:54):
you're following for more interviews with your favorite stars, and
if you haven't venged Xokitty on Netflix, go fix that.
Thanks for listening and I'll catch you next time.
